Abstract:
Attitude strength is a key characteristic of attitudes. Strong attitudes are durable and impactful, while weak attitudes are fluctuating and inconsequential. Recently, the causal attitude network (CAN) model was proposed as a comprehensive measurement model of attitudes, which conceptualizes attitudes as networks of causally connected evaluative reactions (i.e., beliefs, feelings, and behavior toward an attitude object). Here, we test the central postulate of the CAN model that highly connected attitude networks correspond to strong attitudes. We use data from the American National Election Studies 1980–2012 on attitudes toward presidential candidates ( N = 18,795). We first show that political interest predicts connectivity of attitude networks toward presidential candidates. Second, we show that connectivity is strongly related to two defining features of strong attitudes—stability of the attitude and the attitude’s impact on behavior. We conclude that network theory provides a promising framework to advance the understanding of attitude strength.

Abstract:
Quantitative researchers distinguish between causal and effect indicators. What are the analytic problems when both types of measures are present in a quantitative reasoned action analysis? To answer this question, the authors use data from a longitudinal study to estimate the association between two constructs central to reasoned action theory: behavioral beliefs and attitudes toward the behavior. The belief items are causal indicators that define a latent variable index while the attitude items are effect indicators that reflect the operation of a latent variable scale. The authors identify the issues when effect and causal indicators are present in a single analysis and conclude that both types of indicators can be incorporated into analyses of data based on the reasoned action approach.

Abstract:
The attitude of street-level bureaucrats towards their clients has an impact on the decisions they take. Still, such attitudes have not received much scholarly attention, nor are they generally studied in much detail. This article uses Breckler's psychological multicomponent model of attitude to develop a scale to measure street-level bureaucrats' general attitude towards their clients. By means of a test study ( N=218) and a replication study ( N = 879), the article shows that street-level bureaucrats' attitude towards clients consists of four different components: a cognitive attitude component, a positive affective attitude component, a negative affective attitude component and a behavioural attitude component. It also establishes a conceptual and empirical distinction from related attitudes, such as prosocial motivation, work engagement, bureaucrats’ rule-following identities and self-efficacy, and suggests avenues for application and further validation among different groups of street-level bureaucrats. This instrument opens up opportunities for theory testing and causality testing that surpasses case-specific considerations.

The authors demonstrate how item response theory can be applied for cost effective measurement of consumer attitudes with multi-item scales. The measurement technique they discuss and illustrate is tailored to each respondent so that each is asked only the scale items most informative of his or her attitude level. This approach yields attitude estimates from only a fraction of the total number of items in the attitude scale, with a measurable and controllable increase in the standard error of measurement. Potential cost-saving implications are discussed.

Abstract:
At present, methods of the navigation and the attitude measurements of projectile utilizing the magnetic fields are facing the interference from the BMF (background magnetic field). The principle and mathematical model of the BMF for the spinning projectile are been researched to realize the high accuracy measurement of the geomagnetic field on projectile. The composition and jamming mechanism of the projectile's BMF are derived with the Faraday electromagnetic induction theory. High precision compensation model of the geomagnetic measurement is established by synthesizing the magnetic sensor error model. Based on the idea of the error transfer, the attitude measuring errors caused by the BMF are analyzed and the error calculation formulas are given. On this basis, numerical simulation is conducted combining with projectile's flight rules. The results show that the influence of attitude angle measuring precisions caused by the background interference magnetic field are much bigger than the errors caused by the sensor noise and the established compensation model has obvious effect. Besides, the effective BMF compensation of geomagnetic measurements on the projectile must be conducted if the attitude angle measurement error is in requirements within ±1 °.

Vessel weapon firing precision is deeply influenced by the attitude, which also affects vessel combat efficiency. In order to realize the high precision determination of vessel weapon attitude, this paper presented the weapon attitude measuring theory based on CIRS(Conventional Inertial Reference System). The theory contained star apparent place synchronous calculation, star image coordinates calculation and three-axis attitude solution. It was realized that weapon attitude measurement could be carried out in the sailing, which error was not accumulated. The advantage of this theory is high precision, high reliability and low cost.

Abstract:
In this article, we model implicit attitude measures using our network theory of attitudes. The model rests on the assumption that implicit measures limit attitudinal entropy reduction, because implicit measures represent a measurement outcome that is the result of evaluating the attitude object in a quick and effortless manner. Implicit measures therefore assess attitudes in high entropy states (i.e., inconsistent and unstable states). In a simulation, we illustrate the implications of our network theory for implicit measures. The results of this simulation show a paradoxical result: Implicit measures can provide a more accurate assessment of conflicting evaluative reactions to an attitude object (e.g., evaluative reactions not in line with the dominant evaluative reactions) than explicit measures, because they assess these properties in a noisier and less reliable manner. We conclude that our network theory of attitudes increases the connection between substantive theorizing on attitudes and psychometric properties of implicit measures.

