Onboard train positioning (navigation) plays a vital and safety critical role in advanced Automatic Train Control (ATC) and Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems. Such onboard systems are also essential for moving block signalling and control systems for railways. The application of multi-sensor fusion algorithms to the vehicle navigation field has made it possible to create inexpensive and accurate positioning systems, which will satisfy the railways' requirements. The state estimation methods involved in Kalman filtering have proved to be some of the most effective techniques in multi-sensor data fusion. A multi-sensor navigation system is introduced in this paper to address the shortcomings of the existing train positioning systems. The proposed system utilizes the Global Positioning System (GPS), Doppler radar, gyroscopes, tachometers, digital maps and balises. In order to provide fault detection and isolation capabilities, a hierarchical structure is proposed for the multi-sensor integration system in which different combinations of navigation systems would function. Several data integration nodes, including DR/GPS, DR/Balise, and DR/GPS/Balise, are studied in more detail and their performances are evaluated.

In this paper, we investigate the Landau and Baliaev damping of the collective modes in a two-component Bose gas using the mean-field approximation. We show that due to the two body atom–atom interaction, oscillations of each component is coupled to the thermal excitations of the other component which gives rise to creation or destruction of the elementary excitations that can take place in the two separate components. In addition, we find that the damping is also enhanced due to inter-component coupling.

This research is entitled “Geguritan Ni Sumala: Philological Studies”. Assessment of Geguritan Ni Sumala uses philological theory. This study aims to obtain the text of Geguritan Ni Sumala which approaaches the original. The data supply phase uses the observation method and simak method helped by note taking technique. Next, in data analysis phase using comparative descriptive method, transliteration uses standard transliteration method, following by a comparation of three texts through text criticism, text edition using the legger method, the translation uses combination literal translation and idiomatic translation. In the stage of presenting the result of data analysis using formal and informal method by deductive-inductive tecnique also assisted by exposure, tables, and themes. The text edition is complemented by criticism apparatus which is presented separately and translation is also presented separately with the source text. The result of this study are, from the three of GNS manuscripts that have been compared through text criticism there are some copy/write errors from each text such as substitution, adition, omission, lakuna, interpolation, ditography, transposition, and corrupt. By correcting the copy error presented Geguritan Ni Sumala text which assumed to be correct based on the evidence three of contained manuscripts. Geguritan Ni Sumala uses Balinese Kawi language. Next in text edition for literacy guidelines used are Acri and Griffiths opinions (2014: 371-372) and combined with Damais opinions (1995: 125). aside from that, the spelling used in text edition are spelling guidelines for Balinese script pairs with Latin letters and Balinese letters also guidelines Pasang Aksara Bali. Indonesian translations are also included in the Geguritan Ni Sumala text.

Chocó-Darien is an important biogeographic realm, as it is a terrestrial biodiversity hotspot and the southern limit of the Caribbean reefs. However, to date there are no compiled data on the reef fish assemblage of this region. We provide an updated checklist of marine fishes from the Chocó-Darien reef system (Colombia), with comments on their geographic distribution and conservation status. Peer-reviewed studies, unpublished data and in situ visual censuses were surveyed to compose this checklist. A total of 212 reef fish species across 57 families were compiled, eight of which had no previously published records, one of which (Trachinotus falcatus) is recorded for the first time. The most speciose families were Labridae (n = 21), Gobiidae (n = 18) and Serranidae (n = 17). Fourteen threatened species were recorded, including one critically endangered (Epinephelus striatus) and two endangered (Balistes vetula and Scarus coelestinus). This study contributes to fill the knowledge gaps on the reef fish diversity of the Caribbean southern limit and raises concern on the spread of the lionfish invasion into the Chocó-Darién reef system.

