We present exact fragmentation functions for the production of S-wave Bc and [Formula: see text] mesons splitting out of a [Formula: see text]-antiquark. We distinguish transverse and longitudinal polarizations of [Formula: see text] which is important in hadronic spin properties of such states. Input parameters for our functions are quark masses, meson decay constants, and the transverse momentum for the hard production mechanism. Evolution of such functions from fragmentation scale up to an appropriate factorization scale are given. We compare our results with similar ones in the literature.

Abstract:
Semileptonic B(Bs, Bc) decays are investigated systematically in the light-cone QCD sum rules. Special emphasis is put on the LCSR calculation on weak form factors with an adequate chiral current correlator, which turns out to be particularly effective to control the pollution by higher twist components of spectator mesons. The result for each channel depends on the distribution amplitude of the the producing meson. The leading twist distribution amplitudes of the related heavy mesons and charmonium are worked out by a model approach in the reasonable way. A practical scenario is suggested to understand the behavior of weak form factors in the whole kinematically accessible ranges. The decay widths and branching ratios are estimated for several B(Bc) decay modes of current interest.

Using Martin’s potential, independently of b- and c-quark flavours, we calculate the mass spectrum of [Formula: see text]-mesons and widths of electromagnetic transition between them. We obtain the estimates of the production cross-section at e+e− colliders, in hadronic and neutrino interactions. A real possibility of observing Bc-mesons at LEP (up to 500 Bc per 106 Z0) and at hadron colliders [Formula: see text] has been pointed out. The importance of observing the annihilation decay channels of Bc-mesons—Bc→τντ( Br (Bc→τντ)=1.5–2%) and Bc→ϕDs, DK, etc.—has been emphasized.

Abstract:
Radiative B decays provide valuable information on some poorly known CKM matrix elements |Vtb| and |Vts|. So in our letter we propose to study the flavor changing radiative B decays corresponding to the inclusive b→ sγ and b→dγ decays. In this letter we discuss the radiative flavor changing B→ K**γ, Bs→ϕ;γ and the rare Bc→D*γ decays taking into account both the Penguin as well as weak annihilation contribution and it is found that weak annihilation contribution is negligible in case of decay of mesons consisting of light spectator, i.e. for B→K**γ and Bs→ϕ;γ but in case of decay of Bc→D*γ, weak annihilation contribution is the most dominating factor. It is also interesting to note that all the B→ K**γ, Bs→ϕ;γ and Bc→ D*γ decays have almost the same decay width because they have the same type of inclusive decay process b→ s(d)γ.

Abstract:
The Bc+ meson is observed in lead-lead and proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √SNN = 5.02 TeV, via the Bc+ → (J/ψ → μ+μ−)μ+vμ decay and using 2017 and 2018 data from the CMS detector. The resulting Bc+ nuclear modification factor is measured in two bins of the trimuon transverse momentum and of the collision centrality. Less suppression is observed than for other quarkonia and most open heavy flavour mesons. This first observation of the Bc+ meson in heavy ion collisions will shed light on the interplay of suppression and enhancement mechanisms in the production of heavy-flavor mesons in the quark-gluon plasma.

Abstract:
The b and c quarks compete with each other in the decays of the Bc-meson. We show how one can obtain reliable signals of c→s decay in the Bc system in order to calculate the relative strengths of the two types of decays. This, we argue, can be done by considering the decay [Formula: see text], followed by semileptonic decays of the Bs. We suggest looking for like-sign dileptons together with a Ds at the BTeV or LHC-B experiments, and show that such signals can be made background-free by suitable event selection.

Abstract:

Abstract:
In this thesis, novel corrections to B → X˦ and B → Xl+l- decays, where X is a pseudoscalar or vector meson, are presented. These are the chromomagnetic matrix element, weak annihilation in a general four-quark operator basis and a long-distance charm loop contribution. The calculation of the chromomagnetic matrix element completes the calculation of matrix elements for all relevant effective weak operators in B → V decays, removing an infrared divergence which previous computations had treated in a very approximate way. It also encounters an interesting technical obstacle not previously seen in sum rule calculations, which is likely to be encountered regularly in future once higher order loop diagrams are calculated. The potential for this term to contribute to the CP asymmetry in D → V˦ in the presence of new physics is discussed. The improved computation of weak annihilation diagrams is applied to the analysis of isospin asymmetries in radiative and semi-leptonic B → (p;K(*)) decays, and the computation of long distance charm bubble terms is applied to produce an improved prediction for time-dependent CP asymmetries in various B → V decays.

