Abstract:
This study aims to provide a description of the positive predictions of international institutions, demographic bonuses and covid-19: will Indonesia really enjoy the demographic bonus in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic? This study uses a qualitative method that uses a type of literature study which is carried out by examining several theories that depart from a problem then analyzed from various literatures ranging from available journals, the internet, and various existing facts. The data collection method used is through data reduction techniques, namely the selection, simplification, and transportation of data so that results or conclusions are drawn up systematically. This study concludes that the experiences of South Korea, China, and the United States are very different from Indonesia, these countries can enjoy a demographic bonus without any barrier variables in the form of the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the demographic bonus with the growth of baby boomers in the Golden Indonesia era was obtained by this extraordinary event. Both indicators and parameters will of course differ from these countries. So this is a very big gamble for Indonesia to be in accordance with what has been predicted by the international institutions or vice versa.

Abstract:
Abstract Using a unique dataset from Australia, we investigate how individual fertility preferences translate into fertility realizations. We find consistent evidence that the wife’s preference is more important than the husband’s preference in predicting subsequent births, no matter whether her initial fertility desire is higher or lower than that of her partner. We also explore the effects of the introduction of the non-means-tested Baby Bonus introduced in 2004 by testing whether the hypothesis that the cash transfers from the scheme increase the bargaining power of the partner with higher fertility desire, thus leading to an increase in fertility for couples with disagreement on fertility plans. Our findings do not support this hypothesis. They also do not suggest any significant fertility-enhancing effect of the scheme.

Abstract:
IntroductionThis study examined the impact of antismoking activities targeting the general population and an advertising campaign targeting smoking during pregnancy on the prevalence of smoking during pregnancy in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.MethodsMonthly prevalence of smoking during pregnancy was calculated using linked health records for all pregnancies resulting in a birth (800 619) in NSW from 2003 to 2011. Segmented regression of interrupted time series data assessed the effects of the extension of the ban on smoking in enclosed public places to include licensed premises (evaluated in combination with the mandating of graphic warnings on cigarette packs), television advertisements targeting smoking in the general population, print and online magazine advertisements targeting smoking during pregnancy and increased tobacco tax. Analyses were conducted for all pregnancies, and for the population stratified by maternal age, parity and socioeconomic status. Further analyses adjusted for the effect of the Baby Bonus maternity payment.ResultsPrevalence of smoking during pregnancy decreased from 2003 to 2011 overall (0.39% per month), and for all strata examined. For pregnancies overall, none of the evaluated initiatives was associated with a change in the trend of smoking during pregnancy. Significant changes associated with increased tobacco tax and the extension of the smoking ban (in combination with graphic warnings) were found in some strata.ConclusionsThe declining prevalence of smoking during pregnancy between 2003 and 2011, while encouraging, does not appear to be directly related to general population antismoking activities or a pregnancy-specific campaign undertaken in this period.

Abstract:
The distribution of wealth has grown increasingly unequal, especially along racial lines. Lawmakers and researchers propose to address the issue with universal “baby bonds,” paid to every newborn and preserved until young adulthood. Bond values are tied inversely to wealth up to a $50,000 maximum investment. This study uses longitudinal data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics on the assets of young adults to simulate contemporary racial inequalities under a counterfactual policy environment in which the United States had administered baby bonds when the current cohort of young adults were newborns. Initial bond values are defined categorically by quintiles of household wealth observed in 1989 and 1994, smoothed across the inverse hyperbolic sine of household wealth, and then assumed to grow at 2% per year through 2015. Without baby bonds, young White Americans hold approximately 16 times the wealth of young Black Americans at the median ($46,000 vs. $2,900). Baby bonds reduce the disparity to a factor of 1.4 ($79,143 vs. $57,845), in the absence of intervening behavioral responses to the policy. The share held by the top decile decreases from 72% to 65%, marginally approaching the more egalitarian societies. Baby bonds considerably narrow wealth inequalities while simultaneously improving the net asset position of young adults and alleviating asset concentration.

