Abstract:
We present the space of functions of boundedκφ-variation in the sense of Riesz-Korenblum, denoted byκBVφ[a,b], which is a combination of the notions of boundedφ-variation in the sense of Riesz and boundedκ-variation in the sense of Korenblum. Moreover, we prove that the space generated by this class of functions is a Banach space with a given norm and we prove that the uniformly bounded composition operator satisfies Matkowski's weak condition.

Here we prove two propositions providing sufficient conditions of belonging positive continuous functions in to classes and These auxiliary classes plays important role in theory of entire functions of bounded L-index in direction and bounded L-index in joint variables, where are continuous functions. They help to constuct general theory of bounded index for very wide class of entire functions, because for every entire functions with bounded multiplicities of zero points there exists a corresponding function or providing boundedness of L-index in direction or boundedness L–index in joint variables respectively. Our result requires uniform boundedness of logarithmic derivative in all variables and for belonging the function to class Q^n. Another result requires uniform boundedness of logarithmic derivative in directions and for belonging the function to class Q^n_b where is the complex conjugate vector to b.

Abstract:
Milutin's Theorem states that if X and Y are uncountable metrizable compact Hausdorff spaces, then C(X) and C(Y) are isomorphic as Banach spaces [15, p. 379]. Thus there is only one isomorphism class of such Banach spaces. There is also an extensive theory of the Banach–Mazur distance between various classes of classical Banach spaces with the deepest results depending on probabilistic and asymptotic estimates [18]. Lindenstrauss, Haagerup and possibly others know that as Banach spaceswhere H is the infinite dimensional separable Hilbert space, R is the injective II 1-factor on H, and ≈ denotes Banach space isomorphism. Haagerup informed us of this result, and suggested considering completely bounded isomorphisms; it is a pleasure to acknowledge his suggestion. We replace Banach space isomorphisms by completely bounded isomorphisms that preserve the linear structure and involution, but not the product. One of the two theorems of this paper is a strengthened version of the above result: if N is an injective von Neumann algebra with separable predual and not finite type I of bounded degree, then N is completely boundedly isomorphic to B(H). The methods used are similar to those in Banach space theory with complete boundedness needing a little care at various points in the argument. Extensive use is made of the conditional expectation available for injective algebras, and the methods do not apply to the interesting problems of completely bounded isomorphisms of non-injective von Neumann algebras (see [4] for a study of the completely bounded approximation property).

AbstractGeneralizing the concept of right bounded rings, a module MR is called bounded if annR(M/N)≤eRR for all N≤eMR. The module MR is called fully bounded if (M/P) is bounded as a module over R/annR(M/P) for any ℒ2-prime submodule P◃MR. Boundedness and right boundedness are Morita invariant properties. Rings with all modules (fully) bounded are characterized, and it is proved that a ring R is right Artinian if and only if RR has Krull dimension, all R-modules are fully bounded and ideals of R are finitely generated as right ideals. For certain fully bounded ℒ2-Noetherian modules MR, it is shown that the Krull dimension of MR is at most equal to the classical Krull dimension of R when both dimensions exist.

Abstract:
This paper considers thep-moment boundedness of nonlinear impulsive stochastic delay differential systems (ISDDSs). Using the Lyapunov-Razumikhin method and stochastic analysis techniques, we obtain sufficient conditions which guarantee thep-moment boundedness of ISDDSs. Two cases are considered, one is that the stochastic delay differential system (SDDS) may not be bounded, and how an impulsive strategy should be taken to make the SDDS be bounded. The other is that the SDDS is bounded, and an impulsive disturbance appears in this SDDS, then what restrictions on the impulsive disturbance should be adopted to maintain the boundedness of the SDDS. Our results provide sufficient criteria for these two cases. At last, two examples are given to illustrate the correctness of our results.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the study of elliptic PDEs. The first part of the thesis is focused on the regularity of stable solutions to a nonlinear equation involving the p-Laplacian, in a bounded domain of the Euclidean space. The technique is based on Hardy-Sobolev inequalities in hypersurfaces involving the mean curvature, which are also investigated in the thesis. The second part concerns, instead, a nonlocal problem of Dirichlet-to-Neumann type. We study the one-dimensional symmetry of some subclasses of stable solutions, obtaining new results in dimensions n=2, 3. In addition, we carry out the study of the asymptotic behaviour of the operator associated with this nonlocal problem, using Γ-convergence techniques.

