Abstract:
This article highlights about using Qur‟anic verses in the society‟s ritual called Rebo Wekasan in Sukoreno. Rebo Wekasan is the annual ritual that celebrated by Sukreno‟s people. This ritual is celebrated on the last Wednesday of Shafar. This ritual aims refusing the unlucky things that believed sent down on that day. This ritual usings some Qur‟anic verses, when praying tola‟ bala‟ and making the holy water. This article focuses on practicing and meaning of using Qur‟anic verses in Rebo Wekasan. This article used descriptive qualitative methods with etnograph‟s approach using Karl Manheim‟s sociology of science theory. This articles shows that there are some surahs and verses of Qur‟an that used in Rebo Wekasan when praying tala‟ bala‟, i.e.: Surah al-Kausar, al-Ikhlas}, al-Falaq, and al-Nas. When making the holy water the verses that used are Yasin verse 58, al-S{affat verse 130 – 131, al-Zumar verse 73, al-Ra‟d verse 24, and al-Qadr verse 5. Based on Mannheim‟s theory,There are three meanings of using the Qur‟anic verses in this ritual, those are; objective as a tradition, expressive as refusing unlucky things (bala‟), and documenter as a culture

Abstract:
Understanding how multiple insecticide resistance mechanisms occur in malaria vectors is essential for efficient vector control. This study aimed at assessing the evolution of metabolic mechanisms and Kdr L995F/S resistance alleles in Anopheles gambiae s.l. from North Cameroon, following long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) distribution in 2011. Female An. gambiae s.l. emerging from larvae collected in Ouro-Housso/Kanadi, Be-Centre, and Bala in 2011 and 2015, were tested for susceptibility to deltamethrin + piperonyl butoxide (PBO) or SSS-tributyl-phosphoro-thrithioate (DEF) synergists, using the World Health Organization’s standard protocol. The Kdr L995F/S alleles were genotyped using Hot Ligation Oligonucleotide Assay. Tested mosquitoes identified using PCR-RFLP were composed of An. arabiensis (68.5%), An. coluzzii (25.5%) and An. gambiae (6%) species. From 2011 to 2015, metabolic resistance increased in Ouro-Housso/Kanadi (up to 89.5% mortality to deltametnrin+synergists in 2015 versus <65% in 2011; p < 0.02), while it decreased in Be-Centre and Bala (>95% mortality in 2011 versus 42–94% in 2015; p < 0.001). Conversely, the Kdr L995F allelic frequencies slightly decreased in Ouro-Housso/Kanadi (from 50% to 46%, p > 0.9), while significantly increasing in Be-Centre and Bala (from 0–13% to 18–36%, p < 0.02). These data revealed two evolutionary trends of deltamethrin resistance mechanisms; non-pyrethroid vector control tools should supplement LLINs in North Cameroon.

Abstract:
Basti is said to be the best therapy for pacifying aggravated Vata Dosha. It is considered as Ardha Chikitsa due to the capacity to cure diseases of either Abhyantara, Bahya or Madhyama Roga Marga when used judiciously. It is broadly classified into Niruha, Anuvasana and Uttara Basti Anuvasana Basti believed to nourish the body and increase Bala (strength) and Varna (complexion). Matra Basti is a type of Anuvasana Basti in which the Sneha is administered in the lowest dosage. Gridhrasi is one among Vataja Nanatmaja Vikara characterised by Stabdhata (stiffness), Vedana (pain), Toda (pricking sensation) in the lumbar region radiating to the lower limb. Gridhrasi is of two types viz Vataja and Vata Kaphaja Gridhrasi. Vataja Gridhrasi is characterized by severe pain whereas, Vata Kaphaja Gridhrasi has symptoms viz Tandra (drowsiness), Gaurava (heaviness of body) and Aruchi (ano- rexia). Bala Taila contains Madhura Rasa, Snigdha, Vatahara, Balya, Brumhana properties. Sahachara Taila contains Madhura Tikta Rasa, Ushna Veerya and Vata-Kaphahara properties. This study was undertaken to com- pare the efficacy of Matra Basti with Bala Taila and Sahachara Taila in the management of Gridhrasi to ascer- tain a better modality. Statistical analysis showed that both groups showed good improvement in various parame- ters of Gridhrasi. When compared between the groups it revealed that there was not statistically difference except in S Lanss Pain Score (p<0.05). Hence it can be concluded that both Bala Taila Matra Basti and Sahachara TailaMatra Basti may be practiced in treating patients with Gridhrasi (Sciatica) to reduce both signs and symptoms successfully. Abstract:
This study involves the characterization of Khokhar-Bala coal of Punjab (Pakistan) coal field to establish its particle distribution data for size, density and floatability through sizing, float-sink tests and release analysis. Khokhar Bala coal contains high amounts of unwanted impurities like ash (35.22%) and sulphur (8.38%). Over 93% of its mass consists of +1.00 mm particles, when run-of-mine coal is crushed to 38 mm. Washability curves, degrees of washing and the S-values show that the coarser fractions (-38+25 mm; -25+13.33 mm; -13.33+3.35 mm) are extremely difficult to clean, whereas the cleaning potential is high for size fractions -3.35+1.00 mm (moderately difficult) and -1.00+0.15 mm (relatively easy). Modelling and simulation of several processing configurations indicate that at 16% target ash content, dense medium cyclone treating 38 x 1 mm coal particles will provide the maximum clean yield of 37.39% with sulphur content of 4.80%.

