Abstract:
In questo lavoro di tesi sono presi in esame i metodi di progettazione integrata con riferimento al disegno nautico delle piccole imbarcazioni a vela da competizione. La progettazione di una barca a vela, in tutte le sue parti, è un processo molto complesso in quanto richiede una profonda esperienza in questo campo ed inoltre necessita di diverse competenze dal punto di vista tecnico in aree anche molto distanti tra loro. Nella vita di tutti i giorni spesso risolviamo problemi relativamente semplici e quindi troviamo la soluzione anche in modo intuitivo, in ingegneria solitamente si affrontano problemi un po’ più complessi e seguire una procedura strutturata aiuta molto per trovare soluzioni valide al problema. Nel corso della tesi verrà presentato il principio alla base del moto di una barca a vela esponendo come si generano i sistemi di forze, areo/idrodinamici, e come si auto-equilibrano, quindi si procederà con il presentare i più diffusi ed efficaci metodi di progettazione nel settore nautico. A seguito di ciò verranno presentati gli strumenti digitali che ad oggi assistono i progettisti nautici come i programmi di modellazione geometrica, programmi di calcolo delle prestazioni di tipo analitico, programmi per la risoluzione di problemi fluidodinamici, programmi agli elementi finiti e programmi in grado di convertire i risultati digitali in prodotti reali. Il passo successivo consisterà nel presentare un nuovo approccio al problema che può essere utilizzato dai progettisti al fine di integrare gli strumenti introdotti e velocizzare la fase di progettazione di uno scafo, sia per quanto riguarda la replica di un’imbarcazione già esistente sia nel caso del disegno di un nuovo scafo. La tesi presenta anche cinque appendici nelle quali vi sono approfondimenti riguardo la definizione delle curve razionali di Bézier (Appendice A), la formulazione di curve di regressione per la valutazione delle curve di resistenza di una barca a vela (Appendice B), il metodo di Verifica e Validazione dei modelli numerici (Appendice C), l’utilizzo di VPP per il calcolo in forma chiusa delle forze agenti su una barca a vela in moto (Appendice D) ed infine le tavole relative al nuovo scafo trovato con il metodo proposto nella tesi (Appendice E).

Abstract:
Adult attitudes toward the Barbie dolls are ambivalent, with many saying they encourage a variety of undesirable tendencies. This paper looks at the dramatic play that actually occurs with the dolls, much of it involving the normal behavior that one would expect in children who are becoming enculturated through imitation of the adult behavior they see around them. But also common is play that most adults would think of as unconventional or deviant. To what extent are parents, particularly mothers, aware of this? How does this play relate to enculturation? Does it serve other functions? And what implications does it have for the age at which children should be given Barbies and the need for adult supervision or instruction of the children? This thesis describes the types of play engaged in and considers possible answers to the questions raised above.

Uppsatsen är en komparativ studie av två barnhem i Halmstad, Östra barnhemmet och Ljungbergska stiftelsen. Frågeställningarna lyder: Hur och varför tillkom Östra barn-hemmet och Ljungbergska stiftelsen?, Hur skilde sig verksamheterna åt mellan ett kom-munalt barnhem och en privat stiftelse i Halmstad?, Hur såg verksamheterna i Halmstad ut i förhållande till andra barnhem och det ideala barnhemmet? Syftet är att bidra med ny kunskap om barnhem genom att göra en lokal studie. Undersökningen är avgränsad till åren 1940 – 1950. De primärkällor som har använts är fattigvårdens protokoll och hand-lingar, barnavårdsnämndens förteckningar över barn på barnhemmen samt protokoll från stadsfullmäktiges årliga årsmöten. År 1940 konstaterades det att de vanligaste orsakerna till att barnen i Sverige hamnade på barnhem berodde på föräldrars sjukdom, fattigdom samt olämpliga hemförhållanden, vilket också gällde barnen i Halmstad.