Abstract:
There have been two basic approaches for the study of minority group prejudice against the majority: to adapt instruments from the majority group, and to use qualitative techniques by analyzing the content of the discourse of the groups involved. Neither of these procedures solves the problem of measuring intergroup attitudes of majorities and minorities in interaction. This study shows the result of a prejudice scale which was developed to measure the attitude of both the minority and majority groups. Prejudice is conceived as an attitude which requires the beliefs or opinions about the out-group, the emotions it elicits, and the behavior or intentional behavior toward it to be known for its evaluation. The innovation in this work is that the psychometric development of the scale was based on the item response theory, and more specifically, the rating scale model.

Abstract:
From an organizational perspective, open innovation (OI) capability assessments are becoming increasingly important. The authors propose that an organization’s attitude toward interactive OI activities among OI stakeholders can reveal its degree of capability. This paper aims to focus on an organization’s OI attitude measurement scales and develop a framework linked to the role perspectives and loci of OI activities occurring at the organizational level. This research will introduce a practical, theory-based indication of OI assessment by combining a deductive process that identifies organizational OI attitude constructs with an inductive framework development process. First, the authors conducted an extensive literature review of attitude measurement on the execution of OI. Then, they performed empirical data analysis using a large-scale structured attitude assessment survey from individuals in domestic and multi-national corporations (n = 134), which led to the development of questionnaire sets on attitude evaluation. This study contributes to developing an organizational OI attitude assessment scale. Furthermore, based on empirical data analysis, the research framework demonstrated the reliability and validity of the organizational OI attitude measurement scale. Specifically, the scale contains proven questionnaires assessing OI attitudes by interrogating individual actors’ impact, behavior, and cognition regarding their organization’s OI activities. The organization’s three role perspectives (transfer, absorption, and brokerage) and two loci of activities in the OI ecosystem provide six distinct dimensions, suggesting areas of focus for a firm’s strategic OI direction.

Abstract:
Abstract In view of the problems that the current attitude measurement method of rotating projectile based on three-axis infrared needs to normalize the sensor according to the surrounding environment in advance, resulting in the troublesome application of infrared attitude measurement method and insufficient environmental adaptability, an adaptive normalization method for attitude measurement of rotating projectile based on four-axis infrared is proposed. Based on the mathematical relationship between four-axis infrared sensors, an adaptive algorithm for the output amplitude and offset of infrared sensors is designed, which can realize the adaptive normalization of the environment of infrared sensors at any time. By building the semi-physical experiment and changing the surrounding environment, it is proved that the adaptive normalization method of rotating projectile attitude measurement based on four-axis infrared is effective, which provides convenience for the use of infrared attitude measurement method and further improves the infrared attitude measurement theory.

Abstract:
Fall is a risky event in the elderly people’s daily life, it often cause serious injury both in physiology and psychology. A MEMS attitude measurement system is designed for fall detection in real time. This paper presents the design and error test of the attitude measurement unit. Each unit contains orthogonally mounted triads of accelerometers, magnetometers and gyros. With an integrated microcontroller for attitude calculating and flash for data storage, the size of the unit is 32mm×23mm×12mm. An extended Kalman filter based on quaternions is designed for attitude measurement. The digital angle output rate is 100Hz. A new method based on coordinate transformation for attitude measurement error test is introduced, using a single axis turntable and a fixed angle wedge. Theory of the testing method is presented and test experiments are performed. Test results show that attitude measurement error is less than 2°, which meets the requirement of fall detection precision. The fall detection system consists of five attitude measurement units fixed on the human legs and waist.

Abstract:
Abstract In the conventional methods of star sensor accuracy evaluation, neither the accuracy calculation formula nor the Monte Carlo method can comprehensively reflect the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors in real-time. In this paper, a real-time analysis and calculation model for the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors is proposed. Firstly, the basic attitude measurement model of the star sensor is established through the pinhole imaging model. Moreover, a moving frame of star sensor attitude measurement is established to avoid the defects of attitude representation by the Euler angle in the star sensor accuracy analysis. Then, combined with the error transfer of implicit overdetermined equations proposed in this paper, the error transfers of starspot extraction random error, star catalog random error, and intrinsic parameter system error are provided. Finally, simulation and field experiments are conducted to verify the accuracy of the proposed error analysis theory. The experimental results show that the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors can be accurately estimated by using single-frame data of guide stars.

Abstract:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a threat to achieving the United Nation’s (UN) sustainable development goals (SDGs). The behavior of stakeholders has directly influenced the extent of AMR and understanding underpinning knowledge and attitudes is an important step towards understanding these behaviors. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a novel questionnaire, utilizing the theory of Appreciative Inquiry, to measure knowledge and attitudes around antibiotic resistance amongst community pharmacists throughout Thailand. A survey tool was developed using the Appreciative Inquiry theory, and was piloted in a non-probability sample of practicing community pharmacists. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied and the tool validated, using a three-step psychometric validation process. A total of 373 community pharmacists participated in the study. The survey tool was found to be valid and reliable. The “Knowledge” domain of the survey tool showed an acceptable level of reliability (Cronbach’s alpha 0.64); while the “Attitude” domain showed an excellent reliability level (Cronbach’s alpha 0.84). This new survey tool has been designed to measure attitudes and knowledge of antibiotic resistance by utilizing the Discovery phase of Appreciative Inquiry theory amongst community pharmacists in Thailand. This survey tool has the potential to be used by other researchers across different settings.

