Abstract:
In this paper the author analyzes five anthologies published in Yiddish, Hebrew and English. They represent individual and collective Jewish responses to the Holocaust both inside and outside the occupied war zone. When we read synoptically, each of them can be perceived as different national, transnational or communal Jewish response to the catastrophe. When we read dialogically, however, each anthology betrays a dissonant or discordant voice, and it is precisely the anomalous utterance that calls out the Holocaust’s screaming contradictions. By “listening anthologically,” combining a synoptic and dialogical reading, the Jewish anthological imagination in wartime becomes audible in all its tragic complexity

Abstract:
This paper explores the ideological function of translation in negotiating power relations among languages in multilingual Singapore. Based on an analysis of the discursive roles of translation in multilingual literary anthologies published between 1985 and 2008, the paper argues that the power relation between English and the mother tongue languages has shifted over the past two decades. Central to this ideological shift is translation, the underlying discursive mechanism in all multilingual publications in Singapore. It has been found that the potential of a language to be translated into, as opposed to its being translated out of, is directly proportional to its symbolic capital in a multilingual society. It has also been predicted that the future trend in multilingual literary translation in Singapore will tend towards a multi-directional approach whereby the four official languages engage one another multilaterally in a complex dynamic of translation relations.

Abstract:
This work considers the question of canon as a „place of power“ and the position of literature in relation to the ideological dictates of the so-called „social reality“. In this sense, it discusses the general social, cultural, and poetic patterns on which the canon is based, that is, the canons in the most representative anthologies of recent Bosnian-Herzegovinian poetry in the last thirty years. Understanding canonization as a model of ideological impact in the production of „literary facts“, the paper explores the attitude of anthologists towards the composite integrity of Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature and at least three poietic formulas involved in the struggle for „cultural meaning“ („poetry of re-ethnicization“, „poetry of false universalism“, „poetry of differences“). The literary canon, monolithic in socialist society and reduced by political censorship, was first nationalized and later, especially in the post-war period, decentralized and turned into alternative canons. Anthologies of Bosnian- Herzegovinian poetry distinctly follow the mentioned evolution, and in that way contribute to the stratification of the canon and the breaking of its „hegemony“.

Abstract:
The paper examines in detail the history of the creation of “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”, as well as the methods of its research in Western and Russian literary studies. The author proposes to combine a careful reading of this text with the notion of this poem as a spiritual autobiography of Eliot, which has various dimensions: from personal, proper poetic to esoteric. Based on the analysis of the biography of the young Eliot, the poet's relationship with J. Verdenal, the history of the poem, the drafts, the final text, the title of the poem, the epigraph, the poem's place in the poet's work, Eliot's statements about “Prufrock” the paper identifies the parameters of the symbolism of this work, which, playing on Eliot's complex relationship with the inexpressible (having an ambivalent nature), extends to its composition (the relationship of “I” and “you”; the paradoxical nature of the ending), the system of images and motifs (Prufrock as a theatrical person, the opposition of the male and female world), the special sense of reminiscences from Dante, Shakespeare, Goethe, Walter Pater, Oscar Wilde, the philosophy of creativity as a mystery (Prufrock as a poet, combination of eroticism and mysticism, the theme of sacred crime) and love (homoerotic theme), genre (elusiveness of genre, Faustian beginning in it), symbolism and esoterics (“Prufrock” as a Masonic text on initiation, on life as theatre). The author gave a special place to the concretization of ekphrases (Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Burne-Jones), the content of which confirms the thesis that the poem has a text in the text.

