Abstract:
The proportion of a firm's market-area that is within a given, small, proportional difference in delivered-price between itself and its principal competitor, is an important measure of spatial competition. It is shown that for regular triangular and irregular spatial patterns of firms, areas of intense spatial competition are larger when transport costs are proportional to euclidean distances rather than to block distances, but this is not true for a regular square pattern. In an irregular pattern of firms, for each metric, the proportion of a firm's market-area in the area of intense spatial competition varies markedly from firm to firm. The locational and pricing behavior of firms is expected to be influenced by the size and locations of these areas of spatial competition.

Abstract:
We have detected 8,968 ultraviolet-excess galaxies in a sky area of some 5,100 square degrees by means of the UGR three-image photographs with the 105 cm Kiso Schmidt, giving a number density of 1.8 per square degree. A net count of the objects is 8,162, deleting those which appear repeatedly in the neighbouring survey area. For each of these galaxies which we call KUGs, data including morphological type and UV-excess degree are listed in a catalogue series of 18 volumes. Some statistics of these KUGs are also given in the last volume.

The working end of Law Degree is called to develop an important role when we consider that the European Higher Education Area is the student manager of his own learning and is considered essential that the student of law, among other skills, to acquire critical thinking skills, investigation techniques, personal development work and use of legal principles and fundamental values as a working tool in the interpretation of the legal system. The development of the working end of Law Degree in order to allow the student to a specific topic in depth and learn to develop a basic legal research. The work will enable the assessment of skills associated with the title of Bachelor of Laws. To highlight an element of the research is that development of it should be conducted in an orderly and systematic manner for which the teacher's work is essential from the outset. In this sense, the student, with guidance from the teacher must identify a target as the first topic of study. Much of the importance of the work lies in the student's learning method and technique to use. At this point, given that the study is done in the legal field, the work must be developed in stages, which are discussed in the communication. One final aspect to take into account and that is also the subject of analysis is the defense of the research to be undertaken before a court of teachers. The paper shall provide thoughts on what this job should be to grade, allowing students to deepen a specific topic and learn how to develop a basic legal research. It also examines the role to develop both the tutor and the student throughout the work until the presentation and defense of the court appointed by the Faculty concerned.

Abstract:
Abstract Estimating the degree of vulnerability of a region implies both the identification of the dependencies as well as of the interdependencies. The dependencies refer to a set of physical, social, economic, environmental and political-military conditions and processes and the interdependencies have in view physical, cyber, geographical and logical aspects that may indirectly affect the daily rhythm of the population, the economy or even the national security. The present paper aims at estimating the degree of vulnerability by constructing a model that would determine the index of vulnerability associated to a given area, an index that is directly dependent on demographic, economic, governmental factors, on the interdependence with other sectors and also on the history of the events that occurred in the area in the recent years.

Abstract:
In the process of the wireless sensor network research, the issue on the energy consumption and coverage is an essential and critical one. According to the characteristic of the sensor nodes, it is homogeneous, and we proposed the k-degree coverage algorithm based on optimization nodes deployment. First, the algorithm gives the solving procedure of the maximum seamless coverage ratio, when the three-node joint coverage has been provided. Second, when the sensor nodes are covering the monitoring area, the algorithm gives the solving procedure of the expected coverage quality and the judgment methods of the coverage ratio, when the nodes are compared with the nearby ones. And when there is redundancy coverage in the given monitoring area, we have given the solving procedure of any sensor nodes that exist in the redundant nodes coverage. Finally, using the simulation experiment, the results of the coverage algorithm based on optimization nodes deployment are compared with other algorithms in terms of the coverage quality and the network lifetime, the performance indexes have enhanced to 13.36% and 12.92% on average. Thus, the effectiveness and viability of the coverage algorithm based on optimization nodes deployment have been proved.

Given a graph G, a spanning subgraph H of G is a t-spanner if for every edge xy of G, the distance in H between x and y is at most t. Spanners have applications in communication networks, distributed systems, parallel computation, and other areas. This paper is concerned with the complexity of determining whether a graph contains a t-spanner whose maximum degree is at most Δ, where Δ, t≥2 are fixed integers. The problem is shown to be NP-complete for any fixed Δ≥4 and t≥2, and linear for Δ=2 and any fixed t≥2. The problem for Δ=3 is open. Furthermore, if the t-spanner in the problem is required to be a tree, then the problem becomes linear. The problem also becomes linear when input graphs are partial k-trees for some fixed integer k.

