Abstract:
Pragmatic transfer is currently the subject of research by many researchers. Sociopragmatic and linguistic pragmatic factors were discovered as aspects influencing practical transfers. The aim of this study is to examine the aspects that drive the development of pragmatic transfer. This study used the discourse completion test. This required interviewing 33 of his English students and 33 of her Arabic students. This research shows that there is a psychoparagmatic dimension to how foreign language learners use and influence the language they are learning in interacting with others. By observing the psychology of the languages ​​spoken by Arabic and English students in UIN Alauddin Makassar, the mental-practical aspects that were the focus of the researcher's analysis of this study were found to be social-practical. It had the same effect as the physical aspect.

The transformation of institutions from STAIN to IAIN and UIN gave birth to new problems in the scientific aspects of graduates who are sometimes ready for religious studies but weak in general science or vice versa. Arabic in the Ma'had Al-jamiah environment is a necessity because it is a tool to be used as a communication tool, so it is necessary to form biah lughoh arabiah. The purpose of this study is to determine the application of biah lughoh rabiah at Ma'had Al-jamiah IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This is a qualitative descriptive study which is carried out to produce qualitative data related to the implementation of biah lughoh Arabic.at Ma'had Al-jamiah IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The research data collection method is carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research is by using data triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of biah lughoh arabiah at IAIN Padangsidimpuan is carried out in an integrated manner between Ma'had Al-jamiah and the Language Development Center, where formal learning is carried out by the Language Development Center which includes all aspects of language both elements and maharoh and Ma' had Al-jamiah focused on mufrodat and kalam as daily communication needs (mumarotsah), then from the five types of Arabic environment, environment of vision (Al-Biah al-marwiyah), Auditory and visual environment (Al-biah As-syam iyyah and Al-marwiyah), social environment or teaching and learning interactions using Arabic, academic environment, psychological environment. There are two types of environment that are not maximized, namely the vision environment and audio because they still have limitations on facilities. This study concludes that the implementation of biah lughoh at IAIN Padangsidimpuan is dominant in the social, academic and psychological environment and adheres to an integrative system.

ABSTRAKDialect, according to many Arabic linguists, refers to language and letters used by a particular community that cause differences in the pronunciation even in the way particular letters are used among different societies.Dialect is variation in language depending on the users, that is the language as it is commonly used by the language users. Dialect; therefore, is dependent upon who use the language and where the users of the language reside. Abstract:
This study aims to explorehow the Ammiyah language came about in Egypt in the 20th century. It adopted an observational research design. To gather the data, the books and journals covering Orientalism were examined.The study details three of the findings. First, the Ammiyah language differs from the Arabic Fusha in terms of syntax, lexical and phonological characteristics. Second, Ammiyah has often been used in Egypt in familial and social communication. Third, the construction carried out by Orientalists in popularizing the Ammiyah language in order to shift the role of the Arabic Fusha as the language of state administration in Egypt through two aspects. The government orders the writing of books and newspapers in the Ammiyah language using Latin letters, and prohibits the teaching of Fusha language in the school and all activities. Although the Orientalist effort failed because of the opposition from Arab literary groups both Muslim and Christian Arabs, as well as the Al-Azhar and Majma 'Lughah Universities which protected the purity of the Arabic language, there was still a social impact on Egyptian society. The Egyptian society utilizes a number of Ammiyah languages in day-to-day contact.

Abstract:
This research is a case against of departement of Arabic education of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin to learn Arabic. The data source of this research is the student of 2012/2013, 2013/2014, and six lecturers that administer of linguistic subject or language skills. This study aims to collect information on students learning Arabic strategies in departement of Arabic education. While the data extracted is information about: the form of difficulty students learning Arabic, the cause and degree of difficulty, the type of student learning in departement of arabic education, the efforts and strategies by departement of arabic education students in problem solving learning Arabic, and the outcome of the efforts/strategies they are doing. Based on the survey results revealed that students have difficulty in learning Arabic in the matter of language and language skills. Difficulties in linguistic materials include use nahwu and sharf in reading and writing, the meaning of a sentence or a word, sentence or word and pronunciation. While the difficulties in aspects of language skills include: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. But the difficulties they feel it, both aspects of alkalinity or their skills can be overcome by evaluating their learning, the dominant use of memory strategies, affective, cognitive, and social strategies.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to provide insight into the characteristics of the Amiyah Egyptian language from a sociolinguistic point of view. This research was conducted by examining a variety of literature relating to the object of study and also the deepening of the material regarding sociolinguistics itself. The research method used is note taking, which takes data from YouTube consisting of 10 video objects whose results are presented in descriptive form. The procedures of the research are as 1) listening to every phrase which is spoken by the speaker, 2) writing the vocabulary that has phonological differences with Arabic Fusha, 3) classifying data according to sound change prepositions, 4) analyzing data related to phonological and morphological aspects, 5) doing further analysis related to the sociolinguistic point of view, 6) presents the results of the study. The results of this study, Amiyah Arabic is not included as a language but as a dialect that emerges from a basic language, namely Fusha Arabic. However, amiyah language has different phonological and morphological aspects that have become characteristic of being another language. This was explained by the social conditions of the Egyptian community who held that the language variations formed were higher social classes than the existing basic language namely fusha language.

