Abstract:
Cet article propose une analyse de la situation économique de plusieurs filières animales (lait de vache, viande bovine, viande porcine, viande de volailles et secteur équin) en France, deux années après le début de la pandémie de Covid-19. En partant des dernières données statistiques disponibles sur la période 2020 à 2021 et tout en tenant compte des trajectoires historiques, il cherche à mettre en évidence en quoi cette crise a eu des implications sur la production, les prix, la consommation, les échanges extérieurs et, dans le cas du secteur équin, les différentes activités (paris hippiques, centres équestres…). La production de biens agricoles a été globalement peu impactée par la crise sanitaire car les agriculteurs ont continué à produire, en dépit parfois de certaines difficultés, telles que le manque de main d’œuvre, les pertes temporaires de débouchés, etc. Face à une modification importante de la structure de la demande (augmentation des produits achetés par les ménages au détriment de ceux privilégiés dans la restauration hors domicile), aux mesures soudaines imposées par l’État et aux difficultés parfois rencontrées pour maintenir les effectifs de salariés, les acteurs de la transformation ont été capables de s’adapter rapidement pour permettre de fournir aux consommateurs les biens demandés. Les flux d’échanges ont, eux aussi, été perturbés en 2020, avant de repartir à la hausse en 2021, selon des tendances finalement assez conformes à celles précédant la crise. Sous l’influence, d’une part, de la hausse du prix de l’énergie (avant même la guerre en Ukraine qui a débuté le 24 février 2022) et, d’autre part, de la fluctuation des importations de la Chine sur les marchés mondiaux de produits animaux, les prix à la production ont augmenté fin 2021 et début 2022, mais cette hausse est contrebalancée par une forte augmentation des coûts de production. Dans le secteur équin, les pertes de chiffre d’affaires ont été temporairement importantes en raison de l’interaction de ce secteur avec le public. Après le choc de 2020, et moyennant une adaptation des acteurs de la filière, les activités reprennent progressivement.

