Abstract:
This paper introduces a novel approach to speed-sensorless predictive torque control (PTC) in an autonomous wind energy conversion system, specifically utilizing an asymmetric double star induction generator (ADSIG). To achieve accurate estimation of non-linear quantities, the Gaussian Process Regression algorithm (GPR) is employed as a powerful machine learning tool for designing speed and flux estimators. To enhance the capabilities of the GPR, two improvements were implemented, (a) hyperparametric optimization through the Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm and (b) curation of the input vector using the gray box concept, leveraging our existing knowledge of the ADSIG. Simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed GPR-PTC would remain robust and unaffected by the absence of a speed sensor, maintaining performance even under varying magnetizing inductance. This enables a reliable and cost-effective control solution.

"Gene silencing of myofibrillogenesis regulator-1 by adenovirus-delivered small interfering RNA suppresses cardiac hypertrophy induced by angiotensin II in mice." Abstract:
Our previous studies proved that myofibrillogenesis regulator (MR)-1 has a close relationship with cardiac hypertrophy induced by ANG II. In the present study, we developed a recombinant adenoviral vector (AdSiR-MR-1) driving small interfering (si)RNA against MR-1 to evaluate its effect on cardiac hypertrophy in vivo. Cardiac hypertrophy was induced by chronic ANG II infusion in mice; AdSiR-MR-1 was administered via the jugular vein through one bolus injection. Thirteen days after the injection, viral DNA was still detectable in the heart, validating the efficiency of gene transfer. Expression levels of MR-1 mRNA and protein were increased by 2.5-fold in the heart after ANG II infusion; AdSiR-control, which contained a scrambled siRNA sequence, had no effect on them. AdSiR-MR-1 treatment abolished the upregulation of MR-1 induced by ANG II. The silencing effect of AdSiR-MR-1 was observed in many other tissues, such as the liver, lung, and kidney, except skeletal muscle. ANG II-induced cardiac hypertrophy was suppressed in mice treated with AdSiR-MR-1, as determined by echocardiography. Morphological and immnohistochemical examinations revealed that interstitial cardiac fibrosis as well as infiltrating inflammatory cells were increased after ANG II infusion; AdSiR-MR-1 greatly ameliorated these disorders. In ANG II-infused mice, MR-1 silencing also blocked the upregulation of other genes related to cardiac hypertrophy or metabolism of the extracellular matrix. In summary, our results demonstrate the feasibility of MR-1 silencing in vivo and suggest that MR-1 could be a potential new target to treat cardiac hypertrophy induced by ANG II.

Abstract:
Trichloroanisole (TCA) in wine results in a sensory defect called “cork taint”, a significant problem for the wine industry. Wines can become contaminated by TCA absorption from the atmosphere through contaminated wood barrels, cork stoppers, and wood pallets. Air-depleted solvent-impregnated (ADSI) cork powder (CP) was used to mitigate TCA in wines. The ADSI CP (0.25 g/L) removed 91% of TCA (6 ng/L levels), resulting in an olfactory activity value of 0.14. A Freundlich isotherm described ADSI CP TCA adsorption with irreversible adsorption and a KF = 33.37. ADSI CP application had no significant impact on the phenolic profile and chromatic characteristics of red wine. Using headspace sampling with re-equilibration, an average reduction in the volatile abundance of 29 ± 15%, 31 ± 19%, and 37 ± 24% was observed for the 0.10, 0.25, and 0.50 g/L ADSI CP, respectively. The alkyl esters and acids were the most affected. The impact observed was much lower when using headspace sampling without re-equilibration. Isoamyl acetate, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl hexanoate, and ethyl decanoate abundances were not significantly different from the control wine and 0.25 g/L ADSI CP application. Thus, ADSI CP can be a new sustainable fining agent to remove this “off-flavor” from wine, with a reduced impact on the wine characteristics.

Abstract:
Abstract The streaming instability (SI) is one of the most promising candidates for triggering planetesimal formation by producing dense dust clumps that undergo gravitational collapse. Understanding how the SI operates in realistic protoplanetary disks (PPDs) is therefore crucial to assess the efficiency of planetesimal formation. Modern models of PPDs show that large-scale magnetic torques or winds can drive laminar gas accretion near the disk midplane. In a previous study, we identified a new linear dust-gas instability, the azimuthal drift SI (AdSI), applicable to such accreting disks and is powered by the relative azimuthal motion between dust and gas that results from the gas being torqued. In this work, we present the first nonlinear simulations of the AdSI. We show that it can destabilize an accreting, dusty disk even in the absence of a global radial pressure gradient, which is unlike the classic SI. We find the AdSI drives turbulence and the formation of vertically extended dust filaments that undergo merging. In dust-rich disks, merged AdSI filaments reach maximum dust-to-gas ratios exceeding 100. Moreover, we find that even in dust-poor disks the AdSI can increase local dust densities by 2 orders of magnitude. We discuss the possible role of the AdSI in planetesimal formation, especially in regions of an accreting PPD with vanishing radial pressure gradients.

