Abstract:
This article aimed to analyze the management of intangible resources through soccer player transactions carried out by Brazilian and Portuguese clubs in the last five seasons, seeking to identify and analyze factors that have made Portuguese clubs references in the area, and how Brazilian clubs that generally act as player trainers can learn to do profitable business. To achieve this goal, the two Brazilian clubs that collected the most from player negotiations in each country in Brazil were analyzed: Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and São Paulo Futebol Clube, and in Portugal: Futebol Clube do Porto and Sport Lisboa Benfica. Due to the absence of scientific works and the contemporary nature of this business segment, the research was guided by the following questions: How do transactions work; How important is this revenue to the club's budget; Analysis of transactions carried out in recent years; Profile of club transactions and financial results ascertained by clubs. In the search for answers to these questions, the management of football clubs as a business, the football market, the way in which transactions take place were analyzed. The research demonstrated how strategic management is necessary for the effectiveness of club administration in terms of profitability.

Abstract:
This study mapped existing health-promotion provisions targeting adults in professional football clubs across England, the Netherlands, Norway, and Portugal, and explored motives behind the clubs’ adoption of the European Fans in Training (EuroFIT) programme. We surveyed top-tier football clubs in the four countries and interviewed representatives from football clubs and the clubs’ charitable foundation who delivered EuroFIT. The findings showed large between-country differences, with football clubs in England reporting far greater healthy lifestyle provision than other countries. Relatively few health-promotion programmes targeted adults, particularly in the Netherlands, Portugal, and Norway. Club representatives reported that the motives for adopting the EuroFIT programme often involved adhering to both the social objectives of the football club or club’s foundation and business-related objectives. They viewed the scientific evidence and evaluation underpinning EuroFIT as helpful in demonstrating the value and potential future impact of both the programme and the clubs’ wider corporate social responsibility provision.

Abstract: This study considers the football transfer market as a network and analyzes how characteristics of a football club’s player transfer network activities influence club performance. We use data on 23,220 unique football clubs from 189 countries from 1996 through 2016. Our results show that for sport performance the best strategy is to have well-established relations with a limited number of partner clubs, especially in the domestic league. However, transfer policy focused on international deals improves financial performance of football clubs. These findings provide club management with insights on optimal transfer policy with regard to the balance between sport and financial performance.

Abstract:
Paper objective is to analyze the performance of football clubs, comparing Brazilian and European club’s. From this analysis, it is expected investigate three hypotheses: (1) the analyzed Brazilian clubs have a worse financial performance compared to the performance of European clubs; (2) the chosen management model is crucial for football clubs achieve good performance and (3) football clubs that have high financial performance, also have high efficacy regarding the amount of wins in games played in 2014. To achieve this goal, a procedure was structured in four steps: (1) defining the clubs, (2) development of indicators and performance measures, (3) aggregation of measures for each club and (4) sorting and analysis of clubs. As a result of this analysis, it was found that the three hypotheses under discussion were false. It was also found that most Brazilian clubs have low effectiveness and low/medium financial performance. In contrast, most European clubs have high effectiveness and medium/high financial performance.

Abstract:
Purpose: Digital transformation has significant growth potential for countries and organizations, and this also applies to sports. One of the examples of digital transformation is the use of social media by football clubs. Their goal is to arouse interest and maintain relationships with as many fans as possible. The article aims to present the significance of social media in football clubs, as well as to identify factors that may affect the number of clubs’ followers. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents which football clubs are the most popular on social media today, and on the example of FC Barcelona, Juventus F.C., and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. shows how the number of followers has changed in last few years. What's more, on the example of the top Polish football league – Ekstraklasa, it was checked what factors affect the number of clubs’ followers. Findings: In the analysed clubs, the highest increase in followers was recorded among Instagram users. The study based on Ekstraklasa, showed that there is a significant correlation between sports results and the number of followers. This means that a better position in the league is associated with more followers on social media. The example of the Ekstraklasa also showed that the club's city population is strongly positively correlated with the number of its followers. Research and practical limitations/implications: The limitation of the study is that it focuses only on football and selected clubs. Accordingly, in some countries or sports may occur different dependencies. Originality/value: Nowadays, the number of social media followers is an indicator of a club’s popularity and commercial appeal, all of which is directly related to the finances of a club. Therefore, identifying the factors that may affect the number of football clubs’ followers seems to be important from the perspective of the whole professional sport.