A tese aborda a relação entre os artistas Hélio Oiticica e Jack Smith em meio à efervescente atmosfera de Nova York nos 1970. Embora pouco conhecido no Brasil, Smith foi um importante personagem da cultura underground, sendo apontado como um dos precursores da arte de performance e do cinema expandido. Oiticica, durante os primeiros meses em que viveu em Nova York (1970-1978), relatou a amigos sua perplexidade ao entrar em contato com esse artista estadunidense, aproximando-se também de personagens e manifestações que faziam parte da sua esfera, como o ator Mario Montez e o Teatro do Ridículo. A partir de cartas do artista brasileiro e dos arquivos de Jack Smith, a pesquisa investiga de que maneira essa relação desenvolveu-se em termos pessoais e profissionais. No lugar de buscar pontos de semelhança e diferença, a tese procura friccionar a obra desses artistas a partir de seus buracos, faltas, gargalos e intervalos. Nesse sentido, o encontro entre eles será o ponto de partida para a discussão de questões dentro de suas próprias obras, como a relação que cada um estabeleceu com práticas arquivísticas, a ampliação do exercício de possibilidades de gênero e sexualidade, assim como de reflexões e projetos derivados de suas reivindicações contra cinemas convencionais. Além de trabalhos mais conhecidos de Oiticica, como Cosmococa - program in progress (1973-1974) e o artigo Mario Montez, tropicamp (1971), serão analisadas obras e documentos de Jack Smith, a exemplo de um roteiro inédito que o artista escreveu no Rio de Janeiro, em 1966, chamado Carnaval in Lobsterland.
This dissertation concerns the relationship between artists Hélio Oiticica and Jack Smith in the bustling atmosphere of 1970 s New York. Even though Smith is little know in Brazil, he was an important artist in New York s underground culture, often pointed as one of the forerunners of performance art and expanded cinema. During his first months in New York (1970-1978), Oiticica wrote to his friends about how perplexed he was at Smith and his work, comparing him to characters and manifestations that were part of his sphere, such as actor Mario Montez and the Teatro do Ridículo. Departing from the Brazilian artist s letters and Jack Smith s files, this research investigates how their relationship has developed in personal and professional terms. Rather than looking for points of similarity or difference, this dissertation aims to put the work of these artists in friction - from their holes, absences, apertures and gaps. In this sense, their meeting will be the starting point for the discussion both of questions in their own work and of the relationship each of them has established with archival practices, the expansion of exercises on the possibilities of gender and sexuality, as well as reflections and projects derived from their claims against conventional cinema. In addition to Oiticica s best known works, such as Cosmococa - program in progress (19730-1974) and the article Mario Montez, tropicamp (1971), this thesis will analyze some of Jack Smith`s works and documents, such as an unpublished script he wrote in Rio de Janeiro in 1966, called Carnaval in Lobsterland.

Objet de confusion et de dédain, la réputation de la digression depuis ses origines n’est pas au beau fixe. Pourtant, malgré ce rejet, les romanciers en font allègrement usage. Que la digression intervienne ponctuellement au gré du récit ou qu’elle ménage la disposition de l’œuvre, sa présence touche toutes les strates compositionnelles du roman, de manière à reconsidérer la question de la cohérence. Les plus petites unités digressives s’insèrent dans le récit à la manière d’interventions d’auteurs ou construisent des séquences qui mêlent au plaisir du détour, une fonction savante. De la même manière, à une échelle plus importante, des séquences plus longues alternent morceaux de bravoure et morceaux narratifs qui s’accumulent et s’intercalent dans l’œuvre, de façon à en différer le dénouement. La digression constitue donc un outil poétique stratégique, auquel recourent les romanciers afin d’agencer et de réunir les différentes parties du roman, sous l’égide d’une unité et cohérence nouvelle. Interpolés dans le récit cadre, ces morceaux stratégiques modifient profondément la structure du roman, jusqu’à en causer parfois l’inachèvement, qu’il soit voulu ou non par les auteurs. La variété des morceaux digressifs, nous conduit ainsi à reconsidérer la question de l’inachèvement, ouvrant la voie aux recompositions auctoriales et éditoriales. À ce titre, l’étude la composition des romans du premier XVIIe siècle (1600-1600) envisage la digression comme un dispositif privilégié, permettant de réunir sous une seule catégorie générique dite anthologique, tant les œuvres au format long, que celles au format plus court. À cette fin, notre corpus interroge les romans comiques et antiromans (Bergerac, Furetière, L’Hermite, Scarron, Sorel) ; les romans édifiants dévots, tragiques et sentimentaux (Camus, Nervèze, Rosset) ; puis les Longs romans, lesquels réunissent les modèles héroïco-galants et la pastorale (Desmarets, Gomberville, La Calprenède, Urfé, Scudéry) ; jusqu’aux continuations et romans abrégés postérieurs à 1660
An object of confusion and disdain, the reputation of the digression since its origins is not in good shape. However, despite this rejection, novelists happily use it. Whether the digression occurs occasionally throughout the story or whether it spares the layout of the work, its presence affects all the compositional layers of the novel, in such a way as to reconsider the question of coherence. The smallest digressive units are inserted into the story in the manner of authorial interventions or construct sequences which combine the pleasure of the detour with a scholarly function. In the same way, on a larger scale, longer sequences alternate pieces of bravery and narrative pieces which accumulate and are interspersed in the work, so as to postpone its outcome. Digression therefore constitutes a strategic poetic tool, which novelists use in order to arrange and bring together the different parts of the novel, under the aegis of a new unity and coherence.Interpolated into the frame story, these strategic pieces profoundly modify the structure of the novel, sometimes to the point of causing its incompleteness, whether intended or not by the authors. The variety of digressive pieces thus leads us to reconsider the question of incompleteness, opening the way to authorial and editorial recompositions. As such, the study of the composition of novels from the first 17th century (1600-1600) considers digression as a privileged device, making it possible to bring together under a single generic category called anthology, both works in long format and those in shorter. To this end, our corpus examines comic novels and anti-novels (Bergerac, Furetière, L'Hermite, Scarron, Sorel); edifying, devout, tragic and sentimental novels (Camus, Nervèze, Rosset); then the Long novels, which bring together the heroic-gallant models and the pastoral (Desmarets, Gomberville, La Calprenède, Urfé, Scudéry); up to the continuations and abridged novels after 1660