Abstract:
Vocabulary size is a number or a quantity of vocabulary owned by an individual who speaks a language. It is undeniable that the vocabulary size has close relationship with the usage of a language. Nation (2001) & Laufer (1989) recommended that language students to master at least 2000 to 3000 words. This study is to identify the Arabic language vocabulary size between two aspects, receptive and productive. Research samples for this study consists of 127 undergraduates of Arabic Language for Professional Communication Course in UiTM varying from first semester students up until fifth semester students. Few instruments such as Arabic Language Vocabulary Level Test (aLVT) and Productive Vocabulary Level Test (PVLT) are used. The data are analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences V20.0 (SPSS) In average, the findings of this research has concluded that the receptive vocabulary size of Arabic Language is below the recommended level which is 1885 words whereas for productive vocabulary size is only 1655 words. Hence, this research proposed that students on tertiary level especially should focus more on relevant and high frequency vocabulary to be mastered in order to apply them more effectively. Therefore, teaching personnel should expose students to various techniques in learning vocabulary as well as maximising the use of computers and the Internet during teaching and learning sessions in order to gain students’ interest in learning.

The use of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Saudi Arabia does not appear to continue in the coming years on account of its strong commitment towards the 2030 vision that aims to reformulate and restructure the foundations of the social and economic fabric of the Saudi society. The Arabic language holds its significance in the society due to being a religious language. The current review has analyzed the paradigm shifts from EFL to ESL in higher education in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and predicted the future of English in Saudi Arabia. The major challenge that policymakers may encounter would be how to localize education of English language to meet the Saudi norms and standards of learning while at the same time modernize and internationalize the higher education through western theoretical knowledge and the English language. Suggestions regarding these aspects may direct individuals involved in language planning in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract:
The Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) language strongly indicates the sociolinguistic phenomenon as it reflects gender marking in language use. This study aims to explore how the Arabic letters attributed to specific gender identities, how the gender ideology of Arab culture create gender biases, and how the biases influence Arab social structure. It uses aspects of masculinity and femininity of Arabic letters that affect gender inequality and order of values on language, tradition and culture. Masculine letters are letters that have the property of being able to hold and entail other letters, while feminine letters that have the nature can be attached with other letters but cannot be attached. In this study, Arabic letters were mapped by observing their use in written and oral interaction in the contexts of Arab as first and second language. This research is a qualitative in nature. The data on ideology's influence on social structure were collected through interviews with three key informants representing their areas of expertise on language anthropology, sociolinguistic, and applied linguistic. The morphological analysis was carried out to identify the internal structure of the words. The sociolinguistic analysis explored the linguistic construction that to social construction. The finding showed that their internal structures, these letters were classified as masculine or feminine. From the sociolinguistic point of view, gender issues following social construction that has already formed gender relations. In other words, Arabic letters affect the order of values that tend to be gender-biased in the Arabic context.

Abstract:
This study discusses the semantic change of Arabic nouns in the Al-Qur'an: the form, process, and social impact. The theory used in this research is socio-semantic, which is a combination of sociology and semantics. When the absorption form is analyzed, a comparison of the original form with the absorption form is used. In this research, some Arabic nouns in Al-Qur'an that have semantic change are found, such as isim ma'rifah, nākirah, mudzakkar, muannats, masdār, mufrād, mutsanna ,jama’ etc. Semantic change occurs due to the linguistic factors surrounding them, including phonetic, syntactic and morphological; or non-linguist factors including the history of language, aspects of social culture, aspects of science and technology, aspects of foreign languages, aspects of differences in the usage, and aspects of psychological. The change of its meaning has a positive impact on people's mindsets and understanding of the study of Al-Qur'an in a comprehensive and integrated way. Then, every word is not only understood by its literal meaning, but also its multi-meaning.

This study employed qualitative descriptive research. The data were collected through observation and document analysis. The results of this study indicate that in terms of preparing the textbooks, one must consider such aspects as; the cultural, social, psychological, linguistic, and educational aspects. Moreover, even though it has some disadvantages, it does not diminish the quality of the book used in which it is evidenced on how popular method is implemented.

<p>In general, Arabic is the official language of the Arab states. However, at the beginning of its contact with non-Arab societies, this language—that is always associated as the language of Islam—was not easily accepted by non-Muslims. One of them is Coptic community, the native of Egyptian people who are Christians and speak Coptic language. The spread of the Arabic language was a serious challenge for them both from the issue of social identity, culture, and religion. This paper attempts to elaborate the reactions and efforts made by the Coptic community on the influence of the Arabic language to their lives. In detail, the paper tries to answer research questions as follow: 1) Howwas the social and political background of Coptic community before and after the coming of Islam in Egypt? 2) How was the Islamization and Arabization process in Egypt? Did the process run concurrently or two things different from its periode? What is the influence of the Arabic language on socio cultural and religious aspects of the Coptic community? To arrive at these objectives, the author used descriptive analysis methods by reviewing previous studies related to the subject and combining it with current information. The results showed that: 1) from the socio-cultural side, Arabic has become Coptic identity that can be seen from their Arabic names and their integration as part of both in ritual and religious literature.<strong></strong></p>