Abstract:
La complexité croissante des cyberattaques, caractérisée par une diversification des techniques d'attaque, une expansion des surfaces d'attaque et une interconnexion croissante d'applications avec Internet, rend impérative la gestion du trafic réseau en milieu professionnel. Les entreprises de tous types collectent et analysent les flux réseau et les journaux de logs pour assurer la sécurité des données échangées et prévenir la compromission des systèmes d'information. Cependant, les techniques de collecte et de traitement des données du trafic réseau varient d'un jeu de données à l'autre, et les approches statiques de détection d'attaque présentent des limites d'efficacité et précision, de temps d'exécution et de scalabilité. Cette thèse propose des approches dynamiques de détection de cyberattaques liées au trafic réseau, en utilisant une ingénierie d'attributs basée sur les différentes phases de communication d'un flux réseau, couplée aux réseaux de neurones à convolution (1D-CNN) et leur feature detector. Cette double extraction permet ainsi une meilleure classification des flux réseau, une réduction du nombre d'attributs et des temps d'exécution des modèles donc une détection efficace des attaques. Les entreprises sont également confrontées à des cybermenaces qui évoluent constamment, et les attaques "zero-day", exploitant des vulnérabilités encore inconnues, deviennent de plus en plus fréquentes. La détection de ces attaques zero-day implique une veille technologique constante et une analyse minutieuse, mais coûteuse en temps, de l'exploitation de ces failles. Les solutions proposées garantissent pour la plupart la détection de certaines techniques d'attaque. Ainsi, nous proposons un framework de détection de ces attaques qui traite toute la chaîne d'attaque, de la phase de collecte des données à l'identification de tout type de zero-day, même dans un environnement en constante évolution. Enfin, face à l'obsolescence des jeux de données et techniques de génération de données existants pour la détection d'intrusion et à la nature figée, non évolutive, et non exhaustive des scénarios d'attaques récents, l'étude d'un générateur de données de synthèse adapté tout en garantissant la confidentialité des données est abordée. Les solutions proposées dans cette thèse optimisent la détection des techniques d'attaque connues et zero-day sur les flux réseau, améliorent la précision des modèles, tout en garantissant la confidentialité et la haute disponibilité des données et modèles avec une attention particulière sur l'applicabilité des solutions dans un réseau d'entreprise
The increasing complexity of cyberattacks, characterized by a diversification of attack techniques, an expansion of attack surfaces, and growing interconnectivity of applications with the Internet, makes network traffic management in a professional environment imperative. Companies of all types collect and analyze network flows and logs to ensure the security of exchanged data and prevent the compromise of information systems. However, techniques for collecting and processing network traffic data vary from one dataset to another, and static attack detection approaches have limitations in terms of efficiency and precision, execution time, and scalability. This thesis proposes dynamic approaches for detecting cyberattacks related to network traffic, using feature engineering based on the different communication phases of a network flow, coupled with convolutional neural networks (1D-CNN) and their feature detector. This double extraction allows for better classification of network flows, a reduction in the number of attributes and model execution times, and thus effective attack detection. Companies also face constantly evolving cyber threats, and "zero-day" attacks that exploit previously unknown vulnerabilities are becoming increasingly frequent. Detecting these zero-day attacks requires constant technological monitoring and thorough but time-consuming analysis of the exploitation of these vulnerabilities. The proposed solutions guarantee the detection of certain attack techniques. Therefore, we propose a detection framework for these attacks that covers the entire attack chain, from the data collection phase to the identification of any type of zero-day, even in a constantly evolving environment. Finally, given the obsolescence of existing datasets and data generation techniques for intrusion detection, and the fixed, non-evolving, and non-exhaustive nature of recent attack scenarios, the study of an adapted synthetic data generator while ensuring data confidentiality is addressed. The solutions proposed in this thesis optimize the detection of known and zero-day attack techniques on network flows, improve the accuracy of models, while ensuring the confidentiality and high availability of data and models, with particular attention to the applicability of the solutions in a company network

Depuis l'avènement de l'IoT (Internet of Things), nous assistons à une augmentation sans précédent du volume des données générées par des capteurs. Pour l'imputation des données manquantes d'un capteur f, nous proposons le modèle ISTM (Incremental Space-Time Model), qui utilise la régression linéaire multiple incrémentale adaptée aux données en flux non-stationnaires. ISTM met à jour son modèle en sélectionnant : 1) les données des capteurs voisins géographiquement du capteur f, et 2) les données les plus récentes retournées par f. Pour mesurer la confiance, nous proposons un modèle générique de prédiction DTOM (Data Trustworthiness Online Model) qui s'appuie sur des méthodes ensemblistes de régression en ligne comme AddExp et BNNRW . DTOM permet de prédire des valeurs de confiance en temps réel et comporte trois phases : 1) une phase d'initialisation du modèle, 2) une phase d'estimation du score de confiance, et 3) une phase de mise à jour heuristique du régresseur. Enfin, nous nous intéressons à la prédiction dans une STS avec des sorties multiples en présence de déséquilibre, c'est à dire lorsqu'il y a plus d'instances dans un intervalle de valeurs que dans un autre. Nous proposons MORSTS, une méthode de régression ensembliste en ligne, avec les caractéristiques suivantes : 1) les sous-modèles sont à sorties multiples, 2) l'utilisation de la stratégie sensible aux coûts c'est à dire que l'instance incorrectement prédite a un poids plus élevé, et 3) le contrôle du sur-apprentissage des sous-modèles naissants par la méthode de validation croisée k-fold. Des expérimentations avec des données réelles ont été effectuées et comparées avec des techniques connues
Since the advent of the IoT (Internet of Things), we have witnessed an unprecedented growth in the amount of data generated by sensors. To exploit this data, we first need to model it, and then we need to develop analytical algorithms to process it. For the imputation of missing data from a sensor f, we propose ISTM (Incremental Space-Time Model), an incremental multiple linear regression model adapted to non-stationary data streams. ISTM updates its model by selecting: 1) data from sensors located in the neighborhood of f, and 2) the near-past most recent data gathered from f. To evaluate data trustworthiness, we propose DTOM (Data Trustworthiness Online Model), a prediction model that relies on online regression ensemble methods such as AddExp (Additive Expert) and BNNRW (Bagging NNRW) for assigning a trust score in real time. DTOM consists: 1) an initialization phase, 2) an estimation phase, and 3) a heuristic update phase. Finally, we are interested predicting multiple outputs STS in presence of imbalanced data, i.e. when there are more instances in one value interval than in another. We propose MORSTS, an online regression ensemble method, with specific features: 1) the sub-models are multiple output, 2) adoption of a cost sensitive strategy i.e. the incorrectly predicted instance has a higher weight, and 3) management of over-fitting by means of k-fold cross-validation. Experimentation with with real data has been conducted and the results were compared with reknown techniques

