Abstract:
AbstractThe Grenvillian granulite-facies complex on Holsnøy island, Bergen Arcs, W. Norway, has been metamorphosed at eclogite-facies conditions during the Caledonian orogeny (ca. 425 Ma). The granulite-eclogite facies transition takes place along shear zones and fluid pathways. Mineral thermobarometry indicates PT conditions of 800–900°C and 8–10 kbar for the Proterozoic granulite facies metamorphism and 700–800°C and 16–19 kbar for the eclogite-forming event. Quartz in the granulite facies complex contains CO2 fluid inclusions with less than 2.5 mole percent N2; the molar volumes are compatible with the PT conditions of the Proterozoic granulite metamorphism. Quartz in pegmatitic quartz + omphacite and quartz + phengite/paragonite veins coeval with shear-zone eclogites contain N2 ± CO2 fluid inclusions. Combined laser Raman microanalysis and microthermometry show that the least disturbed inclusions have XCO2 = 0.1–0.3, and molar volumes less than 40 cm3/mole, which may agree with the PT conditions during Caledonian high-pressure metamorphism. Younger, low-density N2 and N2-H2O fluid inclusions are the results of decrepitation and redistribution of early inclusions during the retrograde PT evolution of the eclogites.

Beer, Suzanne. Thesis, Paris 8, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA080060/document.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis takes into account the critic of the expression of « virtual museums » made by some museologists who replace dit by the term « cybermuseum ». It comes back to the research of what virtual means in this topic that Bernard Deloche did, with new understandings. Coming from Bergsonian and Deleuzian approaches, it compares them with the meaning given to it in scientific and technological disciplines, especially for virtual reality, since cybermuseums are an expression of digital arts using this kind of technology. Cybermuseums tend to use this last meaning, which is a reduction to the field of possibility, affranchised of its philosophical creative characteristic. An analogy between museal field referent and pure memory or flux of microperception allows to look for a definition of a cybermuseum specific type of museology. A proper museal cybermuseum figure is found in information landscape metaphors from infoviz, which are rethought for digital museums typical uses. Immersion in together esthetical and cognitive environment is then reached. Esthetical conceptions of digital image solve the problem of a digital museum without « real things » : the anesthetic esthetic of Diodato, fragmentary intimism and genesis of Chirollet and Weissberg, image association of Aby Warburg. Cybermuseum therefore pursue a similor goal as Malraux’s « museum without walls », by taking into account digital medium specifities. The thesis contains a creation of cybermuseums prototypes which experiment theoretical ideas and makes them go forward

Roberntz, Tuija.

Full text
Abstract:
Time: Durations, Configurations, and Chance." (2017).
One of the key concepts of Henri Bergson’s philosophy is Duration. Bergson uses duration to describe how being in time is constituted as moving. In this thesis I am searching for what room there is for freedom within duration by studying how Bergson’s thoughts about human conditions, intuition, life and evolution evolve in Time and Free Will (1889), An Introduction to Metaphysics (1903) and Creative Evolution (1907). I do this in dialogue with Gilles Deleuze´s ”Intuition as a method” (Bergsonism, 1966) and “Lecture Course on Chapter Three of Bergson's "Creative Evolution"”(1960). Deleuze clarifies the importance of Bergson’s intuitive method to reach freedom in duration. To make a critical comparison I use the article "Disseminating Time: Durations, Configurations, and Chance." (2017) written by Daniela Vallega-Neu. This comparison opens up to a broader sense of how freedom within duration could be conceived. It also makes an argument for dancing as an alternative method in order to reach freedom in duration possible.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This chapter treats Milestone’s life and work from 1945 to 1949. The highly publicized failure of the expensive feature Arch of Triumph, produced by new Enterprise Studios, starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer in an adaptation of Remarque’s novel about refugees in Paris before the Nazi invasion, damaged Milestone’s artistic reputation. This coincided with Milestone being named by the HUAC as one of The Hollywood Nineteen and accused of pro-Communist sympathies. Although not called to testify, he supported those who were and attended HUAC hearings. A discussion of No Minor Vices and The Red Pony, another Steinbeck adaption starring Robert Mitchum and Copland’s score, concludes the chapter.

Abstract:
The incidence of describing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is approximately 23% in mechanically ventilated patients. The diagnosis of ARDS varies widely; studies report a variation in the population diagnosed with ARDS, from 10 to 86 cases per 100,000. Complications of mechanical ventilation are common and include ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), barotrauma from excessive airway pressures, and volutrauma from excessive tidal volumes which may both worsen ARDS. Pneumothorax occurs in some patients, necessitating the placement of chest drains. This chapter starts with describing ARDS and the Berlin Definition, and its incidence. It also covers aetiology and physiology, then goes on to its treatment and general management. This includes respiratory support, position changes, and other treatments. Situation-dependent prognoses are outlined. Specific nursing care is also described.

Abstract:
During Alban Berg’s lifetime, Vienna witnessed a change in the outlook for modern music from optimism to pessimism. In the later nineteenth century music flourished in Vienna, supported by a devoted middle-class audience, the talent of the city’s many Jewish musicians, the stimulus provided by other arts, and a general optimism about the future. A pronounced division in musical taste existed in Vienna between conservatives and progressives. The latter developed a controversial harmonic style associated with modernism that came to be termed “atonality.” The collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy and the turbulent aftermath to World War I signaled an end to tolerance for musical modernism.

Abstract:
Abstract The almost uncontrollable arc movement in a single-cathode-anode system limits the efficiency and process stability of this global used DC plasma spraying technique. A successful approach to stabilize the arc anode attachment and thus to increase process efficiency was the replacement of the convergent-cylindrical nozzle geometry by a convergent-divergent nozzle geometry with Laval contour. However, the advantages of this nozzle design were connected to an increased anode erosion caused by an excessive heat input from the anode attachment of the arc. Prerequisite for an optimization of the arc movement is its technical measurement and the dedicated correlation out of it with the plasma jet and the trajectory of injected powder particles. For this purpose Technical University of Berlin developed a new optical analysis method based on high-speed video recording to examine the arc movement, its position and intensity. The software based data together with the simultaneous measured voltage of the corresponding DC-arc clearly show for example the dependence of the arc movement from the position of the cathode tip in relation to center axis of the anode, impressively demonstrated for a new three-zone anode (convergent, conical and divergent). Thus a new tool is given to the developer of new anode geometries for increasing process efficiency and the lifetime of the single-cathode-anode system.
