Abstract:
Sustainable energy systems of the future will need more than efficient, clean, and low-cost energy sources. They will also need efficient price signals that motivate sustainable energy consumption behaviors and a tight real-time alignment of energy demand with supply from renewable and traditional sources. The Power Trading Agent Competition (Power TAC) is a rich, competitive, open-source simulation platform for future retail power markets built on real-world data and state-of-the-art customer models. Its purpose is to help researchers understand the dynamics of customer and retailer decision-making as well as the robustness of proposed market designs. Power TAC invites researchers to develop autonomous electricity broker agents and to pit them against best-in-class strategies in global competitions, the first of which will be held at AAAI 2013. Power TAC competitions provide compelling, actionable information for policy makers and industry leaders. We describe the competition scenario, demonstrate the realism of the Power TAC platform, and analyze key characteristics of successful brokers in one of our 2012 pilot competitions between seven research groups from five different countries.

Abstract:
The article deals with the art competitions that appeared on the program of modern Olympic Games between 1912 and 1948. It reveals the philosophical background of their existence within the Summer Olympics and their relation to the idea of kalokagathia. The article describes the reasons for their origin and how the founder of the modern Olympic movement Pierre de Coubertin succeeded in pushing this idea forward. There were five artistic disciplines: fine arts, music, sculpture, literature, and architecture. I will briefly introduce the history of art competitions in chronological order, show how their popularity gradually increased but I will also reveal the reasons the art competitions were removed from the program of the Olympic Games in the 1950s of the 20th century. Czech and Czechoslovak artists were frequent participants in the competitions. Except for Antwerp 1920 and Amsterdam 1928, they represented Czechoslovakia in large numbers until the time of the first Olympic Games after World War II in London 1948. In total, works by more than 50 Czechoslovak artists were presented and some were remarkably successful. Two composers Josef Suk and Jaroslav Křička and a sculptor Jakub Obrovský were even awarded Olympic medals in the 1930s. We will take a closer look at these achievements and present their works. The article aims to present a lesser known but important place of art competitions in the history of the modern Olympic movement and to recall the achievements of Czech and Czechoslovak artists.

Abstract:
The article studies the development of guitar art in Ukraine at the beginning of the XXIst century. This topic is virtually not researched in domestic musicology. All the research is primarily devoted to pan-European trends or regional school. For the first time, this study analyzes various aspects of the activity of the Guitarists Association of the NUMU (National All-Ukrainian Music Union) presenting historical material on the formation of guitar art in Ukraine, and information on outstanding musicians of the past. Factual material on the history of the National All-Ukrainian Music Union and the Association of Guitarists as its creative center has been gathered. The article traces the development of the guitar movement in Ukraine at the beginning of the new century from the First All-Ukrainian Festival-Competition of Guitar Art of Valery Petrenko to the presentday events. It emphasizes ways of development of competitive activity, the case of Oleg Stefaniuk Open Competition of Music Masters (2019), online competitions of performers "Guitar Play" and competition "Compoguitar". The only specialized magazine Guitar in Ukraine, published regularly since 2008, facilitates the promotion of the guitar art. Abstract:
This research delves into the intricate landscape of commercialization within dance crew competitions, employing a focused examination of prominent television series, notably the widely recognized "Dancemania." As the dance competition model gains unprecedented popularity and financial success, there is a discernible risk that the core authenticity of this expressive art form may be compromised. Rather than adhering to artistic values, there is a growing concern that these competitions may veer towards catering primarily to mass entertainment tastes. To comprehensively unravel the increasing commercial influences and economic incentives shaping the competition format, this study employs a multifaceted approach. Interviews and surveys are conducted, drawing perspectives from dance professionals, competitors, and television producers intimately involved in the dance competition milieu. Through qualitative insights and firsthand accounts, the paper aims to shed light on the evolving dynamics propelled by commercial interests. Quantitative data analysis forms a critical component of this research, uncovering correlations that exist between success metrics and influential factors, such as viewership ratings, which may take precedence over the technical prowess of dance ability. The findings from this analysis serve as a catalyst for discussions surrounding potential policy and structural adjustments. The overarching objective is to realign the priorities of competitive dance with a renewed emphasis on artistic values, countering the prevailing trend of prioritizing commercial interests. This research signals the need for holistic interventions and shifts in the competition landscape to preserve the inherent artistic integrity of dance within a commercialized context.

