Abstract:
Ce travail porte sur les représentations de l’adolescence dans le cinéma indépendant contemporain. Il s’agit d’examiner la mise en images et en discours de ce phénomène social dans six films issus d’Europe et d’Amérique et sortis en salle entre 2009 et 2014. En nous inscrivant en Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication, nous articulons une approche sémiotique et pragmatique afin de rendre compte des aspects plastiques, esthétiques et communicationnels des films du corpus. Notre analyse poétique et socio-politique explore simultanément le langage cinématographique, les conditions de production et l’horizon d’attente auxquels renvoient les œuvres.La première partie rend compte de la construction du cadre analytique et de la démarche analytique qui articule adolescence, cinéma et représentation. La deuxième partie de la thèse saisit les formes et les effets de sens des films. Le corps y est analysé comme le fondement de la représentation de l’adolescence, un objet sémiotique, social et politique. La troisième partie de la recherche s’intéresse à l’émergence d’images des corps adolescents et de discours susceptibles d’engendrer un regard sur l’adolescence cinématographique en tant que construction symbolique et sociale.La thèse conclut que ces films en tant que discours sur l’univers adolescent, invitent à une interprétation délibérative sur le monde social, historique et culturel qui est convoqué dans les films. L’angle sémio-pragmatique met en relief la manière dont les discours sur l’adolescence constituent des discours sociaux qui prônent une prise de position sur la place allouée à la jeunesse dans le monde social
This work focuses on the representations of adolescence in contemporary independent cinema. It is a question of examining the presentation in images and in discourse of this social phenomenon in six films coming from Europe and America and released in room between 2009 and 2014. By situating ourselves in the domains of Sciences of the Information and Communication, we articulate a semiotic and pragmatic approach to account for the plastic, aesthetic and communicational aspects of the films of the corpus. Our poetic and socio-political analysis simultaneously explores the cinematographic language, the conditions of production and the horizon of expectation to which the works refer.The first part sets out the theoretical categories and the method to follow to detect the relations between adolescence, cinema and representation. The second part captures the forms and effects of meaning of the films. The body is taken as the foundation of the representation of adolescence, a semiotic, social and political object. The third part focuses on the emergence of images of adolescent bodies and discourses likely to engender a look at cinematographic adolescence as a symbolic and social construction.The thesis concludes that these films constitute discourses on the adolescent universe, invite to deliberation, using a set of filmic forms that lead to reflections on the social, historical and cultural world that is deployed there. The semio-pragmatic angle makes it possible to interpret the messages that feature films want to deliver on the content of these representations in the frameworks of societies, the way in which the discourses on adolescence conform to social discourses that advocate a stance on this phenomenon

L'étude s'intéresse à la réception des films d'action à grand spectacle (F. A. G. S. ) par des adolescents de milieux populaires sur la base d'une étude de terrain et entretiens dans des lycées professionnels. Elle définit l'imagerie du fags avec les catégories demolitio, deflagratio, superproduction. Dans l'histoire hollywoodienne le fags assimile les genres précédents. Il est esthétique de l'argent en grande quantité, richesse déployée et détruite, au sens où celui-ci consomme plus de capitaux qu'aucun cinéma avant lui. Lors de ses pratiques de cinéma, la " société adolescente " part à la conquête (achat, location, piratage) des produits de ce marché mondial. L'analyse de cette réception souligne le désir et le plaisir de ce public pour la dilapidation et la technique. Nous y montrons comment l'abandon à cet objet visuel et l'autorité du goût partagé en font un " acte populaire ", comment on en devient amateur et comment ce cinéma entre dans le schéma de l'échange symbolique inégal
The study will focus on the perception and use of Blockbuster Action Films (in french F. A. G. S. ) by working-class teenagers based on surveys conducted in technical schools. It defines the imagery of the FAGS. With categories of demolitio, deflagratio and the spectacular. In the Hollywood history the FAGS. Assimilates the preceding genres. It is aesthetic dimension of money in great quantity, richness unfolding and being destroyed, because it consumes more money than any other cinema previously. The "teenage society" is conquering this world market by buying, leasing and pirating its creations. The analysis of this perception and acceptance underlines the desire and the pleasure of this public for the destruction and technical wizardry of these films. We show how the infatuation with this visual object and the authority of the shared appreciation create a "popular act of it", how one comes to appreciate FAGS and how this cinema takes its place in the unequal symbolic system exchange

Les enfants et les adolescents sont-ils des acteurs de cinéma? À l'évidence, oui. En retraçant l'historique des représentations filmiques de l'enfance et de l'adolescence, en effectuant une mise au point sur les singularités (actorales, psychologiques, juridiques) du jeune comédien et les moyens adoptés (notamment dans le système hollywoodien) pour encadrer ses prestations, nous mettons en avant l'idée d'une émergence et d'une évolution récentes du statut de l'enfant acteur. L'essentiel de notre démonstration repose sur une étude comparée des films et des méthodes de travail de Steven Spielberg et de Jacques Doillon: leurs innovations en matière de direction d'acteur ont en effet permis au jeune comédien d'accéder à une qualité et une complexité de jeu inégalées. Des entretiens inédits avec Jacques Doillon, Caroline Champetier, Xavier Beauvois, Emmanuelle Bercot et Claire Simon - ainsi qu'une analyse approfondie des rushes de Ponette, film clef de notre étude complètent ce travail.

