Abstract:
This study has primary focus to analyze the aesthetic layout of a newspaper with a mathematical approach, which refers to some methods of Birkhoff’s aesthetic measurement developed by David Ngo Chek Ling, et.al. Ngo developed a method of measuring the aesthetic layout that can be used for various design purposes, especially for a computer interface design. Measurement method that he developed refers to the principles of design aesthetics, such as: the principle of balance, the principle of sequence, the principle of unity, and the principle of equilibrium. Birkhoff aesthetic measurement method was used as final analysis to determine the value of aesthetic layout. In this study, some national and local media were selected as samples to determine and assess the aesthetic layout. Based on data analysis, Birkhoff aesthetic measurement method can be applied to measure the aesthetic value of the newspaper layout mathematically.

Abstract:
Numerous studies have investigated the relationship between a product’s degree of usability and its degree of beauty. Both directions of causality have been demonstrated leading to “what is beautiful is usable” and “what is usable is beautiful hypothesis. Additionally, aesthetic research has demonstrated several principles that elicit a consistent pattern of responses. The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between aesthetics and usability by means of a functional prime. Forty participants rated sixteen stimuli manipulated on four aesthetic principles; prototypicality, symmetry, composition, and shape. Mixed results indicate that certain aesthetic principles interact with one another in a functional usage.

Abstract:
As the essential public assets for sustainable development, Highway should provide for people not only the enjoyment of convenient and safe transportation, but also the fulfillment of visual pleasure and aesthetic appeal. Taking the highway as the aesthetic object and making the research in aesthetic perception and the process of psychological experience of the aesthetic subject are of great importance to highway landscape planning and design. The aesthetic subject and object of highway landscape are defined and their relationship between the two is explored based on the analysis of characteristics and principles of highway aesthetics in the paper. And the conception of the highway landscape aesthetic field is also introduced. In view of the aesthetic characteristics of highway landscape, the aesthetic process is studied in detail from three phrases of aesthetic expectation and aesthetic attention, aesthetic expansion and aesthetic perception, and aesthetic dispersion. Taking Guangdong Fokai highway for example, the aesthetic psychological expanding process of highway landscape is finally analyzed.

Abstract:
Research on aesthetic labor has been confined to service encounters in private sector industries. Aesthetic labor theory is critical of the commercialism that drives management of service labor and points to the discrimination of employees on the grounds of their “looks” that this entails. Considering the common conception today of the public sector as a service provider, application of the theory of aesthetic labor is relevant to public sector service work. But the public sector has many other purposes and mechanisms than those pertaining to increased revenues that may influence the use of aesthetic labor. This paper analyzes the aesthetic labor of Danish parking attendants in an organizational ethnography. A change management process in this organization has applied the principles of aesthetic labor actively for the purposes of diversity and health and safety. The paper shows how managers apply aesthetic labor principles to promote health and safety and workforce diversity, but also that the use of aesthetics has ambivalent purposes. Aesthetic labor is not as unequivocally applied for commercial purposes as hitherto assumed.

Abstract:
This article examines the sociology-aesthetics nexus in Georg Simmel's thought. The article suggests that it is useful to divide Simmel's linking of sociology and aesthetics into three distinct types of propositions: (1) claims regarding the parallels between art and social form (the “art of social forms”); (2) statements regarding principles of sociological ordering in art and aesthetic objects (the “social forms of art”); and (3) analytical propositions where aesthetic and social factors are shown to work in combination. In the latter case, the sociology-aesthetic nexus moves beyond mere analogy. It is argued that in those instances where Simmel shows that aesthetic factors are central to the social bond the linking of aesthetics and sociology is theoretically most insightful.

Abstract:
The factors that affect a consumer when making a purchase decision include product function, quality, and price. Different products might feature similar functional performance although they are designed and manufactured by different vendors. The most decisive factor for a consumer in buying a product is no longer its physical functions. Nowadays, consumers care more about the aesthetics that a product can deliver. Designers should make any extra effort to improve the aesthetic design of their products. Therefore, it is critical for a designer to know the aesthetic tastes of his/her target consumer group in order to create products with the preferred style. Furthermore, the idea of design differentiation needs to be incorporated so that a product can present different aesthetic perceptions to consumers of different tastes. The objective of this study is to investigate consumers’ preference models from their preferred product forms. The aesthetic principles of Symmetry, Minimalism, and Cohesion are applied to the case study of the design of various vase forms. A quantitative approach of evaluating vase forms by the aesthetic principles is proposed. A conjoint analysis of the vase features and attributes was carried out in order to determine their correlation with consumer preferences. Consumers are classified into 6 groups of different aesthetic conceptions by cluster analysis. The consumers’ preference model can be determined by indices including Pearson’s R and Kendall’s tau. This approach provides designers with an effective way of determining the right direction for new form designs and renovation.

