Abstract:
Agricultural shows are community-based festivals that represent a majority of festivals staged in rural destinations within Australia. Recent anecdotal evidence indicates their survival is being threatened. Declines in the overall number of shows and visitor attendance have been widely reported, yet an analysis of the reason for these declines has not been investigated. Agricultural shows are managed by volunteers within not-for-profit show societies who are finding it difficult to survive in an increasingly competitive and challenging external environment. Little is understood about these show societies, their volunteer managers and the management effectiveness. This study has addressed these gaps by investigating show society management effectiveness by means of a marketing concept paradigm. A case study method employing qualitative in-depth interviews with key show society members and other stakeholders was conducted on one agricultural show. Findings reveal that this show society is managed by volunteers whose primary involvement motivation is based upon self-interest in one or more components of the show. The majority of these individuals do not have management skills and expertise required to manage a festival and whilst it is important to note their volunteering contribution, it is this lack of skills and knowledge that has prevented a systematic approach to management. There is no attempt at consumer research, strategic planning, organisational planning or volunteer recruitment. The show programs do not change to reflect the current needs of the community, rather what is affordable, who can organise it and what has always been done. As a result, the case study show society is not employing a marketing concept orientation but a product concept orientation. This study concludes that without this focus, the show society will be ill equipped to meet changing customer demands and stay abreast of competitors. To assist agricultural shows to manage future challenges and adopt a marketing concept, a theoretical model has been proposed that incorporates existing frameworks and this study’s findings.

Accompany technological advancement through the dissemination of information is an alternative to lessen the obstacles related to the rapid technological growth market. The survey information technological nature can occur through technological surveillance which consists of a tool for managing information. Seen the importance of agriculture for Brazil, and the many research efforts for this sector, this paper aims at facilitating a process of technological surveillance of agricultural research organizations. To achieve this goal we analyzed systematically the available the literature database for the construction of a theoretical framework that served as the basis the other phases of the study, which comprised the identification of management practices on agricultural information technology events, by the centers agricultural research, and analysis of information sources of agricultural research organizations available on the web, aimed at disseminating information and technology transfer between these rural agricultural research organizations and producers. It was found that it is necessary improve the management of technological information produced by the studied events, so that it cannot generate knowledge for the public participant of the event, as well as improve the technical management of technological information used by research organizations concerned since users find it difficult to access information and in some cases even lack of them. With the study of a sequence of steps for the development of technological surveillance, presented in the literature and adapted to the scenario studied, it was found that it is feasible to develop a monitoring process that applied to agricultural research organizations, which enable obtaining information to apply new technologies, create new products and to assess the possible impacts of an event or change in the environment, reducing risks to users of the information disseminated and ensuring the survival of agriculture and agribusiness. These informations can also serve to support innovation, since agriculture is necessary to identify the sources of innovation for the sector, based on the technological trajectories, involving the generation of knowledge that begins with the results of technological surveillance.

Abstract:
This study aims at observing the interest in Touraine food specialities and how they were promoted by various players. Starting from the 1880s, with the appearance of regionalism (an integral part of which is gastronomy), our study ends in the late 20th century, when the notion of heritage becomes widespread and gets its current form. Thanks to the meeting of the agricultural theme, regionalist dynamics (politically and culturally speaking), and the tourist identity of the “Garden of France,” the emergence of food heritage is reflected on. All involved players build up a regional identity through the promotion of centres of tourist interest and set their sights on sustaining local attractiveness. The behavioural evolution throughout the period is observed, ranging from qualitative approach to excessive commercial drive; from strong interest in “terroir” to a certain detachment from it

Abstract:
Exhibitions embody notions of power, culture, and history. The study of exhibitions from 1870 to 1915 in Winnipeg shows how a middle-class agenda dominated these events. In an era of profound change, exhibition advocates sought to coax stability through popular assent. The study attempts to explain how exhibitions, as a mechanism of order, were inherently contradictory. Hegemonic elements, which sought to impress the desirability of system and harmony, simultaneously attempted to break down established habits, values, and expectations and replace them with new ones. The exhibition began as an idea that reflected the social thinking of the day and as a model that provoked action. It was the Victorian state of mind that attributed political, economic, and cultural importance to exhibitions and weighed them down with ideological and historical burdens. As a consequence, the study of the purposes of exhibition seeks to clarify the limited identity we are left with today.

In order to meet the demand of expanding leisure tour market and to reduce the impact on agriculture because of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), the government actively promotes the policy of ''recreation agriculture'' and hopes to upgrade the agriculture by ways of adopting the managerial concept and idea of travel service. Because ''recreation agriculture'' has been lacking a set of approval procedures and rating standards, leisure farm visitors maybe choose the inferior leisure farms with poor service quality in lack of ample information. The tourists with bad experiences about leisure farms will not visit leisure farms in the future. That will greatly influence the future development of '' recreation agriculture ''. This study aims at setting up a service quality measure of leisure farms and offers it to the government for reference in setting up the authentication and rating system. In addition, this study also investigates the interrelationships among customer’s perceived service quality, satisfaction and behavioral intention. By understanding and endeavoring to improve those defects of service, the leisure farms can promote visitors'' satisfaction and revisiting willingness effectively and subsequently enforce their competitiveness. In order to prove the fitness of the construct model to '' recreation agriculture '', this research adopts statistical software SPSS to verify the reliability of the measure and make the factor analysis. This study also uses software AMOS as a tool to build and analysis the linear structure model for the latent constructs of perceived service quality, customer’s satisfaction and behavioral intention. The objects of this study are visitors of the tropical agricultural products exhibition of Ping-Tong, The investigation method adopted for this study is granting the questionnaire to visitors at random. The analysis result shows, visitors are most unsatisfied about following service items, including insufficient equipments for the disability person and other auxiliary equipments, such as pavilion and sun-shading seats, the attendants of the leisure farm lack the professional knowledge about agriculture and service. Another finding of this study is that students of elementary school and junior high school are apparently more satisfied with ''perceived service quality'' and ''customer’s satisfaction'' than other visitors. Because visitors from Ping-Tong county pay lower ticket price than that for visitors from other counties, visitors from Ping-Tong county feel more satisfied about the construct of '' service value ''. Path analyses verify the following hypothesis, ''perceived service quality'' can positively influence ''customer’s satisfaction'', and ''customer’s satisfaction'' can positively influence ''behavioral intention'', but ''perceived service quality'' can not directly influence ''behavioral intention''. The managerial implications based on this study are: 1.The manager of the leisure farm should devote to improve the auxiliary equipments and attendants'' agricultural knowledge and service skills in solving the service disputes. 2.Strengthen marketing for students of elementary school and junior high school to increase visitors. 3.Narrow the disparity of ticket price for visitors from Ping-Tong county and other counties to encourage people of other counties to visit the leisure farm.