Introduction: Meconium staining of amniotic fluid (MSAF) is a natural phenomenon in pregnant mothers and their fetuses. MSAF may lead to developing Meconium Aspiration Syndrome (MAS). Surfactant replacement therapy has recently emerged as a therapy in MAS, but no guideline outlines how to administer it properly. Case Presentation: We present two term neonates with severe MAS cases focusing on the bolus surfactant replacement therapy. The first baby was given surfactant at 23 hours after birth and the second baby at 8 hours after birth. We used Survanta (beractant) in the dose of 100 mg/kg BW in both cases. Clinical improvement was observed 24 hours after surfactant bolus administration with different clinical characteristics, treatment approaches, and outcomes. Conclusion: In conclusion, therapeutic surfactant bolus in severe MAS may improve outcomes without significant adverse side effects.

Abstract:

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a connective tissue formation disorder that is generally characterized by bone fragility, osteopenia, blue sclera, dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI), and hearing loss. This disease occurs due to changes in collagen type 1 that form the basis of bone formation so that bones tend to be thinner and smaller. The bones become weak and easily cracked. OI has been classified by type according to the system based on the mode of inheritance, clinical features, and information from the X-ray. There are four types of osteogenesis imperfecta, namely Type I, Type II, Type III, and Type IV. Health problems are often seen in children and adults who have OI include: short stature, weak tissues, fragile skin, muscle weakness, and loose joints, bleeding, easy bruising, frequent nosebleeds, and tiny amounts of heavy bleeding from the wound, impaired loss of hearing can begin in childhood and affects approximately 50 % of adults, breathing problems, a higher incidence of asthma plus risk for other lung problems, spinal curvature.

Abstract:
Hypernatremic dehydration secondary to lactation failure remains a potentially life-threatening condition in countries where advanced laboratory investigations are scarce. An 11-day term baby with excessive weight loss (33.6%), reduced urine output, fever, jaundice, doughy skin, opisthotonus posturing, and tachycardia with poor perfusion was presented to our neonatal care. The baby was diagnosed with shock with hypernatremic dehydration. An initial bolus of 20 ml/kg of N/S was repeated 3 times (each over 20 minutes), i.e., a total of 204 ml was given over 1 hr, until the vital signs were normalized to PR-145, RR-45, T-37.2°C, SPO2-100%, and CRT < 3 seconds, and the baby began to void urine. Free water deficit and sodium excess was managed by gradual and slow correction over 72 hours to prevent cerebral oedema and neurologic sequelae. The baby required reconstituted solutions of 5% D/W + 1/2 N/S at a rate of 27 ml/hr for 72 hrs. Sepsis and hyperbilirubinemia were treated with antibiotics and phototherapy. Management of symptomatic hypernatremic dehydration must be considered in settings with inadequate laboratory facilities.

Abstract:
This research aimed to describe mothers' experiences, analyzing them in the light of the principles of the Kangaroo Mother Method (KMM), and discuss the mothers' contributions based on the meanings of these experiences for nursing actions. In data collection, a questionnaire was used that characterized the mothers' socioeconomic profile and, through focus groups, stories were obtained about the benefits of these experiences, which supported the construction of the following categories: survival and recovery of the baby; the mothers' daily life modified by the KMM and valuation of affective family bonds in the KMM. The experiences are related to increased bonding between mother and baby, reduction of the infant's time of separation from the family, besides leading to increased competition and confidence in the parents to take care of their child, even before discharge, improving the mother's relation with the family, inside the family and with the team that takes care of the baby.