Abstract:
Club soccer today is bigger than it has ever been. The passion people have for their respective clubs can almost certainly be paralleled to that of their national teams. As a sport soccer goes above and beyond the theatrics witnessed on the field. The mechanics involved behind the scenes more often than not determine a club’s success, or lack of it. It is an international sport that elicits passion and pride among supporters culminating into a multimillion dollar business. And like any other firm in a market a club aims to maximise profits at the lowest possible costs. An unavoidable result of the manner in which the soccer market operates is the rather evident disparity that exists amongst soccer clubs today. We have grown accustomed to viewing soccer in an environment tainted with disparity. Over the years, we have been desensitised to how bigger clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United seem to only grow bigger. While smaller clubs such as, Xerez and Portsmouth, have to contend with comparatively trivial issues pertaining to merely surviving.

Abstract:
The short-lived Véloce-club bordelais (1878-92) was one of France’s leading Belle époque cycling clubs. Although provincial, it was influential in developing cycle-sport nationally, including creating Bordeaux-Paris (1891), one of the founding races of cycling as a developing sport. Study of the internal life of the club shows how its social and sporting identity negotiated centrifugual and centripital forces within the institutional framework of associationism. Searching for the best organisational model for cycling sport and associativity in a period of rapid change in French sport and society, the club was refounded on a number of occasions but, despite many achievements, ultimately collapsed. As an early pioneer club, the Véloce-club bordelais (VCB) was partly a victim of its own success: having struggled to create a new ecosystem of cycling as sport and sociability, changing interests of Bordeaux’s social elite in new, motorised pursuits, or to cycle-touring rather than racing, removed the raison d’être of the club. The club’s demise subsequently created space in the sports-scape for new cycling clubs and other sports associations. Detailed analysis of club activities, internal organisation and management, membership and finances is enabled by its symbiotic relationship with the Véloce-Sport newspaper, which published and discussed much of the club’s sporting, social and administrative life. Close interpretation of the VCB’s brief but intense history shows how sporting sociability intersected with local government, politics and society and how the internal functioning of sports associations in France’s Belle époque demonstrates the significance of sports clubs as part of civil society.

Abstract:
The financial performance of football clubs has become an essential element to ensure the solvency and viability of the club over time. For this, both the theory and the practical and regulatory evidence show the need to study financial factors, as well as sports and corporate factors to analyze the possible flow of income and for good management of the club’s accounts, respectively. Through these factors, the present study analyzes the financial performance of European football clubs using neural networks as a methodology, where the popular multilayer perceptron and the novel quantum neural network are applied. The results show the financial performance of the club is determined by liquidity, leverage, and sporting performance. Additionally, the quantum network as the most accurate variant. These conclusions can be useful for football clubs and interest groups, as well as for regulatory bodies that try to make the best recommendations and conditions for the football industry.

Abstract:
This cross-sectional study analyzes the association between Saudi football clubs and the loyalty of their fanbase and evaluates how the fans are acting as consumers toward their football clubs. Data was collected through a questionnaire. The research was carried out on a sample of 2,317 participants. The findings show that more than half of participants have attended a football match in the Saudi football league whereas 23.7% preferred to watch their favorite team in the stadium. Furthermore, the loyalty of the fans can also be evaluated by the purchases of the club related products as the participants majority own their favorite club shirts where almost half of them have purchased another club’s products. The limitations of the study that it is focused on limited behaviors of the fans and further investigations can be achieved to include what are the factors preventing the fans from being loyal to their football clubs or why they are not attending to the stadiums although they have showed the intention to.