For better design and control of the space turntable, a model for measuring its angular velocity was built. The model utilized a two-axis space turntable to perform the simulation basing on the coordinate conversion theory. The measuring simulation went on with the help of MATLAB software using different carrier attitude angles. It shows the maximal error in the sub astral point longitude and/or latitude is 0.00785 degrees when comparing with the STK results, certifying the validity of the models. The satellite attitude angles have influence on the angular velocity, the maximal azimuth angular velocity is 3.784 deg per sec, yet the elevation's is 0.6945 deg per sec when the attitude angles are all 20 degrees. This simulation process provides some guidance for designing, controlling and calibrating the space turntable.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the attitudes about home care services and to develop a reliable and valid measurement tool. This methodological study was carried out on 290 students studying at a school of health. Mary Albrecht’s nursing model for home health care, Jean Watson’s theory of human caring, and Leslie Jean Neal’s theory of home health nursing practice constituted the theoretical framework of the study. According to the results of the confirmatory factor analysis, obtained fit indices (x2/df = 1.91, root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA] = .057, normed fit index [NFI] = .80, comparative fit index [CFI] = .89, goodness-of-fit index [GFI] = .85) showed that the proposed model is appropriate for the scale. The Attitude Scale for Home Care (ASHC) consists of 3 subdimensions and 29 items. Cronbach’s alpha of the questionnaire was .93. Therefore, ASHC is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring attitudes about home care and can be used in selecting personnel to work in home care services.

Abstract:
Increasing populations in cities have created challenges for the urban environment and also public health. Today, lacking sport participation opportunities in urban settings is a global concern. This study conceptualizes and develops a theoretical framework that identifies factors associated with effective urban built environments that help shape and reshape residents’ attitude toward sport activities and enhances their participation. Based on a comprehensive review of literature and by following the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) theory and attitude change theory, a four-factor measurement model is proposed for studying urban built environment, including Availability, Accessibility, Design, and Safety. Further examinations are made on how these factors are channeled to transform residents’ attitudes and behavior associated with participating in sport activities, with Affordability as a moderator. Discussions are centered around the viability of the developed framework and its application for future research investigations.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to adopt stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory to reveal the impact of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on buying intentions of young consumers in the presence of hedonic brand attitude (HBA) and utilitarian brand attitude (UBA) as mediators, among smartphone customers in the context of brand fan pages in Facebook. Design/methodology/approach The paper uses a single cross-sectional design to survey a sample of 326 young online customers present in leading smartphone brand fan pages on Facebook in India. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data and replies were recorded on a Likert scale (five-point). The data was subjected to structural equation modelling for model and hypotheses testing. Findings eWOM has a significantly positive influence on the buying intentions of the young. Both HBA and UBA partially mediate the influence of eWOM on buying intentions. Research limitations/implications The study examines only the personal-oriented functions of attitude and does not investigate the role of social dimensions of attitudes. Its scope is confined to smartphones in the consumer electronics segment and only Facebook among social networking sites. Practical implications A theoretical contribution to eWOM literature is made by studying it under the lens of S-O-R theory and functional theory of attitudes. Measurement of two different dimensions of attitude, i.e. hedonic and utilitarian, may facilitate managers to comprehend the source of variance in consumers’ decision-making behaviour in the online context. Originality/value The only study to explore brand attitude as a mediator in its multi-dimensional form, in the context of social eWOM.

Abstract:
Financial literacy is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon. Thus, building a financial literacy measure has been a challenge. This study seeks to contribute to this scenario by proposing a Financial Literacy measure. The three dimensions suggested by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) are considered: financial education, financial attitude and financial behavior. For validation of the measurement, the questions were constructed and the instrument was applied in 1576 Brazilians, between November and December 2013. To evaluate the measurement, two models of the Item Response Theory were used, the unidimensional two-parameter logistic model for the Financial Knowledge scale and the Graded Response Model (GRM) for financial attitude and behavior. From the main items, five levels of financial literacy were constructed. The results pointed to the appropriateness of the proposed measure. The final instrument has thirteen questions of financial knowledge, six of financial attitude and twenty-four of financial behavior, which allow to identify the level of individual financial literacy in each of the three dimensions. From the ability scales, we found that 44.10% of respondents had average financial knowledge. In the attitude and behavior scales, the most representative level was also the median (ability between -0.5 and 0.5).