Abstract- The times have created an identity crisis that has led to the fading of cultural diversity. This has caused many buildings in Indonesia today that have acted on behalf of or made the building have a local identity to reflect culture. The local identity used should not only be in the physical part of the building, but also have concepts and meanings applied. One of the local identity can be reflected through the expression of the building. A good building expression is a building that can pay attention to the local identity of the local culture in the building.
This study aims to determine the local identity contained in the object of study, related to the expressions observed by observers. The object of study needs to be examined and studied further about the concept of Tri Angga used, and the representation of Bali that is reflected through the building, so that it can be known whether the object of study displays local Balinese identity or not. This evaluation discusses the conclusions of local identity in the case study building expressions and what should be done so that the local identity of Bali is more felt in the object of research.
The theory used to support this research is the evaluation of architecture, local identity, architectural expression, identity and expression of Balinese architecture. The expression theory uses the Building Quality Theory by Kevin Lynch in 1960. The aspects of expression theory are chosen according to the explanations relevant to the object of study, form simplicity, visual scope, directional differentiation, and dominance. The method used in this study uses qualitative methods with descriptive, analytic, and interpretative approaches.
The results of the study were to evaluate the local identity contained in the Katamama Hotel building expressions, which were assessed based on the theory of building quality. Local identity in the research object is in the aspect of dominance / dominance. The identity used is only found in the Bali brick material used in the scope of the building. Katamama Hotel does not use Balinese concepts, which rights are a characteristic or identity of Balinese architecture. The quality of buildings such as visual scope in the shape of the building is the main expression to be displayed. The brick material with gaps obtained from the brick structure makes a visual impression that can be felt by visitors, and is in accordance with the concept designed by the architect of the building by paying attention to lighting and shadows. While the quality of directional differentiation and form simplicity in buildings, both the shape of the building and the arrangement of the space become an aspect that is less attention to the Katamama Hotel.
The benefit of this research is to provide an in-depth understanding of local identity and the importance of maintaining local wisdom, educating the public about the expression and its relation to local architectural identity with examples of real objects, so that physical and non-physical elements can be seen, enriching knowledge, especially culture local archipelago, as well as adding theoretical study studies on local expression and identity, as well as their relation to national identity.

This research aimed to isolate and identify potential yeast of bioethanol-producer from arak industri in Karangasem Bali. The isolated sample was taken from 3 different points from 2 villages in Karangasem Bali. Isolation was carried out using PYG media then purified to obtain pure isolates. The pure isolates were screened with several stages, namely a qualitative test of gas production, growth selection with the addition of antibiotics, and quantitative tests with an alcohol oxidation reaction. Determind by UV visible spectroscopy, 9 potential isolates was obtained to continue to the identification stage. At this stage fermentation was carried out in PYG media for 10 days using a starter from a potential isolate with a media glucose level of 20% of the media volume. Fementation results were then distilled. Of the obtained 9 potential isolates the best isolate. IS 258 isolates are determind the best isolates with 86.85 mL ethanol. The total ethanol produced by IS 258 is higher than with 60.73 mL alcohol control experiment (Alcotec). Isolate IS 258 was isolated from bayur skin samples taken from the sap fermentation process. IS 258 then identified macroscopically and microscopically. Based on the results of macroscopic and microscopic identification, IS 258 has many similarities with previous studies on yeast isolation, isolate IS 258 is presumably the yeast genus Saccharomyces sp. Further research is needed to optimize ethanol production of IS 258 and identify species from isolates IS 258.

The avant-garde Japanese company Ban'yu Inryoku was formed following the death in 1983 of the inspirational writer and director Shuji Terayama, who has subsequently become a cult figure. This article explores his influence – both limiting and liberating – on the production by one of the founders of the company, his disciple J. A. Seazer, of an experimental musical version of King Lear, as Ria O. Douglas Kerr places the production – seen in England during the Japan Festival of 1991 – within the context of evolving attitudes towards the avant-garde theatrical movement in Japan during the late 'sixties, notably as modified by the national trauma of the gas attack in Tokyo of 1995. Adapting Shakespeare was a break with the Terayama tradition of presenting only works collectively created by the ensemble – and it also made their work more accessible to the intercultural festival circuit. Explicated by the printed synopsis which forms a ‘map’ of the play for its audiences, the production also used Brechtian signboards to signal the titles of scenes, while being predicated also on the ‘representation of the inner and the outer experience’ which was Artaud's perception of Balinese performance. Lear himself was in this sense the entranced dancer, depending on the guidance of his supporters. Douglas Kerr, who explores here the tensions between the cultural elements employed and between the ideological pulls for conservatism and for social change, is currently an advanced PhD student at Stanford University in American Literature. His interests include Performance Poetics and Buddhism in contemporary American poetry.

