Requirements analysis is the first step of the design process. It is also animportant source of innovation in companies, particularly when it is shared and fulfilled by themultidisciplinary design team. The prospection and anticipation of future needs are therefore animportant challenge for the development of new products adapted to their user. The goal of thisthesis is to optimize the anticipation of future needs in order to foster innovation. Ourassumptions include methodological and technological factors to improve the collaboration ofthe multidisciplinary team and the performance of requirements anticipation. Theseassumptions are operationalized through three different ways of running the Persona methodand tested in the context of three industrial projects. We show that a method combining severalreasoning modes adapted to the various professional backgrounds in the multidisciplinary team, the anticipation of needs is improved quantitatively and qualitatively (i.e. usefulness assessedby users). We also show that the technological support plays an important role in theeffectiveness of methods: a collaborative and playful technology such as an interactive tabletopcan increase the number of strategic ideas for the company (i.e. useful and technically feasible);an immersive and playful technology such as a virtual world can shape needs anticipation inaccordance with the project priorities (Techno-Centered or User-Centered). These results openmany opportunities for the methodological and technological evolution of front-end innovationphases towards the anticipation of future needs

The recent evolution of the agricultural context pushes to consider a farm as a real enterprise requiring performances and information management but also management tools adapted to their needs. Researches in Enterprise Modeling have shown the benefits of having models and methodologies to obtain a business representation of industrial enterprises operation and organisation in order to define management tools adapted to their needs. In agriculture, such methods do not exist and no industrial methods have been transposed in this sector yet. We thus propose in this thesis to evaluate the contributions of enterprise modeling to help identify farm business management needs. We define the methodological framework CEMAgriM based particularly on a structuring modeling framework, a conceptual framework adapted to agricultural production systems, and a graphical modelling language. We show the interest of this framework through an implementation on a farm and discuss research perspectives around our proposal
Serna, Rodas Juliana. "Methodological approach for the sustainable design of structured chemical products during early design stages." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université de Lorraine, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018LORR0219.
Emulsion based chemical products, which belong to the category of micro-structured chemical products, have a broad range of commercial applications. Despite their importance, there is not a general methodology for their design. With the aim to contribute to the progress on this matter, this research presents a product design methodology focused on emulsion design with the following characteristics: it proposes methods for customer needs analysis, product ideas generation and selection of the best product alternative. It considers the multivariate nature of emulsion design by taking into account the multiple effects of design variables into product properties. It integrates sustainability concepts into the product design process. The methodology comprises three design stages: needs stage, ideas generation stage and ideas selection stage. In the needs stage, customer needs are first analyzed and classified according to their effect on customer satisfaction and second translated into product specifications with the aid of experts and customers. The input is customer needs, i.e., statements expressing customers’ desires about the product, and the output corresponds to product specifications, i.e., product characteristics that can be measured. To perform this stage two methods are used: Kano model and Quality Functional Deployment. In ideas generation stage, product concepts accomplishing product specifications are generated in three sub-steps: First, problem specifications are classified into a predefined group of design sub-problems. Second, each sub-problem is connected with one or more pre-defined solution strategies through a prefilled relational matrix. Third, compatible solution strategies are selected and connected to ingredients and processing conditions through a second relational matrix. As result, a set of product concepts is generated. Thisprocedure is developed by the implementation of two relational matrices proposed in this research based on emulsion science and expert knowledge. The first connects sub-problems with solution strategies and the second connects solution strategies with ingredients and processing conditions. In the selection stage, generated product concepts are evaluated according to product specifications. In addition, appropriated sustainability indicators are included to assess and rank product alternatives according to a global sustainability index. To perform this stage, a set of indicators are selected and integrated by the implementation of multi-criteria analysis methods. The application of the methodology is exposed with a case study: the design of a moisturizing cream

Recent studies have shown that small and medium-sized industrial companies are conscious that they need to engage their digital transformation in the coming years. However, the lack of tools adapted to their specific context to guide them in their transformation is a barrier to the adoption of new digital resources. This research study aims to solve this problem by proposing several contributions. First of all, a state of the art on digital maturity assessment models has allowed us to design an assessment model through the study of three dimensions: organizational, human and digital resources. The measurement of these dimensions is possible through the evaluation of the company's internal practices using maturity grids according to five maturity levels. All these elements constitute a digital maturity assessment tool adapted to the specific context of SMEs. Another contribution is the decision support method based on the results of the tool's 25 maturity grids. This method allows companies, in a few steps, to know their level of digital maturity and their significance, but also to visualize the practices to work on in priority to increase their maturity level. In addition, the company can influence the evaluation of practices by specifying a strategic development axis such as export. Coefficients specific to an export strategy are then applied. This method constitutes a guide for defining the digital transformation strategy of industrial SMEs. These tools and methods have been tested with French industrial companies

