Full textThe current research used grounded theory methodology (GTM) to construct a conceptualization of personal knowledge within a knowledge management (KM) perspective. The need for the current research was based on the use of just two categories of knowledge, explicit and tacit, within KM literature to explain diverse characteristics of personal knowledge. The construct of tacit knowledge has often been explicated and debated in KM literature. The debate over tacit knowledge arose from the complex epistemological roots of tacit knowing and the construct of tacit knowledge popularized by organizational knowledge creation theory. The ongoing debate over tacit knowledge in KM literature has shed little light on personal knowledge within a KM perspective. The current research set aside the debate over tacit knowledge and pursued the construct of personal knowledge from the perspective of the knower using GTM. Thirty-seven interviews were conducted with fourteen participants. Interviews were audio recorded and coding was accomplished with the qualitative data analysis software MAXQDA.
A total of eight categories were identified. These were organized into two groups. The core category being overwhelmed represented the absence of personal knowledge. The categories questioning self, seeking help, and microthinking fit under being overwhelmed. Together these categories were inverse indicators because they all decreased as knowledge acquisition progressed. The core category being confident represented the presence of personal knowledge. The categories remembering, multitasking, and speed fit under being overwhelmed. Together these categories were direct indicators because they all increased as knowledge acquisition progressed.
Three significant conclusions were drawn from the current research. These conclusions led to the conceptualization of personal knowledge from a KM perspective. The first significant conclusion was the conceptualization of a process of knowing as Integrated Complexity: From Overwhelmed to Confident (ICOC). The second significant conclusion was personal knowing as first-person epistemology is a universally lived experience that includes commitments to internal and external requirements as well as a bias toward integration. The third significant conclusion was personal knowledge can be viewed as a complex adaptive system. Finally, the current research concluded that personal knowledge within a KM perspective is a complex adaptive system maintained through acts of first-person epistemology.

Full textThis dissertation explores the way AIDS and death are treated in American gay literature, with a focus on works by David Feinberg, Tony Kushner and Armistead Maupin. At a crossroads where a theme (AIDS) meets a type of literature (gay literature, which pre-existed the epidemic), this dissertation takes into account the many dimensions of the HIV/AIDS epidemic: aiming at anthropological knowledge through literature (Laplantine), moving "beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries" (Campbell & Kean), it shows that, when it comes to AIDS, history probably missed the boat, but literature did not. The media, the government officials, the health authorities and the general population never took the full measure of the HIV/AIDS crisis; gay authors, by contrast, fully confronted the epidemic, while HIV was taking hold in their bodies, and produced works that deserve to be read and examined, notably because, three decades after the first cases, the HIV/AIDS epidemic still is not under control. Based on an examination of works by the three authors, that constitute a sample both in generic terms (autobiography/autofiction, novel, drama) and in terms of reception, it shows that the gay literature of AIDS is, at most, a crack or a slit, not a breakaway from the literatures that came before. As a result of this anachronistic epidemic (it appeared at a time when Man seemed to be able to believe that epidemics were a thing of the past), the body wounded by AIDS takes center stage in their lives and in their works. The dying body becomes a topos, a place of exploration and the motif that structures the text

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are usually used to monitor the environment. As the environment changes, we will need to change the task running on WSNs. Therefore, a concise way to reprogram each sensor node is required. Since WSNs typically contain a large amount of sensor nodes, it is difficult to retrieve them back and download new programs one by one. What is required is a power and resource efficient way of reprogramming the senor nodes in place. This is further complicated by the popularity of heterogeneous WSNs – different types of sensors require different code. To solve the problems of code portability and energy-efficient reprogramming, this thesis introduces “Barista”, a light-weight Java virtual machine developed for wireless sensors. The goal is to create a low power consumption, low memory usage and low OS resources Java virtual machine. With Barista, users can use their familiar Java language to program their WSN applications. The resultant code will be highly portable and small enough for efficient dissemination to the sensors. We have implemented Barista on TinyOS. The result shows that Barista can run on a resource limited device (32KB ROM and 1KB RAM) and the lifetime of the node is shortened by 6% only.

Recently, Taiwan has been blowing a specialty coffee trend and more and more specialty coffee shops established. Accordingly baristas are the key factors and assets for speciality coffee shops to stand the fierce competition. How to keep baristas and make them willing to share knowledge becomes the real issues. As a result, the research aims to investigate the relationships among organizaion commitament、work passion and knowledge sharing. The research, by collectting on-line questionnaires on professional barista fb sites and utilizing data analysis techniques such as descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA analysis, Pearson product-moment correlations and Regression Analysis, showed that there are significant differences among different demographic baristas in the " organizaion commitament " and " work passion ". Also higher organizaion commitament can lead to higher degree of knowledge, which is carried out through work passion. Finally managerial implications and suggestions for further researches are presented.

The three important elements of CIS, namely, mind identity, visual identity, and behavioral identity, were used to develop a questionnaire for surveying the consumers of Barista Coffee. In this study, statistical analysis method is descriptive statistics, t test, one factor ANOVA,Scheffé Test, etc。 The results of the study found that : 1. The following is the chain of coffee shops the Seattle consumer corporate identity system acceptance:Consumers have a higher acceptance of environmental cleanliness and organizing charity events and Coffee Quality and service attitude. For corporate uniforms doll, moving line shop, acceptance is low。 2. Consumer acceptance of different backgrounds In terms of gender: More men than women than to accept Barista Coffee product profiles。 In terms of age: 15 to 25 years old have a higher acceptance for the concept of recognition, visual identity, corporate logo design, store furnishings, corporate colors, interior decoration, light, product descriptions, packaging, advertising catalogs, overall consistency and professional.。 In the academic qualifications: The senior high school or below have a higher acceptance for lighting , flow lines and welcome slogan。 In occupation: II Student consumers have a higher acceptance for the visual identity, corporate logo design, interior decoration, corporate colors, moving lines, service mode of order meals。 In terms of monthly income: Consumers with incomes in the range of NT$10–20,000 showed a higher level of acceptance for layout, color, lighting, flow lines, cleanliness, overall consistency and professionalism.
