Abstract:
To optimize the workflow of civil engineering construction in a harbour, this paper developed a framework of the contaminant leaching assessment carried out on the stabilized/solidified dredged soil material. The specimens included the sampled sediments collected from the in situ fieldwork in Arendal and Kongshavn. The background levels of the concentration of pollutants were evaluated to assess the cumulative surface leaching of substances from samples over two months. The contamination of soil was assessed using a structured workflow scheme on the following toxic substances, heavy metals—As, Pb, Cd, Cr, Hg, Ni, and Zn; organic compounds—PAH-16 and PCB; and organotin compounds—TBT. The numerical computation and data analysis were applied to the results of geochemical testing creating computerised solutions to soil quality evaluation in civil engineering. Data modelling enabled the estimation of leaching of the contaminants in one year. The estimated leaching of As is 0.9153 mg/m2, for Ni—2.8178 mg/m2, for total PAH-16 as 0.0507 mg/m2, and for TBT—0.00061 mg/m2 per year. The performance of the sediments was examined with regard to permeability through a series of the controlled experiments. The environmental engineering tests were implemented in the Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) in a triplicate mode over 64 days. The results were compared for several sites and showed that the amount of As is slightly higher in Kongshavn than for Arendal, while the content of Cd, Cr, and Ni is lower. For TBT, the levels are significantly lower than for those at Arendal. The algorithm of permeability tests evaluated the safety of foundation soil for construction of embankments and structures. The optimized assessment methods were applied for monitoring coastal areas through the evaluated permeability of soil and estimated leaching rates of heavy metals, PHB, PACs, and TBT in selected test sites in harbours of southern Norway.

Abstract:
Norwegian retroflexion exhibits some phonetic properties that do not seem to ‘make sense’. In Standard East Norwegian, an alveolar /ɾ/ causes a following alveolar coronal to become postalveolar, and in the Frogner and Arendal dialects of Norwegian, the same postalveolarisation process is triggered by a uvular /ʁ/. Comparative analyses of Norwegian dialects reveal that these properties are the results of historical changes and phonological diffusion across dialects. Theories attempting to analyse Norwegian retroflexion as phonetically ‘natural’ can neither fully account for these properties of Norwegian retroflexion nor capture the typological generalisations found across Norwegian dialects.

Abstract:
Background. Heart rhythm disorders are common and may be associated with serious complications. The quality of the ECG signal is crucial to detect and classify arrhythmias. Most available devices for assessment arrhythmias do not allow for remote monitoring. The Norwegian ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor is a new remote patch monitor developed to simplify the assessment of arrhythmias. This study was aimed at evaluating the quality of the ECG signal from the ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor compared to standard 12-lead ECG. Methods. ECG recordings with ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor and a standard 12-lead ECG recorder were performed in 97 volunteers at Sorlandet Hospital, Arendal, Norway, in 2019. All ECGs were analysed by two independent cardiologists. Results. A total of 97 participants (53% men, age 48 (±14) years) were included in the study. The ability for both systems to use recorded ECG data for arrhythmia detection was good (100%). The quality of the P-wave (mean score 1.1 vs. 1.5) and the QRS complex (mean score 1.0 vs. 1.0) from the ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor and that from the 12-lead ECG were comparable (scale: 1: extremely good, 9: not accepted). Noise artefacts were a minor issue in all recordings. Conclusions. The ECG quality from the ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor was comparable to the ECG quality from the standard 12-lead ECG. The ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor may enable easy and remote diagnostics of heart rhythm disorders. This trial is registered with NCT04700865.

Abstract:
This work reconstructs Hannah Arendt’s own analyses of the different human activities: work, labour and action in her influential work The Human Condition. Using Arendt’s concept of plurality, not only as mere means for political and/or human diversity, but as a paradigm, the first part further examines to what extent plurality unfolds through the particular activities. Whilst Arendt’s famous conception about ”the rise of the social” is certainly hard to ignore, it is here argued that, there are different ways to adress this notion. The second part is a comparative analysis with Arendt and Sophie Loidolts book Phenomenology of Plurality: Hannah Arendt on Political Intersubjectivity. In that regard this essay also seeks to perceive plurality not only as a paradigm, but through a phenomenological lens, something Loidolt states has been overlooked prior. Loidolts essential argument here is that Arendt uses a phenomenological vocabulary, and its mainly the thematic concepts which she uses thats been analysed and defined - they don’t leave any proper phenomenological traces. However, since Arendt uses a phenomenological vocabulary, operative concepts are also present in her political thought, which clearly have a phenomenological background. According to Loidolt, they are usually left undefined and un-analysed. The second part undertakes such an assignment, that is, applying the phenomenological tools containing in the The Human Condition. What this means is that by analysing and defining the operative concepts, they become tools to understand the thematic concepts. But, what happens with Arendt’s political virtue when exercising the phenomenological tools presented by Loidolt? In this second part, I argue that there is a risk we are drifting away from the political in Arendt’s thought when focusing too much on her evident phenomenological background.

