To analyze the middle latency auditory evoked potential index (MLAEPi), compared to the standard bispectral index (BIS), as a method for evaluating the sedation level in drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE). In this controlled clinical study on a sample of 99 obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) or snoring patients, we compared the MLAEPi with the BIS after propofol infusion during the standard DISE technique in order to define the MLAEPi values within the observational window of the procedure. The DISE procedure was divided into eight steps, and we collected both MLAEPi and BIS data values from the same patient in every step. The MLAEPi showed a faster response than the BIS after propofol infusion during DISE. Therefore, the clinical use of the MLAEPi in evaluating the sedation level seems to be a good alternative to the current technological standards.

The present study was conducted to ascertain the quality of freshwater systems (RO treated, supply and tube well) in the rural and urban location of Hisar (29° 9' 6.6996'' N and 75° 43' 16.0428'' E), India with reference to drinking water quality standards recommended by BIS, India and WHO. Water samples were collected from selected rural and urban sites located in Hisar, India and analyzed for various physico-chemical parameters including TDS, pH, TH,HCO3- , Cl- , Ca2+and heavy metals such as Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Cd, In, Tl and Pb during the summer season of the year 2021.The collection and analysis of water samples were carried out following the standard protocols recommended by BIS, New Delhi, India. The obtained results were compared with BIS and WHO standards to check whether the levels of quality parameters are within the safe limits for drinking purposes or need any special attention with reference to health of the natives. The detailed trends of variation in the concentration levels of various parameters have been shown and discussed in this study.

Kein Wunder, schützen sie doch unseren Kopf und damit unser wertvollstes Gut. Moderne Industrieschutzhelme sind dazu bestimmt, schwere Verletzungen wie etwa Schädelbrüche zu verhindern. Aber sie könnten noch mehr Schutz bieten. Das schwedische Unternehmen MIPS hat eine Technologie entwickelt, die im Inneren von Schutzhelmen sogenannte Rotationsbewegungen reduzieren kann. Diese können unser Gehirn erheblich verletzen. Dennoch spielen sie in Teststandards von Industrieschutzhelmen bis dato keine Rolle.

The study involved investigating the performance of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) stabilized soil blocks amended with sugarcane bagasse ash (SBA). Locally available soil was tested for its properties and characterized as clay of medium plasticity. This soil was stabilized using 4% and 10% OPC for manufacture of blocks of size 19 cm × 9 cm × 9 cm. The blocks were admixed with 4%, 6%, and 8% SBA by weight of dry soil during casting, with plain OPC stabilized blocks acting as control. All blocks were cast to one target density and water content followed by moist curing for a period of 28 days. They were then subjected to compressive strength, water absorption, and efflorescence tests in accordance with Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) specifications. The results of the tests indicated that OPC stabilization resulted in blocks that met the specifications of BIS. Addition of SBA increased the compressive strength of the blocks and slightly increased the water absorption but still met the standard requirement of BIS code. It is concluded that addition of SBA to OPC in stabilized block manufacture was capable of producing stabilized blocks at reduced OPC content that met the minimum required standards.

Two novel biodegradable intravascular stents (BIS) with different structures are introduced. Braiding-structural BIS and Z-structural BIS were fabricated from polydioxanone (PDO) monofilament by a hand-braiding method with a perforated mold, imitating commercial stents that have been used clinically. The fabrication process of these two BIS is described and stent parameters, mechanical properties, and degradation properties are reported. The findings reveal that Z-structural BIS have higher porosity, smaller longitudinal shortening rate, and higher radial force and recovery rate compared with the braiding-structural stent. During the degradation process, braiding-structural BIS maintained their mechanical properties higher than international standards for 12 weeks, while Z-structural stents maintained them for 16 weeks.

