This thesis claims to make an evaluation of the communicative skills acquired in an unknown language by subjects placed in linguistic immersion, relating the aforementioned skills with the linguistic, cultural and procedural background of the subjects as well as the more usual parameters which condition the appropriation of foreign languages. Our study applies to a sample of some eighty university students who have recently moved to a region of Spain, Catalonia and belong, for the most part, to mobility programs. In this work we attempt to confirm any causal relationship between the degree of communicative skills acquired in an unknown language (Catalan in that case) and the various parameters which condition language learning: on the one hand, motivation, general attitude, language exposure and the type of learning; on the other, the linguistic profile of the subjects (which allows positive transfers), the way they use it and how they perceive it. As regards the traditional factors of appropriation of a foreign language, we claim to confirm the impact of a positive attitude, a high motivation, and sufficient time of exposure on the acquisition of communication skills in the target language. We postulate, following researchers in "didactics of plurilingualism", that the genetic and/or structural proximity between the language(s) of anyone’s linguistic repertoire and the unknown target language is very likely to favour the development of such communicative skills. Moreover we hope to contribute to the definition of plurilingualism since we attempt to validate experimentally some descriptions realized on the basis of various reference tools coming from the research on intercomprehension, such as the skills reference data on multilingual communication in intercomprehension, Costes’s categorizations or Meissner’s didactic principles. Besides, our research is based on objective as well as subjective data related to the degree of plurilingualism of each subject, such as their preliminary linguistic experiences; their own evaluation of their level of plurilingualism, or their view on the advantages and drawbacks of such characteristic. Finally, we are highly interested in the possible impact of a "diversified", "heterogeneous", "complex" profile on the capacities of appropriation of another linguistic system. We have worked mostly on declarative data, collected from on-line questionnaires inspired by the European Languages Portfolios (COE) and the accuracy of such data has been confirmed by a short hetero-evaluation of receptive skills achieved by a subgroup of our sample. The computer implementation of the models as well as of data processing procedures make it possible for the experiment and the analyses to be reproduced and applied to a sample of a bigger size or of another composition, on the basis of other models. The results point out an important and significant positive effect of the factor labelled “attitude towards languages and towards the unknown target language”. In the same way, the number of acquired / learnt languages and their typological genetic proximity to the target language have proved quite relevant. Yet, the effect of other kinds of structural transfers has not been evidenced.

Full textWith the latest reforms, among which the Hospital, Patient, Healthcare and Territory (HPST) Law, the French Hospital has changed not only the form of its organisation through the implementation of a polar organisation, but also its environmental concern. This polar organisation aims to strive for performance and efficiency via an managerial and medical approach. Thus, some management tools have been set up aimed in particular at giving feedback on such performance. In this context, how can professionals from such distinct fields as management and healthcare work? Management implies the optimization of resources when the public sector above all upholds values of social usefulness and patient care. Healthcare actors feel very much involved in this mission of social usefulness. In this work we propose to identify how cultural gaps within hospital poles contribute to a loss of meaning and acknowledgment among healthcare agents. Those cultural gaps will be examined more particularly through management tool appropriation. This study relies on interviews conducted in various healthcare facilities (PCO and psychiatric hospitals of various capacities such as CHU and CH). It reveals the need for innovative managerial practices, especially designed for intercultural management, so that every actor of these new hospital facilities may feel that they are understood and integrated in this dynamic process. The proposed study can make up interesting feedback to better understand and improve the use of these new management tools. Recommendations are issued that can be food for thought to meet the current challenges of public hospitals
Bossu, Adeline. "Système d'action agile et dispositif interculturel numérique : le cas du MOOC Pas à Pas du projet ECO." Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020BOR30027.
Full textThis research proposes to study, with a systemic approach, the organizational and relational dynamics of extended and mediated collectives in an intercultural digital distance learning system, the MOOC. It is based on a unique and unprecedented case, the MOOC PàP à Pas, of the European project ECO (24 heterogeneous partners from Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom) whose objective is to produce sMOOCs (social MOOC) and to train in the creation of digital educational resources. In an interdisciplinary perspective, this action-research attempts to provide elements for apprehending and interpreting the adaptations of the action system in the face of this complexity. It examines 1/ the influences of mediated interactions and organizational and relational choices, 2/ agile and intercultural management methods, and 3/ the levers of interoperability that promote these relational dynamics and the sustainability of the system. The results reveal new phenomena of structuring and integration of sense-making systems (agile interculturalism) with new forms of agreements (intercreative arrangements). They take into account the need for horizontality and integration of heterogeneous actors, who capitalize on the levers of digital interoperability that are openness, e-presence and mediation, as well as on the repertoire of commons. Agility, interculturality and interoperability are the necessary conditions for successful appropriation and transfer