Abstract:
The aim of our current research is to analyze the socio – linguistic aspects such as (age, gender, place, time, race, proper names, food names, moral and educational values) in the translation of Dominiga's novel by the Spanish writer Gonthaloa Torrenta Payster (1999). The translator's way of conveying those values to readers of young ages and youth. In this analysis, we have relied on the classification of the humanities and English translation, Andrew Chesterman. This classification includes sixteen variables, and each of these variables has a default value that has been classified into 4 groups which are (balance variables, language variables, translator variables and finally structural frame variables for the translated text). We raise several questions, including: - What are the considerations that the translator should take into account when translating for children and youth? - What knowledge and sciences must a translator possess in order to convey the main idea of the original text to readers of young ages and youth? - Is it possible for anyone with sufficient linguistic knowledge to translate a work directed at children and youth, or does he need to be familiar with the psychological, mental and social aspects of this category of readers? Each society has its own customs, traditions, ideas and beliefs that distinguish it from other societies. Here , the translating must take into account these aspects when translating any literary work from one language to another , especially if this work is intended for children , adolescents and youth , due to the importance and danger of these age stages and their impact on the formation of the personality of the child and young person , and directing it towards the right direction and avoiding all stories and novels that carry ideas that contradict the concepts and beliefs of the society in which the young reader lives . Therefore, the researcher wants to present through this research information, observations, analysis and strategies that the translator used when translating these aspects, and whether he used the correct method in translation or not.

Background: Nowadays, with the appearance of web 2.0, more users express their opinions, judgments, and thoughts towards certain objects, services, organizations, and their attributes via social networking, forum entries, websites, and blogs and so on. In this way, the volume of raw content generated by these users will increase rapidly with enormous size, where people often find difficulties in identifying and summarizing fine-grained sentiments buried in the opinion-rich resources. The traditional opinion mining techniques, which focused on the overall sentiment of the review, fails to uncover the sentiments expressed on the aspects of the reviewed entity. For that, researchers in Aspect-based opinion mining community try to solve and handle this problem. Objective: Our proposed study aims to present, survey and compare in the first place the important recent Aspect-based opinion mining approaches relevant to important languages such English, Arabic and Chinese and commonly datasets used in literature so that future researchers could improve their results. The cited approaches used the last techniques in the area on Opinion mining field, relevant to the Deep Learning models. In the second place, we try to highlight and give special attention to the Arabic language by introducing a dashboard of deep learning methods dedicated to the Arabic language. Finally, we emphasize the research gaps and future challenges in both English and Arabic languages that provide some new potential research fields. Methods: We have carefully summarized 48 models according to their algorithm into three categories: supervised, semi-supervised and unsupervised. Due to a large number of approaches with diverse datasets and techniques, we propose some statistical graphics to compare different experimentation results namely precision, Recall, and F-measure. Also, the study has conferred a comparative analysis and a comprehensive discussion of different approaches and techniques dedicated to the aspect extraction sub-task using the new tendency that of deep learning on both Arabic, English and Chinese language. We have introduced some future challenges, research gaps, and new trends in the opinion mining task, which need more efforts and investigations to present new solutions that make the opinion mining field more pervasive and give more ideas about the different researches done in the field of OM. Methods: We have compared the different approaches and techniques dedicated to the extraction of aspects using the new tendency that of deep learning. Our contribution illustrates the add values given by deep learning models in the treatment of user reviews expressed in the Arabic language. At the same time, this work is mainly based on the use of the evaluation performance metrics (precision, recall, and f-measure).

Code switching (CS) is a common phenomenon in language contact situations wherein bilinguals utilize two languages in the same context. This study investigated the occurrence of intra-sentential code switching by 12 bilingual Saudi females on twitter who differed in age and education. The data were collected by taking screenshot for 1260 tweets. Data were analysed statistically to show the phenomena of Arabic- English code switching. Moreover, a qualitative method was used for data analysis. Findings of the study showed that code-switching was observed clearly on twitter and that intra-sentential code-switching occurs frequently. It was also observed that at the level of particular syntactic categories in Arabic-English CS, nouns were the most often switched elements in the corpus. This study focused on nouns and verbs as examples of these syntactic categories of CS. English as inserted language was mostly used by participant, so the study focused on Arabic sentences in which English is the embedded language. Finally, it is found that the most inserted words in English were related to the internet and other social aspects.

Research objective is to providing an insight into the characteristics of Arabic language teaching materials in higher education in Indonesia. This research was conducted by examining a variety of literature relating to teaching materials and Arabic speaking skills. The research method applied survey, involving 97 students from the Arabic Language Education Study Program in several universities in Indonesia and structured interviews with lecturers who supported Arabic speaking skills. The procedure taken are 1) reading literature related to Arabic speaking teaching materials and teaching Arabic speaking skills, 2) observing the learning process of speaking skills at several Arabic Language Education Study Programs, 3) determining the type of survey, 4) determining the sample target, 5) preparing instruments for analyzing the needs of students, 6) preparing structured interview instruments for lecturers, 7) analyzing survey results, 8) translating survey result. The results of this study, teaching materials from Middle East has led to the emergence of gaps in achieving Arabic language skills for beginners, such as the lack of phonetic aspects being taught, monotonous forms of practice, directing students to memorize, and types of dialogue that are not in accordance with student culture in Indonesia. The Kingdom’s development process has facilitated significant improvements at all levels, which enhances the need for continuous review of the language policy to ensure that it is achieving its goals. The current study seeks to discuss Saudi language policy in general, with a specific focus on Arabic language decisions, by utilizing an integrated approach, consisting of questionnaire and interview with a sample of administrative leaders in the Kingdom. The study seeks to discuss the ideology underlying Saudi language policy, as well as views on its nature, effectiveness, impact and implementation challenges; it also proposes a framework to build a Saudi language policy aimed at preserving previous achievements and achieving future aspirations. The study demonstrates the existence of social, cultural and linguistic ideologies that support the policies related to the Arabic language, such as considering it as a basic component of the political entity, a major part of the national identity; it also identifies concern for Arabic in the linguistic landscape, along with its centrality in the educational system, and the keenness of linguistic purification. The results also showed the participants’ agreement on the clarity of the decisions on language, as well as its comprehensiveness, need for development, and the extent to which individuals and institutions exhibit a weak awareness of it. Also, it reveals the existence of some problems that prevent its implementation, which are related to the decisions themselves, the procedural processes, or the administrative institutions. The study also provides suggested methodological recommendations to build the desired language policy, which proceeds from a research base and builds on current achievements.

