Abstract:

In the Ogino area of Atsugi City, where the Kanagawa Institute of Technology is located, Japanese drums are being practiced and the arts are inherited in order to perform at events such as Japanese festivals. It may be reported. Therefore, in Atsugi City, when the main purpose is to practice Japanese drums, the practice place is restricted, such as not being able to obtain permission to use the facilities of the city. In order to solve such a problem, we performed acoustic measurement of Japanese drums and clarified their acoustic characteristics. It was confirmed that the sound near the drum due to the repellent impact of the Nagado daiko has a lot of energy even in the low frequency component of 200 Hz or less, and the magnitude of the radiated sound SEL increases as the sound is hit harder. It is also difficult for local governments to take physical noise countermeasures for membranophones from a cost perspective. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this research was to obtain a solution to the noise problem by social measures to continue the succession activities of traditional musical instruments such as Japanese drums, which are difficult to take measures against physical noise. Launched and operated a website to understand the current state of noise complaints and to collect the voices of local residents regarding the sound of drums according to the lifestyle and situation of each individual as part of the Noise Compatibility Planning attempt. We built the system.

Abstract:

Full-night polysomnography (PSG) examination is regarded as the gold standard for the diagnosis of sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHS). However, PSG requires the placement of multiple sensors on the head, face, and chest, which can impose a heavy strain on patients. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to develop a contact-free, stand-alone SAHS screening system that eliminates body movement artifacts based on automatic optimization of the hypopnea threshold. Doppler radar sensors were placed beneath a mattress. In order to achieve high sensitivity and specificity, the hypopnea was based on the average amplitude of respiration during the full sleep period. The threshold was determined via receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis using PSG as a reference. We conducted full-night clinical tests of the proposed system in 27 patients with suspected SAHS (49 ± 12 years) at Tomei Atsugi Hospital. When predicting the severity of SAHS with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of >30/h using PSG as a reference, the proposed system achieved a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 100%. These results represent a drastic improvement over those of our previous study (sensitivity: 90%; specificity: 79%).

Abstract:

Background Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of acute respiratory infection in children. One of the most important strategies for treatment of an RSV infection is to decide whether the patient needs respiratory support. This study aimed to assess the validity and clinical benefit of the Global Respiratory Severity Score (GRSS) and the Wang bronchiolitis severity score (WBSS) for clinical decision-making regarding providing respiratory support (high-flow nasal cannula, nasal continuous positive airway pressure, or ventilator) in infants with an RSV infection. Study design and methods This retrospective cohort study enrolled 250 infants aged under 10 months who were admitted to Atsugi City Hospital with an RSV infection between January 2012 and December 2019. The utility of these scores was evaluated for assessing the need for respiratory support through decision curve analysis by calculating the optimal GRSS and WBSS cut-offs for predicting the need for respiratory support. Results Twenty-six infants (10.4%) received respiratory support. The optimal cut-offs for the GRSS and the WBSS were 4.52 and 7, respectively. Decision curve analysis suggested that the GRSS was a better predictive tool than the WBSS if the probability of needing respiratory support was 10–40%. Conclusions The GRSS was clinically useful in determining the need for respiratory support in infants aged under 10 months with an RSV infection.

Abstract:

Followers of the Warren Commission’s findings continue to accept Lee Harvey Oswald as the assassin of President Kennedy. Deniers of the Warren Commission’s findings take a contrary view. Herein, the view is that Oswald had involvement with the assassination--- but that involvement was an attempt to stop the assassination. Oswald’s life is explored, focusing on his military service in Japan until his own death on November 24, 1963. Particular emphasis is placed on the writings Ernst Titovets (Oswald’s time in Russia); Judyth Baker (the summer of 1963 in New Orleans); Dick Russell’s writing of the experiences of Richard Case Nagell (in Atsugi Japan, 1957; and in Mexico City, New Orleans and El Paso, 1963); and Douglas Horne, on the medical evidence in the assassination. These writers correct the record of Oswald’s life. Baker shows Oswald’s continuing relations with Jack Ruby and David Ferrie, persons that were supposedly not known to Oswald. Baker clearly points out Oswald’s involvement in the project that aimed to eliminate Fidel Castro with a bio-weapon (a fast acting cancer). Russell shows the importance of Richard Case Nagell with Oswald. Horne elucidates the many missteps in the medical evidence in JFK’s autopsy. During Lyndon Johnson’s presidency (in 1965), a law was passed naming all materials involved in the JFK assassination were owned by the federal government. Christopher Fulton was the only person convicted under this statute, sentenced to 8 ½ years in prison, This occurred March 19, 1999.

In 2005, a U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Committee agreed to shift the Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) homeport from Atsugi Naval Air Station (NAS), Japan, to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (MCASI), Japan, in 2016. Currently the 35 mile distance between Atsugi, where the air wing is based and Yokosuka, where the carrier is docked, does not constitute a significant burden to the supply chain. However, when CVW-5 F/A-18 Hornets are repositioned to MCAS Iwakuni, it will significantly impact transportation costs due to the additional 542-mile distance to move Tool/IMRL assets to the carrier for air wing embarkation. In the same timeframe of the air wing home port transition, the composition of the air wing will be evolving to become the Navys first unit comprised of all Hornet variant aircraft. This analysis tries to determine the cost savings that may be involved with consolidation of Tool/IMRL outfitting allowances. Additionally, the analysis shows that MCAS Iwakuni may bring further asset exploitation opportunities due to the Marine Hornet squadrons already based there, whereas Atsugi has no Hornet presence other than CVW-5.

Abstract:

Chapter Three shows how documentary film was a rich and chaotic site for nationalist, imperialist, and anti-imperialist experimentation. Introducing the female documentarian Atsugi Taka (1907-98) as a guide, the chapter demonstrates the development of the genre and show how practitioners worked within and around official ideologies and the restrictive media-scape. Atsugi is well-known for her translation of the theoretical treatise Documentary Film (1935) by British producer and theorist Paul Rotha. The book attracted an unexpectedly wide audience in Japan during WWII when documentary as genre flourished. Atsugi’s own films also present a tangled, complicated site of production where she navigated the gender politics of filmmaking and everyday life, state suppression of socialist and proletarian movements, and the problems of adapting socialist British theory to actual filmmaking in totalitarian Japan.
