Abstract:
Results of measurements of optical bistability in a guest — host polymer structure are presented. A new type of polymer has been elaborated and its optical properties are described. The Fabry–Perot system has been used and the bistabile behaviour has been observed. The second order cascaded χ(2)(ω): χ(2)(2ω) process, leading to intensity dependent phase shift, has been suggested as the mechanism leading to this effect. A satisfactory model of this phenomenon was formulated.

Abstract:
This paper studies the optical bistability in a degenerate three-level Λ-type atomic system in a unidirectional optical ring cavity. The effect of quantum interference on the phase control of the optical bistabilty is then discussed. It is shown that the optical bistability changes with the intensity of coupling and the rate of an incoherent pumping field. The possibility of creating an optical multistability (OM) by the intensity of coupling field relative phase between the applied fields, and the rate of an incoherent pump field has also been discussed.

Abstract Set-Reset (SR) latch or flip-flop is bistabile circuit. The circuit maintains a binary state indefinitely until directed by an input signal (clock signal) to switch state. Sequential logic circuits for specific application can be implemented by using SR flip-flop and external gates. In this article, SR latch and SR flip-flop is proposed using electro-optic effect inside lithium–niobate-based Mach–Zehnder interferometers (MZIs). The MZI structures have the powerful capability of switching an optical input signal to a desired output port. The article constitutes a mathematical description of the proposed device and thereafter simulation using MATLAB. The study is verified using beam propagation method (BPM).

Abstract:
Spatio-temporal control of the self-ordered structures by use of the time-dependent oscillatory fields of zero-time average, either deterministic (temporally regular) or noisy (temporally irregular) ones, has today become a fundamental field of multidisciplinary research in a wide variety of the highly nonlinear systems of the different physical origin. The self-ordered bistable fronts in the essentially dissipative systems of the reaction-diffusion type, that are formulated by parabolic partial differential equations, are investigated in the dissertation. The objective of the research is to investigate new possibilities of controlling the directed net motion of the self-ordered bistable fronts by the deterministic and stochastic zero-mean ac forces using computer modeling and analytic tools. In order to achieve the objective mathematical and numerical models were applied, computer software was created and new possibilities of controlling the directed net motion of bistable fronts by use of the zero-average periodic, quasi-periodic and bounded noise fields were investigated.

Tikslui pasiekti buvo sudaryti matematinis bei skaitinis modeliai, sukurta programinė įranga ir skaitiškai ištirtos savaiminių bistabilių frontų valdymo galimybės, naudojant periodinius, kvaziperiodinius ir stochastinius nulinius laukus.

Disertacijoje nagrinėjami savame susidarantys bistabilūs frontai disipatyviose sistemose, kurios aprašomos netiesinėmis parabolinėmis diferencialinėmis lygtimis su dalinėmis išvestinėmis. Abstract:
Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na analýzu chování magnetopiezoelastického kmitajícího nosníku. V teoretické části jsou odvozeny diskretizované parametry, které popisují reálnou soustavu jako model s jedním stupněm volnosti. Tento model je následně použit pro kvalitativní i kvantitativní analýzu chování tohoto harvesteru. Frekvenční odezva harmonicky buzeného systému je zkoumána v dvouparametrické nebo tříparametrické analýze v závislosti na amplitudě buzení, elektrické zátěži a vzdálenosti mezi magnety. Posledně zmíněný parametr je v práci tím hlavním, proto je vliv vzdálenosti magnetů zkoumán také s pomocí bifurkačních diagramů. Tyto diagramy byly navíc použity k vytvoření oscilační "mapy", která pro každé zatěžovací podmínky ukazuje, jakou vzdálenost magnetů je třeba nastavit, aby bylo generováno nejvíce energie. Práce je doplněna o ukázky několika jevů, které mohou značně ovlivnit chování systému, pokud se nejdená o čistě harmonické buzení.