The paper describes the development and the validation of an algorithm for the geo-localization of trains, specifically designed for diagnostic applications of rolling stock and infrastructure. The algorithm exploits two signals commonly available on commercial trains, namely odometry and GPS, combined to overcome the drawbacks they both show when adopted individually. The algorithm’s flow consists of a map matching procedure for the projection of GPS acquisitions on digital maps of the railway line, followed by a robust fit to correlate the map-matched data to the odometry data. The system is specifically conceived to be adopted in rolling-stock based diagnostic system, to correlate the diagnostic indices to the actual position where they are gathered along the line. It is specifically designed to operate on double-track railways, even if its adoption in multi-track scenario typical of commuter rail would be possible by means of further integration with balise signals or other train control data. Results from track tests on a high-speed train with instrumented pantographs and bogies show that the developed algorithm allows to obtain a good repeatability of diagnostic indicators collected during repeated runs of the train along the same track. This result set the basis for the automation of data analysis in a wayside server, and for the computerization of the comparison of data belonging to homogeneous track sections, so as to perform a trend analysis.

Le phoque veau-marin (Phoca vitulina) et le phoque gris (Halichoerus grypus), deux espèces sympatriques de mammifères marins, sont de plus en plus considérés comme des compétiteurs potentiels, et ce plus particulièrement au cœur de leur distribution européenne. L’objectif de cette thèse est d’étudier les stratégies de chasse et l’écologie trophique de ces espèces en limite de leur aire de distribution (baie de Somme, Manche Est, France), et d’explorer l’hypothèse de compétition interspécifique. Des outils de bio-télémétrie ont été déployés sur 49 individus afin d’obtenir des données sur leurs déplacements et plongées en mer. L’analyse des localisations en surface et du comportement en plongée, complétée plus récemment par la détection de tentatives de captures de proies (accélérométrie), a permis de mieux comprendre les stratégies de chasse de ces espèces, et d’améliorer la détection des zones de chasse. Les niches trophiques des deux espèces de phoques ont ensuite été caractérisées par analyse du régime alimentaire, des isotopes stables (vibrisses des mêmes individus capturés), et des zones de chasse. Un important chevauchement interspécifique a été identifié entre ces niches, résultant de la consommation de poissons plats benthiques en zone côtière, ce qui apporte ici le contexte informatif d’une potentielle compétition. Cette étude montre aussi le rôle clé des stratégies individuelles de chasse sur les conclusions écologiques à l’échelle de l’espèce/sous-population,dont la potentielle compétition qui serait induite par certains phoques gris. La poursuite des suivis est nécessaire pour détecter tout potentiel changement écologique dont l’origine serait trophiqueHarbour seal (Phoca vitulina) and grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) are two sympatric marine mammal species that are increasingly considered as potential competitors, especially at their European core distributions. The objective of this PhD was to study the foraging strategies and trophic ecology of these species at the limit of their range (Baie de Somme, Eastern English Channel, France), and to investigate the hypothesis of potential interspecific competition. Biotelemetry devices were fitted on 49 individuals to document their movements and dives at sea.The analysis of surface locations and diving behaviour, completed recently by the detection of Prey Capture Attempts (accelerometry), allowed for a better understanding of the two seal species’ foraging strategies and improved the detection of their foraging areas. Trophic niches of the two seal species were then characterised with the analysis of diet, stable isotopes (in the whiskers of the same captured individuals), and foraging areas. A high interspecific trophic overlap was identified between these niches, resulting from the consumption of benthic flatfish in coastal areas, and we suggest that it provides here the basis for potential competition between both species. This study also showed the key role of individual foraging strategies on the ecological conclusions at the scale of the species/sub-population, including that the potential competition may be due to some individual grey seal strategies. Continuing these studies is essential to detect any potential ecological changes that could be trophically-induced

En este trabajo presentamos la evaluación de un equipo de balizas de radio Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) como sistema complementario de posicionamiento de vehículos en entornos con pobre cobertura GPS. La evaluación del sistema UWB usa como referencia verdadera un sistema RTK-GPS con precisión centimétrica. Las pruebas realizadas en las pistas del CAR muestran que el sistema UWB permite realizar mediciones de rango hasta 90 metros de distancia con precisión submétrica en la mayoría de las medidas y con la aparición de pocos outliers. Colocando 6 nodos UWB en el entorno y dos nodos en el techo de un coche, y utilizando un filtro de Kalman extendido, es posible localizar en 2D y en orientación con buena precisión (0.8 m y 10 grados, respectivamente en el 90% de los casos). El estudio marca las bases para una posible utilización de UWB en otros entornos (subterráneos o parkings) y en labores de cooperación entre vehículos (platooning).