Abstract:
This thesis investigated a method of barcode reconstruction to address the recovery of a blurred and convoluted one-dimensional barcode. There are a lot of types of barcodes used today, such as Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, etc. Our algorithm applies to the universal barcode, EAN 13. We extend the methodologies proposed by Iwen et al. (2013) in the journal article "A Symbol-Based Algorithm for Decoding barcodes." The algorithm proposed in the paper requires a signal measured by a laser scanner as an input. The observed signal is modeled as a true signal corrupted by a Gaussian convolution, additional noises, and an unknown multiplier. The known barcode dictionaries were incorporated into the forward map between the true barcode and the observed barcode. Unlike the one proposed by Iwen et al., we take dictionaries of different patterns into account, specifically for decoding book barcodes from images which are captured with smartphones. We also presented numerical experiments that examined the performance of the proposed algorithm and illustrated that the unique determination of barcode digits is possible even in the presence of noise.

Abstract:
Automation in warehouses has been improved in a very certain manner, combining sensors for perception of the environment and mapping of the warehouse. The most common characteristic, which makes the products and the pallet rack cells discriminative, are the barcodes placed on them. This means that the warehouse management system should successfully perceive all the necessary information of the detected barcodes, which also includes their position in the warehouse and build a barcode map of the environment. For this process a barcode reader is needed, with extended capabilities such as estimation of the 3-dimensional coordinates of the barcodes. The main idea of this research was the development of a system to be used in future work, placed on the roof of a forklift, which will be able to detect the barcodes and localize itself using an existing map of the warehouse and update new information in this map. However, the purpose of this project was the investigation of a suitable system for barcode mapping. The main challenge of this project was the development of a barcode reader, which fulfills all the referred capabilities and the comparison with a commercial reader in order to evaluate the performance of the system. In this project a barcode reader was developed using software libraries and a camera for industrial use. The performance of the system was compared with a commercial barcode reader. Moreover, an algorithm was implemented, for estimation of the position of each detected barcode, with reference to the position of the camera's lens.  According to the results of all the investigations the performance of the developed system was quiet satisfying and promising. The comparison of the two systems proved that the commercial barcode reader had a better performance than the implemented system. However, it lacked the ability to provide the required information for mapping also the flexibility for integration with other systems. Overall, the developed system proved to be suitable for integration with a warehouse management system for barcode mapping of the environment.

I denna uppsats undersöks levnadsstandarden på Anna Geijers barnhem i Uppsala mellan åren 1876 och 1895. Syftet är att genom en mikrohistorisk skildring och en ekonomisk analys belysa en liten del av Sveriges sociala historia. Det huvudsakliga källmaterialet är stiftelsen Anna Geijers barnhems arkiv som finns bevarat på Uppsala landsarkiv. Undersökningens frågeställning är denna: Hur god kan man säga att omsorgen var på Anna Geijers barnhem i förhållande till levnadsstandarden i samhället i övrigt mellan åren 1876 och 1895? Frågeställningen besvaras med en jämförelse av de utgifter som barnhemmet hade som användes för omsorg, den genomsnittliga bidragsnivån och medelinkomsten i Uppsala. Uppsatsen finner att barnen på barnhemmet hade det generellt bättre än bidragstagarna i staden men sämre än löntagarna.

