Autopoiesis attempts to provide an operational definition of living systems regardless of the actual form a system takes. One of the key claims of autopoiesis is that a concept of teleology is not needed to explain what it is to be living. In this dissertation I contend that the theory of autopoiesis sets up an impoverished conception of teleology against which to argue and that, partly as a result, autopoiesis is not a fully-coherent concept. I show that the theory of autopoiesis in fact requires living things to have an immanent teleology and that there is consequently a significant convergence between a theory of autopoiesis thus amended, Aristotelian physics — especially as it concerns Aristotle’s concept of δύναμις (dunamis) — and Spinoza’s concept of conatus. I then take this convergence and show how it is relevant to an understanding of contemporary environmental ethics.
After an exegesis of the concept of autopoiesis I demonstrate that the concept can be expressed in terms of Aristotle’s δύναμις; and that Spinoza’s concept of conatus owes a major debt to Aristotle in general and to the concept of δύναμις; in particular. Having established that autopoiesis and conatus can be expressed in terms of δύναμις, I examine some theories of environmental ethics in which the presence of autopoiesis or conatus, specifically, or immanent teleology, generally, are considered to be morally relevant properties and in which those things possessing these properties are morally-considerable. I then develop my own (Aristotelian) environmental ethic in which moral agents are faced with a moral imperative to take responsibility for all things which possess an immanent teleology.

Nietzsche e outros pensadores, que o tomaram como referência para pensar filosoficamente
possibilidades de uma aprendizagem voltada para fazer da vida uma obra de arte. A questão
problematizada é como esta aprendizagem pode ocorrer de modo cada vez mais autônomo
configurando uma arte de viver direcionada para a poetização da existência. A auto-educação
é pensada como parte de uma autopoiesis, um processo de subjetivação mais abrangente
quanto aos aspectos da existência em que a aprendizagem é experimentada no sentido
proposto por Nietzsche para fazer da vida uma obra de arte, tornando-se poeta da própria
existência e tomando o corpo como fio condutor desse processo.
A perspectiva de Nietzsche é considerada juntamente com algumas outras que se
apropriaram dela para formularem suas próprias concepções, tais como, principalmente:
Oswald de Andrade, pela Antropofagia como visão de mundo voltada para a apropriação
seletiva da alteridade subjetiva; Martin Heidegger, pela hermenêutica do acontecimento
apropriativo na criação poética; Michel Foucault, pela genealogia dos processos de
subjetivação, abrangendo desde a antiguidade greco-romana até a contemporaneidade, que o
permitiu formular a questão da estética da existência; Gilles Deleuze e Felix Guattari, pela
cartografia da autopoiesis como processo de subjetivação singularizante, modulado por
paradigmas estéticos apropriados; e Dante Galeffi, pela proposta poemático-pedagógica de
uma educação transdisciplinar para o fazer inventivo do ser-sendo, que configura a vita
poemática.
Essas e outras perspectivas foram usadas para elaborar a proposta de uma educação
autopoiética do corpo criador que Nietzsche indicou como o ser próprio, e foi denominado
nesta tese de corpoema. A educação autopoiética do corpoema é pensada ao longo da
experimentação da autopoiesis em alguns campos da existência, nos quais se constitui a
estética da existência corpoética: os campos de experimentação da habitação do espaço de
vida, da dinâmica corporal dos impulsos, das relações de poder, das valorações afetivas, das
linguagens de expressão e da compreensão dos sentidos do viver.
Em cada um desses campos, são consideradas tendências vitais a serem apropriadas e
dificuldades a serem superadas para a composição de um estilo singular na arte de viver
corpoética, voltada para a poetização do corpo e incorporação da poesia. Assim, quanto à
experiência da habitação, as tendências voltadas para o local e o global; quanto à
corporeidade, as tendências dos impulsos eróticos e fraternos; quanto às relações de poder, as
tendências para a emancipação e para a solidariedade; quanto à afetividade, as tendências para
a dignidade ética e para a intensidade passional; quanto à expressividade, as tendências para a
linguagem figurada e para o discurso conceitual; quanto à experiência da compreensão, as
tendências para o aprofundamento e para a abrangência.
A autopoiesis do corpoema é, portanto, apresentada transversalmente numa
cartografia genealógica do processo de subjetivação constituído por essas experimentações,
guiadas pelas perspectivas consideradas, no sentido de configurar um estilo corpoéticopara essa estética da existência autopoiética.<br>ABSTRACT The question of self-education is approached from the perspective of Friedrich
Nietzsche and other authors, who took him as reference to think philosophically the
possibilities of a learning whose objective is to make life a work of art. The problematized
question is how this apprenticeship may occur in a more autonomous way configurating an art
of living directed to the poeticization of existence. Self-education is thought as part of an
autopoiesis, a widely process of subjectification that includes some aspects of existence in
which the apprenticeship is experimented according to Nietzsche‟s proposal to make life a
work of art, becoming the poet of one‟s own existence and considering the body as a
conducting thread of this process.
Nietzsche‟s perspective is considered together with some others which appropriated
his ideas to formulate their own conceptions, like, mainly: Oswald de Andrade, for his
Anthropophagic world vision turned to a selective appropriation of a subjective otherness;
Martin Heidegger, for his hermeneutics of the appropriative happening in poetry creation;
Michel Foucault, for his genealogy of subjectification processes, including since greco-roman
antiquity until contemporaneity, which allowed him to formulate the question of the esthetics
of existence; Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, for their cartography of autopoiesis as a
singularizing subjectification process, modulated by proper esthetical paradigms; and Dante
Galeffi, for his poematic-pedagogical proposal of a transdisciplinary education for an
inventive producing of being, which configurates the poematic vita.
These and other perspectives were used to elaborate the proposal of an autopoietic
education of the creator body that Nietzsche considered as the self, and is named in this thesis
as corpoema. The autopoietic education of corpoemais thought along the experimentation of
autopoiesisin some spheres of existence, in which the esthetics of existence of corpoemais
constituted. They are the spheres of experimentation of: vital space occupation, body‟s
dynamic of impulses, power relations, affective evaluations, languages of expression, and
comprehension of living meanings.
In each of these spheres, vital tendencies to be appropriated and difficulties to be
overcomed are considered to compose a singular style of corpoema‟s art of living, turning to
poeticization of the body and embodiment of poetry. Therefore, concerning the habitation
experience, the tendencies for local and global; concerning the body experience, the
tendencies for erotic and fraternal impulses; concerning the power relations, the tendencies for
emancipation and solidarity; concerning affectivity, the tendencies for ethical dignity and for
passional intensity; concerning expressivity, the tendencies for figurative languages and for
conceptual discourse; concerning comprehension, the tendencies for deepening and for
expanding.
Corpoema‟s autopoiesis isthus presented transversally in a genealogical cartography
of the subjectification process constituted by these experimentations, guided by the
considered perspectives, in the way of seting the corpoema‟s style for this autopoietic
esthetics of existence.

Det senmoderna samhällets komplexitet och höggradiga differentiering har gjort risker alltmer svåranalyserade, vilket har lett till att sociala system måste ha en förändringsförmåga för att överleva. Det normala riskanalysarbetet i sociala system (exempelvis företag och organisationer) görs på den nivå eller i de interna sektorer där riskerna slår igenom. Uppsatsen ger exempel på befintliga riskhanteringsmodeller för detta och presenterar författarens egen, mer övergripande modell, konstruerad utifrån de tre systemteoretiska begreppen AGIL, autopoiesis och feedback loops. Modellen illustrerar en dialog mellan systemets definitioner, behov och omvärld samt andra system. Uppsatssyftet är att belysa sociala systems förändringsförmåga och beredskap för riskhantering samt hur de genom att använda modellen kan förbättra dessa. Uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie av sociologisk systemteori (funktionalism) och den framlagda modellen är på grund av abstraktionsnivån behäftad med problem rörande den praktiska tillämpningen.

Este estudo tem por objetivo problematizar o conceito de autonomia na micropolítica dos encontros vivos dos dispositivos de saúde mental do SUS. A aposta é dar visibilidade e dizibildade a fabricação de saúde que afirmem as redes de conexões existenciais singulares dos usuários na rede de atenção psicossocial, utilizando a noção de autonomia como analisador. Essa problematização retoma a importância do caráter criativo do movimento da luta antimanicomial nos fazeres e saberes da organização do trabalho em saúde mental que busquem afirmar o usuário como interlocutor valido na produção de sua vida. O conceito de autonomia utilizado nesse trabalho é fruto da intersecção entre os estudos de Maturana e Varela que consideram que a produção da vida biológica ocorre de maneira autônoma, autorreferente e autopoiética e Espinosa, filósofo que discorreu sobre a ética cujo movimento da vida acontece por meio do afetar e ser afetado, possibilitando a singularização dos modos de ser. Além desse três intelectuais, o presente trabalho assenta-se nas produções de Deleuze, Guattari e Rolnik, no que tange, sobretudo, os subsídios da vivência cartográfica da pesquisa. A realização desse trabalho é fruto da articulação entre a teoria e a pesquisa de campo realizada junto aos dispositivos de saúde mental<br>This study has the objective of problematize the concept of autonomy on the micropolitics of the living encounters of mental health devices on SUS (Unified Health System). The aim is to give visibility and readability for the health manufacturing that affirms the singularity of existential networks among the users of the psychosocial attention network, employing the concept of autonomy as analytic criteria. This way of addressing the problem restores the importance of the creative characteristic of the antimanicomial movement on the practices and knowledges of mental health work organization that seeks to affirm the user as a valid agent in his life management. The concept of autonomy employed in this research comes from the intersection of the works of Maturana and Varela which considers that the biological life occurs on an autonomic manner, self-referential and autopoietic and Espinosa, philosopher that pondered about the ethic in which life movement happens by the affect and be affected, allowing the singularization of the ways of being. Further than those intellectuals, this paper anchors its assumptions on the works of Deleuze, Guatarri and Rolnik, especially which refers to the subsides of the cartographic research experience. The purpose of this research was to give knowledge management a sound conceptual foundation; this was done in three stages. First, the current domain of autopoiesis and knowledge management was explored with a particular focus on reasons for the research and the different approaches used. There was general agreement that knowledge management does need a theoretical foundation and that, currently, knowledge management uses only certain aspects of autopoiesis along with very little empirical work. The second phase of this research was to take an existing model, a model of organisational learning, from the literature and apply to it the principles from autopoiesis. This was done using a matching methodology: a two step process used to align the theories from two or more domains with the aim of creating a new lexis. The resulting autopoietic model of organisational learning was tested in two organisations: Prosidion and the Conservation Services Group. The third phase of this research was to create a model of knowledge that was true to an autopoietic epistemology for evaluation by a range of knowledge management experts from both academia and industry. The main finding from this research was that autopoiesis has the potential to become the theoretical foundation for knowledge management, but further research is required to enhance the usability of the foundation. Principles from autopoiesis can be applied to existing models, with some measurable benefit, but that the true contribution from autopoiesis will be the development of the autopoietic model of knowledge into a tangible, more useable product. This research makes several unique contributions to the field of knowledge management and autopoiesis. First, the creation of the autopoietic models of organisational learning and knowledge, and second, the development of test/evaluation instruments. Finally, the actual results and their analysis provide a new insight into the challenges of giving knowledge management a theoretical foundation.