In recent years, there have been attempts to discover the principles that determine the value of aesthetics in the domain of computing. Many and diverse studies have tried in some way to capture these principles through technical characteristics. To this end, helped by the ease of Internet data acquisition, datasets of images have been published which were obtained online at random from websites and photography competitions. To guarantee the validity of a system of aesthetic image classification, one must first guarantee its capacity for generalization. This paper studies how the indiscriminate selection of images can affect the generalization capacity obtained by a binary classifier.

Abstract:
The subject of this research is the aesthetics of early works of Friedrich Schlegel. In his aesthetics, Schlegel continues the traditions of German classical philosophy, placing emphasis on the principles of beautiful and sublime in art. Schlegel believes that both, beauty and morality are innate traits of a person, which besides ethical also has “aesthetic imperative”. Beauty, as a ”transcendental factor”, beauty is based on indifferent pleasure and represents the ideal that was reached by the ancient Greek art, while contemporary art does not tend towards it. The higher beauty is organic with nature; two key “elements” comprise the essence of beauty: “phenomenon” and “good”. In broad sense, beauty also embraces the sublime. Schlegel pays particular attention to disgraceful as an aesthetic category that contradicts beautiful and sublime, and draws a sketch of the future theory of disgraceful. He connects disgraceful with human animality, and shows that it is based on the disgusting, painful, agonizing, “indigent chaos” of existence, manifesting an absolute negation. The central aesthetic principles – beautiful and sublime are contradicted by two types of disgraceful: personal and exalted. One of the main components of culture as a humanistic factor, Schelling considers art and determines the three types of culture: natural, organically growing on the basis of mythology (it reached high level in Antiquity), artificial, created on the basis of reason according to aesthetic laws (new-European), and aesthetic that implies special emphasis in culture on aesthetic essence and artistry. Schlegel is persuaded of the fact that further positive development of culture and art is possible only under the control of a “proper” aesthetic theory, the beginning of which he sees in the works of his contemporaries.

Aim. People with attractive facial appearance are more easily integrated in society and are considered to be more capable, more intelligent and more responsible. The aesthetic aspect is influenced by expression, by facial symmetry, facial contours and teeth colour. In dental restorations, the correct determination of teeth colour is a critical step with extreme importance for successful treatment. From this perspective the practitioner must have experience, must have the ability to distinguish colours and must train through repetitive visual practical exercises that can have an impact on the perception of dental aesthetics. Materials and method. The study followed comparatively the evolution of teeth colour determination and its impact on dental aesthetics perception. It was conducted on a group of fifth year students from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Bucharest using the Tooth Training Box colour determination exercise that is based on the 3-D Master colour key principle. Results. Using training exercises to determine colour participants developed a better understanding of the physical principles behind the procedure but also a significant increase in accuracy of their measurements and confidence in their colour determinations. Conclusions. Using an aesthetic evaluation protocol that translates teeth colour in a universal language for both practitioners as well as dental technicians has a significant impact in aesthetic dentistry.

Abstract:
The term aesthetic has always become part of design. Without aesthetic, design has just a functional object. Aesthetic in design, particularly in interior design, has been influenced by many factors, which are aesthetic value, aesthetic perception, and time frame. Aesthetic has subjective meaning related to time frame and objective meaning related to implementation of element and principles of design on aesthetic term. Aesthetic perception is how we judge and see the object using our own thinking and value. Time frame is where and when the aesthetic value happens. Interior design trend right now has been influenced by technology in many ways so the concept of modern design theme is always the best choice for designer. However, using modern theme as a design concept has to be implemented as a whole theme and related to aesthetical value so that the design will gain much appreciation from others. This paper used deductive method to explain the theory of aesthetic and the implementation of aesthetic value in interior design context. Design should speak louder than it looked.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the philosophical-aesthetic foundations of African-American hip-hop music of the late XX century. Developed by the African philosopher Leopold Senghor, the author of the theory of negritude, concept of Negro-African aesthetics laid the foundations for the formation of philosophical-political comprehension and development of the principles of African-American culture in the second half of the XX century in works of the founders of “Black Arts” movement. This research examines the main theses of the aesthetic theory of L. Senghor; traces his impact upon cultural-political movement “Black Art”; reveals which position of his aesthetic theory and cultural-political movement “Black Arts” affected hip-hop music. The author refers to the concept of “vibe” for understanding the influence of Negro-African aesthetics upon the development of hip-hop music. The impact of aesthetic theory of Leopold Senghor upon the theoretical positions of cultural-political movement “Black Arts” is demonstrated. The author also compares the characteristics of the Negro-African aesthetics and the concepts used to describe hip-hop music, and determines correlation between them. The conclusion is made that the research assessment of hip-hop music and comparative analysis of African-American hip-hop with the examples of global hip-hop should pay attention to the philosophical-aesthetic foundations of African-American hip-hop and their relation to Negro-African aesthetics, which differs fundamentally from the European aesthetic tradition.

