Abstract:
Decision-making is directly connected with purposeful human activity. All people are engaged in this process on a daily basis both personally and using automatic or automated systems. The paper considers the issues of decision-making technology in automatic and automated systems, identifies the main stages of decision making: data – information – knowledge – decision making – decision implementation. There are defined terms «data», «information», «knowledge», «decision», «implementation» which are used at the stages of decision making and decision implementation in automated and automatic control systems. In the paper, there are provided definitions of automatic and automated systems, robots as a separate class of automatic systems, as well as the next stage of development of robots – self-organizing automatic machines which are independently configured to perform various target functions based on the rules of acquiring knowledge. Some features of large systems such as industry or state are noted. For such systems, it is impossible to get all the necessary data about the processes that take place in them. Therefore, the information obtained as a result of their processing will not provide enough knowledge for decision-making on system management. Missing knowledge can be obtained thanks to the unformalized knowledge of people. The definition of unformalized knowledge is provided as well. The paper forms the principles of building automated and automatic systems using artificial intelligence and describes the sequence of control processes in any automatic or automated control system

This paper presents an approach to the automated design of the initial conceptual database model. The UML activity diagram, as a frequently used business process modeling notation, is used as the starting point for the automated generation of the UML class diagram representing the conceptual database model. Formal rules for automated generation cover the automatic extraction of business objects and business process participants, as well as the automatic generation of corresponding classes and their associations. Based on these rules we have implemented an automatic generator and evaluated it on a real business model.

Abstract:
The article considers an electronic system for detecting unmanned aerial vehicles, which includes a radar system, an optoelectronic system, a thermal imaging system, and an acoustic system. In information technology, the development of a software discrete-continuous stochastic model of the operational behavior of an electronic complex is an important stage in the creation of a structural-automatic model. The creation of a structural-automatic model is described in the article in the following sequence: description of the selected algorithm for the functioning of the electronic complex; verbal model of the operational functional behavior of the electronic complex; according to the verbal model, the development of a reference graph of states and transitions is described; on the basis of the reference graph of states and transitions, a structural-automatic model of operational behavior is formed; the need to verify the developed structural-automatic model is indicated. The combination of the structural-automatic model of operational behavior with the ASNA-2 software module forms a software stochastic model. The software stochastic model is designed to solve the problems of system engineering design (analysis and synthesis) of an electronic complex. The structural-automatic model allows the Designer to set any values of the performance indicators of the systems that are included in the electronic complex. The ASNA-2 software module automates the construction of state graphs based on the structural automated model; according to the state graph, it generates and solves the Kolmogorov-Chopman system of differential equations. By validating the software stochastic model, the reliability of the results to be obtained by the Projector was verified.

Abstract:
In the modern technological sphere, systems are categorized into various types based on their level of complexity and functional capabilities. The primary types are mechanical, automatic, and automated systems. Each of these types has its unique characteristics and areas of application. Mechanical systems are the simplest of all. They consist primarily of physical components such as gears, levers, and springs, which interact to perform specific tasks. These systems typically lack built-in control or regulation mechanisms, and their operation is based on basic mechanical principles. Examples of mechanical systems include simple clock mechanisms or traditional measuring devices. Automatic systems represent an evolutionary step beyond mechanical systems, as they include elements for automatic control. These may be electrical or electronic components that enable the system to perform certain operations without direct human intervention. For example, automatic doors or thermostats that regulate room temperature are examples of such systems. They can respond to changing conditions and perform tasks based on predefined parameters. Automated systems, in turn, are the most complex and integrated. They combine automatic control with software and advanced management systems, allowing them to adapt to changing environmental conditions and make decisions independently. Automated systems may include elements of artificial intelligence and machine learning, enabling them to perform complex tasks such as data processing or optimizing production processes. Examples include industrial robotic lines or management systems in distribution networks. Thus, the main differences between these systems lie in their level of complexity and functional capabilities: mechanical systems are based on simple physical principles, automatic systems contain elements of automatic control, and automated systems provide a high level of integration and autonomy.

Abstract:
Manual gear shifting is often used as an example of an automated (vs. controlled) process in driving. The present study provided an empirical evaluation of this assumption by evaluating sign detection and recall performance of novice and experienced drivers driving manual shift and automatic transmission cars in a downtown area requiring frequent gear shifting. The results showed that manual gear shifting significantly impaired sign detection performance of novice drivers using manual gears compared with novice drivers using an automatic transmission, whereas no such differences existed between the two transmission types for experienced drivers. The results clearly demonstrate that manual gear shifting is a complex psychomotor skill that is not easily (or quickly) automated and that until it becomes automated, it is an attention-demanding task that may impair other monitoring aspects of driving performance. Actual or potential applications of this research include a reevaluation of the learning process in driving and the need for phased instruction in driving from automatic gears to manual gears.