En partant d'une recherche filmique sur les jeunes et l'amour dans un quartier populaire, cette thèse, entre sciences sociales et cinéma, recherche et création, soulève une question de société - comment les jeunes composent avec les normes sociales imposées par leurs groupes d'appartenance ? - et une question de cinéma - en quoi le détour par la fiction et l'improvisation permet d'enquêter sur des réalités sociales et d'imaginer d'autres façons de travailler avec les enquêtés ?Elle est basée sur une enquête ethnographique de plusieurs années dans un quartier ouvrier et d'immigration de la région parisienne (Les Mureaux, Yvelines), ainsi que sur des ateliers cinéma et le tournage d'un film (La cour des murmures) entre fiction et documentaire avec des jeunes habitants âgés de 15 à 20 ans.Dans cet espace où l'interconnaissance est très développée et chacun veille à sa réputation, les jeunes montrent difficilement leurs sentiments et sont souvent contraints de jouer un rôle social. Nous avons voulu étudier la spécificité de cette présentation de soi théâtrale, qui est à la fois une contrainte – l'injonction à adopter une attitude propre à la morale du quartier – et un mode de survie et de résistance, puisqu'elle permet aussi d'échapper aux regards des autres et de manière plus large aux normes sociales qui pèsent sur ces jeunes.Le film est l'occasion de créer un espace de parole privilégié qui permet la réflexivité. Il devient alors un moyen de co-construire la recherche avec les filmés et de sortir des représentations dominantes sur les jeunes des quartiers populaires.L'écrit revient sur les questions de société et les questions de cinéma qui ont habité cette recherche. Il rend compte de la pensée à l'œuvre dans le film, aussi bien sociologique que cinématographique. Il revient sur ses conditions de fabrication, ses choix de réalisation, ses inspirations théoriques, les « moments de vie cinématographiques » qui ont émergé dans cette recherche
Starting from a filmic research on young people and love in a working-class neighborhood, this thesis, between social sciences and cinema, research and creation, raises a question of society - how young people deal with the social norms imposed by their groups of belonging? - and a question of cinema - how does the detour through fiction and improvisation allow us to investigate social realities and to imagine other ways of working with the surveyed ? It is based on a multi-year ethnographic survey in a working-class and immigration district of Paris suburbs (Les Mureaux - Yvelines), as well as on film workshops and the shooting of a film (The court of whispers) between fiction and documentary with young inhabitants aged 15 to 20 years old. In this space, where acquaintanceship is highly developed and each ensures his reputation, young people have difficulty showing their feelings and are often forced to play a social role. We wanted to study the specificity of this theatrical self-presentation, which is both a constraint - the injunction to adopt an attitude specific to the morality of the neighborhood - and a mode of survival and resistance, since it also allows to escape the eyes of others and more broadly the social norms that weigh on these young people. The film is an opportunity to create a privileged space of speech that allows reflexivity. It becomes a way of co-constructing research with the filmed and to release dominant representations of young people from working-class neighborhoods. The writing goes back to the social issues and cinema issues that have led this research. It reflects the thought in the film, both sociological and cinematographic. He goes back on his conditions of fabrication, his choices of realization, his theoretical inspirations, the "moments of cinematographic life" that emerged in this research

Le travail developpe dans cette these s'appuie sur des donnees cinematographiques et analyse, sur l'echelle d'une decennie, l'evolution de la representation filmique du phenomene de l'adolescence, apparu aux etats-unis au debut des annees cinquante. Notre problematique s'articule autour de deux points : - le premier est d'ordre evenementiel. Il concerne les chocs intenses vecus par l'opinion publique americaine lors de la sortie des films suivants : l'equipee sauvage en 1953, graine de violence et la fureur de vivre en 1955. Ces films proposaient une vision de la jeunesse totalement inedite, montrant l'univers desordonne et violent d'un groupe social en pleine formation. - d'ordre structurel, le second point se rapporte a la maniere dont se sont edifies, cinematographiquement parlant, l'archetype puis le stereotype de l'adolescent. The arguments developed in this thesis lean on cinematographics data and analyse how the phenomenon of adolescence appeared, simultaneously, in the american pictures and society of the fifties. Our general approach is based on two initial points : - the first one may be qualified as historical. It concerns the shocks endured by the american society when the wild one (1953), blackboard jungle or rebel without a cause (both in 1935) were projected. Effectively, these