Abstract:
Using Ajzen's theory of planned behavior, behavioral intentions, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control were assessed for 24 high and for 29 low self-monitors. In addition, behavior (attendance at class lectures) was unobtrusively recorded. Intentions were best predicted by attitudes of the low and by subjective norms of the high self-monitoring groups. Low self-monitors' overt behavior was predicted by intentions, and high self-monitors' behavior by the interaction of intention × perceived behavioral control.

The purpose of this study was to test the psychometric properties of a scale to assess perceived behavioral control developed according to a multiplicative procedure. Based upon Ajzen's theory of planned behavior, belief-based and global measures of perceived behavioral control and intention to continue with the Certificate program in Law until graduation were assessed among a group of 217 students. Analyses indicated that the psychometric properties of the perceived behavioral control multiplicative scale were appropriate.

Abstract:
Fishbein and Ajzen's theory of reasoned action has been used by many researchers, particularly in regard to health communication, to predict behavioral intentions and behavior. According to that theory, one's intention is the best predictor that one will engage in a behavior, and attitudes and social norms predict behavioral intentions. Other researchers have added different variables to the postulates of attitudes and social norms that Fishbein and Ajzen maintain are the best predictors of behavioral intention. Here we draw on data from a 2006 telephone survey (N=420) gauging the awareness of an organ donation campaign in Northeast Ohio to examine the impact of communication on people's intentions. The current study supports the hypothesis that those who communicate with others are more likely to express a greater willingness to become an organ donor, but it expands the range of communication contexts. With demographics and attitudes toward organ donation controlled for, this study shows that communication with others about organ donation increases the willingness of individuals to have favorable attitudes about being an organ donor.

Abstract:
The Recording Industry Association of America claims to lose millions of dollars each year from music piracy (RIAA, 2007). However, instead of causing loss, digital music piracy may activate norms of reciprocity in music pirates. When pirating music, people may feel some obligation to reciprocate by purchasing music or related merchandise. The theory of planned behavior was used to investigate such a possibility and to provide a framework for scale development. Reliable scales were developed for all measured constructs. Regarding piracy, the RIAAs claim may have some merit. Specifically, previous piracy was associated with decreased reported likelihood to purchase music. However, previous piracy was associated with increased intent to make future music-related purchases. Reciprocity partially mediated this relationship.

Abstract:
[Truncated abstract] Current literature about university teaching argues that online teaching requires online social learning based on social interaction to be effective. This implies a shift in pedagogy based on engagement and collaboration, instead of trying to reproduce face-to- face teaching, in online environments. However, when a university adopts an elearning platform (or Learning Management System, LMS), most teachers tend to reproduce their traditional teaching, delivering, through the LMS, educational material. This study explored factors which influence university teachers to adopt teaching models based on online social interaction (OSI) when an e-learning platform is used to complement undergraduate classroom teaching. Online teaching model adoption was considered in the framework of technology adoption and post-adoption behavior, i.e., adoption and use by individuals after an organization has adopted an ICT-based innovation (Jasperson, Carter, & Zmud, 2005). Behaviors were investigated using a model based on Ajzen's (1991) Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). In total, 26 university teachers 15 from Australia and 11 from Italy holding undergraduate courses, were recruited. They responded to a semi-structured interview based on the TPB, built on purpose for this research. Teachers were divided into three different groups on the basis of their approach to online teaching, corresponding to three different levels of adoption of OSI. The three different online teaching models were:

Abstract:
Examining teachers' attitudes/perceptions and their influence on behaviour can be an important step in understanding the psychosocial factors affecting teachers' use of Information and Communication Technology in teaching. This study attempted to provide such an understanding by elaborating Ajzen's theory of planned behaviour (TPB), a widely applied psychosocial theory in modeling behaviours. Basically, TPB explains a behaviour as a consequence of attitude towards the behaviour, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control. These three direct factors of TPB are, in turn, influenced by salient beliefs or indirect factors: behavioural, normative, and control beliefs, respectively. In this study, the TPB was modified by (1) decomposing each of the three types of beliefs into two dimensions respectively, and (2) incorporating external variables – age, sex, subject taught, teaching experience, teaching period, qualification, level of class, classroom access, and computer laboratory access. Using these predictor variables, an Information and Communication Technology Use Model (ICTUM) was developed for assessment and comparison in performance with the TPB. Using a survey questionnaire, data were collected from a total of 1,040 secondary school teachers in eighteen government schools in Negara Brunei Darussalam. Structural equation modeling, using AMOS 5.0 software, was employed as the major statistical analytic technique for a series of data analyses: measurement model assessment for validity and reliability tests; and assessments of the models, ICTUM and TPB. The proposed model, ICTUM, was found to fit only marginally and the modification efforts through beliefs decomposition and external variables incorporation provided only a small increase in the amounts of variance explained by the predictor variables. However, the TPB model of direct factors was found to be a good-fitting model showing attitude towards behaviour, and perceived behavioural control; as predictors of intention; and intention as a stronger predictor of use of ICT than perceived behavioural control. By demonstrating the significance of those factors as predictors of intention and use of ICT, this study suggests that augmenting teachers' positive attitudes towards the use of ICT and supporting them technically and personally could encourage teachers to increase the use of ICT in their teaching. This study also suggested a need for future research on the direct influence of salient beliefs on intention, and behaviour (use of ICT) respectively. Although the TPB model is theoretically and statistically justifiable, further testing with different samples is required. Through its use of a theoretical and statistical modeling approach, the current study represents an initial step towards uncovering fundamental mechanisms that explain teacher use of ICT in teaching.

Abstract:
A review of the literature on Person Perception, as it relates to addiction, is given. Experiment 1 quantified people's subjective impressions of smokers, heavy drinkers, and heroin users, in terms of an empirically devised framework. The experiment also examined the impact of personal information (i. e a photograph) upon impression formation. It was found that, in the absence of a photogragh, heroin users were perceived as being dangerous. A review of the literature on stereotyping was carried out. Experiment 11 examined the lower limits of stereotyping heroin users as being dangerous. This experiment was conducted within the context of Tajfel's interpersonal-intergroup continuum. The findings were that, minimal personal information coupled with dissimilarities in personal values, resulted in stereotypic perceptions of heroin users whereas, responses to a personalized presentation with similar values, were more differentiated. The implications of stereotype beliefs about heroin users in the area of drug education is discussed. A review of the fear appeal literature is given. Experiment 111 examined the relative effectiveness of a fear appeal and a social appeal in influencing current heroin users' attitudes and intentions with regards to using heroin. This examination was systematically investigated within the context of Fishbein and Ajzen's theory of reasoned action and their model of persuasive communication. It was found that, (i) heroin use is under attitudinal control, (ii) current heroin users hold a health belief structure and a social belief structure associated with the consequences of using heroin, and (iii) both the fear appeal and the social appeal had an effect on attitudes and intentions with regard to heroin use. Experiments IV and V examined the lay public and ex-heroin users' opinions regarding the relative effectiveness of emphasising health factors or social factors in attempts to influence heroin taking decisions. The findings revealed there to be a disagreement between the two groups. The lay public were of the firm opinion that emphasis should be placed an health factors. On the other hand, exheroin users regarded social factors as being more influential. The wider implications of these findings, in terms of drug evaluation studies, are highlighted.

Abstract:
This study investigates the determinants that influence adult Kentuckians’ preference to buy organic and/or locally grown food based on their age, gender, income, education level and metropolitan versus nonmetropolitan living status. Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior (TPB) provides the conceptual framework of the research and the appropriateness of the theory. Data for this analysis are from a 2009 Kentucky statewide survey. The analysis shows that: There is a significant difference in food purchasing habits of Metropolitan and Nonmetropolitan adult Kentuckians; the factors associated with the purchase of organic and locally grown foods are different; and, those who purchased locally grown and organic foods shared similar beliefs.

This work seeks to present the Theory of Planned Behavior - Icek Ajzen TPB and check if the model study of the attitudes of Ajzen may contribute to explain the choices of undergraduates by determined educational brand. To this end we presented general theories of collaboration with attitudes of the concepts of Motivation and Human Needs and the changing concepts of the Theory of Reasoned Action to the theory of Planned Behavior. The Brazilian context demonstrates an increasing competitiveness, from the appearance of new Courses and Colleges between 2002 and 2010. This growth has increased the number of vacancies and decreased the number of students enrolled in each College. In this sense, it is necessary to know the aspects that direct students to choose the Higher Education Institution - IES. In order to verify the behavior of the students and the attitude influences in their decisions, the managers' perception of the IES and if the variables used as the planned behavior model proposed by Ajzen are sufficient to get statistically significant results, we applied an unstructured research with managers and IES Alpha managers and students entering, following the model proposed by Ajzen with some adaptations to the case study and the Brazilian standard. After analyzing the data with SPSS software, it was noticed that among the 36 initial variables, only 9 had statistically significant correlations, which identifies for student engagement with the Course and the Faculty, the relationship between price and brand and great family influence over their attitudes to advertising. However, the exclusion of key variables for the attitudes model study of Ajzen, there was an unfeasibility of its application. Thus, it was found that the most important components for students, differ from Administrative Management of Institutions of Higher Education, which may result in an incorrect application of its communication to attract prospective students