Previous issue date: 2017-06-09<br>Just as in nature what is here characterized as quantum critic represents the infinite or instantaneous speed between phase changes, the foundation of science lies in the quantum critic of the transition from scholastic thought free from algebra to modern, fully mastered thinking through mathematical symbology. In medieval scholasticism we see a point of transmutation within a process of seeking the unification of geometry and arithmetic, or more commonly, of philosophy and science. Now we are about to hit another quantum critic, by the exponential development of technology, which is often enthusiastically referred to as a "singularity" when we need to look at the risks of programming machines to replace with immeasurable advantage its programmers, becoming autopoietic, as life, and hence perhaps compete with us, as it happens in nature. It is when the results of "technical transmutation" proliferate, giving rise to the emergence of autopoietic social systems, as described by the German sociologist Niklas Luhmann, from the notion proposed in biology of knowledge by authors such as Chilean Humberto R. Maturana, which are imposed on humans, even if it is for them a condition of possibility of their existence, for by a recursive mechanism, autologically explicable (Heinz von Foerster), positions are reversed, systems becoming a condition of social existence for us humans since we know of no other way of existing than socially. The present difficulty of communication, bordering impossibility, since it grows inexorably and exponentially in the society developed from it, like the entropy in any physical system, has been causing ever greater problems to the life that depends on it, that of us humans. Such a crisis of the systems of meaning, in order to be overcome, requires that the generalized disagreement now in force be recognized, to be reversed by a reprisal of words worn by the unceasingly contested use, so that new or renewed words may arise which is needed, to regain faith in the very possibility of communication. And this is a faith in our ability to communicate, despite the electronic prosthesis that proliferates, giving the false impression of coming to our aid, and in fact helps, but with that reinforce our fundamental disbelief in that capacity, in ourselves, since there is no god left to secure it. Stills there is the hope that inspires us such authors as Vilém Flusser, in a convergence between the arts, sciences and techniques, that could allow us to once again go beyond the limits of an improbability to remain as species, due to a "passage through the poetic" (Heidegger)<br>Da mesma forma que na natureza o que vem aqui caracterizado como quantum critic representa o infinitésimo ou velocidade instantânea entre as mudanças de fase, a fundamentação da ciência se encontra no quantum critic da transição do pensamento escolástico livre da álgebra para o pensamento moderno, totalmente dominado pela simbologia matemática. Na escolástica medieval verificamos um ponto de transmutação dentro de um processo de busca da unificação da geometria e da aritmética, ou mais vulgarmente, da filosofia e da ciência. Agora, estaríamos prestes a atingir um outro, pelo desenvolvimento exponencial da tecnologia, ao qual se vem referindo, em geral de maneira entusiasta, como uma “singularidade”, quando precisamos atentar para os riscos de estarmos programando máquinas para substituírem com incomensurável vantagem seus programadores, tornando-se autopoiéticas, como a vida, e daí quem sabe entrem em competição conosco, tal como soe acontecer na natureza. É quando proliferam os resultados da “transmutação técnica”, dando ensejo ao aparecimento de sistemas sociais autopoiéticos, tal como descritos pelo sociólogo alemão Niklas Luhmann, a partir da noção proposta em biologia do conhecimento por autores como o chileno Humberto R. Maturana, que se impõem aos humanos, mesmo sendo para eles uma condição de possibilidade de sua existência, mas que deles prescindem, pois por um mecanismo recursivo, explicável autologicamente (Heinz von Foerster) invertem-se as posições, tornando-se os sistemas também condição de existência, social, de nós humanos: não conhecemos outro modo de existir que não socialmente. A dificuldade de comunicação, beirando a impossibilidade, visto que cresce inexorável e exponencialmente na sociedade desenvolvida a partir dela, e como a entropia em qualquer sistema físico, vem causando problemas cada vez maiores à vida que dela depende, a de nós, humanos. Tal crise dos regimes de sentido, a fim de ser superada, requer que se reconheça o desentendimento generalizado ora vigente, a ser revertido por uma repristinação de palavras desgastadas pelo uso incessantemente contestado, para que possam surgir as palavras novas, ou renovadas, de que tanto se necessita, para recuperar a fé na possibilidade mesma da comunicação. E esta é uma fé na nossa capacidade de nos comunicarmos, apesar das próteses eletrônicas que proliferam, dando a falsa impressão de virem em nosso auxílio, e de fato auxiliam, mas com isso reforçam nossa descrença fundamental naquela capacidade, em nós mesmos, desde que não há mais nenhum deus para afiançá-la. Resta a esperança, que nos incute autores como Vilém Flusser, em uma convergência entre as artes, ciências e técnicas, que nos permita ainda uma vez saltar além do limite da improbabilidade de permanecermos enquanto espécie, graças a uma “passagem pelo poético” (Heidegger)

This thesis examines the transformative impact of the immune network theory on theoretical immunology, especially how immunity has been understood and described metaphorically in the scholarship. The immune system had been conventionally couched in warfare rhetoric. At the end of the nineteenth century, Russian scientist and pathologist Elie Metchnikoff depicted pathogens as savages in the theory of phagocytosis, which, he postulated, the body must destroy with equal ferocity. Virologist Frank Burnet further affirmed this concept in 1957. In the Clonal Selection Theory, he articulated the model of self and non-self discrimination, thus giving rise to the idea of the immune system as a defense and attack system. In 1979, Francisco Varela and Nelson Vaz proposed that the immune system should be considered instead as a network in “Self and Non-Sense.” At the heart of their theory was the notion of self-determination that emphasized the goal of the immune system was to maintain the autonomy and individuality of the organism. This non-martial interpretation was rooted in the theory of autopoiesis, whose conceptualization was greatly influenced by Varela’s experiences of the political and social chaos in Chile during the Allende regime and the Pinochet dictatorship. I will explore the extent to which Varela’s immune theory was a political critique of the condition of his homeland, and beyond that, the ideological hostility that divided the world between capitalism and communist in the post-1954 era. Further, the importance of the whole of the organism was also reiterated in his theory, and the experimental techniques Varela designed to examine this quality have been applied to research fields such as computer sciences and artificial intelligences. Therefore, the immune network theory is not only creating a paradigm shift in immunology, but also bringing about revolutionary changes in other disciplines.

