One of them is about the accountability of boarding schools which is rich in religious values and culture as a form of the spread of Islam. The dynamic life of boarding schools has been proven with the involvement of active participation in providing service to the community and many aspects of life that always accompany it. Interestingly, in terms of financial resources, the pesantren depends not only on the parents of the students, but also other sources of funding. The existence of this mandate, then boarding schools are definitely required to conduct financial accountability. These principles are very in line with the principles of Islamic law. It is closely related to surat Al-Baqarah verse 282 and 283 goals for the benefit of the people, i.e. If there is a transaction then write so that measurements obtained in a fair manner, not preferential treatment and is not reduced (ash-Syu'ara v. 181-184). Abstract:
Accumulatively, the number of female students who stay in Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia is higher than that of male students. However, the reality is that this fact is not directly proportional to the existence of education to strengthen the rights of female students in Islamic boarding schools along with the curriculum and educational materials of Islamic boarding schools that tend to position women as male objects. This can be seen by teaching the Kitab Uqud al-Lujjain which is considered not to reflect gender equality. This article aims to examine the methods used by Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz al-Qur'an Ebqory Jember on the issue of strengthening women's rights among students. This study uses a qualitative research method in which data related to the object of research are obtained through in-depth observation, interviews, and literature review. This data was then analyzed and written descriptively-critically which resulted in a clear conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the strategy of strengthening women's rights in Ebqory is carried out by two methods, namely theoretically and practically. Theoretically, strengthening women's rights is done by studying the Kitab Sittin al-Adliyah, a kitab that discusses 60 authentic hadiths about the position of women in Islam and gender studies training. Practically, students are provided with individual skill training such as training as a host and cooking training.

This paper provides detailed case studies of two active schools in the Waste Wise Schools Program and considers for each school how the Program started, what it meant to the school, the environmental, educational, social and economic outcomes of the Program and the key success factors. It discusses evidence that the Program has changed the thinking and behaviour of many families at the schools, suggesting that the children may be acting as catalysts to influence their parent's waste wise behaviour, i.e. having an intergenerational influence. Guidelines for promoting this influence are proposed.

Abstract:
Understanding the yellow book in pesantren tends to be very difficult and tedious. This is due to the complexity of mastering nahwu and sharraf and the methods used in pesantren are still classical methods. This prompted this research to analyze the Nubdhatul Bayan method as Basic Learning in understanding the yellow book in Islamic boarding schools. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research in Islamic boarding schools, especially in Ma'had Aly Nurul Jadid through data collection based on in-depth studies on observations, interviews and documentation, while the analysis technique used is data analysis techniques with the air flow model proposed by Miles & Huberman. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Nubdatul Bayan method as basic learning in understanding the yellow book in the tamhid ma'had aly Nurul Jadid class is very effective in facilitating prospective students in mastering the yellow book. The implications of this study make it possible to facilitate and accelerate a prospective mahasantri ma'had aly Nurul Jadid in understanding the yellow book.

