Previous issue date: 2008<br>Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico<br>O termo vírus de computador pode ser utilizado para definir de maneira geral qualquer programa que possua intenções maliciosas. É de interesse que, desde grandes empresas até usuários domésticos, exista proteção contra tais ameaças virtuais. A informação atualmente é vista como um bem muito valioso e de total importãncia. Existem vários casos de prejuízos causados devido a danos em informação confidenciais de empresas. Os ataques de vírus visam prejudicar de alguma forma esse patrimônio, seja danificando-o, por remoção ou alteração, ou até mesmo roubando-o e em alguns casos seqüestrando-o. Diversas medidas de segurança podem ser adotadas com o objetivo de proteger a informação, como é o caso de realização de cópias de segurança. Umas das medidas mais utilizadas para prevenir os ataques de vírus ainda consiste nos programas de detecção de vírus que funcionam através da análise do código de máquina dos executáveis. Com o intuito de enganar os programas de antivírus os criadores de vírus estão sempre criando novas versões de seus vírus com modificações em seus códigos, fazendo com que a taxa de detecção dos antivírus seja reduzida para vírus desconhecidos. Visando resolver este problema nosso trabalho propõe ASAT, uma ferramenta para detecção de novos vírus que funciona baseada em estatísticas calculadas utilizando o código de máquina de arquivos executáveis. O trabalho inclui também uma comparação dos resultados obtidos por ASAT com o desempenho de ferramentas de antivírus comerciais

Hintergrund und Fragestellung: Weiter steigende Raten des Konsums psychotroper Substanzen und klinisch bedeutsamer Substanzstörungen vor allem bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen, veränderte Gebrauchs- und Problemkonstellationen der Konsumentengruppen und die Einführung neuer Therapien und Versorgungsmodelle (Prävention, Frühintervention, Therapie und Rehabilitation) erfordern insbesondere angesichts der begrenzten Finanz- und Versorgungsressourcen neue Bedarfs- und Allokationsmodelle. Diese sollen praxisnah und effizient zu entscheiden helfen wann, bei welchen Rahmenbedingungen, welche Interventionsart und -strategie die individuell erfolgversprechendste ist. Diese Fragen werden in einem Forschungsprojekt des Suchtforschungsverbundes ASAT bearbeitet, das in einer umschriebenen Region mittels schrittweiser, epidemiologisch basierter Bedarfsund Bedürfnisanalysen die Ableitung und Priorisierung von institutionellen und therapeutischen Zuordnungsstrategien untersucht. Methodik: Basierend auf einem prospektiv-epidemiologischen Design wurden (1) bei einer repräsentativen regionalen Bevölkerungsstichprobe (EDSP-Studie) Inzidenzmuster, Spontanverlauf, Risikofaktoren und Konsequenzen des Substanzgebrauchs, -missbrauchs und der -abhängigkeit sowie Inanspruchnahmeverhalten, gedeckter und ungedeckter Bedarf beurteilt. (2) Ergänzt wird diese Erhebung durch eine Gesamterfassung und Evaluation des regionalen Suchthilfesystems. (3) Über statistische Analysen von Verläufen und Suchthilfeangeboten in der Region sollen "natürliche" Allokationsprozesse dargestellt und "outcome"-orientiert bewertet werden. (4) Anhand der dabei sichtbaren Mängel und Defizite können dann zusammen mit den Einrichtungen verbesserte Allokationsrichtlinien für einzelne sowie Gruppen von Patienten abgeleitet werden. Die Ergebnisse sollen in das regionale Suchhilfesystem übertragen werden. Ergebnisse und Diskussion: Erste Ergebnisse des Projekts bestätigen die Möglichkeit, Risikogruppen über spezifische Verlaufsanalysen zu identifizieren (z.B. regelmäßige Cannabiskonsumenten, Mehrfachkonsumenten, mehr weibliche Konsumenten mit einem höherem Abhängigkeitsrisiko). These models should provide a rational basis for the improvement of allocation processes as well as setting priorities in the provision and restructuring of community and patientoriented interventions. In the present paper, we will present a project of the ASAT research network program which aims at a multi-staged, integrated epidemiology-based need and program evaluation in an area to determine institutional and therapeutical allocation processes. Methods: Based on a prospective epidemiological design, (1) prevalence and incidence, risk factors and course of substance use, abuse and dependence are investigated in a representative sample of the community-based EDSP study. Additionally, helpseeking behaviors, met and unmet need are assessed. (2) The investigation is supplemented by a survey of all substance use services in the area. (3) Course of substance use and service provision of substance use services in the area will be analyzed and reviewed to identify natural allocation processes and to determine the outcome. (4) With the knowledge of deficits and unmet need, improved allocation guidelines for specific groups of clients and patients will be developed. The results will be transferred into the regional health care system. Results and discussion: First results show that the identification of new risk groups with the help of course typologies is possible. The patterns of help-seeking point to a high rate of unmet need, especially with regard to the targeted early intervention, and a need of alternative allocation models. After the assessment and the overall data analyses, need evaluations and several alternative allocation models based on the clients'/patients' perspective will be provided

Preanalytiska faktorer såsom provhantering och förvaring utgör den vanligaste felkällan inom laboratoriemedicin, vilket tyder på bristande kunskap kring faktorer som påverkar provers stabilitet. ALAT, ASAT och bilirubin är markörer för utvärdering och behandling inom leverdiagnostik, varpå tillförlitliga provsvar är av stor vikt.Syfte: Att granska tidigare studier och göra en sammanställning av stabiliteten för ALAT, ASAT och bilirubin vid olika typer av förvaring innan och efter centrifugering, olika centrifuginställningar, samt i rör med olika tillsatser.Metod: En allmän litteraturstudie gjordes genom systematisk sökning och bearbetning av vetenskapliga artiklar relaterade till syftet.Resultat: Studierna om analytstabilitet hos centrifugerade prover hade en stor spridning mellan resultaten som kan förklaras av studiernas olika upplägg, främst med tanke på att de pågick under olika lång tid. Gällande jämförelse av provrör skiljde det som mest fem dagar mellan PST och Barricor-rör i en av studierna. Studierna om centrifugering visade inte på någon skillnad i stabilitet med de inställningar av centrifugalkraft och tid som användes.Slutsats: Bristen på studier med liknande studiedesign gör det svårt att dra några säkra slutsatser kring stabiliteten vid olika förvaring. Resultatet antyder att varken olika rörtillsatser, centrifuginställningar eller fördröjd centrifugering upp till 24 timmar påverkar stabiliteten för ALAT, ASAT eller bilirubin.<br>Preanalytical factors such as specimen handling are the most common source of error in laboratory medicine, suggesting a lack of knowledge about factors affecting sample stability. ALAT, ASAT and bilirubin are markers that underlie evaluation and treatment in liver diagnostics, therefore reliable test answers are of great importance.Objective: To review previous studies and compile the stability of ALAT, ASAT and bilirubin for different storage before and after centrifugation, different centrifuge settings, and in tubes with different additives.Method: A literature review was done through systematic search and processing of scientific articles related to the objective.Results: The studies on analyte stability of centrifuged samples showed great variance between the results, mainly due to the studies lasting for different lengths of time. One study comparing test tubes showed a five day difference for ASAT between PST and Barricor tubes. Centrifugation studies showed no difference in stability with the centrifugal settings used.Conclusion: The lack of studies with similar study designs makes it difficult to draw any certain conclusions about the stability in different storage conditions. The result suggests that neither different tube additives, centrifuge settings nor delayed centrifugation up to 24 hours affect the stability of ALAT, ASAT or bilirubin.

Multiple choice testing has been introduced as an assessment instrument in almost all educational systems during the past twenty years. A growing body of research seems to indicate that tests structured to a multiple choice format favour males. In the ACT, Queensland and Western Australia, a
multiple choice examination known as ASAT was used to moderate student scores. Using data from the 1989 ASAT Paper 1, as well as data from the ACT Year 12 cohort of that year, an investigation was made of the items in the ASAT paper. This investigation attempted to identify specific types of questions that enabled males, on average, to perform better than females. Questions, which had a statistically significant difference between the results of males and
females, were examined further. An ASAT unit was given to students to complete and their answers to a questionnaire concerning the unit were taped and analysed.
The study found that males performed better, on average, than females on the 1989 ASAT Paper 1. The mean difference in the quantitative questions was much greater than in the verbal
questions. A number of factors appear to contribute to the difference in performance between males and females. A statistically significant number of females study Mathematics
at a lower level, which appears to contribute to females lower quantatitive scores. Females seem to be considerably more anxious about taking tests and this anxiety remains throughout
a multiple choice test. Females lack confidence in their ability to achieve in tests and are tentative about "risktaking" which is an element of multiple choice tests. The language of the test and male oriented content may contribute to females' negative performance in multiple choice testing.

