Abstract:
The success of performance is not only from a historical financial aspect, but more than that, from non-financial factors that have a much greater contribution. The research objective is to analyze the environment, internal, and company performance. The method used in this research is a descriptive and associative approach with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used in this study used saturated sampling or often referred to as census and in this case only PT Ultimedia Group Saudara's employees could get 58 people using the saturated sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, including the coefficient of determination, multiple correlation coefficients, partial test (T test), and simultaneous test (F test). The results showed that the external environment has an effect on company performance. Internal control affects company performance. The simultaneous test results (F test) show that the external environment and control have an effect on company performance.

Abstract:
The stable operation of a high-speed rotating rotor-bearing system is dependent on the internal damping of its materials. In this study, the dynamic behaviours of a rotor-shaft system with internal damping composite materials under the action of a temperature field are analysed. The temperature field will increase the tangential force generated by the internal damping of the composite material. The tangential force will also increase with the rotor speed, which can destabilise the rotor-shaft system. To better understand the dynamic behaviours of the system, we introduced a finite element calculation model of a rotor-shaft system based on a 3D high-order element (Solid186) to study the turbocharger rotor-bearing system in a temperature field. The analysis was done according to the modal damping coefficient, stability limit speed, and unbalance response. The results show that accurate prediction of internal damping energy dissipation in a temperature field is crucial for accurate prediction of rotor dynamic performance. This is an important step to understand dynamic rotor stress and rotor dynamic design.

Abstract:
In this study, a simulation study was conducted for the loss of efficiency caused by the heat emitted by the LED chips. The temperature change of LED luminaire was analysed for three different scenarios using finite element method. Due to the increase in the internal temperature of the luminaire and due to the air effect inside the LED luminaires, failure of the LEDs has been tried to be prevented. For this purpose, a passive cooling method was proposed in the simulation environment. So, in high power LED luminaires, the high heat emitted by the LED chips is reduced to low heat by an air flow method. In this way, efficiency in LED outputs has been achieved.

Abstract:
The use of computational models in built environments comes from the need to deal with situations as close as possible to the reality and also to study functional spaces that could be able to provide, for example, thermal comfort. In this work we analyze some cases of indoor air circulation in built environments through a mixed stabilized finite element method, applied to the Navier-Stokes equations in velocity and pressure variables. The implemented numerical method ensures stability for the internal constraint imposed by the velocity field, and accommodates moderate to large advective effects. The obtained internal wind field allows the choice of wall shapes that increase or not the ventilation and can alter its distribution, allowing in this way a better adequacy of the built environment for the climate needs and its objectives.

Kobayashi, Shiro, Soo-Ik Oh, and Taylan Altan. "Metal-Forming Processes." In Metal Forming and the Finite-Element Method. Oxford University Press, 1989. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780195044027.003.0005.

Full text
Abstract:
In metal forming, an initially simple part—a billet or sheet blank, for example—is plastically deformed between tools (or dies) to obtain the desired final configuration. Thus, a simple part geometry is transformed into a complex one, in a process whereby the tools “store” the desired geometry and impart pressure on the deforming material through the tool-material interface. The physical phenomena constituting a forming operation are difficult to express with quantitative relationships. The metal flow, the friction at the tool-material interface, the heat generation and transfer during plastic flow, and the relationships between microstructure/properties and process conditions are difficult to predict and analyze. Often, in producing discrete parts, several forming operations (preforming) are required to transform the initial “simple” geometry into a “complex” geometry, without causing material failure or degrading material properties. Consequently, the most significant objective of any method of analysis is to assist the forming engineer in the design of forming and/or preforming sequences. For a given operation (preforming or finish-forming), such design essentially consists of (1) establishing the kinematic relationships (shape, velocities, strain-rates, strains) between the deformed and undeformed part, i.e., predicting metal flow; (2) establishing the limits of formability or producibility, i.e., determining whether it is possible to form the part without surface or internal defects; and (3) predicting the forces and stresses necessary to execute the forming operation so that tooling and equipment can be designed or selected. For the understanding and quantitative design and optimization of metal-forming operations it is useful (a) to consider a metal forming process as a system and (b) to classify these processes in a systematic way. A metal-forming system comprises all the input variables relating the billet or blank (geometry and material), the tooling (geometry and material), the conditions at the tool-material interface, the mechanics of plastic deformation, the equipment used, the characteristics of the final product, and finally the plant environment in which the process is being conducted. Such a system is illustrated in Fig. 2.1, using impression die forging as an example.