Abstract:
Because of the requirement of accurate measurement of projectile’s flying characteristics and limitations of the traditional attitude measuring methods, a new method based on three pairwise-orthogonal magnetic sensors only is presented for non-spinning projectiles. The characteristic ratio theory proposed in our earlier work is described in detail. In order to get the pitch angle with this theory, the mathematical relationship between magnetic sensors output and the theoretical extreme value is derived in this paper. Based on this relation, the extremum ratio method is expanded to be used in non-spinning projectiles. The measurement error of the attitude measuring method is also analyzed in theoy. At last, the simulation of the method is achieved under the given conditions to prove its effectiveness. The simulation experiment results indicate that the method is feasible and the calculating errors of the attitude angles are within ±1°.

Micro-electro-mechanical systems inertial measurement units (MEMS-IMUs) are increasingly being employed for measuring the attitude of bottom hole assemblies (BHAs). However, the reliability and measurement precision of a single MEMS-IMU may not meet drilling’s stringent needs. Redundant MEMS-IMU systems can effectively enhance the reliability and precision. This paper proposes a redundant configuration method for MEMS sensors tailored to BHA attitude measurement. Firstly, based on reliability theory and a cost-benefit analysis, considering factors such as cost, size, and reliability, the optimal number of sensors in the redundant system was determined to be six. Considering the structural characteristics of the BHA, a hollow hexagonal prism-shaped redundant configuration scheme was proposed, ensuring the circulation of drilling fluid within the drill pipe. Next, by employing Kalman filtering to integrate the output data from the six sensors, a virtual IMU (VIMU) was formed. Finally, experimental verification was carried out. The results confirmed that, after redundancy implementation, the velocity random walk of the accelerometer decreased by an average of 58% compared to a single MEMS-IMU, and bias instability was reduced by an average of 54%. The angular random walk of the gyroscope decreased by an average of 58%, and bias instability was reduced by an average of 37%. This research provides a theoretical foundation for enhancing the precision and reliability of BHA attitude measurements.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to present a methodology for better gauging the nature and dynamics of social and political attitudes. Starting from a particular view of attitude assessment, we show how computer-assisted interviewing can help transform the survey interview from a passive to an interactive process. Since the ultimate test of a methodological approach is its substantive yield, we shall present both specific measurement procedures and illustrative substantive results. The methodology itself, however, is quite general and readily applied to other substantive areas, thanks both to the generality of the theory of measurement of which it is a part and to the flexibility of the technology in which it is embedded.

Abstract:
PurposeThis research aims to investigate consumers' food waste prevention behaviour through the lens of an extended theory of planned behaviour. The extension includes the examination of the role of social media usage in affecting consumers' decision-making process of food waste prevention behaviour.Design/methodology/approachA survey questionnaire is developed based on measurement items of previously validated studies. 210 samples are collected and analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).FindingsThe results show that social media usage has a significant influence on attitude and injunctive norms. In addition, intention can be predicted by injunctive norms, moral norms and perceived behavioural control but not attitude. Lastly, the intention to reduce food waste is a significant predictor of food waste prevention behaviour.Originality/valueOverall, the extended theory of planned behaviour is useful in explaining consumers' food waste prevention behaviour. Interestingly, this study reveals that a negative attitude towards food waste behaviour does not translate into the intention to engage in food waste prevention behaviour. Furthermore, it is found that social media usage plays a significant in shaping consumers' attitudes towards food waste and injunctive norms.

Nowadays, almost all curricula in the social sciences contain at least one course in statistics, given the importance of this discipline as a basic knowledge to understand the modern world. It’s necessary reflects on the student’s attitude to statistics, because it’s could be an obstacle or an advantage in their learning process. To measure the student’s attitude and incentives about statistics, we use a test (Bayot et al., 2005), related to other ones which exists in the specialized literature, that identifies the latent factors relating to students’ motivation and attitude towards statistics. This paper describes the formal and metric characteristics of the non-parametric model of item response theory for the latent factors using an extension of Mokken scales analysis.

Objectives. We summarized technology acceptance and the influencing factors of elderly people toward socially assistive robots (SARs). Methods. A scoping review whereby a literature search was conducted in Embase, Cochrane, Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science databases (2006–2021) to retrieve studies. No restrictions on study methodology were imposed. Results. Out of the 1187 retrieved papers, 35 studies were finally included in the study. The articles covered various aspects, including general attitudes towards using SARs, technology acceptance theory models, and factors associated with technology acceptance. Twelve studies reported a positive attitude towards SARs. Three explicit theoretical frameworks were reported. Studies involving the elderly reported three themes that influence attitudes towards SARs: individual characteristics, concerns/problems regarding robots, and social factors. Conclusions. This review elucidates on the suitability of theory-based framework as applied to acceptance of SARs. We found that research on technology acceptance with regard to SARs is still in the developmental stages, and further studies of assessment tools for SARs are required. It is also essential to consider the factors that influence the acceptance of SARs by older people to ensure that they meet the end goal requirements of the user.