D'un bout a l'autre de son oeuvre, barthes privilegie la pratique d'une grande tolerance critique a l'egard des productions litteraires et artistiques. C'est a partir de la que s'elabore sa conception pluridimentionnelle de l'esthetique qu'il applique, avec une egale souplesse, a l'ecriture, au theatre, a la critique litteraire et a la peinture. Pour lui, l'esthetique de toute oeuvre produite gagne a approcher celle-ci dans une coherence formelle qui l'eloigne aussi bien des recours reducteurs a des elements biographiques de l'auteur que des obediences rigides a des theories prefabriquees. Il s'agit donc, dans un tel contexte, de liberer l'oeuvre de toutes ces menaces afin qu'elle livre ses richesses intrinseques. La critique esthetique signale les richesses semantiques plurielles de l'oeuvre beaucoup plus qu'elle ne les "decouvre". Les richesses de l'oeuvre lui sont inherentes et c'est a travers un veritable voyage amoureux en elle qu'elle peut consentir a en reveler quelques elements. C'est pour cela, rappelle barthes, que la critique, tant litteraire qu'esthetique, consiste essentiellement a "couvrir l'oeuvre de son propre langage", a "tisser une couronne de langage" autour d'elle. Or, d'apres lui, un tel travail d'approche, s'il vient forcement apres les oeuvres produites, est deja contenu et suppose par elles. L'esthetique barthesienne suppose donc, a tout moment, une "ergographie", c'est-a-dire l'ecoute des differents travaux sur le sens qu'opere les oeuvres litteraires et artistiques chacune a sa maniere propre. Throughout his work, barthes favors the practice of a great critical tolerance toward literary and artistic outputs. It is at this point that his multi-dimensional conception of aesthetic, which he applies with an equal suppleness to writing, to reading, to the theater, to painting, and to literary criticism, is worked out. For him, the aesthetics of every produced work gains in approaching this one in a formal coherence wich removes it from remedies that reduce to biographical elements of the author as well as from rigid obediences to prefabricated theories. In such a context, the question is then to set the work free from all these threats so that it can give up its intrinsic wealth. Aesthetical criticism points out the plural semantic riches of the work more than it "lays them bare". The riches of the work are inherent in it, ant it is through a loving and genuine journey in it that it can agree to reveal some of its elements. It is for this reason, barthes reminds us, that literary as well as aesthetical criticism concerns itself mainly with "covering the work with its oun language" and "weaving a croun of language" around it. Now according to him, such an approach, if it comes necessarily after the produced works, is abready guessed and contained by them. Barthesian aesthetics then supposes, at every moment, an "ergography", i. E. The listening of different works on the meaning that each literary and artistic production performs in its oun way. Entre Roland Barthes et les historiens de l’école des Annales un lien de solidarité se crée au fil des années, suscitant d’importants enjeux intellectuels. Barthes essaie de renouveler l’histoire et la théorie littéraire en s’appuyant sur l’idée de l’histoire des mentalités et la théorie de la « longue durée » de Fernand Braudel. Parallèlement il souhaite situer sa sémiologie au croisement des sciences humaines : la sémiologie interroge le rapport des sciences au signe, elle s’enrichit en même temps de leurs apports et se déplace toujours en étant attentive à leurs nouvelles inquiétudes. La sémiologie et l’histoire sont fortement liées dans la pensée de Barthes, car le sens est un produit de l’histoire. En essayant de mettre en évidence la dimension historique de la pensée barthésienne nous souhaitons d’un côté questionner le développement possible de la recherche interdisciplinaire, et de l’autre, démontrer la puissance, encore aujourd’hui originale, d’une théorie historique de lecture, telle qu’on peut la déduire de l’œuvre de Barthes
Roland Barthes and the historians of the Annales School formed a bond of solidarity over the course of many years, raising major intellectual issues. Barthes tried to renew history and literary theory, relying in part on the idea of the history of mentalities and Fernand Braudel’s theory of the “longue durée”. At the same time, he wished to situate his semiology at the crossroads of human sciences: semiology interrogates the relation of the sciences to the sign, while simultaneously enriching their contributions and always working with an attentiveness to their new anxieties. Semiology and history are strongly linked in Barthes’ thought because meaning is a product of history. In attempting to highlight the historical dimension of Barthesian thought we wish to question the possible development of interdisciplinary research, while at the same time demonstrating the power, still strikingly original today, of a historical theory of reading, one that can be deduced from the work of Barthes

Abstract:
The thesis is a comparative analysis of the shared ideas and concerns in the works of Mikhail Bakhtin and Roland Barthes from the point of view of differences between French and Slavic literary structuralisms. Its background argument is that the structuralism developed in the later works of the Russian Formalists and by Prague Structuralists and Soviet Semioticians is more historically and socially oriented than its French version, defining the structure of a literary work as a system of all of its elements and effects (even those that take us outside of the text, like literary tradition and historical and political circumstances). In this sense, Bakhtin can be seen as a part of the Slavic structuralist tradition (and not opposed to it as is often claimed), and Barthes (seen throughout his career) is on the whole perhaps closer to the Slavic structuralism than he is to the French. The particular problems discussed are those of the relationship between literature and ideology, the notions of intertextuality, heteroglossia, dialogism and polyphony and the differences between them, and the role of the author. Barthes and Bakhtin shared a lifelong interest in the role of ideology in literature and the influence of authoritarian language or myth on culture in general and the literary text in particular. They looked for ways in which the deadening effect of the mythological (epic, monological) thought and word can be counteracted through literature, and different versions of what Kristeva termed 'intertextuality' played an important part in their treatment of the subject. They also both discussed the role of the author and their voice in the literary text, and the question of their power over the text, its characters (Bakhtin) and the reader (Barthes). The main thread of Barthes and Bakhtin's thought focuses on the problem of counteracting authoritarian language through literature, and the solutions they proposed can fruitfully be seen in the light of Slavic structuralism's notions of literary structure.

