Full textThis thesis deals with the student labour market and the students' work experience from an analytical perspective combining the sociology of education, youth and work. The 1 st part sheds light on the social definitions of student work: the description of the transformations of higher education and of the labour market is followed by the analysis of how student work has been conceived historically, along a line opposing essentially those who denounce the precarious living conditions of the student population and those who celebrate its work experience. Historical hindsight reveals that the latter point of view is becoming increasingly dominant while higher education is getting under further market pressure. Ln the 2nd part, a secondary analysis of national statistics concerning student living conditions provides a first description of the space of student jobs which is then specified through ethnographic interviews. Three logics are distinguished, each corresponding to 3 ways of relating to the future -temporary, anticipatory and eternising investments in the work definition -and 3 ways of articulating jobs and studies -dissociating the two, adjusting one to the other or substituting one for the other. The 3rd part relies on ethnographic work (participant observation and interviews) in fast-food outlets, call centres and sociocultural animation and shows how the different fractions of working students tend to be well-adjusted to the demands of a labour market that is itself segmented along a cultural/economic line. This form of pre-established harmony is questioned when a quasi-permanent workforce is led, under some circumstances, to invest in collective mobilisations

Full textThis research aims to answer the following main question: What is the impact of foreign banks on the lebanese ones concerning the organizational learning? Specifically, is it possible to consider the recruitment of managers who were previously working in foreign banks as the source of organizational learning in lebanese banks and those with arab participation? If not, what are the origins of organizational change in those later? To analyze this problematic, we divide it into two groups: The first deals with the motivations of foreign banks to be implemented in Lebanon. It also determines their contribution to the development of lebanese banking sector. Therefore, we present the theoretical background which clarifies our comprehension of foreign direct banking and that of organizational change. This work is illustrated by both quantitative and qualitative approaches. In the second group, we apprehend the organizational learning in the lebanese banks and those with arab participation by identifying the changes they were concerned with between 1995 and 2004, then by evaluating if an organizational learning emerged inside them. We also ask ourselves what are the determinants and the types of this learning by confronting the literature and by testing the theoretical model elaborated from it. This study allows us to defend the following thesis: “Environment and foreign banks are at the origin of change in lebanese banks and those with arab participation, even if organizational learning doesn't necessarily result from the recruitment of managers who were working in foreign banks”

Full textSocial experimentation assumed in france by the disciples of fourier in the nineteenth century and stigmatized by positivists became an institutional from of action in 1848 when the state set up a council for the promotion of worker's entrepreneurial associations run by catholic democrate who were disciples of buchez. By describing the social elaboration of the state controlled experiment, this dissertation aims to demonstration how it produced the institutions set up by the provident state which are at work in entreprises in their "traversalite" such as regulation and accunting. The institutions, which we define as "institutions numineuses" serve the same purpose as the church once did before 1789, namely regulating the sacred incontrollable in the economic sphere. Self management production schemes today strive to get away from the prevalent entrepreneurial standard, they are confronted with the fact of their being institutionalized, a propoensity they have to assume the very social form they are supposed to context. Revesing experimental tradition in fourier's definition of the term, analysis of the "institutions numineuses" must be continued in the study of self management

Full textMost of our everyday behaviours are guided by conventional rules (‘red traffic light means stop'). These rules, based on arbitrary associations between stimuli and actions, must be learned. We can learn them individually, by trial and error, or, at a lower cost, via observation of others. The social transmission of rules, despite its importance for any gregarious animal species, has seldom been studied and it neural bases remain unexplored. My thesis inaugurates a neuroscience approach of social rule learning. Two main questions are addressed: 1. Is social rule learning based on the same neural bases as individual rule learning in humans? 2. Can the rhesus macaque, a crucial model for neuroscience but considered as a poor imitator by comparative psychologists, be a suitable animal model to explore how the brain learns from others? The first part of my experimental contribution includes two fMRI studies on healthy human volunteers. It demonstrates the existence of a common brain network for the recall of rules, whether learned by trial and error or by observation, as well as similar brain activation dynamics during individual and social learning. The second part consists of three behavioural studies in rhesus monkeys. It confirms the validity of this animal model regarding imitation by revealing a) a spontaneous tendency of this species to observe and take advantage of a conspecific struggling with new rules, b) an interesting propensity to learn more from others' errors than from its own, and c) an ability to learn not only from conspecifics but also from humans