Abstract:
In the recent years, intriguing hints of New Physics (NP) have been accumulated in semileptonic B-meson decays, mostly involving neutral-current transitions b --> sll. The LHCb collaboration, other collaborations at the LHC and the Belle experiment have reported deviations from the Standard Model expectations in several observables measuring the aforementioned transition. These are commonly referred to in the literature as B-anomalies. Not surprisingly, some of these measurements show deviations from the SM predictions by a few standard deviations. More interesting is the fact that several of these deviations from the SM appear to be "in the same direction", in such a way that when quantified by a global fit the discrepancy with the SM is over the 5sigma level. In order to assess the significance of these anomalies and to treat them consistently, we propose a model-independent analysis based on an Effective Hamiltonian encoding the dynamics of the underlying quark level transition. This has the advantage of providing a simple systematic framework where all possible processes, mediated by the same transition, can be described with the same set of parameters, allowing for global fits of large numbers of observables defined in several channels. This Thesis presents our most updated global analyses of b --> sll data. First, we describe the general framework used to compute the different types of observables, paying special attention to the treatment of the uncertainties involved. And then, we discuss both our analytical approach and the implications of the most significant results obtained from our fits.

Abstract:
Recent results at the LHCb and B-factory experiments have suggested that rare processes in B →Vγ and B → V ℓ¯ℓ decays, where V is a vector meson, show some deviation from Standard Model predictions. Although these anomalies are not yet at the level to constitute a formal discovery, they are certainly suggestive of potential New Physics effects in flavour-changing neutral currents. However, explanations within the Standard Model cannot yet be ruled out. This thesis contributes to the understanding of such anomalies in two ways. Firstly, the angular distribution of the B → KJ (→ Kπ)ℓ1¯ℓ2 decay is derived, for the full dimension-six effective weak Hamiltonian, using a generalisation of the helicity formalism to effective theories mediating b → sℓ1¯ℓ2 transitions. This approach sheds light on the origin of the underlying structure, and in the process extends the general angular distribution to decays in which the two leptons in the final state, ℓ1¯ℓ2, are not necessarily identical. An additional benefit of the derivation of the angular distribution presented in this manner is that it lends itself to a moments analysis of the decay. It is shown how the angular distribution changes in the presence of new operators, predicted to be vanishingly small in the Standard Model. Such operators could be sizeable in the presence of New Physics, but using a moments analysis enables the contribution of such operators to be assessed. Secondly, an analysis is presented of the three-particle vector and axial meson distribution amplitudes. It is shown that the distribution amplitudes of both particles are, up to QCD corrections, nearly identical. These results are applied to a new calculation of the long-distance charm loop contribution to radiative B → Vγ decays, and it is shown that the approximate symmetry can be exploited to provide an improved theoretical control in the search for New Physics contributions to right-handed currents in radiative decays.

Abstract:
This thesis documents the studies of several three-body B+ meson decays, each with a charged charmed meson in the final state. All analyses presented use a data sample recorded by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3:0 fb‾1 of pp collision data. The B+ →D‾ K+π + and B+ →D+ K+π.+ decay modes are observed for the first time. The branching fraction of the favoured B+ → D‾ K+π + decay mode is measured relative to the topologically similar B+ →D‾ π+ π+ decay and the B+ ‾ D‾ K+π+ final state is used as a normalisation channel for the suppressed B+ → D+ K+ π‾.decay branching fraction measurement. Searches are performed for the quasi-two-body decays B+→ D+ K* (892) 0 and B+ → D*2(2460) 0 K+ , using the sample of B+ → D+ K+π‾ candidate decays. No significant signals are observed for either decay mode and upper limits are set on their branching fractions. Excited charmed mesons decaying to D‾π+ are studied by performing fits to the Dalitz plots of B+ →D‾ K+π+ and B+ → D.‾π+π + candidates. A structure at m(D‾π.+) 2:78 GeV=c2 in the D‾ K+π+ data sample is determined to have spin-1 for the first time. Evidence from the B+ → D‾π+π + Dalitz plot suggests that the states at m(D‾π+ ) 2:76 GeV=c2 and 3:00 GeV=c2 , have spin-3 and spin-2, respectively. The mass and width parameters of these states are measured precisely, as are those of the well known D‾*2 (2460) 0 resonance. Fit fractions and product branching fractions are calculated for all contributions in the B+ ! D. K+ + and B+ → D‾π+ π+ amplitude models.