This paper aims to reveal the mistakes of micro Arabic in the aspects of Ilm Saut (phonology), Sharaf (morphology), Nahw (Syntax), and 'Ilm Dalalah (Semantics) in preaching materials conveyed by ustadz and ustadzah included in the groups of "Ustadz Sunnah" and "Islam itu Indah". Arabic mistakes are often made by ustadz and ustadzah who often appear on social media. In general, an ustadz must have good Arabic language skills. The vast emergence of ustadz and ustadzah on social media is allegedly not accompanied by their qualified mastery of the primary language used in Islamic teaching sources and primary books, namely Arabic. Hence, the researchers used micro linguistic theories comprising the studies of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics therein. This study applied a descriptive-qualitative method. Researchers not only described the Arabic mistakes made by those of "Ustadz Sunnah” and "Islam itu Indah" but also provided corrections to such mistakes. In analyzing the data, the researchers used a separate analysis method. The findings demonstrated that those of "Ustaz Sunnah" and "Islam itu Indah” made mistakes in verbal Arabic at phonemic, morphemic, syntactic, and semantic levels.

This paper showed the social events that accompanied the birth of Islam had an impact and influence on the growth and development of the Arabic language. The social events during the early period of Islam were a great momentum for the revelation of the Qur'an, the entry of Islamic teachings into the Arab ignorant society. The establishment of social interaction relations between Arab and Islamic communities became a powerful event in forming the Arabic language. Thus, the early period of the birth of Islam was a time of transformation in standard Arabic. The events and social phenomena that occurred during the early period of Islam also had implications for the growth process of knowledge originating from Islam. The Arab community had made standard Arabic the primary language in delivering Islamic teachings and the development of science. This paper suggested the need for a further study of the development of the Arabic language viewed from the historical aspect.

From these problems the researcher wants to discuss research entitled "Muhadatsah learning through the dramatization method to improve students' ability to engage in dialogue using Arabic." The research method used by researchers in writing this thesis is an quasi experiment, this method which launches the design of a study, which aims to examine the relationship of cause and effect to the cause of the phenomenon. The mujtama 'in this study were students of class 1 Aliyah Modern Islamic Boarding School Babun Najah Ulee Kareng where students numbered 151 people, and the sample was class 1 MIA 4 students, amounting to 32 people, viewed from the learning aspects and the results of research has been done on that class is increasing. The Muhadatsah learning through the method of dramatization can improve students' ability in dialogue by using Arabic language because it can be seen through the value of to and it is clear that the value of 22.03% is higher than the percentage value of 5% = 2.04 and 1% 2.75. While the motivation of students in dialogue by using drama achieves excellent value categories.

Arabic is a diglossic language. Two variants of Arabic are widely used. H (the High variant) is Classical Arabic, now referred to as Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). The L (Low) variant is the colloquial dialects (DA), which are mostly spoken. The H variant is used in education, press, and other formal correspondence. The Low version is associated with informal contexts. Interestingly, the two versions are completely different from each other in terms of vocabulary, syntax, and even structure. Given the social and cognitive aspects of the language, children go to primary schools with almost no knowledge of MSA. Despite the prolific literature on the linguistic features of Arabic diglossia, very little has been done on the impact of diglossia on academic and educational achievement. In light of this argument, this paper seeks to investigate the teachers' perceived impact of diglossia on the language development and educational achievement of primary school students from a linguistic and anthropological perspective. Interviews were conducted with selected primary school teachers from the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia to elicit their opinions and perception on how diglossia should be tackled when students arrive in a classroom. The data collection tool was an interview comprising close and open-ended questions. The interview questions explored three areas: teachers’ perception of diglossia; perceived challenges that students faced with teaching and study material; and how teachers addressed these challenges. Findings indicate that diglossia poses serious sociolinguistic challenges to most young learners in Saudi schools. Both teachers and learners face difficulties in using only MSA in classrooms as the formal and official medium of instruction in Saudi schools. It is recommended thus the colloquial and vernacular dialects (L varieties) of Arabic should be integrated into the instruction mode to reflect the linguistic reality of the Arab countries.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine how tweeters drawn from three different languages and cultural boundaries manage the lack of contextual cues through an analysis of Arabic, English and Korean tweets. Design/methodology/approach Data for this study is drawn from a corpus of tweets (n = 1,200) streamed using Python through Twitter API. Using the language information, the authors limited the number of tweets to 400 randomly selected tweets from each language, totaling 1,200 tweets. Final coding taxonomy was derived through interactive processes preceded by literature and a preliminary analysis based on a small subset (n = 150) by isolating nonverbal communication devices and emoticons. Findings The results of the study present that there is great commonality across these tweets in terms of strategies and creativity in compensating for the constraints imposed by the tweet platform. The language-specific characteristics are also shown in the form of different usage of devices. Research limitations/implications Emoticon usage indicates that the communication mode influences online social interaction; the restriction of 140 maximum characters seems to engender a frequent usage of emoticons across tweets regardless of language differences. The results of the study bring forth implications into the design of social media technologies that reflect affective aspects of communication and language-/culture-specific traits and characteristics. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there are no qualitative studies examining paralinguistic nonverbal communication cues in the Twitter platform across language boundaries.

