Abstract:
The objective of this research is to exam the existence of an attachment bond of the younger towards his elder and to show that the elder can be qualified tutor for his younger in a situation of tutoring interaction and lastly, characterize the sibling relationships. We evaluated on a population of 40 siblings (elder : 4-9 years ; younger : 3-4 years) the quality of the sibling attachment bond using an adaptation of story completion task procedure. The elder representation of their sibling relationships is measured with the Sibling Relationships Questionnaire. Lastly, the tutorial interactions within the sibling were observed using a categorization test. Main results highlight that the elder is a "relay attachment figure" for his younger and establishes with him a "relation of proximity-exploratory". The sibling tutorial is characterized by direct assistances and sister use a "guiding supervision" whereas brother use a "freedom supervision". Lastly, there is a modulating tendency of elder representation on the sibling relationships on the existing sibling attachment bond and sibling tutorial interactions