Abstract:
This paper shows the objective necessity of improving the information security systems under the development of information and telecommunication technologies. The paper for the first time involves a new area of NP-complete problems from Diophantine analysis, namely, multi-degree systems of Diophantine equations of a given dimension and degree of Tarry-Escott type. Based on a fundamentally new number-theoretic method, a mathematical model of an alphabetic information security system (ISS) has been developed that generalizes the principle of building cryptosystems with a public key – the so called dissymmetric bigram cryptosystem. This implies to implement direct and inverse transformations according to a given algorithm based on a two-parameter solution of a multi-degree system of Diophantine equations. A formalized algorithm has been developed for the specified model of a dissymmetric bigram cryptosystem and a training example based on a normal multi-degree system of Diophantine equations of the fifth degree is presented.

The diversity and distribution of the Bivalvia fauna is examined in the various seas of Greek territorial waters. There is a statistically significant correlation between the bibliographical sources and the recorded variety of Bivalvia at any given area, with the deeper areas containing fewer species. Attention is given to some species ‘introduced’ into the area.Cluster analysis, based on the species present at 30 regions which represent distinct geographical and ecological units, do not show any differentiation that corresponds to a geographical pattern. However, a distinct group is associated with the deeper open areas, which suggests that ecological parameters, such as depth and degree of enclosure, play an important role in the distribution of species.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper analyzes the skin-effect influence on ACSR conductors for overhead lines. The analysis is based on numerical models: one cylinder, and two coaxial cylinders, and cylinders layers. The authors compare all models with each other, as well as with the well-known analytical solution, and direct current mode. All numerical models were verified by comparison with the analytical solution. The results show the one cylinder model get incorrect results for ACSR conductors. Moreover, the maximum error about 40% is given by conductors with a medium cross-sectional area, such as the ”AC 240/39” conductor by GOST 839-2019. The two coaxial cylinders model gives better results but about 10% less than the cylinders layers model, since it does not consider the electric field penetration between wires of a conductor. As a result, the authors conclude that the skin effect has a great influence for all ACSR conductors.

Abstract:
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been extended to cross-efficiency to provide better discrimination and ranking of decision-making units (DMUs). Current researches about cross-efficiency mainly focus on the non-uniqueness of optimal solution of linear programming and information aggregation. As a common distance metric, standardized Euclidean distance is introduced to define the discrimination power between two vectors and the deviation degree for measuring the difference between the individual preference and group ideal preference. Based on above definitions, an alternative method is presented to compare multiple optimal solutions, and further, a universal weighted cross-efficiency model considering both dynamic adjustment of weights and preference formulation is constructed for evaluation and ranking. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the comparison method for multiple optimal solutions and weights determination method of DMUs, respectively. At last, a practical application aimed at evaluating environmental treatment efficiency in western area of China is given. Comparative analysis shows that our model could be more moderate, flexible, and general than some available models and methods, which can extend the theoretical research of cross-efficiency evaluation.

Abstract:
Economic accounts at sub-territorial level are projected primarily through Location Quotients (LQ). The degrees of sectoral specialisation at this level will therefore be key in spatial projections. This article advocates rectified use of the Cross-Industry Location Quotient (CILQ). Indirectly, the aim is to check to what extent CILQs are well exploited, given that they are the fundamental reference in other techniques. The input-output (IO) tables for the Euro 19 Area for 2010 and 2015 are taken as a reference for analysis purposes. A statistic is used to measure the degree of similarity between the accounting frameworks of ten countries in the Euro Area and their projections using CILQ, Flegg's formula, its augmented version, and the CILQ variant.

Abstract:
While human–wildlife conflicts are an emerging problem in urban areas, wildlife conservation is needed to sustain human life. Because the degree of conflict depends on land cover types and housing density classes, land-use policies intended to influence both resident and wildlife behavior are needed. This paper numerically simulates the optimal urban boundary regulation to reduce human–coyote conflicts and conserve the ecosystem. Given the parameters of the Denver Metropolitan Area, the optimal location of the urban boundary is estimated as 1 km farther away from the market city boundary. As a result of the optimization more coyotes emerge in urban areas, while fewer herbivores and plants emerge in natural habitats. Because of a “cascade effect”, that is, secondary-and-later effects on the number of certain species through a food chain, the optimal result sees the number of plants increase with a smaller natural habitat than the market size. This indicates that because both direct and cascade effects are affected by the degree of land-use policies, it is necessary to consider the cascade effect when designing these policies.