Abstract:
This study is aimed at comparing the efficacy of heat softening and ultrasonic removal of root-end gutta-percha during retrograde preparation for root apical microsurgery. Recently extracted single-rooted premolars ( n = 40 ) were prepared with standardized endodontically treated and root-end resection and then randomly divided into four groups that received root-end cavity preparation using four different instruments: a diamond-coated ultrasonic tip (AS3D; SACTEON, Paris, France), AS3D with the modified plugger of cordless heat carrier (MSE; B&L Biotech, Bala Cynwyd, PA, USA), stainless steel ultrasonic tip (Jetip-2; B&L Biotech, Bala Cynwyd, PA, USA), or Jetip-2 with MSE. The time required for root-end preparation was recorded. The root apex samples were examined by scanning electron microscopy to assess root surface microcracks and marginal integrity. The remnants of gutta-percha on the cavity walls were evaluated using a stereomicroscope. Statistical analysis was performed using Student’s t -test and Wilcoxon rank-sum test ( P < 0.05 ). Usage of MSE with Jetip-2 significantly reduced preparation time from 99.8 ± 6.8 s to 32.4 ± 1.0 s ( P = 0.009 ), the number of microcracks from 42 to 13 ( P = 0.036 ), and the remnants of gutta-percha from 80% to 20% ( P = 0.041 ). Similar results were observed for AS3D with MSE. The heat softening of MSE was effective in cleaning gutta-percha, thus greatly improving the efficiency of the root-end preparation, thereby producing a root-end cavity with fewer microcracks and better marginal integrity.

Abstract:
Jika diubah strukturnya, maka maknanya berubah.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Congenital cleft of earlobe is a rare malformation showing a wide range of severity. The surgical closure of the cleft is an indispensable treatment modality but the treatment should be customized according to the situation. The postsurgical cosmetic results are not always satisfactory as they are dependent on the location and amount of deficient tissues. Predictable esthetic results can be achieved by adopting comprehensive treatment protocol including a staged surgery and pressure therapy. The case report describes the provision of pressure therapy with an esthetically pleasing, inexpensive, custom-made ear pressure clip for a patient with recently operated congenital cleft earlobe. Abstract:
For prevention of diseases, Ayurveda had advocated the adherence to concepts like dina charya, ritu charya, sadvritta , Na vega dharan etc. these measures are useful in preventing the lifestyle related diseases but for preventing the Aupsargik rogas (communicable diseases), Janapada dhwansa rogas (epidemic diseases), Krumij Roga (Infectious diseases), Asatmyaj roga (allergic disorders), the concept of Vyadhikshamtva (Immunity) is propagated by the Ayurvedic science [1]. According to the concept of Ojas or Vyadhikshamatva or Bala (immunity), the body‟s resistance is of tremendous importance in the daily welfare of living beings not only for disease prevention but also for rapid recovery after disease affliction. [2] Ayurveda propounds that prevention is an equally important aspect of disease management as cure and thus, strengthening the immune system, is a natural way to help the body fight against the disease-causing pathogens. Acharyas promoted the use of Rasayana (Rejuvenation) to enhance ojas and vyadhikshamatva (immunity). This article is an effort to present Ayurvedic concepts of Vyadhishamatva.

Abstract:
Z-scheme photocatalytic particles in an aqueous solution with soluble redox shuttles present a promising pathway for solar water splitting to produce hydrogen. Tandem light absorbers more efficiently utilize the incident solar spectrum, and physically separating hydrogen and oxygen production sites offers a safe reactor design. Theoretically, these reactor designs are projected to achieve competitive solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies as large as 34% with idealized light absorbers, state-of-the-art hydrogen, and oxygen evolution catalysts, selective reactions, and rapid mass transfer rates1. However, practical demonstrations have been limited to significantly lower efficiencies that are less than 1%. In part, this effect is attributed to competing and undesired redox reactions occurring at the particle–cocatalyst–electrolyte interface. In this work, we develop and apply an expanded equivalent circuit model to test the effectiveness of coatings to achieve reaction selectivity by manipulating redox species transport to functional interfaces2. This model formulates light absorbers as photodiodes and accounts for the effects of kinetic and mass-transfer resistances for both the desired and competing redox reactions. Transport properties in the coatings are parametrized as a function of its thickness, species permeabilities, and solubility coefficients. Mass transport rates are computed as a function of species concentration and concentration boundary layer thickness. Additionally, spatial profiles of light intensity in a reactor with multiple light absorbers are evaluated for an ensemble of (a) optically thin semitransparent slabs, and (b) particles that can absorb and scatter incident light. Results reveal the interplay of light absorption behavior, coating transport and kinetic properties, and mass transfer rates on the predicted solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies. An optimum concentration of light absorbers is shown to maximize light absorption while minimizing the extent of competing reactions. Results are further interpreted to provide insight on design principles for selective coatings to maximize efficiency. Overall, the modeling framework provides new capabilities with a tractable approach to traverse the multidimensional dependencies of various parameters on the solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies for Z-scheme photocatalytic systems. Abstract:
The growth and existence of the human body is dependent on these seven Dhatus. These seven Dhatus are composed of five elements or Panchmahabhutas. Dhatu Sarata or Tissue excellence is a quality assessment of seven Dhatu. Examination of Dhatu Sarata is done at physical and psychological level. For determining the Dhatu Sarata, when the positive features are present above 75 %, it will be considered as best tissue quality (Uttam Sarata). When the positive features are present between 75 % and 25 %, it will be considered as moderate tissue quality (Madhyam Sarata). When positive features are present below 25 %, it will be labeled as poor tissue quality (Heen Sarata). The bodily movements which are meant for producing firmness and strength in the body are known as Vyayama or physical exercises. „Dehabala’ (Physical fitness) of subjects will be determined by Harvard step test. “Harvard Step Test” is a practical application of Ayurvedic Principal that “Bala should be measured by Vyamshakti” (Balam Vyayamshakty Parikshet). The person should be examined with reference to his capacity for exercise which is determined by one‟s ability to perform work. Therefore this study will estimate Dehabala and study the Dhatusarata and their association between them.