Área de Especialização: Relações Internacionais<br>Numa forma geral, este estudo pretende ser um relatório actualizado da
percepção do Espaço enquanto elemento que dinamiza a discussão Política e Militar.
De forma específica, pretende-se antes de mais nesta dissertação perceber em
que pé se encontra a construção da Teoria Militar Espacial de forma a poder partir-se
posteriormente para o caso específico das Relações entre a China e os Estados Unidos
da América (EUA), na medida em que se tem em conta o papel determinante destes
últimos no âmbito da Exploração Espacial. O estudo será predominantemente político e
baseado nas noções de que o potencial de conflito entre as duas Nações coexiste com
uma co-dependência política e económica criada ao longo das últimas décadas. Seguida
a análise destes factores, pretende-se perceber adicionalmente quais as perspectivas
susceptíveis de sobreviverem no futuro e se são ou não de facto praticáveis.
As últimas décadas foram vitais para a integração do Espaço na Teoria Militar e
para a modificação do próprio conceito de Guerra. A Operação Desert Storm e a
Operação Enduring Freedom exemplificaram de que forma o suporte às forças em terra
pode ser ampliado com o recurso a meios logísticos baseados no Espaço.
O caso da China no Espaço representa um caso interessante de estudo no âmbito
da Exploração Espacial e das Relações Internacionais.
A China tem vindo a perceber que a cooperação no âmbito da Exploração
Espacial lhe providencia a capacidade de maximizar os seus recursos e de criar relações
com outros países baseadas em relações de “Soft Power”, sobretudo na região Asiática e
em África.

Since 2006 Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges have been recapitalised through massive government investment in order to improve infrastructure, implement a more relevant curriculum and assist college learners financially to gain access to the different learning programmes. A new curriculum with 11 programmes was introduced and implemented under the National Certificate Vocational (NCV). The results of the 2007 examinations, were disappointing and in general, the national performance of the learners was dismal. Policy requirements for certification and promotion to the next level stipulated that learners need to pass all 7 subjects in a programme.
The main aim of the study was to identify variables that are the best predictors of academic success of first year FET students. Thus, if these predictors are considered during the admission process of first year FET students, it could lead to overall improved first year pass rate at FET Colleges and contribute towards the enhancement of human resources and economical development of our country.
In order to achieve the research aim and objectives, a literature study and an empirical investigation were conducted. The literature study focussed on cognitive and non-cognitive factors that contribute to academic success of students at colleges.
The empirical investigation departed from a positivist paradigm to determine which variables contributed the best towards the prediction of academic success of first year NCV Level 2 students at FET Colleges and a quantitative non-experimental, ex post facto approach was followed .The results of the General Scholastic Aptitude Test (GSAT), the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory – High School version (LASSI-HS), grade mark average and biographical details of the registered first year NCV Level 2 students of the Vuselela FET College (Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp campuses) in 2008 (n=309), were used to determine whether any of these variables significantly predicted the academic success of these students.
The investigation revealed that:
• None of the LASSI-HS scales were predictors of academic success of the first year NCV Level 2 students;
• The GSAT (Total) was a predictor of academic success of these students;
• None of the biographical variables, i.e. age or gender, were predictors of academic success; and
• Grade mark average on students’ last school reports, was a predictor of academic success.
These findings revealed that Grade mark average, and GSAT-(Total) (which is also an indication of intelligence quotient (IQ)) were the best predictors of academic success of first year NCV Level 2 students at the Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp campuses of the Vuselela FET College.<br>Thesis (MEd (Educational Psychology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013.

The trial and verdict of Rakim Mayers, also known as ASAP Rocky, caused major media attention during the summer of 2019. The aim of this bachelor study was to examine how news journalism represented the case “ASAP Rocky” in Swedish tabloids. The research questions examined were: How does journalism portray the story of the victim and perpetrator in the case “ASAP Rocky” ? What are the differences and similarities in how victim and perpetrator are constructed? How does the story develop in Swedish tabloids during the case “ASAP Rocky”? We used Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis (CDA) to identify reoccurring discourses in the description of the case “ASAP Rocky”. By examining the characters, victim and perpetrator in Swedish tabloids, we found that there was no idealistic role portrayed in the case. Both the victim and the perpetrator were described as insufficient. One discursive theme was that the victim is inadequate since ASAP Rocky´s status as a celebrity provides him an advantage. This discourse is identified also in texts describing ASAP Rocky as a perpetrator. The study showed that the different discourses concern moral values in various contradictions, such as good - evil, right - wrong and “we” versus “them”. Our study shows that the discourses we found contributes to the creation of celebrities and the discourse that celebrities are unreachable. The conclusion of this study is that media contributes to the stereotype of celebrities.

Für die Untersuchung standen 20 tragende Booroola*Merinofleischschaf Kreuzungsgenotypen, meist pluripar, zwischen 2 und 6 Jahren zur Verfügung. Während der Trächtigkeit wurden in wöchentlichem Abstand die Größenveränderungen der Plazentomdurchmesser mittels transkutaner und transrektaler Ultrasonographie erfasst und Blutproben genommen. Post partum erfolgte die detaillierte Auswertung der Plazenta nach Anzahl und Durchmesser der Kotyledonen und des Kotyledonen- und Sekundinengewichts. Aus den gewonnenen Daten wurden Plazentomwachstumskurven im Verlauf der Trächtigkeit erstellt. Die Blutproben wurden hormonanalytisch auf Progesteron, 17ß-Östradiol, und IGF-1, sowie stoffwechselphysiologisch auf die, den Eiweiß- und Energiehaushalt charakterisierenden Substanzen Albumin, Gesamteiweiß, Harnstoff, BHB, Bilirubin und Glukose untersucht. Zudem erfolgte die Bestimmung von Substanzen, die in der Trächtigkeit stark beansprucht werden, wie ASAT, Calcium, Eisen und Cholesterol. Die Auswertung sämtlicher Daten erfolgte in Abhängigkeit von Wurfgröße (WG) und Wurfgewichtsklassen (WGK). Der größte Einfluss von WG und WGK auf die Plazenta zeigt sich bei der Auswertung der morphologischen Aspekte. Dabei sind in erster Linie eine Vergrößerung der Plazentomdurchmesser von uni- zu triparen Tieren sowie von WGK 1 zur WGK 3 festzustellen. In den jeweils höchsten Klassen fällt der Durchmesser wieder. Zudem nimmt in der Regel mit steigender WG und WGK die Anzahl der Plazentome mit kleinen Durchmessern (1-20 mm)ab, die Anzahl der Plazentome mit großen Durchmessern (20-50 mm) dagegen zu. Tripare Tiere und WGK 3 weisen die meisten Plazentome mit den größten Durchmessern (40-50 mm) auf. Bei der Gesamtkontaktfläche zeigt sich ein Anstieg der Fläche von uni- bis zu quadriparen Tieren und der WGK 1 bis WGK 4. Nur WGK 5 weist eine gegenüber WGK 4 verminderte Gesamtkontaktfläche auf. Unabhängig von WG und WGK verkleinern sich die Plazentomdurchmesser und die Gesamtkontaktflächen p.p. gegenüber den Plazentomdurchmessern und Gesamtkontaktflächen a.p. WG und WGK beeinflussen den Hormonhaushalt mäßig. Dabei zeigt sich der größte Einfluss beim Progesteron. Die kleinste WG bzw. WGK präsentiert die niedrigsten Progesteronkonzentrationen. Beim 17ß-Östradiol ist der Verlauf aller Konzentrationskurven im gesamten Trächtigkeitsverlauf und beim IGF-1 ab dem 100. Tag p.c. einheitlich. Durch WG oder WGK werden bei den Booroola*MF Kreuzungsgenotypen keine den Stoffwechsel charakterisierenden Substanzen in einer auffallenden oder für die Tierart untypischen Weise verändert. Die Anzahl Feten bzw. die WGK zeigen im vorliegenden Datenmaterial keinen gravierenden Einfluss auf den maternalen Stoffwechsel während der Gravidität<br>The analysis was founded on 20 pregnant Booroola* Merino Mutton crossbreed sheep between 2 and 6 years, most of them pluriparous. During pregnancy the variations of size of the placentomdiameters were drawn up on a weekly basis using transcutaneous and transrectal ultrasonography. Samples of blood were taken likewise in a weekly rhythm. After birth a detailed examination of the placentae followed, considering especially their number and diameter as well as the weight of the cotyledons and the secundinae. The gained data were used to create placentom-growth-diagrams during pregnancy. The samples of blood were hormonally analysed with regard to progesterone, estradiol and IGF-1 as well as to the substances that characterize the protein- and energy metabolism as there are: albumin, protein, urea, BHB, bilirubin, glucose. Moreover substances which are highly required during pregnancy were determined as e.g. ASAT, calcium, iron, cholesterol. The evaluation of all the gained data was made in dependence on the littersize (LS) and total litterweight (TLW). The major influence of the LS and TLW on the placenta is noticed at the morphological aspects. The placentomdiameter increase from uni- to triparous ewes and from TLW 1 to TLW 3. On the other hand the placentomdiameters decrease in the highest groups. With an increase of LS and TLW the amound of placentoms with small diameters (1-20 mm) generally decreased in favour of the placentoms with big diameters (20-50 mm). Triparous ewes and TLW 3 show most of the placentoms with the largest diameters (40-50 mm). The "total contact area" demonstrates an increase from uni-to quadriparous ewes and TLW 1 to TLW 4. Only TLW 5 has a smaller "total contact area" as TLW 4. Independent of LS and TLW of the Booroola* Merino Mutton crossbreed sheep the placentomdiameter and the "total contact area" decrease p.p. in comparison to the placentomdiameter and "total contact area" a.p. The influence of LS and TLW on the endocrinological system is moderate. The highest influence is proved concerning progesterone, the smallest LS and TLW show the lowest blood-progesterone concentration. In contrast to this, the estradiol concentration of both groups seems to be uniform during the whole pregnancy and equally the IGF-1 concentration from the 100 day p.c. None of the metabolism characterising substances seems to be affected by the LS or TLW. The littersize as well as the litterweight do not influence in the gained data the maternal metabolism during pregnancy