Abstract:
Tyrannosaurids were the apex predators of Late Cretaceous Laurasia and their status as dominant carnivores has garnered considerable interest since their discovery, both in the popular and scientific realms. As a result, they are well studied and much is known of their anatomy, diversity, growth, and evolution. In contrast, little is known of the earliest stages of tyrannosaurid development. Tyrannosaurid eggs and embryos remain elusive, and juvenile specimens — although known — are rare. Perinatal tyrannosaurid bones and teeth from the Campanian–Maastrichtian of western North America provide the first window into this critical period of the life of a tyrannosaurid. An embryonic dentary (cf. Daspletosaurus) from the Two Medicine Formation of Montana, measuring just 3 cm long, already exhibits distinctive tyrannosaurine characters like a “chin” and a deep Meckelian groove, and reveals the earliest stages of tooth development. When considered together with a remarkably large embryonic ungual from the Horseshoe Canyon Formation of Alberta, minimum hatchling size of tyrannosaurids can be roughly estimated. A perinatal premaxillary tooth from the Horseshoe Canyon Formation likely pertains to Albertosaurus sarcophagus and it shows small denticles on the carinae. This tooth shows that the hallmark characters that distinguish tyrannosaurids from other theropods were present early in life and raises questions about the ontogenetic variability of serrations in premaxillary teeth. Sedimentary and taphonomic similarities in the sites that produced the embryonic bones provide clues to the nesting habits of tyrannosaurids and may help to refine the prospecting search image in the continued quest to discover baby tyrannosaurids.

Abstract:
Invention and subsequent development of human reproduction technologies allow people to manage reproductive risks, overcome infertility and widen alternative reproductive choice. Medicine has given men and women the access to programmes of saving biogenetic material, DNA-tests for identifying paternity and services for creating a genetic passport which identifies potential diseases and genetic peculiarities. However, assisted reproductive technologies, such as donorship of sex sells and surrogate motherhood, are violating the familiar integrity of reproductive process and changing the usual perception of kinship as sharing of biological substance. A distinguishing feature of the market for gamete donation and surrogate motherhood lies in the importance of both construction and deconstruction of kinship between donors, recipients of reproductive goods and services and a baby, who is born with the help of the ART methods (assisted reproductive technologies).Basing on the results of sociological research of donor sex sells market, the author of the article shows us how members of reproductive business coordinate different parts of their work (technical, emotional, legal, financial etc.), in order to solve the controversial problem of defining kinship between the participants of the donor programmes. On the one hand, medical specialists and representatives of reproductive agencies take part in destroying the kinship between a gamete donor and a baby, and on the other hand, they participate in creating and supporting kin ties between parents received donor sex sells and a baby, who doesn’t have common gens with them. Empirical study base consists of expert interviews with the employees of medical clinics and reproductive agencies in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Abstract:
The death of a baby, stillborn or living only briefly after birth, is a moral affront to the cycle of life, leaving parents without the life stories and material objects that traditionally offer comfort to the bereaved, nor—in an increasingly secularized society—a religious framework for making sense of their loss. For the grieving mother, it is also a physical affront, as her body continues to rehearse its part in its symbiotic relationship with a baby whose own body is disintegrating. Attempting to forge continuing bonds with her child after death makes special demands upon the notion of embodied spirituality, as she attempts to make sense of this tragedy in an embodied way. This paper, which reconciles the distinct perspectives of bereaved mothers and children’s doctors, proposes that the thoughtful re-presentation of medical insight into pregnancy and fetal development may assuage parents’ grief by adding precious detail to their baby’s life course, and by offering the mother a material basis to conceptualize her own body as part of the distributed personhood of her baby.

Abstract:
This article explores voluntarily childless women’s experiences and understandings of human-animal interactions and their attitudes towards companion animals. It draws on interviews with 15 Swedish women who expressed a lack of “maternal” feelings and therefore had remained voluntarily childless, or childfree (used here as two interchangeable concepts). Instead, the women described how they perceived the attachment bonds to companion animals that they had developed as similar to, or even superior to, the attachments bonds between parents and their children. The article thus introduces the expressions “peternal”, and “peternal feelings”, to denote these women’s attachment bonds to companion animals (primarily cats and dogs). The results, however, also illustrate that few of the women actually took on the role as “pet parent”. Although they longed to develop attachment bonds with companion animals, they were conflicted and experienced ambivalence, leading to decisions to develop avoidance strategies, resembling those involved in the childfree decision. Hence, many of them described themselves as both childfree and “petfree”.

