Abstract:
The learning process in Darul Ishlah Vocational High School is not optimal, student learning outcomes have not reached optimal, monotonous learning media, limited learning time, and delays in the learning process if the teacher concerned is unable to attend are the main things behind the research. Darul Ishlah Vocational High School require an innovative learning media that can be used to implement learning both face-to-face and online. So that the learning that is carried out can run as it should and the rate of student learning can increase and be able to explore the material provided by teacher and be able to increase student interest and learning outcomes in accordance with the targets set by the school. Therefore, one of the efforts to increase the effectiveness of learning that can be done is to implement a Learning Management System by combining face-to-face and online learning which is an alternative to learning process at Darul Ishlah Vocational School both in pandemic conditions and face-to-face learning processes. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the LMS implementation on the student learning process. System development in making applications using the method Waterfall. The modeling system used is the Unified Modeling Language (UML). In making applocations using PHP with the Codeigniter Framework as language scripting and the framework used to create applications, MySQL as the database. With this LMS, it is hoped that it can help the learning process become more effective, make it easier for teacher to distribute materials, assignment, exam questions to student. This LMS application can be used as an additional discussion medium for teacher and student to discuss unfinished subject matter, and a student can work on multiple-choice exam questions and collect assignments given by the teacher.

The Implementation of e-government has been established with the Instruction of President. Application of e-government is a research topic that has received a lot attention because of its improve the function and management of the city by utilizing Information and Communication Technology to improve the quality of public services. In this research focused on one application of e-government that called Mobile City. This study observe 22 application that has been implemented in 22 regencies/cities. This study have goals to identify and compare all 22 Mobile City Applocation to get the rank of the regency/city based on the quality of its application and research city with the best application . The results of the study to show the Mobile City application applies a Location Based Services (LBS) system so the main features of this application showed tourism locations or public facilities. The difference of application features between regencies/cities is depends on how the regency/city developed their application. The city that has the most complete features on its mobile city is Surakarta that called Solo Destination. This application is managed by the Office of Infromation Communication Statistics and Coding of Surakarta City with the most frequently used feature is community complaints.

Abstract:
STEM education is currently one of the most updated topics in line with 21st century learning. Technology-based education is integrated in science, engineering and mathematics. Analysis is needed to see the development of educational activities, especially in the field of STEM education. However, according to TIMSS and PISA, there is still a lack of human resources who master the STEM field. Efforts to advance the development of STEM education are carried out using analysis through the distribution of assessments. In this case the analysis includes two aspects, namely the level of knowledge and the application of the STEM method. The comparison of the two aspects is based on the accumulative data of lecturers' assessments. This study aims to analyze the level of knowledge and the application of the STEM method used as an effort to develop STEM education. This type of research is mixed research. Research that applies two combinations of qualitative and quantitative research. Quantitative research to determine the value of the analysis between variables. Qualitative research to strengthen quantitative results. The results of this study that knowledge about STEM in the high category is 80% while the application of the STEM method is in the low category with a percentage of 25%. The application of the STEM method is hampered by the lack of STEM education methods owned by lecturers. Keyword: Develop, STEM Education, Applocation, Knowledge

Abstract:
AbstractChemo-resistance hinders the therapeutic efficacy of temozolomide (TMZ) in treating glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Recurrence of GBM even after combination of maximal tumor resection, concurrent radio-chemotherapy, and systemic TMZ applocation is inevitable and attributed to the high therapeutic resistance of glioma stem cells (GSCs), which can survive, evolve, and initiate tumor tissue remodeling, the underlying mechanisms of GSCs chemo-resistance, have not been fully elucidated up-to-now. Emerging evidence showed that METTL3-mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification contributed to the self-renew and radio-resistance in GSCs, however, its role on maintenance of TMZ resistance of GSCs has not been clarified and need further investigations. We found that the cell viability and half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of GSCs against TMZ significantly decreased after GSCs underwent serum-induced differentiation to adherent growth of tumor cells. Besides, METTL3 expression and total m6A modification declined dramatically in consistence with GSCs differentiation. Knockdown of METTL3 weakened self-renew, proliferation and TMZ IC50 of GSCs, whereas enhanced TMZ induced γH2AX level, indicating upregulation of double-strand DNA damage. We also found that mRNA stability of two critical DNA repair genes (MGMT and APNG) was regulated by METTL3-mediated m6A modification. In conclusion, we speculated that METTL3-mediated m6A modification of MGMT and APNG mRNAs played crucial roles on suppression of TMZ sensitivity of GSCs, which suggest a potential new therapeutic target of METTL3 against GBM.