Previous issue date: 2011<br>Resumo: Busca-se a partir de uma análise no interior da teoria marxiana compreender como se constituí a visão de Marx a respeito da liberdade. A partir de referências aparentemente paradoxais sobre esta questão encontra-se um vínculo muito forte entre liberdade e a capacidade humana autopoiética, ou seja, na capacidade do homem engendrar-se e construir-se a si mesmo no processo histórico. Esta visão, que marca uma forma materialista e histórica de um humanismo se encontra consolidada não somente nos textos chamados de juventude de Marx, mas igualmente nas obras tardias. A partir destas obras, mesmo em seu mergulho nas questões mais propriamente econômicas, percebe a consolidação de uma visão ontológica fundada na atividade da produção e reprodução humana, pela qual o homem não perde o vínculo inicial autopoiético, mas ao contrário, refunda-o sobre novas bases. Estas bases e forças engendradas pela história são capazes, finalmente, de promover um salto na capacidade humana de se autoconstruir com abundância e, mediada por uma alta cientificidade e com o fim do antagonismo indivíduo e gênero, na qual o desenvolvimento individual passa a ser fundamento desta nova base produtiva, ainda que apenas dado em potência nas sociedades de classe<br>Abstract: From an analysis in the interior of Marxian theory, this works aims at understanding how Marx's conception of freedom is built. From apparently paradoxical references about this question, there is a strong bond between freedom and human autopoiesis capacity, that is, on man's capacity of self-engendering and self-building during the historical process. This vision, which marks a materialist and historical form of humanism, is found not only in young Marx's texts, but likewise in late works. From these works, even in his immersion in questions that are more properly economic, he perceives the consolidation of an ontological vision based on the activity of human production and reproduction, whereby man doesn't lose his initial autopoiesis bond, but on the contrary, he reestablishes it on new bases. Previous issue date: 2008<br>Resumo: Segundo Humberto Maturana, na história da biologia, por vezes se ressaltou o indivíduo em detrimento da espécie e por outras, a espécie em detrimento do indivíduo. Sua proposta teórica de legitimar a espécie e o indivíduo ao mesmo tempo, que se origina no conceito de autopoiesis, é o que pretendo aprofundar neste trabalho, por intermédio do estudo das idéias que estão na base de sua teoria, a Biologia do Conhecer. Seguindo os fundamentos conceituais da Biologia do Conhecer tratarei, portanto, dos dois domínios operacionais da existência dos seres vivos. O primeiro, o domínio da dinâmica estrutural interna, da identidade do ser que conhece e onde acontece a autopoiesis, e o segundo, o da dinâmica relacional, onde existimos propriamente como seres vivos na realização de nosso viver em interações recorrentes. No tratamento do segundo domínio poderemos, então, especificar o que constitui a possibilidade de diálogo com o autor, já que trataremos da dinâmica dos seres humanos, que vivem imersos na linguagem<br>Abstract: According to Humberto Maturana, within the history of biology, at times, the individual is given more prominence than the species; at others, the species is given more than the individual. Maturana.s theoretical proposition of simultaneously legitimizing both the species and the individual, which is at the root of the autopoiesis concept, is what I intend to investigate, by studying the ideas that lay the groundwork for his theory: the Biology of Cognition. By uncovering the conceptual foundations of the Biology of Cognition, I shall, therefore, explore the two operational domains of existence of living organisms: the first domain of the internal structural dynamic, of the identity of the being that knows and where autopoiesis occurs; and the second domain of the relational dynamic, where we effectively exist as living beings in the fulfillment of our living within recursive interactions. A comunicação gerada nos Weblogs é caracterizada pelo seu aspecto de fácil publicação e acesso e apropriação por qualquer indivíduo que tem acesso a ferramenta, sendo assim necessário perceber a forma que a ciência tem sido divulgada na blogosfera, identificando seu alcance diante de outros pesquisadores e dos visitantes não letrados cientificamente. Essa pesquisa de método indutivo e de objetivo exploratório adotou como objeto de estudo o Scienceblogs Brasil, condomínio de blogs de ciência formado por blogueiros brasileiros. A proposta teórica da pesquisa fundamentou os blogs a partir do conceito de autopoiese proposto por Niklas Luhmann,
sendo o objeto tratado como um subsistema autopoiético da rede mundial de computadores, sendo esta última entendida como ambiente dos blogs. Para estudar as relações sociais que são formadas nos blogs de ciência, foi discutido e aplicado o conceito de capital cientifico de Pierre Bordieu, identificando-o nos processos relacionais existentes entre blogueiro e visitante desse espaço digital, no qual as informações de ciência são vistas como elemento que dá projeção ao trabalho do pesquisador. E ainda, para avaliar a qualidade das informações que são publicadas e circulam na blogosfera cientifica, foram adotados os critérios propostos por Tomáel at al, os quais identificam os elementos necessários para a confiabilidade das informações publicadas. As conclusões obtidas após a análise dos dados apontam a necessidade de se fazer uso da ferramenta em um formato colaborativo, de acordo com sua essência, apropriando-se ainda das possibilidades educativas pertencentes ao blog, no qual a ciência torna-se parte da realidade do visitante leigo nos temas publicados, cumprindo efetivamente a proposta de divulgação da ciência.

FundaÃÃo de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do CearÃ<br>O desenvolvimento da Ãrea de InteligÃncia Artificial (IA) trouxe grandes avanÃos para a resoluÃÃo de problemas computacionalmente difÃceis. No entanto, a meta inicial da IA, de implementaÃÃo de uma inteligÃncia genuÃna de forma artificial, ainda nÃo foi alcanÃada. Por isso, a grande maioria dos pesquisadores da Ãrea mudou o foco de suas pesquisas para resoluÃÃo de problemas, em geral abandonando a meta de uma inteligÃncia artificial. Para continuar perseguindo essa meta, outros pesquisadores passaram a questionar os princÃpios filosÃficos da IA e tomar novos rumos. Alguns deles perceberam que o processo da inteligÃncia nÃo à puramente mental. De acordo com essa nova visÃo, o corpo tem um papel fundamental no processo cognitivo. A partir desse ponto de vista, visando superar obstÃculos tradicionais da IA, surgiu a IA Corporificada. Esta tem uma forte tendÃncia a implementaÃÃo em robÃs, para se desenvolver um melhor projeto sobre o corpo.
PorÃm, apesar de ter obtido avanÃos em relaÃÃo a problema da IA tradicional, a IA Corporificada comeÃou a apresentar suas prÃprias limitaÃÃes. Surgiu entÃo a ideia de que um agente genuinamente inteligente deve formular seus prÃprios problemas a partir da percepÃÃo da realidade, construÃda em termo do seus aparato sensÃrio-motor. Em outras palavras, a inteligÃncia genuÃna està ligada à autonomia do agente. A IA Enativa surgiu influenciada por estudos biolÃgicos a respeito da autonomia. Este trabalho relata a trajetÃria da IA desde a sua fundaÃÃo, passando pela vertente da IA Corporificada, e apontando um possÃvel novo paradigma da IA Enativa. AlÃm disso, nÃs Analisamos e discutimos os processos que levaram pesquisadores a questionar o embasamento filosÃfico da IA e a formular novos conceitos a respeito do que à inteligÃncia.<br>The development in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field brought great improvement
to the resolution of computationally hard problems. However, the early goal of AI, of implementing
a genuine intelligence in an artificial way, was not achieved. Therefore most of the
fieldâs researchers changed their researchâs focus to problem resolution, quitting the goal of an
artificial intelligence. To keep pursuing that goal others researchers started questioning the philosophical
principles of AI and they took new routes. Some of them realized that the process of
intelligence is not purely mental. According to this new view the body has a fundamental role
in the cognitive process. From this point of view, aiming to overcome traditional obstacles of
AI, the Embodied AI emerged. It has a strong tendency to implementation in robots, to develop
a better design of the body.
Despite having achieved improvements over the problem of traditional AI, Embodied
AI started to present its own limitations. Then came the idea that a genuinely intelligent
agent must formulate its own problems from the perception of reality, constructed in terms of
their sensory-motor apparatus. In other words, the genuine intelligence is linked to the agentâs
autonomy. The Enactive AI appeared influenced by biological studies about autonomy. In this
AI field the goal is to build an autonomous artificial agent.
This paper reports the trajectory of AI since its foundation, through strand of Embodied
AI, and pointing to a possible new paradigm of Enactive AI. In addition, we analyse
and discuss the processes that led researchers to question the philosophical basis of IA and
formulate new concepts about what intelligence is.