Les systèmes embarqués complexes (avions, satellites, drones...) contiennent de plus en plus de calculateurs. Désormais ce sont des dizaines voire des centaines de calculateurs qui communiquent à travers un réseau partagé. Une fonction est réalisée par la collaboration d'un ensemble de calculateurs qui s'échangent un nombre croissant d'informations. Dans un contexte de temps réel embarqué, il faut non seulement garantir que ces informations échangées sont correctes mais il faut aussi garantir qu'elles vérifient leurs contraintes temporelles. Du point de vue du réseau cela signifie qu'une information doit être échangée en respectant les délais qui lui sont imposés. Ceci implique de pouvoir borner le temps de traversée du réseau de chaque message afin de vérifier qu'il arrive dans les temps. Or les systèmes embarqués étant de plus en plus complexes et le nombre d'informations échangées étant en constante augmentation, cette borne est de plus en plus difficile à calculer. De plus il est important que cette borne soit le moins pessimiste possible afin d'éviter que le système soit surdimensionné. L'objectif de ce travail est de mettre en place un modèle capable de calculer ces bornes.Afin d'y parvenir nous nous sommes basés sur la méthode d'analyse du Calcul Réseau.Ce travail s'est en particulier attardé sur la modélisation des interactions qui existent entre les messages synchrones et les messages asynchrones. Les modèles présentés dans ce manuscrit prennent en compte les dates d'émission sur le réseau des messages synchrones lors du calcul des bornes supérieures de temps de traversée des messages asynchrones.Les principales contributions apportées par ce manuscrit sont :1. la présentation d'une nouvelle façon d'envisager l'utilisation des dates d'émission sur le bus CAN : la synchronisation faible.Ainsi que la modélisation complète d'un tel système et enfin l'évaluation du gain apporté par cette solution.2. une modélisation complète du réseau TTEthernet permettant d'évaluer finement l'impact des flux synchrones sur le tempsde traversée des flux asynchrones.3. une présentation de l'utilisation de la synchronisation dans le réseau TSN ainsi qu'un modèlecomplet permettant d'analyser cette nouvelle technologie
Complex embedded systems (planes, satellites, drones ...) contain more and more calculators. From now on, these are tens or even hundreds of calculators that communicate through a shared network. A function is achieved by the collaboration of a set of devices that exchange a growing number of information. In an embedded real-time context, it must be ensured that these informations exchanged are correct but it must also be ensured that they verify their temporal constraints. From the network point of view, this means that informations must be exchanged respecting their deadlines. This implies being able to upper bound the traversal time of the network of each message in order to verify that it arrives in time. However, as embedded systems are more and more complex and as the amount of information exchanged is constantly increasing, this bound is increasingly difficult to compute. Furthermore, it is important that this upper bound to be the least pessimistic possible to avoid an oversized system.The goal of this work is to develop new methods of analysis in order to be able to compute these bounds.In order to achieve this, we used the Network Calculus method of analysis.This work focuses on the modeling of interactions between synchronous messages and asynchronous messages.The models presented in this work take into account the transmission dates on the network of synchronous messageswhen calculating the upper bounds of traversal time of the asynchronous messages.The main contributions are:1. the presentation of a new way of considering the use of the dates of emission on the CAN bus: the weak synchronization.As well as the complete modeling of such a system and finally the evaluation of the gain provided by this solution.2. a complete modeling of the TTEthernet network allowing to evaluate the impact of the synchronous flows on the traversal time of the asynchronous flows.3. a presentation of the use of synchronization in the TSN network and a complete model for analyzing this new technology

