Abstract:
ABSTRACT Expression of the two Bacillus subtilis genes encoding l-asparaginase is controlled by independent regulatory factors. The ansZ gene (formerly yccC) was shown by mutational analysis to encode a functional l-asparaginase, the expression of which is activated during nitrogen-limited growth by the TnrA transcription factor. Gel mobility shift and DNase I footprinting experiments indicate that TnrA regulates ansZ expression by binding to a DNA site located upstream of the ansZ promoter. The expression of the ansA gene, which encodes the second l-asparaginase, was found to be induced by asparagine. The ansA repressor, AnsR, was shown to negatively regulate its own expression.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this study, composite materials consisting in HKUST-1 [Cu3(BTC)2] (BTC: benzene 1, 3, 5-tricarboxylate) and an Indonesian activated natural zeolite (ANZ) from Klaten, Central Java, were successfully prepared and characterized. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the combination of these two materials on the characteristics of the composite as well as to determine its CO2 gas adsorption ability. The composite HKUST-1-ANZ (ANZ@HKUST-1) was synthesized in two different techniques, i.e., solvothermal and sonication method. The obtained materials exhibited X-ray diffractogram characteristics of both HKUST-1 and ANZ. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analysis showed a combination of peaks from HKUST-1 and ANZ, i.e. peaks assigned to carboxylate groups and bonds between Cu-O from HKUST-1, as well as N-H bending and SiO from ANZ. The addition of ANZ to HKUST-1 decreased its surface area and nitrogen sorption capacity. Application of the composites as CO2 capture materials shows their CO2 adsorption capacity is increased (ca. 12%) comparing to the initial materials.

Abstract:
Changes of bone during pregnancy and during lactation evaluated by bone mineral density (BMD) may have implications for risk of osteoporosis and fractures. We studied BMD in women of differing ages, parity, and lactation histories immediately postpartum for BMD,T-scores, andZ-scores. Institutional Review Board approval was received. All women while still in hospital postpartum were asked to participate. BMD was performed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) machine at femoral neck (FN) and lumbar spine (LS) by a single technician. Of 132 participants, 73 (55.3%) were ≤30 years; 27 (20.5%) were primiparous; 36 (27.3%) were grand multiparous; 35 (26.5%) never breast fed. Mean FNT-scores andZ-scores were higher than respective mean LS scores, but all means were within the normal limits. Mean LST-scores andZ-scores were highest in the grand multiparas. There were only 2 (1.5%) outliers with lowZ-scores. We conclude that, in a large cohort of Israeli women with BMD parameters assessed by DXA within two days postpartum, meanT-scores andZ-scores at both the LS and FN were within normal limits regardless of age (20–46 years), parity (1–13 viable births), and history of either no or prolonged months of lactation (up to 11.25 years).

Abstract:
Zeolites impregnated with Ni were successfully synthesized through wet impregnation using activated natural zeolites (ANZs) and the nickel nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2·6H2O) precursor at different concentrations of 1%, 2% and 3% (w/w) (hereafter referred to as ANZ/Ni 1%, ANZ/Ni 2%, and ANZ/Ni 3%). The synthesized products were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), surface area analyzer (SAA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), total acidity measurements by employing ammonia adsorption and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) theory. The obtained catalysts were employed in the hydrocracking of waste cooking oils, and the formed products were analyzed through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The FTIR results indicated that ANZs impregnated with Ni can increase zeolite acidity. The test results of total acidity revealed that 3% ANZ/Ni catalyst exhibited the maximum total acidity of 3.70 mmol/g. XRD diffractogram confirmed the successful impregnation of Ni into ANZs, which was indicated by the characteristic diffraction peaks appearing at 2θ of 9.75º, 13.41º, 19.56º, 22.25º, 25.61º, 27.66º and 31.91º. SEM analysis indicated that the particle size of zeolite catalysts was non-uniform, but these catalysts exhibited a highly uniform surface after they were activated. Moreover, the ANZ catalysts impregnated with different concentrations of Ni exhibited a highly uniform particle size. The ANZ/Ni 3% catalyst had small uniform particle. The BET results revealed that the ANZ/Ni 2% catalyst exhibited the maximum pore volume and surface area and relatively smaller radii of pores. GC-MS was employed to determine liquid products, and its results showed that the ANZ/Ni 3% catalyst had the maximum amount of liquid products of 18%.

