Zusammenfassung. ALTER bekommt auf dem Weg unseres Landes in das 21. Jahrhundert verstärkte Wichtung. Die Frage nach Gesundheit, Vitalität und Wohlbefinden bei längerer Lebensspanne, nach Kompetenz und Lebensqualität im Alter führte in Wolfsburg zu einem Konzept moderner ganzheitlicher Gesundheitsförderung, das in einem Modellprojekt BAUHOF - Zentrum für aktive Gesundheitsförderung e. V. Wolfsburg seit Januar 1998 seine praktische Erprobung findet. Ausgehend von der lebenslangen Aufgabe, Gesundheit ganzheitlich zu “erzeugen”, wird dieser auf ganzheitliche Aktivität orientierende Aspekt insbesondere als Wahrnehmung von Eigenverantwortung in Vorbereitung auf das höhere Alter umrissen. In Anbetracht der bei älteren Menschen anliegenden unterschiedlichen Biographieverläufe, der differenten Dynamik von Veränderungen im Alternsgang, unverkennbar zunehmenden gesundheitlichen Risiken, wird für den Personenkreis mit Führungsverantwortung für ältere Menschen in Vereinen, Gemeinschaften, Institutionen und Projekten eine speziell gerontologisch orientierte Qualifikationserweiterung als notwendig angesehen. Aus Ansätzen und ersten Ergebnissen heraus wird geendet: Aktives Altern - Alter hat Zukunft.

Abstract:

<p><em>The Barong Bauh-Bauhan Tradition in Banjar Pinda Saba Village Blahbatuh District Gianyar Regency is very unique, the uniqueness lies in the process, usually the barong chasing the children, but in the barong Bauh-bauhan tradition of chasing the barong.</em><em> </em><em>The problems that will be discussed are (1) what is the procession of Barong Bauh-bauhan tradition, (2) what is the function of Barong Bauhuhan tradition in Banjar Pinda and (3) what is the value of Hindu religion education contained in Barong Bauh-bauhan tradition. This study aims to determine (1) to know the procession of Barong Bauh-Bauhan tradition. (2) to know the function of Barong Bauh-Bauhan tradition. (3) to know the value of education of Barong Bauh-Bauhan tradition.</em></p><p><em>The theory used to analyze the problem is the theory: the theory of Religion from Otto, Structural Functional theory of Tallcot Parsons and Value theory, from Louis Kattsof. Research subjects are Banjar Pinda community, the object is Barong Bauh-Bauhan tradition, participant observation data collection method, structured interview and literature. The collected data was analyzed by qualitative descriptive analysis method with reduction measures, data presentation and conclusion.</em></p><p><em>The results showed that the first Barong Bauh-bauhan procession was performed based on three stages: (1) preparation stage consisting of: (a) ngayah, (b) nangiang, (c) ngelinggihan (d) ngias and (e) (2) the stage of execution of this stage is the Barong Bauh-Bauhan tradition in Bale Banjar Pinda, (3) the closing stage, the stage where the barong barong used in the Barong Bauh-bauhan tradition is saved back to the gedong penyimpenan. The two functions of Barong Bauh-bauhan tradition are: (a) religious function (b) Cultural preservation function (c) Religious social function (d) aesthetic function and the three values of education are: devotion value, harmony value, obedience value.</em></p>

Abstract:

During the decades following the presentation of the original Baumol equation (1952) the role of holding cash was significantly changed. The original Baumol equation considered the two elements of (i) the value of transactions, positively affecting cash holding; and (ii) the interest rate, negatively affecting cash holding. A third element that was not considered is the economic behavioral aspect of the availability of money that may lead to spontaneous purchasing. This element reduces the inclination of customers towards holding cash.The present paper develops various kinds of loss functions due to spontaneous purchasing behavior and presents several different modified Baumol equations that are more reliable and realistic than the original Baumol equation.An important implication of our paper relates to the ineffectiveness of monetary policy. When the interest rate is very low, in the original Baumol model we approach the liquidity trap range in which monetary policy is ineffective. However, according to our new model the monetary policy still remains effective, even at low or zero interest rates. This is the case even in an environment in which the monetary policy seems to be totally inefficient, as we recently find in several industrial countries throughout the world. In some sense, this reminds us of the idea of an automatic stabilizer that supports fiscal policies. The new modified Baumol equation in the current paper reveals an automatic stabilizer which accelerates the effectiveness of monetary policy, and avoids the phenomenon of the liquidity trap, even in cases of zero interest rates.

Abstract:

Baumol developed an equation of demand for money for the transaction motive. It is affected positively by cost per withdrawal and negatively by the interest loss resulting from holding cash. The present paper suggests modifying the basic and simplified Baumol approach by adding another element to the transaction equation. Availability of cash encourages spontaneous purchases resulting in customer losses. Through cost minimization with respect to three elements instead of two as in the original Baumol equation, a new modified Baumol equation was created. It is examined by using an empirical data set and the results support the modified version of the Baumol equation. Customers respond positively to cash availability when they spend more on luxury goods. This is prominent especially among unmarried and most likely young customers. Due to high-income elasticity, spontaneous purchasing is higher among wealthier customers and full-time workers who maintain a steady and secure employment position. Since such customers have a weakness for spontaneously and sometimes even carelessly buying luxury items, from their point of view they create a good and efficient buffer by decreasing the available cash in hand and thereby reducing or possibly even preventing their wasteful behavior. The new version is robust and statistically more significant than the original equation presented in 1952.