Abstract:
De nos jours, dans des domaines tels que la sécurité et la santé, une forte demande consiste à pouvoir analyser le comportement des personnes en s'appuyant notamment sur l'analyse faciale. Dans cette thèse, nous explorons de nouvelles approches à destination de systèmes d’acquisition peu contraints. Plus spécifiquement, nous nous intéressons à l'analyse des expressions faciales en présence de variation d'intensité et de variations de pose du visage. Notre première contribution s'intéresse à la caractérisation précise des variations d'intensité des expressions faciales. Nous proposons un descripteur innovant appelé LMP qui s'appuie sur les propriétés physiques déformables du visage afin de conserver uniquement les directions principales du mouvement facial induit par les expressions. La particularité principale de notre travail est de pouvoir caractériser à la fois les micro et les macro expressions, en utilisant le même système d'analyse. Notre deuxième contribution concerne la prise en compte des variations de pose. Souvent, une étape de normalisation est employée afin d'obtenir une invariance aux transformations géométriques. Cependant, ces méthodes sont utilisées sans connaître leur impact sur les expressions faciales. Pour cela, nous proposons un système d'acquisition innovant appelé SNaP-2DFe. Ce système permet de capturer simultanément un visage dans un plan fixe et dans un plan mobile. Grâce à cela, nous fournissons une connaissance du visage à reconstruire malgré les occultations induites par les rotations de la tête. Nous montrons que les récentes méthodes de normalisation ne sont pas parfaitement adaptées pour l'analyse des expressions faciales
Facial expression recognition has attracted great interest over the past decade in wide application areas, such as human behavior analysis, e-health and marketing. In this thesis we explore a new approach to step forward towards in-the-wild expression recognition. Special attention has been paid to encode respectively small/large facial expression amplitudes, and to analyze facial expressions in presence of varying head pose. The first challenge addressed concerns varying facial expression amplitudes. We propose an innovative motion descriptor called LMP. This descriptor takes into account mechanical facial skin deformation properties. When extracting motion information from the face, the unified approach deals with inconsistencies and noise, caused by face characteristics. The main originality of our approach is a unified approach for both micro and macro expression recognition, with the same facial recognition framework. The second challenge addressed concerns important head pose variations. In facial expression analysis, the face registration step must ensure that minimal deformation appears. Registration techniques must be used with care in presence of unconstrained head pose as facial texture transformations apply. Hence, it is valuable to estimate the impact of alignment-related induced noise on the global recognition performance. For this, we propose a new database, called SNaP-2DFe, allowing to study the impact of head pose and intra-facial occlusions on expression recognition approaches. We prove that the usage of face registration approach does not seem adequate for preserving the features encoding facial expression deformations