movies proposed an original vision of american youth, for they showed the violent and desorganised universe of an active and, up to this date, ignored social group. - the second point is sociological and must be related to the way that movies builded up the archetype and the stereotype of adolescence. Esta dissertação inicia a sua análise debruçando-se sobre as representações da adolescência no cinema de Hollywood, no período após a II Guerra Mundial, numa tentativa de determinar alguns acontecimento que afectaram a forma como essas representações evoluíram até ao final da década de 80. Finalmente, uma reflexão sobre os aspectos mais relevantes das representações da adolescência no cinema na época conservadora de Ronald Reagan. ABSTRACT: This present study aims to examine different representations of American youth in Hollywood film, particularly in the 1980s. This dissertation begins with an examination of some representations of American youth after World War II in an attempt to investigate the trends which affected its representations and how they have evolved from then until the end of the 1980s. Finally, it offers some detailed reflections on depictions of adolescence in Hollywood film during the Reagan years.

Audio-visual productions made by adolescents are not new. The novelty lies in the ease, due to the democratisation of digital technologies, to produce and circulate them. For a few days, we will have the opportunity to watch, in this imaginary showcase, the audio-visuals produced by adolescents in the city of Recife. We would then talk with directors, characters, social scientists, planners, critics and philosophers, discussing some of the issues raised by this production. An imaginary showcase highlights underground dialogues, the passions, the plurality of views and the diversity of issues prompted by the universe of the audio-visuals, incorporating paradoxes, enhancing the poetry. It allows a light tilt between the singular and the universal, between different historical times, multiple geographic areas, different knowledge and numerous characters. And perhaps more than a tilt between these different times and spaces, to integrate them, as a symphony - using the metaphor considered to be so precious by Claude Levi-Strauss - in which each instrument in its unique timbre performs its melody composing something beyond it. Now, ladies and gentlemen, please make sure your mobile phones are off!
O audiovisual produzido por adolescentes não é uma novidade. A novidade reside na facilidade, decorrente da democratização das tecnologias digitais, de produzir e de fazer circular essa produção. Durante alguns dias, teremos a oportunidade de assistir, nessa Mostra Imaginária, a audiovisuais produzidos por adolescentes da cidade do Recife, e de conversarmos com realizadores, personagens, cientistas sociais, urbanistas, críticos, filósofos, problematizando algumas questões suscitadas por essa produção. Uma Mostra Imaginária coloca em evidência os diálogos subterrâneos, as paixões, a pluralidade de olhares e a diversidade de questões que o universo dos audiovisuais escolhidos suscitam, incorporando paradoxos, potencializando a poesia. Permite bascular com leveza entre o singular e o universal, entre diversos tempos históricos, múltiplos espaços geográficos, saberes distintos e inúmeros personagens. E talvez, mais que bascular entre esses diversos tempos e espaços, integrá-los, como numa sinfonia para usar uma metáfora cara a Claude Lévi-Strauss , em que cada instrumento no seu timbre único executa sua melodia compondo algo que lhe ultrapassa. The starting point of this study is the project "Children and Animated Film", held by the “Cinemateca de Curitiba” between 1976 and 1983 that innovated the relationship between cinema and education in municipal schools. Its innovative character, allow us to compare it to contemporary audiovisual projects, which production and enjoyment of work towards audiovisual democratization. The main view expressed here is that cinema in its artistic dimension, educational and humanistic builds bridges between educators and filmmakers working in the perspective of education as the practice of freedom. Evaluate the relationships between cinema and education requires us to pass beyond the awareness and criticality of the cinematic look of the children considering the school as a space for development and enjoyment of cinema as art. It also allow us think the role of the film-maker in school and how their technical knowledge / aesthetic contributes to the process. The main objective of this study is to reflect on the development of relations between cinema and the education in Curitiba, its practices and actors, with reference to the project, "Child and Animation Film" and contemporary experiences in audiovisual. The theory reference is based on education concepts, philosophy, sociology and anthropology, from key authors such as Alain Bergala, for whom the school should be a place of incorporation and enjoyment of cinema as art. Love the movie and understand it requires the adoption of a pedagogy of creation, not just of contemplation.
