Abstract:
Image aesthetics processing (IAP) is used primarily to enhance the aesthetic quality of images. However, IAP faces several issues, including its failure to analyze the influence of visual scene information and the difficulty of deploying IAP capabilities to mobile devices. This study proposes an automatic IAP system (IAPS) for mobile devices that integrates machine learning and traditional image-processing methods. First, we employ an extremely computation-efficient deep learning model, ShuffleNet, designed for mobile devices as our scene recognition model. Then, to enable computational inferencing on resource-constrained edge devices, we use a modern mobile machine-learning library, TensorFlow Lite, to convert the model type to TFLite format. Subsequently, we adjust the image contrast and color saturation using group filtering, respectively. These methods enable us to achieve maximal aesthetic enhancement of images with minimal parameter adjustments. Finally, we use the InceptionResNet-v2 aesthetic evaluation model to rate the images. Even when employing the benchmark model with an accuracy of 70%, the score of the IAPS processing image is verified to be higher and more effective compared with a state-of-the-art smartphone’s beautification function. Additionally, an anonymous questionnaire survey with 100 participants is conducted, and the result shows that IAPS enhances the aesthetic appeal of images based on the public’s preferences.

Abstract:
Today?s web-based automatic image enhancement algorithms decide to apply an enhancement operation by searching for ?similar? images in an online database of images and then applying the same level of enhancement as the image in the database. Two key bottlenecks in these systems are the storage cost for images and the cost of the search. Based on the principles of computational aesthetics, we consider storing task-relevant aesthetic summaries, a set of features which are sufficient to predict the level at which an image enhancement operation should be performed, instead of the entire image. The empirical question, then, is to ensure that the reduced representation indeed maintains enough information so that the resulting operation is perceived to be aesthetically pleasing to humans. We focus on the contrast adjustment operation, an important image enhancement primitive. We empirically study the efficacy of storing a pixelated summary of the 16 most representative colors of an image and performing contrast adjustments on this representation. We tested two variants of the pixelated image: a ?mid-level pixelized version? that retained spatial relationships and allowed for region segmentation and grouping as in the original image and a ?low-level pixelized-random version? which only retained the colors by randomly shuffling the 50 x 50 pixels. In an empirical study on 25 human subjects, we demonstrate that the preferred contrast for the low-level pixelized-random image is comparable to the original image even though it retains very few bits and no semantic information, thereby making it ideal for image matching and retrieval for automated contrast editing. In addition, we use an eye tracking study to show that users focus only on a small central portion of the low-level image, thus improving the performance of image search over commonly used computer vision algorithms to determine interesting key points.

Abstract:
Image aesthetic assessment (IAA) with neural attention has made significant progress due to its effectiveness in object recognition. Current studies have shown that the features learned by convolutional neural networks (CNN) at different learning stages indicate meaningful information. The shallow feature contains the low-level information of images, and the deep feature perceives the image semantics and themes. Inspired by this, we propose a visual enhancement network with feature fusion (FF-VEN). It consists of two sub-modules, the visual enhancement module (VE module) and the shallow and deep feature fusion module (SDFF module). The former uses an adaptive filter in the spatial domain to simulate human eyes according to the region of interest (ROI) extracted by neural feedback. The latter not only extracts the shallow feature and the deep feature via transverse connection, but also uses a feature fusion unit (FFU) to fuse the pooled features together with the aim of information contribution maximization. Experiments on standard AVA dataset and Photo.net dataset show the effectiveness of FF-VEN.

Abstract:
We tested predictions deriving from the “Pleasure-Interest Model of Aesthetic Liking” (PIA Model), whereby aesthetic preferences arise from two fluency-based processes: an initial automatic, percept-driven default process and a subsequent perceiver-driven reflective process. One key trigger for reflective processing is stimulus complexity. Moreover, if meaning can be derived from such complexity, then this can engender increased interest and elevated liking. Experiment 1 involved graffiti street-art images, pre-normed to elicit low, moderate and high levels of interest. Subjective reports indicated a predicted enhancement in liking across increasing interest levels. Electroencephalography (EEG) recordings during image viewing revealed different patterns of alpha power in temporal brain regions across interest levels. Experiment 2 enforced a brief initial image-viewing stage and a subsequent reflective image-viewing stage. Differences in alpha power arose in most EEG channels between the initial and deliberative viewing stages. A linear increase in aesthetic liking was again seen across interest levels, with different patterns of alpha activity in temporal and occipital regions across these levels. Overall, the phenomenological data support the PIA Model, while the physiological data suggest that enhanced aesthetic liking might be associated with “flow-feelings” indexed by alpha activity in brain regions linked to visual attention and reducing distraction.

Abstract:
AbstractA prominent mandible that gives a squared face in Asians is considered unattractive as it imparts a coarse and masculine image. Mandibular contouring surgery allows slender oval faces. The purpose of conventional mandible reduction is to make the lower face appear slim in frontal view and to have a smooth contour in lateral view. As shaping the lateral contour of the mandible alone may result in minimal improvement in the frontal view, surgical techniques to reduce the width of the lower face through narrowing genioplasty (i.e., the “V-line” surgery) and sagittal resection of the lateral cortex should be combined. Examination of the shape and symmetry, the relationship between the maxilla and the mandible, understanding overlying soft tissue contribution, and understanding the overall balance of the face are mandatory. An important factor influencing ideal facial shape is patient's personal preference, which is often influenced by his/her ethnic and cultural background. Especially when consulting patients of different nationalities or ethnic backgrounds, careful attention should be paid to the patient's aesthetic sensibility regarding the ideal or desirable facial shape. Narrowing the chin and modification of chin shape can be accomplished by narrowing genioplasty with central strip resection. This midsymphyseal sectioning procedure yields safe and very satisfactory results. This procedure not only augments the narrowing effect by leaving soft tissues attached to the bone but also enables modification of chin shape by altering the shape of resection. The surgeon should customize the surgery based on a comprehensive assessment of the patient's preoperative chin and mandible morphology complemented by an assessment of their aesthetic goals.