Abstract:
This thesis presents an analysis of cadet training at the Royal War Academy between 1792 and 1866. The purposes of this study are to problematise the Academy's function and to investigate male social reproduction amongst the Swedish upper classes. Two different aspects of social reproduction are studied: the transmission of social position between generations; and the communication of ideals and lifestyle that were linked to the position that was reproduced. The former was studied with the help of Pierre Bourdieu's terminology, while the latter necessitated the use of theoretical perspectives on masculinity. This thesis demonstrates the changes in the preconditions for male social reproduction, and relates them to the transition from a late feudal to a capitalist society. At the end of the eighteenth century, the usual route to a military career was still through the family's personal contacts in the armed forces. In Bourdieu's terms, this was a very direct means of transferring symbolic capital, and one that also required social capital. With the emergence of the middle class, the Academy's recruitment patterns altered. This process coincided with the emergence of a Swedish education system, and cadet training gradually adapted to fit with other elements in the school system. The ability to transfer symbolic capital directly to the next generation crumbled in the face of a system where education was necessary for the reproduction of a social position. Unlike the shifting shape of social reproduction, masculine upbringing was central at the Academy throughout the whole period. The cadets entered as boys and left as men. In this process, relationships within the cadet corps were of crucial importance. The new cadets first had to subordinate themselves to their elders, and then in turn subordinate others. It was this social order that ensured the cadets learnt a harsh lesson in leadership.

Abstract:
An airport node-link network model is an important input for most airport simulation models. Developing, maintaining and updating detailed airport surface node-link models require significant work. A model to convert airport geographic and geometric information into a node-link network is thus needed. In this thesis, an efficient model to automate the procedure of converting airport geographic and geometric information into a node-link network is proposed. The geographic and geometric information are obtained from the Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM). The node-link network is generated by converting the geographic and geometric information contained into the AIXM files using coincident geometry management and polygon representation development. Finally, using the airport node-link network generation model, a standalone computer application, called Taxiway Toolkit, is developed to improve the Airfield Delay Simulation Model (ADSIM+).

SINGH, RAMESH. "SOME INVESTIGATIONS ON MULTI-PHASE INDUCTION GENERATOR FOR WIND ENERGY APPLICATION." Thesis, 2018. http://dspace.dtu.ac.in:8080/jspui/handle/repository/17483.