Abstract:
It is widely believed that entrepreneurial intention is a central concept within entrepreneurial education. Students who have entrepreneurial intentions tend to be self-employed and were not likely to be job seekers. Therefore, in the domain of entrepreneurial research, entrepreneurial intention is a critical issue in studying entrepreneurship. Objectives: The study examines the multidimensional model of theory of planned behavior and its prediction on entrepreneurial intention among university students. The premise of this theory is that individual attitude and behavior are complex processes in which multiple factors determine effectiveness. This study investigates whether this theory will be best described with a multidimensional construct or a single construct and how the relationship path of each dimension.Methodology: The study used a cross-sectional design. Data was distributed to 583 university students in the vocational program at Brawijaya University Indonesia. Data was analyzed using multi-group structural equation modeling in two steps: measurement model test and structural model test. The measurement model was used to test and validated the instrument at the latent variable level while Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to test the model.Finding: The study found entrepreneurial intention was established by a continuum construct: choice intention, commitment to entrepreneurship, and nascent entrepreneurship. Attitude toward entrepreneurship consists of two dimensions, affective and instrumental attitude. Perceived behavioral control comprises of self-efficacy and perceived controllability. Every dimension of entrepreneurial intention has a different relationship with the dimensions of attitude and perceived behavioral control with self-efficacy and affective attitude as the stronger predictor of entrepreneurial intention than instrumental attitude and perceived controllability. The association of choice intention on commitment and the effect of commitment on nascent entrepreneurship is larger among males rather than females. Conclusion: The study answered the necessity to conduct and test an empirical model of the multidimensional construct of planned behavior theory and entrepreneurship intention. By treating the model as multiple models, we proposed a new perspective of the best model that describes entrepreneurial behavior. Using structural equation modeling, this study reveals the different relationship paths of each dimension.

Abstract:
Discussion in the water literature has called for research on the role of behavioral intentions in explanations of both water demand and water conservation. But previous research has suggested that individual-level motivations are not good predictors of metered household water consumption. Two possible reasons for the lack of association between intentions and actual water conservation are that: (i) conservation behaviors are habitual and (ii) conservation behaviors and intention are measured at different levels of analysis. These explanations were tested in a sample of 415 residential households who provided permission to access their water consumption billing records. The effects of intentions, habit strength, and their interaction were examined in single-person households where the alignment of theory and measurement were the same. While behavioral intentions were associated with self-reports of past water conservation and habit strength, none of these variables were good predictors of water conservation. The implications of these results for the development of attitude theory using metered consumption data are discussed.

Abstract:
Purpose Technology acceptance is an incremental approach that has developed over the years. Taking technology acceptance or adoption literature into consideration, the paper aims to investigate the mediating role of adoption readiness, constructed on the basis of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), on the relationship between user resistance as well as user anxiety and attitude toward using a system. Design/methodology/approach In consideration of previous studies, the public personnel’s adaptation of electronic document management systems is within the scope of the present research. Gathering data from 262 administrative personnel working in a public university, explanatory and second-order confirmatory factor analyses were done for the UTAUT scale. In addition, reliability and construct validity were tested for each scale; UTAUT, user resistance, user anxiety and attitude toward using. Relationships among variables of the research were controlled by the measurement model and then the structural model was tested. Findings Confirming previous research, the scales of UTAUT, user resistance, user anxiety and attitude toward using were found to have acceptable reliability and internal consistency. In addition, the implications of the paper showed user resistance influenced attitude toward using indirectly, by affecting adoption readiness. It also indicated that adoption readiness fully mediated the relationship between user anxiety and attitude toward using. Originality/value Negative behavioral antecedents of UTAUT are the focus of the paper. Reducing the negative effects of resistance as well as anxiety of individuals on their attitudes using a system is emphasized in the technology acceptance literature. Furthermore, defining each dimension of UTAUT as a single construct, adoption readiness, and proving the intervening role of adoption readiness between user resistance, as well as anxiety, on the attitude toward using a system are contributions to the literature.

Abstract:
This paper presents a sensor fusion method for navigation of unmanned underwater vehicles. The method combines Lie theory into Kalman filter to estimate and compensate for the misalignment between the sensors: inertial navigation system and Doppler Velocity Log (DVL). In the process and measurement model equations, a 3-dimensional Euclidean group (SE(3)) and 3-sphere space (S3) are used to express the pose (position and attitude) and misalignment, respectively. SE(3) contains position and attitude transformation matrices, and S3 comprises unit quaternions. The increments in pose and misalignment are represented in the Lie algebra, which is a linear space. The use of Lie algebra facilitates the application of an extended Kalman filter (EKF). The previous EKF approach without Lie theory is based on the assumption that a non-differentiable space can be approximated as a differentiable space when the increments are sufficiently small. On the contrary, the proposed Lie theory approach enables exact differentiation in a differentiable space, thus enhances the accuracy of the navigation. Furthermore, the convergence and stability of the internal parameters, such as the Kalman gain and measurement innovation, are improved.

