ABSTRACT A meticulous impression is paramount for a precision fit of indirect restoration. Unfortunately, for many clinicians, making an impression for fixed prostheses is one of the challenging aspects in restorative dentistry. Advances in elastomeric chemistries have given birth to a new generation of impression materials: a combination of a polyvinyl and a polyether impression material, called vinyl siloxane ether. The purpose of this article is to explore the new impression material which is effective and efficient to obtain predictable, accurate, high quality impressions in dental practice. Abstract:
Impression of helpers can vary as a function of the magnitude of helping (amount of help) and of situational and motivational aspects (type of help). Over three studies conducted in Sweden and the US, we manipulated both the amount and the type of help in ten diverse vignettes and measured participants’ impressions of the described helpers. Impressions were almost unaffected when increasing the amount of help by 500%, but clearly affected by several type of help-manipulations. Particularly, helpers were less positively evaluated if they had mixed motives for helping, did not experience intense emotions or empathy, or if helping involved no personal sacrifice. In line with the person-centered theory of moral judgment, people seem to form impressions of helpers primarily based on the presumed underlying processes and motives of prosociality rather than its consequences.

The current trend is the introduction of antimicrobial agents for the purpose of inhibiting or avoiding (adherence) adhesion and (increasing) the multiplication of their microorganisms on the surface of the impression materials. This study aims to determine the properties of antibacterial and antifungal elastic impression materials in full agreement with (bacterial flora) microflora specific for every patient ( with identification of existing species ). In the same time there are considered modern methods of sterilization and insertion of antiseptics, trajectories with profound impact in the field of biocompatibility. The obtained microorganisms were transplanted on differentiated and selective (differentiated) culture medium in order to obtain pure cultures. Each microbial strain obtained was tested to identify several characteristics. The examinations carried out by means of the electron microscopy very accurately detect the microbial load in the structure of the impression materials, sounding an alarm signal on its use in particular clinical situations. Alginates present in their structure polysaccharide structures that represent an excellent substrate of microorganisms.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to examine how the work of the United Nations (UN) nurtures hybridised constructs of indigeneity, especially through the activities of the United Nations’ Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII). This article surveys particular aspects of the literature relating to cultural and indigenous hybridisation, and then applies this to the activities of the UNPFII as a means of interpreting the contribution of the organisation’s work and objectives to portrayals of indigeneity, drawing in the experiences New Zealand’s indigenous Maori as a case study. It concludes that the UNPFII—as a globalising agent—simultaneously promotes the rights of indigenous peoples while masking many of the cultural differences between its constituent members, resulting in a broad conception presented to outsiders of a single, hybridised indigeneity in the international sphere, which is defined and only exists in the hegemonic space created by the UN.

Abstract:
This research examines impression management strategies high-ranking organizational executives employ to create an identity for themselves and their companies via executive authored Weblogs (blogs). This study attempts to identify specific patterns of impression management strategies through a deductive content analysis applying Jones' (1990) taxonomy of self-presentation strategies to this particular type of computer mediated communication. Sampling for this study (n=227) was limited to blogs solely and regularly authored by the highest-ranking leaders of Fortune 500 companies. The study revealed that executive bloggers frequently employed impression management strategies aimed at currying competency attributes (self-promotion), likeability (ingratiation), and moral worthiness (exemplification) to construct and shape a positive identify for themselves and their organization for their publics. Supplication strategies were used less frequently, while intimidation strategies were rarely used.

Abstract:
This thesis explored MySpace and Facebook, two popular social networking sites (SNS), from the perspectives of the uses and gratification model and impression management theory. As a qualitative exploratory study, this thesis had three objectives. First, it investigated why young people use SNS. Second, it sought to discover how members use SNS for self-presentation. Finally, it aimed to contribute to the current body of literature and serve as a basis for future qualitative and quantitative studies on SNS. The focus groups that were conducted for this thesis elicited ten themes that provided insights on the motivations and behaviors of individuals who use SNS for needs fulfillment and impression management. These themes included: 1) efficient communication, 2) convenient communication, 3) curiosity of others, 4) popularity, 5) relationship formation and reinforcement, 6) self-enhancement, 7) otherenhancement, 8) self-disclosure, 9) conformity and 1 0) identity-management. Based on the first five themes, the study suggested that an emerging theory of instant gratification is being developed. The theory helps researchers explain why young people use SNS and predict what factors motivate young people to get ,_ involved heavily in SNS. Based on the second five themes, this study confirmed the relevance of Goffi:nan's theories of the presentation of the self in explaining how young people manage their impressions through SNS. As a powerful socialization agent, SNS provide new opportunities and diverse ways of presenting one's self online. Though there are some evident differences between online and face-to-face social interaction, it is clear that Goffman's theories will continue to help researchers explain self-presentation within the context of SNS.