La façon de formuler cette question nous demande de considérer la perception comme un phénomène historique; ce qui n'est pas évident si on considère qu'en termes généraux la société considère la perception comme une opération physiologique.Les sciences biologiques, afin de rendre compte de la perception, s’interrogent sur les processus chimio-biologiques qui se déroulent dans le système nerveux afin d’expliquer pourquoi les êtres vivants, en particulier l’homme, perçoivent leur environnement de la manière dont ils le fassent.D'autres disciplines, telles que la psychologie, s’intéressent à la question de savoir comment le phénomène chimio-biologique de la perception devient un état de conscience dans la psyché humaine.Finalement, ce sont les sciences sociales qui abordent la question de la perception avec une perspective spatio-temporelle. Sous cette considération, la question de laquelle part cette thèse doit être comprise de la façon suivante : comment pouvons-nous rendre compte de la perception de manière historique en tant que phénomène biologique, psychique et social?L'histoire que je propose est fondée sur l'étude de l'interaction dynamique que l'expérience psychique de la perception établit avec les domaines organiques et sociaux. Mon approche de la perception repose sur la théorie des systèmes sociaux. Fondée sur la théorie des systèmes, je comprends la perception comme l'opération effectuée par le système psychique et non pas par un sujet ou sa conscience.En conséquence, la perception est comprise ici comme une opération psychique encadrée par: 1) le présupposé d'un organisme qui, dans le sens le plus fondamental, établit les conditions de possibilité pour que la psyché perçoive et, dans un sens plus large, détermine les possibilités de la perception en fonction de l'évolution de sa structure -y compris les outils technologiques qui potentialisent la base de celles-ci-; en plus de 2) les paradigmes qui donnent un sens à l'acte de percevoir et à son contenu; ainsi que 3) les moyens de communication qui permettent la sociabilité des perceptions et qui, avec leur développement, ouvrent des nouvelles possibilités d’évolution pour la perception dans le contexte de l’émergence de nouveaux cadres épistémiques. The way in which we formulate this question requires considering perception as an historical phenomenon, which is not obvious if we think that, in general terms, society considers perception as a physiological operation.The biological sciences, in order to account for perception, studies the chemo-biological processes that take place in the nervous system in order to explain why living beings, in particular humans, perceive their environment in the way they do.Other disciplines, such as psychology, are interested in the question of how the chemo-biological phenomenon of perception becomes a state of consciousness in the human psyche.Finally, the social sciences approach the question of perception with a spatial and temporal perspective. For social sciences, it is the cultural context that determines the way men understand and signify the world, what in the terms of these disciplines we call ethos, mentality or episteme, to name just a few of the many concepts used.The difference between these disciplinary groups is such that, although the three are interested in the phenomenon of perception, each one does it so differently that what could be the same object of study, ends up being three different: an object of biological study, an object of psychic study and an object of sociocultural study.Although this thesis belongs to the field of social sciences, its objective is to study perception by considering it not only as an object of sociocultural study, but also as a psychical and biological one. Under this consideration, the question from which this thesis proceeds must be understood as follows: how can we historically describe perception as a biological, psychic and social phenomenon?The history I propose is based on the study of the dynamic interaction that the psychic experience of perception establishes with the organic and social domains. My approach to perception is based on the theory of social systems from witch I understand perception as the operation performed by the psychic system and not by a subject or his consciousness.Consequently, perception is understood here as a psychic operation framed by: 1) the presupposition of an organism which, in the most basic sense, establishes the conditions of possibility for the psyche to perceive and, in a broader sense, determines the possibilities of perception according to the evolution of its structure - including the technological tools that potentiate the basis of these; in addition to 2) the paradigms that give meaning to the act of perceiving and its content; as well as 3) the means of communication which allow the sociability of perceptions and which, with their development, open up new possibilities of evolution for perception in the context of the emergence of new epistemic frameworks. Since all these factors are related and change all over time, it is only by studying them together that it becomes possible to make a history of perception.As for the structure that follows our study, we begin by showing our theoretical and methodological principles. La historia que estoy proponiendo se funda en el estudio de la interacción dinámica que la experiencia psíquica de la percepción establece con los ámbitos orgánico y social. Mi aproximación a la percepción tiene por base la teoría de los sistemas sociales. Previous issue date: 2011-05-26<br>This work aims to explore two directions associated with the development of the philosophy of language that leaded to dissonant conceptions of philosophy of law: in one hand, the Wittgenstein s thought on the language and the world; on the other hand, Luhmann s theory grounded on his thesis of an operational rupture regarding man and communication in autopoietic systems. Right after an explanation over both perspectives and their reflects on law, it is outlined a dialogue based on Wittgenstein with Luhmann s theory, discussion which in the end shows that the theory of functional social systems has an insufficient explanation of the corruption phenomenon in result of the thesis concerning the operational opposition man/communication, and affirms that Wittgenstein s notions such as language-games and form of life are worthy ways to struggle with this question. To incorporate bioremedial functions into the performance of buildings and to balance generative architecture's dominant focus on computational programming and digital fabrication, this thesis first hybridizes theories of autopoiesis into extended cognition in order to research biological domains that include synthetic biology and biocomputation. Under the rubric of living technology I survey multidisciplinary fields to gather perspective for student design of bioremedial and/or metabolic components in generative architecture where generative not only denotes the use of computation but also includes biochemical, biomechanical, and metabolic functions. I trace computation and digital simulations back to Alan Turing's early 1950s Morphogenetic drawings, reaction-diffusion algorithms, and pioneering artificial intelligence (AI) in order to establish generative architecture's point of origin. I ask provocatively: Can buildings think? as a question echoing Turing's own "Can machines think?" Thereafter, I anticipate not only future bioperformative materials but also theories capable of underpinning strains of metabolic intelligences made possible via AI, synthetic biology, and living technology. I do not imply that metabolic architectural intelligence will be like human cognition. I suggest, rather, that new research and pedagogies involving the intelligence of bacteria, plants, synthetic biology, and algorithms define approaches that generative architecture should take in order to source new forms of autonomous life that will be deployable as corrective environmental interfaces. I call the research protocol autopoietic-extended design, theorizing it as an operating system (OS), a research methodology, and an app schematic for design studios and distance learning that makes use of in-field, e-, and m-learning technologies. A quest of this complexity requires scaffolding for coordinating theory-driven teaching with practice-oriented learning. Accordingly, I fuse Maturana and Varela's biological autopoiesis and its definitions of minimal biological life with Andy Clark's hypothesis of extended cognition and its cognition-to-environment linkages. I articulate a generative design strategy and student research method explained via architectural history interpreted from Louis Sullivan's 1924 pedagogical drawing system, Le Corbusier's Modernist pronouncements, and Greg Lynn's Animate Form. Thus, autopoietic-extended design organizes thinking about the generation of ideas for design prior to computational production and fabrication, necessitating a fresh relationship between nature/science/technology and design cognition. To systematize such a program requires the avoidance of simple binaries (mind/body, mind/nature) as well as the stationing of tool making, technology, and architecture within the ream of nature. Hence, I argue, in relation to extended phenotypes, plant-neurobiology, and recent genetic research: < Architecture = Nature > Consequently, autopoietic-extended design advances design protocols grounded in morphology, anatomy, cognition, biology, and technology in order to appropriate metabolic and intelligent properties for sensory/response duty in buildings. At m-learning levels smartphones, social media, and design apps source data from nature for students to mediate on-site research by extending 3D pedagogical reach into new university design programs. I intend the creation of a dialectical investigation of animal/human architecture and computational history augmented by theory relevant to current algorithmic design and fablab production. The autopoietic-extended design dialectic sets out ways to articulate opposition/differences outside the Cartesian either/or philosophy in order to prototype metabolic architecture, while dialectically maintaining: Buildings can think.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico<br>Assumindo uma leitura histórica descontinuísta do pensamento de Freud e privilegiando nele a dimensão pulsional do psíquico, as intensidades e os afetos, o presente trabalho busca demonstrar a ocorrência de uma operação criadora que a transferência faz comparecer no entre-dois do encontro clínico. O sentido de operação criadora aqui adotado encontra-se na idéia de autopoiese, uma idéia extraída da biologia contemporânea na qual identificamos afinidades significativas com o conceito freudiano de autoerotismo, o modo de operar originário das pulsões. Retomando este conceito seminal de Freud e fazendo-o dialogar com a autopoiese do vivo demonstrada por Humberto Maturana e Francisco Varela, visamos repensar o autoerotismo dentro da teoria das pulsões, concebendo-o como aquilo que define essencialmente a maquínica pulsional e que, como tal, perpetua-se no sujeito como uma operação criadora contínua. Se o autoerotismo é o infantil pré-individual, pré-narcísico, que em nós se perpetua, é na transferência que ele se repete, potencializando um plano intensivo de parcialidades multiformes mediante o qual a clínica pode ser concebida como um processo de criação de novas formas de si, de novas modalidades de existência para um sujeito.<br>Assuming a discontinuous historical reading of Freud's thought and favoring him to drive dimension of psychic intensities and affections, this paper seeks to demonstrate the occurrence of a creative operation that the transfer is between two people appear in the clinical encounter. The creative direction of operation adopted here is the idea of autopoiesis, an extracted idea of ​​contemporary biology in which we identified significant affinities with the Freudian concept of autoerotismo, the mode of operation of the originating impulses. The theory of autopoiesis (auto - self, poiesis - producing) suggests that a living system distinguishes itself from non-living matter by its ability to generate and maintain itself. With the increase in systems thinking and complexity science at the turn of the twenty-first century, this idea has been steadily gaining traction in fields as diverse as biology, the social sciences, law and architecture. The theory has been adopted most widely in the field of synthetic biology and chemistry where it provides a conceptual framework within which to understand the organisational logic of minimal living cells (protocells). The potential of autopoiesis to inform protocell research is dependent on a greater understanding of the organisational pathways that may lead to the formation of the most basic autopoietic systems. A computational study into the formation and persistence of proto-autopoietic organisations from simple, unstructured beginnings is reported here. Computer simulations show that unstructured populations of interacting finite state automata self-organise under different environmental conditions to robust, self-producing structures called niches. The criteria for an autopoietic system remains a contested issue in the field and, as such, these niches could not be deemed to be fully autopoietic although they did routinely demonstrate the critical processes of self-production and adaptation. Competition at the individual, networked and niche level operated on such processes and was responsible for the continuous transformation of the population's structure in response to changes in the environment. Such structural coupling ensured the maintenance of the organisational identity of the proto-autopoietic system - the hallmark of autopoiesis - which was enabled by the emergence of hierarchical, strongly connected and dynamically stable networks that proved resilient to major environmental perturbations. This work has tested the hypothesis that autopoietic systems can emerge from simple, unstructured beginnings. The research findings uphold this hypothesis, and several important features and properties of proto-autopoietic systems have also been reported. This research has shown that proto-autopoietic organisations are generated and maintained through competitive production processes and protocell researchers may wish to consider this in the design of their experimental strategies.

Det senmoderna samhällets komplexitet har gjort organisationers riskhantering till en viktig men svårstrukturerad aktivitet. I en förstudie (Sparf, 2004) har en riskhanteringsmetod utifrån sociologisk systemteori utarbetats (STRIM). I föreliggande uppsats är syftet dels att ge en bild av och exempel på hur riskhantering kan gå till i teori och praktik och dels att testa den empiriska giltigheten hos STRIM. De bakomliggande systemteorierna rekapituleras och därtill har teorier om riskhantering lagts. Den empiriska undersökningen har utgjorts främst av två intervjuomgångar med fem informanter i varje. Resultatet ger en fyllig bild av praktisk riskhantering, men uppfyller bara delvis prövningen av STRIM. Den viktigaste slutsatsen är att instrumentella och administrativa riskhanteringsmetoder respektive processer och enstaka insatser i praktiken har svårt att mötas. Dessa problem kan STRIM förmodligen bidra till att överbrygga genom skapandet av en gemensam nomenklatur.

Leadership is integral to the health and wellbeing of individuals and organisations. Relevant literature typically assumes a conception of leadership as ethical influence for good purpose, yet it is not always so. When exercised destructively, leadership has the potential to cause personal distress, group dysfunction and cultural fracture. Although some theoretical literature discusses such leadership, there are few empirical studies. This study applies autopoietic theory to explore the existence and impact of destructive leadership in school-related contexts and suggest possible prevention and intervention strategies. The research methodology used is phenomenography, which seeks to understand a phenomenon by defining variation in collective experience. Fifteen interviews were undertaken with leaders in school-related settings who identified with having past experience of leadership practices they defined as destructive. The purposive sample population was cross-sectoral and cross–school phase. The study is framed by three research questions which aim to identify the qualitatively different ways by which the phenomenon can be understood. The findings suggest that destructive leadership causes significant, lasting and pervasive harm to individuals and organisations; that it is exercised as power and control without adequate checks and balances; derives from personality dispositions, professional inadequacy or aberrant values; and impacts in personal, interpersonal or intrapersonal cycles, mediated or mitigated through individual or social conditions. Five contributions emerge: a phenomenographically-derived framework to analyse a dysfunctional social system; an autopoietically-derived interpretation of individual, organisation and ethical impact; reinforcing vicious and virtuous circles of control and trust; a theory of ‘dysergy’, whereby the sum of the parts of a dysfunctional system constitute a diminished whole; and a whole system approach to intervention. The theoretical implication of the study is of the potential for personal and organisational learning, while the practical implication is for the application of a whole system model of leadership.