Abstract:
La gestion du trafic aerien (air-traffic management, ATM) consiste en une composante predictive (planification du trafic) et en une composante adaptative (controle du trafic). Le but de la composante predictive est de trouver un equilibre entre la demande de l'espace et la capacite disponible. Une fois que les avions ont decolle, la composante adaptative doit les guider en toute securite vers leurs destinations. Des incertitudes, telles que retards ou defaillances techniques, creent des phenomenes d'ecarts entre la composante predictive et adaptative. Cela entraine des problemes de securite ainsi qu'une utilisation sous-optimale de capacite. Meme si les causes majeures des incertitudes sont connues (incertitude de demande, incertitude de capacite, incertitude de gestion de flux), les mecanismes perturbateurs restent inconnus. L'approche de cette these est d'analyser des donnees d'ecoulement de trafic afin d'engendrer de nouvelles hypotheses sur les mecanismes qui causent des ecarts entre la composante predictive et adaptative dans l'ATM. C'est un premier pas pragmatique dans l'analyse d'un phenomene physique. Il est fonde sur le calcul des probabilites et plus precisement sur l'interpretation frequentiste des probabilites. On utilise des techniques d'analyse de donnees multi-variees et des processus ponctuels stochastiques afin d'inferer de nouvelles connaissances sur le phenomene. Nos resultats principaux sont: (i) des ecarts systematiques existent dans tous les secteurs evalues. Leur taille peut etre caracterisee par des distributions de Poisson et on constate une tendance systematique a supprimer le trafic sur des niveaux eleves de planification. C'est un resultat contre-intuitif car l'on s'attend a ce que les differents facteurs d'incertitude s'annullent en moyenne. Ensuite on montre que des perturbations aleatoires d'un processus d'arrivee causent des ecarts systematiques dans deux classes de plan de vol. On conclut que meme si toutes les incertitudes controlables etaient eliminees, des ecarts systematiques entre le nombre planifie et observe de vols apparaisseraient. Ce resultat est utile pour la planification tactique des flux. De nouvelles contraintes pour le probleme de l'allocation de creneaux peuvent etre formulees en identifiant des plans de vol qui sont robustes aux perturbations aleatoires. (ii) on montre que les ecarts se propagent uniquement le long des routes aeriennes. Aucune propagation non-attendue n'est identifiee. Cela indique que les controlleurs aeriens n'utilisent pas systematiquement le re-routage pour compenser les ecarts. On remarque egalement des probabilites de queue elevees et on propose deux (nouveaux) modeles de series chronologiques qui decrivent les caracteristiques du processus de perturbation des plans de vol. Cela indique que les perturbations sont d'une nature heterogene et non-independante. Le resultat est empirique et on affirme que le comportement observe est du a des dependances entre les avions intervenant sur un long-terme. Comme travaux futurs on propose de continuer l'identification des ordonnancements de vol qui absorbent l'impact des incertitudes non-controlables et de developper des modeles statistiques qui expliquent les echantillons long-terme de congestion. Ceci constitue une base pour la quantifiaction de l'impact des decisions locales sur la performance globale du reseau de transport.

Cette thèse traite de la mise en place de résumés généralistes de flux de données. Elle est centrée autour du développement de deux algorithmes, l'un produisant des résumés généralistes d'un flux de données et l'autre de trois flux de données partageant des liens relationnels. Un flux de données est défini comme une séquence continue d'objets tels qu'il soit impossible de contrôler l'ordre d'arriver des objets ou de stocker le flux dans son intégralité. On retrouve ces flux de données dans des applications comme les télécommunications, les réseau de capteurs ou l'analyse financière. La première étape de ce travail a été de définir ce qu'est un résumé généraliste de flux de données. Sa première propriété est qu'il doit être utilisable pour une large gamme de tâches de fouille de données. La seconde est qu'il doit être possible de constituer à partir du résumé principal un résumé ne concernant qu'une portion du flux arrivé jusqu'alors. Le premier algorithme réalisé, StreamSamp, est un algorithme de résumé généraliste d'un seul flux de données et il est basé sur des techniques d'échantillonnage. Le second, CrossStream est destiné à résumer trois flux de données partageant des informations relationnelles entre eux, un flux de relation liant deux flux d'entités. Cet algorithme est basé sur des micro classes inspirées de l'algorithme CluStream d'Aggarwal combinés à l'utilisation de Filtres de Bloom. Les deux algorithmes ont été implémentés et testé sur plusieurs jeux de données pour déterminer leur performances face à divers situations
This thesis deals with the creation and management of general purpose summaries build from data streams. It is centered on the development of two algorithms, one designed to produce general purpose summaries for a single data stream, and the other for three data stream sharing relational information. A data stream is defined as a real-time, continuous, ordered sequence of items. It is impossible to control the order in which items arrive, nor is it feasible to locally store a stream in its entirety. Such data streams appear in many applications, such as utility networks, IT or in monitoring tasks for instance in meteorology, geology or even finance. The first step in this work is to define the meaning of a general purpose data stream summary. The first property of such a summary is that it should be suitable for a variety of data mining and querying tasks. The second one is that it should be possible to build from the main summary a summary concerning only a selected portion of the stream encountered so far. The first algorithm designed, StreamSamp, is a general purpose summary algorithm dealing with a single data stream and based around the principle of sampling. While the second algorithm, CrossStream, is is a general purpose summary algorithm dealing with three data streams sharing relational information with one another, one relation stream linking two entity streams. This algorithm is based on the use of micro clusters, inspired by the CluStream algorithm designed by Aggarwal combined with the use of Bloom Filter. Both algorithm were implemented and tested against various sets of data to assess their performance in a number of situations

