Abstract:
Bluetooth low energy is an almost ubiquitous technology currently embedded in billions of power-constrained Internet of Things devices around the world. The Bluetooth mesh profile, released by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group in July 2017, allows Bluetooth low energy devices to form a mesh network, further enabling smart home and building applications where long-range connectivity is required. However, the current release of Bluetooth mesh profile still has power and deployment constraints that limit its applicability. To explore the viability of Bluetooth mesh profile in home/building automation applications, we built the Smart Doorbell: a proof-of-concept Bluetooth mesh profile–based visitor notification system for office spaces. The Smart Doorbell was implemented using a mesh network topology with nodes distributed across office building floors, serving as a real Internet of Things deployment and as a testbed for mesh network protocols. Similar Bluetooth mesh profile evaluations found in literature use mostly development kits and/or synthetic traffic in artificial settings; we contribute by using the Smart Doorbell, a system as close as possible to a minimum viable product, to evaluate power consumption and responsiveness as a proxy for product viability. This article presents the architecture of the Smart Doorbell, the viability evaluation results, and a direct comparison with FruityMesh, a competing Bluetooth low energy mesh network protocol. Overall, the fact that Bluetooth mesh profile devices can directly communicate with a user’s mobile phone (using Bluetooth low energy) considerably eases deployment and provisioning. However, the use of flooding to forward messages across the mesh network increases power consumption, precluding the use of battery-powered nodes on the network’s backbone and severely limiting the applicability of Bluetooth mesh profile in building automation.

Abstract:
Abstract: Home automation involves introducing a degree of computerized or automatic control to certain electrical and electronic systems in a building. A hardware system is installed to monitor and control the various appliances. The system would control the appliances based on its configuration. For example, it could automatically turn on the lights at a specified time in the evening, or it could measure the ambient light using a hardware sensor and turn on the lights when it grows dark. For example, one could turn on the air conditioning from the office, before leaving for home. This project demonstrates a simple home automation system that allows the user to control it with a wireless device such as a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The system allows the user to control each of the lights and fans individually. It can automatically turn off the main lights and turn on a night lamp at a specified time. By measuring the signal strength, it can detect when the user enters a room and automatically turn on the light and fans, and then automatically turn them off when the user leaves the room. Abstract:
Bluetooth is an important technical standard for short-range and low-power wireless communication. The home automation and entertainment (HAE) systems often make use of Bluetooth technology to link different Bluetooth devices and form Bluetooth networks. The security concerns of the HAE systems are raised due to massive deployment of the Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth standard mainly depends on the secure simple pairing (SSP) solution to protect the Bluetooth devices. Hence, we investigate the SSP solution according to the Bluetooth standard v5.0. The contributions are threefold. (1) A formal security model is proposed to evaluate SSP’s association models and authenticated link key. (2) We formally analyze two SSP protocols and present the security requirements for basic cryptographic modules in these SSP protocols. (3) We discuss the typical SSP applications in the HAE systems. Our results are useful to not only evaluating and designing the SSP protocols but also enhancing the security of the HAE systems in which the Bluetooth access is available.

The rapid and revolutionary advancement in technology has increased the demand for advanced ubiquitous mobile applications in our daily lives. Home automation system uses collective smart technology to elevate sphere of security and human living standards. Wireless Smart home systems have been prototyped by researchers to realize different applications in vast contexts. In this paper we propose a keyless smart home security system which uses Bluetooth as a communication protocol to automate door locks based on a security code and predefined user credentials. The system combines Android phone as a signal sender to dispatch the input signal from an end users side, Bluetooth communication module as signal receiver, ARDUINO microcontroller as CPU and servo motor and light emitting diodes as an output. The system integrates two modules: one of which is Arduino microcontroller which is responsible for authentication and verification of security code and allows servo motor to process the output according to the received input. The second is android Application which provides an interface to the user to set credentials and security code which is then transmitted to the Arduino microcontroller via Bluetooth technology. Since Arduino and Android are open source, hence implementation rate of the proposed system is inexpensive and feasible.

Abstract:
The agricultural industry has benefited from increased automation, especially in the field of automation. In the past, people cut their own lawn by hand with grass cutters. Because the use of petroleum and diesel engines causes pollutants and degradation of energy. Therefore, automated cutters should be used in place of the conventional ones, with batteries acting as the system's power source and allowing it to operate as directed. This research suggests a smart solar agriculture grass cutting robot that is IoT based. A Bluetooth module, Arduino Uno microcontroller, Node MCU, battery, solar panel, and other components are used to do this. Rechargeable batteries can be charged using a power source or a solar panel. The DC motor's rotational speed and direction are controlled by the motor driver, and Node MCU monitors the DC motor as the system's brain. The Bluetooth module keeps track of the grass cutter robot's movements. This paper is entirely powered by automation and clean energy sources.

Accounting for people is the first step for every manpower-based organization in today’s world. Hence, it takes asignificant amount of energy and value in the form of money from respective organizations for both implementinga suitable system for manpower management as well as maintaining that same system. Although this amount ofexpenditure for big organizations is near to nothing and rather just a formality, it does not hold as much truth forsmall organizations, such as schools, colleges, and even universities, to a certain degree. This is the first point. The second point for discussion is that much work has been done to solve this issue. Various technologies, likebiometrics, RFID, Bluetooth, GPS, and QR Code, have been used to tackle the issues of attendance collection. This study paves the path for researchers by reviewing practical methods and technologies used for existingattendance systems