Abstract:
Concerns to setting an appropriate overall macroprudential policy framework have taken shape at local, regional, and global level since the onset of the global financial crisis. At regional level, a particular case is that of the European Union, given the national-supranational relationship specific to this economic region. The article aims to identify the macroprudential policy condition of the Euro Area candidate countries, by using an index built on some criteria that describe on the one hand, the capacity of macroprudential policy governance and the “activism” of macroprudential authority, and, on the other hand, the degree of compliance with the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) recommendations for national macroprudential authorities, given that the countries under review are member states of the European Union. Our findings show that the Euro Area candidate countries have quite different macroprudential policy features, both in terms of its governance and in terms of the “convergence” towards ESRB recommendations. Although the analysis should be extended by adding other relevant criteria, we can assert that it offers an overview of the potential role of the national macroprudential policy as a shock-absorber instrument in the perspective of a future accession to the Euro Area.

Abstract A demographic view of the ageing process of a population provides an assessmentof the degree of development of this phenomenon and its dynamics at a given time in a given area, such as an administrative unit, a country or other territory. In this study, the main research aim was to assess the demographic situation of rural areas in Eastern Poland in the context of an ageing population. Changes in both the number of people and the demographic structure of the population living in the region were analysed. The time period of the research covered the years 2008-2020. Statistical data used in the study were derived from the Local Data Bank of Statistics Poland. The assessment of the regional specificity of the processes of demographic changes in rural areas was based on the study of the relationships in the analyzed parameters, with the use of statistical measures defining the range of variability of the examined characteristics. In order to achieve the main aim of the study, a typology of the areas with a disturbed age structure was developed. Four groups of rural areas have been identified (labelled from A to D) which are characterised by varying degrees of advancement of the examined problem in 2020.

Abstract:
Cortical neurons selective for the direction of motion often exhibit some limited response to motion in their nonpreferred directions. Here we examine the dependence of neuronal direction selectivity on stimulus contrast, both for first-order (luminance-modulated, sine-wave grating) and second-order (contrast-modulated envelope) stimuli. We measured responses from single neurons in area 18 of cat visual cortex to both kinds of moving stimuli over a wide range of contrasts (1.25–80%). Direction-selective contrast response functions (CRFs) were calculated as the preferred-minus-null difference in average firing frequency as a function of contrast. We also applied receiver operating characteristic analysis to our CRF data to obtain neurometric functions characterizing the potential ability of each neuron to discriminate motion direction at each contrast level tested. CRFs for sine-wave gratings were usually monotonic; however, a substantial minority of neurons (35%) exhibited nonmonotonic CRFs (such that the degree of direction selectivity decreased with increasing contrast). The underlying preferred and nonpreferred direction CRFs were diverse, often having different shapes in a given neuron. Neurometric functions for direction discrimination showed a similar degree of heterogeneity, including instances of nonmonotonicity. For contrast-modulated stimuli, however, CRFs for either carrier or envelope contrast were always monotonic. In a given neuron, neurometric thresholds were typically much higher for second- than for first-order stimuli. These results demonstrate that the degree of a cell's direction selectivity depends on the contrast at which it is measured, and therefore is not a characteristic parameter of a neuron. In general, contrast response functions for first-order stimuli were very heterogeneous in shape and sensitivity, while those for second-order stimuli showed less sensitivity and were quite stereotyped in shape.

