Abstract:
Rural Credit Bank of Giritontro District (BPR BKK Giritontro) is a financial institution engaged in savings and loans in the Giritontro District of Wonogiri. BPR BKK's customers provide collateral when applying for loans, and once the loans are repaid, the collateral is returned. However, the current collateral retrieval process at BPR BKK Giritontro is done manually through recording in a logbook maintained by administrative staff, leading to issues such as vulnerable and easily lost storage media. Additionally, there can be delays in the retrieval process if the administrative staff is absent, as only they have access to the storage cabinet key. The logbook system also hinders data search efficiency for collateral retrieval verification. This research aims to develop an information system for customer collateral retrieval to assist the administrative department in managing collateral retrieval. The author adopts the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) waterfall model for system development and utilizes PHP programming language and MySQL database for the information system implementation.

Abstract:
Optimization of task scheduling and information storage/retrieval is crucial for managing resource utilization, which enhances system performance and ultimately impacts provider productivity and customer satisfaction. Efficient task scheduling aims to optimize computing time, while efficient information management focuses on maximizing memory usage. This paper presents a novel approach to task scheduling using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) to improve time-critical objectives such as makespan and network latency, while maintaining balanced load distribution across systems. By enhancing makespan, we aim to maximize CPU utilization, and by optimizing information storage/retrieval, we target minimizing network latency. Performance across these multiple objectives is achieved by modifying the heuristic and visibility functions to guide ants toward specific solutions. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, Resource-Aware Load-Balancing for Time-Critical Applications (RALB-TCA), is demonstrated through implementation in the CloudSim simulation platform and benchmarking against existing techniques.

Abstract:
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) uncovers a new learning space for students to start their learning in multidisciplinary subjects and provides an enormous storage for different types of learning materials. This brings not only the ease and flexibility to our learning, but also the challenges in organizing, managing, and controlling of information which is indispensable to the design of an effective online learning system. In particular, Music Information Retrieval (MIR) is an interdisciplinary science on the process of retrieving information from music related resources. Due to the unique application characteristics and various forms of music, appropriate design and application of metadata plays an important role for the MIR in such a Content Management System (CMS) as it would affect the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of the music information retrieval process. In this paper, the authors propose their ontology-based metadata scheme to address such requirements of a music VLE, based on the Dublin Core with modifications according to specific nature of the music learning materials. The metadata design of music resources aims to support students' daily music learning by providing instant and appropriate learning materials which enables cross-collection searching and enhances the sustainability of the contents over time.

Abstract:
This work aims to propose a system for the Algerian Fatawa House in orderto facilitate the task of the Expert Mufti who is responsible of giving fatawa for Algerian people inquiries. In fact, as this house is recent and does not have sufficient human resources, it is difficult to satisfy all inquiries coming daily, this leads the askers to wait for a long time before getting answers. The proposed system allows the askers to express concerns they may have. By using a case-based reasoning mechanism combined with ontology domain, the system tries to retrieve similar cases from the knowledge base. In the casewhere the response already exists, the system immediately provides the answer to the askers. Otherwise, an inquery is automatically formulated and sent to the expert Mufti-which is a certified scholar-in order either to validate the generated response by the system or give a new answer. Such a question-answering system may be very helpful for askers to get their answers faster since it allows both the storage of previous <em>fatawas</em> and their retrieval for processing coming inquiries. To validate our proposal, we rely on <em>fatawas</em> concerning the Islamic finance and banking transactions domain. Overall, the results are encouraging and satisfactory.