Abstract:
The grouping of non-professional or amateur sports clubs is a partial or total pooling of their resources. Despite that it has been centrally and generally evoked in scientific researches based on business companies, grouping only has been partially conducted in research studies in the sport field. Our study aims to remove those non-professional/amateur sports clubs from anonymity, expose them to the public eye and facilitate their understandings as well. To accomplish this goal, we used a multidisciplinary approach of sport organizations (including their sociology, management and economy). To understand the phenomenon of grouping non-professional sports clubs. In order to grasp that phenomenon, we need to inquire about the factors at the origin of the groupings, the implementation of such decisions and, finally to inquire on their consequences on the daily life of the sporting club. To answer to inquiries, we analyzed meticulously, the organizational challenges of these groupings, their methods and process, the strategies and logics of action of the main actors, and the consequences of these groupings in the daily life of the club, particularly, on the aspects of culture and identity, economic and sporting, and as regards to the governance within the meaning of Gérard Charreaux (1997). The data collected under an analytical method were of two types: those principals were based on observations and talks and those secondaries were based on newspaper cuttings and documents internal to the clubs and FAF. The principal data consisted of 10 formal talks of an average of 50 minutes each and a hundred abstract talks, conceived in a spirit of complementarity and stepping. The secondary data were collected from 25 numbers of the Le Progrès newspaper from 1999 to 2015, which comprised approximately 50 pages of newspaper cut on the groupings of clubs, the GA and DC reports, meetings of trainers, as well as the status and special regulations of clubs and FAF. All those data were analyzed according to the triptych: qualitative analysis of contents by theorization and anchored strategic analysis actor-theory of the contingency, according to respectively, Pierre Paillé-M. Crozier & E. Friedberg-Henry Mintzberg. Beyond the two principal methods: agreements and fusion. The groupings of athletics’ clubs presented in our research are built collectively and locally. They are more interested, unstable and institutionalized. Five large groups of contingent factors lead the club towards the grouping: objective and manpower of the club, modernization of the club and development of the practice, and the local sporting policy. In this context of grouping of clubs, the managerial latitude of the leader of club remains conditioned on several levels, including, the territorial collectivity and FAF. Our dissertation through the theoretical framework chosen, makes it possible to clarify not only the challenges of grouping athletics’ clubs, the club’s interactions of territorial athletics-FFA-communities, the governance of these clubs, but also, stands out as a new comparative framework non-professional sporting clubs

Abstract:
Organizations Sports Social Club calls maintains a management model that characterizes them, which is the management performed by volunteers and supported by professional managers. The literature points out that the organizational structure of sport organizations is peculiar, especially in football clubs, which remains the boundary between the volunteers managers representing the executive and legislative and professional managers who are controlling and perform financial planning and activities. However there are few studies concerning the Social and Sporting Clubs. The aim of this study was to identify, describe and compare aspects of the management process of Social and Sporting Club sports area and examines them in the light of theories and management models. The research was qualitative approach being conducted field study with six Social and Sporting clubs of São Paulo. To do so, they were built and applied two instruments: questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with the bodies of sport managers. The information obtained was analyzed comparatively between the entities. It was found that the teams use traditional administrative models with organizational designs. The planning of these organizations is strictly based on the annual budget, with no or a multi-annual strategic planning. Decision making has as its foundation the personal experience of the volunteer manager, based on the experience of the professional manager. Cleared technical decision-making were found. The most important decisions as the club\'s management maintains a matter of rite with responsibilities. Human resources are selected by professional manager with the endorsement of the volunteer manager keeping a plausible hiring line and is geared to meet the demands of the Club. We conclude that the studied clubs have few innovative features in their administrations, maintains a traditional organizational structure and decision-making processes in the sports area are strongly linked to financial planning

Abstract:
Contemporary high schools have seen a significant rise in student-led clubs, whether they are academic, sports, or special-interest related. In them, students are able to collaborate with other like-minded peers and develop their unique hobbies and interests. However, in many of these high schools and especially those of ours, we have observed a lack of motivation and participation associated with poor club organization and communication. Inspired by existing software utilized by these clubs and building upon their features, we have designed and implemented a user-club system intended to help a myriad of clubs in high schools and colleges to manage their club events and membership [4]. Two experiments were conducted to test the effectiveness of two different applications designed to help high school clubs manage their events and membership. For the first experiment, 10 participants tested a user-club system, and for the second experiment, another 10 participants tested an application. Both experiments showed positive results, with participants providing feedback on the applications' functionality and convenience. However, a few participants reported issues, indicating that refinement may be necessary for optimal usability. In the first experiment, most participants reported improvement in their club's participation and member interest, but a few reported little to no improvement, suggesting that the system may not be effective for all types of clubs. Further testing and refinement are necessary for both applications to determine their effectiveness for different types of clubs and user populations.

Abstract:
The worldwide football transfer market is analyzed as a directed complex network: the football clubs are the network nodes and the directed edges are weighted by the total amount of money transferred from a club to another. The Google matrix description allows to treat every club independently of their richness and allows to measure for a given club the efficiency of player sales and player acquisitions. The PageRank algorithm, developed initially for the World Wide Web, naturally characterizes the ability of a club to import players. The CheiRank algorithm, also developed to analyze large scale directed complex networks, characterizes the ability of a club to export players. The analysis in the two-dimensional PageRank-CheiRank plan permits to determine the transfer balance of the clubs in a more subtle manner than the traditional import-export scheme. We investigate the 2017-2018 mercato concerning 2296 clubs, 6698 player transfers, and 147 player nationalities. The transfer balance is determined globally for different types of player trades (defender, midfielder, forward, …) and for different national football leagues. Although, on average, the network transfer flows from and to clubs are balanced, the discrimination by player type draws a specific portrait of each football club.