Abstract:
Autonomous motorsports aim to replicate the human race-car driver with software and sensors. As in traditional motorsports, Autonomous Racing Vehicles (ARVs) are pushed to their handling limits in multiagent scenarios at extremely high ( 150 mph) speeds. This Operational Design Domain (ODD) presents unique challenges across the autonomy stack. The Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC) is an international competition aiming to advance autonomous vehicle development through ARV competitions. While far from challenging what a human race-car driver can do, the IAC is pushing the state of the art by facilitating full-sized ARV competitions. This paper details the MIT-Pitt-RW Team’s approach to autonomous racing in the IAC. In this work, we present our modular and fast approach to agent detection, motion planning and controls to create an autonomy stack. We also provide analysis of the performance of the software stack in single and multiagent scenarios for rapid deployment in a fast-paced competition environment. We also cover what did and did not work when deployed on a physical system (the Dallara AV-21 platform) and potential improvements to address these shortcomings. Finally, we convey lessons learned and discuss limitations and future directions for improvement.

In connection with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine «On State Regulation of Activities Concerning the Organization and Conduct of Gambling» № 768-IX of July 14, 2020, the gambling business was legalized in Ukraine. This law, in particular, is intended to regulate the organization and conduct of gambling on the Internet. However, the legislator with this step further complicated the application of Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the ban on placing bets on sports related to the manipulation of official sports competitions with the result of improper advantage). After all, before the legalization of the gambling business, information about convicted individuals under Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were absent. As part of the study, a survey was conducted among operational and investigative officers of the National Police of Ukraine in Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region (230 respondents) and it was found that today there is a very high level of latency of crimes under Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (190 respondents indicated, which is 83 % of the total number of respondents) and problems with the use of evidence in the judiciary (203 respondents, which is 88 % of the total number of respondents). Based on the study of doctrinal sources and empirical material this scientific article determines the forms of manifestation of the objective side of the illegal influence on the results of official sports competitions and it was established that the crime prescribed by Part 1 of Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in the first form is committed exclusively by active actions (bribery, coercion, incitement or conspiracy) – material in construction. In the second form, the illegal influence on the results of official sports competitions, prescribed by Part 1 of Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is committed by passive actions, and lies in obtaining illegal benefits for themselves or a third party. It is formal, because the consequences are not mandatory. The crime provided by Part 3 of Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is material, is committed exclusively through active action, and is completed only in the event of socially dangerous consequences, which are defined as a mandatory feature of Part 3 of Art. 369-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and are in violation of the ban on betting on sports. The author believes that the study of the content of the crime, and in particular the objective side, affects the correct solution of emerging issues of criminal law regulation and requires constant scientific research.

Abstract:
In this paper, I shall explore the relationship between predictive text2image technology and art. To do this, I shall navigate the discursive landscape that facilitates the consideration of this cultural phenomenon within a rational framework. This is necessary because public discourse is mostly dominated by unrealistic expectations resulting from identifying this technology as “Artificial Intelligence.” The theoretical frame is posthumanism, which affords us the necessary intellectual tools to scrutinise the genesis of what Manovich calls “predictive media.” Equipped with the appropriate terminology, I will explore the process of the creation of images with a special focus on prompt engineering and curation to showcase the collaborative effort of the artist and the application. Furthermore, I shall refer to the competitions (Sony, Főfotó) wherein this technology plays a consequential role, to traditional art forms that share some crucial features with this technology, and some concerns related to predictive media will be raised. Through this analysis, I argue that contrary to early responses, predictive media applications bear the hallmark of art, and their creators rightfully merit the designation of artists.