Abstract:
Landscape preference in relation to human perception of landscape ecological and aesthetic qualities analysed in different studies. The importance of both qualities is highlighted especially for urban green spaces, where the enhancement of environment quality in conjunction with providing high level aesthetics is becoming a topical issue. This paper analyses seven planting types in urban green spaces in accordance with six landscape ecological and aesthetic qualities. Therefore the aim of this research is to investigate which planting type inhabitants and tourists from four Latvian cities prefer more. Planting types were evaluated according to landscape ecological and aesthetic qualities – attractiveness, naturalness, neatness, necessity of care, wilderness and safety. The method of image simulations of the different planting type alternatives was used. The research results showed a correlation between the landscape preference and respondent`s gender, level of education and place of residence. The research did not display differences in landscape preference in terms of specific regional characteristics of the four selected cities. Results of this research could be used in the decision-making process for development of new and revitalization of current green spaces in the researched cities.

Abstract:
This research concentrates on the integration of Low-Rank Adaptation for Text-to-Image Diffusion Fine-tuning and Conditional Image Generation in e-commerce recommendation systems. Low-Rank Adaptation for Text-to-Image Diffusion Fine-tuning, skilled in producing precise and diverse images from aesthetic descriptions provided by users, is extremely valuable for personalizing product suggestions. The enhancement of the interpretation of textual prompts and consequent image generation is accomplished through the fine-tuning of cross-attention layers in the Stable Diffusion model. In an effort to advance personalization further, Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks are employed to transform these textual descriptions into corresponding product images. In order to assure effective data communication, particularly in areas with low connectivity, the system makes use of Long Range technology, thereby improving system accessibility. Preliminary results demonstrate a considerable improvement in recommendation precision, user engagement, and conversion rates. These results underscore the potential impact of integrating such advanced artificial intelligence techniques in e-commerce, optimizing the shopping experience by generating personalized, accurate, and visually appealing product suggestions.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Color is part of the visual variables in map, serving an aesthetic part and as a guide of attention. Impaired color vision affects the ability to distinguish colors, which makes the task of decoding the map colors difficult. Map reading is reported as a challenging task for these observers, especially when the size of stimuli is small. The aim of this study is to review existing methods for map design for color vision deficient users. A systematic review of research literature and case studies of map design for CVD observers has been conducted in order to give an overview of current knowledge and future research challenges. In addition, relevant research on simulations of CVD and color image enhancement for these observers from other fields of industry is included. The study identified two main approaches: pre-processing by using accessible colors and post-processing by using enhancement methods. Some of the methods may be applied for maps, but requires tailoring of test images according to map types.</p>

Abstract:
Aesthetic radicalism characteristic of the modernist literary culture is explored in the work of Alexander Blok (1880 –1921) and Wallace Stevens (1879 –1955). Poetic imagination, Stevens wrote, is “always at the end of the era” — the two poets shared a sense of writing from a hiatus between no longer and not yet. Both were fascinated, however distantly, by radical ideologies of their time, particularly the power to produce and propagate heroic myth. Heroic visionaries are defined by the “warlike attitude” (R.W. Emerson), the oppositional stance that causes an enhancement and a reduction of imagination. The image of modern heroics in Blok’s and Stevens’ poetry is associated metaphorically with the energizing and deadening effect of the cold. In such poems as “The Twelve,” “The Snow man” and other the breakthrough to “absolute” reality is imagined as a result of the violent self-abstraction from all settled contexts and all subjective values. It is fraught with risk and associated, by Block, with the ability to hear the music of being through the noises of the time or, by Stevens, with the directness of seeing “things as they are.” Trust in the possibility of such a breakthrough, accompanied by the understanding of its utter impossibility is a characteristic paradox of the culture of modernism. It is most vividly observed as we compare the creative strategies of the two poets, however distant they are culturally.

Abstract:
In this paper, a novel method to modify color images for the protanopia and deuteranopia color vision deficiencies is proposed. The method admits certain criteria, such as preserving image naturalness and color contrast enhancement. Four modules are employed in the process. First, fuzzy clustering-based color segmentation extracts key colors (which are the cluster centers) of the input image. Second, the key colors are mapped onto the CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram. Then, using the concept of confusion line (i.e., loci of colors confused by the color-blind), a sophisticated mechanism translates (i.e., removes) key colors lying on the same confusion line to different confusion lines so that they can be discriminated by the color-blind. In the third module, the key colors are further adapted by optimizing a regularized objective function that combines the aforementioned criteria. Fourth, the recolored image is obtained by color transfer that involves the adapted key colors and the associated fuzzy clusters. Three related methods are compared with the proposed one, using two performance indices, and evaluated by several experiments over 195 natural images and six digitized art paintings. The main outcomes of the comparative analysis are as follows. (a) Quantitative evaluation based on nonparametric statistical analysis is conducted by comparing the proposed method to each one of the other three methods for protanopia and deuteranopia, and for each index. In most of the comparisons, the Bonferroni adjusted p-values are <0.015, favoring the superiority of the proposed method. (b) Qualitative evaluation verifies the aesthetic appearance of the recolored images. (c) Subjective evaluation supports the above results.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of digital technology, the development speed of digital media is also relatively fast. Digital media technology has a great impact on people’s lifestyles and aesthetic concepts, and it also has a greater impact on visual art, creative thinking communication methods, and expression methods. In this study, the quality enhancement of digital images has been intensively studied based on the guidance of big data of eye-movement gaze points. A large amount of visual data are collected from public social resources, and the optimization research of image sensory quality is carried out in-depth using the acquired big data. Next, the region of interest (ROI) is obtained by combining the data with a two-dimensional Gaussian distribution model-fitting method, and the obtained data clustered and improved based on the K-means clustering algorithm to obtain ROI fixation points. Finally, discontinuities in the choice of sharpness in graphics and video playback are pointed out, and the final fixation data analysis is utilized. Results show that targeted optimization is very effective in improving the quality of digital images and saving space, enabling users to enjoy higher-quality visual digital images. The proposed method can be used to improve the dynamic resolution of images and videos.