“As Asas”, de Ana Teresa Pereira, é um conto que faz parte do livro A Coisa que Eu Sou de 1997, editado pela Relógio D’Água. O conto revela-nos um universo neogótico e fantasmático. Uma vez que se conhece toda a obra da escritora, podemos afirmar que esta tem o espírito para metamorfosear a situação mais banal numa câmara de horrores, que apenas se adivinha de início.
Os contos têm a mesma linguagem dos “contos de fadas”, igual silêncio nos trilhos de sombra onde os jovens descobrem o destino, um anjo, um animal heráldico, quase sempre vampiro.
Esta curta-metragem teve por base a adaptação do conto literário acima referido, As asas, e foi pensada primeiramente como a tentativa de execução prática de uma ideia, de uma visualização mental. Esta visão mental pode ser descrita como uma primeira criação mental da leitura do conto.
Defende-se por visão mental, o processo de criação mental ou visualização, que acontece no processo de leitura, um processo criativo, que tem por base, visualizar, ou dar forma, ao que é escrito no texto. É um processo criativo pessoal e único, e é a partir daí que se tenta recriar essa mesma imagem mental.
Assim, podemos afirmar que foi efetuado uma transferência, de um meio para outro, ou seja, da leitura do texto original, para o guião e depois do guião para o filme; uma mesma história, mas suportes e sistemas de exposição diferentes.
Assim, ao (re) escrever o conto e passando-o para guião, pretendeu-se materializar em imagens, sons e sensações um ponto de vista pessoal sobre o que se encontrava latente no processo de criação mental.
A adaptação deste conto vai ao encontro do que se defende por adaptação, ou seja, aquilo que é possível transferir da literatura para o cinema.
Por serem sistemas distintos, foi necessário preservar o essencial da história, dando assim um ponto de vista pessoal sobre a obra original, mas sem fazer com que esta perca a sua integridade na transposição para o cinema. O tema principal do projeto é o overlap. Assim, sendo este parâmetro obrigatório, tentou-se adaptar o conto, não só à tal primeira visão mental já referida, mas igualmente a este tema. Fomos obrigados a ter sempre em mente duas coisas: manter a integridade da história, mesmo que esta não corresponda fielmente ao original, e pensar visual e sonoramente o overlap através de “repetições” e sobreposições de planos e ações, de forma a que o mais importante da historia seja reforçado mas evitando “adulterar” ou “deturpar” o texto original.

Essa modalidade tem-se ampliado em diversos programas nacionais. A cada dia, surgem novas demandas na área, e uma delas é a necessidade de se eleger um Ambiente Virtual de Ensino-Aprendizagem (AVEA), bem como selecionar instrumentos de acompanhamento e avaliação. Os desafios teórico-metodológicos do processo ensino-aprendizagem na modalidade a distância podem ser potencializados se o AVEA contemplar as interseções entre Tecnologia, Ergonomia e Pedagogia. O objetivo desta pesquisa é construir uma taxionomia para escolha de um AVEA a ser utilizado em EaD. O trabalho segue os princípios gerais da pesquisa-ação, pois se reconhece que, dadas as contingências em que o mesmo se realiza, esta abordagem é bem apropriada. O desenvolvimento do trabalho resgata algumas experiências já desenvolvidas e elabora uma ferramenta denominada EaDList, baseando-se em categorias conceituais, como interação, autonomia, cooperação e mediação. O EaDList está organizado em uma taxionomia que se desdobra na construção de critérios, indicadores e descritores. Foi aplicado por uma equipe de avaliadores para a escolha de um AVEA, respondendo a uma demanda contingencial. A aplicação do EaDList leva à escolha de uma plataforma em desenvolvimento evolutivo: o Moodle. Acredita-se que a utilização deste AVEA anuncia um reomodo no processo ensino-aprendizagem em EaD. A validação desta aposta aguarda uma nova etapa de pesquisa.

Para fazê-lo, como ponto de partida, toma-se quatro traduções realizadas em língua portuguesa. Como quase todo texto poético, a composição possui características de grande complexidade para sua recriação em outras línguas. Acreditando na arte da tradução, foram encontrados quatro estilos bastante singulares. Com base na Teoria dos Polissistemas, de Even-Zohar, foram selecionadas quatro traduções do poema The Raven, realizadas por Machado de Assis (1883), Fernando Pessoa (1924), José Lira (1995) e Vinícius Alves (1999), consideradas como recriações sob a perspectiva da Teoria dos Polissistemas e dos Estudos Descritivos da Tradução, isto é, são aceitos como novos poemas fruto da intervenção e da liberdade de cada um dos tradutores. Sob esta ótica, são investigados elementos ligados ao processo de criação dos tradutores, sejam eles de ordem social, política, cultural, além de aspectos atrelados tanto às políticas editoriais, quanto aos percursos e escolhas do tradutor. Privilegiou-se os quatro pólos de chegada, evitando o confronto com o poema dito "original", uma vez que não se objetiva eleger uma tradução como sendo a melhor, mas tão simplesmente apontar características próprias a cada um dos novos poemas.

Close scrutiny of Asad's presidency, however, betrays the inadequacy of this explanation. In fact, Syria's conflict with Israel is the primary legitimizing agent for Asad's minority-Alawi regime, and it is because of this conflict that Asad's regime has endured. Consequently, the absence of a militant confrontation with Israel poses risks which the present Syrian leadership has been unwilling to assume. Furthermore, this condition acts as a restraint upon certain types of foreign policy activities and initiatives which Asad might otherwise elect to pursue. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, mitä käsityksiä esikoulunopettajilla ja 1. luokanopettajilla on esikoulussa harjoiteltavista asioista. Mitkä ovat heidän mielestään niitä esikoulussa harjoiteltavia asioita, jotka tukevat lapsen koulun aloittamista? Tutkimuksessa selvitetään myös, ovatko näiden kahden opettajaryhmän käsitykset asiasta samanlaisia vai eroavatko ne toisistaan.
Teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä käydään ensin läpi esikouluikäisen lapsen kehitystä motorisen, kielellisen, ajattelun, moraalin ja sosiaalisen kehityksen näkökulmista. Sen jälkeen määritellään koulukypsyyttä, kouluvalmiutta, oppimisvalmiutta ja esiopetusta sekä tarkastellaan esiopetuksen tehtäviä. Viitekehyksessä syvennytään myös esikoulun ja koulun välisiin eroihin sekä tuodaan esille mitkä asiat aikaisempien tutkimusten mukaan helpottavat siirtymistä esikoulusta kouluun.
Tutkimus on luonteeltaan kvalitatiivinen tutkimus, jossa on käytetty fenomenografista lähestymistapaa. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin verkossa täytettävällä kyselylomakkeella, ja aineisto koostui 18 vastauksesta. Tutkimukseen osallistui pääosin Oulun seudulla työskenteleviä esikoulunopettajia ja 1. luokanopettajia. Tutkimuksen aineisto analysoitiin käyttäen fenomenografiseen tutkimukseen liittyvää aineistolähtöistä analyysia.
Tutkimuksen tulosten mukaan esikoulunopettajien ja 1. luokanopettajien käsityksissä on sekä yhtäläisyyksiä että eroavaisuuksia. Sosiaaliset taidot ja opiskeluun orientoitumiseen liittyvät taidot nähtiin tärkeimmiksi molemmissa ryhmissä. Myös motoriset taidot, tunnetaidot ja itsestä huolehtimisen taidot nähtiin tärkeäksi molemmissa ryhmissä, mutta niiden painotus erosi ryhmien välillä. Ryhmien välisiä eroja näkyi muun muassa tietotaidollisten, tässä tutkimuksessa matematiikkaan ja äidinkieleen liittyvien, asioiden suhteen. Esikoulunopettajat painottivat 1. luokan opettajia enemmän tietotaidollisia asioita kouluun siirtymistä tukevana asiana.
Aineisto jakaantui epätasaisesti esikoulunopettajien ja 1. luokanopettajien vastausten suhteen. Esikoulunopettajilta saatiin 13 vastausta ja 1. luokanopettajilta viisi vastausta. Tämän vuoksi, sekä myös aineiston pienuuden vuoksi, tutkimuksen tuloksia ei voida suoraan yleistää. Kuitenkin tulokset antavat viitteitä siitä, miten esikoulunopettajien ja 1. luokanopettajien käsitykset vastaavat toisiaan ja miten ne eroavat toisistaan.

