Abstract:

ABSTRACT The Ami-AliA/AliB oligopeptide permease is an ATP-binding cassette transporter which is found in Streptococcus pneumoniae and which is involved in nutrient uptake. We investigated the role of the three paralogous oligopeptide-binding lipoproteins AmiA, AliA, and AliB by using murine models of pneumococcal colonization and invasive disease. A series of mutants lacking aliA, aliB, and amiA either alone or in combination as double or triple mutations were used. Inoculation of the nasopharynx with a mixture of the obl (oligopeptide-binding lipoprotein-negative) triple-mutant and wild-type (D39) bacteria resulted in significantly smaller numbers of obl bacteria colonizing the nasopharynx. The use of a mixture of individual mutants and wild-type pneumococci revealed that AmiA, AliA, and AliB were all required for successful colonization of the nasopharynx. The obl mutant was more attenuated than the aliB mutant but not the aliA or amiA mutant. Therefore, there is some redundancy in the Ami-AliA/AliB complex in terms of nasopharyngeal colonization, with AliA and AmiA being able to compensate for the removal of AliB. Animals with invasive disease caused by these mutants had survival times, bacterial loads, and inflammatory cytokine production levels similar to those of animals infected with wild-type pneumococci. Our results show that although the Ami-AliA/AliB complex is not required for virulence during pneumococcal pneumonia, it does play a role in colonization of the nasopharynx.

Abstract:

Contemporary anxiety concerning our efforts to communicate with aliens might be understood in terms of the exponential advances in neural network research (so-termed “Artificial Intelligence”) and the probability that the aliens we encounter are more likely to be alien AIs than organic beings. The premise of our paper is that the disquieting sense that AI possesses, or is possessed of, an external intelligence, one that operates autonomously, unpredictably, and, in our deepest fears, mutinously, is projectively displaced onto extra-planetary aliens. Our paper offers an analysis of Trevor Paglen’s satellite work, The Last Pictures, as well as Eduardo Kac’s Inner Telescope and Lagoogleglyph series. We conclude with a speculative imagining of an AI-archaeologist encountering in the distant future the orbital ring of dead satellites, one of which contains Paglen’s curated image archive.

Abstract I limiti alia spesa sono una regola importante nel «gioco» elettorale. I critici dei limiti affermano che i candidati già in carica (gli «uscenti») elaborano queste norme per tenere lontani i possibili sfidanti.Questi ragionamenti sono interessanti, ma non poggiano su di una base empirica solida. I dati potrebbero sostenere o respingere l’opinione critica, dopo opportuno trattamento.La tesi di quest’articolo è che se i candidati già in carica traggono vantaggio dai limiti alia spesa, tale vantaggio viene ottenuto in un modo che non è in alcun modo evidenziato dai dati.Il vantaggio non emerge in forma di maggiori voti per i candidati in carica, ma in termini di maggiori benefici per i loro più stretti sostenitori.Questa spiegazione va al di là di quella tradizionale sul modo in cui le limitazioni alle spese elettorali aiutano i candidati in carica. Essa può anche contribuire alia comprensione dei motivi per cui non è possibile dare una risposta definitiva alia controversia su chi trae vantaggio dai limiti alle spese elettorali.

Abstract:

Abstract This study aimed at investigating the prevailing organizational climate at Al-Balqa Applied University \ faculty of princess Alia University from the viewpoint of the faculty members. The study population consisted of all faculty members at the faculty of princess Alia University whom count (80) individual. In order to collect the study data, a questionnaire was designed based on previous studies. The study showed that the overall mean for the organizational climate prevailing in Al-Balqa Applied University / Faculty of Princess Alia University from the Viewpoint of the Faculty Members has reached (3.32) and standard deviation (1.00), with a degree of importance of moderate. Results also showed that the field of personal relationships came in the first rank; while the field of affiliation ranked last. The study recommended creating an effective system of incentives in the university, in order to improve the satisfaction of faculty members for their jobs, which contribute to a organizational climate, which facilitates work processes, achieving the objectives of the university. RIASSUNTOScopo - In questi ultimi anni l'epidemiologia è al centro dell'attenzione. La psichiatria è stata all'avanguardia nello sviluppo dei metodi epidemiologici e nella loro applicazione alia ricerca è alia pianificazione. La psichiatria epidemiologica si è occupata prevalentemente del servizi sanitari di secondo livello, cioè dei servizi ospedalieri. Scopo del presente lavoro è discutere quali sistemi di monitoraggio e quali tipi di dati saranno necessari in futuro. Metodo - La discussione e basata sull'esperienza e sui risultati ottenuti dai registri psichiatrici esistenti, principalmente dal Registro Psichiatrico dei Casi danese, presso il Dipartimento di Psichiatria demografica di Aarhus. Risultati - Alcuni Paesi hanno sviluppato sistemi di monitoraggio per la registrazione routinaria dei dati riguardanti il settore ospedaliero, la qualcosa comporta rilevanti benefici per garantire la qualita, per la ricercà e per la pianificazione. Peraltro, dopo l'introduzione della psichiatria decentratà, si deve riconoscere l'urgente necessita di spostare il punto focale affinche l'impiego dell'epidemiologia possa giovare anche alle attivita nel campo della psichiatria territoriale e della salute mentale fornita dai servizi di primo livello. Sebbene cio comporti grandi difficolta, devono essere sviluppati sistemi di monitoraggio per raccogliere informazioni valide e attendibili relative a tali mezzi di cura. E inoltre necessario sviluppare metodi epidemiologici da impiegare nella ricerca e nella garanzia di qualita in questo campo. Tali metodi di ricerca dovrebbero essere utilizzati non solo nell'indagine sull'eziologia. il decorso ed i risultati clinici dei disturbi mentali, ma anche, per esempio, nell'osservazione del funzionamento sociale e della disabilita dei pazienti psichiatrici, del bisogno di cura, della soddisfazione dei bisogni, dell'economia sanitaria e del flusso dei pazienti tra i differenti livelli del sistema di trattamento. Cio provoca numerose domande relative alia sicurezza dei dati, alia legislazione ed a problemi etici legati alia raccolta e all'impiego di dati nei modelli epidemiologici. Conclusioni - Si raccomanda di dare priorità ad un ampia utilizzazione dei dati dei registri esistenti; all'introduzione di registri relativi alia salute mentale fornita dai servizi di secondo livello nei Paesi che ne sono privi; all'introduzione di registri relativi alia salute mentale fornita dai servizi di primo livello; all'introduzione di sistemi di monitoraggio della disabilità; all'introduzione di sistemi per monitorare le risorse dei pazienti; ad una larga collaborazione in questo lavoro tra epidemiologi in campo psichiatrico, amministratori, economisti e tecnici.

Abstract:

AbstractThis study aims to survey the secular subject, teaching of English, and learning in Qawmi Madrasas at grade 8 and Alia Madrasas in Bangladesh. Ethno-methodological surveys have been conducted in 2018 of the Southern region of Bangladesh, particularly among the students, teachers, and principals of eight Qawmi madrasas and five Alia madrasas. Findings revealed that Qawmi Madrasas do not have a conducive English learning environment for grade 8 level, class duration and schedule, teachers' salaries, as well as resources, found inadequate as opposed to the Alia religious schools. Unlike Qawmi Madrasas (Independent Islamic seminaries), Alia Madrasas (reformed religious schools) have so far, the privileges. Interviewees reported the immediate need for teacher training in English language learning for Qawmi religious schools. Moreover, students in the Qawmi schools also claimed that the resources used in the classroom, such as English textbooks should be employed more effectively. This research also found that internal and external factors forced them to include the secular subject, English in particular in their syllabi. Previous studies have focused mainly on religious schools through a sociological lens. However, this study addresses the secular subject, English teaching at unsecular religious schools in Bangladesh; hence, it provides values for avid readers, researchers and those who are involved in future studies of this country.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensurvei mata pelajaran sekuler, pengajaran bahasa Inggris, dan pembelajaran di Madrasah Qawmi kelas 8 dan Madrasah Alia di Bangladesh. Survei etno-metodologi telah dilakukan pada tahun 2018 di wilayah selatan Bangladesh, khususnya di antara siswa, guru, dan kepala sekolah dari delapan madrasah Qawmi dan lima madrasah Alia. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa Madrasah Qawmi tidak memiliki lingkungan belajar bahasa Inggris yang kondusif untuk tingkat kelas 8, durasi dan jadwal kelas, gaji guru, serta sumber daya, ditemukan tidak memadai dibandingkan dengan sekolah agama Alia. Berbeda dengan Madrasah Qawmi (seminari Islam Mandiri), Madrasah Alia (madrasah yang direformasi) sejauh ini memiliki keistimewaan. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa faktor internal dan eksternal memaksa mereka untuk memasukkan mata pelajaran sekuler, khususnya bahasa Inggris dalam silabus mereka. Studi sebelumnya berfokus terutama pada sekolah agama melalui lensa sosiologis. Abstract:

The study aimed to identify the impact of social networking on enhancing digital citizenship among students of Princess Alia University College at Al-Balqa Applied University. To achieve study objectives, the researcher used descriptive analytical methodology, where the researcher prepared a questionnaire consisting of (36) statements distributed over six dimensions: Digital citizenship awareness, digital access, digital commerce, digital etiquette, digital rights and responsibilities, digital safety. After verifying tool validity and reliability, the tool was distributed over the study sample that consist of (300) female students from Princess Alia University College, that was randomly selected, during the year 2019/2020. The study concluded that there is a high level of awareness with a value amounting 3.96 among students of the Princess Alia University College at Al-Balqa Applied University for Digital Citizenship. α =(0.05) on the impact of social networking on enhancing digital citizenship with its dimensions digital access, digital commerce, digital etiquette, rights and responsibilities and digital safety) among students of Princess Alia University College at Al-Balqa Applied University attributed to scientific level and specialization, The study recommended a set of recommendations, including: the need to establish a working group of Jordanian universities, government departments and private, working to raise the values of citizenship in general and digital citizenship in particular.

Metodo — La rassegna esamina le informazioni necessarie per una politica e una pianificazione locale e internazionale in diversi setting. Risultati — L'epidemiologia e la misurazione della disabilità sono essenziali per sostenere una politica di pianificazione che dia risposta ai bisogni locali, contemporaneamente ad informazioni sugli input e sulle variabili di processo e di esito. Conclusioni — L'epidemiologia e la misurazione della disabilità dovrebbero essere parte integrante della politica sanitaria e della pianificazione atte a sostenere lo sviluppo del servizio, i suoi processi e la misurazione degli esiti, non solo per i servizi specialistici di salute mentale, ma anche per l'attività nella medicina di base, nelle scuole e nei posti di lavoro.

This article publishes the entire holding of Geometric vases in the Museum of the British School at Athens. It includes numerous grave offerings found in one of the School's earliest excavations (1896–7), on the site of the Kynosarges Gymnasium in the south-eastern outskirts of ancient Athens. Abstract:

This paper reviews the results of a survey of members of the Australian and New Zealand Theological Library Association (ANZTLA). The survey asked whether ANZTLA members were also members of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and ALIA's Professional Development Scheme. It also sought general comments about professional develpment in the theological library environment. The implications of these results for the ongoing professional development of theological librarians are discussed, and some of the challenges that limit or prevent individuals from pursuing professional development opportunities are noted. A number of questions for consideration, and areas for potential further research are also proposed. If ANZTLA wishes to take a more active role in advocating for the value of professional development for its members, these may assist the organisation to determine the most appropriate path forward.

Abstract Questo lavoro esplora i vantaggi in termini di benessere derivanti dalla decentralizzazione in un sistema di governo a livelli multipli. L’analisi rivela che nei casi in cui le differenze in output locali efficienti risiedano nella domanda locale, i potenziali vantaggi in benessere dovuti alia decentralizzazione variano con l’entità di queste divergenze nella domanda e con il valore del coefficiente angolare (in termini assoluti) della curva di domanda. Al contrario, se la fonte delle differenze nei livelli efficienti dell’output locale risiede nei costi, allora l’entità dei vantaggi in benessere dovuti alia decentralizzazione fiscale varia direttamente con la grandezza delle differenze di costo intergiurisdizionale ma inversamente all’inclinazione della curva della domanda. Inoltre, quando si fa venir meno l’assunzione di «tecnologie” date, la decentralizzazione fiscale offre potenziali benefici in benessere grazie alia «sperimentazione» locale di diverse forme di programmi pubblici; il cosiddetto «federalismo di laboratorio» puo promuovere innovazione nei settore pubblico.

SAN VINCENZO AL VOLTURNO — SCAVI DEL 1996–7In due brevi stagioni di scavo del 1996 e 1997 sono state effettuate la ricognizione e lo scavo di un sito sulla sponda orientale del flume Volturno, di fronte ai ben noti scavi del monastero altomedievale di San Vincenzo. La ragione dell'intervento é legata al riesame delle ipotesi effettuate in seguito alle ricognizioni sul campo degli anni '80, alia luce di quanto emerso nell'area dal 1990 grazie ad una serie di lavori di emergenza e ritrovamenti casuali. In particolare, sono state sollevate alcune questioni relative alia natura, dimensioni e topografia dell'insediamento nella zona dal periodo sannita fino al sesto secolo d.C. Sono stati identificati alcuni resti di strutture di età sannita-repubblicana (muri di pietrisco legato da terra), la più antica evidenza di un insediamento di periodo sannita del sito. Questo edificio fu seguito da una piccola villa (?) nel primo secolo d.C, sviluppatasi in seguito, a metá del terzo secolo, in una villa più grande (forse con un cortile?). Questa struttura fu completamente ricostruita nel 350 circa; gli edifici vennero demoliti (o crollarono) alia fine del quarto/inizio quinto secolo, e l'insediamento si trasferì sulla sponda occidentale del Volturno. É stata individuata dell'evidenza per un riuso del sito nell'ottavo e nono secolo sotto forma di scorie della produzione di ceramica e vetro — evidenza associata alia presenza di una comunità di artigiani laici altomedievali al di fuori del recinto claustrale.

