Full textThis thesis addresses the challenge of evaluating candidate logical formulas, with a specific focus on axioms, by synergistically combining machine learning with symbolic reasoning. This innovative approach facilitates the automatic discovery of axioms, primarily in the evaluation phase of generated candidate axioms. The research aims to solve the issue of efficiently and accurately validating these candidates in the broader context of knowledge acquisition on the semantic Web.Recognizing the importance of existing generation heuristics for candidate axioms, this research focuses on advancing the evaluation phase of these candidates. Our approach involves utilizing these heuristic-based candidates and then evaluating their compatibility and consistency with existing knowledge bases. The evaluation process, which is typically computationally intensive, is revolutionized by developing a predictive model that effectively assesses the suitability of these axioms as a surrogate for traditional reasoning. This innovative model significantly reduces computational demands, employing reasoning as an occasional "oracle" to classify complex axioms where necessary.Active learning plays a pivotal role in this framework. It allows the machine learning algorithm to select specific data for learning, thereby improving its efficiency and accuracy with minimal labeled data. The thesis demonstrates this approach in the context of the semantic Web, where the reasoner acts as the "oracle," and the potential new axioms represent unlabeled data. This research contributes significantly to the fields of automated reasoning, natural language processing, and beyond, opening up new possibilities in areas like bioinformatics and automated theorem proving. By effectively marrying machine learning with symbolic reasoning, this work paves the way for more sophisticated and autonomous knowledge discovery processes, heralding a paradigm shift in how we approach and leverage the vast expanse of data on the semantic Web

Full textThe importance of cultural heritage documentation increases in parallel with the risks to which it is exposed, such as wars, uncontrolled urban development, natural disasters, neglect and inappropriate conservation techniques or strategies. In addition, this documentation is a fundamental tool for the assessment, the conservation, and the management of cultural heritage. Consequently, this tool allows us to estimate the historical, scientific, social and economic value of this heritage. According to several international institutions dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, there is an urgent need to develop computer solutions to facilitate and support the documentation of poorly documented cultural heritage especially in developing countries where there is a lack of resources. Among these countries, Palestine represents a relevant case study in this issue of lack of documentation of its heritage. To address this issue, we propose an approach of knowledge acquisition and extraction in the context of poorly documented heritage. We take as a case study the church of the Nativity in Palestine and we put in place our theoretical approach by the development of a platform for the acquisition and extraction of heritage knowledge. Our solution is based on the semantic technologies, which gives us the possibility, from the beginning, to provide a rich ontological description, a better structuring of the information, a high level of interoperability and a better automatic processing without additional efforts.Additionally, our approach is evolutionary and reciprocal because the acquisition of knowledge (in structured form) improves the extraction of heritage knowledge from unstructured text and vice versa. Therefore, the interaction between the two components of our system as well as the heritage knowledge develop and improve over time especially that our system uses manual contributions and validations of the automatic results (in both components) by the experts to optimize its performance

Full textThis Ph. D. Thesis addresses the issue of accessing the content of digital texts, in so as it is linked to the expression of temporal location. The aim of this work is twofold: it consists in conciliating a linguistic approach and an applied approach, to participate in the development of new tools for text mining, information retrieval and knowledge management - new tools that would able to take advantage of the semantics of temporal information expressed in texts. It is thus both about implementing interaction systems and modeling the semantics of one the most salient textual units that contributes to anchor in time the situations described in texts: temporal locating adverbials. The linguistic analysis aims to show that language engineering can benefit from considering in a new way the phenomena of temporal location, by uncovering the different operations at work in temporal locating adverbials. Pinpointing the semantic values of these operations, we show that it becomes possible to develop new Information Retrieval systems, able of processing queries involving both a calendar criterion and a set of keywords, such as "universities in the early twelfth century", A for instance. We show that it also becomes possible to interact with stnrctured data describing temporal information, both for search process and for data semi-automatic enrichment