In Africa, decentralization takes place in contexts that vary from country to country: the need to reform the Government following a crisis, the desire to establish local democracy to compensate for central or even dictatorial power, sometimes even the Government 's inability to provide basic socio-economic services such as health, education, drinking water, etc.In West Africa, decentralization was often accompanied by a redrawing of territories in the 1990s. Most West African countries have created three levels of local authorities: the Region, the Department (Cercle in Mali) and the Commune. This leads to a need for territory management and planning on several scales (inventory, monitoring of the environmental impact of development, sanitation, natural resource management, rural economic development, health, education, hydraulics and risk management). In the context of a growing need for information, development partners recognize the usefulness of the Geographic Information System (GIS) as a tool for decision making. The creation of different ministries in connection with geographic information in Mali requires pooling of skills centered on geomatics. Indeed, while each Institution and sectoral ministry has its own thematic data, their valuation is hampered by a high dispersion and disparity of geographical and cartographic data. How to share a common geospatial and territorial system across a town hall, a local authority, an NGO, the Government as well as other partners working on the same territorial? What territorial information strategy for a country like Mali? The aim of this thesis is to create, according to the concepts, methods, and technologies of current geography and statistics, a tool to support decision making in a context of overlapping responsibilities/actions and decentralization, designed to take a decisive step forward for the benefit of local territorial planning, by making coherent and available the geolocalized data necessary for an effective spatial planning policy. This strategic perspective implies going back to the distribution of powers, the ratio between free and paid software, participative information (societal, social, ethnic aspects, etc.) and the development of geographical information in Mali.An information strategy is in fact an essential prerequisite for any planning and development strategy. This thesis is an innovative project that will aim to provide answers on the implementation of such a strategy of multi-source and multi-stakeholder spatial information management in a developing country

The theoretical characteristic of the concept of sector is the attempt, using an essentially micro-economic approach, to grasp the heterogeneousness and the irregularity of economic states. This micro-economic approach, the interpretative basis of which is individualistic methodology, essables a departure to be made from the usal distinction between micro-econo mics and macro-economics on the one hand, and, on the other, presents the sector as an interpretation mode of individual behaviour procedures. The sector is therefore not the subject of an analysis, but an instrument of observation and a means of inderstanding the logic behind human behaviour. On the methodological leved, therefore an invariant reference must be established that can represent the characteristic of the evolution of economic market processes and the various relationships. Sector-based analysis is of two-fold interest: - on a theoretical leved where disequilibrium, from which processes may be perceived, is no longer conceived as a global defect of functioning economics, but as an evolu- tionary conception of the conditions of renewal of the market processes (dynamic approach)

This thesis focuses on the problem of stability and robust stability of a class of linear systems with distributed delays. Our work is motivated by the increasing number of models from biology to communication over network and traffic flow, models that can be included in the general class which is the subject of our study. We develop two complementary approaches, geometric and algebraic, respectively. Such approaches allow deriving the stability regions in the parameter space defined by the pair (mean delay, gap), where the gap is mainly a propagation delay. Ln other words, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for stability of the systems belonging to considered class. Throughout the thesis various applications are presented. First, we point out some qualitative properties concerning the stability of some models arising in biology and in communication over networks. Next, we develop a method to study a recent model of traffic flow dynamic that include a memory effect. Illustrative numerical examples complete the presentation

The aim of this thesis is the geoachaeological study of Beziers area. For this purpose recording and analysis of the geophysical, geomorphological, geological and archaeological characteristics of Beziers area (south France), using new technologies, took place. During the whole procedure of this thesis, numerous technologies and methods were applied : Geographic Information Systems (GIS) ; Photo interpretation ; Global Positioning System (GPS) ; Development of algorithms for the creation of a Web G. I. S ; Creation of 3-variable models for the study of geophysical parameters, such as visibility, digital elevation model, the creation of cross-sections, etc. Using the above techniques and methods a model of a Roman cadastre was developed. Regarding the geo-archaeological part of this project, quantitative, spatial and combinational analysis took place. A geographical database was created for the geomorphological and archaeological characteristics of Beziers. Thematic maps have been created based on primary and secondary data; a map with topographic inclinations, a map with the dominant Roman cadastre, as well combinatory maps

The dissertation propose and tests a model of consumer evaluation of the services of business organization. It develops an index of global satisfaction and examines the factors which influence the level of importance attached to elementary services and the level of satisfaction resulting from their use. The research was carried out in the air transportation sector. The model develop was found to be adequat for describing the mechanisms of evaluating services by the consumer in the sector studied. The index of global satisfaction developed in the dissertation is found to be almost equally powerful as the confirmation of expectation in explaining the variations in the global satisfaction, and in discriminating among consumer groups

A manager needs informations to make decisions and actions. These informations should help him to reach his objectives. They are difficult to determine. Because they depend on the cognitive style of the manager and the vision he has of his task. This research proposes a method to guide the data choice. It combines cognitive mapping (soda) with a critical success factors approach. The cognitive map is a group map but the data choice is individual. This process allows the managers to determine the set of available informations. The methodology has been tested through a management simultation by a laboratory experimentation. This test shows that the use of the method increases the managers environment knowledge and it helps them to choose decision-oriented informations. It also shows the existence of an efficient communication between the producer and the consumer of informations and then the definition of information. End last, this sort of methodology seems to be indicated to determine the cross-functional informations