Abstract:
Abstract: This article discusses the tafsir al-lughawi> especially in terms of the aspects of balaghah al-Qur'an. Tafsir al-lughawi> is one of the features of interpretation that explains the verses of the al-Qur’an from the side of language. Because the al-Qur'an has a very high language style, the interpreter who will interpret the al-Qur’an with this style must have the ability in the balaghah of the Qur'an. Abstract:
Z-scheme semiconductor particles present in an aqueous solution with soluble redox shuttles provides a promising two-step approach to split water to produce hydrogen and oxygen using sunglight. This approach facilitates efficient utilization of the incident solar spectrum with tandem light-absorbers and promotes safe reactor operation with hydrogen and oxygen produced in physically distinct locations. Thermodynamically, these systems are projected to achieve solar-to-hydrogen (STH) efficiencies that are comparable to the electrode architectures, which are as large as 34% with idealized light absorbers and perfect reaction selectivity1. Up to 4% STH efficiencies were theoretically projected for state-of-the-art light absorbers and cocatalysts with diffusion-driven redox shuttle transport between reaction sites2. However, practical demonstrations are limited to efficiencies that are significantly smaller (less than 1%)3. Two main factors impeding actual performance in these systems include: (a) undesired reactions of any redox species, including hydrogen, oxygen, or the redox shuttle species, on the photocatalyst site; and (b) mass-transfer limitations of reactant/product species between oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction sites. In this work, I will present materials- and device-level insights obtained from physics-based models of varying complexities. An expanded, zero-dimensional (0-D), equivalent-circuit model is developed to probe the effectiveness of semipermeable oxide coatings to achieve reaction selectivity. This model introduces powerful innovations to model parallel/competing redox reactions at the valence and conduction bands, while also accounting for mass-transfer limitations. Moreover, our framework provides a tractable approach to quantify the multidimensional dependencies of coating transport and kinetic parameters, concentration of light absorbers, and species mass-transfer rates on the STH efficiencies. At the reactor-scale, we assess the viability of natural convective currents to enhance species mixing. Temperature and concentration profiles are predicted from a two-dimensional (2-D), coupled flow, heat, and mass-transfer model of two reaction compartments separated by a membrane. Modeling predictions are compared to and validated against experimental measurements on dual-compartment reactor prototypes. Enhanced rate of species transport is predicted in the presence of thermal convection in addition to diffusion. Improved species mixing is observed for the horizontal, as compared to the vertically stacked, arrangement of reaction compartments, and is attributed to attenuation of incident sunlight by the membrane present along the optical path. With 2-cm tall reaction compartments, the minimum redox shuttle concentration needed to sustain a 10% STH efficiency decreases by 80% in the presence of natural convection as compared to diffusion. Overall, these results provide new insights and strategies to realize highly effective materials-to-device scale designs for Z-scheme photocatalytic solar fuel reactors with soluble redox shuttles. Abstract:

Abstract:
Michael Elliott was the leader of work at Rothamsted that invented and subsequently commercially developed the pyrethroids, a new class of insecticides. Michael made probably the greatest individual contribution to the control of insect pests that not only constrain global food production but also affect the health of ourselves and our livestock. In one of the first pioneering structure–activity relationship studies, Michael led the multidisciplinary team that invented the major pyrethroid insecticides bioresmethrin, permethrin, cypermethrin and deltamethrin. In the 1980s these represented two-thirds of the global pyrethroid market; at that time pyrethroids captured more than 25% of the total insecticide market and were used on 33 million hectares of crops (Wirtz et al . 2009). In 2002 deltamethrin was the world's largest-selling pyrethroid, with annual sales worth $208 million (information from Cropnosis Ltd). In terms of human health, in 2009 it was estimated that pyrethroid-treated bednets significantly decreased the number of deaths due to malaria among children under five years of age by about one-fifth as well as reducing all incidents of malaria, and in 2011 the World Health Organization recommended its vastly expanded use. Abstract:
Passive flux meters (PFMs) have become invaluable tools for site characterization and evaluation of remediation performance at groundwater contaminated sites. To date, PFMs technology has been demonstrated in the field to measure midrange hydrophobic contaminants (e.g., chlorinated ethenes, fuel hydrocarbons, perchlorate) and inorganic ions (e.g., uranium and nitrate). However, flux measurements of low partitioning contaminants (e.g., 1,4-dioxane, hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-s-triazine (RDX)) and reactive ions-species (e.g., sulfate (SO42−), Chromium(VI) (Cr(VI)) are still challenging because of their low retardation during transport and quick transformation under highly reducing conditions, respectively. This study is the first application of PFMs for in-situ mass flux measurements of 1,4-dioxane, RDX, Cr(VI) and SO42− reduction rates. Laboratory experiments were performed to model kinetic uptake rates and extraction efficiency for sorbent selections. Silver impregnated granular activated carbon (GAC) was selected for the capture of 1,4-dioxane and RDX, whereas Purolite 300A (Bala Cynwyd, PA, USA) was selected for Cr(VI) and SO42−. PFM field demonstrations measured 1,4-dioxane fluxes ranging from 13.3 to 55.9 mg/m2/day, an RDX flux of 4.9 mg/m2/day, Cr(VI) fluxes ranging from 2.3 to 2.8 mg/m2/day and SO42− consumption rates ranging from 20 to 100 mg/L/day. This data suggests other low-partitioning contaminates and reactive ion-species could be monitored using the PFM.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This study reviews legal instruments relevant to the rights of indigenous peoples to education, the indigenous education system in Malaysia, as well as their rights and practices in other jurisdictions. The review shows that the indigenous peoples in Malaysia face many challenges and issues while exercising their rights to education. Among the problems faced by indigenous peoples in Malaysia include the lack of access to trained teachers, inadequate funding, and a lack of knowledge among teachers, in terms of indigenous culture and tradition, which seemingly play no role in shaping the education system in Malaysia. Evidence of these problems can be seen in terms of the opportunities provided to indigenous peoples to participate in decision-making, curriculum design, teachers' selection, and teaching methods that respect indigenous cultures and traditions. This is not compatible with the international law standards and some states' best practices that recognize indigenous peoples' right to establish and control their educational systems and institutions and provide education in their language, in a manner consistent with non-discrimination teaching and learning culture. This paper is expected to contribute to improving the quality of education of the indigenous peoples in Malaysia through some recommendations. Abstract:
ABSTRACT Objective The aim of this study was to compare the number of crack formation in retrograde cavities after preparation with ultrasound, Er, Cr:YSGG (erbium, chromium:yttrium, scandium, gallium and garnet) laser with different power and frequency settings and bur. Materials and Methods Root canals of 60 extracted human maxillary incisors were prepared, the apices were horizontally cut and class I retrograde cavities were prepared using an ultrasonic unit (group 1), Er, Cr:YSGG laser (group 2: 3.5 W, 30 Hz; group 3: 3.5 W, 20 Hz; group 4: 4 W, 30 Hz; group 5: 4 W 20 Hz) or high-speed bur (group 6). Cracks were examined under a stereomicroscope at a magnification of ×20, scored (0 to 3) and classified according to their location (cementum, dentin, canal wall). Scanning electron microscopy analysis was also performed. Results Greatest number of cracks was found in the cementum, and least on the canal wall. Ultrasonics followed by bur created the greatest number of crack in the dentin. No significant differences were found when groups 2 and 4, 3 and 5, and 2 and 3 were compared at the 3 regions. A significant difference was found between groups 4 and 5 at the dentin region. Conclusion The ultrasonic is the most aggressive root-end preparation technique. The most favorable laser setting was the one used in Group 5; and generally it was safer also than the ultrasound and the bur groups. How to cite this article Arslan S, Bala O, Berk G, Kayaoglu G. Abstract:
ABSTRACT Introduction The community-oriented primary care (COPC) services model is an approach prescribed by the Medical Council of India for existing medical colleges in India from their respective urban and rural health training centers (RHTCs). However, the evidence of whether it is better as compared with pure primary health care approach in the Indian context is lacking in the literature. Therefore, it becomes imperative to study this area for its further expansion. Materials and methods The study was done in the catchment area of RHTC and neighboring primary health center (PHC; Makhiyali) attached to the medical college in the district of Western Uttar Pradesh in India. Three surveyed villages out of six villages from July 1, 2016, to December 31, 2016, were taken in this study. Finally, the COPC vs primary health care approach comparison was done on four outcome parameters. Results The utilization of COPC services from RHTC area as compared with primary health care services from PHC area was significantly better for all diseases combined (p < 0.005) and also in the category of management of upper respiratory tract infections (p < 0.0001) and nutritional deficiencies (p < 0.05). On further applying COPC services model, it was also found that RHTC services were significantly better as compared with PHC services in terms of socioeconomic impact on health from services (p < 0.0000), identification of health needs from services (p < 0.0000), and participation in health care services (p < 0.05). Conclusion The COPC services model appears to be successful in the delivery of health care services from RHTC of a medical college as compared with pure primary health care approach delivered from a PHC. However, authors suggest more in-depth multicentric studies on this issue before generalization of COPD model usage across the world. Abstract:
Particle suspension reactors for solar water splitting are capable of generating hydrogen at a cost that is competitive with hydrogen produced from steam methane reforming.1-3 Our team has validated a reactor design that resembles Nature’s Z-scheme where two stacked and connected photocatalyst particle suspension reactor beds together drive overall solar water splitting.3 Electron (and proton) management between the beds occurs by transport of a redox shuttle through a nanoporous separator. Efficient designs require that the redox shuttle is selectively oxidized and reduced at the particles that drive H2 evolution and O2 evolution, respectively. By device physics numerical simulations we showed that even for highly efficient reactor designs (10% STH efficiency) redox shuttle transport between the beds can be sustained with only passive diffusion.3 In my presentation I will report on our team’s recent progress on this design. Using finite-element numerical analyses we modelled and simulated the transient mass transport processes, light absorption, electrochemical kinetics, gas crossover, and thermal transport in the proposed reactor. Experimentally, we synthesized, characterized, and evaluated the photo(electro)chemical performance of the most promising photocatalyst nanocrystallites (BiVO4, WO3, and Rh-doped SrTiO3) as mesoporous thin films and as particles in model reactors, and in the presence of several different redox shuttles and at various pH values. For H2-evolving Rh-doped SrTiO3, we demonstrated that in the presence of Fe(II) the limiting rate of Fe(III) reduction decreases and the rate of H2 evolution increases; however, these desired processes occurred along with undesired Fe(III) reduction and undesired H2 oxidation. Introduction of Ru cocatalysts enhanced performance by increasing the rate of H2 evolution and to a lesser extent undesired Fe(III) reduction. For O2-evolving WO3, we showed that O2 does not interfere with collection of electrons and that selectivity toward Fe(III) reduction is possible at moderate concentrations of Fe(III). Overall, results from several studies using a series of redox shuttles and photocatalyst particles will be presented. Collectively, our efforts represent strides toward achieving a high-level of techno-economic viability in solar water splitting reactors. Abstract:
Abstract Despite the implementation of screening and preventative strategies, colorectal cancer (CRC) remains the second most deadly cancer worldwide and is responsible for an alarming trend of increasing prevalence among younger patients. Inappropriate WNT activation is the initiating step in sporadic CRC development, typically through deleterious mutations in the pathway negative regulator Adenomatous polyposis coli (APC). WNT pathway hinders whereas transforming growth factor (TGF-β)/bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling supports differentiation of progenitors into mature enterocytes, establishing a crypt-villus gradient. Genomic alterations that dysregulate intestinal stem cell differentiation are central to CRC development. Impairment of differentiation and inappropriate Sox9 overexpression are conserved events in CRC initiation based on the evaluation of two genetically engineered mouse models, two carcinogen-induced mouse models, and a patient with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), a hereditary polyposis syndrome in which a mutant copy of APC is inherited. Single cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) of adenomas from an ApcKO mouse model and FAP sample implicates an aberrant stem cell-like program (herein referred to as AbSC) as a key aspect of CRC initiation. The AbSc program is characterized by selective intestinal stem cell activity, indiscriminate attenuation of differentiated lineages, and aberrant activation of genes associated with fetal intestinal development. Histopathology and scRNA-seq of adenomas and derivative organoids from a patient with FAP demonstrated a partial block in differentiation and confirmed reactivation of genes reserved for intestinal development. Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin with high-throughput sequencing (ATAC-seq) of APCKO epithelial cells revealed increased chromatin accessibility at fetal intestinal genes. Genetic inactivation of Sox9 prevented adenoma formation in ApcKO mice and induced differentiation of ApcKO organoids, obstructing the emergence of the ApcKO transcriptional state, including reactivation of a fetal-like intestinal program, restored multi-lineage differentiation, and markedly reduced the gained chromatin accessibility at developmental genes in neoplasia. These studies indicate that an aberrant transcriptional state hindering intestinal differentiation mediated by Sox9 is an early conserved event in CRC and carry important implications for developing therapeutics directed at inducing intestinal differentiation. Abstract:
Abstract The aberrant activation of the hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway causes the progression of therapy-resistant castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). In this study, we aimed to unravel the biological significance of Gli-family proteins and their functional involvement of Gsk3β-mediated regulatory mechanism(s) in CRPC. We have discovered a novel function of the truncated form of Gli (t-Gli3) in advancing CRPC. This was accomplished through in silico analysis, in vitro experiments, PCa patient clinical data, and in vivo PCa MYC overexpression mouse models. Our investigation into the Gli3 regulation, typically influenced by receptor-mediated ciliary localization, uncovered a Smo-independent mechanism. Surprisingly, despite the lack of a transactivation domain in t-Gli3, we found a specific requirement for an androgen receptor variant 7 (AR-V7) for its action, as evidenced by co-immunoprecipitation and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. Mechanistically, Gsk3β activation leads to the t-Gli3 generation, and inhibition of Gsk3β supported the accumulation of full-length Gli3 through a non-canonical mechanism. Knockdown of Gsk3β (Gsk3β KD) reduces CRPC cell proliferation in 2-D and 3-D culture models, inhibiting key proliferative signaling pathways and inducing apoptosis via mitochondrial fragmentation. These findings were supported using an orthotropic PCa mouse model. RNA-seq analysis also showed upregulated phenotype enrichment of the apoptosis, P53, and glycolysis pathway genes in 22Rv1Gsk3β KD cells. Compared to scramble, a lower OCR/mitochondrial respiratory rate is evident in 22Rv1Gsk3β KD cells. Next, our exploration of potential therapies for PCa showed that individually targeting Smo or Gli1 is insufficient to inhibit cell viability. Interestingly, we uncovered that solely targeting Gli3 was sufficient to inhibit the growth of CRPC cells. In conclusion, our study provides the significance of Gli-family proteins and novel insights into the interplay of Gsk3β, t-Gli3, and AR, offering therapeutic implications in CRPC. Abstract:
ABSTRACT Introduction Trauma remains to be a leading cause of maxillofacial injury globally. Motorized two wheelers (MTWs) are the main cause of (73%) maxillofacial injuries in the road traffic accidents; in several studies, the right side of maxillofacial injuries was reported as the common side of injury than left side. In our previous study, the percentage of the right side injuries was higher than the left side. Aim The aim of this study is to evaluate the influencing factors of the maxillofacial injury by MTWs and to find the association between the side maxillofacial injuries and the handedness of drivers. Materials and methods Clusters sampling method was used; 20 clusters were selected in Chennai. Motorized twowheeler drivers were selected. Data collected by prepared questionnaires’ were statistically analyzed. Data included the demographic details, type of vehicle, engine capacity, average driving speed, years of driving, regular usage of the helmet, type, mode and frequency of accident, management, influence of alcohol, and use of the helmet at the time of injury. The side of the facial injury and handedness of drivers were recorded. Results From the total of 721 participants, 75.7% were males, 24.3% were females; 46.74% were in the age of 18 to 25; mean age is 29.45. Bikes were 55.9%, scooter 38.2%, moped 8.3%; 59.9% are geared; 50.5% were 80 to 100 cc vehicles types and 37% were 110 to 150 cc types; 62% of male's average speed is 80 km/hour; 53% of female's average speed is less than 40 km/hour. Only 18.06% had used at the time of injury. 39.4% of females had accidents, males had 59.3% (p < 0.0001). Two-wheeler vs two-wheeler accidents were 24.8%; two-wheeler vs four wheeler were 19%; by pedestrians crossing 18.7%; by animal crossing was 16.5%; skid two wheeler 20%. A total of 30.02% were under the influence of alcohol. Right-side injuries were 44.5%; left side 25.9% (p < 0.0001), while 96.9% were right-handers. Conclusion Right-side injuries were common in MTW skid and fall. Speed, type of vehicle, handedness, influence of alcohol, use of helmet, mode of injury, all are the determining factors for pattern and severity of injury. Helmet usage would definitely minimize the head injury to some extent. How to cite this article Mohanavalli S, Thinakaran M, Bala GSV. Abstract:
Z-scheme photocatalytic suspension reactors with aqueous redox shuttles present a promising pathway for safe and low cost solar water splitting to produce hydrogen. Soluble redox shuttles act as electron relays between light absorbing particles present in the two compartments. In recent work we have demonstrated a theoretical pathway to attain up to 4% solar-to-hydrogen efficiency with passive diffusion driven species transport [1]. However, to attain larger solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies it is crucial to enhance the rate of species transport between the two reaction compartments. We report on computational and experimental investigations to explore the effects of natural convection on species transport in Z-scheme photocatalytic systems. A transient, two-dimensional fluid flow, heat- and mass-transfer model was developed for a two-compartment system with a porous separator; horizontal and vertical reactor arrangements were considered. Volumetric absorption of visible and infrared components of incident sunlight by the suspension was modeled. Transient species concentration profiles were obtained as a function of the operating solar-to-hydrogen efficiencies, porous separator morphology and the size of the compartments. Model results predict enhanced rates of transport of redox shuttle species between two compartments in the presence of thermal convection in addition to diffusion. At 10% solar-to-hydrogen efficiency, minimum redox shuttle concentration with convection decreases