Non-representational cognitive science is a promising research field that provides an alternative to the view of the brain as a “computer” filled with symbolic representations of the world and cognition as “calculations” performed on those symbols. Autopoiesis is a biological, bottom-up, non-representational theory of cognition, in which representations and meaning are framed as explanatory concepts that are constituted in an observer’s description of a cognitive system, not operational concepts in the system itself. One of the problems of autopoiesis, and all non-representational theories, is that they struggle with scaling up to high-level cognitive behaviour such as language. The Iterated Learning Model is a theory of language evolution that shows that certain features of language are explained not because of something happening in the linguistic agent’s brain, but as the product of the evolution of the linguistic system itself under the pressures of learnability and expressivity. Our goal in this work is to combine an autopoietic approach with the cultural transmission chains that the ILM uses, in order to provide the first step in an autopoietic explanation of the evolution of language. In order to do that, we introduce a simple, joint action physical task in which agents are rewarded for dancing around each other in either of two directions, left or right. The agents are simulated e-pucks, with continuous-time recurrent neural networks as nervous systems. First, we adapt a biologically plausible reinforcement learning algorithm based on spike-timing dependent plasticity tagging and dopamine reward signals. We show that, using this algorithm, our agents can successfully learn the left/right dancing task and examine how learning time influences the agents’ task success rates. Following that, we link individual learning episodes in cultural transmission chains and show that an expert agent’s initial behaviour is successfully transmitted in long chains. We investigate the conditions under which these transmission chains break down, as well as the emergence of behaviour in the absence of expert agents. By using long transmission chains, we look at the boundary conditions for the re-establishment of transmitted behaviour after chain breakdowns. Bringing all the above experiments together, we discuss their significance for non-representational cognitive science and draw some interesting parallels to existing Iterated Learning research; finally, we close by putting forward a number of ideas for additions and future research directions.

observing aspects related to repetition and uniqueness as part of the autopoetic performance;
knowing that the work is situated in a zone of no bondaries of postmodern or contemporary,
seeking to examine the literary composition procedures and the writing that make it a war
machine in the Deleuze - Guattari sayings. The contemporary work is rhizomatic, desiring
machine, boddy whithout organs, deterritoriality in flux. As this machine‟s assumptions, we
have the decentralization, the desubjectivity, the dereference and the nonsense. In this work,
nothing else will hold us back to the meaning and significant‟s meshes.Knowledge known only
by those who mobilize affections and who vibrate through madness, from emptiness and
animality: the art‟s signs. The work of art here is an uniqueness instance and repetition;
subjectivation artifice. Uniqueness is an affirmative because it is also becoming (devir);
Becoming (Devir) as a process connected to repetition that decentralizes the being, through a
disjunctive synthesis, in a way that it will not be spoken about the totality of the being and the
work, but in totalities. There is no more paternity, neither origin, nor destiny because in this
work, the sign-art becomes a nomad in the desert. Cartographing this nomadism in the
Kalahari‟s autopoiesis is to walk as a wanderer, by Blanchotiano‟s „outside‟, being
deterritorialized and reterritorialized; becoming a writer-reader for himself, for the world,
for life.<br>O presente trabalho tem por objeto analisar a obra Kalahari, do poeta português Luis
Serguilha, observando aspectos relacionados à repetição e à singularidade como parte
da performance autopoiética; sabendo que a obra se situa numa zona de deslimites do pósmoderno
ou contemporâneo, buscamos examinar os procedimentos de composição literária e
da escritura que a tornam uma máquina de guerra nos dizeres deleuze-guattarianos. A obra
contemporânea é rizomática, máquina desejante, corpo sem órgãos, desterritorialidade em
fluxo. Como pressupostos dessa máquina, temos o descentramento, a dessubjetividade, a
desreferencialização e o nonsense. Nela, nada mais nos prenderá às malhas do significado ou
significante. Saberes somente aqueles que mobilizem os afectos e que fazem vibrar por meio
da loucura, do vazio e da animalidade: os signos da arte. A obra de arte aqui é uma instância
de singularidade e de repetição; artifício de subjetivações. Singularidade é uma afirmatividade
porque é também devir; devir como processo ligado à repetição que descentraliza o ser, por
meio de uma síntese disjuntiva, de maneira que não se falará mais em totalidade do ser e da
obra, e sim, em totalidades. Não há mais paternidade, nem origem, nem destino porque nela
(obra) o signo-arte torna-se um nômade no deserto. Cartografar este nomadismo na
autopoiese Kalahari é caminhar como errante, pelo ―fora‖ blanchotiano, sendo

No presente trabalho desenvolve-se um estudo acerca da evolução da sociedade. Os conceitos de tributo, meio ambiente e risco são observados sob a ótica da teoria dos sistemas autopoiéticos proposta por Niklas Luhmann. Busca-se demonstrar como ocorre a evolução dos sistemas sociais em uma sociedade funcionalmente diferenciada, e como cada subsistema social pode, dentro da sua identidade, contribuir para a preservação dos recursos naturais, buscando gerir os riscos ecológicos advindos de uma sociedade complexa e contingente. Com o estudo elaborado, abordou-se o Estado como organizador político - guiado juridicamente - da sociedade, que além de complexa e contingente, hoje apresenta feições de incerteza. A sociedade agora é de risco. Nesta feita, para organizar uma sociedade que é de risco ecológico, necessária se faz a aplicação de instrumentos de mudança social, como o tributo orientado ecologicamente, para transformar o Estado em um Estado de cunho ambiental. Para tal transformação do Estado, sugere-se a efetivação da tributação ecológica, como forma de proteção ambiental, através da interpretação sistêmica dos princípios de direito ambiental e tributário. The concepts of tribute, environment and risk are observed from the perspective of Niklas Luhmann s theory of autopoietic systems. It searches to demonstrate how is the evolution of social systems in a functionally differentiated society, and how each social subsystem may, within their identity, contribute to the preservation of natural resources, seeking to manage the ecological risks arising from a complex and quota society. With this study, it broached the State as a political organizer - guided legally - of society, which in addition to complex and quota, today introduced features of uncertainty. The society is now at risk. In this place, to organize a society that is of ecological risk, it is necessary to apply tools for social change, as the environmentally oriented tribute, to transform the State into a State of environmental stamp. For this transformation of the State, it suggests the implementation of ecological taxation, as a way of environmental protection, through systemic interpretation of the principles of environmental and tax laws. Acting like this, it would be implementing the constitutionally guaranteed right and fundamental duty to protect the ecologically balanced environment, through the social function of tribute.

A proposta é observar as operações da energia e da tecnologia como formas genuinamente sociais de comunicação, explicitando como a tecnologia conquista autopoiese a partir da clausura operativa desempenhada pela referência à energia. Nessa perspectiva, pode-se observar que o conceito de energia simboliza a relação de interdependência entre o sistema social e seu ambiente externo, que paradoxalmente só pode ser observado através de formas tecnológicas de constituição de sentido. A observação da energia e da tecnologia como formas auto-referentes de comunicação permite colocar também a questão da contingência do sentido da energia nos diversos âmbitos de comunicação da sociedade. The proposition is to observe the operations of energy and technology as genuine forms of social communication, explicitly how technology arises autopoietically from the operative closure executed for the reference to energy. From this perspective, it is possible to observe that the concept of energy symbolizes the interdependent relationship between the social system and its external environment, which, paradoxally can only be observed through technological means. Para isso, são realizados diálogos com os conceitos Autopoiese, de Humberto Maturana e Francisco Varela, Micropercepção (Pequenas Percepções), retomado de Gottfried Leibniz por José Gil , e com diversos pesquisadores da arte teatral tais como Constantin Stanislavski, Jacques Copeau, Jerzy Grotowski e outros, na busca de um alargamento da compreensão do treinamento do ator e dos fenômenos decorrentes desta prática. Agrega-se à discussão teórica, um aporte prático, a partir da realização de um treinamento corpóreo-improvisacional conduzido por este pesquisador a um grupo de alunas da graduação em Artes Cênicas da Unicamp. Além de conversações com o arcabouço teórico desta pesquisa, a prática é aqui exposta e pensada a partir de percepções oriundas de um diário de bordo deste pesquisador, de diários das alunas envolvidas e vídeos de sessões do treinamento realizado.<br>Abstract: This work aims to make a reflection on the actor's training regarding it as a privileged space for its self-creation. workshop on Human Education autopoietic, self-forming area of the educator, where he developed an Action Research Existential (PA-E) which enabled experience, describe and analyze how the human autopoietic educators could contribute to the practice educational humanescente transdisciplinary curriculum project. Were worked out in meetings, knowledge necessary to practice the transdisciplinary 1st Meeting - learn to create; 2nd Meeting - learn to recognize the laws of nature with emphasis on complexity theory, 3rd Meeting - learn to organize, 4th meeting - namely autoestruturar themselves; 5th Meeting - know how to choose, 6th Meeting - knowing innovate 7th Meeting - namely exchange. Det senmoderna samhällets komplexitet har gjort organisationers riskhantering till en viktig men svårstrukturerad aktivitet. I en förstudie (Sparf, 2004) har en riskhanteringsmetod utifrån sociologisk systemteori utarbetats (STRIM). I föreliggande uppsats är syftet dels att ge en bild av och exempel på hur riskhantering kan gå till i teori och praktik och dels att testa den empiriska giltigheten hos STRIM. De bakomliggande systemteorierna rekapituleras och därtill har teorier om riskhantering lagts. Den empiriska undersökningen har utgjorts främst av två intervjuomgångar med fem informanter i varje. Resultatet ger en fyllig bild av praktisk riskhantering, men uppfyller bara delvis prövningen av STRIM. Den viktigaste slutsatsen är att instrumentella och administrativa riskhanteringsmetoder respektive processer och enstaka insatser i praktiken har svårt att mötas. Dessa problem kan STRIM förmodligen bidra till att överbrygga genom skapandet av en gemensam nomenklatur.