Abstract:
<p>Distributed storage systems play a pivotal role in modern data-intensive applications, with Hadoop distributed file system (HDFS) being a prominent example. However, optimizing the efficiency of such systems remains a complex challenge. This research paper presents a novel approach to enhance the efficiency of distributed storage by leveraging multi-agent systems (MAS). Our research is centered on enhancing the efficiency of the HDFS by incorporating intelligent agents that can dynamically assign storage tasks to nodes based on their performance characteristics. Utilizing a decentralized decision-making framework, the suggested approach based on MAS considers the real-time performance of nodes and allocates storage tasks adaptively. This strategy aims to alleviate performance bottlenecks and minimize data transfer latency. Through extensive experimental evaluation, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in improving HDFS performance in terms of data storage, retrieval, and overall system efficiency. The results reveal significant reductions in job execution times and enhanced resource utilization, there by offering a promising avenue for enhancing the efficiency of distributed storage systems.</p>

Abstract:
Every museum generates a considerable amount of printed and graphic ephemeral material, which provides first-hand information on its permanent exhibitions and temporary activities. These can be exhibition brochures, didactic material, activity announcements, cards, etc. and they are frequently the only source of direct information on the active life of the organisation which precisely reflects its public image. However, few museums are devoting effort to preserving this material, whose retention is not always guaranteed. This paper aims to establish a classification of the different types of ephemeral publications common in museums (informative, educational, commercial, of internal use, etc). It sets forth an elementary system for dealing with them which, by using the MARC format (in those libraries using a standardised system) or a database in ACCESS (for those lacking one), should result in the establishment of a secure system for storage, retrieval and diffusion of this data.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to delineate the process of evolution of knowledge organization systems (KOSs) through identification of principles of unity such as internal and external unity in organizing the structure of KOSs to achieve content storage and retrieval purposes and to explain a novel method used in ranking of KOSs by proposing the principle of rank unity. Different types of KOSs which are addressed in this article include dictionaries, Roget’s thesaurus, thesauri, micro, macro, and meta-thesaurus, ontologies, and lower, middle, and upper-level ontologies. This article relied on dialectic models to clarify the ideas in Kant’s knowledge theory. This is done by identifying logical relationships between categories (i.e., Thesis, antithesis, and synthesis) in the creation of data, information, and knowledge in the human mind. The Analysis has adapted a historical methodology, more specifically a documentary method, as its reasoning process to propose a conceptual model for ranking KOSs. The study endeavors to explain the main elements of data, information, and knowledge along with engineering mechanisms such as data, information, and knowledge engineering in developing the structure of KOSs and also aims to clarify their influence on content storage and retrieval performance. KOSs have followed related principles of order to achieve an internal order, which could be examined by analyzing the principle of internal unity in knowledge organizations. The principle of external unity leads us to the necessity of compatibility and interoperability between different types of KOSs to achieve semantic harmonization in increasing the performance of content storage and retrieval. Upon introduction of the principle of rank unity, a ranking method of KOSs utilizing cognition states as criteria could be considered to determine the position of each knowledge organization with respect to others. The related criteria of the principle of rank unity- cognition states- are derived from Immanuel Kant’s epistemology. The research results showed that KOSs, while having defined positions in cognition states, specific principles of order, related operational mechanisms, and related principles of unity in achieving their specific purposes, have benefited from the developmental experiences of previous KOSs, and further, their developmental processes owe to the experiences and methods of their previous generations.

Abstract:
Over the last two decades, ROOT TTree has been used for storing over one exabyte of High-Energy Physics (HEP) events. The TTree columnar on-disk layout has been proved to be ideal for analyses of HEP data that typically require access to many events, but only a subset of the information stored for each of them. Future colliders, and particularly HL-LHC, will bring an increase of at least one order of magnitude in the volume of generated data. Therefore, the use of modern storage hardware, such as low-latency high-bandwidth NVMe devices and distributed object stores, becomes more important. However, TTree was not designed to optimally exploit modern hardware and may become a bottleneck for data retrieval. The ROOT RNTuple I/O system aims at overcoming TTree’s limitations and at providing improved effciency for modern storage systems. In this paper, we extend RNTuple with a backend that uses Intel DAOS as the underlying storage, demonstrating that the RNTuple architecture can accommodate high-performance object stores. From the user perspective, data can be accessed with minimal changes to the code, that is by replacing a filesystem path by a DAOS URI. Our performance evaluation shows that the new backend can be used for realistic analyses, while outperforming the compatibility solution provided by the DAOS project.