Abstract:

<p>Baumol developed an equation for the transaction demand for money. It is affected positively by cost per withdrawal and transaction value, and negatively by the interest loss from holding cash.</p><p>Our objective is to modify the Baumol equation by including another factor. The demand for money is also affected by the customer concern that holding a more available liquid asset encourages more spontaneous purchases with resulting losses in their real value. We develop a new theoretical model by adding to the original Baumol cash demand equation another demand for a deposit which has positive yield and is less liquid. Holding this deposit restrains some of the spontaneous purchases. This modified Baumol equation leads to the following new results: Customers withdraw cash more often; maintain, on average, a smaller cash balance and larger amount of less liquid assets; and reduce their spontaneous and “nonrational” purchases.</p>

Abstract:

This study discusses the philosophical and spiritual values contained in the baumo tradition of the people of Batin XXIV district, Batanghari Regency. The baumo tradition that has been going on for generations in the modern era is starting to be displaced by modern agricultural culture. Not only its existence has begun to be eroded by modern culture, but also the values contained therein have begun to be forgotten by the local community. Even though the baumo traditional values contain local wisdom values, environmental conservation values, spiritual values, and wisdom values that are very relevant in today's modern life. The method that I use in this research is a qualitative research method, to explore and understand the social and cultural phenomena that exist in society. The data collection method that the writer uses is through direct observation into the field, interviews with Umo farmers, community leaders, and traditional leaders, and documentation by examining documents related to the object of research, including Jambi Malay cultural texts. The results of this study indicate that: First, epistemologically, the community's knowledge in carrying out the baumo tradition is based on Jambi's traditional law and Malay culture, namely the syara' jointed tradition and the syara' with the Kitabullah jointed. Apart from that, the baumo tradition is also based on empirical knowledge or people's experiences in terms of natural phenomena. Axiologically, the baumo tradition contains environmental and ethical values in living life. Meanwhile, the baumo tradition also contains spiritual values in the form of belief in the soul of rice, basokat after harvesting umo as a form of belief in religion, and ethics in treating rice as a form of belief in the existence of God. Penelitian ini membahas tentang nilai filosofis dan nilai spiritual yang terkandung dalam tradisi baumo masyarakat Kecamatan Batin XXIV Kabupaten Batanghari. Tradisi baumo yang telah berlangsung secara turun temurun itu di era modern saat ini mulai tergeser eksistensinya oleh budaya pertanian modern. Tidak hanya eksistensinya saja yang mulai tergerus budaya modern, tetapi juga nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya pun mulai dilupakan masyarakat setempat. Padahal pada nilai-nilai tradisi baumo tersebut terkandung nilai kearifan lokal, nilai konservasi lingkungan, nilai spiritual dan nilai kearifan yang sangat relevan dalam kehidupan modern saat ini. Metode yang penulis gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan tujuan untuk menggali dan memahami fenomena sosial dan budaya yang ada di masyarakat. Adapun metode pengumpulan data yang penulis gunakan adalah melalui observasi langsung ke lapangan, wawancara kepada para petani umo, tokoh masyarakat dan tokoh adat, serta dokumentasi dengan meneliti dokumen-dokumen yang berkaitan dengan objek penelitian, termasuk naskah-naskah budaya melayu Jambi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa: Pertama, secara epistemologis pengetahuan masyarakat dalam melakukan tradisi baumo didasarkan pada hukum adat dan budaya melayu Jambi, yaitu adat yang bersendi syara‟, dan syara‟ yang bersendi kitabullah. Selain itu, tradisi baumo juga didasarkan pada pengetahuan empiris atau pengalaman masyarakat dalam hal gejala-gejala alam. Secara aksiologis, dalam tradisi baumo terkandung nilai etika lingkungan dan etika dalam menjalani hidup. Sementara itu, tradisi baumo juga mengandung nilai-nilai spiritual berupa keyakinan pada adanya jiwa padi, basokat saat usai memanen umo sebagai wujud keyakinan pada agama, serta adab dalam memperlakukan padi sebagai bentuk keyakinan pada adanya Tuhan.

Abstract:

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to clarify the distinctions and complementary of William Baumol and Israel Kirzner’s classifications of and insights into entrepreneurship, and thus providing a more complete taxonomy of the substance of entrepreneurial activity. This paper also attempts to clarify distinctions between unproductive and destructive entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach – This paper illustrates a more complete taxonomy of the substance of entrepreneurial activity by examining entrepreneurial innovation in drug markets both legal and illegal, identifying cases of productive, unproductive, superfluous, erroneous, destructive, and protective entrepreneurship. Findings – This paper finds that the classifications of entrepreneurship (productive, superfluous, unproductive, erroneous, protective and destructive) put forth by Baumol, Kirzner, and the institutional entrepreneurship literature are complementary. While Baumol seeks to explain the disequilibrating tendencies of entrepreneurship, Kirzner seeks to explain the equilibrating tendencies of entrepreneurship within the institutional context. Originality/value – This paper utilizes case studies from legal and illegal drug markets to uniquely and better explain the six cases of entrepreneurship. This paper also contributes to the literature by clearly articulating the complementarity of Baumolian and Kirznerian entrepreneurship.