Abstract:
Image Enhancement (IE) is an image processing procedure in which the image’s original information is improved, highlighting specific features to ease post-processing analyses by a human or machine. State-of-the-art image enhancement pipelines apply solutions to fixed and static constraints to solve specific issues in isolation. In this work, an IE system for image marketing is proposed, more precisely, real estate marketing, where the objective is to enhance the commercial appeal of the images, while maintaining a level of realism and similarity with the original image. This work proposes a generic image enhancement pipeline that combines state-of-the-art image processing filters, Machine Learning methods, and Evolutionary approaches, such as Genetic Programming (GP), to create a dynamic framework for Image Enhancement. The GP-based system is trained to optimize 4 metrics: Neural Image Assessment (NIMA) technical and BRISQUE, which evaluate the technical quality of the images; and NIMA aesthetics and PhotoILike, that evaluate the commercial attractiveness. It is shown that the GP model was able to find the best image quality enhancement (0.97 NIMA Aesthetics), while maintaining a high level of similarity with the original images (Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) of 0.88). The framework has better performance according to the image quality metrics than the off-the-shelf image enhancement tool and the framework’s isolated parts.

Abstract:
The article discusses the possibilities of the formal analysis of the fine-art painting composition on the basis of the classical definitions of beauty and computational aesthetics’ approaches of the second half of the 20th century he authors define the problem and consider solutions for the formalization of aesthetic perception in the context of aesthetic text, i.e., as part of the fine arts composition – a formal sequence of signs simply ordered in accordance with the syntactic rules’ system. The methodology of the research is defined by the general semiotics, distinguishing semantics, syntax, and pragmatics of a sign, by the aesthetic analysis’ methods, ranging according to the author’s message aesthetics, receptive aesthetics, and text aesthetics, as well as by the computational analysis methods connected with neural network means of defining the images’ symmetry. The article reveals preconditions for the emergence and also the current state of computational aesthetics as an interdisciplinary branch of knowledge. Analyzing the problem from the perspective of philosophy, aesthetics, semiotics, and technology, the authors draw attention to the need to improve the computational aesthetics methods. Firstly, the existing methods do not always enable to describe the fine-art object adequately. Secondly, there exists the so-called reduction of aesthetic assertion transforming it into the assertion concerning the object’s external characteristics. As a result, the authors assume that the increasing complexity of the current mathematical models and the experts’ subjective assessment support will allow to reach a compromise solution that enables the development of computational aesthetics as a branch of knowledge. Enhancement and development of the mathematical models, taking into account the rules of semiotics and subjectivism of the human perception, is the relevant objective of computational analysis of the aesthetic fine-arts text. The results of the present research supports the classic statement regarding the underivability of semantic and pragmatic propositions from syntax. The research concludes that relevant objectives are to find a correlation between, one the one hand, the axes and points of symmetry, deriving from the neural simulation, and, on the other hand, aesthetic effect, emerging from the perception of fine-art paintings.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a new method of image decomposition with a filtering capability. The image state ensemble decomposition (ISED) method has generative capabilities that work by removing a discrete ensemble of quanta from an image to provide a range of filters and images for a single red, green, and blue (RGB) input image. This method provides an image enhancement because ISED is a spatial domain filter that transforms or eliminates image regions that may have detrimental effects, such as noise, glare, and image artifacts, and it also improves the aesthetics of the image. ISED was used to generate 126 images from two tagged image file (TIF) images of M87 taken by the Spitzer Space Telescope. Analysis of the images used various full and no-reference quality metrics as well as histograms and color clouds. In most instances, the no-reference quality metrics of the generated images were shown to be superior to those of the two original images. Select ISED images yielded previously unknown galactic structures, reduced glare, and enhanced contrast, with good overall performance.

Abstract:
Over the past years the target for waste recovery/ recycling has significantly increased in Romania, in according with the EU Directives. Nowadays, the competitive contexts of the current market lead the manufacturers to obtain novel and custom-made products using new technologies and quality raw materials. Such resources can be consisting of low-cost waste/by-products and in the processes of converting them into value-added products. On the other hand, the necessity for recycling waste is important under the strict European legislation. Regarding glass, the key sources of waste are container/ packaging glass, flat glass, electric and electronic equipments, domestic glass, E-glass, etc. According with source, waste glass can be: pre-and post-consumer waste glass. Now many recycling processes have been studied, developed and applied in industry. The major challenge is represented by creating of innovative and sustainable technologies and making it suitable. But recycling of glass is technologically more complicated than other waste (for example: paper). In case of glass, the most sustainable route is to use it for re-melting processes and obtaining a new glass. Glass is 100% recyclable but not all waste/cullet can be used for the manufacturing of any type of glass, due different chemical composition and the prohibitive shipping costs from collection points to glass factory. In this study, authors paid attention to the recycling process of soda-lime glass (post-industrial flat glass) and proposed the thermal embossing technique of glass, using glass slumping process, in order to obtain decorative products with aesthetic impact and functional role. An input image is prepared by applying different enhancement techniques, adjusting contrast, transferring into grayscale image in 256 shades of gray. The result image is transferred in Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) software to refine the surface geometries and to obtain with rapid tooling the mould for glass. The method used for tooling fabrication consists of machining a block of suitable material with a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine which is known as a subtractive method. The next stage consists in applying of the heat treatment, using an electrical furnace. The major advantages of the embossing method for converting waste glass in value-added products is represented in the fact of use reduced energy comparing with the classic route of re-melting, possibility of obtaining bespoke products, ready to use in architectural and decorative fields. In addition, environmental benefits that results from processing waste glass are the reducing the raw materials (virgin) and the CO2 emissions.

