Abstract:
The paper aims to clarify the biblical image-symbols in Frank Peretti’s mystical thrillers. The problem of the detailed analysis of the lingual representation of the biblical image-symbols and their pragmatic value is solved in the article by applying a complex of methods of linguistic poetics, cognitive linguistics, stylistics and methodological tools of discourse analysis. The paper considers the biblical images-symbols, used in American mystical thrillers written by the protestant author Frank Peretti, as biblical intertexts depicting not only biblical knowledge but also author’s intentions and beliefs in conveying the most profound ideas and principles of the literary texts. Executed in the written works by lexical means, biblical image-symbols become the heart of biblically-marked contexts, which are differentiated according to their addressee orientation into author`s and character`s biblically-marked contexts and their scope – into propositional, composite, and complex biblically-marked contexts. The lingual representation of the biblical image-symbols is differentiated according to their structure into one-component (anthroponyms, toponyms, artifact, animalistic, anthropomorphic) and multicomponent, (two-component, three-component and four-component). The type of semantic transposition in the meaning of the lingual representation and pragmatic value of the biblical image-symbols determined the distinguishing of metaphoric and metonymic linguistic classification of the biblical image-symbols. Metaphoric are classified according to their structure (onecomponent and multi-component), their stylistic characteristics (language and speech metaphoric linguistic representants of the biblical image-symbols), and their denotative meaning (anthropomorphic, naturalmorphic, zoomorphic, and phytomorphic). Metonymic are differentiated according to the kinds of the metonymic transference of meaning into four groups: metonymy of belonging, metonymy of place, metonymy of signs, and metonymy of phenomenon.

Abstract:
Abstract: This study aims to conduct an apologetic-theological review of the skepticism of the Lordship of Jesus according to the Gospels. This study uses a literature study method and a biblical analysis approach (specifically the Gospels) so that it can describe a general picture of the problems experienced in Christianity related to the divinity of Jesus and apologetic actions (defense of the faith) against those who attack and doubt the divinity of Jesus. The author begins by explaining the theoretical concepts related to the discussion topics so that the author and the reader have the same perception of the concept and the basis of the discussion. Then systematically describe the heresies in Christology, such as Arianism, Docetism, Gnosticism, Monarchianism, Ebionitism, Liberalism, and Jehovah's Witnesses with the factors of Jesus' Divinity Skepticism consisting of elements in Jesus' humanity and divinity. Thus, the researchers also provide solutions regarding apologetic-theological efforts against the skepticism of the divinity of Jesus according to the Gospels, which structurally will explain biblical implicit and explicit evidence, biblical acknowledgment of others/other parties, the biblical confession of behavior biblically, and Christology from the Biblical-Theological Review. All these reviews were conducted to prove that Jesus is a true man and true God. Abstract:
The relationship between biblical theology and systematic theology has been seen as separate disciplines nowadays. Biblical theology only looking for what the text of the Bible meant for the first reader meanwhile systematic theology only attempts to find the meaning of the Bible text for today's people. Biblical theology is an objective study meanwhile systematic theology is a study based on the religious belief of the theologians. This paper, through literature research, tries to give a proposal that biblical theology and systematic theology has a close relationship. Both come directly from the Bible that they have a parallel and dialogical relationship.

Abstract:
Abstract The Danish physician Thomas Bartholin, famous for his work as an anatomist, also nourished a career-long interest in accounts of medicine in the Bible that resulted in a series of books on the topic. His final such work, On Biblical Diseases (De morbis biblicis, 1672) attracted a wide readership and was regarded by contemporaries as a model of an early modern practice called medicina sacra, the analysis of biblical accounts of disease and healing. Taking Biblical Diseases as a focal point, I investigate methods and goals of early modern study of medicine in the Bible. Setting out early influences that shaped Bartholin’s development, I demonstrate connections between his work and its precursors. Examining Biblical Diseases itself, I indicate how Bartholin deployed contemporary medical, philological, theological, and historical knowledge to scrutinize biblical accounts. A brief glance at the reception of Biblical Diseases reveals that theologians and physicians alike utilized Bartholin’s work and how it influenced subsequent studies of medicine in the Bible.

The term biblical insert (Rom. inserat biblic) refers to a concept that can encompass all types of interpretations and representations of biblical content in literature. This concept is useful for analyzing texts, whether they are translations or original works, at various stages of literary development. This concept involves aspects specific to both literary theory and textual linguistics and describes what is known in literary theory and textual linguistics as quotation, motif, theme, symbol, allusion, image, character, paraphrase, biblical story. Biblical inserts can be classified into several categories, which we have named according to the criteria we developed and the action of each type of insert in the text.

Abstract:
After an overview of late medieval Latin biblical mnemonic tools with a special attention to those transmitted in Bohemia, the study moves to an analysis of the most singular biblical retelling from Bohemia, the Biblia picta Velislai (Velislav bible) from ca. 1340. While this “biblical comics” displays many inconsistencies both in its visual and textual aspects (e.g., there are only nine precepts of the Decalogue included), the author argues that such features were quite common during the Middle Ages and did not exclude its use for education and meditation. Like substantially later Manualník by Jan Amos Komenský (1623, printed 1658), the main aim of this and other biblical retellings was the moral edification of the readers.