Abstract:
The study aims to reveal the existence of the traditional pesantren education system (salaf) in shaping the morals of students in the midst of modernizing education. Traditional Islamic boarding schools are currently till a reference for the community, even thousands of people who participate in activities held by traditional pesantren, such as recitation and istighosah. The method used in this study was a case study using a qualitative research approach. This research had the subject of the kyai, teacher, male student, and female student at the Darul Falah Islamic Boarding School, OKU, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data collection techniques used in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. This study was analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s data analysis techniques : data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion and verification. This study found that the resilience of the pesantren education system in shaping the morals of students in the era of globalization had strong endurance and continuity because it has four system functions. First, the system of adaptation to the pesantren education environment is carried out with a twenty-four-hour education pattern to shape the students' morals. Second, Islamic boarding schools have educational goals to shape the personality of students who have noble characters. Third, the integration of pesantren has integrated both the institutional system and the curriculum. Fourth, there is the maintenance of the cultural pattern (latency) of the value system in the pesantren.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the ways in which the mobility of indigenous people in Victoria during the 1960s enabled them to resist the policy of assimilation as evident in the structures of schooling. It argues that the ideology of assimilation was pervasive in the Education Department’s approach to Aboriginal education and inherent in the curriculum it produced for use in state schools. This is central to the construction of the state of Victoria as being devoid of Aboriginal people, which contributes to a particularly Victorian perspective of Australia’s national identity in relation to indigenous people and culture. Design/methodology/approach This paper utilises the state school records of the Victorian Department of Education, as well as the curriculum documentation and resources the department produced. It also examines the records of the Aborigines Welfare Board. Findings The Victorian Education Department’s curriculum constructed a narrative of learning and schools which denied the presence of Aboriginal children in classrooms, and in the state of Victoria itself. These representations reflect the Department and the Victorian Government’s determination to deny the presence of Aboriginal children, a view more salient in Victoria than elsewhere in the nation due to the particularities of how Aboriginality was understood. Yet the mobility of Aboriginal students – illustrated in this paper through a case study – challenged both the representations of Aboriginal Victorians, and the school system itself. Originality/value This paper is inspired by the growing scholarship on Indigenous mobility in settler-colonial studies and offers a new perspective on assimilation in Victoria. It interrogates how curriculum intersected with the position of Aboriginal students in Victorian state schools, and how their position – which was often highly mobile – was influenced by the practices of assimilation, and by Aboriginal resistance and responses to assimilationist practices in their lives. This paper contributes to histories of assimilation, Aboriginal history and education in Victoria.

Abstract:
However, along with the times, pesantren have not only opened religious-based schools, but also public schools that provide general knowledge (natural, social, and language) to their students. Educational formalities in pesantren were also proposed so that pesantren alumni could continue their education to public schools. There are three main problems in this paper by reconstructing the pesantren education system, as follows; (1) the relationship between pesantren and the outside world, (2) the relationship between pesantren and science and technology, and (3) the epistemology of Islamic Science in Pesantren Sains (Trensains). The qualitativedescriptive method is the choice in this study. This research is a qualitative field study with case studies. In order to obtain comprehensive data and pay attention to the relationship between the data and the focus and objectives of the research, data collection in this study used three techniques, namely (1) interviews, (2) participant observation: (3) research documentation. Research activities in data analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From this research, it can be found that the interaction of science and technology with science cannot be denied. So pesantren must be prepared to deal with it. There are several Islamic boarding schools that have interacted with science and technology, both of which have greatly influenced the style of education, one of which is the Tebuireng Science Boarding School (Trensains). Santri are invited to study religion (Qur'an) as well as to study the verses of Kauniyah contained in it.Keywords: Interaction, Pesantren, Science, Technology

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report four case studies in Australia that respond to the question: “How have schools with a relatively high degree of autonomy used their increased authority and responsibility to make decisions that have led in explicit cause-and-effect fashion to higher levels of student achievement”? Design/methodology/approach A conventional case study methodology was adopted, framed by a review of evidence in the international literature. The studies were conducted in the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and Victoria. Senior leaders in systems of public education in these jurisdictions nominated schools which have had a relatively high degree of autonomy for at least two years; have achieved high levels of student achievement, or have shown noteworthy improvement; and are able to explain how the link between autonomy and achievement had been made. The four schools chosen from these nominations represented different types as far as level and location were concerned. Triangulation of sources was a feature of the studies. Findings The findings reveal that the schools were able to explain the links and that it was possible to map the cause-and-effect chain. Schools used their autonomy to select staff and allocate funds in their budgets, each being capacities that came with a higher level of autonomy. Leadership was important. Research limitations/implications The paper cautions against generalizing the findings. Originality/value There is international interest in the extent to which granting public schools a higher level of autonomy than has traditionally been the case in various national settings has had an impact on student achievement. These case studies go part of the way in describing what schools do when they successfully take up a higher level of authority and responsibility as one strategy in efforts to raise levels of achievement.