Dans le cadre du théorème du capital-valeur, la valorisation par les bénéfices présente certaines insuffisances auxquelles nous tentons de remédier en proposant l'utilisation d'autres flux, les "liquidités disponibles". L'étude empirique sur le marché français nous a permis de comparer la pertinence de plusieurs indicateurs liés aux liquidités disponibles avec différents ratios financiers. Il apparaît que les indicateurs que nous avons proposés s'avèrent bien pris en compte dans l'évaluation des actions par le marché, et donc judicieux dans le cadre d'une gestion active
Valuation is important in many fields of finance, such as corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions or portfolio management. Whereas it is limited for indexed funds management, valuation represents a great issue for an active portfolio management. In the capital-value theory, valuation with dividend discount models shows some insufficiencies, which may be corrected by the use of other flows, the "free cash flow". The empirical study on the french market allowed us to compare how relevant several indicators were, among which some were linked to free cash flows and some were financial ratios. The results show that the indicators we proposed are significant in the market valuation of stocks, and therefore relevant in active management

L'optimisation des conditions experimentales relative au debit et au volume d'injection permet de realiser un maximum d'analyses compatibles avec la precision souhaitee de la mesure. Abstract This chapter examines waiting in liver transplant medicine, a field characterized by immediacy, urgency and delay. By taking a close look at waiting lists, allocating algorithms and mobile phones, it engages with the technological and material features that generate, shape and mediate waiting and hope when livers fail. Based on ethnographic research in Germany, I analyse the powerful workings of ephemeral waiting lists and discuss how these lists in flux put the lives of those looking for an organ on hold. By doing so, I contribute to understandings of how immobilities are produced and their affective dimensions. I approach waiting lists for liver transplants as part of transplant medicine’s invisible digital infrastructure and contend that the mobile phone becomes a critical feature therein, significantly affecting those waiting for a transplant. Firstly, I discuss the wait list as bureaucratic technology, marker of eligibility and symbol for patients’ chances to receive live-saving treatment. I then show, secondly, how complex algorithms create these ephemeral lists. Thirdly, I turn in more detail to the experiences of a patient listed for a transplant. I demonstrate how, in this time of waiting-in-uncertainty, the mobile phone becomes an extension and tangible manifestation of this ephemeral list as well as a reminder of one’s dependency on medical care. I show how the mobile phone transforms from a mere communication tool to an ambivalent marker of people’s simultaneous mobility and immobility during their wait.