Recently, the critical relationship between ideology and discourse becomes one of the main issues discussed in a wide range of disciplines. Language ideology is described as a dynamic and inconsistent process that must be studied in its given context. This paper aimed to explore the sociolinguistic aspects of language ideology embedded in online interaction of Arabic speakers. The ideology of language purism was the focus of this study. Critical Discourse Analysis was employed as a theoretical framework to analyze the data. The study showed the dynamic nature of discourse and asserted interdiscursive indexing of linguistic purism ideology among Arabic speakers on Twitter. Three key ideological dimensions namely nationalism, modernity and humanity have been recognized from the data corpus. The data asserted considerable influence of people’s cultural ideologies related to Islamic and Arabic identities on their language use and attitude. Modernity was also indicated to be one of the central factors influencing speakers’ perception about their languages and language use. English was described as a global language to be used to fulfill various integrative, communicative, and affective functions in modern life. Speakers’ comments about normality and personality in language use asserted the role those ideological perceptions play in their attitudes towards language purism. The intertextual analysis of the discourse revealed several linguistic features of texts under study including reporting speech, voicing, and shifting. These features served various pragmatic and social functions in this context.

The study aims at investigating the frequency and willingness of undergraduate English majors to use English language in social media and informal context. It also aims at discovering frequently used expressions and exploring their functions. The study utilized a questionnaire developed by the researchers based on samples of students’ chats and posts collected from Facebook groups. The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 100 students majoring English in Al-Hussein bin Talal University to elicit aspects of their views on the use of some common types of English expressions transliterated into Arabic on social media platforms. The results of the study show that transliterated English expressions were widely and commonly used in students’ posts and comments to express different functions, often replacing Arabic alternatives, as English expressions were found to be more expressive. The study concluded with some implications highlighting the role of social media in improving and developing English competence and skills in this technological era.

Abū al-Fath Usmān Ibnu Jinnī, a prolific Arabic linguist with more than forty five works, has a significant role in Arabic linguistics development. He made some efforts to cool down the tension between the two main schools of nahwu Bashra and Kufa that competed to penetrate their influence upon Arabic linguistics theories. Ibnu Jinnī, who had Motazila theological background, tried to bring the Arabic linguistic thoughts out of this conflict and took its way from hegemony of these two schools. He stood up between the two schools theories by combining the philosophical (logical) and sociological approach in discussing issues of Arabic linguistics. This article tries to examine the theory, method and approach used by Ibnu Jinnī in dealing with the linguistics issues. The article finds that Ibnu Jinnī view is that language is not a mere rational entity, but it has social dimensions. Based on this theory, Ibnu Jinnī shifted the paradigm of the Arabic linguistic issues from nah} wu based theories debate to a broader discourse and more comprehensive theories covering internal or structural aspects such as phonology, morphology, syntax as well as external aspects, notably sociology.

Sentiment analysis is one of the most important fields of natural language processing due to its wide range of applications and the benefits associated with using it. It is defined as identifying the sentiment polarity of natural language text. Researchers have recently focused their attention on Arabic SA due to the massive amounts of user-generated content on social media and e-commerce websites in the Arabic world. Most of the research in this fieldwork is on the sentence and document levels. This study tackles the aspect-level sentiment analysis for the Arabic language, which is a less studied version of SA. Because Arabic NLP is challenging and there are few available Arabic resources and many Arabic dialects, limited studies have attempted to detect aspect-based sentiment analyses on Arabic texts. Specifically, this study considers two ABSA tasks: aspect term polarity and aspect category polarity, using the text normalization of the Arabic dialect after making the classification task. We present a Seq2Seq model for dialect normalization that can serve as a pre-processing step for the ABSA classification task by reducing the number of OOV words. Thus, the model’s accuracy increased. The results of the conducted experiments show that our models outperformed the existing models in the literature on both tasks and datasets.

Nowadays, the most used language is the colloquial language not the classical language. It is widely used in many nations. The kingdom of Bahrain had the largest share in the spread of the colloquial language, which becomes the trader&#39;s language and the language of the social communication too. It became so popular that its usage starts dominating the daily conversations. In this research, we will create algorithm to enhance the process of information retrieval in Arabic slang language of the Gulf. In this algorithm, we put some special Bahraini rules to convert queries from Slang Bahraini to a classical language. In addition, we will apply this algorithm on the Bahraini colloquial language. After making an evaluation for the system relying on the results of three main aspects recall, precision, and F-measure, we noticed that the results of precision about 0.64 for both researches slang and classical, which gives a great indication that the system supports searching in Bahraini slang language. The purpose of this research is to improve the Information Retrieval system field. In addition, it will save the time and the effort of the researchers of the Bahraini colloquial language.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan masyarakat menanggung dampak social, ekonomi, budaya dan kesehatan serta kependudukan. Kesempatan kerja informan menjadi nilai positif bagi masyarakat. Aspek budaya dimana makin merebaknya komunitas arab dan bahasa arab menjadi bahasa seharian sehingga mengancam budaya lokal. Aspek sosial masih adanya praktek kawin kontrak dengan wisatawan timur tengah. Dari aspek kependudukan terjadinya kelahiran anak yang orang tuanya beda kewarganegeraan dan perkawinan dan perceraian dianggap hal yang biasa terjadi. The presence of middle eastern tourists at the top of Bogor brings social, economic and population impacts on the local community. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of the population and the efforts / policies of the local government that have been carried out in the Puncak Bogor area today as more and more Middle Eastern tourists visit. The research method uses a qualitative approach by conducting in-depth interviews with selected informants. The results of this study indicate that the community bears social, economic, cultural and health impacts as well as population. Informant job opportunities become a positive value for the community. Cultural aspects which increasingly spread Arabic and Arabic language into a language all day that threatens local culture. Social aspects of the practice of contract marriages with middle east tourists. From the aspect of population the occurrence of the birth of children whose parents are different citizenship and marriage and divorce are considered normal.