Zusammenfassung Hintergrund Das multiple Myelom (MM) stellt eine maligne hämatologische Plasmazellerkrankung des meist älteren Patienten dar, bei der es durch neoplastische Zellpopulationen im Knochenskelett zu osteolytischen Knochendestruktionen kommt. Über 50% aller Myelompatienten erleiden im Krankheitsverlauf pathologische Frakturen. Mit rund 15% ist das MM der am häufigsten auftretende maligne Tumor der Wirbelsäule, wobei 8 – 10% eine tumorbedingte neurologische Ausfallsymptomatik aufzeigen. Die operative Therapie stellt bei Patienten mit MM neben der onkologischen, antineoplastischen Systemtherapie eine wesentliche supportive Behandlungsmaßnahme dar und dient der Rekonstruktion und Stabilisierung betroffener Skelettabschnitte nach myelomassoziierten Knochendestruktionen und der Behandlung begleitender Komplikationen. Methoden Auf Grundlage einer umfassenden Literaturrecherche, die selektiv in PubMed mit den Stichworten „multiple myeloma“ and „surgery“ or „fracture“ erfolgte, wurde die verfügbare Primär- und Sekundärliteratur zur Beurteilung der aktuellen operativen Therapieverfahren beurteilt. Eingeschlossen wurden deutsch- und englischsprachige systematische Reviews, Metaanalysen, klinische Studien und internationale Therapieempfehlungen von 1975 bis Frühjahr 2018. Diskussion Bei Auftreten von pathologischen Frakturen oder Instabilitäten des Skelettapparats aufgrund von tumorbedingten Knochendestruktionen sind stabilisierende Operationen für die Erhaltung und Wiederherstellung von Funktion und Beweglichkeit unumgänglich. Es werden absolute und relative Indikationsstellungen für eine operative Therapie des MM unterschieden, die sich nach Ausmaß und Befund stabilitätsgefährdender Knochenläsionen oder manifester pathologischer Frakturen sowie begleitender Komplikationen wie neurologische Ausfallserscheinungen und konservativ therapierefraktäre Knochenschmerzen richten. Das Spektrum operativer Versorgungsmöglichkeiten reicht im Bereich der Extremitäten von Verbundosteosynthesen mit verschiedenen Kraftträgern bis hin zu modularen Tumorendoprothesensystemen. Zur Stabilisierung von tumorbedingten Wirbelsäulendestruktionen kommen minimalinvasive Verfahren wie Kypho- und Vertebroplastien, aber auch selektive Dekompressionen sowie Fusionsspondylodesen und Wirbelkörperersatzverfahren zum Einsatz. Operationsmethode und Versorgungszeitpunkt sind individuell und in Abhängigkeit vom Risikoprofil und Prognose des Myelompatienten zu wählen. Grundsätzliches Ziel und Anspruch operativer Stabilisierungseingriffe sollte eine definitive und belastungsstabile Versorgung sein, die bei meist langem Krankheitsverlauf des Myelompatienten eine Restitutio ad Integrum gewährleistet. Postoperativ ist eine adjuvante Strahlentherapie zu empfehlen. Schlussfolgerung Die operative Therapie des MM nimmt eine Schlüsselrolle in der ganzheitlichen Behandlung des Myelompatienten ein, um Leidensdruck zu reduzieren und Funktion und Beweglichkeit der betroffenen Skelettabschnitte wiederherzustellen und damit Mobilität und Lebensqualität für den Tumorpatienten zu erhalten. Das Spektrum der operativen Versorgungsstrategien ist dabei komplex und anspruchsvoll.

Sedation in children is increasingly emerging as a minimally invasive technique that may be associated with local anaesthesia or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures which do not necessarily require general anaesthesia. Standard monitoring requirements are not sufficient to ensure an effective control of pulmonary ventilation and deep sedation. Capnography in pediatric sedation assesses the effect of different drugs on the occurrence of respiratory failure and records early indicators of respiratory impairment. The Bispectral index (BIS) allows the reduction of dose requirements of anaesthetic drugs, the reduction in the time to extubation and eye opening, and the reduction in the time to discharge. In the field of pediatric sedation, capnography should be recommended to prevent respiratory complications, particularly in spontaneous ventilation. The use of the BIS index, however, needs further investigation due to a lack of evidence, especially in infants. In this paper, we will investigate the role of capnography and the BIS index in improving monitoring standards in pediatric sedation.

ZusammenfassungDie operative Therapie chronischer Beingeschwüre bietet heute ein breites Spektrum an Behandlungsmöglichkeiten, die überwiegend auf Standards als einheitlich anerkannte Behandlungs konzepte beruhen und sich gegenüber anderen Techniken durchgesetzt haben. Beim Ulcus cruris venosum steht die Ausschaltung des venösen Refluxes im Vordergrund und reduziert die Rezidivrate im Vergleich zur alleinigen konservativen Therapie erheblich. Hierzu stehen neben der klassischen Venenchirurgie moderne endovenöse Therapieoptionen wie Laser-Therapie, Radiofrequenz-Obliteration, Schaumsklerosierung oder Cyanoacrylatembolisation zur Verfügung.In der lokalen operativen Therapie chronischer Ulzerationen hat sich die Shave-Therapie mit simultaner Meshgraft-Plastik als Methode der ersten Wahl etabliert. Langzeitergebnisse mit Heilungsraten von bis zu 85 % sind mit keinem anderen Verfahren zu erreichen. Der kruralen Fasziektomie sind heute einige spezielle Indikationen vorbehalten: Transfasziale Nekrosen, Mehrfachrezidive nach Shave-Therapie und metaplastische Ossifikationen sind erfolgreich durch eine Fasziektomie zu behandeln. Neben der richtigen Wahl des Operationsverfahrens ist der langfristige Heilungserfolg geprägt von einer standardisierten postoperativen und poststationären Langzeitbetreuung.

Lokal begrenzte Stadien: T1b- und T2N0M0-Tumoren Für diese Patienten stellt die primäre komplette chirurgische Resektion inklusive Lymphadenektomie die Therapie der Wahl dar. Lokal fortgeschrittene Stadien: cT3 / cT4-Tumoren oder cN1- bis cN3-Tumoren Im Falle von Adenokarzinomen sollten diese entweder perioperativ mit Chemotherapie (Goldstandard FLOT) oder wie Plattenepithelkarzinome neoadjuvant mit einer Radiochemotherapie behandelt werden. Chirurgischerseits geht der Trend zunehmend zum Einsatz von Hybridverfahren (Laparoskopie und offene Thorakotomie bzw. offene Laparotomie und Thorakoskopie) oder zu komplett minimalinvasiven Verfahren. Palliative Chemotherapie Eine palliative Chemotherapie kann bei Patienten mit metastasiertem Adenokarzinom des Ösophagus das mediane Gesamtüberleben verbessern.