Full textCarried by the coolie engaging migration to The Réunion Island (Wong-Hee-Kam, 1996), the Lion Dance is at the crossroads of the sacred art, the martial art (Wu Shu) and the performing art. This practice has for dual purpose the intergenerational mediation and the intercultural openness (Abdallah-Pretceille, 2020) : it is transformed from China along the migratory path under the impetus of the Grand Masters. The research question was on how sino-reunionese families took hold of this living intangible heritage in order to operate a cultural mediation in context. What links with China did they maintain for young people at The Reunion Island, and what forms of cultural expression were deployed in context at the crossroads of ancestral traditions and of societal change (Hobsbawm et Ranger, 2012)? A chronological timeline of The Reunion's Chinese engagist migratory movement was drawn up beforehand. The exploratory phase of the doctoral program elaborated the dance geolocation on the territory (N = 555, 8 years old); maps showed that the practice settings divided the Hakka/Namsun groups and were essentially linked with commercial activities, republican institutions and Chinese state representation, thus ensuring a strong cultural link between spirituality, sociality and power. By taking young people all over the Island, the Lion Dance put them together at festive occasions and created a youthful sociality motivated by the sharing of cultural practices. Study 1 focused on the life stories of the migratory and social trajectories (Delory-Momberger, 2019) of key figures in the community. It provided a better understanding of the living conditions, social integration and cultural mediation of migrant families. Then the heritage practice of the Lion dance, carried in the cultural baggage of the family's migratory journey, was questioned as an emblem of transmission. The Study 2 aimed on the migratory trajectory of the Lion dance though three indianoceanic cultural areas (Mauritius, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan) with reference to the original practice (China). A triple externalist/internalist crossover (master, researcher, practitioner) provided access to the epistemological and epistemic status of this patrimony. The participant observation study (14 months) collected the Grand Master's discourse in context (N=3 interviews; 180') and showed that the practice was reinterpreted in a deliberate way according to the cultural context of inclusion. Finally, the Study 3 proposed a projective test inviting the Grand Masters to analyze a competitive dance modality (crab choreography, T=9'). By interpreting the practice precisely according to the martial style to which they belong, the choreographic inspiration or the spectacularisation project, each Master attempted ‘to transmit the tradition and to make the art flourish’ in contexts. This process of patrimony creolization revealed an open conception of sharing the heritage object: by the questioning of their relationship with otherness, they reinvented the tradition, even if it meant to break codes by displacing them while innovating to perform. The Lion Dance is an emblem of the sino-reunionese identity by its intercultural and Creole dimensions. While promoting festive cultural sharing, it mediates knowledge and values while reinventing tradition for young people destined to open up to the world. Assuming the tension between ‘transmitting and/or innovating’, the dilemma of the Lion Grand Masters questions all forms of heritage transmission in a cultural context of social and community empowerment
Vaillant, Anaïs. ""La batucada des gringos" : Appropriations européennes de pratiques musicales brésiliennes." Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013AIXM3109.
Full textUsing the example of the batucada phenomenon in France and Europe, this thesis explores the processes of cultural appropriation of Brazilian musical models, in particular those of Rio's samba enredo, Bahia's samba-reggae and Recife's maracatu. The ethnographic fieldwork, conducted during the first decade of 2000, is composed of: numerous life stories and semi-structured interviews with French and Brazilian amateur percussionists and professional musicians, observations of musical practices in Europe and Brazil, and participating observations in the framework of artistic projects in the South of France. Rather than taking a historical approach of the diffusion of objects, this work analyzes the trajectories of the appropriations of batucada in France, from its emergence to its spread. Several fields of musical appropriation are broached: the instrumental form of the batucada, the Brazilian musical models, and the artistic positions taken regarding these models which reveal a common quest for a “popular”, lively and festive cultural practice. Idealized representations of Brazil, its music and its carnivals seem to respond to this quest. Travels to the musical sources in Brazil appear as an important step in the Europeans’ musical appropriation. Observation of these travels allows underscoring the social and cultural stakes of musical transmissions between Brazilians and foreigners. Lastly, the appropriation of batucada enables enlarging a general debate on cultural appropriation in a context of globalization

Full textThe present research lies in the field of the didactics of languages and cultures. It focuses on the integration of pictures in the teaching of French as a foreign language and it also aims at explaining both the benefits and disadvantages of their use in language courses. Based on the concept of pictures as visual supports, this research attempts to define the potential of applying a picture in language learning among learners. Our empirical study was conducted in a university in Paris with A1 and B2 learners. In this respect, data were collected by observing the interactions and oral and written productions of pluricultural students faced with pictures. Through the study of three successive corpora (questionnaires, observations, interviews), we drew up a status report on the presence of pictures in lessons, its contributions to the acquisition of L2 and we explained the approach of teachers towards these teaching materials. This allows us to focus on a few different elements that should be implemented to optimize the use of pictures in the teaching of languages and cultures. Research findings in this study indicated that learners engage communicative and appropriation strategies to express their reactions to the pictures and to participate in interactions. Analyses of these interactions around the visual material reflect favorable conditions for potential learning. A thorough review of our corpus shows an occultation of the intercultural dimension both in the proposed tasks and in the interactions generated by the pictures. These interactions are strongly influenced by teacher actions, which points out to the the need for training