Abstract:
This chapter broadens the analysis back to whole region of Eurasia to analyze the determinants of policy adoption and implementation with original dataset, adapting variables for internal determinants and external pressure to the international policymaking environment. It examines the quantitative determinants of policy adoption and implementation across all fifteen counties in Eurasia in a similar time period as the case study analyses from 2003-2015 in a pooled time series. It presented a new and innovative Human Trafficking Policy Index which measures the scope of human trafficking policies in Eurasia and ranks it on a 15-point scale every year. The findings mirror the qualitative results and reveal that internal political conditions and monetary factors inside the country such as state commitment, policy entrepreneurs, bureaucracy, and state capacity determine how the countries adopted policy while policy entrepreneurs, bureaucracy, and police effectiveness influence policy implementation. The mixed method comparison demonstrates that state commitment and policy entrepreneurs had a positive influence on human trafficking policy adoption while bureaucratic impediments inhibited policy adoption. The results were less cohesive with policy implementation model but revealed the influence of internal determinants such as street-level bureaucrats, bureaucratic impediments, and conflicting policing results.

Abstract:
Good performance within a company is the result of correct interaction of business management with its internal and external environment. The recognition of internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats, takes place on the basis of a SWOT analysis. Many companies are conducting a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis as part of the strategic planning process to identify the organizations’ four factor groups before proceeding to the formulation of a corporate strategy. SWOT analysis is only the determination of the factors to evaluate for the future strategic decisions depending on the current situation of a company. Although the factors of each factor group are determined with this analysis, the importance of the factors is not taken into account. Therefore, the authors use a fuzzy Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method, Fuzzy Analytic Hierarch Process (FAHP), to determine both the importance of the SWOT main-factors and sub-factors of each main-factor in a fuzzy environment. The aim of the MCDM is to obtain the optimum choice that has the highest degree of satisfaction for all of the relevant attributes. FAHP is the fuzzy version of the classical AHP methodology. The main difference of the FAHP from its own classical method is to use the fuzzy linguistic variables in comparison evaluations. On the contrary, FAHP uses the linguistic variables that are fuzzy numbers in the comparison evaluations because human beings’ subjective judgments are often vague or imprecise. For this purpose, in this study FAHP is used with the SWOT analysis to expose the existing state in transportation department of a textile firm in Kayseri, Turkey. According to the results of the analysis, the most appropriate strategy to be selected for the numerical data has been obtained.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of theoretical and scientific research of the ways of application of basic theoretical and methodological concepts formed in the field of tolerance research by developers and followers of liberal philosophical direction through integration of these ideas into the dimensions of modern inclusive education. Describes and analyses the problems of formation and development of the phenomenon of tolerance in the paradigm of the liberal philosophical direction. The range of these studies is focused on current trends in tolerance in the context of development of the collective consciousness of a civil society. The attempt is made to make distinctions between the definitions of "tolerance" and "indulgence". The current tendencies of tolerance in the context of formation of the state system on democratic principles, based on the need for peaceful and legal resolution of conflicts, understanding and realization of civil liberties of individuals and various social groups, avoidance of discrimination and civil society development are studied and updated. The internal contradictory nature of tolerance is argued, through the following provisions: unlimited indulgence leads to the disappearance of indulgence; tolerant do not tolerate the intolerable, tolerance combines ideas and interests that contradict each other. Particular attention is paid to revealing of prospects for development of inclusion in the modern educational environment as one of the main components of formation of an active tolerant position in a society. The list of necessary competences which provide comfortable interaction of norm-typical children with children with possible educational needs is resulted. Some criteria for manifestation of an active tolerant attitude to inclusion in the general educational environment are proposed. Given the complexity and multifaceted nature of the phenomenon of tolerance, the main purpose of the study was to clarify the main ideas of the liberal philosophy of the concept of tolerance, as well as to identify the prospects for inclusion as a separate manifestation of tolerance in education. To achieve this goal the following tasks were implemented: specifying the essential parameters of the definition of "tolerance"; outlining the problem field of tolerance research in liberal philosophical discourse; study of vectors of integration of the philosophical continuum of tolerance to the measurement of the modern space of inclusive education. The objectivity of the theoretical analysis of the obtained results is taken into account and observed through the use of general scientific research methods, which are represented by the following system: historical and logical method - to study the formation of the concept of tolerance in liberal philosophical thought; system approach - to identify contradictions in the internal mechanisms of the phenomenon of tolerance and approach to understanding their interaction; comparison and systematization to make distinctions between the definitions of "tolerance" and "indulgence"; abstraction and generalization - to highlight the phenomenon of tolerance as an active position of the subjects of the pedagogical process in the terms of inclusion; analysis and synthesis - to study the specifics of tolerance in the context of an inclusive educational environment and the integration of indicators of "tolerance in action" in the framework of the worldview dimension of a modern society.