O ponto de partida deste estudo é o Projeto “Criança e Cinema de Animação”, realizado pela Cinemateca de Curitiba entre 1976 e 1983 que inovou as relações do cinema com a educação, na rede municipal de ensino. Seu caráter inovador permite compará-lo a projetos audiovisuais contemporâneos, cuja produção e fruição trabalham no sentido da democratização audiovisual. A tese aqui defendida é a de que o audiovisual em sua dimensão artística, educativa e humanística constrói pontes entre educadores e cineastas que atuam na perspectiva da educação como prática da liberdade. Pensar as relações entre audiovisual e educação exige que se perpasse a sensibilização e criticidade do olhar cinematográfico das crianças tendo a escola como espaço de incorporação e de sua fruição. Permite ainda pensar qual o papel do cineasta na escola e como seu conhecimento técnico/estético contribui para o processo. O objetivo desse estudo é refletir sobre o desenvolvimento das relações entre o audiovisual e a educação em Curitiba, suas práticas e atores, tendo como referência o projeto, Criança e Cinema de Animação e experiências contemporâneas em audiovisual. O referencial teórico está ancorado em conceitos da educação, filosofia, sociologia e antropologia, a partir de autores fundamentais como Alain Bergala, para quem a escola deve ser um espaço de incorporação e fruição do cinema enquanto arte. Amar o cinema e a compreendê-lo exige a adoção de uma pedagogia da criação, não apenas de contemplação.

Lo scopo dell’elaborato è quello di studiare il mondo degli adolescenti giapponesi ponendo maggiore attenzione al modo in cui la struttura della società moderna influenza la nascita e la diffusione di alcuni comportamenti anomali. In particolare si è scelto di esaminare i seguenti fenomeni: suicidio, hikikomori e episodi di violenza efferata—espressa con il termine kireru—con relativo trattamento giuridico. Lo studio è supportato dall’analisi di opere cinematografiche contemporanee in lingua giapponese che presentano stretti legami con ognuna delle tematiche sopracitate. Per quanto riguarda la questione del suicidio, il film scelto è il lungometraggio di animazione Colorful (2010) di Hara Keiichi. Il fenomeno degli hikikomori è stato indagato in maniera più introspettiva attraverso l’opera di stampo documentaristico Tobira no Mukō (2008) del regista britannico Laurence Thrush. Infine, per affrontare il tema del kireru è stata proposta una lettura del thriller Kokuhaku (2010) di Nakashima Tetsuya.

Abstract:
The present study sought to understand the interest teenagers have of the horror genre. In order to achieve this objective, the research is qualitative approach, features an exploratory character, and utilizes a focal group as a data analysis technique. The focal group was comprised of students from a state school in the countryside of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The school has a project that aims to develop a cinema workshop in which the focal group had been attending in order to produce a short film of their liking. In order to select participants, the students who had attended the cinema workshop were informed about the objectives and asked if they would like to participate. Sixteen teenagers showed interest and were divided into three focal groups. Respectively, the groups were composed of 5, 3 and 8 participants. The number of participants in each group was based on the saturation criteria, which limits the number of people in a group when the participants no longer come up with new ideas in terms of content as they because repetitive. Regarding the data analysis, a content analysis technique was utilized. The categories were based upon the analysis and were presented in two articles, in a way that the categories converge in order to comprehend the great interest that teenagers display regarding the horror genre. The first article approaches such matter in a wide manner and analyses the participants speech as to grasp the intimate relation between adolescence and horror films. The article also presents and discusses the first moments and the importance of these encounters with cinema, as well as the meaning to the participants. The second article focuses on the horror genres relevance and singularities towards the participants. The results point to the fact that the fascination unleashed by these films occupies a privileged place in the teenagers lives. Being in front of these moving images, as well as in a dream, allows the participants to live within a mirror maze, allowing them to meet with what is the realest, the most private and most obscure of themselves. Furthermore, the contact with film narratives when practiced in childhood is related to the absence of parents, the experience of abandonment lived by others. Contact with fiction allows them to actively experience horror, which in real life, was experienced passively and traumatically. The presence of the horror genre returns intensively in adolescence due to great changes during puberty and excessive impulses. Hence, teenagers have the need to witness this being experienced by others to be able get through this phase in their lives. However, again, teenagers see themselves as abandoned and seek, in the horror genre, the possibility of an active position, in addition to shared experiences, which constructs a symbolic bond.
