Abstract:
This paper is an attempt to apply Jacques Derrida’s theory of Deconstruction to American Dream and its treatment in the language of Edward Albee’s play American Dream and other American Playwrights. Different deconstructive terms have been applied to understand and analyze the language of Albee’s The American Dream. Deconstructive terms; Différance, Erasure and Aporia have been applied to the language used by Albee to analyze the concept of American dream and its relation to its context of old American Dream as envisaged by the founding fathers and the new American Dream as defined by James Truslow Adams. These deconstructive terms will help readers to understand the themes and language of postmodern and post war American drama in general and those of Albee’s in particular. This, in turn, makes the reader realize that American dream as depicted in modern American Playwrights is materialistic, illogical, futile and bizarre: Albee’s play reflects modern American society and its sensibility. Language of modern is simple yet it communicates multi-faceted interpretations and those interpretations have been explored in the light of all these deconstructive terms. The basic purpose of involving these deconstructive terms in analyzing the language of Albee’s The American Dream and the other major postmodern American plays is not only to understand the mutability and fluidity in the diction but also to expose absurdity and apparent meaninglessness in it.

Abstract:
This paper explores the deconstructive analysis of trauma and alienation keeping in view Julia Kristeva’s Theory of Intertextuality and Jacques Derrida's Theory of Deconstruction to analyze the selected plays of Edward Albee. This paper tries to establish a relationship among various aspects of old and new American Dreams, thematic explorations of different American Playwrights and the existential approaches of Albee and other contemporary American playwrights. This paper has tried to offer an analysis of the selected plays of Edward Albee (1928-2016) to depict the social, personal, and familial emptiness, psychological fragmentation and stagnation while exploring the multiplicity of the texts. This paper will help future researchers to appreciate the texts of different authors while applying deconstructive intertextuality. This paper will also help them to understand the multiple approaches of the texts to develop different theoretical interpretations.

Abstract:
Scholars and enthusiasts of the work of Edward Albee will be pleased to see this new volume of essays edited by Bruce J. Mann, the first critical collection of essays devoted to the playwright in more than fifteen years. Although it would be hard to judge from the past decade, in which Albee has undergone a renaissance of sorts with several new plays and several major revivals on Broadway (starting in 1994 with Three Tall Women, which earned him his third Pulitzer Prize, and ending most recently with The Goat; or, Who Is Sylvia, which won the Tony for best new play in 2002), Albee had previously lapsed in critical and scholarly favor. This volume aims to capitalize on the recent interest in Albee's work by providing a current survey that pays specific attention to his newer plays, as well as his more obscure ones, and also includes new essays on his three classics: The Zoo Story, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and A Delicate Balance. The volume concludes with an interview with the playwright, conducted by Mann in April 1999.

Abstract:
One of the most cited papers in the geological sciences has been that of Albee and Bence on the use of empirical " α -factors" to correct quantitative electron microprobe data. During the past 25 years this method has remained the most commonly used correction for geological samples, despite the facts that few investigators have actually determined empirical α-factors, but instead employ tables of calculated α-factors using one of the conventional "ZAF" correction programs; a number of investigators have shown that the assumption that an α-factor is constant in binary systems where there are large matrix corrections is incorrect (e.g, 2-3); and the procedure’s desirability in terms of program size and computational speed is much less important today because of developments in computing capabilities. The question thus exists whether it is time to honorably retire the Bence-Albee procedure and turn to more modern, robust correction methods. This paper proposes that, although it is perhaps time to retire the original Bence-Albee procedure, it should be replaced by a similar method based on compositiondependent polynomial α-factor expressions.

Abstract:
Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Abstract:
David Crespy's account of Off-Off Broadway's roots in New York City is a welcome addition to a growing body of scholarship on this vibrant period in American theatre history. Many authors writing on this era have limited themselves to focusing on particular theatre groups, such as the Living Theatre, Café Cino, and the Open Theatre, or on the work of specific playwrights, such as Maria Irene Fornés, Sam Shepard, and Edward Albee. More historical accounts are needed to examine a cross section of theatre practitioners in the context of the political and artistic movements of the 1960s. Crespy has managed to do this to some degree, and has even convinced the elusive Edward Albee to write a foreword.

Abstract:
The works of Albee reflected the state of rejection and indignation that invaded the American society in the middle of the last century as manifested in the infiltration of trade forms and industrialization into all fields of life. His first works, including in his play A Delicate Balance Albee focused on the themes of loss and anxiety that the American individual suffered in that period. This paper will try to examine the reasons that drove the main characters in this play to anxiety and loss, and how they lived in complete isolation by their obsession over aging and fear. Also, this paper will touch on the deterioration of relations among family members under the influence of the “American dream” project.

Abstract:
Background: Trochlear dysplasia (TD) is a recognized condition that can become a risk factor for patellofemoral instability. A modified Albee osteotomy procedure using a trapezoidal-shaped wedge to elevate the lateral wall of the trochlea can be used with the goal of preventing further dislocation. However, outcomes studies are lacking, and scores on patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are largely unknown. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to identify PROM scores for the Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale (AKPS), International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Activity Rating System (ARS), and 100-point pain visual analog scale (VAS) for patients having undergone the modified Albee osteotomy. The hypothesis was that patients will have acceptable pain and function at mid- to long-term follow-up. Study Design: Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Methods: From 1999 to 2017, a total of 46 consecutive patients (49 knees) underwent a modified Albee procedure by a single surgeon at a single health care system. These 46 patients were contacted and asked to complete the AKPS, IKDC, ARS, and pain VAS. Additional demographic information was obtained via chart review. Frequencies and rates for categorical variables and means and standard deviations for continuous variables of the demographics and PROM scores were calculated. Results: PROM scores were obtained in 28 (30 knees; 61%) of the 46 patients. At minimum follow-up of 82 months, the mean scores were 78.5 ± 18.2 for AKPS, 61.2 ± 11.4 for IKDC, 5.2 ± 5.3 for ARS, and 24.4 ± 28.7 for VAS pain. Notably, only 1 of the 28 patients reported a patellofemoral dislocation since surgery, and this was an isolated incident without further instability. Conclusion: A modified Albee trochlear osteotomy can be a successful adjunctive procedure to prevent recurrent patellar dislocations in patients with mild TD. However, owing to the loss of one-third of patient follow-up scores and the absence of baseline function scores in this study, the procedure deserves further investigation as a way to address a particularly difficult dilemma for a select subset of patients with patellofemoral instability.

Abstract:
The purpose of this work is to study Edward Albee and K. S. Yatri’s approach regarding the status of respective societies of America and Nepal with absurd drama following their agenda. K. S. Yatri and Edward Albee seemed to be influenced by the absurdist mode of drama which concerns much about the modern existence of social human beings. Albee follows absurdist traces in the dramatization of uncertainty, alienation and the question of freedom in The American Dream. His characters do not have fixed identities, and they suffer from their individual problems. The notion of the characters and their activities too are uncertain. In the same way, the ambiguity of existence, whether the characters really are or not, is a problem for the characters in Atirikta Yatra. The characters are based on illusions, and the line between the reality and fantasy is missing. Alienation of the human being from the self and the other is existential theme that K. S. Yatri deals with in Atirikta Yatra. Alienation in the play is caused by the lack of communication, and as a result, the isolated self is entrapped in Yatri’s characters due to their own condition. Freedom becomes a confusing question in his works as it makes the characters anxious while choosing one option among various others on their own, and it renders the characters responsible for their free choices. Though, two texts belong to divergent space however both show how absurdism has affected individuals and society everywhere at present.