The “predictor-corrector” feedback controller, a process adjustment scheme proposed for semiconductor manufacturing run-to-run processes that drift, is extended to the random stopping case in the number of sampling. The controller is based on single and double exponentially-weighted-moving-average (EWMA) statistics, thus its performance depends on the choices of EWMA discounted factors. Stability conditions are given for a nonstationary ARIMA process proposed by Tseng et al. (2002) and adjusted with a MISO double EWMA (dEWMA) controller. Under a linear SISO process setting, this research minimizes the Mean Square Error (MSE) performance of the process output has been investigated under the assumption that the process disturbance is IMA(1,1) series. In order to reduce the manufacturing costs, we also propose an economic design of EWMA controllers, which are also called “optimal stopping-time problems”, and some related result is driven. Some robustness and sensitivity results are also obtained for the single EWMA controller and the double EWMA controller.

Abstract:
Metal-organic framework complexes in general and multi metal-citrate complexes in particular have been synthesized through green route. Hydrothermal method adopted in present research is decorated with features; a simple one pot synthesis, cost effectiveness & easy to scale up for commercial production. Efficient synthesis conditions like mild temperature & shorter duration further rules out possibility of forming byproducts which may cause damage to environment. The synthesis is environmental benign, as it eliminates use & recovery of harmful organic solvents namely N, N-dimethyl formamide & N, N- diethyl formamide, used by researchers in synthesis of metal-organic framework complexes. Multiple metal ions introduced in their frameworks to exploit unique coordination properties of different metals ions. Multi metalcitrate complexes have also been synthesized using lime juice, squeezed from fresh fruit & strained, thereby reducing time & cost involved in extraction of citric acid commercially. These complexes are bluish green well defined crystalline solids having cubic geometry with a layered structure supported by a strong network of hydrogen bonds formed by ─OH of coordinated water lying between layers. They have been characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy & Powder X- Ray diffraction techniques. Stability of complexes has been established by Thermogravimetric analysis. Complexes exhibit mesoporous character & narrow pore size distribution as demonstrated by BJH & DFT models. Owing to good adsorption properties & mesoporous nature, these complexes exhibit exorbitant adsorption affinity for large molecules of dyes & can be used as scavengers for dye stuff removal from industrial waste discharge to replace high cost carbon adsorbents & prevent water pollution with resultant toxic, carcinogenic & mutagenic effects of dye stuff on living beings. Multi metalcitrate complexes serve as promising luminescent probe for sensing & recognition of NH4+, Fe(CN)6 4-, I ¯, CrO42 & Cr2O7 2- ions through a simple & straight forward method involving conspicuous visual display of color change upon introduction of guest ions in their framework. They may be explored for applications in gas adsorption & separation and sensing, capture & catalytic degradation of harmful gases. Being fluorescent they have great potential in bio medical field for drug storage, drug delivery, medical imaging & biological sensors which require water soluble nanocrystalline fluorescent materials.

The main purpose of this study was to make sized paper with good performance of ink color and conservation. Three series of sizing agents (rosin, AKD and Polymaron-360) were applied by internal sizing and dipping process under neutral pH value, respectively. After accelerated aging, optical and physical properties of these sized papers were evaluated to find the best formulation of sizing. The results of internal sized paper showed that the sizing degree was in proportion to the dosage of AKD, which led to slippery paper surface and poor ink color for higher AKD dosage. The proper dosage was around 0.6 to 0.7% of AKD. Alum would have adverse effect on the durability of paper. 0.5% alum with 1.0% rosin size (Hi-pHase and Size pine T) was suggested in preparing the sized papers. Polymaron-360 internal sized paper was good to the folding endurance; the ink color was similar to that of acidic paper. Polymaron-360 could be considered as a good sizing agent, with dosage of 0.5-1.0%, for good aging resistance. The results also showed that the sizing degree of rosin dipping sized paper was unstable and faded out easily. In comparison with two other sizing agents, ink color of Polymaron-360 dipping sized paper was better than that of AKD dipping sized paper. Ink color of AKD dipping sized paper and AKD internal sized paper were almost similar. However, ink color of Polymaron-360 internal sized paper was better than that of Polymaron-360 dipping sized paper. The optimum dipping dosage in stock was 0.01- 0.02% for AKD, and 0.05-0.50% for Polymaron-360. The brightness of dipping sized papers was lower than that of internal sized papers. After accelerated aging, the degree of color reversion of dipping sized papers was greater than that of internal sized papers. Regarding to the pH value and physical strength, dipping sized papers were considered to be better than those of internal sized papers.

Heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer (HIT) solar cell is currently one of the most popular researches in photovoltaic. The low temperature growth (< 200 °C) of high efficiency of the HIT solar cells has many advantages: (1) the using of thin silicon wafers (<100 μm) can reduce costs. (2) Low temperature process cannot reduce the passivation quality. (3) Low temperature process can reduce energy costs. However, the adding of a-Si:H will cause the short wavelength light to reduce the lower short circuit current density than the conventional silicon solar cells. In this thesis, we use the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Chemical Vapor Deposition (ECR-CVD) to fabricate the boron-doped hydrogenated nanocrystalline silicon thin films (p-nc-Si:H) and use it to be the window layer and back surface field layer of HIT solar cells. The wider bandgap of nc-Si:H can not only result the highly transparent to enhance the absorption of absorber, but also enhance the build-in electrical field to increase the open circuit voltage. Comparing with the a-Si:H, the nc-Si:H is more stable and highly conductivity. Furthermore, the nc-Si:H can prevent the mismatch of interface which can reduce the recombination effect to enhance the open circuit voltage in the solar cells. The high plasma density and low ion bombardment of ECR-CVD is suitable to growth the silicon-based thin films. In this study, we used the ECR-CVD to deposit the boron-doped nc-Si:H thin films on glass substrates and investigate the effect of hydrogen dilution ratio, flow rate of B2H6, working pressure, and annealing process on the film qualities. The high crystallinity (50.6 %), optical bandgap (2.1 eV), and highly conductivity (9×101 ohm-1cm-1) can be obtained. Moreover, we apply the nc-Si:H thin films to fabricate the HIT solar cells (p-nc-Si:H/i-a-SiC:H/n-c-Si/i-a-SiC:H/n+-nc-Si:H). The 12.7 % (Voc = 594 mV, Jsc =29.8 mA/cm2, FF =71.7%) of conversion efficiency can be achieved with active area (0.73 cm2)and planar sturctuer.

In this research, a bender elements system and the related software have been developed for evaluating the in-flight shear wave velocity in dynamic centrifuge tests. The in-flight shear wave velocity and the calculated maximum shear modulus profiles of the models were obtained. Before and after seismic events shear wave velocity profile can also be determined, and the profile is used to evaluate the change of dynamic soil property and the liquefaction potential of soil bed based soil resistance criteria in terms of shear wave velocity.   During earthquakes the shear modulus would change with time. The developed bender element system is capable of measuring the evolution of shear wave velocity on the model during shaking as well. The test result shows that the shear wave velocities decrease with the increase of excess pore water pressure during shaking, while the shear wave velocities gradually increase as the excess pore water pressure dissipates after stop of shaking.

To examine the feasibility of applying children’s literature to English teaching for EFL students in the junior high school classroom, the researcher conducted a teaching experiment. In the teaching experiment, the simplified edition of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was adopted as reading materials. The participants were 92 EFL students (8th graders) in a junior high school in central Taiwan. The results of the teaching experiment showed that most of the students held positive attitude towards the teacher’s instruction and they could comprehend the reading texts better with the teacher’s instruction after the teaching experiment. It was proved that applying children’s literature to English teaching for EFL students in the junior high school classroom was workable. This thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter One includes four sections, background and motivation, significance and purposes of the study, literature review, and the organization of the thesis. In Chapter Two, the biography of Lyman Frank Baum and a brief illustration of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are first included. Then the analysis of the elements of fantasy literature in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is presented. Finally, the discussion focus on the themes and images in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In Chapter Three, the details of the pilot study and the main study are presented. The information includes the participants, instruments, data collection procedures, analysis of the data collected through the teachers’ questionnaires, and the teaching procedures. In Chapter Four, the comparative analysis of the students’ pre-instructional questionnaires and the students’ post-instructional questionnaires is first discussed. Then, the results of the pre-test and the post-test for the comprehension of the reading texts are also presented. Finally, in Chapter Five, the major findings of the teaching experiment and the suggestions for further studies are included.