O presente estudo buscou compreender o grande interesse dos adolescentes pela filmografia de horror na atualidade. Para tanto, a pesquisa desenvolveu-se através de uma abordagem qualitativa, de caráter exploratório e utilizou o grupo focal como técnica para análise dos dados. Optou-se por realizar o estudo com alunos de uma escola estadual do interior do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, a qual promove um projeto que objetiva o desenvolvimento de oficinas sobre cinema com os alunos, sendo que, uma das atividades deste grupo havia sido a produção de um filme, um curta de horror (gênero de escolha dos alunos). A fim de selecionar os participantes, informou-se sobre os objetivos do estudo aos adolescentes que faziam parte das oficinas e, na sequência, questionou-se sobre o interesse em integrá-lo. Sendo assim, participaram 16 sujeitos, os quais compuseram três grupos focais. Os grupos foram compostos por 5, 3 e 8 participantes. Com o intuito de determinar o número total de grupos, considerou-se o critério de saturação, que diz que os grupos se esgotam quando não apresentam novidades em termos de conteúdo, pois os depoimentos tornam-se repetitivos. Para a análise dos dados obtidos na pesquisa, utilizou-se a técnica da análise de conteúdo. As categorias, oriundas da análise, serão apresentadas em dois artigos, de forma que ambas convergem para pensar o grande interesse dos adolescentes pelas imagens móveis de horror. O primeiro dos artigos, trabalha esta questão de forma mais ampla, analisando as falas dos sujeitos para compreender as entrelinhas da íntima relação entre adolescência e cinema de horror, apresentando e discutindo os momentos de início e de importância dos encontros com a filmografia, bem como o seu sentido para os participantes. O segundo artigo, centraliza-se na relevância e nas singularidades que compreende, particularmente, a imagem móvel de horror para estes sujeitos. Os resultados apontam para o fato de que o fascínio despertado por essas obras cinematográficas, realmente, ocupa um lugar privilegiado em suas vidas. Estar diante dessas imagens, tal como a experiência do sonho, permite ao sujeito vivenciar um labirinto de espelhos, possibilitando o encontro com o que há de mais verdadeiro, particular e obscuro de si mesmo. Além disso, iniciado, ainda na infância, o encontro com as narrativas fílmicas de horror aparece relacionado à ausência dos pais, a experiências de desamparo vividas em relação ao outro. Pôde-se evidenciar, portanto, que o encontro com a ficção consistia na possibilidade de experenciar ativamente o horror que, na vida real, era vivenciado de forma totalmente passiva, traumática. Não por acaso, a presença fílmica do horror retorna com grande intensidade na adolescência, momento de suas vidas em que, decorrente da irrupção de intensas mudanças pubertárias e de excessos pulsionais, vivenciam a necessidade de relações de alteridade para fazer esta travessia. No entanto, novamente, se vêm desamparados, buscando nas narrativas fílmicas de horror, a possibilidade de uma posição ativa, além da produção de compartilhamento de experiências, de construção de laço simbólico.

Abstract:
This dissertation is an authorship study of the controversial contemporary French film director Catherine Breillat. Using screen captures to provide visual evidence for the philosophical and theoretical perspectives staked out by Breillat, I perform close analysis of the following six films: Une Vrai Jeune Fille (1976), 36 Fillette (1988), Romance (1999), À Ma Soeur (2001), Brève Traverseé (2001), and Anatomie de L'enfer (2004). Using theory only to supplement interpretations, I draw on the work of George Bataille, Stanley Cavell, and Slavoj Zizek. Breillat's films work through a series of important philosophical ideas integral to an account of eroticism: the paradox of speaking about silence; achieving purity through an encounter with disgust; the singularity of individual desire; the split in identity between the mind and the body; the relationship between sex and death; the relationship between the taboo and transgression; and the violence of female desire. Breillat's films encourage viewers to alter their thinking about sexuality and liberate themselves to lead a more fully erotic life. The capacity of Breillat's films to free eroticism is their most important contribution not only to film history, but also to the totality of human experience.