Abstract:
Interest and participation in competitive Martial Arts such as Taekwondo, Karate, Kung Fu, Aikido, and Tai Chi is growing in children, adolescent as well as in adults in the USA and worldwide. Competitive Martial Arts require daily training weeks and sometimes, months prior to the start of a competition or tournament. The training period could be for a few hours daily over a period of one to six months with one or two days for every one week for rest and recovery. The types and extents of injuries after competition depend upon the form of Martial Arts and the type of physical contact. They include muscle, joint, head and neck, groin, upper and lower extremities, and soft tissues. Some acute injuries can be taken care of at home and the injured may recover quickly. Some injuries may require hospitalization and even surgery; while others may take longer period to recover and require stoppage in training. The training involves daily exercises during which moderate levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced. ROS activates a transcriptional factor Nrf2 (nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2) which enhances the levels of antioxidant enzymes; and thereby, reduces oxidative stress. Because of this observation, some investigators have suggested that supplementation with micronutrient and antioxidant compounds is not necessary for reducing injuries and improving the rate of healing from injury. Appropriate diet recommended for Martial Arts athletes are sufficient to reduce oxidative damage and protect against injuries that occur during Martial Arts competitions. The use of a single antioxidant in reducing oxidative stress has produced inconsistent results in reducing the markers of oxidative stress. The limitations of such an approach are briefly discussed. This review has proposed a mixture of micronutrients which may reduce oxidative stress and improve performance in Martial Arts competitions. In addition, some beneficial effects of Martial Arts are also described.

Abstract:
The 1908 Decree on Architectural Design Competitions and the Reasons for its Creation: Irregularities, Abuses of Power and Entanglements The democratic idea of architectural design competition came to existence in the Age of Enlightenment, with the aim of ensuring that an edifice is erected according to the most suitable design, while providing the most apt architect the chance to succeed. By the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the number of domestic planning applications had increased in Hungary, especially for larger public structures, and problems along with them. In this paper, I will first describe the process which due to the efforts of the Hungarian Society of Engineers and Architects led to the issuing of the Minister of Commerce's Decree No. 79 049 of 1908 regarding the regulation of architectural design competitions. Then I will outline the main points of the regulation, sharing examples to highlight the irregularities that arose as a consequence of the secrecy regarding the tenders, deadlines, the construction programme and its budget, the size of plans, as well as the abuse of power by the evaluation committee, necessitating the creation of the regulation. The lesson to be learnt is that by the time the legislation could take effect, public works for which tenders were to be invited had already been ended due to the outbreak of the First World War. In addition, the constant recurrence of scandals caused serious moral damage to Hungarian art.

Abstract:The global geography of art has changed greatly in recent years. Whereas global art hubs were formerly found only in the West, they now exist in locations all over the world, including Africa. Though some art worlds in Asia and Latin America have been studied in recent times, there is insufficient empirical data on art worlds in Africa. This is a study of the Lagos art world, which shows how an “art system,” with all of its attendant structures and agents, has emerged in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, in the last few years. Lagos reflects the dynamics of globalization and is building up the art infrastructure and the critical mass needed for a sustainable art world: an ambitious and fast-growing group of young local collectors, an art fair, an international photography festival, regular art auctions, new art galleries, historical and critical publications, a university art museum, symposiums, art foundations, residencies, and competitions. Lagos is becoming not only a “global city,” but also a “global art hub.”

Abstract:
This study analyzes the performance of the West Bandung Regency contingent at the Pekan Olahraga Provinsi (PORPROV) XIV Jawa Barat. It specifically focuses on how the strategic integration of music selection and thematic presentation might improve the overall performance. The marching band sport involves teams competing in four competitions. The competitions include Lomba Baris Berbaris (LBB) Marching Competition, Lomba Unjuk Gelar (LUG), Lomba Berbaris Jarak Pendek / Short Distance Marching Competition (LBJP), and Lomba Ketahanan dan Ketepatan Berbaris (LKKB) / The Endurance and Accuracy Marching Competition. In order to effectively engage audiences and judges, bands must enhance and perfect their aesthetic and thematic techniques as the level of competition increases. The study utilized a qualitative research methodology, which involved active involvement and careful observation for analysis. We participated in marching band activities and closely observed practices and performances in order to acquire a thorough comprehension of the aesthetic and conceptual components. Data were gathered via observations, and discussions and examined using an analytical framework rooted in the literature on music aesthetics and performance art. This framework evaluated the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and visual depiction. The results emphasize the significance of carefully choosing music, maintaining theme consistency, and using visual components to provide a captivating performance. The topic chosen by the West Bandung contingent, "Flight and Movement," together with their smart selection of music, showcased the ability of thoughtful curation and dynamic arrangements to amplify the story and emotional resonance. The utilization of intensive rehearsals and coordinated visual elements had a pivotal role in attaining elevated levels of audience engagement and competitive triumph.