Abstract:
AbstractWith the growing amount of research projects in the field of interventional radiology, storing and organizing the patients' data and information effectively is becoming more difficult. Existing hospital electronic medical record and archiving systems store patient information in the form of reports which put the physicians and researchers in a situation where they have to use time-consuming manual search through reports for suitable patients for different clinical researches. Spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel® (Microsoft, Washington, USA) are often used as a data storage, which has limitations in both organization and the quality of the data. Higher risk of incorrect data entry and introducing duplicates are associated with data input and analysis without a database system. Furthermore, selection, as well as calculation of data, is time-consuming. This article aims to provide interventionists with an efficient data collection tool optimized for interventional oncology clinical research. The implementation of the current database and interface allows a much faster and more detailed retrospective analysis of patient cohorts. The database management system with an interface is a very time-efficient and robust tool that provides a significant edge over the manual retrieval of patient records by filtering data and assisting statistical analysis in a study-relevant fashion.

This article aims to shed light on the decisive and influential role of the learner’s mental functioning in the process of learning and acquiring the tools of philosophical thinking, which are mainly represented in problematization, conceptialization, and argumention. Philosophical thinking, as a rational and conscious thinking, requires the learner to acquire and employ a set of skills such as: questioning, criticism and argumentation, analysis and synthesis, abstraction and generalization. However, the acquisition and employment of these various skills inevitably depends on his ability to process information; Attention, selection, storage, retrieval, and use. Accordingly, it has become necessary for the philosophy teacher to understand the nature of the learner’s cognitive functioning and mental activity, which the cognitive and emotional dimensions are mixed in a dynamic unit that cannot be separated or divided. Despite the importance of memory systems in the process of processing information, severe emotional pressures, such as anxiety and stress, can paralyze the ability of the memory system and hinder its performance of its functions, which negatively affects the process of learning and acquiring the tools of philosophical thinking and its basic competencies

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has paved the way for innovative approaches to collecting and managing medical data. With the large and sensitive medical data being processed hence, the need for a strong identity and privacy become necessary. The present paper suggests a comprehensive method of PriMedGuard which aims at protection of the personal medical information. The first stage will be data collection from devices and sensors, then data cleaning to transform the data into the required format. There is also a safety system in the system that registers and authenticates authorized entities as well as ETDO (Enhanced Tasmanian Devil Optimization algorithm) is used for generating asymmetric cryptographic keys. The data is encrypted using the Secure Bit-Count Transmutation (SBCT) Data Encryption Algorithm and then put in the locations provided by the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a decentralized and distributed storage system. Abstract:
Internet of things (IoT) aims at bringing together large business enterprise solutions and architectures for handling the huge amount of data generated by millions of devices. For this aim, IoT is necessary to connect various devices and provide a common platform for storage and retrieval of information without fail. However, the success of IoT depends on the novelty of network and its capability in sustaining the increasing demand by users. In this paper, a self-aware communication architecture (SACA) is proposed for sustainable networking over IoT devices. The proposed approach employs the concept of mobile fog servers which make relay using the train and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks. The problem is presented based on Wald’s maximum model, which is resolved by the application of a distributed node management (DNM) system and state dependency formulations. The proposed approach is capable of providing prolonged connectivity by increasing the network reliability and sustainability even in the case of failures. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through numerical and network simulations in terms of significant gains attained with lesser delay and fewer packet losses. The proposed approach is also evaluated against Sybil, wormhole, and DDoS attacks for analyzing its sustainability and probability of connectivity in unfavorable conditions.