Abstract:
Urban forestry development plans, which sometimes pass under the “slogan” of urban forestry, are a great opportunity for our cities. Improving urban forestscapes is a successful part of any urban sustainability strategy, including concrete actions in support of citizens’ well-being. The experience of Italy with the most recent forest planning legislation and a specific focus on Rome, with the recent implementation of a local forest plan, is thus fundamental to give due weight to the different roles of road trees in the ecological, architectural, engineering and social fields, differentially considering some aspects relevant to urban forestation plans and in particular in projects for the new planting of road trees. The present study discusses the main issue of road trees as a part of the green system, linking the “porosity” of urban landscapes with beneficial contributions in terms of ecosystem services. It is outlined how considering the issue of road trees within the more general question of the structure of urban and metropolitan green areas, which includes urban parks, ecological corridors between wilderness areas, residual green areas of buildings, riparian strips of rivers, agricultural areas, natural and wooded areas, is necessary in current planning for urban forests. The project of new plantings and replacement of existing trees should also follow a careful analysis of the local and regional ecological network, promoting a full integration with the mobility network, the service system and the city’s public spaces, including vacant land. Any strategy promoted by urban forestry, and in particular tree-lined roads, should work in synergy with the other measures for urban redevelopment and landscape enhancement of the city in a truly holistic perspective. Finally, the identity of street tree lines in building the image of a given city should be significantly enhanced, recovering in some ways (and giving value to) the aesthetic and scenic role of urban trees.

Abstract:
In photography, the presence of a bright light source often reduces the quality and readability of the resulting image. Light rays reflect and bounce off camera elements, sensor or diaphragm causing unwanted artifacts. These artifacts are generally known as "lens flare" and may have different influences on the photo: reduce contrast of the image (veiling glare), add circular or circular-like effects (ghosting flare), appear as bright rays spreading from light source (starburst pattern), or cause aberrations. All these effects are generally undesirable, as they reduce legibility and aesthetics of the image. In this paper we address the problem of removing or reducing the effect of veiling glare on the image. There are no available large-scale datasets for this problem and no established metrics, so we start by (i) proposing a simple and fast algorithm of generating synthetic veiling glare images necessary for training and (ii) studying metrics used in related image enhancement tasks (dehazing and underwater image enhancement). We select three such no-reference metrics (UCIQE, UIQM and CCF) and show that their improvement indicates better veil removal. Finally, we experiment on neural network architectures and propose a two-branched architecture and a training procedure utilizing structural similarity measure.

Abstract:
To enhance the continuity of character in the preservation of architectural heritage, this approach focuses on the horizontal self-similarity characteristics of architectural texture. A method using K-means and the Bhattacharyya approach for color selection in architectural repairs is proposed. It quantifies the visual coherence between the repaired structure and the original structure. Analyzing 12 images (A–L), with the original façade (image 0) as a reference, demonstrates that repairs using color-matched materials significantly improve visual coherence. Image A, created using the Visual Enhancement Through Adaptive Repair (VETAR) method, achieves the highest visual alignment with the original image. VETAR, grounded in Gestalt psychology, moves away from traditional materials to concentrate on visual consistency. Its successful implementation in the restoration of Mengzhong Fort illustrates a complex approach to material use in heritage conservation. After comparison, this method is deemed superior to traditional techniques, integrating modern interventions with historical aesthetics. The study suggests that VETAR may offer a referential method for architectural conservation, potentially facilitating a balanced integration of historical and contemporary elements in architectural renovation.

Abstract:
Digital image enhancement aims to deliver visually striking, pleasing images that align with human perception. While global techniques can elevate the image's overall aesthetics, fine-grained color enhancement can further boost visual appeal and expressiveness. However, colorists frequently face challenges in achieving accurate, localized color adjustments. Direct composition of these local edits can result in spatial color inconsistencies. Existing methods, including color style transfer and image harmonization, exhibit inconsistencies, especially at boundary regions. Addressing this, we present ChromaFusionNet (CFNet), a novel approach that views the color fusion problem through the lens of image color inpainting. Built on the Vision Transformer architecture, CFNet captures global context and delivers high-fidelity outputs, seamlessly blending colors while preserving boundary integrity. Empirical studies on ImageNet and COCO datasets demonstrate CFNet's superiority over existing methods in maintaining color harmony and color fidelity. Robustness evaluations and user studies have further validated the effectiveness of CFNet. In conclusion, CFNet introduces an innovative approach to seamless, fine-grained color fusion, paving the way for advancements in the domain of fine-grained color editing. Abstract:
Understanding of what drives mainstream consumers to purchase ethnic-inspired designs (EID) is lacking, and even less is understood about the self-centric values (personal values and product values) and the goal pursuits (enhancing self-view confidence) they project by consuming EID. We set out to fill this void, using image theory as a conceptual framework on data collected by a marketing research firm from 1,153 women on its female consumer panel. We found that mainstream consumers’ aspirations to enhance self-view confidence (self-enhancement) are a key driver determining their purchase intent toward EID products. We also found that self-enhancement is directly influenced by the product values (perceived aesthetics and novelty) of EID, and the effects of personal values (cultural openness and seeking personal style) on self-enhancement are mediated by product values.

