Full textWithin the framework of the study of written discourse, we have studied the development of argumentative discourse among 12 to 18 years old adolescents at shool. We have used the interest for detective novels and we have asked the subjects to explain why, among a list of clues, someone seemed more guilty than others. The objects of discourse i. E. The clues, the expression of logical relations and modalisation have been taken in account. They allow to evaluate each text as to the part of narration, description or argumentation. It appears that adolescents are not necessarily able to go beyond narration when setting up argumentative discourses ; but, when they have received specific teaching, and especially the youngest, they seem to argument more efficiently. In fact, most of their difficulties probably lay in the way they use and construct the significance of the objects of discourse

Full textThe starting-points are the author's reading of the problematic posed by raymond radiguet (1903-1923) and a setting-out of six clinical illustrations taken from her practice of clinical psychology. The author explores this as yet unexploited data on writing and creation in adolescence. Her research focuses on: -the economic dimension of writing and the blockages in adolescent subjectivization. -the bodily dimension and the meaning of the search for certain environnemental modes necessary to the adolescent for the act of writing. -the narcissistic dimension and the transformation of the destination of idealization and sublimation particulary evident in post-adolescence

Full textThe developmental impacts of childhood maltreatment are widely documented in scientific literature. On the cognitive level, some children are found to be hypervigilant in regards to signals associated with a potential danger, which can lead to a privileged allocation of attention toward those stimuli. Such an attentional bias allows a quick threat detection in order to adapt oneself in an adverse environment. It can, in turn, unnecessarily capture attention in a security context. However, the actual state of knowledge remains limited regarding the manifestation of this phenomenon during the juvenile period more specifically. Therefore, the aim of the present thesis is to verify whether an attentional bias towards threatening stimuli persists among adolescents who have experienced maltreatment. 79 adolescents (48 girls) aged 12 to 17 are recruited in the Quebec City region to form a group of 39 youths who have a history of maltreatment and a comparative group of 40 teenage controls. They perform an attentional blink (AB) task which measure the correct identification of characteristics from target faces (T1 and T2) introduced into a rapid serial presentation of neutral faces. In line with the hypothesis that task-relevant threatening stimuli should have a facilitating effect on performance, a first empirical chapter shows that an angry T2, presented in a resource-constrained situation, appears to automatically redirect attention to the stimulus. This attentional capture effect then takes the form of a cognitive competence in the two groups of adolescents. On the other hand, a threatening expression that is not relevant to process - as when identifying the gender of an angry T1 is rather required - seems to divert attention from the other characteristics of this stimulus. Under these circumstances, attentional capture results in a cognitive difficulty that impedes the processing of the targeted information for all participants. The undifferentiated results between groups mainly point out the absence of attentional bias specific to participants exposed to maltreatment. A second empirical chapter thus proposes a quantitative approach allowing to test the existence of an attentional bias differently while deepening comprehension of the AB task data. Parameters based on the Signal Detection Theory reveal that adolescents of the maltreatment group are more likely to report having seen a T2 when it was in fact absent in comparison with the control group. Such a tendency is accompanied by a decision-making strategy of a more liberal nature than participants not exposed to maltreatment, which is effectively known to increase susceptibility to false alarm errors or the number of incidental detections. Nevertheless, these almost significant differences between groups remain independent of the negative valence of previously treated T1, thus confirming the absence of attentional bias among the adolescents who experienced maltreatment. This being, exploratory correlations with the psychiatric symptoms scales of the Child Behavior Checklist open up on some clinical elements to v consider with regard to the results, notably participants' level of impulsivity/inhibition. The thesis conclusions imply a possible extinction of the threat-related attentional bias observed among children with a history of maltreatment. Impacts of this discovery are integrated with knowledge about the maturation of cognitive and behavioral regulatory mechanisms during puberty. A processoriented evaluation approach is encouraged with a view of enhancing clinical benefits from experimental research.

Full textThis thesis articulates around a monograph. In a first time, the course that drove to research is exposed, followed by the methodological and theoretical reasons of the choice. It is about understanding the role of past and present pictures in the construction of the identity. The formulated hypothesis is that the construction of identity implies pore and more between immediate identification reference marks (relations neighnouring, family story, anecdotes) and the mediatized identification reference marks (tales, narrations, photos, movies), the vivid and resonant universes. What conscious and unconscious work can an individual produce in relation to these universes ? What joints take place with his own vivid and resonant mental productions ? These questions guide the survey made from the narration for a young man, Richard, descended of working families, in the Pays Haut lorrain (North East of France). The choice of the place and the individual rests on the established fact of a reference mark distress in this sector of industrial culture, immigration and social movments. The new generations tempt to rebuilt this inheritance by the slant of the movies and the audiovisual. The cartoon Goldorak marked his childhood, playing the role of an envelope allowing him to face the changes of adolescence and the separation of his parents. The grandmother's narrations, objects of the great grandfather contributed to the enrollment in the maternal lineage. He is taken in the father's quest, and his entrance in the paternal lineage occurs through the belonging to a gang. It's the writing of a movie script in which he is the character of Rambo that allows him to move away from this painful period of his life. His entrance in the youth center, his meeting with his girlfriend, the collective realization of a movie youngsters in the city make step on the side of sociolazing non-identifying activities, in the sens meantby G. Mendel (1995). The theoretical credentials on identification are inspired of Freud reread by J. Florence, those on the enrollment in the lineage by F. Hurstel. The theoretical credentials on pictures are essentially borrowed to S. Tisseron

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to study possible psychopathological features of amblyope adolescents put into care into homes. The study concerns the relationship between the researcher psychologist and the young amblyope and is treated at two level : an approach to the psychological behaviour of the adolescent put into care : a socioculturel approach. One conception : "the organic amblyopia", one concept : "adolescence", are delimited with reference to the last twenty years' theories. By regarding the amblyope's visual deficiency, not as a handicap but as a way of being, amblyopia is considered as " a certain way of seeing" and the amblyope adolescent as "a certain way of being". The development of this chain of thougt both documentary and bibvliographical analysis leads to the following hypothesis : "there is no specific psychopathology of the amblyope adolescent taken into care, due solely to amblyopia". This hypothesis is built up by use of a approach consisting of questionaries and interviews and is made more accurate by clinical study of several cases. The links between the effects organic amblyopia and the building up of an image of the sexed body during
