Abstract:
The use of the miniature controlled reception pattern antennas (CRPAs) in GNSS equipment is one of the trends in GPS, Baidow, GLONASS development. A miniaturized GPS antenna array technology reduces the size of the antenna elements and the array dimensions. Miniature CRPAs are in demand not only with mass consumer of GPS/GLONASS house-hold equipment, but with expert users of complex hardware as well, where high-tech multi-sensor miniature antenna systems (AC) can be applied. Such types of AC used for intelligent control of spatial selectivity are considered as antenna arrays. The advantages of miniature CRPAs with anti-jamming capability include possibility to be installed on vehicles where it used to be impossible due to their size. The negative effect of miniaturization is in degradation of some antennas characteristics, such as gain, suppression of the reverse lobe of radiation pattern (RP), a heterogeneity of RP. In miniature antennas, the resonator interinfluence increases, that leads to distortion of individual emitters RP and to the in-crease of the total RP lobe of the antenna array irregularity, as well as the width of RP lobe. Designers take special measures to reduce the interinfluence of the resonators. However, they are not fully described in the available literature. Therefore, the achieved performance of miniature CRPAs is in great interest. The final criterion (from a consumer point of view) is in effective functional of a device containing a miniature CRPA, the degradation of its parameters in compare with traditional CRPA equipment of expert users. The authors focus on property investigation of miniature CRPAs manufactured primarily by US industry. Specifications of two antennas and some expected details of the miniaturized antenna array technology are described along with the test results of their ability to perform the objective function jammer suppression. The article contains the results obtained from independent testing of electrodynamics parameters of miniature L1/L2 frequency CRPA and its design analysis. The experimental data of sensor interinfluence are outlined. The measures to reduce the sensor interinfluence are take into account. The efficiency of the miniature antenna is estimated in the process of interference suppression by means of computer simulation. The Monte-Carlo method is applied. For the sake of generality, two types of algorithm for interference suppression are used.

Abstract:
Lemongrass and cinnamon essential oils (LEO and CEO) are natural oils with high anti-oxidation capacity, pleasant flavour, and various health benefits. Their ability to preservevitamin C and flavour in jam have not been tested. In this study the performance of twoessential oils (EOs) in preserving vitamin C and improving jam flavour were investigated. The EOs were produced by hydro-steam distillation of fresh lemongrasses and cinnamonleaves using a Clevenger apparatus. Jam samples were dosed with various concentrationsof either single or mixed EOs and then stored at either room or refrigeration temperature.Samples were analysed for changes in vitamin C content and flavour, after every 10 daysfor 60 days. Vitamin C content was determined using 2,6 dichlorophenol indophenol visualtitration method, whereas sensory analysis was done by five semi trained panellists. It wasrevealed that both LEO and CEO have high potential to reduce loss of vitamin C andimpart better flavour in pineapple jam. The improved quality of the jam is due to anti-microbial and anti-oxidant effects of the essential oils as reported in literature. Mixing theEOs had synergistic effect which maximizes their potential to reduce vitamin C loss withlower dose than when used individually. Mixed EOs doses also enhanced the jam flavour.

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 27-30, 1997 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada
The relative anti-jam (AJ) performance of several diversity combiners are investigated. The modulation is 8-ary frequency-shift-keying (FSK), the demodulation process consists of energy detection of the eight frequency bins at each hop and the subsequent combining of detector outputs. Three combiners are considered : the linear combiner, where the detector outputs of each hop (corresponding to the same frequency bin) are summed without any processing; the self-normalized combiner, where the eight detector outputs of any particular hop are normalized so that they add to unity; and the max-normalized combiner, where the eight detector outputs of any hop are divided by the maximum value among those eight outputs. Results indicate that under worst-case tone jamming, the selfnormalized combiner performs the best, the max-normalized combiner second best, and the linear combiner performs the worst among the three.

Abstract:
The Skynet IV satellite will provide a medium for an integrated digital communications network. This will use the packet-oriented techniques employed in many modern communications systems. One important role of the system will be to provide jam-resistant services. The advent of sophisticated electronic jammers has required the application of complex error-correcting codes and data interleaving techniques. When the satellite link forms part of a wider network, these have profound effects upon the performance of the data link protocol. This project has examined some of these effects. Terrestrial data link control protocols were found to be very inefficient, and a number of enhancements to these protocols have been proposed. An implementation of the enhanced protocols has been tested within a simulation environment. The simulator was written in Simula, an object-oriented programming language. The performance of the link was observed to be highly dependent upon the error environment presented by the underlying physical layer service (in this case a frequency-hopped spread spectrum anti-jam satellite circuit). A model of the physical layer was combined with a link layer simulator. The model used an unusual technique to reduce the computational requirements of the simulator. The project revealed that a conventional anti-jam satellite circuit is unsuitable for carriage of packetised data services. However, a number of simple changes to the protocol and error control techniques may yield a significant increase in the performance, permitting use of the service even in the harsh error environments presented by hostile jammers. These results are to be used in the specification of future satellite modems.