Abstract:
17074 Background: ACORD is a 1-week, intensive educational workshop designed to increase skills of junior cancer clinical researchers from the Asia Pacific region. Participants come from region of diverse cultures, languages and resources. Methods: We surveyed participants 1 year after the workshop to determine its impact on their research output. Participants were grouped into those from: Australia or New Zealand (ANZ), developed Asian countries (Japan, Korea, Taiwan), and developing Asian countries (India, China, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia). Results: The response rate was higher from developed Asia (10/10, 100%), than ANZ (44/59, 75%) and developing Asia (7/12, 58%). The proportion of respondents spending more than half of their time in research was higher in ANZ (21%), than developing Asia (14%) or developed Asia (10%). The workshop was rated very valuable by more respondents from developing Asia (71%) than from ANZ (59%) and developed Asia (60%). More than half of respondents had submitted their ACORD protocol to an IRB. Progress activating protocols was reported more frequently by respondents from developing Asia (86%) than developed Asia (70%) and ANZ (59%). Involvement in other research was also reported more frequently by respondents from developing Asia (100%) than ANZ (82%) or developed Asia (80%). The most frequently reported barriers to progressing research were: other work commitments (71% for developing Asia, 44% for ANZ, 30% for developed Asia) and lack of funding (71% for developing Asia, 39% for ANZ, and 33% for developed Asia). Continuing contact with faculty and participants was reported more frequently by respondents from ANZ (59%), than developed Asia (43%) or developing Asia (30%). Conclusions: Respondents were highly satisfied with the workshop, perceiving positive effects on their research skills and careers. Participants from developing countries were more likely to take their protocols forward, despite reporting greater barriers to progress, and less continuing contact with faculty and participants. Protected time and support for researchers are worth considering for developing countries wanting to improve their research output. [Table: see text]

Abstract:
ARLIS/ANZ Art Libraries Society, Australia New Zealand was formed in August 1976. Since then, ARLIS/ANZ has arranged a number of seminars and workshops for art librarians in both countries; found finance to bring three noted art librarians to the antipodes to give talks and workshops which stimulated both members and other interested professionals; and has published thirteen issues of ARLIS/ANZ News. ARLIS has served as a valuable support for art librarians working in isolation, at great distance from international centres of publishing and art activity. Distance between ARLIS/ANZ centres led to the formation of local interest groups and cooperation between art libraries in art galleries and museums, universities, schools of art, and national resource libraries.

Abstract:
Since the inception of ARLIS/ANZ, Australia and New Zealand have increasingly seen themselves as part of the Asia-Pacific region rather than as a distant outpost of Britain. The impact of post-War European immigrants from countries other than Britain has been felt and immigration from the Asia-Pacific region is now equally important. These developments have contributed to a confident, diverse culture, within which indigenous art has gained greater recognition. Art librarians are benefiting from worldwide electronic communications which have equally helped overcome the ‘tyranny of distance’ within the region itself. Thus, ARLISANZ-L now complements ARLIS/ANZ News. Because of the vast distance between members, ARLIS/ANZ bases its entire central executive within a single local chapter for two years at a time. Local chapters are flourishing, most particularly around major centres. Dispersal of members is also overcome by the all-important annual conferences and workshops. Like other ARLIS groups, ARLIS/ANZ engages in advocacy on behalf of art libraries and art librarians. A major concern for ARLIS/ANZ remains the documentation of the art of Australia and New Zealand both as a result of scholarship and publishing from within the region, and in major international bibliographies and indexes.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to review the return-to-work rates following acquired brain injury in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The reported return-to-work rates for the nine ANZ studies varied from 29% to 64% with a median of 46% and for 23 international studies the return-to-work rates varied from 19% to 88% (median also 46%). When the results of all ANZ studies were combined to form a total of 1010 subjects then the overall return-to-work rate was 44%. A number of methodological concerns were raised and it was estimated that only about 7–10% of persons with an acquired brain injury are likely to return to the same job.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a new method for cross array to estimate two-dimensional direction of arrival (2-D DOA) in the presence of mutual coupling. In this method, the array elements which are affected by the same mutual coupling are chosen onx-axis andz-axis, respectively. Then a new matrix is constructed with the proper entries of cross covariance matrix of the chosen elements outputs onx-axis andz-axis. Propagation method (PM) and rotational invariance techniques for uniform linear array (ULA) are utilized in the constructed matrix to obtain two parameters correlated with elevations and azimuths. While calculating and pairing the two parameters, only once eigendecomposing and several division operations are required with the relationship among the matrix, its eigenvalues, and corresponding eigenvectors. Simulations are presented to validate the performance of the proposed method.