They should be capable of skillfully employing injection techniques that minimize adverse events while maximizing success in achieving aesthetic goals. This chapter will review the anatomy and components of facial aging, the principles of facial aesthetics, the available injection techniques and their applications, as well as guidelines to avoid adverse events. Once an aesthetic practitioner has achieved a solid understanding of the available filler products, is able to accurately assess a patient and formulate a treatment plan, and then use a good technique to perform injections, patient satisfaction is assured.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the interpretation of L. Tolstoy’s theoretical aesthetics as a part of the literary process - as a kind of “manifesto” directed against the emerging modernism (anti-traditionalism). The main components of L. Tolstoy’s aesthetic theory, which are interpreted as worldview principles that most effectively oppose the “death of art” (V. Weidle) in the “postmodern situation” and anti-artistic requirements of the “consumer society”, are considered. The aesthetic concept of L. Tolstoy is interpreted as a strategy to combat the imposition of perverted tastes and immorality in art. The main components of this theory and their interrelation are allocated. L. Tolstoy's aesthetics is considered as an important value basis of modern art education.

Abstract:
The article, based on R. G. Collingwood’s monograph Principles of Art (1938), reconstructs the theoretical space of the English humanities of the time. It shows that in his work, R. G. Collingwood, a well-known English neo-Hegelian philosopher and historian of science, substantiated the aesthetic-psychological concept of art, which proved to be in line with modern philosophical and aesthetic-psychological search for scientists. The article highlights the most promising clauses on the psychological essence of art, which should be considered in the logic of attribution of modern theoretical models, and offers the author’s interpretation of Collingwood’s ideas, in the context of which the emphasis is placed on the role of English theorists in the development of interdisciplinarity as one of the cornerstones of cultural analysis. The research emphasizes the importance of historical and cultural traditions and actualizes their potential during the period of avant-garde formation. Concidering the theoretical ideas of R. G. Collingwood, the following aesthetic art problems are conceptualized: “psychic expression”, “sensuality” and “multiplicity of aesthetics”.

This essay will be devoted to the presentation of the aesthetic principles of painting, plastics and architecture. All these arts converge with each other mainly in the fact that they are the essence of visual art, that is, their works are perceived by the organ of vision and their aesthetic effects are given together with visual impressions. In the first issue, dedicated to the aesthetic principles of music, the general principles of grace and beauty were established and explained. We consider it not superfluous to formulate them again in a condensed form.

Loss of anterior tooth causes aesthetic and functional disharmony. Although no restorative material can approach the appearance of intact tooth enamel, glass ceramic, at the increased risk of brittle fracture, can mimic original tooth color better than the other restorative options. The newest zirconia material comes with unparalleled individualization in aesthetics and optimal physical properties. One of the basic principles of tooth preparation is conservation of tooth structure. This clinical report describes the replacement of maxillary and mandibular incisor with latest generation zirconia adhesive fixed partial denture. The authors have achieved unmatched aesthetics with newer high translucency zirconia.

Abstract:
The article examines the aesthetic category of “interesting” as a dominant of urban environment development. The authors try to comprehend this category from the point of view of cultural knowledge. The article includes a theoretical section, where, basing on well-known concepts, the authors outline the principles of embedding the “interesting”, as something aesthetics and artistic, in the postmodern fabric of modern megacities. The analytical part of the article is based on specific examples represented by urban cultural landscapes, by the postmodern clash of art and non-art in urban space, by event communications and other forms of urban culture representation. The study resulted in designation of one of the main problems of modern cities: as a result of their excessive saturation with “interesting”, there can be observed a growing cultural and aesthetic insensitivity to the “interesting” among their citizens. From the methodological point of view, the study revealed that, in interpretation of modern phenomena of socio-cultural reality, it is not enough to proceed from the basic principles of a particular science. So, the interdisciplinary approach, as a methodological resource in demand today, allows revealing, by the example of the concept of “interesting”, the interconnection and interdependence of the methodological approaches of aesthetics and culturology for studying the cultural environment of modern cities. The authors analyze the “interesting” as an instrument of influencing on the cultural environment of the city and the perception of its text. As a result, the “interesting” intensifies the nonlinearity and fractality of urban space. On the example of Russian cities development, the article reveals that the formation of a new cultural environment is always connected not only with changing of artistic design solutions or/and aesthetics trends. The authors prove that the need for “interesting” widens the frames of the subject field of aesthetics. The “interesting” is moving to the center of interdisciplinary cultural studies.