A rapid coliphage detection assay (RCDA), based on the phage-induced release of b-galactosidase from cells of Escherichia coli (Ijzerman, M., J.O. Falkinham III and C. Hagedorn. (1993) [A liquid, colorimetric presence-absence coliphage detection method. J. Virol. Meth. 45:229-234] was modified to reduce the number of steps required to perform the assay, remove the need for specialized media and buffers, reduce the volumes required, and simplify growth and reaction conditions. Tolerances of the assay were defined at each step of the assay. The number of steps has been reduced from 12 to 7. The b-galactosidase reaction buffer was eliminated. Culture volumes were reduced from 25 ml to 5 ml and reaction volumes were reduced from 10 ml to 0.5 ml. Optimal growth conditions were 37 o C with orbital shaking at 200 rpm, a one hour subculture time and an incubation of subculture with water sample for two hours. Color development occurred at 37 o C in 30 minutes. The changes and modifications of the assay increased the ease of its performance without sacrificing the ability of the assay to detect as few as two phage particles per sample. By understanding the tolerances of the assay, technical support representatives of companies producing kits modeled after the assay will be prepared to answer questions from customers concerning possible kit failures or user error.<br>Master of Science

It has been built based on four studies that involved a mix of contextual inquiry, cultural probes, and participatory design methods. The framework offers implications for technology design, policies, and the theory of social capital. The collective contributions of this research will inform designers of appropriate technologies that support social capital in the refugee and asylum seeker context. It will also inform policymakers to implement policies that affect this demography.

Once thehearing aid device prescribed to the user, she/he needs to train and adjust the device to compensate for the individualimpairment.We are within the framework of this project researching on hearing aid devices that can be trained by the hearingimpaired person her-/himself. This project is about finding suitable noise cancellation algorithm for the hearing-aiddevice. We consider several types of algorithms like, microphone array signal processing, Independent ComponentAnalysis (ICA) based on double microphone called Blind Source Separation (BSS) and DRNPE algorithm.We run this current and most sophisticated and robust algorithms in certain noise backgrounds like Cocktail noise,street, public places, train, babble situations to test the efficiency. The BSS algorithm was well in some situation andgave average results in some situations. Where one microphone gave steady results in all situations. The output isgood enough to listen targeted audio.The functionality and performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with different non-stationary noisebackgrounds. From the performance results it can be concluded that, by using the proposed algorithm we are able toreduce the noise to certain level. SNR, system delay, minimum error and audio perception are the vital parametersconsidered to evaluate the performance of algorithms. Projetar aerodinamicamente, asas supersônicas será sempre uma tarefa complexa, cara e demorada. Sabendo disso, metodologias de cálculo são concebidas e integradas de modo a orientar e agilizar a obtenção da configuração desejada. O presente trabalho é um método dos painéis de primeira ordem que emprega dipólos supersônicos e condição de contorno cinemática no plano da corda, com objetivo de determinar o diferencial de pressões e arqueamento na asa. Ou seja, é voltado para a resolução dos probelmas de análise e projeto. Os resultados obtidos, inclusive coeficientes aerodinâmicos, apresentam concordância muito boa com os valores analíticos e experimentais (asa seta). Além disso, deve-se ressaltar que foi implementado um código computacional (distcarg) de modo a facilitar e tornar mais rápida a comparação dos resultados de asas com formas em planta e carregamentos especificados, diferentes. Desta feita, conseguiu-se um conjunto integrado de códigos computacionais que corresponde às expectativas.

A indústria aeronáutica vem promovendo avanços tecnológicos em velocidades crescentes, para sobreviver em mercados extremamente competitivos. Neste cenário, torna-se imprescindível o uso de ferramentas de projeto que agilizem o desenvolvimento de novas aeronaves. Os atuais recursos computacionais permitiram um grande aumento no número de ferramentas que auxiliam o trabalho de projetistas e engenheiros. O projeto de uma aeronave é uma tarefa multidisciplinar por essência, o que logo incentivou o desenvolvimento de ferramentas computacionais que trabalhem com várias áreas ao mesmo tempo. Entre elas se destaca a otimização multidisciplinar em projeto, que une métodos de otimização à modelos matemáticos de áreas distintas de um projeto para encontrar soluções de compromisso. O presente trabalho introduz a otimização multidisciplinar em projeto (Multidisciplinary Design Optimization - MDO) e discorre sobre algumas aplicações possíveis desta metodologia. Foi realizada a implementação de um sistema de MDO para o projeto de asas flexíveis, considerando restrições de aeroelasticidade dinâmica e massa estrutural. Como meta, deseja-se encontrar distribuições ideais de rigidezes flexional e torcional da estrutura da asa, para maximizar a velocidade crítica de flutter e minimizar a massa estrutural. Para tanto, foram utilizados um modelo dinâmico-estrutural baseado no método dos elementos finitos, um modelo aerodinâmico não-estacionário baseado na teoria das faixas e nas soluções bidimensionais de Theodorsen, um modelo de previsão de flutter que utiliza o método K e, por fim, um otimizador baseado no método de algoritmos genéticos (AGs). São apresentados os detalhes empregados em cada modelo, as restrições aplicadas e a maneira como eles interagem ao longo da otimização. É feita uma análise para a escolha dos parâmetros de otimização por AG e em seguida a avaliação de dois casos, para verificação da funcionalidade do sistema implementado. Os resultados obtidos demonstram uma metodologia eficiente, que é capaz de buscar soluções ótimas para problemas propostos, que com devidos ajustes pode ter enorme valor para acelerar o desenvolvimento de novas aeronaves.<br>The aeronautical industry is always trying to speed up technological advances in order to survive in extremely competitive markets. In this scenario, the use of design tools to accelerate the development of new aircraft becomes essential. Current computational resources allow greater increase in the number of design tools to assist the work of aeronautical engineers. In essence, the design of an aircraft is a multidisciplinary task, which stimulates the development of computational tools that work with different areas at the same time. Among them, the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) can be distinguished, which combines optimization methods to mathematical models of distinct areas of a design to find compromise solutions. The present work introduces MDO and discourses on some possible applications of this methodology. The implementation of a MDO system for the design of flexible wings, considering dynamic aeroelasticity restrictions and the structural mass, was carried out. As goal, it is desired to find ideal flexional and torsional stiffness distributions of the wing structure, that maximize the critical flutter speed and minimize the structural mass. To do so, it was employed a structural dynamics model based on the finite element method, a nonstationary aerodynamic model based on the strip theory and Theodorsens two-dimensional solutions, a flutter prediction model based on the K method and a genetic algorithm (GA). Details on the model, restrictions applied and the way the models interact to each other through the optimization are presented. It is made an analysis for choosing the GA optimization parameters and then, the evaluation of two cases to verify the functionality of the implemented system. The results obtained illustrate an efficient methodology, capable of searching optimal solutions for proposed problems, that with the right adjustments can be of great value to accelerate the development of new aircraft.