Zusammenfassung: Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die aktuelle wissenschaftliche Evidenz zur Diagnostik und Therapie neuropsychologischer Störungen nach Hirnschädigung, wie sie bis 2020 in Leitlinien publiziert wurde. Deren Umsetzung ist nur möglich, wenn die institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen dies erlauben. Unter Einbezug der klinischen Erfahrung wurden daher auf Basis der Leitlinien Standards für eine wissenschaftlich fundierte neuropsychologische Diagnostik und Therapie erarbeitet. Es entstanden Best-Practice-Empfehlungen zu Struktur- und Prozessqualität, insbesondere zu Intensität und Häufigkeit der Interventionen. Diese werden für die wichtigsten neuropsychologischen Funktionsbereiche vorgestellt. Sowohl die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neuropsychologie e. V. (GNP) als auch die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurologie e. V. (DGN) unterstützen diese Empfehlungen. Sie richten sich an Neuropsycholog_innen sowie an Einrichtungsleitende und Sozialversicherungsträger und definieren die Rahmenbedingungen für eine auf den individuellen Fall angepasste leitliniengerechte neuropsychologische Behandlung.

Oxidation of 1-aryltetrazole-5-thiols afforded bis(1-aryltetrazol-5-yl) disulfides. The compounds were tested for antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. kansasii, M. avium and M. fortuitum. In the case of M. tuberculosis, the logarithm of minimum inhibitory concentration showed a parabolic dependence on hydrophobic substituent constants. Although the compounds exhibited low to medium activity, the most active derivative, bis(4-chlorophenyltetrazol-5-yl) disulfide (III) was more effective against atypical strains than are the commercial tuberculostatics used as standards.

Developmental activities, geological reasons and mixing of industrial wastes are responsible for the deteriorating quality of surface and ground water in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand. The drinking water sources of 13 districts of Uttarakhand have been assessed for the presence of four toxic metal ions (arsenic, cadmium, chromium and lead). The health aspects of the four metal ions have also been reviewed according to the prescribed limits set up by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and World Health Organization (WHO). The present study reveals the absence of arsenic at almost all stations. Cadmium has been found only at Rudrapur, whereas chromium is found to be present in more than prescribed limits, in Kolti, Mussoorie and Dehradun. Significant presence of lead in the six districts of the state is indicative of the fact that proper management strategy of toxic metal ion remediation is required. Chromium and lead have exceeded the prescribed limit in 1.3 and 4.5% samples, respectively. However, as per BIS standard, cadmium is higher than the prescribed limit in 0.6% samples but according to the WHO standard, cadmium has exceeded in about 26% samples. Out of the total 156 samples analyzed, 6.4 and 33.3% samples have been found to possess the toxic metal ions in more than the prescribed limits as per BIS and WHO guidelines, respectively.

Wer über Standards schreibt, muss sich zunächst fragen: was ist ein Standard, wie kommt er zustande, wer legt ihn fest und wie verbindlich ist er? Ein Standard darf nur als Richtschnur oder als Bereich zwischen Leitplanken, niemals aber als Dogma verstanden werden, da sonst jeder operativ technische oder therapeutische Fortschritt verhindert wird. Anhand der onko-chirurgischen Richtlinien für das Kolorektalkarzinom wird dargelegt, wie Standards ins Wanken geraten können. Die nach Turnbull benannte "no-touch isolation technique" hält den Kriterien der Evidence-based Medicine nicht stand. Der Nutzen einer hohen Venenligatur und der Darmocclusion sind durch keine Studien belegt und die zentrale Ligatur der Arteria mesenterica inferior bei der Linksresektion nach neueren anatomischen Erkenntnissen falsch. Durch die aortennahe Absetzung kommt es zwangsläufig zur Verletzung des Plexus hypogastricus. Tierexperimentelle Untersuchungen sind in Bezug auf die Tumorzellaussaat beim Quetschen des Krebses kontrovers. Und eine prospektive kontrollierte Studie zeigt keinen Vorteil der Einhaltung der Turnbull-Kriterien. Unabhängige prognostische Faktoren sind der Chirurg, die Häufigkeit der Durchführung eines Eingriffes im jeweiligen Spital, das pT- und N-Stadium, die R-0-Resektion und nach den amerikanischen Pathologen der präoperative CEA-Titer. Im Weiteren werden die Infiltration von Venen und Lymphbahnen, Mikrometastasen in Lymphknoten und das Grading erwähnt. Die Resektion soll wenn immer möglich in anatomischen Schichten stattfinden, was vor allem für das Mesorektum zutrifft. Was in den distalen 8cm bis zum Beckenboden zu geschehen hat, ist bis heute nicht geklärt. Hingegen hat die laparoskopische Technik auch in der onkologischen Chirurgie definitiv Einzug gehalten. Die Diskussionen um Port-Metastasen und Tumorzelldissemination durch das Pneumoperitoneumgas sind verstummt. Bereits werden zum Teil bessere Langzeitergebnisse erwähnt. Die Eckpfeiler der Standardtechnik der onkologischen Kolorektalchirurgie sind Anfang 2003 bei uns neben der orthograden Darmspülung, der präoperativen niedermolekularen Heparinisierung und Antibiotikaprophylaxe, die R-0 en bloc-Resection offen oder laparoskopisch, der minimale Sicherheitsabstand im tiefen Rektum von 1cm, die Ligatur der Arteria mesenterica inferior 2 bis 3cm distal des Abganges aus der Aorta bei der Linksresektion, respektive der Arteria ileocolica am Abgang aus der Arteria mesenterica superior bei der Rechtsresektion, die zytotoxische Darmspülung bei der Linksresektion, und die Ausspülung der Abdominalhöhle sowie der Troicart-Kanäle mit Taurolin 0.5%. Eine neoadjuvante Radio-Chemotherapie wird beim Rektumkarzinom uT3 oder uN+, und eine adjuvante Chemotherapie beim nodal positiven Kolonkarzinom durchgeführt.