Full textThe "Authorization Exercise Procedure" is a device that concerns all doctors with diplomas outside the European Union. It was introduced in 2007 by law "CMU of 27 July 1999", supplemented by "Law of Social Security Financing" of 21 December 2008, amended by the Law "2012-157 of 1 February 2012", The last law concerned, was No. 2016-1888 of 28 December 2016 on the modernization, development and protection of mountain territories, put an end to the regularization of these doctors. Since the implementation of Law 2012-157 from 1 February 2012 to the end of 2016, the Fiscal Authorization Procedure has 26,562 registrations and 14,647 presentations, of which 4866 were received in the Knowledge Verification Exercise Authorization Procedure. We examined the results of the Knowledge Verification tests with in-depth analyzes. Between 2012 and 2016, List A received the highest number of candidates for the Knowledge Test, 21123 registrations, 10007 presentations. The success rate of List A varies between 15% and 19%, knowing that List A is a list that collects all newcomers, the Knowledge Testing tests for this list is a competition. List B received 562 entries, including 413 entries between 2012 and 2016 with a pass rate of 24% to 41%. The tests for this list are in the form of an examination. List C received 4877 entries, of which 4,227 entries between 2012 and 2016 and the success rate is 56% to 80%. List C is also an examination that gathers all the doctors with diplomas outside the European Union who are already established in France. We have observed that the disappearance of the list C is partly due to the device of the Exercise Authorization Procedure which allows the regularization of the doctors with diploma outside the European Union. Law 2012-157 of February 1, 2012, which modifies the conditions and the perimeter of participation of the candidates in the tests of verification of the Knowledge is one of the causes of transfer of the candidates from List A to List C. Finally, the doctors registered on the board of the French Medical Association, and coming from The Exercise Authorization Procedure, occupy a proportion which is about 10% in certain departments in France. This figure shows the number of these doctors is almost as important as before and that their presence is demanded in the whole of France. In some départements, we have seen that the presence of doctors with diplomas outside the European Union increases the territorial medical density in France, demonstrating the importance of their presence at the local level, as well as in rural and mountain areas. The only control of the entry of doctors with diplomas outside the European Union is not sufficient; The continuing training of these doctors should be considered in order to improve their medical level of practice and the territorial reorientation of the facility could be a solution that would increase the supply of care at the local level

Full textThrough this research, we are looking to develop Critical Thinking Skills and Creative Thinking Skills, as well as the acquisition of knowledge in a group of students in college schools in Syria, through the application of the Freinet method in the learning process. To validate the hypothesis of the research, we taught two groups – control & experimental – of students a unit of a science S.V.T. manual. Two styles were used: the first group was taught by the traditional method (control group), the second taught by the method of Freinet (experimental group). To measure the development of the Critical Thinking Skills and the Creative Thinking Skills in students, we designed two tests: the first, to measure the Critical Thinking Skills, and the second, to measure the Creative Thinking Skills. To measure the development of the students' level of knowledge acquisition, we designed a traditional test about the information contained in the educational unit in the S.V.T. book. The results of this study showed the effectiveness of this method in developing five skills of the critical thinking in students (inference, assumption, deduction, interpretation, and evaluation of the argument). The study also showed the effectiveness of this method in developing three skills of the creative thinking in students (originality, fluidity, and flexibility). In addition, the results of this study showed that the teaching by the Freinet method has contributed to the development of students' level of knowledge acquisition

Full textDeficits in daily living activities are one of the diagnostic criteria of the Developmental Coordination Disorder(DCD). Despite their impact on child’s autonomy, tooluse disorders involved in these daily activities remainunder-assessed (e.g., underlying processes, interpersonal profiles, persistence disease). To ourknowledge, there is no theoretical framework of tool useformulated in a specifically developmental perspective. This concept actually remains at the crossroads between models of the perceptual-motor development and theories about cognitive processes of problem resolution in children. Recent models developed inadults with apraxia suggest that tool use is a dialectical process between a technical reasoning (i.e., abstractanalysis of technical means and ends) and sensory motorskills (i.e., managed by the representations on the mechanical transformations to be operated). According to these models, we first aim to analyze the typical development of tool use and the underlying processes. We then explore the assumption of an atypical development of tool use in children with DCD. Ourfindings provide evidence for the involvement of technical reasoning in typical development of tool use. From a clinical perspective, the analysis of tool use impairment and underlying deficits confirm the relevance of such an assessment for the validation of the diagnostic criteria of the DCD