by 80% as compared to passive diffusion alone for a vertically stacked reaction compartment with 2 cm height. Experimental measurements have been also performed on two-compartment prototypes (horizontal and vertical) to probe the effects of natural convection on species mixing. The source of illumination was a xenon-lamp solar simulator (Newport 94023A) with an AM1.5G filter and calibrated such that the incident illumination power at the top of the reactor was 1 sun (1000 W/m2). The reactor was assembled by connecting two polycarbonate tubes (5 cm x 5 cm) with a height of 5 cm and placing a thin separator (Nafion 117 and regenerated cellulose) between the tubes to separate the compartments. A base was 3D-printed and painted black to secure the bottom compartment and maximize absorption of the incident illumination and promote natural convection. Thermocouples (K-type) were placed at various heights within the two compartments to track local temperatures within the fluid, including along the bottom surface of the lower compartment. Over a 3-hour period of 1 sun irradiance, the temperatures were recorded, and a favorable temperature gradient for natural convection was observed (ΔT ~ 2 °C) for vertically-stacked reaction compartments. The flow behavior was visualized through the injection of a colored dye at the bottom surface of the reactor and above the membrane after the 3-hour period. Image processing of the convection video is used to help quantify the rate of mixing within the compartments. Model predictions for flow behavior and temperature profiles were compared to and validated against experimental measurements. Collectively, this study implements a unique approach to predict and evaluate the effect of natural convection on species transport in Z-scheme photocatalytic reactors. Abstract:
Abstract Cell state plasticity – the ability of cells to acquire new states via differentiation programs - is an important feature of embryogenesis, allowing for tissue specification during development, and adult homeostasis, enabling adaptive responses to physiological cues and pathological states. Epigenetic governance and gene regulation endow epithelia with restricted cell state plasticity that enable tissue homeostasis while avoiding properties that may facilitate neoplasia. There is emerging evidence that aberrant expansion of the normally restricted capability for cell state plasticity to escape terminal differentiation is a key aspect of cancer initiation. The nongenetic factors and specific programs that mediate aberrant cell state plasticity require deeper characterization to understand this elusive aspect of cancer pathogenesis. Previously challenging to study, cell state plasticity can now be investigated using single cell technology, offering unprecedented molecular resolution. We applied state-of-the-art methods on primary human tissue and derivative organoids as well as different mouse models to (a) characterize aberrant transcriptional cell states enabling cancer initiation and (b) define a functional mediator of expanded cell state plasticity. Using genetically engineered and carcinogen-induced murine models of intestinal neoplasia, we demonstrate that inappropriate Sox9 expression and loss of post-mitotic villus differentiation are early events preceding cancer development. By applying single cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) to flow-sorted epithelial cells from the Lgr5Cre; Apcf/f; R26tdT genetic model, we observed that preneoplastic cells express specific intestinal stem cell genes but are otherwise transcriptionally rewired, evading resemblance to normal intestinal cell types; we therefore refer to these cells as aberrant stem cell-like (AbSC). We further analyzed the AbSC transcriptional state, searching for features that explain its distinguished gene expression profile, and found that it is characterized by impaired differentiation, enhanced regenerative capacity, and reactivation of fetal genes. The evaluation of preneoplastic colonic lesions from the carcinogen-induced mouse model and a patient with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) by scRNA-seq confirmed these findings. Notably, while chromatin accessibility increased at regenerative genes, new accessibility was observed at fetal intestinal genes by ATAC-seq. Genetic inactivation of Sox9 prevented adenoma formation in ApcKO mice, obstructed emergence of the aberrant transcriptional state, including genes reserved for fetal intestinal development, and restored multi-lineage differentiation by scRNA-seq. SOX9 knockdown in human adenoma organoids compromised expression of fetal genes and induced differentiation. These studies indicate that cancer initiation requires aberrant phenotypic plasticity mediated by unabated regenerative activity and developmental reprogramming. Abstract:
Palavras-chave: Lingua(gem), Subjetividade, Violência ______________________________ Cidade de Deus tells the history of the construction of the housing complex that entitles the novel and its transformation process into one of the most violent slums of Rio de Janeiro. By treating the novel as an enunciation (BENVENISTE, 1989a; 1989b; 1995a; 1995b) between author and reader, which is made of other enunciations ? between narrator and narratee and between characters ?, based on the author´s “fictional act”(ISER, 2002), we intend to analyze the way how Lins relates language and violence. Keywords: Language, Subjectivity, Violence.

