Abstract:
A. auritum, A. nigrescens, A. piligerum, A. stellatum y A. tubulosum.

Abstract:
We are engaged in the ongoing investigation into the chemical constituents of liverworts in our search for novel compounds and biologically active substances. In the present study, two new rosane diterpenoids were isolated from the Argentine liverwort Anastrophyllum species, together with known aromadendrane sesqui- and rosane diterpenoids. Two new ent-kaurene and 4 ent-kaurene diterpenoids were isolated from the Malaysian liverwort Jungermannia species. Their structures were determined using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and chemical transformation.

Abstract:
Váňa et al. (2013) elevated Anastrophyllum subgen. Schizophyllum (Schuster 1969: 739) to generic rank as Schizophyllum (R.M.Schust.) Váňa & L.Söderstr. (2013: 16), overlooking the genus Schizophyllum Nuttall (1841: 452; Asteraceae) and, thereby creating an illegitimate later homonym. This is corrected here by publication of the new genus Schizophyllopsis and the transfer of all species of Schizophyllum (R.M.Schust.) Váňa et al. to that genus. Despite the generic name itself being illegitimate, names published under Schizophyllum (R.M.Schust.) Váňa & L.Söderstr. are legitimate under ICN Art. 55.1 (see below).

Abstract:
Dead wood is a very important element of forest ecosystems. The reduction of dead wood in production forests has created major problems for several dead wood dependent species. This study was made to provide a better understanding of the factors that affect presence and coverage area of the two dead wood dependent species Anastrophyllum hellerianum and Dicranum flagellare. The coverage area of these species on logs was examined in relation to the factors: species of the log, diameter, length, degree of decomposition, number of logs close to the one examined, sun exposure, ground contact and soil moisture. The key finding of the study was that diameter/available area, degree of decomposition and sun exposure was the most important factors that affected the two species. The coverage area and the probability of presence of the species increased with increased log diameter and extent of decomposition, but decreased with sun exposure. Other findings were that A. hellerianum preferred logs of decomposition stage 5. The distribution of decayed wood differed greatly in the studied forests. In the primeval forest there were many logs, of many different diameters and decay stages. In the production forest there were only a few logs, none of larger diameters and most of them less decayed. As a conclusion the amount of dead wood in production forests seem too small for the two studied species to occur. Therefore, a larger amount of dead wood in production forests or sufficiently large areas of protected forests are needed to preserve these species.

Abstract:
Seasonal pattern and extent of asexual reproduction in liverwort species Lophozia ascendens, L. ventricosa and L. longiflora were studied in the Boubínský prales and Milešický prales old-growth forest reserves in the Šumava Mts., South Bohemia. Asexual reproduction was quantified as the number of 1{--}2 -celled gemmae produced per individual shoot. Numbers of gemmae per shoot among sampling months differed significantly as did the numbers of gemmae in samples among Lophozia ascendens, L. ventricosa and L. longiflora among sampling months. Germinability of gemmae was low in early spring, highest in August and September and slightly decreased in October. Spreading potential of gemmae was investigated in the epixylic hepatic Anastrophyllum hellerianum. Gemmae were trapped at different distances (0 {--} 10 m) and directions from the source colonies in two experiments: one was realized in the natural habitat within a forest and the other in an artificial set-up in the open habitat. Dispersal of gemmae showed slight distance dependence both in the natural and open habitats. Habitat requirements (e. g. decay degree, texture, bark cover, log diameter) of the L. ascendens and A. hellerianum were investigated in both reserves, 126 logs were found. Mostly tiny liverworts grew with L. ascendens and A. hellerianum. Both studied species occurred on logs with degree of decay 2 {--} 7 and degree of texture 2 {--} 6.