Full textOne of the greatest difficulties of the FMS (flexible manufacturing system) planning and scheduling problem is the control of the dynamic operations of the system during real-time. Scheduling at this level usually follows either a predictive schedule calculated before the beginning of production or reactive decisions made during real-time. Both schedules are important as they prepare operators to plan ahead and to react to random events. The challenge in our research is to exploit the inherent flexibility of FMS to obtain these schedule. Predictive schedule is obtained based on some assumptions of operation data; the difficulty is therefore getting a good estimate of these data. Reactive scheduling has to provide a solution with very tight time constraint. The general idea of our research is to find the principles and tools to improve both predictive and reactive scheduling together with machine learning. We begin our research by reducing the complexity of the problem breaking it into many resource allocation problems, corresponding to each of the decision-making locations in the FMS. Next, intelligent agents are trained by supervised learning, with examples provided by simulation. Every agent is able to decide individually, without the assistance of other agents. Although each agent is "myopic", being limited to its own local scheduling problem, they are able to propose a feasible solution in a distributed processing environment. The main focus of our research is to investigate the group behavior of these agents. When they come together, they will face adaptation, conflict resolution, competition and other "social" problems. Each agent will be judged according to the effectiveness of its contribution to the global production objective. Using these performance feedback, each agent can improve its performance, through reinforcement learning, as a team member. A case study is used to illustrate our approach

Full textThis thesis analyses the contact of languages in both the social and educational domain and focuses on «the learning of spanish as a foreign language by the bilingual franco-malagasy learner». Indeed, the often inexplicable errors made in work, for the most part written, produced by learners of spanish has aroused numerous questions of both a linguistic and didactic nature with regard to their origin. Amongst the four languages – malgache, French, English and Spanish – used in an educational context and therefore in the learner assimilated was French whereby the common origin of two romance languages would imply either success or failure, a priori shared between the two at the time of learning Spanish. However, the analisis taken from different perspectives of the corpus constituted from the carrying out of classes – input and intake – and from the work produced by the learners – output – brought to the forefront other domains susceptible to providing some of the more plausible explanations social and psychological dimensions of the language characterise the interlanguage not only as an amalgam of previously acquired systems, but also as a combination of the «sous-systems» according to which the targzet language is acquired in a purely procedural manner

Full textIn honeybees, interactions between individuals are cornerstones for the organization of the colony, especially during recruitment for foraging. Besides learning the location of a food source thanks to the well-known dance, the recruited bees learn the characteristics of odors of foraged flowers through nectar transfer (trophallaxis). The underlying mechanisms are still unclear because this learning can occur without any nectar transfer, suggesting that other, probably social, learning mechanisms are involved. We reproduced this interaction in the lab, using a protocol based on the appetitive olfactory conditioning of the proboscis extension response (PER). Here, an initially neutral odorant (conditioned stimulus) was associated with a contact with a nestmate (social unconditioned stimulus), without any sugar reward. Our experiments show that this simple social contact between workers can act as a reinforcement for bees. As a result, they show PER to the odor previously associated with a social contact. We further demonstrate that antenna contacts are essential for the effectiveness of this social learning, representing a tactile social cue. We thus developed a system allowing to record bees’ antennal movements accurately and at high frequency (90 hz). We then determined the factors modulating bees’ antennal movements. First, we show that bees display contrasted and reproducible responses to odors of different biological values. Second, the coupling of these recordings with associative conditioning experiments shows that these antennal responses are plastic and modified by individual experience. This work has shed light on a new type of social learning in insects and has furthered our understanding of antennal movements as indicators of the motivational, attentional and physiological state of bees and of the valence of perceived stimuli