Pesantren Hidayatullah conducts public fundraising program by forming a charity organization, namely Baitul Maal Hidayatullah (BMH). The finding reveals that the majority of the fund raised from public is used to finance Hidayatullah’s schools and dakwa missions. Abstract:
In Australia, Aboriginal peoples have sought to exploit and challenge settler colonial schooling to meet their own goals and needs, engaging in strategic, diverse and creative ways closely tied to labour markets and the labour movement. Here, we bring together two case studies to illustrate the interplay of negotiation, resistance and compulsion that we argue has characterised Aboriginal engagements with school as a structure within settler colonial capitalism. Our first case study explains how Aboriginal families in Victoria and New South Wales deliberately exploited gaps in school record collecting to maintain mobility during the mid-twentieth century and engaged with labour markets that enabled visits to country. Our second case study explores the Strelley mob’s establishment of independent, Aboriginal-controlled bilingual schools in the 1970s to maintain control of their labour and their futures. Techniques of survival developed in and around schooling have been neglected by historians, yet they demonstrate how schooling has been a strategic political project, both for Aboriginal peoples and the Australian settler colonial state.

Abstract:
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is currently the most potent threat to educational systems, a crisis that may become disastrous. For the current study, a qualitative design within a case study tradition was implemented to investigate instructional barriers during COVID-19 faced by Indonesian teachers in Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren). Within this study, we applied a purposeful convenient sampling in which the access was obtained through communication with the principals of two Pesantren. Seven invited participants with more than ten years of teaching experience agreed to participate. Semi-structured interviews were addressed for data collection; each interview lasted from 40 to 50 min. The interviews were conducted in the participants’ mother tongue to provide an in-depth understanding of their perceptions, ideas, and arguments regarding instructional barriers during the COVID-19 outbreak. The thematic analysis revealed three major findings regarding the barriers; technological barriers, financial barriers, and pedagogical barriers affecting instructional activities in the two Pesantren. Based on the three themes, the development of a qualitative conceptual map of teachers’ instructional barriers was finalized. Recommendations are also proposed by the participants and the study for the betterment of Indonesian Islamic education facing future similar outbreaks.

Abstract:
Indonesia is the second largest global source of marine plastic after China. Plastic waste, together with toxic smoke from extensive unregulated rubbish burning in homes and businesses, are grave public health threats in Indonesia. This paper presents a case study in Ubud, Bali of a community-based recycling and waste sorting project - Rumah Kompos –which demonstrates the potential of religious wisdom and belief to contribute to help solve Indonesia’s waste problem. The cultural role of religions in the case study is part of a larger Indonesian, and world religions, phenomenon in which churches, mosques and temples, and faith-based schools (and in Indonesia Islamic boarding schools or pesantren) have made efforts to sponsor pro-environmental behaviours at local community level. The paper also recalls the relevance of anthropological studies of religion, especially Mary Douglas’ classic study Purity and Danger, in understanding the connected genealogies of waste and religion. Douglas theorises that identification and regulation of hazardous and ‘polluting’ practices, concerning bodily fluids, food, clothing, housing, habitable land, potable water and sexual relationships was central to the social role of traditional religions. The disturbance to this long-established function of religion occasioned by the speed and scale of adoption of modern technological innovations, and of a modern ‘consumer lifestyle’, points to an under-studied dialectic between religion and waste which, in a nation as religiously active as Indonesia, ought to be included in both the conceptualisation of, and policy-making concerning, plastic and waste management.

Abstract:
<p>Nationalism is a form of expression of the love of citizens in the country's homeland. Today many young generations start to fade the soul of its nationalism so researchers want to know how the institution of boarding schools implanted nationalism to the students. This research took location in Sunan Gunungjati Ba’alawy Boarding School, Gunungpati, Semarang. The theory used in this study was the action theory put forward by Max Weber. This type of research is case studies, data is taken with in-depth interview techniques, observations, and documentation. Researcher use purposive sampling techniques and to ensure the validity of the used data triangulation source. From the results of the study can be concluded that the strategi of Sunan Gunung Jati Ba’alawy Boarding School in instilling nationalism is done with daily activities conducted by students, such as when living in the hut, to do something inside the hut. Through the activities of the week and every month, such as Roan, grave pilgrimage, study, Khitobah, and so forth. And also annual activities, such as activities on Islamic holidays, the Prophet's mawlid days, to the agenda activities of the country. Some factors that support among them are the concern of the surrounding community, teachers who can always be an example, the enthusiasm of students, and also good relations with the TNI and Police. But there are some things that become barriers, such as natural condition, students who had less sensitive to the surrounding. The implementation of this research will be expected to be a good example of other formal and non-formal education in cultivating nationalism to the younger generation.</p><p> </p>