RiassuntoScopo- Discutere i principali problemi teorico-pratici connessi alia classificazione in campo medico e psichiatrico, e presentare la struttura generale della decima revisione della Classificazione Internazionale delle Malattie (ICD-10), entrata ufficialmente in vigore dal gennaio del 1993.Risultati- Sono dapprima discussi i fondamenti epistemologici della classificazione, le varie strategic classificatorie adottate in campo medico e psichiatrico ed i principali modelli classificatori esistenti. Sono quindi analizzati i problemi relativi alia attendibilità ed alia validità delle diagnosi psichiatriche, e vengono descritte le strategic che possono essere impiegate per migliorarle. Infine sono discussi i principi che hanno informato ia stesura dell' ICD-10 ed ifield trialseffettuati al fine di preparare il testo finale delle direttive diagnostiche.Conclusioni- La classificazione in psichiatria rappresenta un passaggio obbligato e necessario per rendere possibile la sistematizzazione delle nuove conoscenze e la comunicazione tra operatori, ricercatori ed utenti. La decima revisione dell' ICD rappresenta lo sforzo più ampio sinora compiuto in campo psichiatrico al fine di predisporre un sistema classificatorio rigoroso che, nel contempo, sintetizzi approcci e culture psichiatriche differenziate.

AbstractThe objective of the paper was to analyse the expenditures of labour in production of three selected fruit types (apples, black currant and gooseberry) including, inter alia, in relation to the surface area of a plantation. The total inputs of labour were calculated with a division into manual and mechanized works. Moreover, a detailed structure of manual and mechanized works was presented. It was stated, inter alia, that labour consumption of apple production is approximately four times higher in comparison to black currant and gooseberry. No impact of the plantation size on the total work inputs on fruit production was reported.

In the passage about the flax plant, lini natura et miracula (HN 1.19) at the beginning of Book 19 (1–25) of his Naturalis historia, Pliny launches into a moralizing diatribe on man's assault against Nature, fulminating against the evils which man brings upon himself by taking to the high seas in ships with sails. The passage culminates in the rhetorical outburst audax uita, scelerumque plena (19.4), which serves as something of a moral aphorism for the jeremiad as a whole. RIASSUNTOScopo— Il dibattito attuale sulle decisioni mediche di fine vita (DMFV) è caratterizzato da toni ed argomentazioni prevalentemente filosofici e confessionali. Scarsa attenzione è stata sinora rivolta a chiarire la reale diffusione di queste pratiche ed ancor meno esplorato risulta il ruolo che lo psichiatra e chiamato a svolgere in tale delicato contesto.Metodo— È stata condotta una revisione sistematica della letteratura degli ultimi dieci anni sulle DMFV, selezionando gli studi che riportavano: 1) stime della frequenza con cui i medici avevano ricevuto richieste di eutanasia (EU) e di assistenza al suicidio (SA); e/o 2) stime della frequenza con cui i medici avevano realmente praticato EU/SA. Sono stati inoltre passati in rassegna i lavori nei quali erano considerati i problemi relativi alia consulenza psichiatrica.Risultati— I risultati delle indagini esaminate documentano che le DMFV sono molto phi frequenti di quanto comunemente si ritenga. Una stima conservativa indica che almeno un medico su dieci ha praticato l'EU/SA. Una scarsa considerazione della consulenza psichiatrica è l'atteggiamento prevalente rilevato nei rari studi condotti sul tema.Conclusioni— L'eutanasia e le altre DMFV impongono alia coscienza ed alia pratica medica una riflessione profonda sui criteri che guidano l'agire umano e professionale degli operatori sanitari. Il contributo che la ricerca epidemiologica e psicosociale puo offrire al dibattito bioetico è indispensabile.

Chatbot can interpret the message given by the user, the process, the message, the excute what needs to chatbot do based on orders from users, and the outcome of the execution of programs are provided to users [1]. Based on the results of tests carried out, then it can be concluded that the construction of this application will results in application of learning to chatbot is based on android. Its is hoped that the construction of the application of learning to chatbot, the students in SMA IT Alia the city of Tangerang will facilitate in the activities of the study.