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to investigate the factors that impact on Egyptian consumers' attitudes and intentions to use online shopping by integrating the technology acceptance models of Davis, and Fishbein and Ajzen's theory of reasoned action. In addition, other variables will be added such as trust and perceived enjoyment for its theoretical framework. A total 306 current internet users in Egypt provided usable responses. Structural equation modelling was employed to test the proposed model and research hypotheses. The findings showed that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust and perceived enjoyment were the significant predictors of attitude toward online shopping; whereas, attitude, perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment were the most important factors affect the behavioural intention toward online shopping. The article provides some useful suggestions for the practitioners within the online shopping field.

Patient incident reporting is an important way to promote safer health care. The barriers for reporting can be organizational (leadership, culture, lack of feedback, etc.) or individual (time pressure, perceived competence, attitude, etc.). In this study, we examined what kinds of ICT-related incidents health professionals observe in Finland, how they react to them and the reasons for non-reporting. Our data was collected using a nationwide survey during the Spring of 2020. The theory of planned behaviour by Ajzen served as our framework for explaining non-reporting behaviour. While we found that attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control all explain non-reporting, our factor model based on our confirmatory factor analysis did not directly match Ajzen’s theory.

This chapter is about the way in which computer hackers invoke social networking paradigms to support and encourage their activities. It reviews the evolution of hacking as a form of social networking, from its roots in Bulletin Board systems to the current attacks on Second Life, and considers the motivation for hacking. Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior and Beveren’s Flow Theory model are, when considered together, found to explain many of the observed characteristics of early hacker activity. The place of social networks in motivating hacking is explored, and some observations are made in relation to hacking and the Second Life environment. A number of control variables are identified which can be used to reduce the likelihood of people engaging in the hacking activity. Addressing the social network factors which motivate hacking provides an important early step in addressing cybercrime.

Abstract:
Marketing incremental and radical innovations to consumers in different nations requires an understanding of the influence of their national culture, socioeconomic, and demographic variables (Everdingen & Warts, 2003). The innovation adoption process involves innovative and imitative consumer behavior (Rogers 1962, 2003; Bass, 1969; Norton & Bass, 1987). The consumer behavior of adoption of innovations can be predicted from their attitude towards the adoption, perceived behavioral control, social influence, and subjective norms, which are part of the national culture (Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980; Ajzen, 1985, 1991). For multiple generations of the same product, innovation adoption and substitution occurs simultaneously. An integrated, multi-generation diffusion model has been developed that considers a dynamic market potential with a competitive relationship among generations and products (Kreng & Wang, 2013). The Hofstede framework of national culture is the most widely used cultural framework to explain the consequences of culture for global marketing, branding, and advertising (Hofstede, et al., 2010; Mooij & Hofstede, 2010, 2011; Rinnie & Fairweather, 2012). The purpose of this chapter is to summarize the current understanding about creating a culturally sensitive marketing intervention strategy including price, competition, and substitution for the diffusion of innovations using Hofstede's six dimensions of national culture.

Abstract:
The promotion of entrepreneurial intention in educational contexts is a priority that is increasingly present in academic planning, especially at university level. Furthermore, social entrepreneurship has been gaining prominence not only as a formula for improving the welfare and equity of society as a whole, but also as a mechanism for professional development. Taking into account both aspects, this paper analyzes the effect of university students participating in volunteer activities on their intention to carry out social entrepreneurship projects. With this objective, this study is based on the Theory of Planned Action of Ajzen. A sample of 208 university students was analyzed, 96 of whom had some experience of volunteering. The results confirm that taking part in volunteering, during students’ education, positively affects their intention to start social entrepreneurship projects. This result allows us to conclude that encouraging volunteering could be a good methodological tool to promote social entrepreneurship within the educational field. In addition, the implementation of this type of social project could benefit university students not only by making social improvements to their environment, but also as a labor insertion tool.