Abstract:
Abstract: Budgeting is an component of managerial accounting. During this process, companies decide how much money they will set aside for future goals and development. The organization will develop an effective budget for the firm as a result of this approach. The major objective of the budget is to develop the business and reduce the amount of misallocation of resources and expenses, and most organizations fail in this process. This research paper presents the design and implementation of a simplified budget allocation system for a college. The project aims to provide a foundational understanding of budget allocation processes and serves as a starting point for more complex and robust systems. The system, developed in Java, simulates a basic backend for a college budget allocation process. It allows users to allocate budgets to different departments, retrieve budget information for specific departments, and view a summary of all budget allocations. While the system does not include a full-fledged backend with a database, it provides insights into the core functionalities required for budget management. The system's core functionalities are implemented within the "CollegeBudgetSystem" class, which employs in-memory data structures to manage budget allocations. Users can interact with the system through a text-based command-line interface, performing actions such as allocating budgets, retrieving budget information, and printing budget summaries. While this project serves as a basic prototype, real-world budget allocation systems in educational institutions would require a more sophisticated architecture. Future research and development could focus on integrating a database for secure data storage, implementing user authentication and authorization, and creating web-based or mobile-friendly user interfaces. This research paper contributes to the understanding of budget management in educational institutions and provides a foundation for building more comprehensive budget allocation systems tailored to the specific needs and complexities of colleges and universities

Abstract:
The Integrated Service Center for Women and Children Empowerment (P2TP2A) in Boalemo Regency is an institution that provides services to the community in cases of Domestic Violence (KDRT). The issue that arises is the lack of public knowledge about KDRT and its handling. It is important to continuously educate the community about the negative consequences of domestic violence and the importance of supporting victims and preventing such violence. With increased awareness and community participation, it is hoped that domestic violence can be minimized and eliminated, creating a safe and harmonious environment for all family members. Cases of KDRT continue to occur without being realized by the community and are rarely reported to the Center for Domestic Violence Services (PLKB) due to a lack of information on how to report KDRT cases to the PLKB. Most people feel that the complaint service is limited to reporting without any follow-up process. The research objective is to design an information system that provides information about KDRT as a means of socialization to the community and assists the community in reporting KDRT cases easily and flexibly through Android smartphones. The system analysis method used in this research is the Research and Development (R&D) method, which aims to produce a specific product and test its effectiveness. This application is developed using Java and PHP programming languages, with MySQL as the database for data storage. The system utilizes web service techniques to retrieve data from the server. The result of this research is an application of an information system that facilitates the presentation of information about KDRT through Android smartphones, equipped with online reporting features, and can map the location of the reporter to facilitate follow-up actions by the PLKB. The calculation results show that the Cyclomatic Complexity (CC) = 2 and V (G) = 2, indicating that the system is effective and efficient. The system implementation can be done on Android version 10.0 (Q), version 9.0 (Pie), and version 8.0 (Oreo).

Abstract:
In the latest years, CNAF (the national center of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics INFN dedicated to Research and Development on Information and Communication Technologies) has been working on the Long Term Data Preservation (LTDP) project for the CDF experiment, active at Fermilab from 1990 to 2011. The main aims of the project are to protect the most relevant part of the CDF RUN-2 data collected between 2001 and 2011 and already stored on tape at CNAF (4 PB), as well as to ensure the availability and the access to the analysis facility to those data over time. Lately, the CDF database, hosting information about CDF datasets such as their structure, file locations and metadata, has been imported from Fermilab to CNAF. Also, the Sequential Access via Metadata (SAM) station data handling tool for CDF data management, that allows to manage data transfers and to retrieve information from the CDF database, has been properly installed and configured at CNAF. This was a fundamental step in the perspective of a complete decommissioning of CDF services on Fermilab side. An access system has been designed and tested to submit CDF analysis jobs, using CDF software distributed via CERN Virtual Machine File System (CVMFS) and requesting delivery of CDF files stored on CNAF tapes, as well as data present only on Fermilab storage archive. Moreover, the availability and the correctness of all CDF data stored on CNAF tapes has been verified. This paper describes all these recent evolutions in detail, presenting the future plans for the LTDP project at CNAF.