Abstract:
The study aims to develop a host community’s support model for tourism development based on the principles of Social Exchange Theory for heritage tourism destinations in a developing country. For the case study, three communities from the Puri region, a popular heritage tourism destination of eastern India, are selected. The survey instrument was a questionnaire survey, and 450 samples were collected. A scale was developed to measure the host community’s attitudes and perceptions. The measurement scale comprises seven factors: six exogenous factors: Economic Impact; Positive Socio-Cultural Impact; Development and Maintenance of Heritage and Infrastructure; Image of the Region; Negative Socio-Cultural Impact; Environmental Issues, and one endogenous factor: Support for Tourism Development. The structural relationship between exogenous factors and endogenous factors was examined through Structural Equation Modelling. The result confirmed that the perceived tourism impacts significantly influence the host community’s attitude. The findings suggest that when the host community perceives the positive tourism impacts, their support for tourism development gets influenced positively and vice versa. This confirms the explanatory power of the perceived tourism impacts to explain the host communities’ attitude toward tourism development and the applicability of Social Exchange Theory. However, the findings contradict Butler’s Tourism Area Life Cycle model in describing the host community’s attitude toward the destination in the development stage.

Abstract:
Background and Study Aim. Physical inactivity is a major public health concern, particularly among female college students in Saudi Arabia. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) suggests that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) are important predictors of behavioral intentions and behaviors. The aim of this study was to examine the role of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control in predicting physical activity intentions among female university students in Saudi Arabia, using the theory of planned behavior as a framework. Material and Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 758 female college students from the University of Hafr Al Batin in Saudi Arabia. The measurement tool consisted of Godin-Shephard questions on leisure-time physical activity and theory-planned behavior questionnaires. Results. The study found that perceived behavioral control and attitude were significant predictors of physical activity intentions among female college students. However, subjective norms did not have a significant impact on the predictor variable. Furthermore, there was a statistical effect to predict involvement in physical activity from physical activity intention among female college students.. Conclusions. The study's findings suggest that the theory of planned behavior is a useful framework for understanding and interpreting physical activity intentions among female college students in Saudi Arabia. Interventions that aim to increase perceived behavioral control and positive attitudes towards physical activity may be effective in promoting physical activity among this population.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the antecedents affecting digital piracy of movies, and evaluate them in the context of the theory of planned behaviour (TPB). It will also determine via a proxy measurement, if individuals’ intentions to engage in digital piracy will translate into actual engagement in digital piracy of movies. Design/methodology/approach – In all, 404 students at a large Western Australian University were surveyed using self-administered surveys. The data were analysed via a path analysis using structural equation modelling in order to identify the influences of antecedent factors on individual attitudes and intentions to engage in digital piracy. Finally, through the proxy measurement, actual engagement in digital piracy of movies was evaluated against consumer intentions to perform that behaviour. Findings – The results confirm the identified antecedents (affect, moral judgement, social habit and self-efficacy) as appropriate in evaluating an individual's intentions to engage in digital piracy of movies. The findings indicated that social habit, self-efficacy and attitude towards digital piracy had a positive effect on individual intentions to engage in digital piracy of movies. It also showed that affect is an antecedent factor to attitudes towards digital piracy but also directly influences individual intentions to engage in digital piracy. Moral judgement and social habits was also found to have negative and positive influences on an individual's engagement in digital piracy of movies. Practical implications – This study reinforces previous studies in showing that the neutralisation theory and TPB are effective in explaining attitudes towards digital piracy of movies and intentions to engage in it. It has also sought to ascertain if intentions to engage in digital piracy of movies would significantly influence behaviour to engage in digital piracy of movies via a proxy measurement. Originality/value – This study adds to the literature of piracy in software and music downloads. In terms of digital movies, this study uncovers other possible factors that may affect engagement in digital piracy of movies, which could serve as the basis for future research into the phenomenon of digital piracy.

Full text
Abstract:
Attitude determination using double-differenced GNSS carrier phase measurements is studied. A realistic stochastic model is employed to take the correlations among the double-differenced measurements into full consideration. Two important issues concerning iteratively solving the nonlinear least-squares attitude determination problem are treated, namely, the initial guess and the iteration scheme. An analytical and sub-optimal solution is employed to provide the initial guess. In this solution, the orthogonal and determinant constraints among the elements of the direction cosine matrix (DCM) of the attitude are firstly ignored, and hence a relaxed 3×3 matrix is estimated using the linear weighted least-squares method. Then a mathematically feasible DCM, i.e., orthogonal and with +1 determinant, is extracted from the relaxed matrix estimate, optimally in the sense of minimum Frobenius norm. This analytical initial guess estimation method can be used for all feasible cases, including some generated ones, e.g., the case with only 3 antennas and only 3 satellites, subject possibly to some necessary, yet minor modifications. In each iteration, an error attitude, whose DCM is parameterized using the Gibbs vector, is introduced to relate the previously estimated and the true DCM. By linearizing the measurement model at the zero Gibbs vector, the least-squares estimate of the Gibbs vector is obtained and then used to correct the previously estimated DCM. By repeating this process, the truly least-squares estimate of the attitude can be achieved progressively. These are in fact Gauss-Newton iterations. For the final estimate, the variance covariance matrix (VCM) of the attitude estimation error can be retained to evaluate or predict the estimation accuracy. The extraction of the widely used roll-pitch-yaw angles and the VCM of their additive estimation errors from the final solution is also presented. Numerical experiments are conducted to check the performance of the developed theory. For the case with 3 2-meter long and orthogonally mounted baselines, 5 visible satellites, and 5-millimeter standard deviations of the carrier phase measurements, the root mean squared errors (RMSE) of the roll-pitch-yaw angles in the analytical solution are well below 0.5 degrees, and the estimates converge after only one iteration, with all three RMSEs below 0.2 degrees.