To analyze its resurging infinite significations and how angel s image survives and lives with time to contemporanity, in contemporary art. In the first chapter, entitled constancy and variation, it is presented the constant winged figures in history, in art history up to the usage of this image as Christian iconography, when allegory s study through decency made decorative construction to happen in a persuasive form, reaching colonial Portuguese-Brazilian art, through Christian Patronage. Religious construction, connected to economical factors, joined by decency, appears repetition and difference, unique in the angel s appearance. In the second chapter, entitled presence and absence, we punctuate the angel s presence in the relation with the spectator and the world in the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, from the passage of the divine to the humane. We stand out angel s image as modernity s allegory, Walter Benjamin s adopted and studied figure, as characteristic elapsed from the transitions of the time. The angel, forgotten by human delusion, appears as a reflex of this symptom of modernity, the ephemeral and melancholy feeling. From the lost of divine condition, the angel s fallen, the being endowed of humanity. In the third chapter, as persistence and reelaboration, it is approached the angel s appearance in contemporary art as the field of probabilities and possibilities. Towards tensions of the apparent world, the angel in art appears as the mirror of humanity in contemporanity. This way, it survives by the opposite side, as a formless being and by damages. It consists in the reelaboration of the image as form s survival and thus exists as a weight of its own condition, unbearable and unsustainable lightness. Thereby, this study was done through bibliographical research, on theoretical obliquity and art historic, with a more philosophical and speculative value related to the images, being and operation by collage and connections, with a possibility of new interrogations and interlocutions<br>Este trabalho propõe investigar questões sobre as potencialidades reveladas pela figura alada, em especial na afinidade do anjo com temas como alegoria, modernidade e contemporaneidade. Propõe analisar as significações infinitas ressurgentes do anjo e como sua imagem sobrevive e vive com o tempo até a contemporaneidade, na arte contemporânea. O primeiro capítulo, intitulado Constância e variação, apresenta as constantes figuras aladas na história, na história da arte até a utilização dessa imagem como iconografia cristã, quando o estudo da alegoria por meio do decoro fez com que a construção decorativa se desse de forma persuasiva, atingindo a arte colonial luso-brasileira, mediante o Padroado. A construção religiosa, ligada aos fatores econômicos, acompanhada pelo decoro, acarreta repetição e diferença singular no aparecimento do anjo. No segundo capítulo, chamado Presença e ausência, pontua-se a presença do anjo na relação com o espectador e o mundo no final do século XIX e início do século XX, da passagem do divino ao humano. Assinala-se a imagem do anjo como alegoria da modernidade, figura adotada e estudada por Walter Benjamin, como característica decorrida das transições na época. O anjo, esquecido pela desilusão humana, aparece como reflexo desse sintoma da modernidade, da efemeridade e do sentimento de melancolia, da perda da condição divina, a queda do anjo, para o ser dotado de humanidade. O terceiro capítulo, Persistência e reelaboração, aborda a aparição do anjo na arte contemporânea como campo de possibilidades e probabilidades. Frente às tensões do mundo aparente, o anjo na arte surge como espelho da humanidade na contemporaneidade. Dessa forma, sobrevive pelo lado oposto, como ser disforme e por avarias. Consiste na reelaboração da imagem como sobrevivência da forma e passa a existir como peso de sua própria condição, insustentável e insuportável leveza. The principal objective of this research is to investigate the capability of multi-temporal,multi-incidence angle, dual polarization ENVISAT ASAR imagery for extractinglanduse/land cover information in the rural-urban fringe of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)using different image processing techniques and classification algorithms. An attempt todetermine the temporal change of landuse is also made.The multi-temporal ASAR imagery was first orthorectified using NTDB DEM and satelliteorbital models. Different image processing techniques, such as, Adaptive Speckle Filtering,Texture measures, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were applied to the ASAR images.Backscatter profiles were generated for selected land cove classes. K Nearest neighbor (kNN)classifier was used to extract eleven land cover classes. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) wasalso tested with some selected combinations of ASAR imagery. The classification schemewas adopted from USGS alnuse/land cover classification scheme. Average accuracy, overallaccuracy and Kappa coefficients were calculated for all classifications.The raw ASAR images gave very poor results in identifying landuse/land cover classes due tothe presence of immense speckle. Enhanced Frost (EF) filtering significantly improved theclassification accuracies. For texture measures, eleven date Mean images produced the bestresult among all single set processed data. Combined Mean and Standard Deviation,combinations of different texture measures, further improved the results. Standard deviationprovided vital auxiliary boundary information to the classification resulting in theimprovement. The best kNN was achieved with combined Mean and Standard Deviation withmulti-incidence angle, dual polarization eleven date ASAR images. ANN further improvedthe classification results of the textured images. As for comparison of classifiers, It was foundthat, with complex combinations (dual polarization, multi-incidence angle), ANN performssignificantly better than kNN. The overall accuracy was 9.6% higher than that of kNN. Theresults were more or less similar in filtered images.Post classification change detection is largely dependent on classification accuracy ofindividual images. Even though, the classification results were somewhat satisfactory, theclassified ASAR image still had a significant amount or omission and commission errors withsome classes. The classification errors contributed a significant amount of noise in changedetection. The change detection procedure, however, was able to identify the areas ofsignificant change, for example, major new roads, new low and high built up areas and golfcourses.In brief, ENVISAT ASAR data was found to have vast potential in extracting land coverinformation. Especially with its all weather capability, ASAR can be used together with highresolutionoptical images for temporal studies of landuse/land cover change due to urbansprawl.

This manuscript presents information for all supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN) during 2015, its second full year of operations. The same information is presented for bright (m(V) <= 17), spectroscopically confirmed supernovae discovered by other sources in 2015. As with the first ASAS-SN bright supernova catalogue, we also present redshifts and near-ultraviolet through infrared magnitudes for all supernova host galaxies in both samples. Combined with our previous catalogue, this work comprises a complete catalogue of 455 supernovae from multiple professional and amateur sources, allowing for population studies that were previously impossible. This is the second of a series of yearly papers on bright supernovae and their hosts from the ASAS-SN team.

L’obiettivo della mia ricerca vuole essere indagare la dimensione del dissenso e dell’attivismo siriano dal punto di vista in particolare dell’intellettuale, a partire dalla Primavera di Damasco e nei suoi sviluppi recenti, attraverso l’analisi di opinioni (scritti, romanzi, interviste) di intellettuali, scrittori e giornalisti contemporanei. Il focus della tesi sarà sull’analisi del dissenso all’interno della comunità alawita, poiché alla luce della non trascurabile e problematica dimensione confessionale all’interno della società siriana, ritengo importante e decisivo il contributo di voci appartenenti a differenti comunità, in particolare le minoranze più numerose alawita e cristiana, da sempre associate al sostegno o alla tolleranza nei confronti del regime. Il parere e il contributo alla rivoluzione di alcune personalità appartenenti appunto a tali comunità, è fondamentale a mio parere per sostenere l’idea di una possibile futura società siriana in cui convivano le diverse componenti religiose, etniche, tribali che da sempre l’hanno caratterizzata, ed evitare quindi il rischio di cadere in un conflitto confessionale senza fine. Insieme alle figure degli attivisti del movimento non violento e della società civile, queste voci faranno la differenza nel momento in cui si definiranno le sorti dello stato siriano e della sua società.

In the end, the work deals with experiments and the evaluation of the time complexity of the library.

complete control system, hardware and software, for controlling model airplanes of the fixedwing
and rotary-wing types, aiming the implementation of an automatic control system
compatible with the necessity of autonomous and aided flights, applied to critical systems
monitoring.The final system consists of a controller, or automatic pilot, with specific
hardware and software, capable of controlling a model airplane using GPS coordinates, in a
way that allows the airplane to go through a planned route and go back to the starting point in
an autonomous way. The controller should receive, in ground, the programmed route; the
model should answer to the pilot commands, within a visual range when operating in the
aided mode, and should go through the programmed route in the autonomous mode, after
confirmation of the pilot. After reaching the end of the programmed route, the model airplane
should return to the starting point, keeping the maximum flight level of the route as the
reference height. The model airplane will carry in a communication system to allow the
monitoring process from a ground station, able to keep updated the airworthy conditions, as
well as the level of accuracy between the actual and the planned route. The communication
may be carried out directly using a radio link, with the receiver allocated in a mobile ground
station, monitored by a pilot, to make higher the security level. However, the model airplane
may transfer the data through a GPRS link, connected to the web system, which transfers the
data to the ground station. In this case, the ground station must be connected to the web.The
route saved in the model control system is built based on online maps directly linked by the
software for the mission programming and monitoring, which can carry out the treatment and
storage of the model data and parameters. The programming of the stability control and route,
with primary data of latitude, longitude and height allows the real time monitoring of the
model, related to the planned route and throught images captured by embedded video
cameras. All data are storage following a timeline process, such that they can be recovered for
futher analysis.<br>Esta disertação da área de engenharia elétrica consiste na construção de um
sistema de controle completo de hardware e software para controle de um aeromodelo de asa
fixa e/ou asa móvel, de maneira a implementar um piloto automático compatível com as
necessidades de voo autônomo ou assistido, sendo que tal sistema deverá ser compatível com
a precisão de voo aplicada a monitoramento de sistemas críticos.O sistema é constituído por
uma placa controladora composta por hardware e firmware específicos, capaz de controlar um
modelo orientado por coordenadas GPS, para que o mesmo percorra uma rota predeterminada
e retorne ao ponto de partida de forma autônoma. A placa recebe, ainda em solo, a
programação da rota a ser percorrida; o aeromodelo deve responder normalmente aos
comandos do controle remoto do piloto em solo, respeitando o raio de alcance visual do piloto
no modo assistido e segue a rota programada no modo autônomo após confirmação de
comando do piloto. No final do percurso o aermodelo volta em trajetória reta para o ponto de
partida, respeitando a maior altura do trajeto. O aeromodelo deve ser munido de sistema de
comunicação para o devido acompanhamento em solo das condições de aeronavegabilidade
do aeromodelo em voo, bem como a verificação dos níveis de precisão em relação à rota
programada. A comunicação pode ser feita diretamente por sistema de link de rádio,
direcionada a um terminal móvel em solo, que é acompanhado pelo piloto, para aumentar o
nível de segurança, mas o aeromodelo também pode comunicar por rede de celular GPRS,
conectado à internet, que direciona os dados ao terminal em solo. Nesse caso, o terminal,
também deverá estar conectado à internet. A rota programada no aeromodelo é construída
com base em mapas online conectados diretamente ao software de programação e
acompanhamento de missão, que faz o tratamento e armazenamento dos dados e parâmetros
do aermodelo. Tanto a programação de controle de estabilidade, quanto de rota, com dados
primários relativos a latitude, longitude e altura, permitem o acompanhamento em tempo real
do aeromodelo junto à rota programada e também através da imagem da câmera de gravação
embarcada no aeromodelo. Todos os dados são gravados com base em processo de linha do
tempo, que podem ser recuperados em conjunto para análise posterior.