Abstract:
In the current economic conditions and increased competition, the ability of an entity to attract investments, i.e., its investment attractiveness, becomes important. It largely depends on the stability of the external and internal environment, the efficiency of economic activity, the priority of tasks, etc. The needs of modern society are growing rapidly; therefore, it is necessary to carry out the economic development of the country at the same time. Assessing the development of the investment market is the basis for a comprehensive approach to the analysis of the investment attractiveness of economic entities. The investment market is the area of investment objects in all its forms, taking into account the conditions of investment activity at certain stages of economic development of an enterprise, the economy, the region, and the country as a whole. The article considers the main indicators that characterize the economic development of Ukraine. The subject of the study is the main indicators that characterize the investment attractiveness of the country. The purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics of the level of investment attractiveness of Ukraine during 2010-2020 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research is based on scientific methods, among which it is expedient to distinguish: analysis and synthesis, comparison, idealization and abstraction, as well as systematization and generalization – when formulating conclusions as a result of the study. As a result, the dynamics of the gross domestic product, the index of investment attractiveness are analyzed. The change in the number of business entities in Ukraine over the past decade has shown a negative trend. It is found out that the structural sector in Ukraine is wholesale and retail trade. The dynamics of the volume of retail trade turnover of Ukraine during 2010-2020 and the index of the physical volume of retail trade turnover of Ukraine are determined. The method of assessing the level of investment attractiveness of the country is considered. The importance of the ability to create new competitive advantages and keep the existing ones under the influence of various factors has been proved. Ukraine's ranking positions in comparison with other countries of the world in terms of gross domestic product, index of business conditions, index of economic freedom, index of global competitiveness, world competitiveness and world digital competitiveness are also determined. The investment environment during 2020 was negatively assessed by entrepreneurs and investors. It turned out that 78% of surveyed company executives consider the current investment climate unfavorable, only 12% consider Ukraine a profitable market for new investors. At the same time, among the negative factors influencing the investment climate, there was chosen a weak judiciary, high levels of corruption and the shadow economy. As a result of the analysis of the dynamics of these indicators, negative trends were revealed due to the aggravation of economic crises, hostilities in the east, the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, destabilization of social and political life, COVID-19 pandemic. There is a deterioration of rating places on these indicators, which requires the immediate development of new regulations, the choice of a new strategy for attracting investment, as well as the effective use of levers of influence on the country's economy.

Abstract:
Pipes are widely deployed in the offshore environment especially in the petroleum industry where rigid and flexible pipes are used for the well drilling and hydrocarbon production. Whereas during drilling, a mixture of drilling mud, rock cuttings and sometimes gas flows through the drilling riser; during production mono or multiphase (comprising oil, water and gas) flow takes place within the production system. However up till now, most of the studies on offshore pipelines and risers have been focused on the pipe structure and its interaction with hydrodynamic forces and offshore platforms. In particular for numerical computation studies and reduced scale model experiments, the pipe is usually modeled as a tensioned beam and sometimes only the internal pressure is taken into account with other effects due to its internal flow being neglected. This paper presents a study on the influence of the internal flow on the pipe’s dynamics. The mechanical behavior of the pipe is modeled using the Consistent Mass and the Finite Element Method (FEM); the effect of an inviscid internal flow is also included. Numerical simulations in time domain have been carried out. Discussion about the experimental results and numerical simulation is also featured.

Abstract:
Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBC) applied to in-cylinder surfaces of a Low Temperature Combustion (LTC) engine provide opportunities for enhanced cycle efficiency via two mechanisms: (i) positive impact on thermodynamic cycle efficiency due to combustion/expansion heat loss reduction, and (ii) enhanced combustion efficiency. Heat released during combustion elevates TBC surface temperatures, directly impacting gas-wall heat transfer. Determining the magnitude and phasing of the associated TBC surface temperature swing is critical for correlating coating properties with the measured impact on combustion and efficiency. Although fast-response thermocouples provide a direct measurement of combustion chamber surface temperature in a metal engine, the temperature and heat flux profiles at the TBC-treated gas-wall boundary are difficult to measure directly. Thus, a technique is needed to process the signal measured at the sub-TBC sensor location and infer the corresponding TBC surface temperature profile. This task can be described as an Inverse Heat Conduction Problem (IHCP), and it cannot be solved using the conventional analytic/numeric techniques developed for ‘direct’ heat flux measurements. This paper proposes using an Inverse Heat Conduction solver based on the Sequential Function Specification Method (SFSM) to estimate heat flux and temperature profiles at the wall-gas boundary from measured sub-TBC temperature. The inverse solver is validated ex situ under HCCI like thermal conditions in a custom fabricated radiation chamber where fast-response thermocouples are exposed to a known heat pulse in a controlled environment. The analysis is extended in situ, to evaluate surface conditions in a single-cylinder, gasoline-fueled, HCCI engine. The resulting SFSM-based inverse analysis provides crank angle resolved TBC surface temperature profiles over a host of operational conditions. Such metrics may be correlated with TBC thermophysical properties to determine the impact(s) of material selection on engine performance, emissions, heat transfer, and efficiencies. These efforts will also guide next-generation TBC design.