Abstract:
NS ON MULTI-PHASE INDUCTION GENERATOR FOR WIND ENERGY APPLICATION ABSTRACT With the depletion of the reserves of coal and fossil fuels, renewable sources viz. solar, wind, tidal waves, geothermal etc. are finding great attention for energy generation. The share of Wind energy is rapidly increasing due to their robust structure and direct connectivity to the grid. Latest research and development in the generator and power converter topology has led to remediation of generation constraint. New topologies of generators including multiphase induction generators with dual stator winding sets are represented as leading prominent contenders recently. The variable reactive power demanded by induction generators often pose a major issue which magnifies multifold when operated in a wind farm. Various researches are reported that minimize the contribution of reactive power from the grid along with interaction of generators on account of reactive power. Research is due for understanding the behavior of multiphase induction generator during low voltage on the grid end. This demand for analysis of air gap flux for transient operations and development of model to explore the potential of multiphase induction generators for application to three port energy device for distribution of generated energy along with capability of power transfer across the winding sets. The work carried out in this thesis is focused on the transient and steady state analysis of Asymmetrical Dual Stator Induction Generator (ADSIG) and comparing it with Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) and Symmetrical Dual Stator Induction Generator (SDSIG) for various operating conditions. For doing so, a new decoupled equivalent circuit model of ADSIG is developed in d-q frame by transferring the rotor side winding v leakage inductance to both the stators side circuit and the magnetization branch. The developed model of ADSIG is developed in MATLAB SIMULINK environment for observing the response in generation mode. A finite element model of the machine is also developed in INFOLYTICA MOTORSOLVE software to estimate its performance. Based on the model and design a hardware prototype of ADSIG is developed in laboratory to study the behavior of ADSIG. A detailed comparison of SDSIG and ADSIG is done with special emphasis on the air-gap flux when these generators are subjected to different types of loading conditions. A comparison is also been drawn for reactive power demanded by ADSIG, SDSIG and SCIG in respect of peak inrush currents. The analytical study is then validated both through simulations and experimentation in grid coupled mode. Three applications of ADSIG are also explored dually supported with study, simulation and experimental results namely soft coupling of two distribution feeder, dispatachable power transfer to grid, rural electrification. Application 1: The application of ADSIG as a three port network for routing power two different AC feeders under conditions of with and without wind energy inception is evaluated. ADSIG here in acts as a soft coupler routing of power between the feeders depending upon the loading on the respective feeder in absence of wind, and distributing the generated energy to the loaded feeder side automatically. The analysis is duly validated through simulation and experimentation results. Application 2: The problem of intermittent power generation is often not acceptable to weak AC grids in presence of variable wind conditions. An energy storage system (ESS) for curbing the intermittency and providing dispatchable study to such generation is often a requisite. A study of connection of ESS at one end and connection of grid at the other vi end of ADSIG is made through analysis where in duly substantiated through analytical and experimental study. Application 3: Further a cost effective method for rural electrification is also proposed by using multiple ADSIGs to harvest the generated energy and provides power to the rural loads. The analysis and experimentation is done using both low wind speed (transformer action of ADSIG) and sufficient wind speed conditions (generator action of ADSIG) for reducing the effective loading on the rural feeder. All the analytical, simulated and hardware results are coherent and support for the candidacy of ADSIG to such applications.

Abstract:
Incremental forming is a flexible dieless forming process. In incremental forming, the metal sheet is clamped around its periphery. One or multiple generic stylus-type tools move along a predefined toolpath, incrementally deforming the sheet metal into a final, freeform shape. Compared with the traditional sheet metal forming process, the incremental forming process is more flexible, energy efficient and cost effective due to lower capital investment related to tooling. However, maintaining tight geometric tolerances in incremental formed parts can be a challenge. Specifically, undesired global bending is usually induced near the region between the tools and fixture resulting in a compromise in geometric accuracy. To address this issue, Accumulated Double-Sided Incremental Forming (ADSIF) is proposed, which utilizes two tools on both sides of the metal to better achieve localized deformation while simultaneously constraining global bending outside the forming area. Moreover, in ADSIF, the two tools are moving from inward to outward, and thus the tools are always forming virgin material and so as to limit forces on the already-formed part. Thus, ADSIF has a higher potential to achieve the desired geometry. Nevertheless, tool deflection due to machine compliance is still an issue that can have a considerable effect on geometric accuracy. In this work, the effect of tool deflection related to part geometry is studied for the ADSIF process. The nature of using two tools, rather than one, in ADSIF inherently implies that relative tool position is a critical process parameter. It is the region near these two tools where local squeezing and bending of the sheet occurs, the primary modes of deformation found in ADSIF. The change of relative tool positions (i.e., tool gap and relative position angle) are studied in detail by first developing an analytical model. It is concluded that the tool gap will be enlarged under the influence of tool compliance while the relative position angle is less affected. Additionally, a finite element simulation capable of modeling tool deflection is established. The comparison between the simulation results using rigid tools and deformable ones clearly demonstrated the significant influence of tool compliance on part geometry. Lastly, an axisymmetric part with varying wall angles was formed, and it was confirmed that ADSIF demonstrates improved geometry accuracy compared with conventional Double-Sided Incremental Forming.

Unlike Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) and Double-Sided Incremental Forming (DSIF), ADSIF does not impose forces on the already-formed part and therefore, has the potential of achieving higher geometric accuracy. A systematic method is proposed in this work to study the influences of the relative tool positions on the local formed shape and the final geometry, which is essentially the accumulation of all previously formed local deformations. Meanwhile, the concepts of the stable angle and the peak angle are introduced to better describe the cross-sectional geometry of a formed part with a constant wall angle at that particular cross-section. It is recommended, while multiple combinations of the relative positions of two forming tools may achieve the same stable angle, that the positioning parameters should be chosen such that the resultant forming force or the wall angle variation between the stable and peak angles is minimized.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A kölcsönrendezés történetéről részletesebben a Fons folyóiratban megjelent két részes tanulmányunkból lehet tájékozódni: I. rész, II. rész.