Specifically, this study investigates what kinds of events are typical at phrase endings given various melodic conditions, i.e., how well melodic structure is a predictor of modulation and cadence choices. Each fermata event was analyzed by ear and encoded with regard to the local key area and the cadence type. The frequency of each cadence type was then tabulated with respect to categorizations of the melodic structure (in terms of the intervallic pattern and scale degree content) prior to the fermata. It is shown that most fermata events can be categorized by a small collection of event types. As a result, a simplified conceptual model of cadence choice is posited. This model proposes that a basic harmonization default is to (re-)interpret the soprano note at the fermata as scale-degree 1, 2, or 3 in some closely-related key area via an authentic or half cadence. The efficacy of this model is found to be very good, especially given certain conditions. Moreover, an overall success rate above 90% can be achieved through only four additional concepts.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to focus on developing a deep understanding of the nature and impact of the workplace mentor role in degree apprenticeships (DAs). It investigates a theoretical model of DA workplace mentoring activity, with findings used to develop a set of principles for supporting the development of effective mentoring practice. Design/methodology/approach Data underpinning this paper were collected as part of the monitoring and evaluation of the first year of a Chartered Manager DA programme at a post-1992 university. Workplace mentors and mentees were interviewed to explore their experience of mentoring within this programme. Findings This study found there to be many positive benefits of workplace mentoring for apprentices, their mentors and the organisation. This understanding can be used to support the development of principles for effective mentoring practice. Research limitations/implications The data support the validity of the proposed model for DA workplace mentoring activity. In order to become a helpful guide to mentors’ planning of areas of support, the model may need to be refined to show the relative importance given to each activity area. The findings of this small-scale study need now to be extended through work with a larger sample. Practical implications The set of principles offered will be valuable to workplace mentors of degree apprentices across organisational sectors to ensure the quality of delivery and outcomes. Originality/value This paper contributes to an understanding of the impact of mentoring as a social practice on mentor and apprentice development. Such an understanding has the potential to positively influence the quality of delivery, mentoring practice and thus apprentices’ learning.

Abstract:
The paper discusses the vector field, which is the movement of the earth’s crust. This motion is recorded using various modern methods and is considered as a transformation for which the degree of mapping can be calculated. At the beginning of the paper showes the various coordinate systems and methods of recording. Then there is a description of the tables in which the coordinates and their changes over time are entered. From these data, for some regions, the table of angles can be constructed and the degree of mapping calculated. The results of calculations allow us to draw conclusions about the presence of fixed points of the vector field inside the considered region. Such points indicate the accumulation of stress in rocks in a given area, which can further lead to rupture – an earthquake.

Abstract:
Although the primary cause of hypernasality is impaired velopharyngeal (VP) function, a variety of other factors influence the outcome perceived by the listener. The purpose of the current study was to assess the relationship between oral-nasal resonance balance and (1) velopharyngeal orifice area; (2) nasal airflow rate; and (3) duration of nasal airflow. The pressure-flow technique was used to estimate VP area and measure nasal airflow rate and duration. Ratings of oral-nasal balance were made on a 6-point equal-appearing interval scale. Results Indicated a moderate correlation between hypernasality rating and VP area (0.66), nasal airflow (0.61), and nasal airflow duration (0.53). Adults tended to be perceived as more hypernasal than children for a given degree of VP impairment. Finally, when the degree of VP opening was small, perceived oral-nasal resonance balance appeared to be related to duration of the opening-closing movements.

Abstract:
A growing need for the evaluation of prospects and sustainability of forest resources calls for the availability of harmonized data on forest distribution. We described and evaluated nine datasets providing such information: Corine LandCover, four European forest maps and four tree species distribution maps. Apart from providing a condensed overview of these datasets, we focused on the match between selected forest maps and forest management plans (FMPs) of Slovakia, which can be thought of as highly accurate information on forest distribution. The degree of match between forest and species area, within 306 forest administrative districts of Slovakia, was used as an indicator of accuracy. In addition, the match between the total forest and species area in Slovakia, given by FMPs and by evaluated datasets, was addressed. We found a high degree of match for the datasets on forest distribution (R-square 0.77–0.93, depending on the dataset), as well as strong agreement in total forest area (± 5%). Both indicators are worse in the case of forest type evaluation (coniferous and broadleaved). Poor results were obtained for tree species maps, which under- or overestimated species areas by tens of per cent, although differences were highly variable among species. The obtained results are valid mainly for temperate forests.

Rather than tiling the black hole horizon by Planck area patches, we suggest that bits of information inhabit, universally and holographically, the entire black core interior, a bit per a light sheet unit interval of order Planck area difference. The number of distinguishable (tagged by a binary code) configurations, counted within the context of a discrete holographic shell model, is given by the Catalan series. The area entropy formula is recovered, including Cardy's universal logarithmic correction, and the equipartition of mass per degree of freedom is proven. The black hole information storage resembles, in the count procedure, the so-called stack data structure.