Abstract:
This project explored a solution to help with club management [1]. Club management has been a complex task for many people [2]. The solution to this problem is to create a centralized management application that allows all management and communication to be done on it [3]. The application is made with FlutterFlow and google firestore. It consists of two main parts, the communication and the management. Possible challenges are the users’ experiences in features like chat and task management, but these will be improved in the future through updates. The application can be applied to all kinds of clubs like sport club or school clubs, providing communication and management for members. It is hoped that this application could provide users a convenient and effective way to organize their clubs

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract In a previous paper (Barpanda and Mantena, 1998), the dynamic response of three commercially available hockey sticks with wooden, aluminum and graphite shafts was characterized using a combined modal analysis and vibration response approach. The extension of this technique to golf clubs with steel and graphite shafts is reported here. Using an instrumented impact hammer, a complete modal survey is initially conducted on the golf clubs to study their dynamic behavior. A comparative study of the modal parameters (natural frequency, damping and mode shapes) of the golf clubs provides valuable information for design optimization. The contour and associated vector plots of the mode shapes are very useful for generating node (zero displacement) lines on the club-head surface. A two-accelerometer technique was then used to perform vibration response tests on the impact surface. Linear and angular vibration level maps were plotted for identifying ‘sweet spot regions’ on the impact surface. These tests yield quasi-quantitative information regarding the level of vibrations felt by a player due to simultaneous linear and angular motion of the shaft and club-head. The mapping also serves as an effective tool for determining the relative merits of steel and graphite shafted club heads based on their vibration performance. Results of modal analysis and vibration response tests indicate that the golf club with a graphite shaft had a larger sweet spot zone enclosing the area of maximum node line density compared to the club with a steel shaft. The combined strategy of using both modal analysis and vibration response measurements provides a better understanding of the dynamic response of golf clubs made with different materials.

Abstract:
Biomechanics courses often attract students from diverse academic backgrounds including a mix of engineers and scientists. A Journal Club, in which students read and discuss articles from scientific literature, is a collaborative learning activity that is accessible to students from these diverse scientific backgrounds. Journal Clubs originated as way to cost-share periodicals [1] and have evolved as educational tools. Journal Clubs in medical education [2–4] are cited for both increasing medical knowledge in 88% of medical residents [2] and bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. [1] In an extensive literature review, 80% of 101 studies reported that Journal Club discussions improved knowledge and critical appraisal skills. [5] Journal Club format is flexible and no strong preference in method has emerged in the literature. [2] The present work describes a structured Journal Club that has been implemented in a biomechanics course for three years and presents results from student surveys.

Abstract:
The first traces of field hockey were found in Egypt 4000 years ago, as evidenced by a relief found in a tomb in the village of Beni Hassan. It became an Olympic sport for men in 1908 and for women in 1980. On the initiative of the Belgrade Physical Education Board and several DIF students, the first Serbian field hockey club "Cukaricki" was founded in February 1949. In the same year, the "Elektricna centrala" in Subotica was formed. The first records of field hockey in Bulgaria date back to 1897. The game was demonstrated for the first time by Aleksandar Momchilov in 1914, who formed the first club "Atletik" in 1915. The archives of the Yugoslav, Serbian and Bulgarian field hockey associations were used to collect relevant data. Among the methods, content analysis was used. The most difficult period in Serbia is from 1991, when the championship of Yugoslavia stopped being played, until 2007, when the championship of Serbia began to be played. The heyday of field hockey in Bulgaria is in the period from 2000 to the present day, during that period 66 clubs were formed. The general statement indicates that changes in Serbia in all segments occur at the end of the 20th century when many clubs cease to operate , while a large number of clubs are formed in Bulgaria at the beginning of the 21st century. The overall record of success is on the side of the Bulgarian clubs in both men's and women's competition.

Abstract:
A strong aspect of civil society, football clubs are often a visible marker of identity and this can be especially so in regions with a distinct culture or language. In a follow-up blogpost to their piece on five football clubs in non-kin state settings, the authors expand to analyse five clubs from kin-state settings across Europe. Looking at the political landscape in which the clubs operate as well as the visible linguistic difference from the majority population, the blogpost offers a variety of examples ranging in their degrees of salience. The kin-state aspect brings in a third actor alongside the minority and majority population, with the extent to which the kin is actively involved being one of the differing variables identified. In addition, this blogpost also features extended conclusionary paragraphs which bring in the comparative dimension of kin-state/non-kin-state across the ten clubs analysed in the two blogposts.