Abstract:
Purpose: This study seeks to discover how customized smart beauty recognition can produce positive results, and to demonstrate that it affects brand attitudes and purchasing intentions of buyers. Pine & Gilmore's experience theory will be used as a basis for this study. This study focuses on customized cosmetics as a type of beauty product. Methods: Data were gathered from 255 women between the ages 20 and 40 from all over Korea. Different tools were used to analyze the data, including the SPSS WIN 21.0 program, Varimax for regression analysis, and Cronbach's α coefficient for reliability analysis. Differences in characteristics were conducted using a one-way-ANOVA, follow-up verification, and correlation analysis between variables and influence verification. Results: Customized cosmetics helped accurately diagnose and prescribe the consumer’s condition with measuring devices. The smart beauty service that the consumer’s experienced was face measurement and virtual makeup. In the future, the consumer ’s would like to experience the effect of skin care before and after skin condition measurement as a smart beauty service. Looking at the impact of Fine & Gilmore's theory of experience economy on brand attitude and purchase intention, the higher the educational experience (β=0.313), the more realistic the experience (β=0.195), the higher the aesthetic experience (β=.357) and the higher the brand attitude (β=0.667). The intention to purchase clearly increases with these positive experiences. Conclusion: This study concluded that although customized cosmetics are highly reliable but expensive, buyers still want to purchase them at a reasonable price. It was also discovered that smart beauty services want improvements in measurement errors, the reliability of the information provided, and the ability to perform additional comparative analysis. Moreover, like Pine & Gilmore's theory of experience economy, it was determined that the higher the satisfaction consumers have after their experience, the higher the brand image and the intention to purchase. We hope to use this theory as important information for continuing research in the beauty industry.

Abstract:
Finding the factors associated with the intention to buy apartments is essential for real estate enterprises. This study applies an extended theory of planned behavior (TPB) to explore Vietnamese consumers’ intentions to purchase flats. Besides the structure of the TPB, other determinants relevant to the research context were identified by reviewing the literature. The convenience sampling technique was used to collect 512 responses using the questionnaire. The covariance-based structural equation modeling was applied to test the measurement and structural models. The results revealed that perceived behavioral control was the most critical determinant of purchase intention, followed by financial factors, attitude toward a behavior, apartment features, and subjective norms. In addition, project facilities, perceived risk, financial factors, and apartment features indirectly affect purchase intention through attitude toward a behavior. Meanwhile, the relationship between project facilities and perceived risk with purchase intention is not statistically significant. Thus, attitude toward a behavior is essential in enhancing the consumers’ apartment purchase intention at this stage. The study implements a suitable model to analyze the intention to purchase apartments in a developing country by extending TPB. Abstract:
The hydraulic support is the key equipment of surrounding rock support in a stope, and thus monitoring the attitude of the hydraulic support has an important guiding role in the support selection, operation control and rock pressure analysis of the working face. At present, attitude monitoring technology for hydraulic support mainly includes inertial measurement, contact measurement and visual measurement. Aiming at the technical defects of imperfect attitude perception models, incomplete perception parameters and the low decision-making ability of such systems, the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) pressure sensor and the FBG tilt sensor are developed independently by combining with FBG sensing theory. The pressure sensitivity of the FBG pressure sensor is 35.6 pm/MPa, and the angular sensitivity of the FBG tilt sensor is 31.3 pm/(°). Additionally, an information platform for FBG sensing monitoring for hydraulic support attitude is constructed based on .NET technology and C/S architecture. The information platform realizes real-time monitoring, data management, report management, production information management and data querying of hydraulic support attitude monitoring data. An AdaBoost neural network hydraulic support working resistance prediction model is established using MATLAB. The AdaBoost neural network algorithm successfully predicts the periodic pressure of the coal mining face by training with the sample data of the working resistance of the hydraulic support. The predicting accuracy is more than 95%.

Abstract:
Long neglected in psychological research, money attitudes influence consumer decisionmaking and information processing, and may be active whenever consumers contemplate money situations or exchange relations. This study focused on the money attitudes of 221 urban South Africans whose standards of living are similar to those in industrialised Western countries. A recently developed pan-cultural theory on human values is used to gain insights into the fundamental motivations of money attitudes. The results suggest that money attitudes and value priorities have predictable and theoretically meaningful relations and provide evidence supporting the nomological validity of the revised Money Attitude Scale (MAS). Confirmatory analyses support the five-factor structure of the MAS scale and the hypothesised structure of the Portrait Values Questionnaire. Five new money attitudes are proposed for future research to broaden the scope of the MAS and refine its measurement.