Abstract:
The water retention capacity of a landscape, usually measured for a catchment basin, is a very important and decisive characteristic to identify the runoff amount from the catchment area and, in consequence, for antierosion and flood protection measures. Besides, creating water reserves in the landscape and keeping the water in them is also rather important.Soil humidity contributes to the calculation of potential water retention through modelling the runoff amount and peak discharge from the catchment basin within an area not larger than 5–10 km2. This method is based on curve number values (CN), which are tabulated according to hydrological characteristics of soils, land use, vegetation cover, tillage, antierosion measures and soil humidity, estimated as a 5-day sum of preceding precipitation values. This estimation is known as the antecedent precipitation index and it is divided into 3 degrees – I, II, III. Degree I indicates dry soil but still moist enough to till, whereas degree III means that the soil is oversaturated by water from preceding rainfall. Degree II is commonly used in this context as the antecedent precipitation index. The aim of this paper is to obtain real antecedent precipitation index values in given climatological stations (Brno, Dačice, Holešov, Náměšť nad Oslavou, Strážnice, Telč – Kostelní Myslová, Velké Meziříčí, Znojmo – Kuchařovice) for the period of years 1961 – 2009. Daily precipitation sums higher than 30 mm were considered to be the best candidate for such precipitation value since this occurs approximately once a year in studied areas. The occurence of these sums was also analysed for each month within the growing season (April to October). The analysed data was tabulated by climatological stations in order to check the real occurence of all antecedent precipitation index degrees within the studied period. Finally, the effects of different antecedent precipitation index values on the potential water retention capacity of the sample catchment basin were calculated to compare the results.

Abstract:
Landslide issues in Malaysia is successfully attract the interest and attention of stakeholders and the community of scientists to reduce the risk. Landslides are influenced by many factors that range from the intensity, duration and extent of a triggering factor (e.g. earthquake and rainfall) to the local physical conditions such as landform, morphological, geological materials and structures, hydrological and land uses. In this paper, we present the results of the Landslide Vulnerability Assessment (LVAs). Vulnerability is defined as the degree of losses of a given element at risk of being exposed to the occurrence of a landslides of a given magnitude or intensity, and often expressed on a scale of 0 (no loss) to 1 (total loss). The selection of the best LVAs depends on the exposed elements, landslide types and the scale of analysis. The concept of LVAs also refers to the feasibility of elements at risks on engineering structures, infrastructure facilities, communication systems, commercial (including insurance disclosures) and social. The vulnerability parameters include in assessing LVAs in this study are 1) physical implication (building structures, internal materials, property damage, infrastructural facilities and stabilization actions), social status (injury, fatalities, safety, loss of accommodation and public awareness) and interference on environment (affected period, daily operation & diversity). LVAs for study area produced by combining or overlaid of all Physical Vulnerability (Vp), Social Vulnerability (Vs) and Environmental Vulnerability (Ve) maps. The results for the Total of LVAs indicates that 30% (0.90 sq.m) of the study area classified as Very Low, 8% (0.24 sq.m) as Low, 8% (0.24 sq.m) as Moderate, 28% (0.84 sq.m) as High, 8% (0.24 sq.m) as Very High and 18% (0.54 sq.m) as Extremely High. Landslide Vulnerability level at a “high” to “very high” degree can leave an impact on individuals and society. This study found that residential, commercial, public and industrial infrastructure has higher vulnerability rather than the agricultural and forestry areas. This LVAs approach is suitable as a guideline for preliminary development planning, control and manage the landslide hazard / risk in the study area and potentially to be extended with different background environments.

Abstract:
This study analyzed the potential of landslides induced by the interaction between rainfall and earthquakes. Dapu Township and Alishan Township in Chiayi County, southern Taiwan, were included as study areas. From satellite images and the literature, we collected data for multiple years and time series and then used the random forest data mining algorithm for satellite image interpretation. A hazard index for the interaction between earthquakes and rainfall (IHERI) was proposed, and an index for the degree of land disturbance (IDLD) was estimated to explore the characteristics of IHERI under specific natural environmental and slope land use conditions. The results revealed that among the investigated disaster-causing factors, the degree of slope land use disturbance, the slope of the natural environment, and rainfall exerted the strongest effect on landslide occurrence. When IHERI or IDLD was higher, the probability of a landslide also increased, and under conditions of a similar IDLD, the probability of landslides increased as the IHERI value increased, and vice versa. Thus, given the interaction between rainfall and earthquakes in the study area, the effect of the degree of slope land use disturbance on landslides should not be ignored. The results of a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis indicated that the areas under the ROC curve for landslides induced by different trigger factors were all above 0.94. The results indicate that the area in which medium–high-level landslides are induced by an interaction between rainfall and earthquakes is large.