una forma de intentar explorar una laguna existente en los estudios de modelos de
comunicación, en especial, en esa nueva configuración post-moderna. El estudio
parte de un abordaje sistémico, con influencias de la ecología, neurología, biología
del conocimiento, lingüística, semiótica, análisis del discurso, análisis del medio para
componer un modelo de comunicación digital. Bien como las derivas que la relación
hombre y máquina digital, actuando en el medio digital, pueden realizar. Tiene como
resultado una propuesta modelar de abordaje de un sistema de comunicación digital
y el entendimiento de como esa unidad se ha tornado autopoiético. El trabajo
refuerza la necesidad de una mayor concentración de los estudios en las relaciones
digitales y extrae una línea evolutiva que justifica la posición pos-moderna delante
del mundo digital no como alienación u homeostasis simplemente, pero como un

In this dissertation I consider the nature of the relationship between orientation and language-habits in the context of environmental ethics. Specifically, I focus on the problem of orientation as a way of understanding the unabated trend of anthropocentrism in the dominant Western language-culture. Orientation operates as the attitudes, beliefs, and feelings in relation to something that we embody in our lived experiences. One way that we communicate our orientation in relation to the land is through our language-habits. In considering our language-habits, I conceptualize a process I call conceptual autopoiēsis. Conceptual autopoiēsis is the co-evolutionary coupling process of the language-habits and language-cultures of human orientation, which recreates the initial conditions of the reproduction of the specific concepts embodied in that given orientation, language-habit, and language-culture. I show how our orientation to the land is embodied in our language-habits and language-cultures. I show how orientation, language-habit, language-culture, and conceptual autopoiēsis all function as the environment from which we select the very conceptualization of our orientation and the language we use to do so. More specifically, metaphysical anthropocentrism is a kind of orientation that assumes a dualistic relationship to the land that perpetuates a disconnect from Nature that makes it impossible to have an ecocentric land ethic. I argue that in order to advance the language-habits and language-cultures that can cultivate a more ecocentric orientation capable of living in harmony with nature, we must first understand how the conceptual autopoiēsis of language-habits and language-cultures of the current Western orientation continue to orient us as separate from Nature.

Previous issue date: 2014-02-25<br>CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior<br>Ao inaugurar um modelo de Estado Democrático de Direito destinado a assegurar o exercício dos direitos sociais e individuais, a liberdade, a igualdade e a justiça como valores supremos de uma sociedade fraterna, pluralista e sem preconceitos, comprometida na ordem interna e internacional com a solução pacífica das controvérsias, a Constituição de 1988 propõe o rompimento de um paradigma ainda vigorante e estabelece um rol de promessas a serem perseguidas. Compreender esse novo panorama implica a necessidade de se ressignificar fundamentos ultrapassados, entre eles os que atribuem à jurisdição uma função declaratória da lei vinculada ao monismo jurídico, do mesmo modo que se reconhece que vivenciamos uma sociedade complexa e policontextural, onde o conflito é elemento presente e, por isso, requer a atribuição de novos sentidos de gestão e de acesso à justiça. A sociedade é locus de análise; nada acontece fora dela. Nesse sentido, há uma reforma silenciosa na justiça brasileira, com implementação de ações que constituem políticas públicas em andamento e uma reconfiguração dos textos constitucionais na América Latina, que introduzem outras formas de tratamentos de conflitos além daquela promovida pelo judiciário, na forma de processo judicial. Tais formas apresentam, aos jurisdicionados, institutos não adversariais, como a mediação, a qual pressupõe a facilitação do diálogo por um mediador de confiança dos conflitantes, entre outros. Institutos como o da mediação demonstram que o poder não existe; o que existe são relações de poder difusas. Isso reforça o fortalecimento das comunidades. A fragilização do poder expõe a resistência a mudanças do subsistema político da sociedade e a insuficiência de seus elementos, especialmente o funcional, que se caracterizava pelo monopólio da jurisdição. A comunidade, por sua vez, apresenta formas diversas, identificando
entre elas uma comunidade cívica constituída e que se constitui pela cidadania participativa, a qual vem ganhando espaço no meio jurídico com programas como a justiça comunitária. Tal cenário evidencia paradoxos que não são resolvidos pelo normativismo, que propõe um processo de tomada de decisão com racionalidade por meio de critérios normativos de validade, o que abre espaço para uma proposta de policontexturalidade, que permite observar, a partir das categorias da teoria dos sistemas, os novos sentidos do Direito e que apresenta um conceito de sentido ligado à pluralidade. Com o objetivo de se analisar esses novos sentidos do Direito, se introduz a perspectiva autopoietica, para identificar aquilo que não poderia ser pensado em uma visão dogmática unidimensional. Assim, por meio do método sistêmico, preconizado por Niklas Luhmann, que não é indutivo nem dedutivo, uma vez que pretende descrever os sistemas (aberto e fechado) e sua relação com o ambiente, é possível identificar
uma nova forma de comunicação do sistema jurídico que pressupõe o reconhecimento da diferença e repele o consenso originado no exame racional das pretensões de validade. Para essa forma, designou-se o termo de jurisdição comunitária, pois fundamenta-se na participação ativa das comunidades e na preocupação com a efetivação do acesso à justiça na contemporaneidade.<br>Inaugurating a model of a democratic state to ensure the exercise of social and individual rights, freedom, equality and justice as supreme values of a fraternal society, pluralistic and unprejudiced, committed in internal and international order to the peaceful settlement controversies, the 1988 Constitution proposes the breakup of a paradigm still invigorating and establishes a list of promises to be pursued. The understanding of this new perspective implies the need to reframe outdated grounds, among them that attach to the jurisdiction of a declaratory function linked to the legal monism, in the same way that we experience the law recognizes a complex society and polycontextural where conflict is present element and therefore requires assigning new meanings management and access to justice. The society is the locus of analysis; nothing happens outside. In this sense, there is a silent reform to justice, implementation of actions that constitute public policy in progress and a reconfiguration of the constitutions in Latin America, which introduce other forms of conflict treatments beyond that promoted by the judiciary, in the form of legal process. Such forms present, the jurisdictional, not adversarial institutions, such as mediation, which involves the facilitation of dialogue by a trusted mediator of conflict, among others. Institutes such as mediation demonstrate that power does not exist; that there are relations of diffuse power. This reinforces the strengthening of communities. The we akening of power exposes the resistance to change of the political subsystem of society and the failure of its elements, especially the functional, which was characterized by the monopoly of jurisdiction. The community, in turn, has several forms, including identifying an incorporated community and civic what constitutes the participatory citizenship, which is gaining ground in the legal environment with programs like community justice. This scenario shows paradoxes that are not resolved by normativism, which proposes a process of rational decision making through normative criteria of validity, which leaves room for a proposed policontexture, which allows us to observe, from the categories of systems theory, new senses of law and presents a concept of meaning attached to plurality. In order to analyze these new senses of law, it introduces autopoietic perspective, to identify what could not be thought of a one-dimensional dogmatic view. Thus, through the systemic method, advocated by Niklas Luhmann, which is not inductive or deductive, since it seeks to describe the systems (open and closed) and its relationship with he environment, it is possible to identify a new form of communication of the legal system which presupposes the recognition of difference and repels the consensus originated in the rational examination of validity claims. In this way, the term was designated as community jurisdiction, because it is based on the active participation of communities, besides the worry concerned to an effective access to justice in the contemporary world.

[Truncated abstract] The dominant approaches to knowledge management practice and the design of knowledge management systems are driven by a resource-based view of knowledge. In this thesis, it is argued that the resource-based view of knowledge is limited and lacks social sensitivity. In this thesis, Knowledge Management is viewed as a social activity and the development and examination of an alternate approach to conceptualising the social processes of knowledge management in organisations, is the primary objective. In pursuing this objective, the question of whether an activity-based view of knowledge processes can assist the design of knowledge management practice and systems is examined. To address this research question, a conceptual framework is developed which redefines the conventional, universal approach to knowledge context . . . From an organisational perspective, the ABCs framework suggests that the institutionalisation and contextualisation of knowledge provides management with another dimension for considering knowledge management and knowledge management systems implementation. The findings from the case study suggest that knowledge workers are influenced by environmental factors. As a result, organisations can use this research to develop knowledge management practices that take environmental factors into consideration. As a starting point for organisations, the findings from the case studies are used to develop a set of guidelines for the design of knowledge management practice and systems. Further research is suggested in terms of extending to considerations of other aspects of Luhmann’s theories and exploring other complexity sciences as the basis of knowledge management.

