Abstract:
In this paper a modified printed dipole is proposed for mobile terminals operating in the first band of Personal Communication System (PCS) that is ranging from 800 to 900 MHz. One of the most important features of this kind of antenna is its wide bandwidth as required in the mentioned band. The modified design of the proposed antenna allows the user to move in any direction as is usual in mobile communications. The results of this article include an analytical design, simulations that have been performed numerically using a Finite Element Method (FEM) computational tool, structure optimization in order to maximize the antenna bandwidth and experimental measurements with the aim of spatial evaluating of electromagnetic radiated fields.

Abstract:
Nowadays, underwater wireless communications are realized through communication systems based on acoustic waves, electromagnetic waves (radiofrequency waves and low frequency waves), magnetic induction and visible light. This paper provides a basic problems and key aspects in the development of underwater wireless optical communication systems. The latter attracts considerable interest from science, industry and ecology as an effective solution to satisfy the rapidly increasing demands of underwater high data-rate transmission on at any depth. However, severe aquatic channel conditions (absorption, scattering, turbulence, etc.) significantly reduce the attainable communication ranges. The second serious problem limiting the functioning of wireless optical communication systems is the difficulty of aligning the transmitter beam with the receiver's field of view. Two main types between transmitter and receiver are considered: diffuse line-of-sign (wide-beam) configuration and point-to-point light-of-sign (narrow-beam) configuration. Diffuse line-of-sign communication have reduced alignment requirements, but data rates and distances are noticeably lower than in narrow-beam systems. The main technical solutions for adjusting the receiver and transmitter in narrow-beam communication systems are discussed in this paper.

Abstract:
The analysis of the use of chaotic signals filtered through a broadband bandpass filter to ensure stealth and reliability of data transmission operations in radio communication systems is carried out. Time realizations of chaotic signals generated by the well-known Chua and Rikitake generators are obtained. They were filtered using a broadband bandpass filter, and the data obtained was studied using BDS-statistic and crest factor. As a result of the studies, it was found that under certain research conditions, time realizations of Chua generator and Rikitake generator, obtained by broadband filtering, are suitable. Other considered time realizations are not suitable for radio communication systems, since either they have low stealth from the outside observer, or they have an unacceptable crest factor value for radio communication systems. From this we can conclude that filtering chaotic signals using a broadband bandpass filter as a whole is a promising approach to ensure the stealth and reliability of data transmission in radio communication systems. The authors, basing on the conducted research and conclusions from well-known works, consider it appropriate to use broadband filtering to ensure the stealth and reliability of data transmission in radio communication systems when using chaotic signals, along with widely used methods.

Abstract:
Among the various industrial sectors in Singapore, healthcare was the first to exploit broadband technology. In 1997, the Singapore General Hospital installed a broadband backbone even before the technology was generally viable. Today, the system supports the transmission of high-quality X-rays, CT- and MRI-scanned images, and electrocardiogram. And the latest decision is to supplement the existing facilities with wireless technology. This paper examines the strategic use of infocomm technology in the healthcare sector focusing on some recent technologies such as electronic data interchange, the Internet, e-commerce, broadband network and wireless technology. The patient-friendliness and the intelligence level of the entire healthcare sector are also analyzed. Besides, the strong coupling between human minds and artificial infocomm systems in healthcare may have stretched the interactions between the two systems into the nonlinear domain. The consequences may be a more innovative development of new infocomm systems and a more strategic exploitation of infocomm technology.

Abstract:
Today, wireless communication is one of the most promising areas in the field of communications. Modern radio communication systems and facilities operate in a complex electronic environment. The development of next-generation wireless networks depends on both transmitting and receiving equipment, which must provide the high data rates needed to maintain a reliable level of interference protection. The main factors influencing the quality of radio communication are natural and intentional interference in the radio wave propagation channel, multi-beam propagation, bandwidth limitation and the need for asynchronous access. One of the possible methods of partial solution of the above problems is the use of extended spectrum communication systems. The article investigates the effectiveness of different types of phase modulation used for Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum systems. An idealized channel with additive white Gaussian noise was chosen as the radio wave propagation channel. It has been observed that Binary phase shift keying radio systems achieve better Bit error rate values than other systems. The research was conducted in the environment of dynamic interdisciplinary modeling of complex technical systems - Simulink (the main tool for model-oriented design), whose main interface is a graphical tool for charting and a flexible set of libraries of functional blocks. The simulation results showed that for a given data rate and under the influence of AWGN on the propagation channel, DSSS-BPSK was more resistant to the negative effects of white noise. Future research will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of the SSS communication system in the event of different types of interference.