Abstract:
Abstract Well-developed surface areas and porous structures that render high adsorption capacity are necessary for pollutant removal from wastewater by activated carbons. Activated carbons from natural resources, and agricultural and industrial waste materials are produced using chemical agents, including KOH, H3PO4, K2CO3, ZnCl2 and NaOH. This study is intended to highlight the effects of those agents on the physical properties of the activated carbons. The operating conditions, i.e., temperature, time and ratio, show an interplay towards the physical properties at varying degree. The yield, pore size, mesoporosity and surface area of activated carbons derived using different chemical agents correlate well with the impregnation ratio. Generally, the pore size, mesoporosity and surface area increase, while the yield decreases with increasing ratio (over a given range). Higher ratio and temperature are recommended for KOH, K2CO3 and NaOH activation, to endow activated carbons with greater surface area.

Abstract:
City parks are suitable sites for the construction of emergency medical facilities. A comparison of various types of city parks revealed that country parks fit closely with site selection conditions for emergency medical facilities. Based on the latter site selection requirements, eight impact factors such as park type, effective avoidance area, spatial fragmentation degree, water source protection area, wind direction, distance from city center, impermeability, and transport duration were quantified, and then 29 country parks in the Hangzhou Urban Area were compared using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The calculation results showed that Linglong Country Park has the highest score, taking into account the characteristics of safety, scalability, rehabilitation, convenience, pollution prevention, and isolation. Linglong can be given priority selection as a target location for emergency medical facilities. In addition, Silver Lake Country Park, Dongqiao Country Park, Taihuyuan Country Park, and Tuankou Country Park have higher scores and can be used as alternative targets for emergency plans. The scoring results prove that the evaluation method has a high degree of rigor, a significant degree of discrimination, and a high degree of consistency between the validity and weight assignment of each impact factor. In view of the different geographical conditions in each region, the weight assignment of each impact factor can be adjusted according to local conditions and can help make effective use of existing conditions and avoid disadvantages.

Abstract:
Following the Court of Appeal case of R v Edwards in England and Wales, there has been increasing pressure for expert psychiatric witnesses to comment explicitly on how a defendant’s mental disorder affects their culpability. Culpability is the degree to which a person can be held morally or legally responsible for their conduct, but defining culpability has proved difficult. Mental disorder does not translate easily into degrees of legal culpability. Although psychiatric evidence will often be central to such cases, the determination of culpability is a matter for the court, and experts should not comment on it explicitly. Nevertheless, certain areas of psychiatry may have a bearing on culpability, and ways in which experts may comment on these are suggested. Given the pressure on judges to determine culpability, experts need to be honest about the limits of medical science to answer legal questions and the professional necessity to remain within their area of expertise.

Abstract:
Slaking red-bed soft rocks are widely distributed in the south of Anhui Province, China, and several highways will go through this area. It is important to evaluate their physical and mechanical characteristics for the purpose of using this kind of soft rocks as materials for road construction. In this paper, the compacting tests, the resilient modulus tests, the California bearing ratio (CBR) tests, and permeability tests have been carried out on crushed red-bed soft rock mixtures. The test results showed that, for a given degree of compaction, the resilient modulus decreases linearly with the increase of moisture content. For a given moisture content, the resilient modulus and CBR values increase linearly with the increase of compaction degree, while the soaking swelling, water absorption capacity, and permeability coefficient decrease linearly. In other words, the strength and water stability are enhanced with the increase of the degree of compaction. The results demonstrate that the crushed red-bed soft rock mixtures can be directly used as materials for the highway construction by taking corresponding measures.