Two research problems involving the class of discrete-time signals bounded in magnitude are addressed in this thesis. The first problem concerns robust stability of systems with repeated, structured, linear time-varying, and induced-ℓinfinity-norm bounded perturbations. The second problem consists in the design of an ℓ₁-optimal controller that allows for flexible management of the tradeoff between the ability of a system to attenuate disturbance signals versus its expected worst peak-to-peak amplification. Original solutions to both problems are provided and their efficiency is assessed with examples and applications.

Abstract:
The relationship between surface, perception, and structure has occupied my graduate studies. Locating, transforming, and transcending the surface requires play with perceptive abilities not only of vision, but of touch, hearing, and the other senses as well. How do the interactions of sense with the qualities of a surface determine our perception of the world? What role does the extension of the senses play in one's ability to perceive surface and structure? Using sense information gleaned from surfaces, the tectonics of our world are made visible. Might this relationship be played backwards as well? Composed structures produce surfaces upon which limina can be sensed. This written accompaniment to the thesis works is intended to continue the exploration of the surface/ sense/ structure relationship. With the visual work as a basis, each section consists of two parts. This structure is a tool for producing sense information for the viewer concerning the visual work. The first part serves as a bridge between the particular visual work and the second part. Consisting of a page or so of text, the first part of each section is also intended to set a tone or position the reader for the second part. The second part is more formal and speaks about the ideas behind the produced object, and for the most part could be applied to any works in this thesis. My desire is that the adjacency of the pieces in each section will create a friction of sorts— an awareness of the surface between the two writings, and perhaps, between the writing and the objects.

Abstract:
The chase is a family of algorithms designed to infer data with the use of ontological knowledge, which encoded in existential rules, a sub-language of first-order logic. A considerable literature has been devoted to its analysis, approaching it from a variety of presupposed terminological and notational background. We define a unifying framework for the specification and study of chase algorithms. We utilize it to compare and clarify the properties that discern the different variants of the chase. We particularly focus on studying whether there is a bound in the maximum length of a chain of interdependent rule applications (where interdependency means that the output of a rule application is contributing to triggering the next rule application). This is the problem ofboundedness, or k-boundedness, when the bound k is given. By investigating a number of intermediate properties, we find that k-boundedness is decidable for several chase variants. In addition to other secondary results, we define two new chase variants with the aim of reducing redundant rule applications without heavily increasing the computation cost

We are interested in proving the following statement: Given a 3-manifold M with boundary and a homeomorphism of the boundary f : ∂M → ∂M such that there is some power that extends to M, there is some k depending only on the genus g(∂M) and some l < k such that ƒᶩ extends to M. We will prove that the power needed to extend is not uniformly bounded with some examples, we will prove the statement is true if M is boundary incompressible and we will show that the general statement reduces to effectivising some technical results about pure homeomorphisms extending to compression bodies

Abstract:

Investigations of pseudodifferential operators are useful in a variety of applications. These include finding solutions or estimates of solutions to certain partial differential equations, studying boundedness properties of commutators and paraproducts, and obtaining fractional Leibniz rules. A pseudodifferential operator is given through integration involving the Fourier transform of the arguments and a function called a symbol. Pseudodifferential operators were first studied in the linear case and results were obtained to advance both the theory and applicability of these operators. More recently, significant progress has been made in the study of bilinear, and more generally multilinear, pseudodifferential operators. Of special interest are boundedness properties of bilinear pseudodifferential operators which have been examined in a variety of function spaces. Since determining factors in the boundedness of these operators are connected to properties of the corresponding symbols, significant effort has been directed at categorizing the symbols according to size and decay conditions as well as at establishing the associated symbolic calculus. One such category, the bilinear Hörmander classes, plays a vital role in results concerning the boundedness of bilinear pseudodifferential operators in the setting of Lebesgue spaces in particular. The new results in this work focus on the study of bilinear pseudodifferential operators with symbols in weighted Besov spaces of product type. Unlike the Hörmander classes, symbols in these Besov spaces are not required to possess in finitely many derivatives satisfying size or decay conditions. Even without this much smoothness, boundedness properties on Lebesgue spaces are obtained for bilinear operators with symbols in certain Besov spaces. Important tools in the proofs of these new results include the demonstration of appropriate estimates and the development of a symbolic calculus for some of the Besov spaces along with duality arguments. In addition to the new boundedness results and as a byproduct of studying operators with symbols in Besov spaces, it is possible to quantify the smoothness of the symbols, in terms of the conditions that define the Hörmander classes, that is sufficient for boundedness of the operators in the context of Lebesgue spaces.