La presente dissertazione consiste in un lavoro di riedizione, traduzione e commento degli epigrammi attribuiti al poeta Teodorida di Siracusa, già  trattati criticamente da Wilhelm Seelbach (Die epigramme des Mnasalkes von Sikyon und des Theodoridas von Syrakus, Wiesbaden 1964), e da Andrew Sydenham Farrar Gow e Denys Lionel Page (The Greek Anthology: Hellenistic Epigrams, Cambridge 1965). I principali scopi della tesi rispetto alle precedenti edizioni sono i seguenti: 1) fornire al lettore un testo aggiornato degli epigrammi, corredato da un apparato critico nuovo, di tipo positivo; 2) accompagnare il testo di ogni epigramma da una traduzione di servizio per fornire un primo supporto alla sua esegesi; 3) elaborare un commento organico a tali testi per mostrare le caratteristiche peculiari della poetica di Teodorida e cercare di chiarire il rapporto del poeta con la produzione epigrammatica coeva, di natura letteraria e epigrafica; 4) aggiungere al commento dei singoli testi una sezione pi  generale dedicata all’analisi della lingua, dello stile e della tecnica versificatoria impiegati dal poeta. Il lavoro appare diviso in due sezioni: la prima consiste in un’introduzione generale su Teodorida riguardante la vita, le opere frammentarie, la produzione epigrammatica con analisi delle fonti, della lingua e della metrica; la seconda, invece, costituita dall’edizione critica degli epigrammi con traduzione e commento.

O objetivo deste estudo é analisar como a caracterização das personagens Zenófila, Heliodora e Misco, presentes nos epigramas de Meleagro de Gadara (séc. I a.C) serviu de base em diversas instâncias para o restante dos poemas do autor, atuando, portanto, no processo criativo e editorial do poeta. Parte deste estudo também é a tradução integral dos epigramas de Meleagro em português.
The aim of this study is to analyze how the characterization of Zenophila, Heliodora and Myiscus, present in the epigrams of Meleager of Gadara (I b.C.), functioned as the bases, in various ways, for the rest of the authors poems, acting, therefore, in the creation and editorial process followed by the poet. A complete translation of Meleagers epigrams in Portuguese is also provided.

Abstract:
This is a study of two compilations that originated in western Iran before the Mongol conquest. The research contributes to the ongoing discussion of the organization and preservation of knowledge in literate societies. The Muḥāḍarāt al-udabā’ wa-muḥāwarāt al-shuʿarā' wa'l-bulaghā' (Conversations among Men of Letters and Debates between Men of Poetry and Rhetoric) is a major anthology of literary Arabic, ascribed to the lexicographer and philosopher Abū al-Qāsim al-Rāghib al-Iṣfahānī (d. before 1050?). The Rāḥat al-ṣudūr wa-āyat al-surūr (Comfort of Hearts and Wonder of Delights) is a Persian miscellany about the Great Seljuq sultanate that Muḥammad al-Rāwandī (d. after 1209), an obscure calligrapher and theologian, compiled in the first decade of the thirteenth century in Hamadan to petition the Rum Seljuq sultan Kay Khusrau (ruled 1192-1197 and 1205-1211) in Konya. Both works are single-subject encyclopedias, designed as comprehensive textbooks. The circulation of manuscripts and imprints provides a diachronic perspective on the diffusion of knowledge. These textbooks circulated largely between Isfahan and Istanbul. Rāghib’s anthology is a propaedeutic work for a general audience, and is still in print in contemporary Middle Eastern societies. In contrast, Rāwandī’s miscellany is a personalized curriculum of Great Seljuq politics and courtly etiquette, and thus became obsolete in the sixteenth century. The biographical data on their authors offer the complementary synchronic perspective on the geography of knowledge in pre-Mongol Iran. The contents of the Muḥāḍarāt and the Rāḥat illustrate how their authors utilized well-established conventions of transmitting knowledge to compile an anthology of literary Arabic and a miscellany about the Great Seljuq sultanate. The arrangement of their contents is the most original aspect of these textbooks. On the macro-level, the sequence of parts, chapters, and sections follows a principle of associative order of topics and disciplines. The textbooks are witnesses to societal dependence on literacy. The oral transmission of knowledge had lost its monopoly, yet writing was less a replacement than a supplement to the oral tradition. The contents and structure of the Muḥāḍarāt and the Rāḥat document the continued prestige and use of oral practices within a literate society.