Abstract:
Carbon-based energy sources stand for more than 85% of the total energy consumed. This energetic situation will no longer be sustainable in a near future. Fusion power can be a good option to face this energy challenge as they are expected to provide clean, safe, and low-cost effective energy. In future fusion reactors, deuterium and tritium are suggested to be used as fuel, releasing helium, neutrons, and large amounts of energy [1]. However, since there are no natural tritium sources, it must be in situ generated. Different concepts for tritium breeding modules (TBM) are considered to be constructed in nuclear fusion reactors [2]. One of the proposals is the so-called Helium-Cooled Lithium-Lead breeding blankets (HCLL). This TBM suggests the use of molten eutectic Pb-Li [3]. However, the transformation of lithium to tritium due to the breeding reaction will cause a decrease in the lithium concentration of the alloy [4]. 6Li + 1n → 4He + 3H + 4.8MeV (1) If the composition of the alloy changes, undesirable alterations in physical and chemical properties, such as the melting point or tritium diffusivity, will happen. For that reason, lithium concentration is a highly relevant parameter that must be controlled to ensure the correct operation of future fusion reactors. Therefore, new analytical tools for online Li monitoring in harsh chemical environments are required. In this work, potentiometric sensors for lithium monitoring in molten Pb-Li alloys were constructed using Li6BaLa2Ta2O12 (LBLTO) Li-ion conducting solid-state electrolyte. Sensors were constructed by binding LBLTO sintered disks to alumina tubes using a glass binder. Pb-Li alloys used for the working (WE) and reference electrodes (RE) were prepared by mixing the required quantities of lithium and lead inside a glovebox with controlled oxygen and moisture concentrations (O2 and H2O < 0.1 ppm). Experiments were performed inside a stainless-steel reactor placed inside a glovebox. In the RE, molten Pb-Li with 3 at% Li content was used. In contrast, Pb-Li alloys with concentrations close to the eutectic composition (between 13 at% Li and 19 %at Li) were used in the WE. Potentiometric measurements were performed at 500 ºC to simulate breeding blankets operation conditions. Experimental data was in good agreement with calculations using the Nernst equation. Abstract:
To read, see, talk and believe differently a response to other readers reading of Om die Bybel anders te lees: n Etiek van Bybellees As any exegesis is necessarily preceded by certain theological convictions, the author of the book Om die Bybel anders te lees: n Etiek van Bybellees (2007) responds to criticism on the book flowing from a seminar especially the remarks made by Hans van Deventer and Jurie le Roux. Firstly, the ideas on a changed view of the deity are discussed. This conversation is augmented by a discussion of the criticism levelled at the idea that reading the Bible has consequences for other people, and that a different reading would lead to a different concept of God. Van Deventers comments regarding the difficulty of debating theological issues are strengthened by a critical discussion of a debate in Die Kerkblad regarding the grammatical-historical method. His critical remarks regarding the value of a historical consciousness are discussed by way of a question on the relationship between a liberal theology and a conservative political point of view. Le Rouxs struggle with Snymans utilisation of apartheid as a rhetorical strategy leads the discussion to a recent example of overcoming racism while using unreflectingly racist imagery. This example indicates how theology effects cosmetic changes, without taking on the real issue. For this reason, the author concludes that a critical reading of the own Western tradition in Africa has become necessary.--- Abstract translated into Sipedi ---Go bala, go bona, go bolela le go dumela ka go fapana - go arabela go balwa ga 'Om die Bybel anders te lees: n Etiek van Bybellees' ke babadi ba bangweBjale ka ge go fetleka Bibele go etwa pele ke ditumelo ta go tiba ta teologi, mongwadi wa Om die Bybel anders te lees: n Etiek van Bybellees (2007) o arabela ditsholo ta puku ye teo di tswetwego ke seminare ye e fetilego - kudu ditshwayotshwayo ta Hans van Deventer le Jurie le Roux. Abstract:
Kauarbhritya is a branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda that defines a unique concept regarding disease caused by unidentified vectors known as Balagraha. Unfortunately it is abandoned in today’s era due to its mythological explanation which kept evidences far away from scientific justification. Therefore an effort has been done with an aim to understand Bala graha on modern parameters as well as its clinical application in day to day practice. Material for the present review was collected from Ayurvedic textbooks. After thorough study of the concept of balagraha it is concluded that these unidentified vectors are thought to be microbes which cannot be seen by naked eyes but produce group of diseases of multi systemic-origin and syndromes.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT In this issue of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, S. García-Fernandez, Y. Bala, T. Armstrong, M. Garcia-Castillo, et al. (J Clin Microbiol 58:e01042-19, 2020, https://doi.org/10.1128/JCM.01042-19) describe the performance of a reformulated Etest for piperacillin-tazobactam. The analytical performance data are excellent, but in the face of recent emerging data on the inefficacy of piperacillin-tazobactam for certain organisms that test susceptible, the value of piperacillin-tazobactam MICs is controversial. Evaluation of MICs in the context of the modal MIC for Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the variability of MIC tests, and, possibly, resistance mechanisms is important to the optimum use of this antimicrobial.

Abstract:
Within patriarchy men enjoy almost absolute authority that relegates women to a seemingly powerless entity. India is a case in point. However, historically mothers have often been instrumental in parental control in Indian households. According to Hagan’s Powercontrol theory of gender difference in risk preference, sons are subjects to weaker maternal parental control because they are mostly occupied with the outer world. Hence, unlike daughters in a patriarchal household, they are more risk prone and delinquent. On the other hand, daughters are generally risk averse for their mothers’ direct instrumental control. They deploy a powerful emotional intelligence through strong interpersonal network. This paper argues that R. K. Narayan in Grandmother’s Tale takes such aspects of feminine strength into consideration and relays that through the story of Bala, as told to him by her grandmother; thereby revealing a kind of position of power for women in society which can be characterized as ‘low patriarchy’. By depicting different levels of parental control placed upon children in her story, Grandmother raises the narrator of the story in a female-headed household which induces him into understanding the differences between him and children brought up under patriarchy. This paper will explore how the narrator, along with his Grandmother, advocates a new domestic sphere where male and female children can be equally dutiful and well-behaved through the intervention of higher feminine intelligence and low patriarchy.Philosophy and Progress, Vol#55-56; No#1-2; Jan-Dec 2014

Abstract:
RESUMO Objetivo Descrever e comparar as variáveis cinemáticas temporoespaciais do movimento mandibular durante a mastigação unilateral deliberada e habitual de indivíduos saudáveis.