Abstract:
This paper provides a numerical investigation in designing wideband circularly polarized 60 GHz antenna using Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic technology (LTCC). The LTCC provides high-density multilayer integration, low dielectric loss, and low costs. The use of LTCC technology is advantageous for easy and flexible 3D integration and freer vias distribution in the substrate. The designed antenna focuses on obtaining a better trade-off in terms of size, gain, circular polarization (CP), and large bandwidth. The circular polarization was chosen in order to minimize the transmission errors caused by polarization inconsistency between the transmitter and the receiver. The antenna geometry is developed taking into consideration the design rules of the LTCC with a layer thickness of 100 µm after firing and a metal layer thickness of 9 µm. A bandwidth of more than 33% centered at 60 GHz was obtained for this designed multilayer antenna. The results are obtained by using the High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The proposed integrated antenna can be used in future 5G wireless communication systems and other 60 GHz spectrum applications.

The article discusses the obtained estimate of the upper bounds for the probable receiving error of the synchronizing sequence during sensor phasing of aperiodic pseudo-random sequences (CRR) in broadband communication systems in the channels of low quality with strong disturbances of natural and organized structure. The obtained results allow to design synchronization systems of pseudo-random sequences for the worst case, which guarantees their reliable operation in low-quality channels, and, unlike the well-known methods, the estimation of synchronization of aperiodic pseudo-random sequence sensors doesn’t depend on the error distribution in the communication channel and the period of sequence. The appointed differences simplify the evaluation of synchronization in the operation of broadband communication systems in low-quality channels.

Abstract:
In this paper the multicarrier direct-sequence code-division multiple access (MC DS-CDMA) using space-time spreading assisted transmit diversity is investigated in the context of broadband wireless communi-cations systems constructed based on the generalized approach to signal processing in noise over frequency-se-lective Rayleigh fading channels. We consider the issue of parameter design for the sake of achieving high-ef-ficiency communications in various dispersive environments. In contrast to the conventional MC DS-CDMA wireless communication system employing the time (T)-domain spreading only, in the present paper the broad-band wireless MC DS-CDMA wireless communication schemes employ both the time (T)-domain and frequen-cy (F)-domain spreading, i.e., employ the TF-domain spreading. The bit-error rate (BER) performance of the space-time spreading assisted broadband MC DS-CDMA wireless communications system is investigated for down-link transmissions associated with the single user and multiuser generalized detectors and is compared with that of the single user correlation detector and the multiuser decorrelating detector. Our study demonstra-tes that with appropriately selecting the system parameters, the broadband MC DS-CDMA wireless communi-cation system using the space-time spreading assisted transmit diversity constitutes a promising downlink tran-smission scheme. This scheme is capable to support ubiquitous communications over diverse communication environments without the BER performance degradation

Abstract:
For a long time, the development of maritime communication has been restricted by the low data rate, high-latency and high cost of the current communication systems. The upgrade of new generation mobile communication technologies is attracting more and more attention to conduct a shore-based broadband mobile communication network with high-latency and high reliability to serve the maritime industries. This paper presents a solution by means of building a ship-to-infrastructure (S2I) and a ship-to-ship (S2S) wireless communication networks for an offshore region. We characterize the S2I and S2S channels at 5.9 GHz band based on the channel measurements in realistic environments. The channel characteristics, including power delay profile, delay spread, propagation path loss, are extracted and analyzed. In view of the difference between marine and terrestrial communications, we analyze the influencing factors of the offshore water, including effective reflection, divergence and shadowing from the water surface, and diffraction loss caused by the earth curvature. We also predict the power coverage range and the channel capacity for S2I and S2S wireless communications. Finally, the communication performance is evaluated according to the channel measurement and characterization analysis. The research results can be a reference for the construction of maritime communication networks.

New and necessary improvements of electromagnetic exposure assessment principles and methods are considered and presented. The electromagnetic field exposure assessment is the physical basis for hygienic and biological research and needs s to consider the new technological features of emerging 5G mobile systems in addition to existing 2-4G systems. The new generation of telecommunication networks will cause significantly novel electromagnetic field exposure, in particular for time-frequency and spatial parameters. A complex exposure assessment based on refined broadband measurements seems to be the proper and necessary approach to the enhancement of Russian EMF assessment guidelines. Simple broadband EMF measurements are the common approach for present exposure assessment and cannot be used any longer as the only measure for multiple 5G sources exposure evaluation. Then again broadband measurements are the simple and practical approach for mm wave in-situ exposure assessment. Frequency-selective and code-selective measurements provide detailed EMF level distribution in separate frequency channels, telecommunication services or sources and are a promising approach for objective exposure assessment.