About the radio, it evaluates the processes of autopoiesis (Maturana and Varela, 1972) and radiomorphosis (Prata, 2009) in the different adaptations of this communication medium to its
environment, according to the historical moment and technological advents. Concerning to the scientific communication applied to the radio, it proposes the use of radio language and consolidated radio genres, besides to the emerging on the Internet, as the electronic address suggested by Prata (2009) in his study about web radio. The purpose of the research was to verify how the
transformations in radio phonic scientific communication on the Internet occurred. To do so, it was chosen the Radio as Science (Radiophonic project of scientific communication that offers radio phonic productions on the Internet in podcast format) as the corpus of analysis, with content analysis as the method of approach. It was analyzed eight radio phonic productions from Radio as Science, which demonstrated the technological adaptations to which the project passed by, since the production processes and availability of contents to the use of radio language and radio genres, including its adaptations to the Internet, both applied to the scientific communication. It was also necessary to seek theoretical subsidies to the understanding of scientific communication and of its
specificities applied to the radio. As a result, it was identified that radio scientific communication, considering the Internet era, gets the dynamics of web radio and its new facets as text and imaging elements, increasing the approach to the Internet listener and generating new perspectives to the scientific communication in the interactive multimedia era.<br>Esta dissertação apresenta reflexões sobre as relações entre rádio e ciência. Sobre o rádio, avalia os processos de autopoiese (Maturana e Varela, 1972) e radiomorfose (Prata, 2009) nas diversas adaptações deste meio de comunicação ao seu ambiente, de acordo com o momento histórico e os adventos tecnológicos. Quanto à divulgação científica aplicada ao rádio, propõe a utilização da
linguagem radiofônica e dos gêneros radiofônicos consolidados, além dos que emergem na internet,
como o endereço eletrônico sugerido por Prata (2009) em seu estudo sobre webradio. O objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar como se deram as transformações da divulgação científica radiofônica na internet. Para tanto escolheu-se o Rádio com Ciência (projeto radiofônico de divulgação científica que oferece produções radiofônicas na internet em formato de podcast) como corpus de análise,
tendo a análise de conteúdo como método de abordagem. Foram analisadas oito produções radiofônicas do Rádio com Ciência, que demonstraram as adaptações tecnológicas pelas quais o projeto passou, desde os processos de produção e disponibilização do conteúdo até a utilização da linguagem radiofônica e dos gêneros radiofônicos, incluindo suas adaptações à internet, ambos
aplicados à divulgação científica. Também se fez necessário buscar subsídios teóricos para a compreensão da divulgação científica e de suas especificidades aplicadas ao rádio. Como resultado, identificou-se que a divulgação científica radiofônica em tempos de internet ganha a dinâmica do rádio na web e suas novas facetas como elementos imagéticos e textuais, aumentando a aproximação com o ouvinte/internauta e gerando novas perspectivas para a divulgação científica na era da
interatividade multimidiática.

Previous issue date: 2012<br>The development in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field brought great improvement to the resolution of computationally hard problems. However, the early goal of AI, of implementing a genuine intelligence in an artificial way, was not achieved. Therefore most of the field’s researchers changed their research’s focus to problem resolution, quitting the goal of an artificial intelligence. To keep pursuing that goal others researchers started questioning the philosophical principles of AI and they took new routes. Some of them realized that the process of intelligence is not purely mental. According to this new view the body has a fundamental role in the cognitive process. From this point of view, aiming to overcome traditional obstacles of AI, the Embodied AI emerged. It has a strong tendency to implementation in robots, to develop a better design of the body. Despite having achieved improvements over the problem of traditional AI, Embodied AI started to present its own limitations. Then came the idea that a genuinely intelligent agent must formulate its own problems from the perception of reality, constructed in terms of their sensory-motor apparatus. In other words, the genuine intelligence is linked to the agent’s autonomy. The Enactive AI appeared influenced by biological studies about autonomy. In this AI field the goal is to build an autonomous artificial agent. This paper reports the trajectory of AI since its foundation, through strand of Embodied AI, and pointing to a possible new paradigm of Enactive AI. In addition, we analyse and discuss the processes that led researchers to question the philosophical basis of IA and formulate new concepts about what intelligence is.<br>O desenvolvimento da área de Inteligência Artificial (IA) trouxe grandes avanços para a resolução de problemas computacionalmente difíceis. No entanto, a meta inicial da IA, de implementação de uma inteligência genuína de forma artificial, ainda não foi alcançada. Por isso, a grande maioria dos pesquisadores da área mudou o foco de suas pesquisas para resolução de problemas, em geral abandonando a meta de uma inteligência artificial. Para continuar perseguindo essa meta, outros pesquisadores passaram a questionar os princípios filosóficos da IA e tomar novos rumos. Alguns deles perceberam que o processo da inteligência não é puramente mental. De acordo com essa nova visão, o corpo tem um papel fundamental no processo cognitivo. A partir desse ponto de vista, visando superar obstáculos tradicionais da IA, surgiu a IA Corporificada. Esta tem uma forte tendência a implementação em robôs, para se desenvolver um melhor projeto sobre o corpo. Porém, apesar de ter obtido avanços em relação a problema da IA tradicional, a IA Corporificada começou a apresentar suas próprias limitações. Surgiu então a ideia de que um agente genuinamente inteligente deve formular seus próprios problemas a partir da percepção da realidade, construída em termo do seus aparato sensório-motor. Em outras palavras, a inteligência genuína está ligada à autonomia do agente. A IA Enativa surgiu influenciada por estudos biológicos a respeito da autonomia. Nessa área da IA a meta é construir um agente artificial autônomo. Este trabalho relata a trajetória da IA desde a sua fundação, passando pela vertente da IA Corporificada, e apontando um possível novo paradigma da IA Enativa. Além disso, nós Analisamos e discutimos os processos que levaram pesquisadores a questionar o embasamento filosófico da IA e a formular novos conceitos a respeito do que é inteligência.

Over 22,000 sherds of pottery were recovered during the excavation of the
small islet of Eilean Dòmhnuill in North Uist in the late 1980s. Analysis of the
assemblage has demonstrated that all of the main vessel forms and
decorative motifs recognised at the site were already in place when settlement
began in the earlier 4th millennium BC and continued to be deposited at the
site until its abandonment over 800 years later. Statistically significant stylistic
variation is limited to slow drifts in the relative proportions of certain rim forms.
Across the Outer Hebrides, decorative elaboration and the presence of large
numbers of distinctive vessel forms would appear to mark out certain
assemblages seemingly associated with communal gathering and feasting
events at key locales within which a distinctive Hebridean Neolithic identity
was forged.
Throughout, this study takes a relational approach to the issue of variation in
material culture, viewing all archaeological entities as dynamic assemblages
that themselves form attributes of higher-level assemblages. It is argued that
the various constraints and affordances that arise within such assemblages
constitute significant structuring principles that give rise to commonly held
expectations and dispositions, resulting in the kind of constrained temporal
and spatial variation that we observe in the archaeological record and which in