La difficulté d'écrire sur Roland Barthes (1915-1980) s'explique certainement par la pluralité essentielle qui caractérise l'auteur et par la spécificité d'une pensée et d'une écriture qui contestent la réduction de le pluralité à la généralité. Cette étude a pour but de retrouver une sorte d'unité à travers le parcours intellectuel de Roland Barthes tout en respectant, autant que possible, cette pluralité essentielle qui le caractérise. La notion de "moralité", qui apparaît dans "Roland Barthes par Roland Barthes" est le fil conducteur que nous avons choisi pour mener à bien ce travail. Barthes considère que ses dernières œuvres relèvent de la "moralité" mais il éprouve une certaine difficulté à définir cette notion. Qu'est-ce que Barthes entend par "moralité", notion qui doit être, selon lui, comprise comme étant le contraire de la "morale" ? Et comment cette notion est-elle conçue à travers les différentes étapes du développement de la pensée et de l'écriture de Barthes ? En abordant ces questions, le présent travail s'attache à mettre en évidence le caractère paradoxal de cette notion qui détermine l'écriture à la fois éthique et esthétique de Barthes
The essential plurality of Roland Barthes (1915-1980) and the specific nature of his thought and his writtings, characterized by relentless rejection of the reduction of plurality to the general, make it especially difficult to write about him and his work. This study aims at discerning some unity in his intellectual path, without artificially concealing such a fundamental plurality. Appearing for the first time in Roland Barthes notion of "morality" can be considered a central notion of the author's work, providing a vantage point to better understand his intellectual development. Barthes considered his late works as belonging to morality but he struggled to define this notion clearly. What exactly does Barthes mean by "morality" - a notion that, according to him, is to be understood as the opposite of "morals" ? And how is the notion conceptualized throughout the various phase of the evolution of Barthes thought and writings ? In tackling this issue, this work attempts to emphasize the paradoxical aspect of this notion - a notion of paramount importance in determining both the ethical and aesthetic character of Barthes' writings

L'oeuvre de Roland Barthes entretien, avec la psychanalyse, un rapport à la fois étroit et ambivalent, qui a souvent été négligé, du moins sous-estimé. L'importance de la psychanalyse est d'abord intertextuelle, perceptible dans les citations, le vocabulaire, les références théoriques et les figures rhétoriques. Plus profond encore sont les analogies structurales entre la littérature et la psychanalyse dégagées par Barthes concernant la pathologie, le fragment, la dichotomie et le récit. C'est surtout en tressant la psychanalyse aux autres systèmes de pensée (marxisme, linguistique, phénoménologie. . . ) qu'il se l'approprie, au point que ses écrits autobiographiques en viennent à ressembler à l'autoanalyse
The works of Roland Barthes maintain an intimate and ambivalent relation with the psychoanalysis ; however, this aspects is often underestimated, if not neglected, par his critics. The importance of psychoanalysis is above all intertectual. It can be perceived in the citations, the vocabulary, the theoretical references and the figures of speech. More profoundly, there exists structural analogies between literature et psychoanalysis in Barthes's discourse, especially concerning pathology, fragment, dichotomy and narration. In Blending the psychoanalysis with other disciplines, Barthes succeeds in forging his own thinking. Finally, his autobiographical writings also contain psychoanalytical elements which make them close to Freud's self-analysis