Cet article s’intéresse aux manières d’appréhender et d’analyser la musique dans des corpus d’émissions de télévision française. Fondé sur une recherche doctorale (Gueraud-Pinet, 2018) en sciences de l’information et de la communication, il présente les méthodes engagées afin de comprendre la construction de l’agencement « image-musique » dans les programmes de télévision dits de flux de 1949 à 2016. L’analyse des grilles de programmation offre ainsi des données sur la place occupée par les programmes composés de musiques tout en permettant d’échantillonner les corpus audiovisuels. Ces derniers sont analysés statistiquement et thématiquement afin de comprendre la construction du rapport « image-musique », mais aussi afin de comparer ces données dans un temps long. Enfin, pour pallier l’approche objective découlant de l’analyse de contenu, une analyse du parcours circulatoire des images musicalisées est présentée. Celle-ci permet d’envisager notre objet en prenant en considération les carences musicologiques du chercheur en communication. Elle mène surtout à entrevoir le caractère symbolique produit par la relation « image-son » à la télévision.

Electrical rotating machines operate through the interaction of electrical currents with magnetic flux that may itself be created through other electrical currents. In both cases the magnetic flux present in the air gap of the machine is a crucial component of its overall performance dictating, among other things, torque (and hence machine size) and noise and vibration. Both these particular aspects are of prime importance to designers of electrical propulsion motors for naval applications. The prime aspect of the magnetic flux in the air gap is its shape or profile which has a direct bearing on both torque density and torque pulsations. This paper describes a method to analyse a machine winding through application of Fourier Series to determine the efficacy of the winding with regard to machine excitation. The method is first explained by analysing a conventional winding and then applied to a Fractional Slot Winding and a Dual Winding.

Over the years, different types of electric motors, including Brushless Direct Current (BLDC), have supported the UAV’s propulsion system in diverse configurations. However, in the context of flux flow, the Radial Flux Permanent Magnet Motor (RFPMM) has been given more priority than the Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motor (AFPMM) due to its sustainability in design and construction. Nevertheless, the AFPMM boasts higher speed, power density, lower weight, and greater efficiency than the RFPMM, because of its shorter flux path and the absence of end-turn winding. Therefore, this paper focuses to conduct a suitability analysis of an AFPMM as a shaft-connected propeller-mounted motor, with the intention of replacing the RFPMM in UAV applications. The design of the AFPMM, incorporating topologies featuring a one-rotor, one-stator configuration, is considered. In this research, the physical dimensions of an AFPMM required to meet performance parameters are derived using systematic analytical equations. Furthermore, the design is executed using a multi-physics simulation tool to analyse the electromagnetic behaviour of the model. To validate the designed model and compare its characteristics, a prototype of BLDC RFPMM with similar output performance parameters is selected. The operating parameters are tested for compliance with the recommended output characteristics of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Through reverse engineering, the design dimensions are obtained, and the electromagnetic behaviour is analysed using a multi-physics simulation tool. Moreover, based on the performance characteristics of the RFPMM, the design dimensions of the AFPMM are determined using sizing equations and assumed design variables. The suitability analysis, focusing on UAV behaviour is scrutinized to identify the most appropriate electric motor for ensuring the sustainable and efficient operations.</div></div>

Abstract It is necessary to cool specimens during spraying in the case APS or HVOF, because process-induced heat rises the specimen temperature and leads to oxidation and spalling of coatings. A reasonable cooling just after spraying improves some properties such as microhardness, adhesion and cohesion of the coating/substrate system. In the modelling of specimen temperature and residual stress, it is necessary to know the flux distribution of the cooling jet like compressed air, CO2 liquid jet etc. Therefore, the evaluation of the flux becomes important. In order to measure and analyse the distribution of cooling flux imposed on the substrate, the theory of the inverse problem of heat conduction was applied and an experimental apparatus was designed to mesure the transient temperature. Because of its insensibility to the effect of measuring error, the conjugate gradient method, an effective method of inverse problems was chosen among several mathematical optimisation methods. The flux distributions of cooling jet can be estimated by using the measured data and a program written according to the conjugate gradient method.