Full text
Abstract:
An integrated framework of biological taxonomy (IFBT) is proposed, in which the advantages of phylogenetic taxonomy and traditional, Linnaean nomenclature, together with the temporal banding methods (Hennig, 1966; Avise & Johns, 1999) are synthesized, without deteriorating the strength of theoretical coherence. The IFBT aims at achieving a completely rank-free reference system of the organismal group in question (i.e., phylogenetic arrangements of the names of clades as parts of timetrees); here, the whole area (all taxon names) of a reference system is called “general domain”, while its part (basic clade names) is called “particular domain”. Thus, the major task of IFBT is to precisely give names to those clades whose times of evolutionary origin are known; here, the categories of evolutionary clades that I recognize are “basic clade”, “holoclade” and “synclade”. Taxon names with standard endings can be used as components of a rank-free system created under the IFBT, when we interpret those taxon names as “meaningless symbols” under the Millian philosophy of language. Thus, introducing the method of using “names with standard endings” into the present clade nomenclature is logically possible. That is, by adopting the temporal bands of geological episodes (non-standard; standard) as the unique criteria for assigning the standard endings to some clade names in naming clades, we name the clades, so that we can create a particular domain of reference system that takes basically the same style as the Linnaean system (of taxon names), in that taxon names with standard endings are arranged in a hierarchical manner. The particular domain can be created by giving “names with standard endings” only to basic clades, out of the clades whose origins are located in one particular temporal band. The reference system is first reconciled with the evolutionary world view, because the taxon names precisely refer only to clades; and second, it also functions well as a convenient system for information storage and retrieval, because the mutual exclusivity of taxon names with standard endings in the particular domain is certain. The best way of practicing the IFBT at the present time is to create only the particular domain, by naming only the basic clades (extant, extinct), using non-standard temporal banding method. The IFBT can construct the particular domains of (rank-free) reference systems, upon the particular Linnaean (ranked) systems of clade names. The IFBT is proposed as the new framework for future biological taxonomy.

Abstract:
Background: Digitization of healthcare data has led to widespread healthcare transformation. This has been enhanced by the availability of new technologies at lower costs. Video recording can improve the quality of care, provider skills, education, and patient follow-up. However, limitations such as the risk of litigation, patient privacy, and poor legal framework have curtailed adoption. Rural hospitals have older analog equipment due to limited financial resources. Objectives: This study aims to present an alternative low-cost option. Methods: We present an economical method of recording and digitizing endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures performed on analog video processing towers. We showcase a video of the step-by-step procedure that involves connecting a digital video home system (VHS) video recorder to an analog Olympus endoscopy machine (Model CV-100) and transferring media via a portable storage device to an electronic medical record database. Conclusion: Using simple home video recording devices provides a low-cost solution to creating digital records from analog video endoscopic machines. The technique, however, creates additional steps to the endoscopy process and the need for capacity building of the endoscopist. Patient consent forms should cover video creation. Medical centers should have a robust information management system to securely store and retrieve digitized video records.

Abstract:
Abstract Smart mobility represents the future for many of today’s cities and is part of the smart city concept. Besides all its characteristics, the smart city concept aims to use the IoT (Internet of Things) technology to improve the citizens quality of life through a secure and efficient administration of city resources. The exponential growth of population and urbanization creates many challenges, especially from a mobility perspective. The main challenge in this direction is to ensure a sustainable transportation system. The objective of this paper is to present a survey on the sustainability assurance for smart mobility systems by using the blockchain technology. Moreover, this study proposes a conceptual model for a sustainable smart mobility system that implies the usage of blockchain technology. Widely known through its connection with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, blockchain can serve the safety and security requirements that are specific to intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The main advantage of this technology is the capability to face against several security threats by storing securely the information. This approach will streamline and secure the sensors networks data handling by the TMCs (Traffic Monitoring Centers). The process of these data handling is challenging because of possible exposure to cyber-attacks that can lead for example to erroneous traffic lights phases and green-interval settings in crossroads. The conclusions will be issued based on a comparison with the current IoT approaches for ensuring the secure storage of traffic data retrieved from sensors networks.