Abstract:
Modern society has transformed from a writing culture to a tapping culture through the daily life of computers and smartphones. As a result, the culture of exclusive attack has changed from an emotional recording culture to a culture of contemplative patience to a culture of impatience that shouts quickly. A culture that was accustomed to expressing emotional implications while writing and drawing changes to an exclusive emotion that strikes, spouts, and attacks while tapping, leading to school violence by being considerate of others, holding back anger, or failing to follow the rules. Therefore, arts and physical education and character education must be strengthened to reduce violent tendencies and cultivate feelings of patience and consideration, and calligraphy is a field that can satisfy this at the same time. The normalization of calligraphy education is a prerequisite for promoting calligraphy, and the normalization of calligraphy education is to expand calligraphy education in the elementary and secondary curriculum. To this end, an institutional mechanism is needed to experience calligraphy through non-subjects in children's and adolescents, such as a policy to revitalize calligraphy education in art subjects as a pilot project under national support, and to actively support after-school classes or creative experience activities. In other words, if support policies such as accessibility, professionalism, and education budget are prepared at the national level, the ripple effect of calligraphy education can be expected. In addition, even if professional manpower is trained based on Article 7 of the Calligraphy Promotion Act (cultivation of calligraphy education professionals, etc.), a mid- to long-term policy to supply and demand professional manpower should be prepared. According to the Calligraphy Promotion Act, professional manpower has majored in calligraphy or has been in the calligraphy field for more than 10 years, and after retraining them at a professional manpower training institution, an alternative to where and how to use them is needed. In other words, it is urgent to prepare a policy that can be assigned as professional manpower who can be in charge of research, education, planning, and administration at the national level. To this end, establishing a policy to institutionalize professional manpower into a separate 'calligraphy educator' (tentative name) and assign it to related institutions will provide the minimum opportunity for the calligraphy field to play any social role or contribute. On the other hand, the proportion of calligraphy in contemporary art is very low. In other words, although the calligraphy population is relatively large, there are still many apprenticeship education and competition-oriented work activities due to the nature of the field, so there are relatively few majors compared to the general art field. In addition, work activities centered on competitions and group competitions rather than individual exhibitions, and works based on generalized composition and similar repetition rather than creative works due to the nature of the event are prominent. For this reason, in other general art fields, there are many cold or sometimes outspoken criticism and disparagement of calligraphy, and even calligraphy is treated very insignificant in contemporary art. However, there is a problem that the art ecosystem is destroyed due to the marginal treatment of calligraphy in the public art market, such as the purchase of works by museums and art galleries, and the provision of invitation exhibition opportunities for artists in each field. It suggested a policy-making direction to solve this problem.

However, there is a problem that the art ecosystem is destroyed due to the marginal treatment of calligraphy in the public art market, such as the purchase of works by museums and art galleries, and the provision of invitation exhibition opportunities for artists in each field. It suggested a policy-making direction to solve this problem.

Abstract:
Meizhou, known for its Hakka culture and a strong commitment to education, has historical and cultural significance, with a rich tradition of education. This study examines the current state of art education in different regions of Meizhou City, focusing on teacher resources and the participation and outcomes of the "Lin Fengmian Cup" painting competition in 2021. The study analyzes teacher resources and educational outcomes in both urban and rural areas, revealing disparities. Based on data collected from the painting competition, it is evident that participation and performance in art education vary significantly across regions. Urban areas tend to have higher participation and better outcomes, reflecting greater access to resources and opportunities. In contrast, economically underdeveloped rural areas face challenges in art education. The study underscores the importance of addressing these disparities, enhancing teacher resources, and providing policy and financial support for art education in less-developed regions. Promoting educational equity and advancing comprehensive quality education are essential for fostering well-rounded students and promoting social progress.
