Abstract:
This paper seeks to examine the outlook of the Serbian Minister in London, Mateja Mata Boskovic, during the first half of the Great War on the South Slav (Yugoslav) question - a unification of all the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in a single state, which was Serbia?s war aim. He found himself in close contact with the members of the Yugoslav Committee, an organisation of the irredentist Yugoslav ?migr?s from Austria-Hungary in which two Croat politicians, Frano Supilo and Ante Trumbic, were leading figures. In stark contrast to other Serbian diplomats, Boskovic was not enthusiastic about Yugoslav unification. He suspected the Croat ?migr?s, especially Supilo, of pursuing exclusive Croat interests under the ruse of the Yugoslav programme. His dealings with them were made more difficult on account of the siding of a group of British ?friends of Serbia?, the most prominent of which were Robert William Seton-Watson and Henry Wickham Steed, with the Croat ?migr?s. Though not opposed in principle to an integral Yugoslav unification, Boskovic preferred staunch defence of Serbian Macedonia from Bulgarian ambitions and the acquisition of Serb-populated provinces in southern Hungary, while in the west he seems to have been content with the annexation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, part of Slavonia and an outlet to the Adriatic Sea in Dalmatia. Finally, the reception of and reaction to Boskovic?s reports on the part of the Serbian Prime Minister, Nikola Pasic, clearly shows that the latter was determined to persist in his Yugoslav policy, despite the Treaty of London which assigned large parts of the Slovene and Croat lands to Italy and made the creation of Yugoslavia an unlikely proposition. In other words, Pasic did not vacillate between the ?small? and the ?large programme?, between Yugoslavia and Greater Serbia, as it has been often alleged in historiography and public discourse.

Abstract:
Over the centuries, young girls from the hinterland of Dubrovnik often went to Dubrovnik to serve in wealthy homes in order to provide for their basic living needs or sometimes even for their dowry. The position of this female population, which people of Dubrovnik called - spravljenice, cupe or godisnjice, was very unfavorable, although within literature they were presented as activists who fought for their rights. After the legalization of the Serbian Orthodox Church community in 1790, affluent Serbian families moved to Dubrovnik. These families significantly participated in the economic recovery of Dubrovnik during the next century. As a successful economic community, the Orthodox Serbs tried to provide a school for their children, which they finally succeeded in 1831 with a permanent teacher, George Nikolajevic. Girls also attended the school founded by Nikolajevic. This was the case until 1879, when in Dubrovnik was founded Bozo Boskovic Women?s school. Young women from Dubrovnik were also educated within the Association of Serbian Women from Dubrovnik, led by Teodora Boskovic. Hence, this article will present the process of education of Dubrovnik Orthodox Serbian women in the period from 1831 to the second decade of the twentieth century.

Abstract:
Classical philologist Darinka Grabovac dedicated the main part of her work to translat?ing and publishing Ragusean latinists. Besides the opus of Didak Pir and Rudjer Boskovic, she especially concentrated on the greatest Ragusean latinist-Ilija Crijevic. Her work includes translations of this poet and also analyses his theoretical tract. Her poetic works are Rhetoric and poetic in works of Ilija Crijevic and Aelius Lampridius Cervinus (1463-1520). Praelectio in explicationem Propertii. In the other group there is epic work De Epidauro and four ?oratio funebris-es? (to Ivan (Dzivo) Gucetic, Junije Sorkocevic, Matija Korvin and Pavla Dzamanjic). The studies of Darinka Grabovac are significant because they express thorough a point of wiev to Crijevics ?oratio funebris-es? significant persons and their work in the Republic of Ragusa.

Astrotourism is a specific, new and perspective form of tourism which stands out from the mass tourist movement with special program that includes visits to astronomical observatories, with required astronomical observations. his form of tourism is considered to be "niche tourism" or special form of tourism which is intended for individuals or small groups, creating a diversity of offers in destinations. Astrotourism is now a modest, but not negligible part of the tourist destinations that wish to enrich its tourist offer. Like other small countries, Serbia has no spectacular planetarium, giant observatories and telescopes, but there are sufficient resources, with an interesting history, on the basis of which it can offer to astrotourists original programs whose carrier should be Astronomical Society "Rudjer Boskovic" in collaboration with the Astronomical Observatory in Belgrade.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the phenomenon of additive plural morphology being used to denote the associative plural in a variety of languages. A novel empirical generalization is proposed: Languages with identical additive and associative plural morphology lack free standing definite articles. This follows a line of generalizations made by Boskovic (2008, 2012), who argues that languages without free standing definite articles do not project the DP layer, though the proposed generalization groups affixal article languages with languages without articles (see also Talic (2017)). I propose a new analysis of associative plurals that yields the empirical generalization for free. I argue that Num, the position of additive plural morphology, moves to Associative, which heads a projection on top of the nominal domain. This movement operation is blocked by the presence of D/DP in free standing definite article languages.