Abstract:
Land forgery is predominant in India, the project aims to eliminate forgery activities while selling and buying the land with the guideline value. The money transaction made during the purchase of property majorly contributes to the black money problem in our country. To overcome this black money rotation and land forgery, both the Buyer and Seller has to register the land with their Aadhaar card to verify the genuineness of them. While verifying, if the system identifies any criminal cases filed against the buyer or seller or the land acquired by the seller is not authorized, it blocks the transaction. The process involves of document unique verification, legal activity verification and black money tracking, all the data are maintained in Hbase database and then integrated and stored in HDFS file storage. Map Reduce programming model is used to retrieve required information from big amount of data at a faster rate. If there are no such issues on the buyer and the seller. The overall transaction amount between the buyer and seller is finally referred to the Income Tax Department. If any illegal activity is detected in the transaction, the alert is sent to the Income Tax department and police officials so that the registration is blocked and black money rotation could be avoided.

Abstract:
Combustible tobacco use remains the number-one preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States. Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), which include electronic cigarettes, are devices capable of delivering nicotine in an aerosolized form. ENDS use by both adults and youth has increased rapidly, and some have advocated these products could serve as harm-reduction devices and smoking cessation aids. ENDS may be beneficial if they reduce smoking rates or prevent or reduce the known adverse health effects of smoking. However, ENDS may also be harmful, particularly to youth, if they increase the likelihood that nonsmokers or former smokers will use combustible tobacco products or if they discourage smokers from quitting. The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recognize the potential ENDS have to alter patterns of tobacco use and affect the health of the public; however, definitive data are lacking. The AACR and ASCO recommend additional research on these devices, including assessing the health impacts of ENDS, understanding patterns of ENDS use, and determining what role ENDS have in cessation. Key policy recommendations include supporting federal, state, and local regulation of ENDS; requiring manufacturers to register with the US Food and Drug Administration and report all product ingredients, requiring childproof caps on ENDS liquids, and including warning labels on products and their advertisements; prohibiting youth-oriented marketing and sales; prohibiting child-friendly ENDS flavors; and prohibiting ENDS use in places where cigarette smoking is prohibited. This policy statement was developed by a joint writing group composed of members from the Tobacco and Cancer Subcommittee of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Science Policy and Government Affairs (SPGA) Committee and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Tobacco Cessation and Control Subcommittee of the Cancer Prevention Committee (CaPC). The statement was reviewed by both parent committees (ie, the AACR SPGA Committee and the ASCO CaPC) and was approved by the AACR Boards of Directors on August 6, 2014, and the ASCO Executive Committee on September 18, 2014. This policy statement was published jointly by invitation and consent in both Clinical Cancer Research and Journal of Clinical Oncology. Abstract:
Manual picking and retrieval of items from storage locations can be time-consuming, leading to delays in order fulfillment. This can negatively impact customer satisfaction and the overall responsiveness of the supply chain. In addition, manual data entry and tracking systems are prone to human errors, resulting in discrepancies between recorded and actual inventory levels. This can lead to stockouts, overstocking, and difficulties in maintaining accurate inventory records. Therefore, a fully automated storage and retrieval system is proposed to tackle this problem. The overall system consists of infrared sensor as presence of item stored, LEDs indicator, warehouse model with compartments and stepper motors act as actuator to pick and place the item. This project aims to automate the storage and retrieval system with the assist of monitoring system for accurate tracking of inventory and space savings. The use of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) in this project is a good representation of integrated automation technology in automated storage system design. Furthermore, monitoring system connected to a web-based system will be used to remotely monitor and operate the facility. Implementing an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) in the warehouse can address these challenges by automating the storage, retrieval, and tracking of inventory.