A la mort de barthes, les commentateurs ont salue son activite de critique et de theoricien de la litterature ; plus recemment, ils ont consacre ses qualites d'ecrivain et de moraliste. Mais ils ont oublie de reconnaitre une chose capitale : son imagination utopique. Lorsque barthes exerce une activite critique sur certaines notions, c'est toujours a travers l'image interieure d'une utopie : d'une utopie sociale ou d'une utopie affective. Ce travail a pour ambition de capter dans ses textes ecrits entre 1942 et 1980 des eclairs de desir, des possibles exaltants, des elements annonciateurs d'inoui : il se presente comme le releve scrupuleux de toutes les images de bonheur inventees en quarante ans d'ecriture par l'auteur des mythologies au detour d'un article, d'une dissertation ou pendantun entretien. En totalisant ces images, on obtient un etat ideal de la societe, une intelligence parfaite des rapports humains, une trame ininterrompue de fetes, bref une vita nova. L'utopie est le tabou de la revolution et de la politique que l'ecrivain a pour charge de transgresser. Vita nova repond ainsi a la question pratique du << comment vivre ensemble >>. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo a leitura de uma parte dos textos de viagem produzidos por Roland Barthes, procurando encontrar neles traços de um imaginário de escritura. Inserido no campo da teoria literária, Barthes vai explorar as práticas de significação textual formulando um projeto teórico que ressemantiza o conceito de texto. Em outras palavras, pensa o texto como um campo metodológica onde circulam e se articulam os discursos, buscando desvelar a escritura-leitura. Na tentativa de incorporar essa prática de resignificação textual, a pesquisa propõe o entrecruzamento de texto e viagens para investigar a formação e a fundação de discursividades. Nesse sentido, a leitura dos relatos de Barthes sobre os territórios míticos da escritura ou de espaços geográficos que se deslocam, vai se inscrever a partir da articulação de textos concebidos como viagens e de viagens narradas enquanto textos. Atinge-se, dessa forma, a circularidade essencial entre viagens e texto, a qual, por sua vez, postula a intersecção das formações imaginárias de um sujeito duplo: o escritor-leitor.

Roland Barthes nunca colocou os pés em território brasileiro. O que não quer dizer que ele nunca tenha estado no Brasil: seus escritos, carregados com suas ideias, suas noções, seus paradoxos e suas idas e vindas, trataram de assegurar sua presença na história da crítica literária brasileira do século XX. As relações entre Barthes e os intelectuais constituem o tema deste trabalho, que tem por objetivo encontrar, descrever e problematizar as imagens do escritor francês, produtos de sua recepção no Brasil, de 1953, data da publicação do primeiro livro de Barthes, Le Degré zéro de lécriture, até o momento atual. Efeitos de um processo de refração, tais imagens não se limitam a reproduzir a dinâmica do pensamento barthesiano, mas também evidenciam as particularidades do contexto e dos intelectuais que delas se apropriaram. Pois a periodização estudada compreende um momento de transição na história da crítica brasileira que a recepção à obra do escritor torna evidente: a consolidação das instituições universitárias, nos anos 50 e 60, abriu um novo espaço para os debates literários, antes limitados aos jornais. A crítica literária e as discussões teóricas, até esse momento, dominadas por críticos de formação autodidata, passaram a, paulatinamente, constituir uma preocupação dos professores universitários. A proposta deste trabalho é examinar como o pensamento de Barthes foi integrado nesse contexto, tendo como fio condutor e corpus principal o jornal O Estado de S. Paulo, complementado pela revista universitária Língua e Literatura. Tendo sido primeiro comentado pela crítica jornalística para, em seguida, tornar-se objeto de uma crítica universitária, o pensamento barthesiano transparece sob a forma de imagens parciais que, ao final do percurso investigatório, compõem um mosaico heterogêneo e complexo. Incompreendido, mestre estruturalista da nouvelle critique, semiólogo e guru nas universidades, hedonista, subversivo: em cada imagem pulsa uma faceta de Barthes, num movimento constante, engendrando novas leituras e a escrita de novos textos, e assim circulando, viva.
Roland Barthes never placed his feet on Brazilian territory. Which is not to say that he has never been in Brazil: his writings, full of his ideas, his concepts, his paradoxes and his comings and goings, treated to ensure his presence in the history of Brazilian literary criticism of the twentieth century. The relations between Barthes and intellectuals are the subject of this work, which aims to find, describe and discuss the images of the French writer, products of his reception in Brazil, from 1953, the publication date of Barthes first book, Le Degré zéro de l\'écriture, until the present time. Effects of a refraction process, such images do not merely reproduce the dynamics of Barthesian thought, but also highlight the particularities of the context and intellectuals who have appropriated of them. As the periodization studied comprises a transition moment in the history of Brazilian criticism that the reception to the work of the writer becomes evident: the consolidation of the university institutions in the 50s and 60s opened a new space for literary debates, once limited to newspapers. Literary criticism and theoretical discussions, so far dominated by self-taught critical, began, gradually, a concern of academics. The proposition of this thesis is to examine how Barthes thoughts were integrated in this context, having as a guiding thread, and the main corpus, the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo, complemented by the university journal Língua e Literatura. Having first been discussed by the journalistic critics and later becoming a subject of academic criticism, Barthesian thought emerges in the form of partial images that, at the end of the investigative path, composes a heterogeneous and complex mosaic. Misunderstood, struturalist master of nouvelle critique, semiotician and guru in universities, hedonistic, subversive: in each image pulsates a facet of Barthes in a steady movement, engendering new readings and the writing of new texts, and thus circulating, alive.