Abstract:
Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) is a rare illness in infants that result from maternal infection with rubella virus during pregnancy. The case reported is a primigravida at 37.3 weeks of gestation with the complaints of headache, decreased urine output, bilateral pedal edema, puffiness of face and mild hydromnios suggesting pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH). The previous data showed that the fetus had bone anomalies. Controversially the mother had rubella immune before 12 weeks of pregnancy but the report of nuchal translucency (NT) scan taken during 12 weeks of pregnancy was normal. On history mother denied any evidence of rubella infection during or recently before pregnancy which shows it was asymptomatic. She was treated for PIH. By lower segment caesarean section (LSCS), she delivered an alive boy baby who was acrocyanotic and had deformity in all long bones and enlarged liver. Placenta was found to be abnormal. The baby was under observation and the investigation confirmed CRS. Baby had bradycardia and was intubated on following days and found baby’s vocal cord shape was abnormal. Baby had seizures and could not tolerate weaning from ventilator. Before further investigations, the baby was discharged against medical advice. Though very rare, CRS was found to have many consequences to the fetus. Hence it is significant to rule out rubella infection for mother during or recently before pregnancy as a part of routine antenatal checkup as many of them are asymptomatic. All women should be insisted about getting vaccination for rubella minimum 28 days before planning for conception and should be abandoned for those who were already pregnant.

Abstract:
The article considers the purpose of the research as defining the possibility of using recycled fish raw material (zander’s cheeks and fat) in production of canned fish baby food. The components of the developed pasteurized canned fish “Sudachok” (heads and cheeks of pike perch, blanched carrots, oatmeal or buckwheat flour, fat from zander’s intestine, concentrated fish broth prepared from zander’s head and vertebral bones) were tested for the concentration of fat, protein, carbohydrates; zander’s muscle tissue - for the concentration of essential amino acids. It was determined that zander’s cheeks make up 4.4 - 8.8% of head’s mass, they being high-protein tissue (protein content is more than 19%), low-fat (fat content is 0.7%) secondary raw material and contain non-protein nitrogen (NPN), where formol and titrate nitrogen (FTN) and volatile bases nitrogen (VBN) are 370.5, 39.3 and 8.0 mg/100g, respectively. Formulations were developed and the pasteurized fish cans for babies were produced using zander’s cheeks and vegetable components (carrots, oatmeal flour, or buckwheat flour), fat and concentrated broth from boiling zander’s head bones. The composition has an optimized protein and fat content. In terms of quality, the pilot samples of canned fish with the corrected number of individual components of the recipe were found to meet the requirements of All-Union State Standard 29276 “Canned fish for baby food”.

Subinternal limiting membrane (ILM) hemorrhage, also known as macular schisis, is a characteristic finding of this entity. There is no guideline on the right time to indicate surgical treatment. This report describes an abused child with massive sub-ILM hemorrhage, which showed spontaneous absorption after less than two months of follow-up. Due to the possible spontaneous resolution, we suggest an initial conservative treatment in cases of sub-ILM hemorrhage related to SBS.

Abstract:
Introduction: Obstetric fractures or Birth fractures are rare events following childbirth. Although fracture of the femur is a relatively uncommon injury, it is the most common fracture of the lower extremity in the newborn. Since evolution of cesarean section rates in Africa, it is one of the most commonly practiced modes of delivery for breech. We described one case of fracture of the femur at cesarean section treated at Adlucem hospital in bonabéri-Douala (Cameroon). Case report: A 2.1 kg male infant was delivered by lower segment cesarean section for breech presentation. Clinical and radiological examination showed shaft fracture of femur with good evolution. Discussion: Fractures of the long bones are associated with cesarean section, breech delivery with assistance and low birth weight. Femoral fractures are the most associated long bones fracture with cesarean section. Conclusion: The clinical and paraclinical diagnosis is simple and the management is mostly non-operative. It is important to explain to the parents and especially to the mother the benignity of the lesion.