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the usability phenomena of sport arenas and what values it brings to different stakeholders. The thesis is a multiple case study of Olympia and Helsingborg Arena in Helsingborg city. Both arenas are built and owned by the municipality and are used for sports and entertainment purposes of various themes. The main stakeholders that have been part of the thesis are the Helsingborg municipality administration of School and Leisure administration (responsible of green surfaces at the arenas), HASAB (a municipally owned corporation that manages Helsingborg Arena), HISO (organization of local sport clubs in Helsingborg) and FC Helsingborg (an elite floorball club playing and training at Helsingborg Arena). For this study, a stakeholder model has been applied together with theoretical concepts of utilization, localization and efficiency & productivity to create a theoretical framework. This case study is a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews with key informants. Moreover, secondary data in reports and on websites connected to the different stakeholders have been analyzed and presented. Representatives have been interviewed from each organization and stakeholder in order to understand their view and perspective on usability with regard to Helsingborg Arena and Olympia. The results of this study presents an understanding that modern and new arenas create opportunities for more clubs to use advanced and better equipped venues for their activities and offers usability for other purposes than just sport-related activities. However, the results in this study shows us also that building new, modern sport arenas does not necessarily result in satisfactory usability for all actors. According to the results, the local clubs and schools tend to look for other sport venues due to the fact that they have to reschedule and change the venue for their activities when larger events occupy the arena. This leads to lower attractiveness for some stakeholders, which affects the usability of the arena. However, arenas of a high level increase attractiveness for producers and organizations to use the arenas for their products and competitions. Localization plays a decisive role for the accessibility of the sport arenas and creates a large sports oasis in the central of Helsingborg offering more than five sport halls at the same area. Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Mandatory auditing for the smallest limited companies in Sweden was abolished in 2010, mainly to reduce the cost burden for these small companies. This created different reactions among the companies' external stakeholders, both positive and negative. It was seen as positive for business in Sweden, but there was also concerns expressed about the risk of errors in the accounts and the declarations, and that they would increase when an auditor is no longer obligated to review them. These errors can result in improperly recognized tax and increased tax error. Tax error includes all errors that have an impact on the reported tax, and they can be both intentional and unintentional. Tax error affects many parties around the company, including the stakeholders operating in the social political arena, so called Stakekeepers. They do not have any direct relation to the company's business, but they have an indirect impact on the company through its influence on public opinion and legislation. These stakeholders' reactions and standingpoints is today a relatively unexplored area within the stakeholder theory, and this theoretical knowledge is important in order to create an understanding of what is happening on the social political arena. As these stakeholders have influence on legislation, the legislators must take their opinions into account in its reports on new legislative changes. During 2015, the government will undertake an assessment of the abolition of the mandatory auditing in 2010, to possibly conduct a further increase in the limits for mandatory auditing, and thus make the audit optional for more companies. The study aims to describe and explain how stakeholders in the social political arena perceive the tax error development, whether and how they relate this trend to the abolition of the mandatory auditing, and further what motivates and influences their position regarding a possible future limit raise. To meet this objective, the study was performed with a qualitative study in the form of interviews with four different stakeholders from the social political arena. The analysis of the empirical data, with the support of the theoretical framework, resulted in three conclusions. The first is about the different perceptions regarding the tax development among stakeholders in the social political arena, due to their professional skills. The second is that they are driven and influenced by their representation, particularly if they are representing the public or the private sector. The last conclusion is about the factors that affect how the stakeholders relate to a possible future limit raise. These factors are their representation, responsibility and their trust in larger companies accounting.

Abstract:

Rudyk, Myroslava. BLOGGING PLATFORMS AS ARENAS FOR THE MEDIA ACTIVITIES OF CITIZEN JOURNALISTS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, March 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2024.54-55.12164.

Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the investigation of blogging platforms as information and communication arenas during wartime. It analyzes the media activities of citizen journalists as a crucial component of the overall information landscape in Ukraine, outlining the peculiarities of their work, the specifics of information dissemination, and the prospects for the development of citizen journalism as a whole. The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism are highlighted. Journalism is one of the most dynamic spheres of our existence, and the information space in Ukraine has undergone significant changes since the full-scale war. The development of technological tools always transforms journalism, elevating it to new levels of possibilities. The use of modern blogging platforms, widely accessible not only to professional journalists but also to activists, has contributed to powerful changes in the information sector. Citizen journalism during the Russo-Ukrainian war has taken on entirely different dimensions than before, prompting new reflections on the role of citizen journalists. This expands the scope of the researched issue, from ethical considerations and adherence to journalistic standards to understanding the safety of information activities for both journalists and humanity as a whole. Not every blogger can be called a citizen journalist. The crucial characteristic of citizen journalism, as opposed to mere blogging, is self-awareness, active social action, dedication to an idea, drawing attention to a problem, lobbying for public interests, and serving the function of public control. In the article were examined the activities of citizen journalists, who meet professional standards and exemplify citizen journalism. These include Ihor Lachenkov, Serhiy Sternenko, and Kostyantyn Liberov. Their blogging platforms and social networks were analysed, their content characterised, and posting frequency assessed. The activities of citizen journalists become most in-demand when media representatives cannot capture an event promptly at a particular moment. Citizen journalists find it easier to disseminate information through blogging platforms and social media, especially considering the tremendous trust these platforms enjoy. Survey results illustrate the colossal trust in these platforms. When asked, «What mass media tools did citizens use to get news in 2022?» the responses were as follows: 1. Social networks – 74%, 2. News websites – 42%, 3. Television – 36%, Radio – 11%, Print media – 3%. We observe a trend in the Ukrainian information space where some bloggers position themselves as citizen journalists, even though they previously did not have such a pronounced civic position. This trend became particularly evident at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine when influencers started using their blogs to inform their audience about the events in Ukraine, mobilizing them for active volunteer actions and resisting enemy challenges. Keywords: citizen journalism, information dissemination, blogging platforms, war.

Abstract:
Following the research strategy put in practice in the project behind Stein et al. (2008), Policymaking in Latin America: How Politics Shapes Policies, this project will be a collective and interactive process among various country teams and the coordinators. We will build a number of country studies structured around a common set of questions. The objective of this paper is to put together some theoretical axes as well as a number of guiding questions to serve as background to the country studies, but the overall comparative framework will be jointly developed throughout the project with feedback from and cross-fertilization among the country studies.