Abstract:
Contextualization is a topic of utmost importance in the field of missiology. Over the past several years, the missiological world has debated the merits of one particular approach to contextualization known as the Insider Movement (IM). While much of the discussion has focused on issues of soteriology, hermeneutics, theology of religions, and evangelism, this article intends to assess the potential for IM strategies to produce biblically faithful churches. By leaning on the writings of IM advocates and the recent publication of Jan Prenger’s dissertation, Muslim Insider Christ Followers, one can compare IM strategies along with the testimony of insiders themselves with biblical teaching regarding the church. In order to avoid the accusation of historical, doctrinal, or extra-biblical imposition on the biblical teaching of the church, the common historical marks of the church have not been selected as the criteria for assessment. Instead, four biblical passages containing teaching about the church have been selected drive this exploration exegetically: (1) the church built upon the common recognition of Jesus as the awaited Messiah and Son of God; (2) the church as local, identifiable, gatherable, and responsible body of believers; (3) the church as a pillar and buttress of the truth; and (4) the church as an indiscriminate gathering of gospel-professing and communally covenanted believers. Upon considering the texts that drive these four elements of biblical churches, one confronts several barriers that often attend IM strategies. If such barriers are not removed by IM proponents, this article concludes that it is unlikely that they can produce healthy and biblically faithful churches.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article examines British and American Christian apologists’ reinterpretation of the biblical account of the Canaanite conquest in response to concerns about natural rights and ethical behavior that emerged from the English Enlightenment. Because of Enlightenment-era assumptions about universal rights, a new debate emerged in Britain and America in the eighteenth century about whether the divine order for the biblical Israelites to slaughter the Canaanites was morally right. The article argues that intellectually minded Christians’ appropriation of Enlightenment values to reframe their interpretation of the biblical narrative (often in response to skeptical attacks from writers classified as deists) demonstrates that in the English-speaking world, Enlightenment rationalism and Christian orthodoxy frequently reinforced each other and were not opposing forces. Though many orthodox Christians repudiated traditional Calvinist interpretations of the biblical Canaanite conquest, they defended the authority of the biblical narrative by drawing on Enlightenment-era assumptions about natural rights to provide justifications for what some skeptics considered morally objectionable divine orders in the Bible. By doing so, they set the framework for the continued synthesis of natural rights and rationality with a biblically centered Protestantism in the early nineteenth-century English-speaking world and especially in the United States.

Abstract:
Abstract The intention of this article is to interpret the biblical elements in the Prophetic Chronicle concerning their role in the process of identification of the cultural and religious Other in the Iberian Peninsula. To understand the Christian strategies of identification, the article contrasts the biblical elements in the text with their appearance in the Bible and compares the corresponding narrations. Since the contemporary foreign rulers over major parts of the former Visigothic kingdom were named almost entirely with biblically connoted ethnonyms, understanding these denominations is necessary to investigate both the perception and depiction of the Arab rulers of Hispania. Consequently, this article can point out the importance of the biblical elements in Christian-Iberian historical writing for research on the transcultural Iberian Peninsula and simultaneously offers new insight about the Prophetic Chronicle.

Abstract:
Abstract Popular Christian eschatology tends to nullify the earth from the biblical image of the new heaven and earth. On the contrary, the biblical eschatology shows that the new heaven and earth will be the dwelling place of God who will ultimately be with the redeemed people. Using the method of intertextual exegesis, this study constructs a biblical eschatology in terms of the theme of the dwelling place of God that frames the biblical portraits of Eden in the first creation and the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. Sinful humankind has been expelled from Eden, the first sanctuary, yet the New Jerusalem will be the holy dwelling place of God, where God’s people enjoying eternal life. The new heaven and new earth is the telos of God’s salvation plan where no sin defiles the cosmic temple anymore. The biblical eschatological hope promises God’s people about living as the royal priests on the earth that God will renew at the eschaton.

Abstract:
Three thousand witnesses were pricked in their hearts by the Spirit that first day while Peter spoke of events but seven weeks earlier. Biblical Pentecost is the story of the Church set ablaze by a flame descending from heaven, ignited at Pentecost, and which could not be extinguished. It has blazed throughout history, perhaps at times flickering alarmingly low, but always, fanned by persecution until it raged brightly as at the beginning. This is the story of the Spirit hovering, creating, working in and among His people as once before when He created the heavens and the earth.

Abstract:
Abstract Maps in Dutch printed Bibles made their debut when the Bible was first printed in large folio format in the Low Countries. The first complete Dutch Bible in the folio format that appeared on the market, by Jacob van Liesvelt in 1526, already included a map. This was a map of the Exodus, the Israelites’ journey through the desert from the land of Egypt to the promised land of Canaan. In the course of the second half of the sixteenth century, additional maps appeared in Bibles published in the Low Countries. In the sixteenth century, maps are found in both Catholic and Protestant Bibles.