Levou-se em consideração a articulação, realizada pelos sujeitos, entre os conteúdos subjetivos, produzidos internamente durante suas histórias de vida, e os conteúdos objetivos, decorrentes do contexto material, social e histórico. O referencial teórico fundamentou-se, principalmente pela Psicodinâmica do Trabalho, enfatizando o autor Dejours (1986, 1992, 1993, 1999), bem como Pellegrino (1987), Gaulejac (2001). Em termos metodológicos, foram coletados os dados, por meio de entrevistas semidirigidas, com os mototaxistas da cidade de Assis (S.P.). O resultados apontaram que os trabalhadores apresentam indícios de sofrimento patogênico, pois a relação dos sujeitos entrevistados com a atividade que executam não propicia uma boa manutenção da saúde mental. Tal situação se apresenta como um grande círculo vicioso: dificuldade financeira, falta de identificação com o trabalho, falta de apoio dos órgãos competentes, falta de reconhecimento social e uma perigosa condição de trabalho. Os motoqueiros são obrigados a recorrer a algumas estratégias de defesa para lidarem com as dificuldades cotidianas que surgem no exercício laboral. O trabalho é encarado, por muitos, como a única maneira de promoverem a sua subsistência e a subsistência de suas famílias.<br>This research was carried out to study the psychic suffering undergone by motorcycle taxidrivers in their daily routine, in short an attempt to understand the subjective content developed along their personal lives and the objective content derived from their material, social, and historical context. Its theoretical foundation rests mainly on Labor Psychodynamics found in writers such as Dejours (1986, 1992, 1993, 1999), as well as Pelegrino (1987), and Gaulejac (2001). The data were collected by means of semidirected interviews held with the motorcycle taxidrivers of Assis-SP. The results seem to confirm that such workers show signs of pathogenic suffering due to the fact that their relation to their work is not propitious to sustain mental health. A vicious circle is kept: financial problems, lack of identification with their work, lack of competent public agency support, lack of social recognition, and a dangerous labor condition. As a consequence, such workers have to resort to some defense strategies to deal with their daily difficulties. They view such an occupation as the only means available to provide subsistence to them and to their families.

A Otimização Multidisciplinar em Projeto (em inglês, Multidisciplinary Design Optimization - MDO) é uma ferramenta de projeto importante e versátil e seu uso está se expandindo em diversos campos da engenharia. O foco desta metodologia é unir disciplinas envolvidas no projeto para que trabalhem suas variáveis concomitantemente em um ambiente de otimização, para obter soluções melhores. É possível utilizar MDO em qualquer fase do projeto, seja a fase conceitual, preliminar ou detalhada, desde que os modelos numéricos sejam ajustados às necessidades de cada uma delas. Este trabalho descreve o desenvolvimento de um código de MDO para o projeto conceitual de asas flexíveis de aeronaves, com restrição quanto ao fenômeno denominado flutter. Como uma ferramenta para o projetista na fase conceitual, os modelos numéricos devem ser razoavelmente precisos e rápidos. O intuito deste estudo é analisar o uso de metamodelos para a previsão do flutter de asas de aeronaves no código de MDO, ao invés de um modelo convencional, o que pode alterar significativamente o custo computacional da otimização. Para este fim são avaliados três técnicas diferentes de metamodelagem, que foram escolhidas por representarem duas classes básicas de metamodelos, a classe de métodos de interpolação e a de métodos de aproximação. Para representá-las foram escolhidos o método de interpolação por funções de base radial e o método de redes neurais artificiais, respectivamente. O terceiro método, que é considerado um método híbrido dos dois anteriores, é chamado de redes neurais por funções de bases radiais e é uma tentativa de acoplar as características de ambos em um único metamodelo. Os metamodelos são preparados utilizando um código para solução aeroelástica baseado no método dos elementos finitos acoplado com um modelo aerodinâmico linear de faixas. São apresentados resultados de desempenho dos três metamodelos, de onde se pode notar que a rede neural artificial é a mais adequada para previsão de flutter. O processo de MDO é realizado com o uso de um algoritmo genético multi-objetivo baseado em não-dominância, cujos objetivos são a maximização da velocidade crítica de flutter e a minimização da massa estrutural. Dois estudos de caso são apresentados para avaliar o desempenho do código de MDO, revelando que o processo global de otimização realiza de fato a busca pela fronteira de Pareto.<br>The Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, MDO, is an important and versatile design tool and its use is spreading out in several fields of engineering. The focus of this methodology is to put together disciplines involved with the design to work all their variables concomitantly, at an optimization environment to obtain better solutions. It is possible to use MDO in any stage of the design process, that is in the conceptual, preliminary or detailed design, as long as the numerical models are fitted to the needs of each of these stages. This work describes the development of a MDO code for the conceptual design of flexible aircraft wings, with restrictions regarding the phenomenon called flutter. As a tool for the designer at the conceptual stage, the numerical models must be fairly accurate and fast. The aim of this study is to analyze the use of metamodels for the flutter prediction of aircraft wings in the MDO code, instead of a conventional model itself, what may affect significantly the computational cost of the optimization. For this purpose, three different metamodeling techniques have been evaluated, representing two basic metamodel classes, that are, the interpolation and the approximation class. These classes are represented by the radial basis function interpolation method and the artificial neural networks method, respectively. The third method, which is considered as a hybrid of the other two, is called radial basis function neural networks and is an attempt of coupling the features of both in single code. Metamodels are prepared using an aeroelastic code based on finite element model coupled with linear aerodynamics. Results of the three metamodels performance are presented, from where one can note that the artificial neural network is best suited for flutter prediction. The MDO process is achieved using a non-dominance based multi-objective genetic algorithm, whose objectives are the maximization of critical flutter speed and minimization of structural mass. Two case studies are presented to evaluate the performance of the MDO code, revealing that overall optimization process actually performs the search for the Pareto frontier.

Um método numérico é desenvolvido para calcular a resposta indicial de uma asa em um escoamento compressível subsônico. A resposta indicial calculada é a variação dos coeficientes aerodinâmicos após uma mudança abrupta no ângulo de ataque da asa. O método é do tipo rede de vórtices, em que os efeitos não-estacionários são calculados através da emissão intermitente de vórtices livres formando a esteira turbilhonar da asa. Os resultados obtidos são restritos a asas finas e pequenos ângulos de ataque, uma vez que é utilizado um modelo matemático linearizado. São estudados os efeitos do número de Mach, alongamento e enflechamento na resposta indicial. Os resultados possuem boa concordância com resultados similares de trabalhos anteriores. O método também pode ser aplicado no estudo de movimentos arbitrários da asa, usando o princípio de superposição e a integral de Duhamel, devido à linearidade do sistema.