Purpose. To estimate the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in a multiethnic population, assess the association between country of birth (COB) and GDM, and assess whether the association varies by body mass index (BMI).Methods. A retrospective study of 5260 pregnant women attending Sunshine Hospital, Australia, between 1st July 2012 and 30th June 2013. We fitted logistic regression models to assess the association between COB and GDM. An interaction between BMI and COB was assessed by likelihood ratio test.Results. In the 4610 included in our analysis, most common were women born in Australia or New Zealand (ANZ, 1932, 41.9%) and in Southeast Asia (922, 20%). GDM was diagnosed in 606 (13.2%) women. After adjusting for confounders, women from East Asia were most likely to develop GDM (37, 24.0%) and 5-fold more likely than women from ANZ (OR = 4.77, 95% CI: 3.12, 7.31,p<0.001). Women from other Asian countries had a 3-fold increased risk of GDM compared to women from ANZ. There was no evidence of an interaction by BMI(p=0.24). Conclusions. Women born in Asia have higher risk of GDM compared to women born in ANZ. These data provide support for including COB in GDM management policies.

Abstract:
Particulate Al2O3 matrix nanocomposites containing 1 vol.%Ni were prepared by the heterogeneous precipitation method and the addition of 5 vol.% ZrO2 (ANZ) or 1 vol.% Cr2O3 (ANC). The prepared samples were subjected to the low energy drop weight impact tests to compare the behaviour of the composites under low energy impact and to investigate the damage mechanisms. The pure Al2O3, Al2O3/Ni, Al2O3/ZrO2 and Al2O3/Cr2O3 compositions with the same additive ratios were also produced to make the comparison systematically. Also, the Vickers hardness measurements were carried out and a significant increase in hardness was attained for both ANZ and ANC composites. The average hardness value around 24.8?1.0GPa was measured for the ANZ and ANC composites which means ~15% improvement compared to the pure Al2O3. Between all the compositions, the maximum force (Fmax) value was obtained for the ANZ (for 12 J impact energy level Fmax = 26617N) according to the low energy drop weight impact test results. Tensile radial crack network formation, cone formation, fracture and crushing of the cone structure were observed as damage mechanisms for all compositions. The volume of conical frustum structure was evaluated for each composition and the effect of microstructure on possible ballistic performance was also discussed.

Abstract:
We address the influence of and constraints on actors, networks, structures and institutions within marketing systems. Using case study analysis we contribute to effectuation literature by discussing the loose coupling of Fairtrade ANZ to its market development partners. While creating certainty for producers by maintaining focus on its development aims, Fairtrade ANZ adopts an affordable loss approach to market development, arguably at the cost of communicating to its highly fragmented and contingent market place. Simmonds, Gazley, and Dallenbach’s (2018) morphogenetic cycle framework brings a theoretical and analytical lens to examining the Fairtrade marketing system by delayering the interconnections, interdependencies and interrelations existing within each layer. In untangling the embedded social, historical and institutional contexts within which Fairtrade ANZ exists we offer this paper as an initial exploration of effectuation, change and stability in a complex marketing system.

Abstract:
Social work in Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) is a contested profession on a journey of professionalisation in an era where contradictory forces impact on its position and strength. Social work education reflects these tensions, being influenced by economic and political forces. The delineation of a benchmark qualification for entry is a core feature of professional status and so the inception of professionalregistration has impacted on social work education in ANZ as it has elsewhere. The aim of this paper is to explore dimensions of the history of social work education in ANZ, the impact of the Social Workers Registration Act (2003) (SWRA) and to examine some current constraints and consider the challenges professional education faces in the next 50 years. It is argued that social work education has been, is and will remain a site of struggle.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to analyze six essential oils fromZanthoxylumgenus (family Rutaceae) in China and evaluate their repellent activities againstTribolium castaneumandLasioderma serricorneadults. Six essential oils fromZanthoxylumgenus, includingZ. armatum,Z. dimorphophyllum,Z. dimorphophyllumvar.spinifolium,Z. piasezkii,Z. stenophyllum, andZ. dissitum, were obtained by hydrodistillation and their yields were ranging from 0.02% to 0.53%. Totally, there were 39 chemical components revealed by GC-MS. Among them, some components with high relative content existed in more than threeZanthoxylumspecies. For instance, bothδ-cadinene (1.21%–17.15%) and spathulenol (0.36%–10.19%) appeared in essential oils ofZ. dimorphophyllum,Z. piasezkii,Z. stenophyllum, andZ. dissitumwhich were found to have higher content of sesquiterpenoids. The repellent activities of six essential oil samples againstT. castaneumandL. serricorneadults were investigated for the first time. Data demonstrated that sixZanthoxylumspecies had much stronger repellent activities againstT. castaneumthanL. serricorneadults, especially in 2 hours after exposure. The results indicate that these six essential oils fromZanthoxylumhave significant potential to be developed into natural repellents to control insects in grains, food, and traditional Chinese medicinal materials.