Abstract:
Handwritten fonts possess unique expressive qualities; however, their clarity often suffers because of inconsistent handwriting. This study introduces FontFusionGAN (FFGAN), a novel method that enhances handwritten fonts by mixing them with printed fonts. The proposed approach leverages a generative adversarial network (GAN) to synthesize fonts that combine the desirable features of both handwritten and printed font styles. Training a GAN on a comprehensive dataset of handwritten and printed fonts enables it to produce legible and visually appealing font samples. The methodology was applied to a dataset of handwriting fonts, showing substantial enhancements in the legibility of the original fonts, while retaining their unique aesthetic essence. Unlike the original GAN setting where a single noise vector is used to generate a sample image, we randomly selected two noise vectors, z1 and z2, from a Gaussian distribution to train the generator. Simultaneously, we input a real image into the fusion encoder for exact reconstruction. This technique ensured the learning of style mixing during training. During inference, we provided the encoder with two font images, one handwritten and the other printed font, to obtain their respective latent vectors. Subsequently, the latent vector of the handwritten font image was injected into the first five layers of the generator, whereas the latent vector of the printed font image was injected into the last two layers to obtain a refined handwritten font image. The proposed method has the potential to improve the readability of handwritten fonts, offering benefits across diverse applications, such as document composition, letter writing, and assisting individuals with reading and writing difficulties.

Abstract:
Hardwood is widely used in the surface decoration of furniture and wood products due to its rich texture and durable surface, and the improvement of wood grain images is vital to promote the aesthetics of wood surfaces. In order to restore the Gaussian distribution of distorted wood grain images and reproduce a sharp and clear wood surface, a Gaussian histogram specification algorithm based on the constant mean and variance values of red (R), green (G), and blue (B), and an adaptive color adjustment algorithm based on the color extension of R, G, and B histograms was proposed, respectively. Objective evaluation methods of histogram distribution, colorfulness index, contrast index, and sharpness index were used independently to evaluate the visual effect of the images processed by the two algorithms. Objective and subjective evaluation results showed that although the Gaussian method had only a small influence on the visual effect of hardwood grain images, it could restore the distorted images by repairing the irregular color points to weaken the adverse impact on visual impression. Meanwhile, extra attention should be paid to the processing of images with prominent uneven color transitions, because the Gaussian method might have an imperceptible smoothing or enhancing effect. The adaptive color adjustment method had a favorable enhancement effect on most hardwood grain images. However, the color extension coefficients of the over-enhanced images should be reduced to eliminate overcompensation and color shift. Compared with the traditional enhancement method unsharp mask (USM) and the methods designed for sand-degraded images and underwater images, the proposed adaptive color adjustment at the 1.5 coefficient could effectively enhance the images from the perspective of wood grain visibility and color retention.

Abstract:
Based on current manual restoration methods, a better algorithm for restoring images based on sample blocks is proposed, along with a sustainable restoration technique for digital virtualization, with the aim of preserving and restoring the priceless art of ancient architectural motifs. The paper uses curve fitting to pre-process the restored photos by re-constructing their damaged borders and filling in the structural information that is absent with the aid of an enhancement of the Criminisi method. The repaired photos have improved edges that were previously blurry, fractured, and over-extended. In order to increase the dependability of the priority calculation when restoring photos and make it possible to acquire a more precise restoration order, we rewrote the priority calculation formula for restoration blocks in the Criminisi algorithm. The purpose was to enhance the aesthetics of the photographs and provide a viable and sustainable restoration technique for the restoration of ancient architectural motifs in Fujian. The Criminisi algorithm with deep learning is used in the thesis to fully restore the content, color, and texture of the architectural photographs, bringing the murals as close to their original state as is practical. In order to improve the blurry, broken, and over-extended edges of the restored images, the broken edges of the images are first repaired through image pre-processing. Then, adjustment factors are added to the priority calculation to increase the weight of the data items, resulting in a more accurate priority order while preventing the priority values from degrading quickly in the later stages of restoration. The PSNR values of the restored images were calculated and compared to those of the Criminisi method, demonstrating that the revised algorithm produces better restoration results and can effectively improve restoration efficiency while lowering restoration costs and ensuring pattern restoration sustainability. By retaining as much of the structural information of the original image as possible in the design of the network model and allocating larger weights to the structural part, this process also uses style migration in deep learning to restore the texture and color of the mural. As a result, the final image is as similar to the original image as possible in terms of content and as similar as possible to the style image in terms of color and texture. A better solution is proposed based on the Criminisi algorithm. By comparing the experimental results of the three sets of building images, the PSNR values of the priority improvement algorithm (30.26, 38.06, 39.56) were significantly better than those of the Criminisi algorithm (27.59, 37.06, 37.59), using the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) values as a reference standard. In order to determine the appropriate restoration sequence and enhance the quality of picture repair, the broken edges of the pattern are strengthened. The algorithm’s matching criteria can be applied in subsequent work to improve sample-matching accuracy and produce better sustainable restoration results for ancient architectural patterns in Fujian. It no longer requires specialized professional knowledge to reproduce the color of faded architectural photos; instead, a style migration approach is employed to recover the color and texture of architectural images. This study proposes the use of a texture synthesis method and a layered processing method through which the PSNR values of the resulting restored images calculated are superior and significantly higher than those of the sample-based method and the variational framework of synthetic images with regular texture components. We achieved the creation of an updated Criminisi algorithm-based solution that improves the quality of image restoration by fortifying the pattern’s frayed edges and determining the optimum repair order. These two techniques can be combined to improve the sustainability of restoration of faded architectural photographs for issues such as pattern breakage, color loss and fading. To achieve better restoration results for the historic architectural patterns in Fujian, the accuracy of sample matching can be increased, starting with the algorithm’s matching criterion.

Abstract:
Three-dimensional virtual reality (VR) environments, whether operating on desktop platforms or immersive screens, have been recognized for enabling novel and extremely engaging methods of interacting with digital content across various fields of application. Studies conducted over the past several years have also consistently suggested that utilizing 3D in contrast to 2D interfaces can lead to enhancements in multiple performance dimensions. These enhancements encompass better understanding and retention of information, increased capacity for inventive and efficient collaboration, and the ability to execute workflows that integrate numerous information sources more quickly. At the same time, how digital content such as documents, audio–visual content and web browsers are integrated into 3D spaces is often decided by the creators of the spaces based on either aesthetic considerations, or on a case-by-case basis depending on the workflow. In this paper, we present the results of an experiment we conducted to better understand how users prefer to arrange digital content in their 3D environments, depending on the subject matter, the format of the content (e.g., text-based, image, or audio–visual) and the 3D objects within the space. The results of the experiment presented in the paper can help inform future 3D VR design methodologies and may also provide support for automated content arrangement solutions.