Pisangan is a tehsil block of Ajmer district (Rajasthan) and located 35.2 km from Ajmer district headquarter. The groundwater resources of Pisangan region (Ajmer) has greatly been affected by the overexploitation and geochemical changes. This research work was investigated the physico-chemical characteristics of groundwater of Pisangan and its surrounding villages. For the physico-chemical investigation, sixteen groundwater specimens were bottled from Pisangan and its surrounding villages during postmonsoon of 2021 and investigated for various groundwater quality parameters with special reference to fluoride (F– ) and nitrate (NO3 – ). It was perceived that the physico-chemical investigation of groundwater of Pisangan and its surrounding villages shown an uneven contamination of both fluoride (F– ) and nitrate (NO3 – ), and most of the groundwater specimens were not as per the drinking water standards of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The groundwater of Pisangan region is found unsuitable for drinking purposes due to presence of fluoride (F– ) and nitrate (NO3 – ) beyond the maximum agreeable limit of drinking water standards of BIS.

MICs for clinical Candida and Cryptococcusisolates were determined by a method incorporating the colorimetric indicator 2,3-bis(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl)-5-[(phenylamino)carbonyl]-2H-tetrazolium hydroxide (XTT), and the results were compared with MICs obtained by the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards approved standard method (M27-A). One hundred percent of all isolates demonstrated agreement within 2 dilutions between the MICs of amphotericin B, fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and flucytosine obtained by the two methods. These data suggest that an XTT-based method could provide a useful means for the determination of antifungal susceptibility of yeasts.

The reaction of bis[4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl]-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione (curcumin) and two novel ligands of bis[4- tetrabenzylglucose-3-methoxyphenyl]-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione (bis(tetrabenzylglucose)curcumin) (BTBGC) and bis[4-tetraacetylglucose- 3-methoxyphenyl]-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione (bis(tetraacetylglucose)curcumin) (BTAGC) with vanadium in methanol, in a 2:1 molar ratio, which yield the complexes of ML2 where M is [VO]2+, have been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, mass spectrometry, 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. These novel compounds were also examined for their antioxidant activity (using Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity (TEAC) antioxidant assay as a measure of their overall ability to scavenge free radicals compared to antioxidant standards such as Trolox); compounds with free hydroxyl groups were more active than those one whose locking such and also the metal complexes showed more activity than Trolox. The antioxidant capacity was decreased in BTBGC, BTAGC and their complexes compared to curcumin and its oxovanadium (IV) complex, corroborating the importance of curcumin’s free phenolic OH groups for scavenging oxidants potential. Also, the presence of the methoxy group increases the activity.

In this work, the thermal efficiency of a dual-operated solar cooking and drying system that may be utilized for domestic use was examined. An analysis of the system’s thermal performance was conducted at Sokoto Energy Research Centre (SERC) using the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Sampling cooking and drying tests were carried out, and the potential for extended cooking time for brine solution and animal fat was conducted. The results showed that the first figure of merit (F1) value agrees with the standard value of 0.12 and the second figure of merit (F2) value is in close correspondence with 0.25 (BIS Standard). The system was able to dehydrate 89 % of the moisture content of banana slices weighing 118 g which is of uniform thickness of 4 mm to achieve a stable weight of 12 g after 8 hours of drying. Animal fat showed more potential for extended cooking time than brine solution, as it took 5 hours to cool after heating for about 3 hours. Six pieces of eggs were boiled for 45 minutes in a temperature range of 29.7 oC and 88.2 oC. These findings indicate the potential of this dual-operated system for domestic applications.

Today, the quality of drinking water across the globe has become an environmental concern because of its degradation due to urbanization, industrialization, transportation etc. Solan, a rapidly developing district and an industrial hub, in the recent past has faced water borne diarrhoeal disease outbreaks. Therefore, the study was undertaken to assess the water quality of disease burden regions during monsoon and post monsoon seasons. pH of the water sources was in the range of 6.92- 7.43 and was well within normal limits. Electrical conductivity of water ranged from 151.40- 414.65 µS/cm. The water sources of high disease burden regions exhibited higher EC than the prescribed ICMR standards. DO (range 7.43- 8.56 mg/l) was normal in all disease burden regions. BOD (range 12.25- 23.25 mg/l) was higher than the BIS limits in all regions. The COD, TDS and turbidity (range 75.75- 157.50 mg/l, 2.24- 81.01 mg/l and 1.85- 5.05 NTU respectively) were within BIS limits. The concentrations (mg/l) of Ca, Pb, Hg, Zn and Cr was found in the ranges of 37.2- 122.9, 0.17- 0.51, 0.00- 0.03, 0.74- 8.99 and 0.04- 0.10, respectively. The high disease burden regions exhibited relatively higher contents of Ca, Hg and Cr as compared to lower one and the BIS limits. However, contents of Pb and Zn were above BIS limits in all the regions. The concentration (mg/l) of Mg, NO3-, Cl- and As was in the ranges of 14.25- 30.61, 5.10- 9.88, 16.42- 74.96 , 0.001- 0.014 respectively, which were below prescribed standards. Cd was detected (0.001 mg/l) in Solan region only, however it was within BIS limits. Water Quality Index (WQI) computed by using nine parameters varied from 78.58- 219.78 (very poor to unsafe drinking water class). Interestingly, water sources of all the high disease burden regions were unsafe for drinking (WQI: 102.02- 167.04). Water quality deteriorated more in the monsoons. The study therefore warrants remedial actions of water resource protection and conservation for provision of potable water.