Abstract:
The vulnerability of GPS to interference has been a major concern for both military and civilian applications, including small UAVs. Various signal processing techniques have been developed to improve the reliability of GPS receivers against different types of interference. Among these techniques, null steering is recognized as an effective method to protect GPS against both narrowband and broadband interference. However, due to the requirement of multiple antenna channels, it has mainly been implemented for large platform applications. This thesis examines the suitability of null steering techniques for small UAV applications and determines the practically achievable anti-jamming ability by implementing a two-element miniaturized adaptive antenna array. The adaptive antenna array is tested against a 2MHz broadband jamming signal under both laboratory testing conditions and a real jamming environment. Approximately 40dB anti-jamming range was achieved in the laboratory testing conditions. 38dB and 42dB were obtained in a real jamming environment with different antenna configuration. The likely performance limitations and possible further performance enhancements are also outlined in this thesis.

In a frequency - hopped multiple access (FHMA) satellite communication system, the hopping clocks of the ground users must be synchronous with that of the transponder. This FH clock synchronization process is usually divided into two parts, namely, the coarse clock synchronization and fine - time synchronization. This thesis deals exclusively with the fine - time synchronization process. Because of the long round - trip delay between the ground users and the satellite, correct estimate of the clock timing error is made aboard the satellite and sent via the downlink to the ground users to adjust their carrier hop transition times. After a few closed - loop iterations, a ground user's signal arriving at the satellite receiver will be synchronous with the hop transition time of the dehopper. To carry out such a fine - time synchronization, a ground user would send a probe signal for a number of hop periods. Several estimation algorithms using the probe signal had been proposed. Among them, the so - called method F2,. which is based on an early - late filter technique to process the probe reponse, was shown to render the best overall performance. Since the satellite FHMA system is designed for military applications, it is necessary to examine the anti - jam capability of such a system. Unfortunately, the F2 estimator is far from robust against jamming. We suggest practical solutions to save this estimator.Performance analysis of various modified estimators is presented. Numerical examples using either analytical results or computer simulations are provided to study the behaviors of the proposed new estimators under various jamming threats. It is shown that, with proper design, fine - time synchronization using probe signals can be accomplished even in the presence of jamming.

As we are entering the information age, the communication security has become a more important issue than ever. Military communication systems are faced with the electronic warfare (EW) threat in the digitized battlefield. Communication jamming is one of the most-encountered EW threat. It is well known that the spread spectrum communications have the anti-jam capability against intentional jamming. In this thesis, we first review some basics of the satellite communications. Examples for Ka band link budget analysis in the adverse environment are given. We propose three different DFT-based discrete acquisition schemes for the acquisition of the frequency-hopped signals. The acquisition process proceeds in both time and frequency domain. The proposed schemes make acquisition in just one period become possible. Mathematical expressions for the detection probability and false alarm probability using various acquisition schemes in the ideal AWGN channel (noise power perfectly known), the non-ideal AWGN channel(noise power is estimated), the non-ideal AWGN channel with broad-band noise jamming and partial-band noise jamming are derived. We also propose methods for the estimation and normalization of the noise and the noise-plus-jamming power in the jamming environment. The Debruijn sequence is adopted as the pseudo random hopping pattern generating sequence since it has a code length of power of 2. This allows an efficient computation for FFT algorithm. Finally, numerical results of the system performance for the aforementioned scenarios are presented. Besides, we also give numerical results using hopping patterns with a longer and a shorter period.

Abstract:
The repository of traditional, historical and cultural heritage of natural prophylactic medicine to treat different disease, disorder and its aliment is limitless and time-immemorial. As per the hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas (RA), Prophet Muhammed specifically mentioned about Sulayman (AS) recorded the name and use of many herbal medicinal remedies after construction of his castle (Ibn Asakri’s Mukhtasar Tareekh Dimashq 3.393), in addition to it, Prophet Muhammed use to recommend 65 different herbal prophylactic medicines which are scientifically proved to be highly effective against almost all types of ailments, among this repository of 65, while prescribing the NS Prophet Muhammed narrated “use this black seeds regularly it is having the properties to cure all disease (ailment) except death (An authentic hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (RA) and recorded by Bukhari, Muslim Ahmad Ibn Majah). This in-depth review specially articulated to elaborate phytochemical, pharmacological and mechanistic approach to bring out the properties of not only NS but in addition, it focusing on the important properties of EJ. Preliminarily to say NS claim to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hepato-protective, neuro-protective, gastro-protective and other useful activity are due to two important constituents Thymoquinone (TQ) and NS oil (NSO). TQ has interaction with human serum albumin. Seeds containing volatile oils mainly Melanthin showed toxicity at larger doses. Whereas, EJ simultaneously proved its effectiveness underutilized fruit, crops are nutritious bearing wide range of pharmaceuticals properties. EJ fruit is highly perishable and is mainly used for the diabetes patients, it is well known as a traditional medicinal plant having essential bioactive compounds which are present in all parts of the plant. The major bioactive compounds present in the EJ roots are phytosterols, flavonoids, carotenoids, myricetin, oxalic acid, gallic acid, citronellol, cyanidin diglucoside, hotrienol, and polyphenols as well as micronutrients having many health benefits. It is also a good source of anthocyanin and effective against numerous health problems and act as chemo-preventive, radioprotective and demonstrating antineoplastic properties. The ripe fruits are pleasant, astringent taste and are eaten either raw or processed into different products mainly vinegar, jam, jellies and squash. The jambolana seed contains alkaloid, jambosine, and glycoside jambolin or antimellin. To be concluded, NS and EJ both bearing similar therapeutic and pharmacological endorsement with different remarkable biological active molecule, which will become future reference to find out the natural way to cure untreatable disease and its disorder such as HIV-Aids, Cancer and recent outbreak, etc. according to narration made by Prophet Muhammed .