Abstract:
With advancements in aesthetic medicine, breast augmentation has become a popular plastic surgery worldwide, typically performed using either fine-needle injection or silicone implants. Both carry complication risks from rupture over time. In this study, we aimed to reduce misjudgments and increase diagnostic value by developing an MRI technique that can produce water- and silicone-specific images from MRI scans of phantoms (Natrelle® saline-filled breast implants) and human bodies. Pig oil, soybean oil, and normal saline were used to simulate human breast tissue, and two common types of breast implants, saline bags, and silicone bags, were selected as well, resulting in five materials scanned. Six pulse sequences were applied: T1W fast spin echo (FSE), T1W SPGR/60, T2W, T2W fat-saturation, STIR, and STIR water-saturation. Human body scans were additionally investigated using 3D SPGR fat-saturation dynamic contrast enhancement. Results show that the best way to enhance tissue contrast in images of silicone implants is to apply STIR combined with water suppression, and the best way to enhance saline bag implants is to apply T2W fat-saturation combined with fat suppression. Both offered very high sensitivity and specificity, rendering this method especially useful for distinguishing normal mammary glands from siliconoma.

Abstract:
Introduction: Cutaneous ageing, an inherent process with advancing time, often detrimentally impacts self-esteem due to manifestations like wrinkles, blemishes, dehydration, sagging, and reduced tissue vitality. A contemporary trend seeks natural approaches to facial rejuvenation. Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) emerges as a noteworthy solution owing to its biological origin and autologous nature. Materials and Methods: Evaluating i-PRF's efficacy in counteracting ageing signs, we employed a 16 MHz high-frequency ultrasound device and meticulous photographic documentation. 26 females, aged 35-55, underwent three i-PRF sessions. Statistical scrutiny utilised a paired t-test (α = 0.05) to assess dermal modifications. Self-Perception Index scores underwent Wilcoxon testing (α = 0.05) for significant enhancements. Comparisons of newly captured frontal and profile photographs (D and E) with initial images aided visible change assessment. Results and Discussion: Compelling data analysis evidenced a notable dermal thickness increase post-intradermal i-PRF application. P-values for examined regions were: glabella (P < .00269), frontal D (P < .00018), frontal E (P < .00014), cheek D (P < .00709), and cheek E (P < .0008). These results underscore substantial dermal thickness alterations. Statistical examination of the Self-Perception Index yielded a P-value < .0001, signifying significant self-perception change post-treatment. Conclusion: Intradermal i-PRF application markedly increased dermal thickness, endorsing its potential for dermal restructuring. Furthermore, this approach presents an accessible, cost-effective, and unbiased alternative for facial rejuvenation.

Its research takes shape in the reactivation of large, issue-heavy industrial archaeology sites and compounds: former factories, former social villages, iconic architectural creations, with a great historical or aesthetic value, abandoned and underutilized, immersed in the powerful nature of the Dolomitic region. DC works on the redefinition of the mountain’s identity, building re-innovative and thematic critical images. In this sense, we refuse to recognize as an acceptable identity for the Alpine landscape the hotchpotch of stereotypical reductions which deliver a bland and reified vision of it, one that almost always involves plain and simple economic and touristic exploitation of the asset, to the detriment of its real potential’s nourishment. DC’s practice puts at the centre the need for re-enhancement and functional re-use of a few exceptional sites, which must be re-processed and re-activated. It is a responsible necessity of care and an opportunity for the regeneration of extraordinary underdeveloped sources of potential at the same time. Contemporary art, innovation culture, network strategies, those are some of the “techniques” through which such sites, so important in the past and now lifeless, are tackled, and morphed into cultural and artistic production centres, finally operative again, engines able to represent and provide new value to the territory.

Abstract:
Animated sequences of raster images that represent continuously varying surfaces, such as a temporal series of an evolving landform or an attribute series of socio-economic variation, are often used in an attempt to gain insight from ordered sequences of raster spatial data. Despite their aesthetic appeal and condensed nature, such representations are limited in terms of their suitability for prompting ideas and offering insight due to their poor information delivery and the lack of the levels of interactivity that are required to support visualization. Cartographic techniques aim to assist users of geographic information through processes of abstraction, by selecting, simplifying, smoothing and exaggerating when representing an underlying spatial data set graphically. Here we suggest a number of transformations and abstractions that take advantage of these techniques in a specific context–that of addressing the limitations associated with using animated raster surfaces for visualization, and propose them in the context of a framework that can be used to inform practice. The five techniques proposed are spatial and attribute smoothing, temporal interpolation, transformation of the surfaces into a network of morphometric features, the use of a graphic lag or fading and the employment of techniques for conditional interactivity that are appropriate for visualization. These efforts allow us to generate graphical environments that support visualization when using animated sequences of images representing continuous surfaces and are analogous to traditional cartographic techniques, namely, smoothing and exaggeration, simplification, enhancement and the various issues of design. By developing a framework for considering cartography in support of visualization from this particular type of data and phenomenon we aim to highlight the utility of a generically cartographic approach to information visualization. A number of particular techniques originating from computer science and conventional cartography are used in an application of the framework. A suitably interactive software tool is offered for evaluation–to establish the results of applying the framework and demonstrate ways in which we may augment the visualization of dynamic raster surfaces through animation and more generally aim to offer opportunity for insight through cartographic design.