Ground water samples were collected by hand pumps and bore well, based on the depth of 40 and 120 feet of water table respectively. Analytical techniques were adopted in the standard methods for examination of drinking water quality in ground water samples and results compared with the standards given by WHO and BIS guidelines for drinking water quality. The physico-chemical parameters like conductivity, TDS, Alkalinity, Ca, Mg-hardness and COD were recorded higher ranges in comparison to standard values. The present study showed that drinking water quality of bore well water found slightly better than water of hand pumps.

In the present study, both the underground and surface water samples around Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Power Plant Bathinda, Punjab, having total installed capacity of 440MW, were analyzed for the physico-chemical parameters viz. pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), Total Hardness (TH), Calcium (Ca2+), Magnesium (Mg2+), Total Alkalinity (TA), Carbonate (CO32-), Bicarbonate (HCO3-), Chloride (Cl-), Phosphate (PO43-), Nitrate (NO3-), Fluoride (F-) and heavy metals such as Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu), Lead(Pb), Nickel (Ni) and Zinc (Zn). The correlation coefficients (r) among various water quality parameters of studied underground water samples were calculated. The physical and chemical parameters of groundwater are compared with the drinking water quality standards recommended by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) (2012) and World Health Organization (WHO) (2017). On the basis of results obtained in the present study, concentration of Chloride (Cl-), Magnesium (Mg2+), Fluoride (F-) and Total dissolved solids (TDS) observed in ground water of Bathinda varied from 30 to 284 mg/l, 120 to 280 mg/l, 2.66-3.99 mg/l and 620-1439 mg/l, respectively which are exceeding the acceptable limits prescribed by WHO (2017) as well as BIS (2012). Also, the concentration of heavy metals viz. cadmium (0.366 to 0.437 mg/l), and lead (0.193 to 0.353 mg/l) have higher levels than prescribed by WHO and BIS for drinking purpose. Thus, groundwater is not suitable for drinking purposes with prior treatment.

In the present study, physico-chemical characteristics of potable water from the selected area in the central part of Mamit district, Mizoram were analysed to obtain the quality level for domestic uses. During the non-monsoon period, the residents in the selected area mainly depend on perennial spring (Tuikhur), hand pump, and rainwater harvesting without any treatment for drinking and other domestic purposes. A total of 17 potable water samples were collected from 6 different stations in the study area. The water samples were analysed for their physico-chemical characteristics, viz. pH, Turbidity, EC, Total Dissolve Solids, Total Hardness, Total Alkalinity, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, and sulphate. On comparing the results against water quality standards and standard values recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), it is found that most of the water samples are well within the permissible limit and suitable for drinking and domestic purposes. Analysis of heavy metals such as Iron, Zinc, Cadmium, Magnesium, Copper, Lead, Potassium, Chromium, Manganese, Calcium, Arsenic, and Sodium was also carried out by using Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (MPAES). The concentrations of heavy metals were also found within the acceptable limits as per WHO and BIS guidelines.

Background: Water is a scarce and highly valuable natural resource. Hospitals require relatively large quantity of water and quality of water is equally important. Hospitals must focus on water efficiency and conservation measures in order to ensure the sustainable use of water. This study was undertaken to understand the current water management practices in the selected teaching hospital and to develop strategies for water conservation.Methods: Descriptive study with observational method was used, to collect the data an observational checklist based on the guidelines of bureau of Indian standards (BIS) and world health organization (WHO) was developed. To observe and collect the data, uninformed visits was done to the Department of Maintenance on random days as per the convenience and the information was collected from standard operating procedures (SOPs) and records maintained in the department of maintenance and hospital infection control unit.Results: The study found that a well-planned water supply system is present in the selected hospital to meet the required quantity of water. The study reveals that the total consumption of water per day in the hospital is higher than the BIS standards. Preventive and corrective maintenance of all the tanks, pipelines, plumbing, and equipment is done regularly. A well-organized system of quality control of water is present in the hospital and the grey water, is drained to sewage water treatment plant from where the water is recycled and reused.Conclusions: Conservation of water enables hospitals to cut cost and to be proactive stewards of their community’s natural resources.