Abstract:
SUMMARYAlthough the involvement of common childhood infections in the aetiology of acute appendicitis has long been conjectured, supporting evidence is largely restricted to a disparate set of clinical case reports. A systematic population-based analysis of the implied comorbid associations is lacking in the literature. Drawing on a classic epidemiological dataset, assembled by the School Epidemics Committee of the United Kingdom's Medical Research Council (MRC) in the 1930s, this paper presents a historical analysis of the association between termly outbreaks of each of six common childhood infections (chickenpox, measles, mumps, rubella, scarlet fever and whooping cough) and operated cases of acute appendicitis in 27 English public boarding schools. When controlled for the potential confounding effects of school, year and season, multivariate negative binomial regression revealed a positive association between the level of appendicitis activity and the recorded rate of mumps (β=0·15, 95% CI 0·07–0·24,P<0·001). Non-significant associations were identified between appendicitis and the other sample infectious diseases. Subject to data caveats, our findings suggest that further studies are required to determine whether the comorbid association between mumps and appendicitis is causal.

Abstract— Education and the body are closely related. School as a means of education does not only transfer knowledge to students, but also hones awareness of their bodies. However, in the field, it shows that Madurese female students who study in Madura do not realize that their bodies are the objects of power relations that operate through a hidden curriculum. This research tries to explain the cause. In order to obtain data about it, a case study approach, as a cluster of qualitative methods, was used in this field work. The data, which were mostly obtained from unstructured interviews, were then explained using social body studies. The results of this study indicate that the body as an object of power relations appears in the regulation of the use of the headscarf (“Jilbab”)for Madurese female students, especially those who attend SMPN 1 Labang, Bangkalan. Thus, the public schools there seem to discipline Madurese female students as if they are undergoing a regular Islamic boarding school or madrasah education almost everyday life. Abstract:
This study aims to determine the integration system of pesantren education with school education in SMP and Pesantren Bumi Cendekia Yogyakarta as an effort to find out how the education model combines pesantren education with school education. This research uses qualitative methods, namely in-depth case studies of individuals or groups, that are carried out over a relatively long period of time, continuously and with a single object. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using triangulation of sources and techniques. The data analysis technique was done by transcription, coding, grouping, and comparing and constrating. The pattern of integration systems in SMP and Pesantren Bumi Cendekia is divided into three, namely the concept of an integrated vision and mission, institutional integration; integration of curriculum and learning; and management related to planning, implementation, and evaluation of the integration of pesantren education with school education in SMP and Bumi Cendekia Islamic boarding schools in Yogyakarta.

Abstract:
AbstractObjectiveAn increasing focus on legislation, policy and guidance on the nutritional content of school food has in part been in response to the limited impact of more behavioural or educational approaches. However, there is a risk that a sole focus on policy-level action may lead to neglect of the important contribution that more behavioural approaches can make as components of effective, coordinated, multilevel action to improve the dietary intake of schoolchildren. The current paper aims to highlight the potential importance of viewing alternative approaches as complementary or synergistic, rather than competing.DesignThe socio-ecological and RE-AIM frameworks are used to provide a theoretical rationale and demonstrate the importance of explicitly identifying the interdependence of policies, interventions and contextual structures and processes. School food case study evidence is used to exemplify how understanding and exploiting these interdependencies can maximise impact on dietary outcomes.SettingCase studies of trials in schools in the UK (South West England and Wales) and Australia (Victoria).SubjectsSchoolchildren.ResultsThe case studies provide examples to support the hypothesis that the reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation and maintenance of school food policies and interventions can be maximised by understanding and exploiting the interdependence between levels in the socio-ecological framework.ConclusionsRather than being seen as competing alternatives, diverse approaches to improving the diets of schoolchildren should be considered in terms of their potential to be complementary and synergistic, acting at multiple levels to improve acceptability, fidelity, effectiveness and sustainability.