Abstract:
Landslides represent a serious geo-hazard in many areas of the world. They are one of the most damaging and most significant geo-hazards in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the previous research, three GIS-based methodologies (Index based method, Statistical index method, and Landslide susceptibility analysis), have been used to assess the landslide susceptibility in urban area of the Municipality of Banja Luka. Validation technique is performed by comparing existing landslide data from 2012 with obtained landslide susceptibility maps. In this research, the landslide susceptibility maps were supplemented by landslide susceptibility map which is prepared using a GIS Matrix method. The area and percentage distribution of the susceptibility classes in the study area were determined as a result of the four different techniques. The Statistical index method has provided the most satisfying results. As a consequence of heavy rains during the period from May to August 2014, 126 landslides occurred in the study area, and they offer a good opportunity to validate obtained landslide susceptibility maps of the study area with landslides that occurred in different periods of time. Validation was performed by using a ?degree of fit? method. The values of the degree of fit in high and very high category in all used methods are over 80%, except for GIS matrix method, where the percentage is 60%. The validation of obtained landslide susceptibility maps suggests that the applications of all the used techniques provide a good basis for creation landslide susceptibility maps, but the best results are given by using a Statistical index method.

Abstract:
Varying the degree of single-whisker stimulation differentially affects phases of intrinsic signals in rat barrel cortex. . Neurophysiol. 81: 692–701, 1999. Using intrinsic signal optical imaging (ISI), we have shown previously that the point spread of evoked activity in the rat barrel cortex in response to single-whisker stimulation encompasses a surprisingly large area. Given that our typical stimulation consists of five deflections at 5 Hz, the large area of evoked activity might have resulted from repetitive stimulation. Thus in the present study, we use ISI through the thinned skull to determine whether decreasing the degree of single-whisker stimulation decreases the area of the cortical point spread. We additionally outline a protocol to quantify stimulus-related differences in the temporal characteristics of intrinsic signals at a fine spatial scale. In 10 adult rats, whisker C2 was stimulated randomly with either one or five deflections delivered in a rostral-to-caudal fashion. Each deflection consisted of a 0.5-mm displacement of the whisker as measured at the point of contact, 15 mm from the snout. The number of whisker deflections did not affect the area or peak magnitude of the cortical point spread based on the intrinsic signal activity occurring from 0.5 up to 1.5 s poststimulus onset. In contrast, the magnitude and time course of intrinsic signal activity collected after 1.5-s poststimulus onset did reflect the difference in the degree of stimulation. Thus decreasing the degree of stimulation differentially affected the early and late phases of the evoked intrinsic signal response. The implications of the present results are discussed in respect to probable differences in the signal source underlying the early versus later phases of evoked intrinsic signals.

Abstract:
Lidar point cloud filtering is the process of separating ground points from non-ground points and is a particularly important part of point cloud data processing. Forest filtering has always been a difficult topic in point cloud filtering research. Given that vegetation cannot be completely summarized according to the structure of ground objects, and given the diversity and complexity of the terrain in woodland areas, filtering in the forest area is a particularly difficult task. However, only few studies have tested the application of the point cloud filtering method for forest areas, the parameter setting of filtering methods is highly complex, and their terrain adaptability is weak. This paper proposes a new filtering method for forest areas that effectively combines iterative minima with machine learning, thereby greatly reducing the degree of manual participation. Through filtering tests on three types of woodlands, the filtering results were evaluated based on the filtering error definition proposed by ISPRS and were compared with the filtering results of other classical methods. Experimental results highlight the advantages of the proposed method, including its high accuracy, strong terrain universality, and limited number of parameters.

A plausible physical reason is given for the entropy-area proportionality that was discussed recently by Srednicki. Such a proportionality is not a general feature when the degrees of freedom within a certain volume are traced out of a pure state.

Abstract:
Considering the various influencing factors of enrichment of coal bed methane, the evaluation indexes of enrichment for coal bed methane are determined. The weight values of all factors indexes are given and the fuzzy mathematics model is established on the basis of the fuzzy mathematics. As a case study, the fuzzy mathematics model is applied to the assessment of enrichment of coal bed methane. The results show that the No.5 coal seam of Shan 2 of Shanxi formation in Daning-Jixian is a better enrichment area. The evaluation result performed on the basis of the fuzzy mathematics model is in good agreement with the measured result. The example indicates that the method is credible and has high precise. The assessment system established in the paper can be regarded as a reference model in coal bed methane exploitation potential assessment.