Orientador: Francisco Hashimoto<br>Resumo: O objetivo desta pesquisa consistiu em investigar o sofrimento psíquico dos indivíduos que se encontram trabalhando como mototaxistas, buscando a compreensão das questões subjetivas na construção da relação de trabalho. Levou-se em consideração a articulação, realizada pelos sujeitos, entre os conteúdos subjetivos, produzidos internamente durante suas histórias de vida, e os conteúdos objetivos, decorrentes do contexto material, social e histórico. O referencial teórico fundamentou-se, principalmente pela Psicodinâmica do Trabalho, enfatizando o autor Dejours (1986, 1992, 1993, 1999), bem como Pellegrino (1987), Gaulejac (2001). Em termos metodológicos, foram coletados os dados, por meio de entrevistas semidirigidas, com os mototaxistas da cidade de Assis (S.P.). O resultados apontaram que os trabalhadores apresentam indícios de sofrimento patogênico, pois a relação dos sujeitos entrevistados com a atividade que executam não propicia uma boa manutenção da saúde mental. Tal situação se apresenta como um grande círculo vicioso: dificuldade financeira, falta de identificação com o trabalho, falta de apoio dos órgãos competentes, falta de reconhecimento social e uma perigosa condição de trabalho. Os motoqueiros são obrigados a recorrer a algumas estratégias de defesa para lidarem com as dificuldades cotidianas que surgem no exercício laboral. O trabalho é encarado, por muitos, como a única maneira de promoverem a sua subsistência e a subsistência de suas famílias.<br>Abstract: This research was carried out to study the psychic suffering undergone by motorcycle taxidrivers in their daily routine, in short an attempt to understand the subjective content developed along their personal lives and the objective content derived from their material, social, and historical context. Its theoretical foundation rests mainly on Labor Psychodynamics found in writers such as Dejours (1986, 1992, 1993, 1999), as well as Pelegrino (1987), and Gaulejac (2001). The data were collected by means of semidirected interviews held with the motorcycle taxidrivers of Assis-SP. The results seem to confirm that such workers show signs of pathogenic suffering due to the fact that their relation to their work is not propitious to sustain mental health. A vicious circle is kept: financial problems, lack of identification with their work, lack of competent public agency support, lack of social recognition, and a dangerous labor condition. As a consequence, such workers have to resort to some defense strategies to deal with their daily difficulties. They view such an occupation as the only means available to provide subsistence to them and to their families.<br>Mestre

The Arizona Student Assessment Program (ASAP) is a major piece of legislation for Arizona, reducing norm-referenced standardized testing, providing performance-based assessments matching curriculum, requiring district articulation with state curriculum frameworks and assessments, collecting contextual information from districts, and producing complete profiles of schools, districts and the state. In its first year of implementation, the ASAP is appropriately examined through policy analysis rather than through an evaluation study. Six criteria for educational policy analysis developed by Mitchell (1986) were validated and used as interview questions with seven interviewees knowledgeable about the ASAP. Results of the interviews suggest the degree to which the ASAP is good educational policy and likely to make a difference in Arizona. Interviewees indicated that the ASAP is democratic, providing for both the needs of legitimate stakeholders and the general public interest. It recognizes and supports the organizational integrity of schools only if schools have begun to make some reform efforts of their own in the direction of the ASAP. The ASAP provides adequate means-end linkage for the first two years of implementation, including through school, district, and state profiles, but may need to provide additional help to districts during the first two years; furthermore, relief incentives may be needed, rather than sanctions or disincentives, to encourage continued implementation. The ASAP may not be integrated into overall state educational policy, primarily because there has been no unifying state policy until the ASAP. The ASAP may emerge as a force to reorient current and unify future policy. The ASAP will be expensive, but the interviewees felt the short and long-term benefits justify cost. The ASAP was the most politically feasible policy available to bring about the changes needed, but perhaps not the most palatable, especially to districts that have made no reform efforts of their own. Policy analysis using different criteria and evaluation studies are recommended.

Previous issue date: 2010<br>Esta é uma tese de doutoramento em educação do Programa de Pesquisa e Pósgraduação da Faculdade de Educação (FACED/UFBA). Apesar de ser fundamentada na filosofia bergsoniana, ela não se constitui como um recorte nas obras nem no pensamento de Henri Bergson, isso porque se sua filosofia é uma filosofia da vida e seu pensamento algo vivo, não poderia ser repartido sem matá-lo ou torcê-lo; logo, ele precisa ser inteiro, intuído, absolutamente. Como esta não é uma tese em filosofia, mas em filosofia da educação, não pretendo fazer interpretações do pensamento de Bergson, sendo que às vezes isso foi inevitável. Então, ela é um transbordamento do pensamento de Bergson para dar subsídio a uma filosofia da educação que considere a duração. Partindo da diferenciação que Bergson faz entre o que é vivo e o construído, realizei uma viragem interna; por isso a tese foi antes intuída, e depois construída. Para Bergson, o construído vai da periferia para o centro e o vivo do centro para a periferia, essa diferença é muito importante no meu trabalho, pelo fato do construído permitir uma ação de análise da inteligência, já que tudo que ele possui veio de fora, e ao reparti-lo encontraremos esses componentes, mas o vivo explode de um centro para a periferia, criando, e não se submete à analise da inteligência, a não ser deformando-o. O vivo é inteiro e só pode ser apreendido de um só golpe. Juntando a isso o entendimento de que consciência é algo vivo, foi preciso refazer tudo que entendia sobre Educação. Outra ideia fundamental para esta tese é a de tempo real como duração; em Bergson o tempo é qualidade pura, contínuo e heterogêneo, não pode ser contado; assim, o que importa não são as horas vividas mas o que se viveu nessas horas. Isso revoluciona os conceitos de currículo, carga horária e hora-aula. Também foi de grande utilidade para mim a ideia de Henri Bergson de que construímos nossa personalidade a partir de nossas escolhas, essa idéia destrói as mentalidades tribais, os grupos sociais, culturais, sexuais ou étnicos como pressuposto para uma Educação bergsoniana. Foi feito um esforço para utilizar a intuição como método, pois a inteligência possui o hábito da analise e de espacializar e quantificar, além da própria linguagem ser uma espacialização do pensamento. De início, segui os conselhos de Bergson, colocando na perspectiva temporal os entes educativos: o aluno, o professor, a escola e a atividade de ensinar e aprender. Desse esforço resultou um novo entendimento desses entes e a compreensão de que a educação se dá individualmente e de maneira irrepetível, ela é mudança contínua e heterogênea; mudança vital que resulta das escolhas e da vocação. Mostramos o desmoronamento da escola em todos os seus sentidos, estrutura física, pensamento pedagógicos e teorias educacionais. Verificamos o papel central do professor como ente privilegiado do encontro do educar, pois ele não desmorona com o tempo, ele devém, ele cria. Esse movimento em direção ao pensamento de Bergson levou-me à intimidade, ao indizível do eu profundo. Isso impôs a utilização de linguagens para além do discurso filosófico-científico, e foi preciso recorrer à poesia e a conceitos da teologia para tentar dizer o indizível. Assim, após uma reconceituação dos entes educativos, conforme a metafísica de Bergson, cheguei aos últimos capítulos através da obra As duas fontes da moral e da religião ao ensinamento do moral e da ética, realizando um passeio pelo misticismo bergsoniano e suas relações com a educação e a moral.<br>Salvador

The ASCAT scatterometer measures the Earth surface microwave radar backscatter in order to estimate the near-surface winds over the oceans. While the spatial resolution of the conventional applications is sufficient for many purposes, other geoscience applications benefit from an improved spatial resolution. Specialized algorithms may be applied to the scatterometer data in order to reconstruct the radar backscatter on a high-resolution grid. Image reconstruction requires the spatial response function (SRF) of each measurement, which is not reported with the measurement data. To address this need, I precisely model the SRF incorporating (1) the antenna beam response, (2) the processing performed onboard ASCAT before telemetering to the ground, and (3) the Doppler shift induced by a satellite orbiting the rotating Earth. I also develop a simple parameterized model of the SRF to reduce computational complexity. The accuracy of both models is validated.Image reconstruction of the ASCAT data is performed using the modeled SRF. I discuss the spatial resolution of the reconstructed ASCAT images and consider the first- and second-order statistics of the reconstructed data. Optimum values for the parameters of the reconstruction algorithms are also considered. The reconstructed radar backscatter data may be used for enhanced-resolution wind retrieval and for geoscience applications. In this dissertation, the reconstructed backscatter data is used to map the surface extent of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill and in a study to quantify the azimuth angle anisotropy of backscatter in East Antarctica. Near-coastal ocean wind retrieval is also explored in this dissertation. Because near-coastal ocean measurements of backscatter may be “contaminated” from nearby land and introduce errors to wind retrieval, they must be discarded. The modeled SRF is used to quantify the land contamination, enabling enhanced-resolution wind retrieval much closer to the coasts. The near-coastal winds are validated against buoy measurements.