Abstract:
The study aims to investigating how design solutions can help first-time users to gain a better understanding of how digital primary care works. The concept of onboarding is central to this study and the scientist Cardoso's onboarding framework. Onboarding describes a learning process where the user is introduced to the service so that he or she can use it and become an active user. In order to complete the study, an explorative approach has been made. The study has been divided into three parts; a preliminary study, a design phase and a valuation phase. A total of 17 participants have been recruited. The study resulted in three different prototypes that participant tested. The result of the study showed that the participants' knowledge gap about how the doctor visit works on a digital primary care application was filled with an introduction - an onboarding.

This thesis explores the idea of a liminal space, as being dreamlike, suspended in time and physically unlocatable. It questions and exploits the boundary between abstraction and figuration in painting. This investigation has been considered from a subjective viewpoint allowing a distancing of space to illuminate new perceptions and experiences through the language of painting. The project has sought to explore the relationship between the natural world and seeing, to deepen and emphasize the other worldliness of an in-between space. This third space has been evoked by a process of abstracting pictorial content, juxtaposition of elements, colour and composition. The thesis is constituted of practice-based 80%, accompanied by an exegesis 20%.

Abstract:
Using the framework of attribution theory, the variables of age of professors, formality of dress of professors, and class of student were tested for their influence on college students' expectations of the teaching effectiveness of college professors in a first impression situation. A rating questionnaire containing ten positive professors' traits was developed. An older male and a younger male were photographed in black-and-white in three outfits, for a total of six photographs. The sample consisted of two groups: 179 freshmen and 175 seniors. Each student was randomly assigned one of the six photographs to rate. A Pearson correlation of the ten traits revealed two groups of closely related traits plus some miscellaneous traits. One group represented competence and one represented approachability. A multivariate analysis of variance indicated that the factors of age and formality were significant. Overall, the older professor rated significantly higher than the younger. The older professor received higher scores on knowledge, preparation, and organization, while the younger professor received a higher score on sympathy toward students. The lowest formality rated the highest of the three levels, with the moderate level receiving the lowest score. The lowest level rated significantly higher on clarity of communication. This trait had the highest negative association with formality. The highest and lowest level rated significantly higher for well-prepared. The older professor in the lowest formality of dress rated the highest of all six photographs. The factor of class was not significant. There were no significant two- or three-way interactions. Overall, results indicate that older males are expected to be more effective professors than younger males. Evidently age gives an impression of experience. Casual dress conveys the best impression. Perhaps students can relate more to professors when professors are dressed more like them.

Abstract:
3D printing is a technology that allows the production of an object by additions of materials layers by layers. This technology has many applications in healthcare: bio-printing of tissues and organs, manufacture of medicines or production of customised medical devices. Over the last fifteen years, the production of anatomical models, surgical guides and implants adapted to the patient's anatomy has grown exponentially in all surgical domains. Nevertheless, the question of its clinical and economic evaluation remains unanswered. The objective of this work is to propose several recommendations for designing an economic evaluation model that would take into account the numerous specificities of this technology. We underlined that existing models are not suitable for evaluating a 3D printed device, in particular by highlighting the importance of organisational impact assessment. Thus, we suggested ten key recommendations to be taken into account when designing a study model for 3D printed medical devices

Abstract:

se sentir coupable et ne pas être en colère ;

se sentir coupable et être en colère ;

ne pas se sentir coupable ni être en colère ;

Conclusions

Abstract:
Following the call for further research on the consumer perspective of corporate ethics, this research sets out to explore and conceptualize the construct of ‘Consumer Perceived Ethicality’ (CPE), referring to consumers’ aggregate and valenced perceptions of a subject’s(i.e. a company, brand, product, or service) ethicality. Results present novel insights into how positive/negative CPE is formed and impacted by various kinds of corporate conduct, thereby offering some explanations as to why some companies benefit from positive while others suffer from negative moral equity.

The scope of this thesis is to reveal the hidden dimensions of fashion. With the aim to stress the worth of participation and the individual experience of fashion. This work is questioning what we see, and later what is actually there. Through a thorough investigation of the knit technique the relationship of loop and thread (pause and activity) is the focus of this paper. Enhancing the significant qualities of the knitted technique, where material and shape is born simultaneously, the result presented holds a variety of results. With the aim to discuss multiple dimensions this knit investigation is presented in a fashion context. Styled with technical sportswear this work is challenging knitwear -as well as sportswear. By clashing sports connotated materials with the knitted wool, both fields are expanded and new options and expression are presented. The motive of this investigation is to further state the worth of fashion. To create a space for the experience of fashion, stating the various result that is not depending on the presentation on body. This work questions the pre-set truths and conventions of what fashion could be, and our ability to judge what is presented for us.

Yoshida, Hideo. "Wide Variety of Possible Applications of Micro-Thermofluid Control." In ASME 2004 2nd International Conference on Microchannels and Minichannels. ASMEDC, 2004. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/icmm2004-2327.