Abstract:
Abstract No figure in modern Hebrew literature has been more closely identified with the anthological enterprise than Micha Joseph Berdyczewski, later known as Bin-Gorion (1865-1921). In the course of his life, Berdyczewski, in addition to being a writer of fiction, a folklorist, essayist, critic, and scholar, compiled five multivolume anthologies and seems to have discovered in the anthological form a fitting embodiment of what he considered the nature of modem Jewish existence. Indeed, so central and fundamental a role did the compilation of anthologies play in his life that it would be no exaggeration to call Berdyczewski homo anthologicus. Micha Joseph Berdyczewski was born on July 27, 1865, in the village of Medzibezh in Podolia, a district in the Ukraine (Little Russia). Most of his childhood and youth were spent in Dubova, where his father served as the community’s rabbi. His mother died when he was eleven, and this traumatic experience shadowed Berdyczewski all his life, serving as the subject of several of his stories. In 1882, at the age of seventeen, the young ‘iluy (prodigy) married a rich man’s daughter, but after he was discovered reading maskilic texts, his father-in-law forced him to divorce his wife (whom Berdyczewski had grown to love). The trauma of this episode walater given poignant esthetic expression in his story “Me’ever lanahar” (Across the River, 1899).

Abstract:
Urban areas are very rich in terms of biodiversity. The study's goal in this context is to develop proposals to ensure the sustainability of biodiversity, particularly in urban areas, by emphasizing the significance of biological diversity, which is the most important component of ecological systems and biological processes. Furthermore, it is intended to be a resource to be used in future studies on biological diversity, particularly in the context of the importance and sustainability of urban biodiversity. Biodiversity is a whole of genes, species, ecosystems and ecological events in a region. Biodiversity, from large to small part, consists of three major main parts and a fourth part that connects these three parts. These are ecosystem diversity, species diversity, genetic diversity and diversity of ecological processes .In parallel with the developing technology since the nineteenth century, pressures on natural resources have increased as a result of human effects such as industrialization, population growth, urbanization, different types of pollution, forest fires, field openings, overgrazing, drying of wetlands, pollution caused by pesticides used in agriculture, excessive and unconscious use of resources. In terms of protecting and improving the quality of nature and the environment, ensuring the continuity of the natural structures of biological riches and population sizes is important for the protection and development of species and their habitats. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the data related to the biological entity and analyze it correctly. Urban areas are very complex. Cities, in addition to constituting the majority of the world's population, focus disproportionately on the global economy and decision-making power. Furthermore, despite covering only about 2% of the Earth's surface, urban areas consume 75% of its resources. Cities, however, can be a powerful catalyst for greener economies as a hub for social and political movements as well as centers of technological and corporate knowledge and innovation. Cities are arguably the most important elements in the development of the green economy due to their growing size and importance around the world. Cities' management may be more sensitive to pressing issues while receiving some relief from competing national interests (e.g., regional development agendas and sector lobbies) and responsibilities (such as national defense costs). Urban transition activities are becoming increasingly important in the implementation of global environmental policies such as climate change and biodiversity loss. Depending on their level of development and spatial organization, different cities' green economies will take on different identities. The protection of urban areas is important because of the protection and sustainability of the species' habitats. From this point of view, ecosystem, species and genetic diversity should be considered and evaluated together in the conservation of biodiversity in urban areas. To ensure the sustainability of biodiversity, in-situ and exsitu conservation approaches need to be applied together.