Abstract:
<p>During the excavations carried out in summer 2011 in Piazza Anita Garibaldi in Ravenna, during construction of the new underground waste containers, five rooms decorated with mosaic floors were found, probably dating back to the early Roman Empire (1st-2ndcentury AD). The mosaics were removed for restoration and musealisation, however –given the size of the large lacunae-it would not be possible to reintegrate them in a traditional restoration without creating arbitrary reconstructions. Therefore, we opted for a digital reconstruction of the lacunae, attempting virtual restoration hypotheses for the recovered mosaics. Subsequently, it was possible to grasp the trend of the figuration and how it could have appeared in the past. The characteristics of many mosaics, such as the symmetry and the repetition of geometric patterns, make them suitable for both a simulated integration and are construction by the analogies of the pattern. As a matter of fact, we used simple and easily accessible software to perform this work. The purpose of this digital workflow was to give an example of virtual processing useful for conservators and restorers, as well as for scholars (archaeologists, art historians, etc.) that can be carried out without specific information technology expertise and computer skills. After the images were acquired digitally, we were able to proceed with the reconstruction of the floor, by taking into account the geometric motifs that make up the mosaic assembly and that made the recomposition the most reliable. The virtual restoration also provides the opportunity of simulating the type of integration and the colour so that scholars, restorers and conservators may evaluate the final appearance of the work and the different aesthetic choices. The virtual restoration is finally considered an essential tool for the enhancement of cultural heritage.</p><p><strong>Highlights:</strong></p><ul><li><p>An example of virtual restoration is presented relevant to Roman mosaics recently found in Ravenna (Italy).</p></li><li><p>A simulated integration by the analogies of the geometric patterns present in the mosaics allows a reliable reconstruction.</p></li><li><p>Virtual restoration results in a useful tool for enhancement, knowledge and improvement of understanding of mosaics by the general public.</p></li></ul>

Abstract:
Purpose Crime in public places is an increasing concern for the police, users of public places and the general public at large. Significantly, users of public transport facilities consistently perceive their risks from crime to be considerably higher, hurting levels of patronage. The aim of this study is to examine concerns for personal safety and measures that could improve sense of personal safety in a Nigerian public transport facility. This study further examines whether respondents’ perceptions determine frequent use of this public place. Explanatory factors are personal safety and place improvements concerns ratings. Design/methodology/approach The study adopted a case study. The selection of this was accomplished using carefully defined criteria in previous studies. The research process consists of three steps the on-site assessment, objective insecurity assessment and subjective insecurity survey. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Quantitative data were explored using mean ranking, percentages and correlation, whereas qualitative information was analysed using narrative techniques of reporting. To define the major determinants of the frequent use of this public place, a multiple ordinary least squares regression was constructed for variables in the correlation model. Findings Results show that places within the site are not designed to meet crime prevention through environmental design strategies, as 625 crimes were documented with thefts well above other listed crimes. Respondents exhibited a significant level of concern for their safety across all the factors enumerated while the most important improvements concern was enhancements to lighting. Generally, findings suggest that there is still much to be done to improve elements of surveillance, access control, territoriality, image management and activity support on the site. Regression model shows that efforts to enhance perceived safety of users would have major significance on the frequent use of this facility. Practical implications Policies on public place developments should be mainly in terms of tackling the environmental design of car parks and the effects of darkness at night time. This should involve improvement of lighting and the installation of CCTV, security camera as well as constant maintenance of bushes, vegetation, plants, trees and other elements of the landscape. Furthermore, the aesthetics of the site has to be attractive to users. The site and its closest surroundings have to be well-maintained and cared for. Besides, place lines and private areas must be defined with plants, pavement treatments, short walls or fences. Originality/value Previous studies on safety and security of public transport places, particularly rail facility, have mainly concentrated on the relations between fear of crime, perceived safety and place improvement concerns. To the best of authors’ knowledge, no study till date has explored how they correlate to the patronage of the transport facility, particularly in the sub-Saharan nations. This study contributes to existing literature having revealed perceived personal safety and transport place improvements concerns to be another important dimension of rail transport patronage in the Nigerian context.

Abstract:
Abstract The analysis and the interview of the author contained in this essay portray the work of a young Italian photographer, Giovanni Pasinato (Venice 1974-), who lives in the North East of Italy and who devotes himself to an activity encompassing important cognitive and ethical aspects. His work can be included within the Italian School of Landscape Photography (Luigi Ghirri, Guido Guidi, Giovanni Chiaramonte), but has original features in robust development. This essay will show how Pasinato’s photography—from his explorations of the “third landscape” along roads and highways, through his research in the urban scenes of Treviso and Venice Mestre, up to the latest reconnaissance of the Montello’s ancient wood (on whose endangered existence, Andrea Zanzotto, who died in 2011, wrote wonderful poems)—is entirely focused on the fundamental function of the “look,” thanks to which his work characterizes itself as an investigation, an instrument of the awareness, in the broad sense “political,” of the relationship between human being and place. Pasinato’s whispered, limpid yet at the same time ambiguous images, question their beholders, offering them a dialogue with the photographed spaces, underlining the stylistic indivisibility between form and content. In comparison to other landscape photography experiences, Pasinato’s works stand out, thanks to the absence of any subjective and aesthetic self-gratification and by favouring, through an essential enhancement of the “vision,” the revival of the close relationship between culture and nature and between human beings and other living beings. Just as his photographs stress the importance of our collective responsibility, ignoring any sentimental or nostalgic concession, they are an exhortation to raise awareness and, ultimately, hope. Thus, Pasinato ascribes to photography a highly artistic and civil function, which is often disregarded by those organizations and those authorities that should really care for the common good.