AbstractWe consider a logic used to describe sets of configurations of distributed systems, whose network topologies can be changed at runtime, by reconfiguration programs. The logic uses inductive definitions to describe networks with an unbounded number of components and interactions, written using a multiplicative conjunction, reminiscent of Bunched Implications [37] and Separation Logic [39]. We study the complexity of the satisfiability and entailment problems for the configuration logic under consideration. Additionally, we consider the robustness property of degree boundedness (is every component involved in a bounded number of interactions?), an ingredient for decidability of entailments.

We study the notion of boundedness in the context positive existential rules, that is, wether there exists an upper bound to the depth of the chase procedure, that is independent from the initial instance. By focussing our attention on the oblivious and the semi-oblivious chase variants, we give a characterization of boundedness in terms of FO-rewritability and chase termination. We show that it is decidable to recognize if a set of rules is bounded for several classes of rules and outline the complexity of the problem.

Abstract:
A cascade system of an autonomous underwater vehicle is considered. It consists of the nonlinear equation of motion and the equations of actuator dynamics. In the motion equation, unmatched uncertainties are taken into account, including the modeling errors and the bounded disturbances. The modeling errors result from the parameter errors, the ignored high-order modes and unmodelled dynamics. The bounded disturbances refer to environment forces or unknown random disturbances. To obtain accurate manoeuvring of the underactuated system, a hybrid robust controller is proposed by using backstepping Lyapunov functions. A two-layer feedforward neural-network is applied to compensate the modeling errors and the derivatives of desired control inputs, while the H∞ control strategy is used to achieve the L2-gain performance with respect to the bounded disturbances. The on-line tuning algorithms of the neural-network weights are given. The uniformly ultimately bounded stabilities of the tracking errors and the neural-network weights errors are analyzed. Moreover, selection of the gains in controller is recommended by analysis of the upper boundedness of errors. Simulation results have demonstrated the validity of the controller proposed.

Abstract:
Let us assume a bounded scalar function ? : Q = I × ? ? ?0, 1?, I ? R, ? ? R3, where Q is an open bounded domain and its discrete counterpart ?h defined on a computational mesh Qh = Ih × ?h. The problem of redistribution of ?h over ?h ensuring the scalar boundedness while maintaining the invariance of R ?h ?h dV is surprisingly frequent within the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The present contribution is motivated by the case arising from coupling Lagrangian particle tracking and particle deposition within ?h with Eulerian CFD computation. We propose an algorithm for ?h redistribution that is (i) based on fluxes over the computational cells faces, i.e. suitable for finite volume (FV) computations, (ii) localized, meaning that a cell ?h P with ?hP > 1 affects only its closest neighbors with ?h < 1, and (iii) designed for parallel computations leveraging the standard domain decomposition methods.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a new higher-order bounded scheme, WACEB, for approximating the convective fluxes in the transport equations. The weighted-average formulation is used for interpolating the variables at cell faces and the weighted-average coefficient is determined from normalized variable formulation and total variation diminishing (TVD) constrains to ensure the boundedness of solution. The new scheme is tested by solving three problems: 1) a pure convection of a box-shaped step profile in an oblique velocity field; 2) a sudden expansion of an oblique velocity field in a cavity, and; 3) a laminar flow over a fence. The results obtained by the present WACEB were compared with the UPWIND and the QUICK schemes and showed that this scheme has at least the second-order accuracy while ensuring boundedness of solutions. Moreover, it was demonstrated that this scheme produces results that better agree with the experimental data in comparison with other schemes.

Abstract:
We address the problem of model checking first-order dynamic systems where new objects can be injected in the active domain during execution. Notable examples are systems induced by a first-order action theory, e.g., expressed in the Situation Calculus. Recent results have shown that, under the state-boundedness assumption, such systems, in spite of having a first-order representation of the state, admit decidable model checking for full first-order mu-calculus. However, interestingly, model checking remains undecidable in the case of first-order LTL (LTL-FO). In this paper, we show that in LTL-FOp, which is the fragment of LTL-FO in which quantification is over objects that persist along traces, model checking state-bounded systems becomes decidable over finite and infinite traces. We then employ this result to show how to handle monitoring of LTL-FOp properties against a trace stemming from an unknown state-bounded dynamic system, simultaneously considering the finite trace up to the current point, and all its possibly infinite future continuations.