Mobile technologies have been shown to be potential aids in improving language learning a long with computer technology, The purpose of this study was to examine students’ perceptions of their socio-affective learning practices when utilizing dictionary applications on their mobile phones. Twenty-five undergraduates were chosen at random from a group of 110 students to engage in five focus group discussions about their experiences using mobile dictionaries as learning tools in the West Bank and Palestine. The analysis of the data identified four main themes in the described experiences, each of which is related to specific socio affective aspects of learning and feelings of self-efficacy: feeling confident in their knowledge, independence in their learning, changing the pace of learning outside of the classroom, and overcoming obstacles like multiple meanings, Arabic accents, and technological distractions. The study’s proposals for adding more socio-technical pedagogies to English language instruction for Arabic learners are its conclusion.

The formulation are intended to find out the various forms of interference that are often used and to provide knowledge on how to pronounce the correct language.This research uses descriptive qualitative research with the method of collecting data through three types, interviews, observation, and documentation with using the miles analysis model.The results of this research concluded that the occurrence of phonological and morphological interference was categorized into three typesfirst, elemental interference,interference is which occurs because of the inclusion of the morphological elements of the Madurans language into Arabic-like morphology, affixesthe example of the word astaghfirullah becomes poralla and syaitan becomes satan and others. The term «infodemic» is nowadays used by the WHO to describe the excessive flows of inaccurate and unreliable data about the coronavirus both in the virtual and real worlds. This phenomenon is reflected in the social media posts containing the misleading information that involves fake news, rumours, nonchecked «facts», users’ thoughts, emotional reactions to different events, other online posts or messages. The previous researches include the creation of various Arabic Covid-19 misinformation datasets. However, a more in-depth analysis of the online discourse is needed due to the lack of its linguistic, sociolinguistic and communicative studies. This paper deals with the sociopragmatic aspect of the online communication in the Arab world during the Covid-19 pandemic. The communicants’ social features are presented within their Facebook and Twitter accounts. We manually collected nearly 100 online posts on Facebook and Twitter. We analysed the users’ communicative goals, and, especially, the linguistic tools utilized to achieve those goals, as well as the language variation caused by different communicative purposes of the «infodemic» posts. The key words of the data research are represented with the pandemic related lexemes of Twitter hashtags, such as kūrūnā «corona», liqāḥ «vaccine», dawāʼ «remedy», etc. We classified the studied publications according to the following topics: pharmaceutical companies’ profits; denial of the role of vaccination and the preventive measures; persuasion of the effective drugs existence; health tips. As speech acts, the studied posts involve such types as representatives (fake news, pseudofacts, etc.), directives (health advises), and expressives (attitudes, emotions, thoughts, etc.). On the other hand, the given texts are regarded as the acts of disagreement (explicit or implicit). The explicit means of negation is represented with the grammatical particles, meanwhile the implicit instruments include the lexis with the negative emotional expressivity or negative connotations. It was also noticed, that some male texts use the negative lexicon more frequently, than the female ones. The language variation reveals the relation between the post’s communicative purpose and the code choice (MSA is preferred for the representative posts (to demonstrate the credibility), ESA (Educated Spoken Arabic) is used in all types of «infodemic» posts, Colloquial Arabic as the language of everyday communication is mostly present in the expressives).

Not only does pesantren (a term used to refer to an Islamic boarding school) instill a religious spirit, but it also interprets Indonesia based on the spirit of nationalism. Therefore, it is not surprising if later pesantren is presented in an attempt to dedicate itself to the nation and the state of Indonesia besides in the interests of Islam definitely. In addition to education, educational institutions such as pesantren also have socio-cultural functions and duties. Thus, a significant spiritual movement needs to be created in order to strengthen empowerment intended to provide education holistically. Among the tool to facilitate instructional processes is the mastery of Arabic. This paper describes the practices of teaching and learning Arabic among Muslim minorities using the approach of the principles of modernity. This research was conducted in West Papua, which covered five regencies and one city. Findings of the research suggest that instruction in a number of pesantren in Mayamuk, Aimas, Waisai, Teminabuan, Kaimana, Waigom, and Misol, was carried out in a structured manner. In those seven locations, Islamic education which adopted a language skill-based instructional framework was carried out by employing a communicative approach among santri (i.e. a term used to refer to students who go to pesantren). The skill developed among santri was language expression without any special emphasis on the mastery of grammar. The environment of pesantren equipped with a boarding school for santri as a place to stay facilitated interactions among santri to practice their language skills. Their language skills were adjusted to the learning context and the accompanying environment. The existing social aspects were then used to facilitate the learning process. Finally, this research draws conclusions that differences in learning objectives which determine the aspects of the approach and methodology affect Arabic instruction.