Full textClassified as historical, economic crises of the 1970s and the current continues to undermine the stability of firms and jobs. Vector of value creation, capture business opportunity is one of the possible factors contributing to dynamic market economy (Kuratko, 2003). To develop entrepreneurial attitudes and the development of entrepreneurship and initiate students (Gasse, 1985 ; Hernandez, 1999), the French state has developed its offering entrepreneurship training to more a million students so that they perceive entrepreneurships as a carrer option (Commission of the European Community, 2006). Thus, we can examine the actual impact of these actions on the educational development of entrepreneurship and engage students (Fayolle, 1999). More specifically, we ask to what extent entrepreneurship training can enable students to change their representations on the entrepreneurial career and develop their skills to achieve this business opportunity. To answer our question, we have identified the current indicators measuring the effectiveness of entrepreneurship training. However, it seems that the majority of these indicators is limited in relation to our research subject. Indeed, they focus only on satisfaction of participants as well as the economic and social impacts caused by these educational activities, and analyze learning without actually made by the participants, nor distinguish cognitive and contextual conditions in which are participants involved in learning. However, these factors have a significant role in learning (Bandura & Wood, 1989). To address these shortcomings, we have chosen to analyze the content of the participants' entrepreneurial learning-by-doing developed by the Maison de l'Entrepreneuriat du Limousin : Campus Entrepreneur. To address this issue, we present in the first part of selected conceptual and theoretical foundations guiding our research. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of learning in entrepreneurships as well as concepts of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial spirit. Made this clarification, we will then state of the literature on the current assessment of training schemes for entrepreneurship. Finally, in the third chapter, we will identify the variables that influence learning. The second part will focus more in the empirical field. Indeed, the fourth chapter will be dedicated to the presentation of the field of study. In the fifth chapter, we present the methodology and results of our research. Finally, the last chapter will be devoted to a critical analysis of our results

Full textIn celine's work death represents a central source out of which a certain number of thematic systems start, interfering with one another. The systems are generally bivalent and will lead us now to an ominous shape of death now to a fairy-like one, most of the time to both at once. Whereas hatred and the different aspects of the matter incline towards a morbid side (in the first two parts), the study of locations and characters (in the third and fourth parts) shows they can have a double personality, that is particularly true for the woman, both siring death and life (fith part). Murderous strengths explode with apocalypse, but it is already the way to resurrection (sixth part) which can transfer us to the other world, the " outre-la ", as well as delirium (seventh part). A door is opened then to the enchantment of death (eighth part) - celine's writing is one of the keys of, thanks to the proceeding of " trans- position " which creates " emotion " (ninth part). Thus is painted the face of death in celine's work : a crossing of the horrors of reality to a fairy-like resurrection

Full textChildren’s access to Knowledge is driven by epistemophilia. Epistemophilia is itself a function of the libidinal stages undergone. This is to say that psychodynamic conceptions constitute our principal system of reference. We have, accordingly, taken up the work of Mr Klein and his successors again, insofar as they sited the point of convergence of a child’s exploratory manoeuvres in the mother’s womb and in the mother herself. Children must, in fact, attempt to answer determining questions concerning their origins, in particular, the time before their birth, their creation and the understanding they may attempt to obtain of their life in the womb and the time thereafter. . . To us, these epistemophilial explorations in children seem to be driven by their combined desire and fear to confront their parents’ disillusionment, or even hatred, which, moreover, may be provoked to better assess its measure. However, more often than not, the determination to pacify prevails, thanks to this co-epistemophilia which, for parents as for children, amounts to recognising oneself in the other and the other in oneself. Thus Knowledge could essentially even be considered Sacred. Knowledge could encourage a child’s acceptance within the human community. . . Finally, our study material has been compiled through the clinical observation of children presenting cognitive difficulties, coupled or not with failures in school, who were monitored during the course of consultations with a doctor or treatment in hospital. We have therefore endeavoured this time to put epistemophobia, in its psychodynamic sense, back in context. Finally, we have attempted to suggest a few guiding principals for the reimbursement of medical expenses