Abstract:
There is no learning without mistakes. However, there is a clash between ‘positive attitudes and beliefs’ regarding learning processes and the ‘negative attitudes and beliefs’ toward these being accompanied by mistakes. This clash exposes a cognitive bias toward mistakes that might block personal and organizational learning. This study presents an advanced measurement method to assess the bias of mistakes. The essence of it is the detection of the existing contradictions between attitude and behavior toward mistakes at the personal and organizational levels, as well as combined. This study is based on empirical evidence from a sample of 768 knowledge workers, divided into biased and non-biased subsamples following the procedure proposed in this paper. Those subsamples were next applied to the structural model, examining knowledge, learning, and collaboration cultures (the KLC approach) 's influence on organizational intelligence to validate the proposed method. Results showed that the applied method efficiently detects the DBM and exposes that in doubly mistakes-biased knowledge-driven organizations, the influence of knowledge culture on the mistakes acceptance component of learning culture is negative. So, organizations with a dominated double bias of mistakes do not accept the affirmation of learning from mistakes. Summing up, this study constitutes the Double Bias of Mistakes Theory, which states that the clash between positive attitudes and beliefs regarding learning processes and negative attitudes and beliefs toward mistakes exposed by focusing on control managers (bosses) might block organizational learning from mistakes and, as a consequence, negatively affect organizational intelligence. Without the empirical support for this theory, there was a risk that the idea of accepting mistakes as a potential source of learning would be simplified by biased minds to mistakes tolerance and rejected as ridiculous. Accepting that mistakes can be a source of precious learning does not equal mistake tolerance. On the contrary, it is the first step to managing mistakes and creating efficient error avoidance systems thanks to lessons learned from failures. This study introduces the method of measurement and detection of the Double Bias of Mistakes phenomenon, contributing to the science of organizational learning and collective intelligence-building.

Abstract:
This article reports an adaptive sensor bias observer and attitude observer operating directly on [Formula: see text] for true-north gyrocompass systems that utilize six-degree-of-freedom inertial measurement units (IMUs) with three-axis accelerometers and three-axis angular rate gyroscopes (without magnetometers). Most present-day low-cost robotic vehicles employ attitude estimation systems that employ microelectromechanical system (MEMS) magnetometers, angular rate gyros, and accelerometers to estimate magnetic attitude (roll, pitch, and magnetic heading) with limited heading accuracy. Present-day MEMS gyros are not sensitive enough to dynamically detect the Earth’s rotation, and thus cannot be used to estimate true-north geodetic heading. Relying on magnetic compasses can be problematic for vehicles that operate in environments with magnetic anomalies and those requiring high-accuracy navigation as the limited accuracy ([Formula: see text] error) of magnetic compasses is typically the largest error source in underwater vehicle navigation systems. Moreover, magnetic compasses need to undergo time-consuming recalibration for hard-iron and soft-iron errors every time a vehicle is reconfigured with a new instrument or other payload, as very frequently occurs on oceanographic marine vehicles. In contrast, the gyrocompass system reported herein utilizes fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) IMU angular rate gyro and MEMS accelerometer measurements (without magnetometers) to dynamically estimate the instrument’s time-varying true-north attitude (roll, pitch, and geodetic heading) in real-time while the instrument is subject to a priori unknown rotations. This gyrocompass system is immune to magnetic anomalies and does not require recalibration every time a new payload is added to or removed from the vehicle. Stability proofs for the reported bias and attitude observers, preliminary simulations, and a full-scale vehicle trial are reported that suggest the viability of the true-north gyrocompass system to provide dynamic real-time true-north heading, pitch, and roll utilizing a comparatively low-cost FOG IMU.

Abstract:
The fresh fish consumption behaviour has been attracting the previous researchers. Unfortunately, few studies based on Indonesia were held by the researchers. Due to the lack of the previous study, the purposes of the study are to investigate the influence of attitudes, control of perceived behaviour, and subjective norm on intention to consume fish, and to examine the relationship of the fish consumption intention with consumption behaviour. The study applies plan behaviour theory to understand the raised phenomena in this paper. The number of respondents participated in this study is fifty-five. SEM-PLS is used to analysis data supported by assessment of measurement and structural model as the smart-pls procedure. The results indicate that there is a positive effect of attitude toward behaviour on intention to consume fish. Besides, fish consumption intention also has a significant association with consume behaviour. However, the effect of the norm and control of perceived behaviour on fish consumption intention is not significant. This finding confirms the theory of plan behaviour. Practically, this finding shows implicitly that to increase the fish behaviour consumption, the intention to consume fish and attitude toward fish consume behaviour should be increased.