Le thème de l’individuation et de la persistance des entités vivantes constitue l’une des problématiques centrales de la philosophie de la biologie. Dans les sciences du vivant, l’organisme représente traditionnellement l’exemple paradigmatique de l’individu biologique. Toutefois, malgré le lien intuitif entre l’organisme et l’individu, la biologie contemporaine a su faire un usage plus large du concept d’individu. Ainsi, la circonscription de ce qui était appréhendé comme appartenant au vivant a été élargie par la reconnaissance de plusieurs types d’individus biologiques, parmi lesquels nous trouvons non seulement les organismes dits « traditionnels », mais également toute une variété d’entités telles que des protistes, des molécules d’ARN, des prions, des virus et des bactéries de toutes sortes. Par ailleurs, cette nouvelle vision de l’individu biologique a été utilisée afin d’illustrer les différents niveaux de l’organisation biologique. En ce sens, la discussion porte principalement sur le niveau – gènes, cellules, organismes, superorganismes, espèces, écosystèmes – où la sélection agit, dans lequel l’organisme, en tant qu’exemple paradigmatique d’individu, peut être considéré comme un simple niveau entre une diversité de niveaux de sélection. Par conséquent, l’extension des limites de l’ontologie biologique a permis, d’une part, d’interroger le concept d’individu en le libérant de la référence à l’organisme, et d’une autre, de relativiser l’importance de l’organisme au sein du discours biologique. Pourtant, nous soutenons que, pour contribuer au développement de la thématique de l’individu biologique, il faut donner voix à un autre discours sur l’individualité, qui émerge des discussions sur l’ontologie des organismes. C’est vers la tradition systémique qu’il convient de tourner le regard, dans le but d’étendre les recherches sur la nature de l’individualité biologique sous l’angle d’une définition renouvelée de l’organisme. Notre démarche suppose d’établir une distinction importante entre deux tendances biologiques à propos du problème de l’individu biologique : l’individu darwinien et l’individu ontogénétique. Dans une approche ontogénétique, un individu correspond à l’entité qui s’autodétermine au cours de son temps de vie individuel. Ainsi, cette position repose sur une conception davantage physiologique, centrée sur l’organisation biologique<br>The theme about individuation and persistence of living entities is one of the central issues in the philosophy of biology. In the life sciences, the organism represents traditionally the paradigmatic example of the biological individual. However, despite the intuitive connection between the organism and the individual, contemporary biology has been able to make wider use of the concept of the individual. Thus, the contours of what was apprehended as belonging to the living world has been enlarged by the recognition of several types of biological individuals, among which we find not only so-called "traditional" organisms, but also a variety of entities such as protists, RNA molecules, prions, viruses and bacteria of all kinds. In addition, this new vision of the biological individual has been used to illustrate the different levels of biological organization. In this sense, the discussion focuses on the level - genes, cells, organisms, superorganisms, species, ecosystems - where selection acts, in which the organism can be considered a simple level between a variety of levels of selection. Consequently, the extension of the limits of biological ontology allowed, on the one hand, to question the concept of the individual by releasing it from the reference to the organism, and on the other hand, to relativize the importance of the organism within the biological discourse. However, we argue that, to contribute to the development of biological individuality theme, we must give voice to another discourse on individuality, which emerges from discussions on the ontology of organisms. It is towards the systemic tradition that we must turn our attention, in order to extend research on the nature of biological individuality in the light of a renewed definition of the organism. Thus, we assumes an important distinction between two non-exclusive biological tendencies about the problem of the biological individual: the Darwinian individual and the ontogenetic individual. In an ontogenetic approach, an individual corresponds to the entity that self-determines during its individual life time. Previous issue date: 2018-03-23<br>The main focus brought in the present project is to empirically demonstrate the inefficiency of Criminal Law as an instrument against the advance of crimes, especially in view of the fact that, despite of more than 142 criminal laws have been produced between the democratization of Brazil and December 31, 2017 - 88% more severe -, criminal records keeps increasing, as the massive imprisonment, which percentage between 1990/2017 reached 707%. Therefore, the present study intents to discuss that both the expansion of legal assets, as well as the increase in the penalties already provided for in the Legal Order are not able instruments to achieve the proposed purpose, namely, reduction of crime in Brazil, much less demand the punitive movement of the last decades – based on the culture of fear – under the allegation that the existing mechanisms of defenses against the crime are not enough. Finally, a proposal for a new Criminal Law will be suggested, based on Niklas Luhmann's system theory, which, in addition to ensuring the ultima ratio of the latter, allows for a responsive treatment of deviant action<br>A raiz do problema trazido no bojo do presente estudo é demonstrar empiricamente a ineficiência da austeridade do Direito Penal como meio de combater o avanço da criminalidade, notadamente diante do fato de que, malgrado terem sido produzidas mais de 142 leis penais entre a redemocratização do Brasil e 31 de dezembro de 2017 – 88% mais severas –, os índices de prática delitiva não apresentam redução. Ao revés, continuam a crescer desenfreadamente, tal como o encarceramento, cujo aumento percentual entre 1990/2017 alcançou 707%. Assim, busca-se com o presente trabalho debater que tanto a expansão de bens jurídicos a serem tutelados pelo Direito Penal, quanto o recrudescimento das penas dos delitos já previstos no Ordenamento Jurídico não são instrumentos hábeis a alcançar o fim proposto, a saber, a redução da criminalidade no Brasil, muito menos a demandar o movimento punitivista das últimas décadas – fundado na cultura do medo –, sob a bandeira de que os mecanismos atuais de defesas contra o crime não são suficientes. prisma del constructivismo operativo que surge a partir de la teoría de sistemas del
autor alemán Niklas Luhmann. Nuestro trabajo se desarrolla en tres capítulos: en el
primero de ellos se describe la sociedad de nuestros días como sociedad
funcionalmente diferenciada; se analizan los sistemas sociales en cuanto sistemas
autorreferentes y autopoiéticos y su organización sobre la base del concepto de
sentido; además se analiza la indisoluble relación entre la complejidad y la
diferenciación funcional, lo cual permite, para finalizar el capítulo y a la luz de la
necesidad de reducción de la complejidad, explicar en abstracto la diferenciación de un
sistema jurídico y dentro de éste de un (sub)sistema jurídico penal. En el capítulo
segundo se analiza el sistema jurídico en cuanto sistema parcial, poniendo especial
atención en su característica de sistema autopoiético, lo cual se complementa con el
análisis detallado de la función por la cual se diferencia y de su código binario de
operatividad, esto es, conforme a derecho/no conforme a derecho. En el capítulo
tercero, y a partir del contexto general del sistema jurídico previamente visto, se analiza
el Derecho Penal como (sub)sistema: por una parte, la función del (sub)sistema jurídico
penal; y, por otra parte, la autopoiesis del (sub)sistema jurídico penal, y dada la
premisa de que la generación de estructuras es una operación de los sistemas
autopoiéticos, se describe cómo la generación de estructuras constituye una operación
particularmente relevante del (sub)sistema jurídico penal, sobre todo en lo referente a
que desde el punto de vista del constructivismo operativo la autolegitimación del
(sub)sistema jurídico penal está dada, en gran medida, a través de la operación del
propio sistema de generación de las llamadas “estructuras de legitimidad”. Además, se
destina una sección al constructivismo operativo del (sub)sistema jurídico penal,
tomando como principales referentes los temas de la imputación objetiva y de la
culpabilidad. En última instancia, el apartado final, se reserva, en primer lugar, para
referirnos a las posibilidades de observación y descripción de los sistemas sociales
utilizando como referente lo que respecta al sistema jurídico; y en segundo lugar, para
esbozar algunas consideraciones sobre las posibilidades de observación del
(sub)sistema jurídico penal. En la conclusión se describe como el instrumental del

Previous issue date: 2011-03-18<br>This study shows the problem of school party and its relations with the perspective of leisure autopoiesis in the lives of students living in student housing. It has aimed to describe and interpret the most meaningful leisure experiences in daily life of a student housing and the ludopoietic processes for the humanescent self-education. From the theoretical assumptions supporting the development of this research have highlighted: Education by Freire (1996); Embodiment by Pierrakos (1990); Leisure by Dumazedier (1999); Party by Duvignaud (1983), Playful by Schiller (2002), Working by Freinet (1998), Autopoiesis by Maturana and Varela (2001), belonging to each day by Certeau (1994). A qualitative study adopts the principles of existential action research, in an ethnofenomenological perspective. As a methodology, we use the metaphor of sowing covering the planting, flowering, harvest and new planting. The scenario was to sow the Escola Agr?cola de Jundia? - RN. Twenty-five students residing in the school participated in research from 2007 to 2008, which involved more actively in the development of an extension project for the implementation of recreational and leisure experiences in that institution. The main instruments used for the construction of data collection were: participant observation, questionnaire, interview, game sand and photographs. The process of data analysis with the ethnofenomenological principles emphasized the following points: experientiality, indexicality, reflexivity, self-organizability, adoptability, archetypal and humanescenciality. New meanings of ludopoietic flowering of seed "party school" were revealed, and you can see the emergence of autopoietic leisure as a big green tree, able to sprout in soil properly fertilized to produce wonderful fruit of joie de vivre<br>Este estudo apresenta a problem?tica da festa na escola e as suas rela??es com a perspectiva da autopoiese do lazer na vida de estudantes que residem em moradia estudantil. Teve como objetivo descrever e interpretar as viv?ncias de lazer mais significativas no cotidiano de uma moradia estudantil e os processos ludopoi?ticos para a autoforma??o humanescente. This master thesis is about the autopoietic development process of undergraduate students of pedagogy from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), who were studied by us in this thesis. The main objective was to search the senses wire weaved in the autopoietic development process of undergraduate students of pedagogy from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) and study the meanings built by the students that link them to the teaching profession. The research subjects of this study accepted to share with us his experiences by the Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido (TCLE). It s a qualitative research considering the autobiographic perspective and the methodological process involved individual narratives interviews, which one were recorded, transcribed and analised by the Análise Textual Discursiva (ATD), according to Roque Moraes (2003). The theories of this study were built by these concepts: autopoiese (MATURANA & VARELA, 2001; 2010); processo identitário docente (ISAIA, 2006); narrativas (JOSSO, 2004; 2010); identidade profissional docente (ISAIA, 2006); narrativas de Si (ABRAHÃO, 2006); investigação narrativa (ISAIA, 2006); memória educativa (FERNANDES, 2006); formação inicial (CUNHA, 2006); processos formativos (OLIVEIRA, 2006); percurso vital (MACIEL, 2006); trajetória, trajetória profissional e trajetória de formação (ISAIA, 2006) e ambiência (MACIEL, 1995; 2000; 2006; 2009; 2010). Nesta tese, argumenta-se que as inscrições são a interface a partir da qual é possível considerar metodologicamente a condição de observadores na visualização do conhecimento. Para isso, considera-se os limites dos sistemas formais, a crise da representação e o modelo da Máquina de Turing como afirmações da condição encarnada do conhecer. Nesse contexto, a noção de informação mostra-se indício de uma transição paradigmática entre um modelo de conhecimento representacional, no qual a posição de um observador frente às representações não entra na configuração analisada, e um modelo sistêmico, que exige a consideração de diferentes níveis de organização e suas limitações que emergem da autorreferência. Propõe-se a noção superfície de inscrição para abordar a relação entre operatividades mecânicas, como a encontrada nos computadores, e o domínio consensual da linguagem que permite explicar um mundo entendido como realidade. Essa noção é forjada como um artifício teóricometodológico para evitar, em contextos educativos e de pesquisa, a reificação de uma posição frente aos quadros explicativos que reforça dicotomias tipo natureza-cultura e deslegitima o potencial enunciativo de qualquer ser humano. O artifício é proposto em três campos de análise e legibilidade: o campo das condições técnicas das superfícies; a estabilização de uma posição de observação diante das superfícies de inscrição; e o contexto político do uso de tais superfícies para compartilhar e explicar.<br>On this thesis, we discuss that the inscriptions are the interface from which it is possible to consider the conditions of observers methodologically on the knowledge visualization; therefore, we consider the formal systems limits, the representation crisis, and the Turing Machine Model as affirmations of the embodied condition of knowledge. In this context, the notion of information proves to be an indicative of a paradigmatic shift from a representational model of knowledge, in which the position of an observer in the face of representations does not infer the configuration that was analyzed, and a systemic model, which demands consideration of different levels of organization and its limitations that emerge from self-reference. We propose the notion of inscription surface to tackle the relation of different kinds of mechanical operability, as the one found in computers, and the consensual domain of language that helps one to explain a world perceived as reality. This notion is forged as a theoretic-methodological stratagem to avoid, in educational and research contexts, the reification of a position related to the explanatory frameworks that reinforces dichotomies such as nature-culture and delegitimizes the enunciative potential of any humanbeing. The stratagem is proposed in three fields of analysis and readability: the field of technical conditions of the surfaces; a position of observation stabilization on the inscription surfaces, and the political context of the use of such surfaces to share and explain.