Abstract:
The application of network methodology in anatomical structures offers new insights on the connectivity pattern of skull bones, skeletal elements and their muscles. Anatomical networks helped to improve our understanding of the water-to-land transition and how the pectoral fins were transformed into limbs via their modular disintegration. Here, we apply the same methodology to tetrapods secondarily adapted to the marine environment. We find that these animals achieved their return to the sea with four types of morphological changes, which can be grouped into two different main strategies. In all marine mammals and the majority of the reptiles, the fin is formed by the persistence of superficial and interdigital connective tissues, like a ‘baby mitten', whereas the underlying connectivity pattern of the bones does not influence the formation of the forefin. On the contrary, ichthyosaurs ‘zipped up' their fingers and transformed their digits into carpal-like elements, forming a homogeneous and better-integrated forefin. These strategies led these vertebrates into three different macroevolutionary paths exploring the possible spectrum of morphological adaptations.

Abstract:
The birth of a baby can trigger a jumble of powerful emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. But it can also result in something you might not expect-depression. Post-natal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby. It is a common problem, affecting more than 1 in every 10 women within a year of giving birth. Post-partum depression is not a character Á aw or a weakness. Sometimes it is simply a complication of giving birth. In post-partum depression, prompt treatment can mitigate the symptoms and help develop bonds with baby. The aim of this study was to determine the causes of post-partum depression among post-natal mothers from selected hospital at Bharuch using Edinburgh Post-natal Depression Scale Score (EPDS). In this retrospective study endeavour was made to assess the level of post-natal depression among mothers; identify the causes of depression among post-natal mothers; Ànd out the association between causes of post-natal depression with demographic variable. Cases were selected by probability sampling in which total enumerative sampling technique was used; total 60 samples were selected. EPDS was used to identify the causes of post-natal depression among mothers; 39 (65%) post-natal mothers had depression not likely; 12 (20%) had possible depression; 7 (11%) had fairly high possibility of depression; 2 (3%) had probably depression. Occupations of the husband, income and marital status have high association with level of depression. The major causes of post-natal depression were Number of pregnancies, Mode of delivery, Sex of baby, Health status of baby and Planned pregnancy. It was found that all factors are signiÀcant except planned pregnancy. To conclude, psychological support would enhance the attachment between mother and children; this will further reduce the impact of depression among the mothers.

Abstract:
This article presents the case of a 3-month-old male child, who while on bolus jejunostomy tube feeds, developed recurrent episodes of hypoglycaemia. This infant had presented with failure to thrive with moderate gastroesophageal reflux necessitating a feeding jejunostomy. The infant was started on bolus feeds through the jejunostomy tube but developed recurrent episodes of hypoglycaemia. On evaluation, these episodes were hyperinsulinaemic and the baby was subsequently diagnosed with a late dumping syndrome. On changing the feeds to a continuous infusion and by eliminating added sugar from the feeds, the glucose fluctuations resolved. Dumping syndrome is a well-known complication in adults undergoing gastric surgeries. In the paediatric age group, dumping syndrome has been reported rarely, most commonly as a complication of Nissen fundoplication.

Abstract:
Cases of baby battering have not been reported in Sri Lanka since 1811. Three such cases are reported in this paper. Their ages varied from 3 months to 1 year 4 months. In one case the assailant appeared to be the elder sister aged 4 years. In the other two cases the assailant appeared to be one of the parents. As in the other reported cases, all three children have been well cared for. The predominant lesions were skin bruises, fractures of limb bones and epiphyseal dislocations. The machinery available to the medical practitioner after confirmation of the diagnosis are discussed. The reasons for the lack of awareness of medical officers and its uncommonness due to the extended family system in Sri Lanka are also discussed. The stresses and strains imposed by rapid development and progressive urbanization of the villages are also discussed. It is envisaged that with the present trend of modernization in Sri Lanka there will be a greater number of Battered Baby Syndromes.

Abstract:
Chondrodysplasia punctata is abnormal calcification in the cartilage of developing bones and has been seen in association with deranged vitamin K metabolism. Warfarin, an oral anticoagulant acting on vitamin K dependent clotting factors is known to cause chondrodysplasia punctata. Despite the knowledge of the condition the management of patients with prosthetic heart valves might require use of the drug for anticoagulation. Here, we present a case of a fetal warfarin syndrome in a second born child of a 27 year lady under warfarin for prosthetic heart valve. The pregnancy was complicated by polyhydramnios in third trimester and terminated at term by normal vaginal delivery. The baby was well, except for facial dysmorphism in the form of depressed nasal bridge, narrow nares and suspected left choanal atresia. Radiograph revealed stippled ephiphysis of vertebra, femora and humera supporting diagnosis of fetal warfarin syndrome. The baby did not develop any perinatal complication and was discharged home.