Network meta-analyses allow for estimating all possible pair-wise comparisons between interventions, even some trials are lacking In the past few years, network meta-analyses have been increasingly used for comparing healthcare interventions. Network meta-analyses are primarily meta-analyses; they are probably subject to the same types of bias and should therefore be performed according to the explicit and rigorous methods used in systematic reviews. However, did not evaluate the presence of essential methodological components of the systematic review process such as conducting a literature search and assessing the risk of bias of individual studies, or the presentation of findings in reports of network meta-analyses. We assessed whether network meta-analyses follow the key methodological recommendations for reporting and conduct of systematic reviews. We show that the essential methodological components of the systematic review process—conducting a literature search and assessing risk of bias of individual studies—are frequently lacking in reports of network meta-analyses. We assessed how the results of network meta-analyses are reported. We show that the results of network meta-analyses are heterogeneously reported. The author inadequately reported essential component to judge the amount of evidence (that is, the interventions included in the network, direct comparisons between interventions, number of randomised trials and patients for each comparison) and the relative effect sizes between interventions from direct evidence, indirect evidence, and the network meta-analysis. Development of reporting guidelines to assist authors in writing and readers in critically appraising reports of network meta-analyses is timely

This thesis aims to identify needs and difficulties of the spouse caregivers of persons with dementia. We also investigate similarities and specificities related to the caregiving situation regarding the age atonset of the disease. The first axis examines the experience of couples in which one member received a diagnosis of earlyon setdementia. The results show an evolution in the relation to knowledge of the caregivers and the persons with dementia. They oscillate between the need to understand the changes caused by the disease and a distancing after the diagnosis. Moreover, with the progression of the disease, the caregivers are not able to adapt their level of assistance, which increases tensions between the two partners. The two studies of the second axis aim to compare needs and coping strategies of spouse caregivers of persons with early and late onset dementia. The majority of needs and strategies are the same for all spouse caregivers. However, the spouse caregivers of persons with early-onset dementia express the greatest number of needs related to maintaining contacts, more need of adapted care structures and more need to be assisted in administrative procedures. The spouse caregivers of persons with late-onset dementia use more humor, re-arranging, and getting away from the entourage. The third axis investigates the influence of the characteristics of the caregiving context on spousal caregiver distress with a structural modelisation. The sittings of this general model were compared regarding the age at onset of the disease and the gender of caregiver. This study demonstrated that 4 factors contribute to spousal caregiver distress: preparedness, family support, self-rated health and the quality of the couple relationship. Dyadic determinants were more important for caregivers of PEOD. The analysis of these results permits to specify the content of support for a common core and specific modules depending on the age at onset of the disease

The objective of this thesis is to examine whether a more intensive use of qualitative analysis could prove to be decisive to improve our comprehension of markets’ rules. To appreciate the value of this research technique, the methodological principles required for its elaboration are first studied (chapter I). Some specificities of its informative content compared to that of other research techniques used in economics are then presented (chapter II). Its empirical dimension (chapter III) and its analytical dimension (chapter IV) are then examined in order to determine more precisely its scientific value. From the study of a data base of hundred qualitative analyses in industrial organisation, the goals pursued by authors who are using them are presented (chapter V). This thesis ends with a comparative study of the contribution of qualitative, quantitative and formal analysis on a specific subject: the problem of resale price maintenance (chapter VI)

In France, population is ageing and public policies are carried out to take care of the disabled elderly. In such a context, this work aims to describe and analyse the situation of community-dwelling elderly with activities of daily living. Using representative data and appropriate econometric models, factors associated with three particular events are estimated. Each of them is studied in a separate chapter. In the first chapter, the main subject is the assessment of needs for personal assistance with activities of daily living, reported by the French elderly. The results show how the choice of needs measure is important to define the population potentially eligible to public allocations. Elderly living in poor households are more likely to report needs for personal assistance. The second chapter is interested in care received by the elderly, whether professionals or relatives provide it. Hourly and monetary amounts are estimated, which give a global value of informal care and confirm the scope of the social and economic contribution made by close relations who are looking after elderly. The study of the factors associated with the type of care received (formal, informal or mixed care), or not, shows that elderly living with low social and economic resources have less access to care and particularly to formal care. In the third chapter, the two previous situations are confronted, by estimating the gaps that can exist between reported needs for personal assistance and received care. It can bring about undermet or unmet needs, depending on whether help is insufficient or completely nonexistent. The estimated models underline one more time the impact of economic arguments in the way of meeting expressed needs. The last model, which takes into account both endogeneity and sample selection biases, insist on the attention to give to the use of proxy respondents in health surveys