AbstractThis article aims to highlight sociolinguistic aspects of an Arabic text from the sixth/twelfth century, its reception, and the commentaries on it. Soon after its publication, the linguistic treatise Durrat al-ghawwāṣ fī awhām al-khawāṣṣ by al-Ḥarīrī (d. 516/1122) became a model for discussing the subject of laḥn (solecism) in Arabic, and remained so throughout the following centuries. Rather than attributing this to fixed practices of premodern commentary culture, the article seeks to explain the scholars’ lively and nuanced engagement with Durrat al-ghawwāṣ by focusing on their identification with the social group of the khāṣṣa, which distinguishes itself through language mastery, and by connecting the interest in linguistic treatises to sociocultural developments in the Arab-Islamic realm during the Mamlūk and Ottoman periods.

Abstract Poetry in general and lyric poetry in particular are perhaps the most difficult types of texts to be rendered from one language into another without much change in meaning and structure. That is why folkloric songs could be considered as toilsome to be rendered, because they are often culture-bound. Moreover, they have a highly complicated sign structure which plays an important role in transmitting culture. It may be helpful and useful to investigate a number of difficulties in translating these rhymed texts which reflect certain aspects of culture (social, political and ecological, among others). Despite the dearth of references, the authors have succeeded in obtaining the necessary data of translating these folkloric songs. They aim to reach modest findings which could be beneficial to students of translation. In this paper, it may be useful to introduce some ideas about the nature of translation and translatability as well as literary translation with special reference to the semantic vs. communicative translation. It also aims to shed light on the translatability of some Jordanian folkloric songs. This study partly provides examples of the authors' translations from Arabic into English, which are only attempts of translating these literary texts. The translations are meant only for the aim of comparison or to support data. Some conclusions and recommendations about the translatability of folkloric songs are reached. Résumé La poésie en général et la poésie lyrique en particulier sont probablement les types de textes les plus difficiles à reproduire d'une langue dans une autre sans introduction de changement de signification ou de structure. C'est la rasion pour laquelle les chants folkloriques, généralement liés à la culture sont difficiles à traduire. De plus, la structure des signes est éminemment compliquée et joue un rôle important au niveau de la transmission de la teneur culturelle. Il peut donc être intéressant et utile d'analyser un certain nombre de difficultés qui surgissent lors de la traduction de ces textes rythmés qui reflètent certains aspects culturels (sociaux, politiques et écologiques, entres autres). En dépit du manque de références, les auteurs sont parvenus à obtenir les informations nécessaires à la traduction de ces chants folkloriques. Leur but est d'obtenir certains indications susceptibles d'être précieuses pour les étudiants en traduction. Dans le présent article, les auteurs ont estimé qu'il pouvait être utile d'introduire certains notions concernant la nature de la traduction et de la traductibilité mais aussi de la traduction littéraire, en particulier dans le domaine de l'opposition traduction sémantique — traduction communicative. Les auteurs souhaitent aussi aborder la traductibilité de certains chants folkloriques jordaniens, et ce à l'aide d'exemples de traductions arabe-anglais réalisées par les auteurs mais qui ne sont d'après ces derniers que des essais de traduction de ces textes littéraires. A new lingua franca, Urdubic, is emerging in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf. Its linguistic composition is defined by the reduced and simplified forms of Arabic and Urdu. The paper examines linguistic, social, and historical aspects of its sociolinguistic make-up. Recurrent patterns of mutual migration between Arabs and Indians have played a pivotal role in the development of this lingua franca. Today, it appears to permeate the very homes of the Arabs. The examples of linguistic features (combinations of Urdu and Arabic) of the pidgin mentioned in the current study show that Urban Arabic is accepting foreign influences. This influx of foreign languages has alarmed those Arabs who want to preserve the purity of Arabic. How long Urdubic is going to survive amid Arabs’ efforts to save Arabic from such foreign influences? The paper concludes with speculations about the future of Urdubic.

This study aims to analyze the signs associated with social issues in school spaces by using the Linguistic Landscape approach. Data were obtained from 10 public and private schools in Great Malang, Indonesia through photography. The study reports several findings, namely (1) Indonesian schools are monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual with the dominant use of Bahasa, English, Arabic and Javanese, (2) phrases and clauses dominate the appearance of data in linguistic aspects, compared to words. Therefore, they are very effective in mediating messages conveyed in signs, (3) it comprises of eight themes, namely environment, juvenile delinquency, health, discipline, motivation, attitude and behavior, religion, and nationalism, (4) there are 9 out of 18 values of character education, namely hard work, creative, discipline, national spirit, religious, honest, environmental care, reading hobby, and love for peace. In conclusion, Bahasa Indonesia is associated with the symbol of nationalism and language policy, where English, Arabic and Javanese symbolize modernization, Islam, and the local culture, respectively. Furthermore, the themes and values of character education that emerge represent the conditions of the problems faced by students. This finding suggest education through signs, evoke perceptions and attitudes which is used to strengthen character education in schools to solve social problems.