Beside the main reduction products - 2-chloro-1,1,2-difluoroethyl trichloromethyl ether (IV) and 2-chloro-1,1,2-difluoroethyl chloromethyl ether (V) - it was also possible to prove the formation of 1,2-dichloro-1,2-bis(2-chloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethoxy)ethane (VI), 1-chloro-1,2-bis(2-chloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethoxy)ethane (VII), and 1,2-dichloro-1,2-bis(2-chloro-1,1,2-trifluoroethoxy)ethene (VIII). The structure of products was confirmed by elemental analysis, MS, IR, 1H NMR and 19F NMR spectra and by GLC comparison of the elution times with those of standards. The relative reduction ability of the solvents used in the reduction rate order of C-Cl bonds in the compounds (CCl3 > CFCl2 > CHCl2 and CFClH) are given.

We have used activated carbon made with coconut shell which is ecofriendly and low in cost. The results of the analysis were compared with the water quality standards of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standard) for further application of the treated water in agricultural field. Also, this paper included the case study on textile dyeing industry in Bankura district, West Bengal, India and its impacts of pollution load in the environment.

ZusammenfassungDie politische Entwicklung etlicher bis 1989/91 kommunistischer Staaten in Richtung Rechtsstaatlichkeit verlief so positiv, dass die EU zwischen 2004 und 2013 elf von ihnen als Vollmitglieder aufnahm. Seither nimmt das politische System vor allem in Ungarn und Polen zunehmend autoritäre Züge an. Der Beitrag fragt zunächst nach möglichen langfristigen Prägungen der politischen Kultur dieser Länder durch ihre Zugehörigkeit zu Ostmittel- bzw. Südosteuropa und geht danach Ursachen für die nachlassende Attraktivität der demokratischen Wertevorstellungen der EU in einigen neuen Mitgliedsländern nach. Es zeigt sich, dass einige Nationalkonservative wie Orbán in Ungarn der EU den Verrat europäischer Grundwerte wie Christentum, Familie oder Nation vorwerfen und ihr eigenes Modell als die Zukunft Europas propagieren. Skizziert werden weiter der „Umbau“ der Verfassungssysteme in Ungarn und Polen, bei dem im politischen Institutionensystem gezielt horizontale Kontrollen abgebaut werden, sowie Argumentationsmuster populistischer Parteien. Deutlich wird dabei u. a., dass zu kommunistischer Zeit tabuisierte Konfliktlagen aus der Vergangenheit heute destabilisierend nachwirken. Abschließend wird gefragt, welche innergesellschaftlichen Kräfte wie etwa die Kirchen oder externen Akteure wie die EU zu einer Festigung der rechtsstaatlichen Einstellungen und Strukturen in den jeweiligen Gesellschaften beitragen können.

Ekstraksi fasa organik pada pH netral, sililasi dari fasa air yang diuapkan, di mana triethylamine/methanol-sililasi dan kation exchange-sililasi digunakan untuk ekstraksi senyawa - senyawa precursor dan hasil degradasi sebelum diinjeksikan ke GCMS. Dari hasil analisis diperoleh waktu retensi 8,9 dan 10,97 menit masing - masing untuk diethyl methylphosphonat dan bis(trimethylsilyl) methylphosphonate dalam sampel air sedangkan dalam sampel tanah 6,62 dan 12,06 menit untuk dimethyl methylphosphonat dan bis(trimethylsilyl) ethylphosphonate. Total Ion Chromatography (TIC) yang dihasilkan dari GCMS dievaluasi dengan menggunakan Library Data Base NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), dan AMDIS (Automated Mass Spectral Deconvolution and Identification System). Spektrum yang dihasilkan memberikan nilai base peak pada m/z = 97 untuk diethyl methylphosphonate , m/z = 225 untuk bis(trimethylsilyl) methylphosphonate, m/z = 94 untukdimethyl methylphosphonate dan m/z = 239 untuk bis(trimethylsilyl) ethylphosphonate sedangkan retention index (RI) yang dihitung digunakan untuk mengonfirmasi masing-masing senyawa precursorKata kunci : precursor, degradsi senyawa senjata kimia, base peak , waktu retensi, Total Ion KromatografiAnalysis, precursoridentification have been done and degradation compoundsof chemical weapon diethyl methylphosphonat , methyl phosphonic acid in water matrices, dimethyl methylphosphonat and ethyl phosphonic acidin soil samples. Water used for extracting those compounds was an example of simulation that contain tributilphosphat (TBP) 40 ug/mL and poliethylene glycol 56,24 ug/mL which added as a background and dry sandy soil samples. Identification was done by using Gas Chromatographic Mass Spectrometry – Electron Ionization (GCMS-EI) method. Neutral organic extraction, evaporated water - silylation, triethylamine/methanol-silylation and cation exchanged-silylation were performed to extract the precursor’s compounds from the samples, before being analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry .The result of the analysis by Gas Chromatographic Mass Spectrometry method showed that the retention time (in min) was 8,9 and 10,97 for diethyl methylphosphonat and bis(trimethylsilyl) methylphosphonate in the water sample , while the retention time in soil sample was 6,62 and 12,06 for dimethyl methylphosphonat and bis(trimethylsilyl) ethylphosphonate . The result of Total Ion Chromatography (TIC) from GCMS was evaluated using NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) database library and AMDIS (Automated Mass Spectral Deconvolution and Identification System). The spectrum’s result gave the value of base peak, which are m/z = 97for diethyl methylphosphonat, m/z= 225 for bis(trimethylsilyl) methylphosphonate , m/z = 94 for dimethyl methylphosphonat and m/z = 239 for bis(trimethylsilyl) ethylphosphonate. On the other hand, the retention indice (RI) calculation was used to get the confirmation of each compounds of precursors. Sonochemically synthesized zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were coated on paper for enhancing its properties in view of the preservation of documents. The paper used for accession register was used as substrate. Physical, chemical, optical, hydrophobic, and antifungal properties of the coated and uncoated papers were compared. Nanoparticles were synthesized with ultrasound from organic precursors and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), whereas coated and uncoated papers were examined following standard procedures as described by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It was observed that coating with nanoparticles imparted mechanical strength, water repellence, and antifungal properties to the paper without compromising its printability. Hence, coated paper is comparatively more suitable for preservation of written or printed documents than uncoated paper.