Communication satellites, whether in geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) or non GEO, provide an effective platform to relay radio signals between points on the ground. The users who employ these signals enjoy a broad spectrum of telecommunication services on the ground, at sea, and in the air. In recent years, such systems have become practical to the point where a typical household can have its own satellite dish. That dish can receive a broad range of television programming and provide broadband access to the Internet. Abstract:
As a convenient and efficient public transport system, high speed railway (HSR) was rapidly deployed in China. Since the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication system is commercially applied, it is necessary for mobile terminals antennas to cover multiple operating bands to be compatible with various communication systems. Here a HSR-mounted broadband and high-gain monopole antenna is proposed. By using the meander technology and introducing the tapered structure, the proposed antenna operates over a bandwidth of 694-960 MHz and 1350-5975 MHz (VSWR<1.8), which covers both 2G-5G mobile communication and WiFi frequency bands. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are 400 mm × 330 mm × 78 mm. The measured average gain is 6.11 dBi over the entire bandwidth.

Abstract:
Maritime wireless mesh networks (MWMNs) are conceived to provide network connectivity for maritime users and enable them to communicate with correspondent users connected to terrestrial communication networks. The high cost and low data-rate of satellite and other legacy maritime communication technologies and systems deployed in MWMNs pose major limitation to establish reliable and affordable maritime communications. In addition, the design of routing protocols in MWMNs remains a significant challenge due to the lack of reliable communication infrastructure and complexity of maritime environment. This paper explains the existing maritime communication technologies and routing protocols which could be deployed in implementing reliable MWMNs. Comprehensive guidelines are outlined to easily understand and critically assess the different deployed maritime communication networks and systems with routing protocols, and identify the milestones in the process of developing and implementing broadband MWMNs.

Abstract:
Impedance transformer is highly desirable in systems such as microwave communication systems for compensating impedance mismatches. Such device that can perform over broadband frequencies find numerous applications. This article presents the design and investigation of a microstrip Klopfenstein tapered line impedance transformer, KTLI. In ideal condition, it must possess minimum passband reflection coefficient for a given taper length. For specific reflection coefficient, there is a minimum value of taper length. The investigation is based on analytical equations which were computed using MathCAD. The reflection coefficient and return loss responses were found to be in good agreement with theory. Broadband characteristics were observed.

Abstract:
A vactrain (or vacuum tube high-speed flying train) is considered as a novel proposed rail transportation approach in the ultra-high-speed scenario. The maglev train can run with low mechanical friction, low air resistance, and low noise mode at a speed exceeding 1000 km/h inside the vacuum tube regardless of weather conditions. Currently, there is no research on train-to-ground wireless communication system for vactrain. In this paper, we first summarize a list of the unique challenges and opportunities associated with the wireless communication for vactrain, then analyze the bandwidth and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of vactrain’s train-to-ground communication services quantitatively. To address these challenges and utilize the unique opportunities, a leaky waveguide solution with simple architecture but excellent performance is proposed for wireless coverage for vactrains. The simulation of the leaky waveguide is conducted, and the results show the uniform phase distribution along the horizontal direction of the tube, but also the smooth field distribution at the point far away from the leaky waveguide, which can suppress Doppler frequency shift, indicating that the time-varying frequency-selective fading channel could be approximated as a stationary channel. Furthermore, the train-to-ground wireless access architectures based on leaky waveguide are studied and analyzed. Finally, the moving scheme is adopted based on centralized, cooperative, cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN), so as to deal with the extremely frequent handoff issue.

Abstract:
The article is focused on the problem of degrading the signals of broadband 3G / 4G mobile radio access systems in places of subscribers clustering and in so-called “dead zones”. The analysis of the actual principles of building mobile networks has been carried out, the main disadvantages of the approaches to the development of cellular networks have been identified. The current trend of building macro cells in the urban environment has lost its effectiveness due to the increasing frequencies used; it has to be replaced by a fundamentally new way of planning mobile networks. A new principle of providing access to mobile communications “from inside to outside” is proposed, which takes into account the needs of a large number of subscribers in the premises. It is based on setting the maximum number of internal base stations fully meeting the needs of internal network users. Such a distinction will positively affect all subscribers and improve the experience from using the high-quality services of the mobile operators, which will result in increasing the economic performance