Background: The right ventricle (RV) plays a pivotal role in cardiovascular diseases and 3-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) has gained acceptance for the evaluation of RV volumes and function. Recently, a new artificial intelligence (AI)–based automated 3DE software for RV evaluation has been proposed and validated against cardiac magnetic resonance. The aims of this study were three-fold: (i) feasibility of the AI-based 3DE RV quantification, (ii) comparison with the semi-automatic 3DE method and (iii) assessment of 2-dimensional echocardiography (2DE) and strain measurements obtained automatically. Methods: A total of 203 subject (122 normal and 81 patients) underwent a 2DE and both the semi-automatic and automatic 3DE methods for Doppler standard, RV volumes and ejection fraction (RVEF) measurements. Results: The automatic 3DE method was highly feasible, faster than 2DE and semi-automatic 3DE and data obtained were comparable with traditional measurements. Both in normal subjects and patients, the RVEF was similar to the two 3DE methods and 2DE and strain measurements obtained by the automated system correlated very well with the standard 2DE and strain ones. Conclusions: results showed that rapid analysis and excellent reproducibility of AI-based 3DE RV analysis supported the routine adoption of this automated method in the daily clinical workflow.

Abstract. Recently, with increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), radiometric calibration of UAV images has become an important pre-processing step for application such as vegetation mapping, crop field monitoring, etc. In order to obtain accurate spectral reflectance, some UAVs measure irradiance at the time of image acquisition. However, most of UAV systems do not have such irradiance sensors. In these cases, vicarious radiometric correction method has to be used. Digital numbers (DNs) of imaged ground reflectance targets are measured and spectral reflectance is acquired from with known reflectance values of the targets. For automated vicarious calibration, a technique for automatically detecting image location of ground reflectance targets has been developed. In this study, we report an improved version of automated reflectance target detection and a new semi-automatic reflectance target detection developed. Test results showed that among the 14 reflectance targets, 13 targets were detected with the automatic target detection method. The undetected target was extracted by the proposed semi-automatic target detect method. Additional test was conducted on the remaining targets to confirm the applicability of our semi-automatic target detection method. As a result, other targets were also detected. The proposed automated and semi-automated target detection method can be used for automated vicarious calibration of UAV images.

Abstract:
Analysis of Brightness-mode ultrasound-captured fascicle angle (FA) and fascicle length (FL) can be completed manually with computer-based programs or by automated programs. Insufficient data exists regarding reliability and accuracy of automated tools. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability of automatic and manual ultrasound analyses, while determining accuracy of the automatic tool against the manual equivalent. Twenty-three participants (mean ± SD; age = 24 ± 4 years; height = 172.2 ± 10.5 cm; body mass = 73.1 ± 16.1 kg) completed one laboratory visit consisting of two trials where vastus lateralis muscle architecture was assessed with ultrasound. Images were taken at both lower (10 MHz) and higher frequency (12 MHz). Images were analyzed manually in an open-source imaging program and automatically using a separate open-source macro function. Test-retest reliability statistics were calculated for automatic and manual analyses. Accuracy was determined with validity statistics and were calculated for automatic analyses. The results show that manual ultrasound analyses for FA and FL for both lower and higher frequency displayed good reliability (ICC2,1 = 0.75–0.86). However, automatic ultrasound analyses for FA and FL revealed moderate reliability (ICC2,1 = 0.61–0.72) for the lower frequency images and poor reliability (ICC2,1 = 0.16–0.27) for higher frequency images. When assessed against manual techniques, automatic analyses presented greater total error (TE) and standard error of the estimate (SEE) for FA at lower frequency (constant error (CE) = −3.91°, TE = 5.57°, SEE = 3.45°) than higher (CE = −2.78°, TE = −4.54°, SEE = 2.45°). For FL, the higher frequency error (CE = 0.92 cm, TE = 2.12 cm, SEE = 1.15 cm) was similar to lower frequency error (CE = 1.98 cm, TE = 3.66 cm, SEE = 1.57 cm). The findings overall show that manual analyses had good reliability and low absolute error, while demonstrating the automated counterpart had poor to moderate reliability and large errors in analyses. These findings may be impactful as they highlight the good reliability and low error associated with manually analyzed ultrasound images and validate a novel automatic tool for analyzing ultrasound images. Future work should focus on improving reliability and decreasing error in automated image analysis tools. Automated tools are promising for the field as they eliminate biases between analysts and may be more time efficient than manual techniques.