Abstract:
Building a global Network Relations with the internet has made huge changes in personal information system and even comments left on a webpage of SNS(Social Network Services) are appreciated as important elements that would provide valuable information for someone. Social Network is a relation between individuals or groups, represented in a graph model, which converts the concept of psychological and social relations into a logical structure by using node and link. But, most of the current personalized systems on the basis of Social Network are built and constructed mainly in the PC environment, and the systems are neither designed nor implemented in mobile environment. Hence, the objective of this study is to propose methods of providing Personalized Mobile Information Retrieval System using NFC (Near Field Communication) Smartphone, which will be then used for Smartphone users. Besides, this study aims to verify its efficiency through a comparative analysis of existing studies.

Abstract:
Abstract:ArchiMed is a highly flexible medical data storage and retrieval system which adds sophisticated clinical research support to a standard hospital information system (HIS).Currently, the HIS of Vienna General Hospital-University Hospital (2000 beds) stores the clinical data of over 2 million patients. While this system supports patient care (e.g., ADT, clinical chemistry, diagnosis, procedures), it has no features to facilitate research, such as the management of clinical studies.ArchiMed is designed to support clinical research. It includes an independent database, which mirrors virtually all the information held in the HIS while also allowing new data to be collected independently and to be added to the database. Flexible retrieval and analysis of data contained in the database are then possible. Thus, existing patient data can be smoothly incorporated into a study together with data collected specifically for research purposes. The system has already been successfully installed in the departments of surgery and soon in other departments as well.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the ongoing life cycle of the world's first library Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) at the Oviatt Library at the California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Born from the pilot project at the California State University Chancellor's Office, CSUN's ASRS was inaugurated in 1991 and cost over $2,000,000 to implement. It survived a devastating 6.8 Northridge earthquake and protected the collection housed within. Almost 20 years later the CSUN ASRS underwent a major renovation of hardware. With the changing concept of library as space and the construction of Learning Commons at the Oviatt, the demand for ASRS capacity is higher than ever. Design/methodology/approach – In addition to the history and overview, the paper explores the major aspects of ASRS administration: specifications of storage layout and arrangement of the materials, collection policy for storing materials, communication of retrieval requests and ASRS interface and compatibility with successive Integrated Library Systems. Findings – The first ASRS served as proof of concept that a library collection does not lose its effectiveness when low-circulating materials are removed from the open stacks. Furthermore, with the changing concept of library as space and the construction of Learning Commons at the Oviatt, the provision of the nimble, just-in-time collection becomes paramount, and the demand for ASRS increases exponentially. Practical implications – Administrators and librarians who consider investing in ASRS will learn about the principles of storage organization, imperatives and challenges of its conception and long-term management on the example of CSUN. Originality/value – The paper carries unique qualities as it describes the formation and evolution of the world's first library ASRS. The visionary undertaking not only withstood the test of time and nature, it continues to play a pivotal role in Oviatt Library's adaption to the new generation of users’ demands and expectations.

Abstract:
This paper introduces a method to realize dynamic interface, and designs a database storage model based on XML field technology to realize convenient data storage, any combination condition retrieval function and how to improve the retrieval speed in this kind of storage model. Usually a business system needs to provide information entry and retrieval functions, software designers have to design the appropriate entry items, input interface and retrieval functions for each business system and spend too much time on the repetitive works. And later engineers have to maintain the changing needs of the entry project, so we can apply the dynamic interface technology to achieve the customize needs of input items by the user, reducing the time of the repetitive works. Dynamic interface technology includes the realization of database storage and high performance data retrieval. This paper explores a storage model based on XML database to realize common and efficient storage and discuss on how to improve the retrieval speed in this kind of storage model.