Abstract:
Existing studies have explored philanthropy as fund management practices for economic empowerment of the poor, or building infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and Islamic boarding schools. This paper portrays another aspect, the role and strategy of Islamic philanthropy organisations in dakwah movement among newly-converted (muallaf) in Yogyakarta. Dakwah activities are normally conducted by dai in mosques through regular sermons. However, that method was considered as less effective as the task of dai is seen to be accomplished when the muallaf recite shahadat. The data here is drawn from a fieldwork at Mualaf Center Yogyakarta (MCY), and its collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa and Rumah Zakat. This research aimed to explore new forms of action by philanthropic organisations in their use of public fund. Through a qualitative approach and a case study method at MCY, this research found that MCY was in partnership with Dompet Dhuafa dan Rumah Zakat in their work. MCY was in charge in supporting spiritual and psychological aspect of muallaf, while Dompet Dhuafa and Rumah Zakat were in charge in empowering the economic and welfare of muallaf. Before receiving such support, the muallaf faced difficulties in conducting Islamic teachings such as praying, fasting, and ablution. After receiving the support, they found easier in fulfilling those.

Abstract:
The research revealed and explained the main contradictions in the impact of learning environment on the formation of interpsychological supports that allow a graduate with intellectual disabilities (ID) to make an independent professional choice and successfully find a job in the future. The study involved graduates of general education schools and special boarding schools with ID (N=742) living in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. The study consistently proved that the psychological mechanisms that determine the ability of a student with ID to perform actions according to a known algorithm, to manifest independence, to accept workplace discipline, formed by the learning environment of a correctional school, do not work in case of any change in conditions, methods of activity and multitasking present in the open labour market. The level of development of logical operations in a homogeneous environment does not lead the student to the search for a new solution to the problem; quite the reverse, it leads to the wrong solution or to the refusal of activity. The experiment indicated that the learning environment that develops the social competence in students with ID, triggers the mechanisms of group interaction in a heterogeneous environment to expand the boundaries of their social experience and transfer skills to new conditions of activity is the key leverage that activates the thinking and search activity.

Abstract:
Financial inclusion refers to the use of financial services such as electronic money. Digital money receives tremendous attention globally, from buyers to sellers, as an alternative form of payment. The passions on this technology enormous and infectious, therefore attracting more followers from large merchant to smaller one including the cooperative. School cooperative serves as a center of economic with a wide range of activities, such as mini market, canteen, to serve the needs of students, teachers, and people in the surrounding area. One of the programs launched by the Central Bank of Indonesia is a financial inclusion to increase the financial literacy of people living in the remote area. In this case, Islamic conventional boarding school cooperative can become influencers in most of the surrounding community to attract people’s interest to adopt the technology. The purpose of this inquiry is to find out factors influencing the adoption of mobile payment and user’s intention and decision to adopt m-payment. Authors proposed an innovative research model based on the theory of technology acceptance model with the innovation characteristics of the diffusion of innovations, perceived security and intention to recommend the technology. The research model has empirically tested at 205 employees Islamic boarding schools across four regions. The independent variables under study include perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived credibility, subjective norms, and trust while the dependent variables are mobile payment adoption and intention to recommend the technology. The study uses structural equation modeling as a tool for analysis. The result indicated that perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and subjective norms have a significant influence on the adoption of mobile payment. The study also confirmed the relevance of users’ intention to recommend mobile payment technology. Thus, future research needs to include social media campaigns and technology adoption studies. For researchers, the result of this study act as a basis for further refinement of personal technology acceptance model. For practitioners, understanding the key constructs is crucial to design, refine, and implement mobile payment services, applications, and products that achieve high consumer acceptance, value, and high rates of positive recommendations in social networks.