Abstract:
Screw spikes, also known as coach screws, are an advanced alternative to common cut spikes for track fastening. Despite their ability to secure tie plates with a clamp load and utilization of high strength steels, they are still susceptible to bending fatigue failure from lateral wheel loads. A novel method of measuring these bending loads on screw spikes was developed and implemented to characterize the load environment of the screw spikes. Results indicated that measured peak bending loads under lateral wheel loads reached as high as 10,000 lbs for individual spikes, while others carried no load whatsoever. A finite element model was developed to determine the tensile stress fields created by the measured bending loads. A good correlation was found between the FEA model predicted point of highest stress and the location of fracture. Through the testing and analysis it was determined that lateral wheel loads are not distributed evenly among the four screw spikes of a single tie plate. Instead, it was found that one spike carried nearly no load while the spike opposite of it carried more load. Using the finite element analysis it was determined that the spike exposed to the higher loading was subjected to tensile stresses above its endurance limit, which would eventually lead to a bending fatigue failure.

Abstract:
Abstract Cell aware diagnosis identifies defects within the standard cell as opposed to traditional layout aware diagnosis that identifies the failing standard cell or the area between two standard cells. In a mature technology dominated by random defects, cell aware results pinpoint the cell internal layer drastically reducing the turnaround time for failure analysis. This paper describes a method to enable cell aware diagnosis in a foundry environment, perform a volume diagnosis analysis with RCAD (fail mode pareto) and drive failure analysis with a quick turnaround time for a 14nm customer chip.

Abstract:
The manufacturers are competing against each other based on their development ability. A manufacturer who wants to do better than others must emphasize its ability of product development. The resources that product development relies on are more distributed than ever along with the varying of the global design environment. So more and more resources outside of enterprises are needed during the product design process. The platform supporting the product modern design under the circumstance of distributed resources will meet the requirement of the enterprise’s product design and development under such conditions. The platform will also simplify the implementation on the integral of the IT support system for design resources outside of enterprises. In this paper the characteristics and supporting technologies of product design platform, which supporting the distributed design resource circumstance and centering on the enterprise, are studied. The building method of the platform is presented and a prototype of the product design platform is developed. Three subsystems are included in the platform. They are the product requirements analysis system, the product design planning system and the knowledge management system. Many design tasks can be supported on the platform, such as product requirement analysis, concept design, detail design, experiment, and maintenance knowledge acquirement. The distributing, implementing, tracking and managing of product lifecycle tasks can also be supported on the platform. The distributed design resources could be sealed as application components to provide design services. Design work flow model and knowledge flow model are built and controlled through the FIPER software. The design knowledge is managed based on the ontology theory. The virtual prototype of a complex product can be built and run more easily with the design platform. The process of building a virtual prototype could be described simply as following. Firstly the distributed models are sealed as application components. Then the components are published in the FIPER environment. Finally, the virtual prototype is built in the form of design work flow model in which the distributed components are integrated. To simulate the coupling of multi-discipline behaviors in a complex product design, the coupling formula is proposed to express the relations of different discipline behaviors. Based on the coupling formula, the coupling simulation can be run on the platform. Finally, a lifecycle performance prototype of an internal combustion engine is developed through the platform to verify the platform’s functions.

In ASME 2018 Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/pvp2018-84036.

Abstract:
Internal valve leakage in a natural gas pipeline not only brings huge economic losses to the petroleum enterprises, but also causes immeasurable environmental pollution. Therefore, the diagnosis of internal valve leakage and the prediction of leakage rates are the basis to ensure the safe operation of natural gas pipeline. In this paper, based on acoustic emission detection system, the internal valve leakage signals were collected, which were analyzed and processed to diagnose the internal valve leakage and predict the leakage rates. Due to the complex work environment and serious noise interference, the collected acoustic emission signals contain a large amount of environmental noise. Therefore, singular spectrum analysis was proposed to reduce the environmental noise in acoustic emission signals. Radial basis function neural network was used to predict the leakage rates. Experimental results demonstrate that pure internal leakage source signals can be obtained via singular spectrum analysis. The prediction accuracy of leakage rates based on the characteristic parameters of pure AE signals is better than the accuracy without signals denoising. Therefore, singular spectrum analysis is an effective denoising method for acoustic emission signals, which can improve the prediction accuracy of internal valve leakage rate.