In this booming era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the issue of teachers willingness to use information technology in teaching Arabic is often debated. The emergence of new technologies, such as augmented reality technology applied in the education system, has had a positive effect on teaching. However, there is still a lack of research in the context of teaching a foreign language. Therefore, this study discusses the readiness of teachers from the aspect of their knowledge towards the use of augmented reality technology in teaching Arabic in primary schools. In addition, this study uses a quantitative study in the form of a survey method involving a total of 36 Arabic language teachers who were used as respondents in this study. The use of a set of questionnaires as a research instrument is the basis for data collection to identify their level of knowledge readiness. The data from this study were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science version 26 (SPSS). The results of the study show that the level of readiness of teachers from the aspect of knowledge towards the use of augmented reality technology in the teaching of Arabic in Malaysia is at a moderate level. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will be used as a guide and benefit those responsible for ensuring that the process of teaching and learning Arabic based on augmented reality technology can be implemented in a meaningful way, thereby improving the performance of students in mastering the Arabic language.

This study aims to identify the verbal behavior characteristics of Islamic university students with the use of Facebook in order to determine the identity forms that become a representation of their language aspects. Qualitative method was applied to objectively describe the social practices, and the varying issues and objectives of linguistic features that are generated and interpreted in these discourses. The data was procured, by using content analysis and observation, from the discourses of students at State Islamic University Imam Bonjol in the form of Facebook status posts and comments written in Facebook groups. The analysis was conducted following Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis with a Critical Linguistics Approach. The results showed that the language features of the students contain some characteristics that appear in the form of abbreviations or acronyms, and the insertion of elements of foreign languages mostly dominated by features of Arabic. It was also found that the status and comments of the students focused on five dominant issues: religious, university, personal, social and cultural, and national issues. It was concluded that situational, institutional, and cultural contexts influenced the students’ production of particular discourse on Facebook. Features, issues, and discourse context identified through language used by the students had become one of many ways to recognize an Islamic university student. This ability to identify a particular student is due to the language used as a medium of communication to provide space for students to create, and directly or indirectly provide extensive information about the identity of the speakers.

Wacana metafora bahasa Arab yang telah melalui tempoh masa yang panjang telah menyebabkan terhasilnya pelbagai kajian dan penerbitan buku dilakukan oleh para sarjana Arab dan bukan Arab. Namun kebanyakan kajian tersebut hanya memfokuskan kepada aspek retorika bahasa Arab dalam membantu masyarakat Arab dan bukan Arab mengkaji ilmu-ilmu Islam dan amat kurang kajian yang dijalankan dalam wacana metafora bahasa Melayu dan perbandingannya dengan wacana metafora bahasa Arab. Kajian ini membincangkan analisa wacana metapora kontrastif dalam bahasa Arab dan bahasa Melayu dari aspek pengkelasan dan praktis sosial yang tersirat di sebalik penggunaannya dalam kedua-dua bahasa ini. Perspektif praktis sosial adalah salah satu komponen kerangka teoritis Analisis Wacana Kritis yang digunakan dalam kajian ini. Dapatan kajian menjelaskan kepentingan mengetahui dan memahami pengkelasan wacana metafora bahasa Arab dan bahasa Melayu. Seterusnya dapatan kajian ini juga menegaskan bahawa perlunya usaha menyingkap dan membuat perbandingan pengkelasan wacana metapora dalam bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Arab. Ini akan memudahkan pelajar Melayu memahami secara lebih mendalam penggunaan aspek bahasa ini dalam amalan dan praktis sosial intra bahasa khususnya dari perspektif bentuk praktis sosial yang tersirat di sebalik wacana metafora kedua-dua bahasa ini.The study of metaphorical discourse in Arabic rhetoric has gone through a long period of time that witnessed enormous books and meticulous studies carried out by a large number of Arab and non-Arab scholars. Nevertheless, these rigorous studies that had enriched the study of Arabic rhetoric only served the study of Islam for Arab and non-Arab muslims. Less has been done on the study of Malay metaphorical discourse and the comparison between both. This paper mainly attempts to discuss a contrastive study of metaphorical discourse in Arabic and Malay rhetoric from the classification and social practices aspects that are implicitly found in the metaphorical discourses in both languages. The perspective of social practice, which is one of the components of Critical Discourse Analysis is aplied in this study. The finding of this study dictates the importance of knowing and understanding the classification of metaphorical discourses in Arabic as well as in Malay rhetoric. It further affirms that efforts are needed to unveil the contrastive metaphorical discourse between Arabic and Malay language, especially in terms of intra-social practices that are obviously embedded in metaphorical discourses in both languages. This in turn, will enhance the pursuit of knowledge among Malay students to undertand metaphorical discourse effectively.

<p class="acmabstract"><em><span>The main problem in this study, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has plagued Indonesia for more than a year, has caused various problems and impacted various aspects of life, especially in education. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, the government enforces distance learning, which also impacts learning Arabic and requires teachers to develop creativity in learning. Using a qualitative field research method, this study aims to determine the creativity of Arabic language teachers in utilizing information technology for distance learning during the covid-19 pandemic. As for some of the media used, such as. Create video content, take advantage of social media, use video conferencing applications such as Zoom and Google Meet, to take advantage of educational website services in the form of Google Classroom and Wordwall games. Based on the results of the analysis conducted by the researchers, this study proved that there are various kinds of teacher creativity in learning Arabic online, such as interactive multimedia, quizzes with google forms, word wall games, and so on. Second, eliminating student learning boredom by developing teacher creativity based on information technology. Third, it is still necessary to conduct information technology-based creativity development training, especially in learning Arabic, because not all Arabic language teachers can develop information technology-based teaching skills. This study proved that there are various kinds of teacher creativity in learning Arabic online, such as interactive multimedia, quizzes with google forms, word wall games.