Abstract:
The primary need of people to dress has changed as time passed, because different high-tech fibers, yarns, fabrics, finishing applications, trends and society influences have completely changed. Welfare and comfort properties have become decisive components to make a product appreciated and successful. This paper presents the detailed explanation of clothing comfort, its subgroups and also the Physiological status and psychological status of the people. Clothing also known as clothes, apparel and attire is items worn on the body. Clothing is typically made of fabrics or textiles but over time has included garments made from animal skin or other thin layers of materials put together. The wearing of comfort clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of all human societies. Comfort or being comfortable is a sense of physical or psychological ease, often characterized as a lack of hardship. Persons who are lacking in comfort are uncomfortable, or experiencing discomfort. A degree of psychological comfort can be achieved by recreating experiences that are associated with pleasant. Persons who are surrounded with things that provide psychological comfort may be described as being "in their comfort zone". Because of the personal nature of positive associations, psychological comfort is highly subjective. As the year goes the word comfort is been used in all areas such as food, work, people and clothing. Thermal comfort is the condition of mind that expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment and is assessed by subjective evaluation. The human body will release excess heat into the environment, so the body can continue to operate. The heat transfer is proportional to temperature difference. Maintaining this standard of thermal comfort for occupants is one of the important goals of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) design engineers. And in designing of clothes is the most important goal of a fashion designer. There are six primary factors that directly affect thermal comfort that can be grouped in two categories: personal factors - because they are characteristics of the occupants - and environmental factors - which are conditions of the thermal environment. The former are metabolic rate and clothing level, the latter are air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air speed and humidity. Even if all these factors may vary with time, standards usually refer to a steady state to study thermal comfort, just allowing limited temperature variations. The study was conducted to know the responses about comfort clothing in Physiological status and psychological status acceptance. Since there are large variations from person to person in terms of physiological and psychological satisfaction, it is hard to find an optimal temperature for everyone in a ABSTRACT 62 International Journal for Modern Trends in Science and Technology given space. Survey is been collected to define conditions that will be found comfortable for a specified percentage of occupants, being comfortable is a sense of physical or psychological factors. Understanding clothing comfort, Need and consumer trends basic and universal need of consumers in clothing is comfort and they look for good feel and comfort when they buy clothing and other textile materials. Clothing is very important in our life that we use every day to obtain physiological and psychological comfort and also to ensure physical conditions around our body suitable for survival. Therefore, it is extremely important for the survival of human beings and improvement of the quality of our life to have good understanding of the fundamentals of clothing comfort. From the viewpoint of the manufacturers of clothing and textile materials, understanding of clothing comfort has substantial financial implications in the effort to satisfy the needs and wants of consumers in order to obtain sustainable competitive advantages in modern consumer markets. Consumer always expects some additional functional qualities from the clothes they purchase. Clothing is manufactured in a wide range of thermal, tactile and physical properties to meet consumer needs. Depending on the nee. and expectations of the consumer's, the clothing and textile manufacturers provide wide range of options to enhance human comfort. For example, clothing made from blends and natural fibres are preferred to man-made fibres for all comfort attributes except smoothness or woven fabric are preferred to knits for smoothness, thickness and openness. To understand the basics of clothing comfort, sensory tools as well as the equipment’s to evaluate the comfort related characteristics of textile materials have been developed. Large number of studies has been carried out and many equipment are developed in the textile and clothing area such as mechanical, thermal and surface testing, so as to evaluate the related physical properties, but the body between measurement and the consumer feeling of comfort are still difficult to establish. Consumers want everything from the clothing, i.e. it should look good, feel good, perform well, said like their clothing to match with their chosen attitudes, roles and images. Consumers are now allowing touch, smell, intuition, and emotion to influence their decision on clothing selection more than their aesthetic sense. Asa result, great importance is being attributed to the wearing experience and thus comfort is being reinforced as a key parameter in clothing. It is also true that requirements of consumers on comfort changes with products and situations. Clearly, understanding and satisfying the needs of consumer towards clothing products are crucial for the long-term survival and growth of clothing and textile demand. Understanding and enhancement of clothing comfort is definitely one of the important issues.

Abstract:
Mobile Photography has been brought to a significantly new level in the last several years. The quality of images taken by the compact lenses of a smartphone have now appreciably increased. Now, even some of the low- end phones of the market spectrum are able to take exceedingly good photos in suitable availability of lighting, due to the advancement in numerous software methods for processing the images post capture. However, despite these tools, these cam- eras still fall behind the aesthetic capabilities of their DSLR counterparts. In the quest to achieve high quality images through a smartphone camera, various image semantics are inadvertently ignored leading to a less artistic image quality than a pro- fessional camera. Although numerous techniques for manual as well as computerized image en- hancement tasks do exist, they are generally only focused on brightness or contrast and other such global parameters of the image and does not go on to improve the content or texture of the image and neither do they take the various semantics of the image into account. Moreover, they are usually based on a predetermined set of rules that never considers the actual device specifics that is capturing the image — the smartphone camera. For our enhancement, we have endeavored to use a unique deep learning technique to transform lower quality images from a smartphone camera into DSLRquality images. To enhance the image sharpness, we have used an error function that combines the three losses - the content, texture and color loss from the given image. By training on the large-scale DSLR Photo Enhancement Dataset, we have optimized the loss function using Generative Adversarial Networks. The end results produced after testing on a number of smartphone images yield enhanced quality images comparable to the DSLR images with an average SSIM score of approximately 0.95.

Abstract:
AbstractLow‐light image enhancement is a longstanding challenge in low‐level vision, as images captured in low‐light conditions often suffer from significant aesthetic quality flaws. Recent methods based on deep neural networks have made impressive progress in this area. In contrast to mainstream convolutional neural network (CNN)‐based methods, an effective solution inspired by the transformer, which has shown impressive performance in various tasks, is proposed. This solution is centred around two key components. The first is an image synthesis pipeline, and the second is a powerful transformer‐based pre‐trained model, known as the low‐light image enhancement transformer (LIET). The image synthesis pipeline includes illumination simulation and realistic noise simulation, enabling the generation of more life‐like low‐light images to overcome the issue of data scarcity. LIET combines streamlined CNN‐based encoder‐decoders with a transformer body, efficiently extracting global and local contextual features at a relatively low computational cost. The extensive experiments show that this approach is highly competitive with current state‐of‐the‐art methods. The codes have been released and are available at LIET.