O presente trabalho trata da interferência aerodinâmica asa-fuselagem sem geometrias de integração (por exemplo, carenagens). Os autores dos resultados experimentais, utilizados como base para o presente estudo, apontaram o efeito de convergência-divergência como sendo o principal fator do aumento de arrasto em configurações asa-baixa, por induzir um gradiente adverso de pressão na região divergente e promover um descolamento prematuro de camada limite. Assim, adotou-se o método dos painéis como ferramenta de análise de interferência asa-fuselagem, para que o efeito de convergência-divergência pudesse ser mais bem compreendido. Para concluir se o efeito de convergência-divergência é o efeito dominante no aumento de arrasto em configurações asa-baixa, cálculos de camada limite foram feitos em linhas de corrente nas proximidades da junção asa-fuselagem de configurações asa-baixa, utilizando o método integral de cálculo de camada limite no qual, por meio de parâmetros empíricos, o descolamento é estimado. Concluiu-se, com a análise de camada limite, que o efeito de convergência-divergência, por si só, não é capaz de causar um descolamento de camada limite que justifique o aumento de arrasto observado experimentalmente. Consequentemente, acredita-se que a migração de partículas fluido da fuselagem para a asa, não considerada no presente trabalho, pode ser o efeito dominante no aumento de arrasto em configurações asa-baixa, comparadas com as configurações asa-média.

Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, die mechanistischen Abläufe bei der Papierleimung mit ASA besser zu verstehen und weiter aufzuklären, um vor allem Wechselwirkungen mit Füllstoffen und anderen chemischen Additiven zu minimieren. Dazu sollten analytische Verfahrensmethoden entwickelt werden, welche die bilanztechnische Verfolgung von ASA und dessen Reaktionsprodukten ermöglichen, um anschließend den Einfluss und die Wechselwirkungen verschiedenster Parameter auf die ASA-Leimung untersuchen zu können. Weiterhin sollte bei Untersuchungen zur Emulgierung versucht werden, die wichtigsten Einflussgrößen auf die Partikelgröße, Stabilität und Hydrolyse des ASA aufzuzeigen. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit konnten bei den Untersuchungen zur Emulgierung wichtige Einflussgrößen auf die Partikelgröße, Stabilität und Hydrolyse von ASA-Emulsionen aufgeklärt werden. Weiterhin wurde eine Methode zur genauen Bestimmung der Reaktionskinetik der ASA-Hydrolyse sowie der Ablagerungsneigung entwickelt. Bei den Untersuchungen zur analytischen Bestimmung wurde über die NIR-Spektroskopie ein einfaches Analyseverfahren zur exakten quantitativen Bestimmung von ASA und AKD entwickelt. Es wurde gefunden, dass eine quantitative Erfassung von synthetischen Leimungsmitteln (ASA / AKD) mittels NIR in den Regionen der CH2-Schwingungen um 4300 cm-1 und 5750 cm-1 mit hoher statistischer Genauigkeit möglich ist. Der Methodenfehler für die Bestimmung von AKD liegt bei ± 0,010 % und bei ± 0,013 % für ASA. Dadurch ist eine wesentlich genauere Bewertung von Wechselwirkungen bei der Leimung als bisher möglich, da nicht nur die Leimungswirkung, sondern über NIR auch Menge und Art (gebunden / ungebunden) an Leimungsmittel in einer bisher nicht erreichbaren Messzeit betrachtet werden können. Mittels HPLC und Pyrolyse-GC/MS konnten die erstellten NIR-Kalibrationen erfolgreich validiert werden. Im letzten Teil der Arbeit wurden Wechselwirkungen von ASA mit Füllstoffen und chemischen Additiven aufgeklärt, sowie mechanistische Grundlagen zur Leimung mit ASA erarbeitet. Hier hat sich gezeigt, dass der Mechanismus der ASA-Leimung nicht nur, wie oft in der Literatur beschrieben, auf eine Veresterung mit den Hydroxylgruppen der Cellulose zurückzuführen ist. Vielmehr ist die optimale Wirkung von Leimungsmitteln sehr stark von deren Verteilung, Mobilität und Orientierung abhängig. Weiterhin konnte festgestellt werden, dass der größte Anteil des Leimungsmittels im Papier in ungebundener (hydrolisierter) Form vorliegt und somit zur Wanderung (Migration) durch das Papiergefüge befähigt ist. Trotzdem kann der hydrolisierte Anteil deutlich zur Hydrophobierung des Papiers beitragen, wenn dieser richtig orientiert und fein verteilt ist. Schlecht orientierte Leimungsmittel tragen nicht zur Leimung bei bzw. können diese sogar reduzieren. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden unter Einsatz moderner Methoden wichtige Grundlagen zur Papierleimung mit ASA erarbeitet. Dabei wurden insbesondere Beiträge zu den Themen Emulgierung, Hydrolyse- und Ablagerungsneigung, analytische Bestimmung, Wechselwirkungen sowie Mechanismen von ASA geleistet. Diese Ergebnisse zeigen Möglichkeiten auf, wie in Unternehmen der Papierindustrie zukünftig ASA-Leimungsmittel gezielter dosiert, Produktionsstörungen vermieden und Kosten reduziert werden können<br>The purpose of this work was to develop a deeper understanding of the mechanisms in ASA sizing and to minimise interactions with fillers and other chemical additives. Therefore analytical test methods were developed, to enable a simple mass balance approach for ASA and its reaction products. Afterwards, the influence of various factors affecting ASA sizing and retention could be investigated and explained. Furthermore, the most important factors which influence particle size, stability, and hydrolysis of ASA emulsions had to be determined. In the first part of this work, studies regarding the emulsification of ASA were carried out. Here, the most important factors with regard to particle size, stability, and hydrolysis of ASA emulsions were investigated. Furthermore, a method for the exact determination of ASA hydrolysis as well as the agglomeration tendency was developed. For the investigations regarding the analytical determination, a fast and easy-to-use method for the quantification of ASA and AKD has been developed. The investigations have shown that a quantitative determination of synthetic sizing agents (ASA / AKD) is possible using NIR spectroscopy. With the help of multivariate data analysis and PLS regression, mainly the region of the CH2-bands around 4300 cm-1 and 5750 cm-1 were evaluated. The prediction error (RMSEP) for the determination of AKD is 0.01 %, and 0.013 % for ASA. Even an analysis of the percentage of bound and unbound ASA / AKD is possible by NIR spectroscopy of extracted paper samples. Thus, a fast and detailed investigation of mechanisms as regards sizing is possible. The developed NIR methods were validated using HPLC and Pyrolysis-GC/MS. In the last part of the work, interactions of ASA with fillers and chemical additives were investigated, and mechanisms of ASA sizing were studied. It was shown that the mechanism of ASA sizing - as often described in the literature - can not only be attributed to the esterification with the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose. In fact, the optimal effect of sizing agents is much more dependant on a fine distribution, mobility and orientation of ASA molecules. It was observed that the main part of the ASA is present in an unbound (hydrolysed) form and therefore is able to migrate through the paper structure. However, the hydrolysed ASA can significantly contribute to sizing when it is finely distributed and well orientated. Sizing agents orientated in the opposite do not contribute to sizing but they can even decrease the existing sizing level. To summarize, it can be concluded that, in this work important fundamentals as regards ASA sizing were developed using modern test methods. Thereby important contributions were made to the topics of emulsification, hydrolysis- and emulsion-stability, analytical determination, interactions and mechanisms of ASA. A definição do tipo de junção asa-fuselagem, a ser utilizada em um projeto aeronáutico, passa por aspectos como: qualidade e precisão dos processos fabris necessários à fabricação da junta, tempo previsto para execução do projeto, disponibilidade de matérias-primas, cadência esperada de produção etc. A definição e a análise do número de parafusos, como também dos valores de pré-cargas aplicadas nos mesmos, são frutos de um árduo e complexo trabalho envolvendo as equipes de Projeto Estrutural, Engenharia Estrutural e Cargas. Sendo assim, ressalta-se que o presente trabalho procura explorar algumas possíveis ferramentas para projetar uma junção tipo parafusos em tração, tão somente sob o ponto de vista do Projeto Estrutural. São apresentados dois tipos de análises. A primeira, pelo método analítico, não demonstrou ser uma boa opção, para o caso de estudo, pois apresenta dificuldades quanto à possibilidade de iterações, atividade esta fundamental para otimização da junta. A segunda, via método numérico, demonstrou ser uma opção relativamente melhor, pois permite que haja iteratividade tanto do ponto de vista do número de parafusos na junção como da distribuição das cargas por estes parafusos. O método, obtido do ESDU 85021, para definição dos valores de pré-carga, ou torques de montagem, utilizou como valor de entrada as cargas obtidas pelo método numérico. O método do ESDU 85021 pode ser considerado conservativo, uma vez que despreza a existência de reforçadores nos flanges de junção. Porém, este método merece ser estudado a fim de implementar melhorias que permitam apurar o grau de conservadorismo e viabilizar um caminho prático e seguro para definição dos valores de pré-cargas.