Abstract:
Automatic classification is one of the hot topics in the field of information retrieval and natural language processing, but it still faces many problems to be solved. The classic automated classification approach has a sluggish classification speed and poor processing accuracy for resources with a large quantity of data. Based on this, an automated classification approach based on the integration of various neural networks for fundamental nursing teaching materials was presented. The automatic classification method of teaching resources was designed by extracting the characteristics of teaching resources, establishing the model of multiple neural network integration, and designing the classification index of basic nursing teaching resources. The experimental findings suggest that this technique has higher chi-square test parameters and better outcomes for the automated classification of large instructional materials than the classic rough set automatic classification method.

Abstract:
Abstract Robo-advisers enable investors to establish an automated rebalancing strategy for a portfolio usually consisting of stocks and bonds. Since households’ portfolios additionally include further frequently tradable assets like real estate funds, articles of great value and cash(-equivalents), we analyze whether households would benefit from a service that automatically rebalances a portfolio which additionally includes the latter assets. In contrast to previous studies, this paper relies on real-world household portfolios, which are derived from the German central bank’s (Deutsche Bundesbank) Panel on Household Finances (PHF)-Survey. We compute the portfolio performance increase/decrease that households would have achieved by employing rebalancing strategies instead of a buy-and-hold strategy in the period from September 2010 to July 2015 and analyze whether subsamples of households with certain sociodemographic and socioeconomic characteristics would have benefited more from portfolio rebalancing than other household subsamples. The empirical analysis shows that the analyzed German households would not have benefited from an automated rebalancing service and that no subgroup of households would have significantly outperformed another subgroup in the presence of rebalancing strategies.

Abstract:
It’s accepted to divide aircraft automatic control into semi-automatic (director) and automatic. Semi-automatic (director) systems provide for the collection and analysis of information, delivered from navigation equipment. On aircraft position in space and give a command to a pilot. Aircraft management with the help of such piloting-navigational systems is called semi-automatic because information collection and processing on aircraft condition is automated but the control’s left to be manual. Automatic control systems provide not just for information collection and processing on aircraft state but also for management laws as well as for control process itself. A man implements functions on automatic system work control, on identifying, making decisions on inclusion of this or that program, function of "hot" reserve. Present article shows experiment organization and obtained results on research of the processes of airplane director management while failures of board calculator of trajectory control system with real pilot inclusion into circuit. The research is held on the stage of aircraft approach and landing. The experiment was held on special bench of half-real modeling.

Abstract:
The object of research is the processes of automatic optimal passing of ships in the field of risks. ARPA (automatic radar plotting aid) is used on modern ships to track targets and pass from them. ARPA is an automated system that assumes the presence of an operator in the loop of information processing and management. Today, operator interventions in control processes are quite significant and often lead to an increase in the number of accidents and disasters. Recently, specialists have been paying more and more attention to the automation of ship control processes. The most promising direction of automation is the use of automatic control modules in automated systems. In this case, the shipmaster only decides to use the automatic module and observes its operation. An example of an automatic module in an automated system is autosteering, which has been used on ships for over 100 years. The paper considers the method of automatic optimal passing of ships in the field of risks. The method allows to minimize the path of passing, provided that the given collision risk is not exceeded. The obtained results are explained by the use of an on-board computer for the calculation of controls. In the on-board computer, at each step of the calculation, a field of risks is built. For the position point of the ship in the field of risks, there is a field gradient and a direction of movement of the ship perpendicular to the gradient. The direction of movement of the ship at each point is tangent to the trajectory of passing – an ellipse of equal risk. The ellipse of equal risks is used as a motion program for the formation of controls that ensure the movement of the ship along the ellipse of a given risk during the passing process. The developed method can be used for the development of automatic modules for managing the passing of ships in the field of risks.

Abstract:
The paper assessed various signs of lung tissue damage and the extent of its damage using automatic and empirical methods on CT of the chest organs in pneumonia caused by COVID-19. We analyzed 198 CT scans of the chest of patients with confirmed COVID-19 pneumonia of varying severity. The visual assessment was performed by a radiologist with 8 years of experience in thoracic radiology. The presence of CT patterns was assessed: ground-glass opacities, consolidation, reticular changes, “crazy paving”. Automatic analysis of CT scans performed in the “service of automatic diagnosis of patients with COVID-19”, which is determined by the amount of light and the amount of “ground glass” and consolidation. The automated analysis of computed tomograms was carried out in the “Service for automatic assessment of the severity of lung injury in patients with COVID-19”, which determined the volume of the lungs, the volume of the lesion “frosted glass” and consolidation. The average lesion volume in all groups was 19.1 % according to visual analysis. According to automatic analysis, the prevalence was 11.1 %. The visual assessment of the volume of the lesion is more pronounced compared with the automated assessment, in which the information is more objective.
