Abstract:

Abstract:
Ibn al-Nafis is a monumental figure in Islamic scholarship. He wrote a fictional novel entitled “ Al-Risalah al-Kamiliyah fi’l sira al-Nabawiyah” which is translated as “ Theologus autodidactus”. This article does not focus on the content of this book but on the philological persepctive of how this book is edited by Joseph Schacht and Max Meyerhoff. Therefore, the question is whether this book which is edited by these two scholars is based on academic standards or not. Another question is how the editors study this text , particularly their main basis of editing this text.

Abstract:
Muslims researchers make separation between legal traditions (ah}a>dith al-ah}ka>m) documented in theliterature traditions; and historical traditions (ah}ad> ith al-sira) are summarized in the literature of classicalIslamic historiography. But it turns out in a number of Sirah literature, there are some traditions ofAhk} am found. In contras, in the h}adith literatures, there are also found historical tradition. From here,it can be stated that the tradition has three dimensions at once; historical dimension, categorized ashadith Sirah; juridical dimension, identified as hadith Ahk} am; and historical and juridical dimension aswell. For this latter form, the hadith can be flexible and conditional, in the sense that when it is containedin the literature historiography, categorized as h}adith Sirah, and vice versa, as contained in the Hadithliterature in the form of juridical -dogmatic,- it is categorized as a hadith al-Ah}ka>m. Therefore, thehadith sira patterned in two functions; justification prophetic treatise (dala’> il Nabawiyya); and juridical -dogmatic arguments (dala>’il diniyyah). These two functions are the implications of the concept ofimitation of the Prophet as an integral whole, because its realization as a model of humanity , philosophicallycould not limited by space and time. Life events and behaviors Nabawiyya being operatedfrom childhood until the prophetic, always maintained from disobedience (‘ismah) , in addition to alsoendowed a number of advantages , as a sign that he is a ‘candidate’ prophets and apostles (irha>s)

Abstract:
Abstract. Accurate estimation of the low-flow discharge is very important in evaluating the impact of climate change on water resources. This study focuses on the storage–discharge equation and the optimal parameters of the low flow. In order to investigate the sensitivity of the two parameters in the process of the calculation of low flow, we prepared 19 900 sets of the two parameters in the storage–discharge equation and carried out hydrological analysis using the hourly hydrological model presented by Fujimura et al. (2012). The study basins are the Sameura Dam basin (SAME basin) located in western Japan which has variability of rainfall, and the Shirakawa Dam basin (SIRA basin) located in a region of heavy snowfall in eastern Japan. The period of available hydrological data is 20 years for the SAME basin and 10 years for the SIRA basin. The results suggest that the optimal combination of two parameters can be identified by exponential equations. This study also estimates the annual water balance for the two basins based on hydrological analysis using the optimal parameters in the storage–discharge equation of low flow.

Abstract:
This paper studies Qur’anic verses being the sabab al-wurud of hadiths (verses that became the background or accompany the birth of certain hadith reports). Examining hadith literatures, this paper argues that such existing connection between the Qur’an and hadith emphasizes the central position of the Prophet as the “exegete” of the Qur’an, e it in the form of sayings, actions or affirmation. The records can be traced in commentaries of the Qur’an (tafsir bi al-ma’thur), hadith literatures and sira. Kata kunci: asba>b wuru>d, ayat-ayat al-Qur’an, hadis.

Abstract:
Reports relating supernatural events - or miracles - in the life of the Prophet Muhammad (d. 11/632) have been traditionally either ignored by those modern scholars attempting to determine the historicity of the source material or have been studied piecemeal in an attempt to determine their origins by those scholars who see them as secondary additions. The current study will examine both the sira/ta'rikh, the story of Muhammad's life as told within larger works of universal history, and tafsir, exegetical, works of two medieval Muslim scholars, al-Tabari (d.310/923) and Ibn Kathir (d.773/1373), to attempt to determine how the reports of the supernatural fit into the story of Muhammad's life as a whole.
Until now, the study of the biography f muhammad was confined either to a historicist perspective, stemming from the epistemological horizon of the xixth century, or to an apologetic perspective, resumed soon after the movements of national liberation. Whether evervalued or underestimated, this biography only served as a place for a debate about the document. The choice of the text dealing with muhammad's childhood and of a reading method careful to the "signification" of the historical work (semiotics), was necessarily to lead to different results

Abstract:
This chapter examines the emergence of colloquial Arabic poetry as populist-political commentary in Egypt by offering a reading of Mahmud Bayram al-Tunisi's series of texts, which figured political contestation in the thematic-formal mould of the sira shaʻbiyya. It first provides an overview of the sira shaʻbiyya (folk epic, folk romance) before discussing at least four Bayramic sira compositions, all of which narrate the Turkish–Greek conflict over possession of Asia Minor in the context of postwar intra-European negotiations for neocolonial primacy. The texts, labelled ‘Sira Kemaliyya’, chronicle the conflict between Greece and Turkey in 1919–1922, highlighted by the exploits of Turkish ‘epic hero’ and nationalist leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The chapter explains how Bayram manages the duality of heroic posturing as a heavy-handed colonialist tactic versus the effective heroism of Mustafa Kemal.

Abstract:
This chapter is a response to questions from the students about the previous chapter on ‘Human Rights and Reformist Islam’. These issues are discussed in this chapter: the comparison of ratified rulings (ahkam imdha’i) and conventions of reasonable people (sira al-‘uqala), human rights: an achievement of contemporary humans, reasons for the lack of explicit expression of the temporary in changeable rulings, two forms of human knowledge about divine religion and human rights, homosexuality and human rights, and finally the rights of Baha’is. Human rights are not related to religion, sect, thought or belief. There is no valid religious argument for the prevention of Baha’is from human rights, citizenship rights, and basic civil rights or considering them as impure (najis). From the author’s perspective, there is no punishment for LGBT sexual orientation on one hand, and no discrimination of LGBT people is accepted in the public domain regarding non-sexual affairs on the other hand. Reformist Islam has not come across sufficient documentation for accepting homosexuality as a particular human right. It believes the only shari‘a premised sexual relationship is defined between a female and male under legal marriage.