Abstract:
Pain beliefs influence understanding of pain mechanisms and outcomes. This study in rheumatologic conditions sought to determine a relationship between beliefs about pain and functioning. Participants in Arthritis New Zealand’s (ANZ) exercise and education programmes were used. Demographic data and validated instruments used included the Arthritis Impact Measurement Scale 2nd version-Short Form (AIMS2-SF) to measure functioning, and two scales of organic and psychological beliefs in Pain Beliefs Questionnaires (PBQ) to measure pain beliefs. 236 Members of ANZ were surveyed anonymously with AIMS2-SF and PBQ, with a 61% response rate; 144 responses were entered into the database. This study used α of 0.05 and a 1-β of 0.8 to detect for significant effect size estimated to ber=0.25. Analysis revealed a significant relationship between organic beliefs scale of PBQ and functioning of AIMS2-SF, with anrvalue of 0.32 andPvalue of 0.00008. No relationship was found between psychological beliefs scale of PBQ and AIMS2-SF. Organic pain beliefs are associated with poorer functioning. Psychological pain beliefs are not. Beliefs might have been modified by ANZ programmes. Clinicians should address organic pain beliefs early in consultation. Causal links between organic pain beliefs and functioning should be clarified.

Abstract:
This article analyses and compares Twitter activity for the niche sport of netball over the 2013 trans-Tasman ANZ Championship competition and the international Commonwealth Games event in 2014. Patterns within the Twitter data that were discovered through an analysis of the 2013 ANZ Championship season are considered in terms of the Commonwealth Games, and thus compared between a quasi-domestic and an international context. In particular, we highlight the extent to which niche sports such as netball attempt to capitalise on the opportunities provided by social media, and the challenges involved in coordinating event-specific hashtags, such as the #netball2014 hashtag promoted by the Commonwealth Games Federation.

"Are CT Scans a Satisfactory Substitute for the Follow-Up of RSA Migration Studies of Uncemented Cups? A Comparison of RSA Double Examinations and CT Datasets of 46 Total Hip Arthroplasties." Abstract:
As part of the 14-year follow-up of a prospectively randomized radiostereometry (RSA) study on uncemented cup fixation, two pairs of stereo radiographs and a CT scan of 46 hips were compared. Tantalum beads, inserted during the primary operation, were detected in the CT volume and the stereo radiographs and used to produce datasets of 3D coordinates. The limit of agreement between the combined CT and RSA datasets was calculated in the same way as the precision of the double RSA examination. The precision of RSA corresponding to the 99% confidence interval was 1.36°, 1.36°, and 0.60° forX-,Y-, andZ-rotation and 0.40, 0.17, and 0.37 mm forX-,Y-, andZ-translation. The limit of agreement between CT and RSA was 1.51°, 2.17°, and 1.05° for rotation and 0.59, 0.56, and 0.74 mm for translation. The differences between CT and RSA are close to the described normal 99% confidence interval for precision in RSA: 0.3° to 2° for rotation and 0.15 to 0.6 mm for translation. We conclude that measurements using CT and RSA are comparable and that CT can be used for migration studies for longitudinal evaluations of patients with RSA markers.

Abstract:
This case considers the Super Regional Strategy adopted by the Australian and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) under the leadership of CEO Mike Smith from October 2007 to early 2011. The Super Regional Strategy had the goal of deriving 20 per cent of ANZ’s profit from the Asian region by 2012 and between 25 and 30 per cent of profit by 2017. This strategy was a significant departure from the relative safety of the Australian banking sector and necessitated significant organizational changes. Not without risk or critics, ANZ is still in the formative stages of its strategy which will be a decade or more in the making. This article documents some of the changes to date.

Abstract:
We introduce some new generalization of fixed point theorems in complete metric spaces endowed withw-distances viaR-functions. Our results extend many of known fixed point theorems such as Reich type contraction, Geraghty contraction, Meir-Keeler contraction, andZ-contraction. In addition, the result and corollaries show that our approach has a constructive attitude and many known and unknown results can be constructed in such way.