Groundwater sampling was carried out by grab sampling method from 36 sampling locations from the Chandrapur district in three seasons i.e. winter, summer, and post-monsoon. The samples were analysed for physicochemical parameters and heavy metals i.e. iron and manganese. Data obtained from the study area was interpreted by using multivariate statistical analysis i.e. principal component analysis, cluster analysis, correlation matrix and one way ANOVA to ascertain source apportionment of these two heavy metals. The results of the multivariate analysis revealed that iron and manganese both were associated with the lithogenic source. Groundwater irons concentration was higher when compared with manganese and at a number of sampling locations it was above the stipulated standard of BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) (0.3 mg/L).

Recent studies proved that excess provide in drinking water will produces different organ failures. So risk assessment study was carried in the study area. Total 10 samples collected from the hand pumps in rural village in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh state. The collected samples are analyzed for physical parameters and fluoride. The obtained results are compared with BIS standards. The average fluoride concentration observed 0.68 ppm and it is within the prescribed samples specified by BIS. Risk assessment carried out by using hazard quotient. After the investigation, confirmed that no risk observed for the collected samples. Der Einsatz molekularer Marker mittels Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS) ermöglicht einerseits eine bessere Differenzialdiagnostik; so ist z. B. das angioimmunoblastische Lymphom (AITL) durch das Vorliegen von TET2-, RHOA-, IDH2- und DNMT3A-Mutationen charakterisiert. Andererseits haben bestimmte Mutationen auch prognostische Bedeutung. Beim ALCL/ALK– ist der Nachweis eines DUSP22 / IRF4-Rearrangements mit einer besseren, der Nachweis von TP63 mit einer schlechteren Prognose assoziiert. Klinisches Bild und Prognose Neben sog. B-Symptomatik und nodaler Manifestation können auch extranodale Manifestationen wie Hautinfiltrate in bis zu 20 % beobachtet werden. Mit Referenz auf Ulrich Ammons Konzept des von Kodizes, Sprachexperten, Normautoritäten und Modellsprechern/-schreibern gebildeten sozialen Kräftefeldes, das eine Standardvarietät bestimmt, wird exemplarisch der Vorbildcharakter der reichsdeutschen Schriftnorm des Deutschen für Prager deutsche Schriftsteller mit überregionalen Publikationsambitionen gezeigt. Anhand dreier regional markierter sprachlicher Formen, die dem österreichischen (vergessen an + Akk.) oder dem Prager (paar ohne Artikel) Standard des Deutschen angehörten bzw. einen Grenzfall des österreichischen Standards darstellten (Subjunktion bis zum Ausdruck von Vorzeitigkeit), soll deutlich gemacht werden, dass sich Kafka zwar oft, jedoch nicht immer durch Hinweise befreundeter Sprachexperten oder editorische Eingriffe der reichsdeutschen Verlage, die seine Prosa herausgaben, zu künftiger Korrektur-Implementierung in seinem literarischen Deutsch veranlassen ließ.