Abstract:

Major U.S. corporations have been importers for over 200 years. A significant impetus for “offshoring” has been reducing costs—usually labor costs. Often, other costs were overlooked. There has been a growing disenchantment with sourcing goods overseas, especially when there may be domestic alternatives as other costs begin to dominate. Baumol and Vinod’s Inventory Theoretic model was useful in adding transportation considerations. However, Baumol leaves out several important costs that unless considered in offshoring decisions can lead to suboptimal solutions. This paper extends that model, providing a prescriptive model that could be operationalized by firms to evaluate offshore sourcing decisions.

Penelitian analisis pengelolaan kas optimal dengan metode baumol dan miller-orr ini bertujuan (1) untuk mengetahui pengelolaan kas pada kebutuhan kas konstan. (2) untuk mengetahui pengelolaan kas pada kebutuhan kas tidak konstan pada koperasi karyawan UIKA Bogor. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan (1) kas optimal pada koperasi karyawan UIKA Bogor dengan metode Baumol dalam tiga tahun memiliki rata-rata sebesar Rp. 24.507.000 (2) kas optimal pada kas koperasi karyawan UIKA Bogor dengan metode Miller-Orr dalam tiga tahun memiliki rata-rata Batas Bawah sebesar Rp. 6.572.000 sedangkan untuk kas Batas Atas memiliki rata-rata sebesar Rp. 19.717.000.

Abstract:

The prevalence of claw affections was investigated in 602 cattle in two organized dairy farms during June 2010 to May 2011. Of these cattle 176 were from Bangladesh Agricultural University Dairy Farm (BAUDF) and 426 were from Central Cattle Breeding Station and Dairy Farm (CCBSDF). These animals were studied under 6 groups: calf, heifer, pregnant cow, lactating cow, dry cow and breeding bull. Out of 426 cattle in CCBSDF, 85 animals were affected with various claw affections, the prevalence being 19.95%. The prevalence in BAUDF was 22.72%. Claw affections causing lameness comprised sole ulcer (3.82%), heel erosion (2.49%), interdigital necrobacillosis (2.15%), sand crack (1.82%), hoof overgrowth (3.32%) and white line disease (2.32%). The prevalence of lameness in BAUDF was 13.06% and that in CCBSDF was 11.50%. Sole ulcer (3.82%) was predominantly associated with lameness in both farms while the lowest prevalence of lameness was encountered with interdigital dermatitis (1.39%). The lowest prevalence of lameness was observed in calves in both BAUDF (0.56%) and CCBSDF (0.93%). Pregnant cows were the most vulnerable to claw diseases and manifested lameness of varying degrees. Hind limbs were more frequently affected with claw affections than fore limbs. Animals of over 5 years were mostly affected with foot diseases. Breeding bulls showed 2.27% prevalence of lameness in BAUDF and 1.87% CCBSDF. Among various affections sole ulcer ranked the highest in both the farms. Sand crack and interdigital necrobacillosis registered the lowest prevalence in BAUDF and interdigital dermatitis was the lowest in CCBSDF. Sole ulcer ranked the highest among all claw affections. The Agrilus purpurifrons species-group comprising twelve species from the Oriental region is defined and revised. A key to species is provided and complemented with illustrations of habitus and genitalia. Three new species are described: Agrilus cameronius sp. nov. (Malaysia); A. puncak sp. nov. (Indonesia); and A. vendibilis sp. nov. (Indonesia). Monetary aggregates, M1, M2 and M3, are used for the real money balances based on the nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag bound testing procedure.FindingsThe results indicate that the positive and negative partial sum of exchange rate changes differ in magnitude and size, supporting the hypothesis of asymmetric effects of exchange rate changes on the demand for money in Nigeria.Originality/valueThis is the first paper to consider the new broad money aggregate (M3).

Este artículo presenta la relación entre las regulaciones empresariales y los volúmenes de emprendimiento en 63 países, utilizando datos de los estudios <em>World Bank</em> <em>Doing Business (WBDB)</em> y <em>Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM).</em> De los resultados del modelo, se concluye que las complejidades administrativas de crear una empresa no están relacionadas con los niveles de emprendimientos, coincidiendo con los hallazgos obtenidos por Baumol (1990) y Capelleras et al. (2008), que establecen que las regulaciones no afectan los volúmenes de emprendimientos, sino únicamente su distribución entre empresas formales e informales. Adicionalmente a lo anterior, el nuevo hallazgo de este artículo se centra en separar las variables explicativas de control desde el ámbito de la oferta y demanda del emprendimiento, lo que permitió confirmar lo expuesto por <em>Baumol (1990) </em>y<em> Capelleras et al (2008)</em>, entre otros autores.