Cette these a pour but d'etudier la pensee ethique de roland barthes. Elle vise a mettre en evidence la recherche par barthos de la morale de la pratique signifiante ou de l'activite symbolique. Elle se propose d'abord (dans la premiere partie) de decrire la dialectique entre la critique ideologique et la semiologie chez barthes, en analysant la naissance d'un projet semiocritique (chapitre 1), son developpement a l'epoque structuraliste (chapitre 2) et sa mutation provoquee par l'introduction de la notion de "texte" (chapitre 3). La franchise du signe, la suspension de la signification et l'exemption du sens seront etudiees comme pratiques ethiquement positives. Ensuite (dans la deuxieme partie), nous abordons le probleme de la discursivite chez barthes et etudions sa recherche d'une nouvelle discursivite affirmative. L'arrogance et l'indifference seront alors decrites comme valeurs negatives inherentes aux meta-discours scientifique et critique existents. La notion de "plaisir" sera analysee du point de vue semantique (chapitre 4). Puis, une analyse de deux discours imaginaires (autobiographique et amoureux) tenus par barthes sera proposee (chapitre 5). The aim of this thesis is to study the ethical thought of roland barthes. It tries to demonstrate the research of barthes for a moral of semiotic practice or of symbolic activities. Its first part is a description of the dialectic relation between ideological criticism and semiotics in barthes' works. We will study the birth of an semiocritical project (chapter 1). Its development in the structuralist phase (chapter 2) and its transmutation caused by introduction of the notion of "text" (chapter 3). Frankness of sign, suspension of signification and exemption of meaning will be postulated as positive values. The second part treats of the problem of "discursivity" in barthes and studies his research for a new affirmative discursivity. "arrogance" and "indifference" will be described as negative values inherent in existing scientific and critical metadiscourses. The notion of "pleasure" will be analysed from a semantical point of view (chapter 4). Then, an analysis of the two discourses of imaginary composed by barthes will be proposed (chapter 5). The last chapter (chapter 6) will be a study of the research of barthes on photography

We tried to show that the purpose of the barthian semiotics is to suggest the inanity of sense, and indirectly the inanity of the History which is ignored less by methodological strictness than by hostility against historical speech. Thinking that men produce sense from nothing, for instance from a semantic opposition, he put down quite clearly the arbitrary and mechanical aspect (therefore miserable) of the process of sense. We assume that "political anxiety" is at the origin of this search of vacuity, of this quest of emptiness, that it could dictate as well the idea of mobilizing the action of the Scripture against the theoretical languages than the theoretical perspective, the refusal of the aesthetics of transparency, suspected of having collaborated with the destruction of the "order of Antithesis"