Full text
Abstract:
The possible applications of micro-thermofluid control are overviewed, mainly on the basis of the total of seventeen proceedings of IEEE International Workshops or Conferences on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems held since 1987. The contents consist of three aspects. The first is thermofluid control in microsystems; particularly, the attention is focused on the various types of micropumps. The second is thermofluid control in miniaturized thermofluid machines such as a microturbine and a microcooler. The third is micro-thermofluid control for conventional-sized flow phenomena such as turbulent shear flows and a flapping-wing micro-aerial vehicle. The author stresses that, in this field, considerable advances have been achieved by relatively young researchers with various backgrounds other than the classical theromofluid dynamics, and many challenging works are in progress which will lead to new possibilities in the field of thermofluid dynamics. Also, the author has gained the impression that the researchers’ byword has recently changed from “what can MEMS research do?” to “what should MEMS research do?”

Abstract:
In this paper, a questionnaire-based survey on the use of online videos by undergraduate engineering students for study-related purposes is presented. Over the last few years, a large number of instructional videos has been uploaded to websites such as YouTube. Due to the widespread distribution of high-speed internet connections and (mobile) devices, such as smartphones or laptops, which are nowadays routinely used by students, online videos are also frequently used in higher education. While much research on this subject focuses on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) or flipped classroom approaches, this survey examines use of videos for self-study, complementary to traditional face-to-face courses. Furthermore, we analyze the acceptance of a characteristic video production style, which uses specific 3D animations to clarify complex connections between technical and mathematical aspects. The results indicate extensive use of short videos which address subjects that are particularly difficult for the students. This survey can help educators to develop an impression of current video use by undergraduate engineering students. In ASME 2014 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference collocated with the JSME 2014 International Conference on Materials and Processing and the 42nd North American Manufacturing Research Conference. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/msec2014-4158.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper presents fabrication of tapered, high aspect ratio bio mimetic cilia from Nickel-polydimethyl siloxane (Ni-PDMS) composite by using bulk lithography technique and ceramic molding. Many research groups suggested fabrication of bio mimetic cilia using various techniques which are based on soft lithography and VLSI techniques. Recently a novel single layer micro fabrication technique known as ‘bulk lithography’ which uses an unconstrained photopolymer has been reported by co-authors. This technique is used to fabricate a polymer cilia pattern (an array of photopolymerised inverted cone profile) and using this pattern a ceramic green body is fabricated by slip casting technique. An aqueous suspension containing sub micron size alumina is used to cast ceramic green body. After casting this cilia pattern makes negative impression of tapered holes on green ceramic body. During sintering of green ceramic body the polymer burns off resulting in ceramic mould with tapered holes imprinted on it. This mold retains shape of a tapered hole though it shrinks in size after sintering. This mold is used further to cast Ni-PDMS composite in the form of cilia structures.

Motah, Mahendrenath. "Study of the Influence of Multiple Intelligences and the use of Soft Skills in Project Write-up among IT and Non-IT Students: A Research Paper." In InSITE 2007: Informing Science + IT Education Conference. Informing Science Institute, 2007. http://dx.doi.org/10.28945/3096.

Full text
Abstract:
The present work is a follow-up of the papers presented at the Northern Arizona University, USA - “Accommodating soft skills in Software project Management” and the one presented at Salford University, Manchester, UK - “ The ontogeny of memory of learning: Natural Intelligence versus Artificial Intelligence in Information Technology Education”. Several interrogations cropped up during and after the presentation of the second paper, particularly on the conclusions, if any, that could have been drawn on the effects of soft skills, intelligence and intelligences; and if the next step would be to further investigate the impact of these on Information Technology Education. The impression that there was an urgent need to delve deeper into these factors and to find out their importance from the point of view of information technology education and other non IT fields lingered on for an appreciable length of time. In order to reply to the various unavoidable questions that arose from an analysis of the hypothetical aspects introduced in the above mentioned papers, we have tried to look into the influence of the factors related to the concepts of soft skills and intelligence in educational endeavours. In order to have an in-depth appreciation of the importance of these factors, we have solicited the involvement of both IT and Non-IT students reading in the fields of Administration and Management and Information Technology. Finding out the importance and the influence of soft skills and intelligence or intelligences became an obsession which resulted in an interesting and passionate exercise with the involvement of nearly two hundred students. We believe that, sharing the results of our findings with other colleagues would arouse further interests and trigger other more interesting research in the field.

Catros, S. "A quoi servent les Bio-Imprimantes 3D ?" In 66ème Congrès de la SFCO. Les Ulis, France: EDP Sciences, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.1051/sfco/20206601012.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
A comprehensive field data collection campaign is reported on in which operational data are being obtained from microturbine generators located in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD). The data obtained are archived in a SQL database, which provides the ability to look at various performance aspects as a function of many parameters interactively on the Internet. An overview of the program is provided along with details regarding the data collection and archiving strategies. To provide a framework relative to optimal operation of these systems in the region, economics associated with various operational schedules as a function of various rate structures in Southern California are provided. In addition to quantitative operational characteristics and performance results, some general end-user impressions of the technology and of the overall installation process are also documented. Details from three representative sites are presented.