It shall highlight the invocation of a « body dominated inquiry » underpinned by continuous sensory, motor and affective channels. It shall bring intelligibility to the inquiry-adjustment realized in care environment and shows the existence of back and fourths between productive and contributive registers of care. Perspectives shall be raised regarding contribution to professionalization, constitution, training and institutionnal recognition of psychomotor therapist work

Full textTo study the question of writing for deaf persons not based on spoken or sign languages, which seem almost inevitably associated with the study of reading and writing, but based on the writing itself as a means of possible expression and of language acquisition, we have surveyed around fifty deaf and hard of hearing persons. While avoiding a "pro-oralist" or on the contrary a "pro-gestualist" attitude, we were able to study reading and writing in our subjects. The results of our interviews shows that, most commonly the practice of writing is common in our subjects even those with little reading ability. If some of them have difficulties in reading or writing, their relationship to writing is related to communication and language acquisition. Is writing an important but neglected factor in the life of deaf persons?

Full textConsidering the body as the central element of the discipline of performance art, the following paper seeks to comprehend the nature of the space opened by this artistic disciplino to the corporeal presence in relation to the new condition of the image - when it longer corresponds to a physical referent outside itself, but represents a concatenation of the image, Also, this research aims to critically explore the chalenges inflicted on the body by the institucionalization of performance art through the hierarchical and archiving process of institutional documentation. This dissertation is based on a format that considers writing to be a performace and is thus highly and intentionally invested with the projections and particularities of a specific body - that of this author and performer. Besides, this written research is developed from an in intimate relation to the artistic practices conceivid during the period of two years´s performance acts - as well as, you, the spectator of this performance act - is also seen as particular body - which gives meaning to the artistic object through the contingency of the interpretation of the corporeal representation, Finally this research uses a dicussion about the body - which intends to experience it while minimally distancing oneself from it - in order to reach that part of the body from which it is impossible do disassociate: flesh.

Full textThis thesis studies the fonctionning, sources and implications, of the "fantastic" narration in the works of louis-ferdinand celine. Successively treated are also the influence of the esoteric, an experience which most likely dates back to the period between 1910 and 1920, and his contact with certain literary theories of the 1920's, in particular the fantastique social of pierre mac orlan. The central part of this thesis consists in a textual analysis of passages where the celinian narration systematically directs the romanesque text towards the fantastic narration. This is followed by a thematic study of the celinian fantastic which replaces, one by one one or by groups, the elements of celinian fiction in their relation to irrealism

Full textThe deaf are a language community that belongs at the same time to the world of the hearing. Due to its past history lsf is less widely used than french, its vocabulary therefore less extended. Lsf has no written form. Interpreters called upon to translate into lsf lectures or conferences held in french have sometimes to convey notions that have no counterpart in lsf. In that respect descriptive studies or investigations into their status as languages are of little use. It proved necessary to probe into actual occurrences of sign language communication inorder to determine how lsf speakers adjust their language to account for oral language expressions and extra-linguistic features. Once such procedures are evidenced and evaluated on the basis of speech contents, the interpreter will make use of means specific to lsf when interpreting, always preserving the required balance between transcoding and interpretation proper

Full textIn an article in 1936, Walter Benjamin predicted the decline of oral tale in modern society, in which novels are a favoured means of expression. That very year, Céline demonstrated the same phenomenon in his second novel: in the prologue to Mort à crédit, advised by his cousin to change his genre, Ferdinand tries in vain to tell the " Légende du Roi Krogold ". This parallel allows us to suppose that Céline was himself sensitive to the decline of oral tale phenomenon, and that his novelistic universe is not monolithic. Such a perspective enables us to read the core of the novel Mort à crédit as an account of the coming of age of an author, in other words, as the path of a child forced to relinquish oral tale to come to the prologue where he appears as a novelist. This reading will in fat cast a light on the reason why Céline wrote ballet arguments and scenarios for twenty odd years: these texts are also what Céline must have been relinquishing in spite of himself to write his novels. But at the same time, this reading of Mort à crédit will suggest that instead of relinquishing to set aside oral tale, he devised a kind of synthesis with the novel. Indeed, it is possible to note traces of the synthesis in the stylistic work of Céline