The present research is dedicated to a reflection on the possible relations between photography and haikai in the work of Roland Barthes, including those works of the author that can illustrate them: The Empire of Signs (1970), The Neutral (1977-1978), The Preparation of Romance (1978-1979) and Camera Lucida (1980). More specifically, we will focus on the concept of "punctum" in the light of the insistent notes on the instantaneousness of haiku that are disseminated in the barthesian text, proposing a nexus between literature and image. We hypothesize that "punctum" is the last manifestation of "zero degree" or "neutral", understood as a problematic stronghold of meaning that escapes the paradigm of meaning. The main corpus of the research comprises the barthesian texts in which we astonish said intersection and meetings. The theoretical references involve a state of the art of barthesian studies (Calvet, Marty, Batchen and among us Motta, Perrone-Moisés), the most relevant works on photography (Dubois, Soulages, Rouillé, Frade, Sontag) and studies on haiku (Blyth, Paz, Herrigel, Keene, and among us Franchetti, Leminski, Verçosa, Campos)
A presente pesquisa é dedicada a uma reflexão sobre as relações possíveis entre fotografia e haikai na obra de Roland Barthes, abarcando aquelas obras do autor suscetíveis de ilustrá-las a saber: O Império dos Signos (1970), O Neutro (1977- 1978), A Preparação do Romance (1978-1979) e A Câmara Clara (1980). Mais especificamente, enfocaremos o conceito de “punctum” à luz das insistentes notas sobre a instantaneidade do haikai que se disseminam no texto barthesiano, propondo um nexo entre a literatura e a imagem. Formulamos a hipótese de que o “punctum” é a última manifestação do “grau zero” ou do “neutro”, entendidos como reduto problemático do sentido que escapa ao paradigma do significado. O corpus principal da pesquisa compreende os textos barthesianos em que surpreendemos a referida intersecção e reuniões. We propose in this work a software architecture for robotic boats intended to act in diverse aquatic environments, fully autonomously, performing telemetry to a base station and getting this mission to be accomplished. This proposal aims to apply within the project N-Boat Lab NatalNet DCA, which aims to empower a sailboat navigating autonomously. The constituent components of this architecture are the memory modules, strategy, communication, sensing, actuation, energy, security and surveillance, making these systems the boat and base station. To validate the simulator was developed in C language and implemented using the graphics API OpenGL resources, whose main results were obtained in the implementation of memory, performance and strategy modules, more specifically data sharing, control of sails and rudder and planning short routes based on an algorithm for navigation, respectively. The experimental results, shown in this study indicate the feasibility of the actual use of the software architecture developed and their application in the area of autonomous mobile robotics
Propomos neste trabalho uma arquitetura de software para barcos rob?ticos destinados a atuarem em ambientes aqu?ticos diversos, de forma totalmente aut?noma, realizando telemetria com uma esta??o-base e desta recebendo miss?es a serem realizadas. Tal proposta visa aplicar-se dentro do projeto N-Boat do laborat?rio Natalnet-DCA, que tem como objetivo principal capacitar um veleiro a navegar autonomamente. Os componentes constituintes dessa arquitetura s?o os m?dulos de mem?ria, estrat?gia, comunica??o, sensoriamento, atua??o, energia, seguran?a e supervis?o, formando estes os sistemas do barco e da esta??o-base. Para sua valida??o foi desenvolvido um simulador implementado na linguagem C e utilizando recursos da API gr?fica OpenGL, cujos principais resultados foram obtidos na implementa??o dos m?dulos de mem?ria, de atua??o e de estrat?gia, mais especificamente no compartilhamento de dados, no controle das velas e do leme e no planejamento de rotas curtas baseado em um algoritmo de navega??o, respectivamente. Abstract:
The influential final proposition of Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus defines silence negatively, as the other of language. Contrary to this externalising trend of thought is the theme of silence as a quality of interiority and intimacy, as with John Cage’s anecdote of an anechoic chamber, wherein silence became the ceaselessly sonorous plenitude of the body, as opposed to an absence. What unites these two contrastive accounts, however, is a logic of exposure: with the former, language is exposed to its outside; with the latter, exposure takes place as auditory auto-affection. I ask how this underlying logic of exposure—silence as exposure and exposure as silence—might be recuperated and strategized against prevailing discourses of linguistic inescapability. The first chapter negotiates two opposing modalities of silence in 20th century philosophy and literary theory, that is, ‘apophasis’ (or negative theology) and ‘reticence’ (which I understand through Heidegger’s use of the term Verschwiegenheit). Apophasis corresponds to a silence of ineffable transcendence, whereas reticence, keeping-silence, implies a silence of immanence. From this dichotomy, I develop the figure of a paradoxical ‘silent voice’, the trembling interminability of the possibility of speech anterior to speech, which conforms to Jean-Luc Nancy’s liminal figure of ‘transimmanence’. Chapter 2 develops the term ‘silent voice’ through a reading of Samuel Beckett’s prose piece Company, whose narrator is exposed—rather than interpellated—to silence, itself, as a phatic address. In chapter 3, I develop the notion of phatic silence through a series of comparative readings of Roland Barthes and Jean-Luc Nancy, through which I analyse the dynamics of silence, community (or ‘being-with’) and singularity, with particular methodological emphasis on Barthes’s unpicking of the binary of silere (pre-lingual, inviolate silence) and tacere (verbal silence, silence exposed to language). In chapter 4 I shift to a discussion of poetry, and analyse how Wallace Stevens stages the exposure of poetic language to three interrelated determinations of silence: anterior silence, external silence, and animal silence.