Abstract:
No matter the war distraction and weak capacities and tradition in the science, especially in physics and studies of atomistics, socialist Yugoslavia started with ambitious project in the scientific nuclear research. After the political conflict with Soviet Union and People’s Democracy states, gathered around the Cominform Resolution in June 1948, a basis for nuclear research were established: the nuclear research institutes were formed, their premisses and laboratories started to be built, different equipment were obtained, and the work has started. Institute in Vinca near Belgrade was established in January 1948 (in mid-1950s named “Biris Kidric”). Then in 1949, the Institute “Jozef Stefan” was formed in Ljubljana, and in 1950 in Zagreb, the Institute “Rudjer Boskovic”. All those institutes had the task to carry project consisted of fundamental research in areas of atomic and nuclear physics and adoption of the nuclear energy in civil purposes. From its initial steps, the project was under the firm control and scrutiny of highest state institutions and federal State Security Service (UDB-a). Moreover, in the highest political circles, a hidden and unrealistic ambition emerged that this project should led to creatin of nuclear weapon. In March 1955, a Federal Commission for Nuclear Energy was formed as the body which had a task to run, control and coordinate all nuclear research and to create general state policy on this issue. By the mid and late 1950s, a centralized nuclear programme was developed thanks to large investment of the Yugoslav state, developed international cooperation and finally Soviet assistance. All the three institutes in Belgrade, Zagreb and Ljubljana were connected with formal ties and linked to the state bodies that coordinated the nuclear research. Inter-institute meetings were organized to coordinate the activities of all three institutes. Their representatives were members of the Federal Commission for Nuclear Energy and its respective bodies. No matter working on same project, the cooperation between three institutes was hampered with conflicts of the representatives of the institutes caused by different standpoints to the state policy, intentions to operate more independently, to have a better position in scientific system of Yugoslavia, by resistance to federal authorities, mutual rivalry, strive for better budget allowances and finally by the personal misunderstandings of the scientists in each of the three institute. Such attitudes hampered the unity and efficiency of the centralized state nuclear programme. At the end of the 1950s, no matter the resistance from the scientist belonging to all of three institutes, an orientation of the nuclear programme for building the nuclear plants prevailed. Institutes should support such state activities. However, during the mid-1960s, in the process of slow weakening of the federal Yugoslav state, interest of the highest political circles for nuclear research constantly deceased. Until the end of this decade Federal Commission for Nuclear Energy was disbanded and centralized nuclear program ceased to exist.

Abstract:
Chapter 1 revolves around Josef Tal’s 1955 opera Saul at Ein-Dor, whose libretto is word-for-word the narrative given in 1 Samuel 28. Through this opera the chapter examines the actualization of the Bible in Hebrew culture and its promotion of territorial nationalism, as well as the artistic formulations that contested the literalist way Zionists had selectively appropriated the Bible. Under the purview of what Anita Shapira terms “biblical literalism” and Jean-Christophe Attias calls “Zionist biblocentrism,” the literal reading of selected texts facilitated a national allegory that actualized tropes of return, of redemption, and of territorial expansionism. To understand the cultural networks activated by such readings, the chapter studies the works of Ben-Haim, Orgad, Boskovich, and additional works by Tal. A parallel discussion on the portrayals of King Saul in modern Hebrew poetry complements the entire narrative, and a thorough analysis of the post-tonal devices in Tal’s opera concludes the chapter.

In Chapter 9, “United Kingdom: The Butterfly Effect,” Gavin Littlejohn, Ghela Boskovich, and Richard Prior of the Financial Data and Technology Association chart the origins of the United Kingdom’s Open Banking regime beginning with the European Union’s plans to revise its Payment Services Directive almost a decade ago. The United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority seized the opportunity to enhance the EU approach, and the UK approach has since served as an example for a number of other countries. The authors tell a detailed story of the UK Open Banking journey, including the establishment of the Open Banking Implementation Entity, which is responsible for coordinating the delivery of Open Banking in the UK market. The United Kingdom developed its own standards-based approach, rather than follow the European Union’s specification-oriented approach. The authors describe these divergent paths and detail how the market has been developing since the United Kingdom’s implementation, sharing lessons learned and examining expected future trends.

Abstract The period from 1931 to 1938 was marked by a major upheaval in the musical scene of the Jewish community of Palestine (the Yishuv). Scores of well-trained and fully professional musicians as well as a sophisticated and discriminating audience arrived from Central Europe to Palestine during this time, with the local musical establishment becoming dramatically more vibrant and diversified as a result. Within less than a decade, the Palestine Orchestra (nowadays the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra), 1 the Palestine Broadcast Service and professional chamber ensembles were all founded. There also came into being a community of some thirty migrant composers whose promising careers in Europe had been ended with the ascent to power of antisemitic regimes.2 Upon arrival in Palestine they not only had to go through the agony of resettlement common to all immigrants but were immediately faced with the challenge of leading the way toward the formation of a national musical style. Yet the components and traits of such a style were shrouded in controversy and ideological polemics.