Abstract:
Abstract With the purpose of understanding the psychological and relational meanings of the experience of motherhood in the face of toxoplasmosis, a clinical-qualitative study was carried out performing semi-directed interviews with five mothers of babies with toxoplasmosis. The information was submitted to Content Analysis, and the results demonstrated that the psychological meanings include both the presence of difficulties and suffering and the potentiality of the babies and the establishment of emotional mother-baby bonds. Relative to the relational meanings, the importance of support networks was identified, emphasizing the role of family members, health services, and religiosity as sources of support in facing difficulties. However, it was identified that the care is provided primordially to the babies, with the emotional assistance to mothers being insufficient. In conclusion, it stands out that each mother experienced toxoplasmosis from their possibilities and available support network, which affected the establishment of the mother-baby bond.

Abstract:
Objective: To determine the lowest effective bolus dose of oxytocin to produce adequate uterine tone during elective caesarean delivery avoiding side effects. Study design and setting: A study was conducted at Rawal General and Dental Hospital, from 10th Oct, 2018 to 27th May, 2019. Methodology: Patients undergoing elective cesarean spinal delivery were randomly divided by computer generated numbers(n=155) into 5 groups A, B, C, D and E receiving 0.5, 1, 3, 5 and 10 units of injection oxytocin as bolus respectively after delivery of baby. Uterine contraction was assessed by gynecologist by manual palpation of uterus on a linear scale. Value of 8 was considered adequate and 8 inadequate uterine tone respectively. Heart rate, non-invasive blood pressure and oxygen saturation were noted before and after oxytocin bolus. All patients received oxytocin infusion. The primary outcome measure was the assessment of uterine tone at 2 minute of oxytocin bolus. The secondary outcome variables included shortness of breath, chest discomfort, top-up bolus administered, hemodynamic variables, epigastric discomfort and oxytocin related effects (tachycardia, epigastric discomfort and hypotension). Results: The use of 5 units oxytocin (group-D) showed most optimal uterine contractions, 61.3% in comparison to commonly used 10 units bolus dose (group-E) 48.4% with minimal side effects like, less tachycardia(12.9% versus 72.9%) and hypotension (12.9% versus 32.3%), no top-up bolus dose was required in 54.8% cases and no complain of epigastric discomfort was observed. Conclusion: Low doses of oxytocin are effective in terms of uterine contraction with minimal side effects

Abstract:
The strength of binding between the Helicobacter pylori blood group antigen-binding adhesin (BabA) and its cognate glycan receptor, the Lewis b blood group antigen (Le b ), was measured by means of atomic force microscopy. High-resolution measurements of rupture forces between single receptor–ligand pairs were performed between the purified BabA and immobilized Le b structures on self-assembled monolayers. Dynamic force spectroscopy revealed two similar but statistically different bond populations. These findings suggest that the BabA may form different adhesive attachments to the gastric mucosa in ways that enhance the efficiency and stability of bacterial adhesion.

Abstract:
With shrinking resources and declining federal transfers, provincial governments across Canada are forced to provide increased levels of supports to vulnerable individuals with decreasing resources (Janssen & Estevez, 2013). Governments continue to face obstacles in meeting the needs of vulnerable populations such as children, single parents, and those who are homeless, to name a few. Manitoba, for instance, faces demographic challenges related to an influx of newcomers who are seeking refuge, resettlement, and housing supports, an aging baby boomer population that will need end-of-life supports, as well as a growing number of children in government care. Instead of funding programs based on their activities and outcomes, this paper presents outcomes-based financing, such as the social impact bond, that reward service providers who are able to demonstrate proof of outcomes and can show how the intervention improved the lives of the individuals it was meant to serve. Under a social impact bond, government engages non-traditional partners in the private and non-for-profit sectors, and the community as a whole becomes part of the solution to challenging social problems.