Tungsten coated CuCrZr prepared by vacuum plasma spraying (VPS) has been chosen as Plasma-facing components (PFC) for EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak) device, which have to survive from impact of high heat flux (HHF), fierce bombardment of particle flux and influence of alternating magnetic field in the device. Thus effective non-destructive examination (NDE) methods must be developed to assure quality and reliability of the PFCs. This paper presents infrared (IR) thermography NDE techniques being developed at ASIPP. Three-dimensional (3D) thermal finite element (FE) analyse has also been performed to verify the accuracy of the experimental results and improve the testing, showing that there is basic correlation between simulation and IR thermography testing.

Les crues torrentielles sont caractérisées par un transport très intense de sédiment et d’éventuels blocs rocheux par charriage ou lors d’épisodes de laves torrentielles. L’obs­truction des ouvrages par les blocs est difficile à prédire mais peut avoir des effets significatifs sur la répartition spatiale des dépôts. Ce court article décrit synthéti­quement un nouvel outil accessible en ligne (sur le site platrisk.ige.inrae.fr), nommé MCB³ (Modeling of Clo­gging by Boulders of Barriers and Bridges – Modélisa­tion de l’obstruction par les blocs des barrages et ponts). Cet outil permet des modélisations simplifiées des flux de lave torrentielle à travers des ouvrages (barrage fil­trant, pont) et permet de caractériser leur efficacité de piégeage et d’atténuation des débits de pointe ou les pro­babilités de blocages des ouvertures.

Abstract:
The light collection and concentration subsystem (LCCS) of any concentrating solar thermal (CST) system is composed of the surfaces that collect and concentrate the sunlight and of the input surfaces of the receivers, or receivers’ envelopes, where the light is concentrated. For all commercial CST technologies the LCCS is, together with the power block, the subsystem that has more influence in the overall performance and cost. Thus, its optimization is critical to increase the cost-competitiveness of these systems. This optimization requires, in many cases, the optimization of the position, geometry and size of a very large number of solar collecting and concentrating surfaces as well as the optimization of the shape and size of the input surfaces of the receivers where the sunlight is concentrated. Because a full optimization requires the exploration of a configuration space with a very large number of dimensions, the traditional approach consist in making many initial assumptions to drastically reduce the number of dimensions of the configuration space to a handful, so that the optimization can be carried out using conventional high-end workstations in a matter of hours. However, to achieve relevant breakthroughs and to substantially increase the cost-competitiveness of CST systems a bolder approach is needed, where sophisticated design and analysis tools, engineered from the start to be used in High Performance Computers (HPC), will be combined with sophisticated optimization strategies targeted to explore and find optimal solutions in very high dimensional configuration spaces. This paper presents the first of a series of such design and analysis tools. The tool, call Flux Tracer, partitions the three-dimensional space in which the LCC subsystem under analysis is immersed into volumetric pixels (voxels) and computes the radiant energy flux that traverses each voxel as a function of time. It integrates the energy density in every voxel overtime, providing detailed information regarding how the radiant energy flows in space in a given LCC subsystem and in a given period of time. This information is the cornerstone of the highly sophisticated computational LCC subsystem optimization framework The Cyprus Institute (CYI) is developing, in collaboration with the Australian National University (ANU), targeted to be used in HPC’s.

Abstract:
This paper aims to apply experiment and computer simulation to investigate heat transfer characteristics of different fluids through microchannels with different geometries. An experimental apparatus with multi-functions, low uncertainties, high precision and temperature control was constructed. The experimental results are compared with the results of computer simulations and theoretical predictions from the conventional laminar flow theory. The flow rate, temperature and pressure drop were measured at steady states to analyse flow characteristics. It was concluded that the effect of allowance for machining of microchannels on heat transfer characteristics could be neglected under lower flow rate. The fluid mass flow rate, the inlet temperature of fluid, and the geometric parameters, particularly the hydraulic diameter and aspect ratio H/Wm in rectangular microchannels were found to have a significant influence on fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics.