Abstract:
Austenitic stainless steels are used extensively as structural materials in the internal components of reactor pressure vessels. However, high neutron doses lead to a significant reduction in the fracture resistance of these steels in water environment. Irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC) of internals has been observed in pressurized water reactors (PWRs). In the present work the IASCC model of the irradiated austenitic steels in PWR water has been developed. On the basis of analysis of available experimental data IASCC mechanism is proposed. Based on this mechanism, the dependence of fracture stress under IASCC on neutron dose is derived. For its construction the following assumptions were made. 1. Creep rate due to grain boundary sliding does not depend on neutron dose. 2. Fracture strain due to grain boundary sliding decreases when neutron dose increases. 3. There is an apparent stress threshold below which IASCC initiation does not occur in PWR environment. Life prediction analysis for IASCC is performed on the basis of linear rule of damage accumulation.

In ASME Turbo Expo 2017: Turbomachinery Technical Conference and Exposition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/gt2017-63509.

Abstract:
We present an optimization platform for turbomachineries with complex mesh configuration in a parallel computation environment. A continuous adjoint solver for 3-D viscous internal flow is coded under the same parallel framework as the flow solver. To meet the various permitted extents of reshaping on blade surface and cut down the computation cost in grid perturbation, a localized two-level mesh deformation method is developed based on Gaussian radial basis function (RBF). This method works efficiently for both the O mesh surrounding the blade and the O-H mesh blocks inside tip gap. In optimization of the transonic NASA Rotor 67 for higher adiabatic efficiency with a mass flow rate constraint, an adjoint sensitivity analysis is conducted. The relations between the design sensitive regions and physical phenomena in internal flow are discussed. Flow fields before and after adjoint optimization are investigated, including shock system, tip leakage flow and flow separation.

Abstract:
Abstract It was already demonstrated, that the method of Lock-in Thermography (LIT) enables 3D localization of thermal active defects, e.g. electrical shorts and resistive opens, on die level and within fully packaged single and multichip devices [1,2]. The depth of a defect can be derived from phase shift measurements of the defective compared to a reference device For a general approach of this method, thermal modeling is used and verified by experimental data to investigate the internal heat propagation under periodic stimulation in correlation to the LIT measuring process. [3]. A basic requirement for the successful application of the method is a precise and reproducible measurement of both the thermal material properties of each material layer and the phase shift between the internal heat excitation and thermal response measured by LIT. Significant influences from the material and measurement setup to the detected phase shift have to be identified and taken into account. However, to identify and distinguish the relevant influences measurements with defined internal heat sources are necessary which are presented in this paper. First, the relationship between geometrical thickness of a material layer and the resulting thermal parameters for both homogeneous and heterogeneous materials are measured and discussed. A new measurement setup generating a defined point heat source will be presented to calibrate the LIT system for quantitative phase shift measurements and to determine the phase shift to thickness parameters of single material layers. In addition the variation of the phase shift caused by the defect geometry and the defect environment will be investigated. Finally, a case study is presented comparing the experimental results to the obtained results from a real stacked die device.

Abstract:
Violent offenders cause serious harm to their victims and affect the general well-being of the society. Many awareness and rehabilitation campaigns are introduced at the moment in Latvia that increases the necessity for adapted valid instruments in the native languages of the offenders. The aim of the research was to conduct a preliminary adaptation of Criminal Attitudes to Violence Scale (CAVS) in Latvian and Russian. CAVS has been designed to measure non-sexual physical violence of violent male offenders. Two groups (“Latvians” N=200 and “Russians” N=200) and four sub-groups of male offenders and non-offenders were formed. The translation of the scale in Latvian and Russian was organized separately and completed by back-translation method. Evaluation by both experts and a sample of target population was provided with the final Russian and Latvian versions of CAVS. Internal consistency of the items of the scale proved to be very good for all four sub-groups. Item analysis showed that both (Latvian and Russian) adapted CAVS versions work the best with the offender samples. There were three-factor structure reviled for both Latvian and Russian CAVS. The preliminary adaptation process has been completed and the further standardization process is intended.