Zusammenfassung Hintergrund Das multiple Myelom (MM) ist als maligne hämatologische Systemerkrankung nach Einteilung der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) dem Formenkreis der Plasmazellneoplasien zuzuordnen. Die weltweite Inzidenzrate des MM liegt etwa bei 6 – 7/100 000 Einwohnern/Jahr und macht somit etwa 1% aller Krebserkrankungen der Welt aus. In Deutschland sind ca. 6000 Neuerkrankungen pro Jahr zu verzeichnen. Im Zeitalter der sog. neuen Therapiesubstanzen wie Immunmodulatoren, Proteasomeninhibitoren und Antikörpern haben sich in der Behandlung des MM enorme Fortschritte ergeben. Auf dem Fachgebiet der Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie ist es von großer Bedeutung, die Leitsymptome des MM im klinischen Alltag sicher zu erkennen und durch eine zielgerichtete Basisdiagnostik weiter abzuklären. Die operative Versorgung von myelomassoziierten Skelettläsionen, wie etwa die Stabilisierung von pathologischen Frakturen, ist Aufgabe der orthopädischen Chirurgie. Methoden Auf Grundlage einer umfassenden Literaturrecherche, die selektiv in PubMed mit den Stichworten „multiple myeloma“ and „diagnostic“ or „therapy“ erfolgte, wurde die verfügbare Primär- und Sekundärliteratur zu aktuellen Standards in der Diagnostik und Therapie des MM beurteilt. Eingeschlossen wurden systematische Reviews, Metaanalysen, klinischen Studien und internationale Therapieempfehlungen bis Frühjahr 2016. Ergebnisse Es existieren heute sehr sensitive Nachweismethoden in der Diagnostik des MM, die neben der bildgebenden Skelettdiagnostik und histologischen Knochenmarkuntersuchung insbesondere die klinisch-chemische Serum- und Urindiagnostik, einschließlich eines 24-h-Sammelurins umfassen. Nach heutigem Kenntnisstand besteht das therapeutische Grundkonzept aus der Kombination einer Hochdosischemotherapie (HDT) und einer autologen Blutstammzelltransplantation (ASCT). Die einzelnen Therapiesäulen der meist multimodalen Behandlungsstrategie sind in enger fachübergreifender Zusammenarbeit patientengerecht abzuwägen. Hierbei ist für die Bewertung des Risikoprofils des Patienten das Lebensalter, die Komorbiditäten sowie der individuelle Krankheitsverlauf (Rezidivneigung oder therapierefraktäre Krankheitsprogression) zu berücksichtigen. Bei Patienten > 70. – 75. Lebensjahr und/oder schweren Komorbiditäten, für die eine HDT und ASCT i. d. R. ungeeignet ist, müssen Indikationen für konventionelle Therapieoptionen gestellt werden. Darüber hinaus sind supportive Behandlungsmaßnahmen wie die Gabe von Bisphosphonaten zur Knochenprotektion, stabilisierende Operationen von pathologischen Frakturen oder eine lokale Strahlenbehandlung von schmerzhaften Osteolysen in das gesamtheitliche Therapiekonzept des MM einzubinden. Schlussfolgerung In aktuellen Studienuntersuchungen konnte gezeigt werden, dass neue Wirkstoffgruppen wie Proteasomenhemmer, immunmodulatorische Substanzen und Antikörper bereits vielversprechend in der Behandlung des MM eingesetzt werden können, um die Prognose und Lebensqualität von Myelompatienten in Zukunft weiter zu verbessern. Hierbei werden die Therapiealgorithmen komplexer und kostenintensiver.

ZusammenfassungAppositionsthromben sind mit einer Prävalenz von 0,2–6% eine nicht seltene Komplikation nach endovenösen Katheterverfahren. Mögliche Risikofaktoren wurden bislang noch nicht ausreichend untersucht, außerdem fehlen Standards für eine angemessene Prophylaxe und ein einheitliches Therapieschema. Wir haben eine retrospektive Analyse von 2015–2017 bezüglich der Prävalenz sowie möglicher Risikofaktoren für das Auftreten eines Appositionsthrombus nach endovenösen Verfahren im Venenzentrum Freiburg durchgeführt. Die in der Literatur beschriebenen Risikofaktoren wie, Gefäßdurchmesser> 7,5mm, simultane Miniphlebektomien sowie ein erhöhter BMI konnten nicht verifiziert werden. Die Stadieneinteilung und die Bezeichnungen des Appositionsthrombus im internationalen Gebrauch wie EHIT (endovenöse hitzeinduzierte Thrombose) und PASTE (post ablation superficial thrombus extension) sind irreführend, da diese Komplikation auch bei nicht-thermischen Verfahren auftreten kann und es sich um eine Thrombusextension ins tiefe Venensystem handelt. Daher empfehlen wir die modifizierte Bezeichnung PATE (post ablation thrombus extension). Ein PATE 0 entspricht einem planen Verschluss und ist somit ein Therapieerfolg. PATE I beschreibt eine Thrombusextension mit Einengung des Lumens der tiefen Vene bis zu 25%, PATE II bis 50% und PATE III >50%. Eine therapeutische Antikoagulation empfehlen die Autoren ab PATE II mit einer Dauer bis zum Verschwinden des Appositionsthrombus.

Der deutsche Gesetzgeber verpflichtet ab dem 1.1.2023 auch öffentliche Unternehmen mit mind. 3.000 beschäftigten Personen (bzw. ab dem 1.1.2024 mit 1.000 Beschäftigten) im Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz (LkSG) zur strengeren Überwachung der Zulieferer bezüglich der Einhaltung von bestimmten Menschenrechten und Umweltschutzbelangen sowie zur Berichterstattung darüber. Damit werden bislang eher freiwillige Standards einer guten Corporate Governance im Unternehmen und darüber hinaus in der Lieferkette nun gesetzlich vorgeschrieben. Die Sanktionierung reicht von Bußgeldern über Transparenzanforderungen (Reputationsrisiko) bis hin zu der Regelung des zivilrechtlichen Klagerechts.

The provision of an inclusive environment was one of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 11 targets that was also listed in the declaration document of the 2016 NUA (New Urban Agenda) Habitat III. This was no exception for the public buildings and transport facilities provision that should meet and accommodate the needs of all users including persons with disabilities, the elderly, children, and women. Currently, Indonesia has committed to ratify and implement the CRPD, including the enactment of several regulations and the provision of access environment in public buildings. However, such implementation has not been maximized and complies with standards based on inclusion design. This paper is part of a Research-Based-Community Service to observe and evaluate bus stop and the pedestrian way in Surabaya. Yet, the discussion only highlights the result of pre-eliminary study of accessibility condition at bus stop based user paricpation. Methods of observation and environmental simulation were used to obtain research data. The results show various problems caused by lack of user participation and understanding and information on the design of accessible environment. This led to many application designs on the environment not in accordance with existing regulations and the needs of users especially those with special needs.