This study deals with the establishment of representations about the teenager, turning to a field in which some of them have been produced in the early 2010s: Brazilian cinema. On to the thematic Media and Education, aiming to discuss how these representations are produced, it starts from the premise that this media vehicle is following the trend of placing the teenager in a position of centrality in contemporary culture, and simultaneously, has been promoting the pedagogical character assumed by media discourses about adolescence. The work uses the concepts of discourse, power, knowledge and subject, as were developed by Michel Foucault, putting him in conversation with theorists of cultural studies. The empirical corpus selected for analysis focuses on four films: The Famous and the Dead, Before the world ends, The best things in the world and Desenrola. Further information about these films circulating in cyberspace, in interactive processes that involve viewers in forms of subjection are considered for analysis. Its conclusion points with respect to the emphasis given to the teenager as also subject of privileged position in the age of the information.
Este estudo trata da constituição de representações sobre o estudante adolescente, voltando-se para um campo no qual algumas delas vem sendo produzidas no início da década de 2010: o cinema brasileiro. Ligado à temática Mídia e Educação, tem o objetivo de problematizar o modo como estas representações são produzidas, partindo da premissa de que este veículo midiático vem seguindo a tendência de colocar a juventude numa posição de centralidade na cultura contemporânea, e, simultaneamente, vem promovendo o caráter pedagógico assumido pelos discursos da mídia sobre a adolescência. O trabalho utiliza os conceitos de discurso, poder, saber e sujeito, conforme foram elaborados por Michel Foucault, colocando-o em conversação com teóricos dos estudos culturais. O corpus empírico selecionado para análise do discurso sobre o estudante adolescente concentra-se sobre quatro filmes: Os Famosos e os Duendes da Morte, Antes que o mundo acabe, As melhores coisas do mundo e Desenrola. São consideradas para análise, ainda, informações que circulam sobre estes filmes no ciberespaço, em processos de interatividade que envolvem os espectadores em formas de assujeitamento. Sua conclusão aponta para a ênfase dada ao adolescente também como sujeito de posição privilegiada na era da informação.

This study explores transformations in the perceived meaning of life among in a specific group of adolescents. Relations between the traditional institutions (family and school) and the media as established in the socializing process in contemporary western capitalist societies - is correlated with a modification in the production of these meanings. Two concepts were fundamental to the analysis of this shift: the dynamics of the imaginary understood as both reservoir and motor; and mediations understood as "free zones." The study focuses on cinema as the media form best suited for reflection on processes of projection and identification. The methodology is based on qualitative research with data collected from focus groups. The study group consisted of twelve middle class students, between 14 and 17 years of age, in a non-confessional school in the northern area of the city of São Paulo. The chosen film was Constantine. Group interactions revealed a type of discourse that clarify the role of cinematographic media in the construction of the religious imaginary of this group
Esta pesquisa aborda transformações percebidas em um grupo específico de adolescentes, no que se refere ao significado por eles atribuído à sua existência no mundo. A partir da relação que se estabelece no contexto atual nas sociedades ocidentais capitalistas, no processo de socialização, entre as instâncias tradicionais (família e escola) e a mídia constata-se uma modificação na produção de significados para a existência humana. A dinâmica do imaginário entendida como reservatório/motor, e as mediações como zonas livres , foram os conceitos fundamentais para a compreensão de como se dá essa mudança na produção de sentidos. Dentro das possibilidades oferecidas pela mídia, utilizamos o cinema como mediação capaz de levar à reflexões a partir de um processo de projeção-identificação. A metodologia utilizada para a coleta de dados baseou-se na perspectiva qualitativa a partir da técnica de grupos focais. A pesquisa foi realizada com um grupo de 12 adolescentes, na faixa etária entre 14 e 17 anos, de classe média, que estudam em uma escola não confessional da Zona Norte da cidade de São Paulo. O filme escolhido foi Constantine, e as interações do grupo traduziram um tipo de discurso que nos possibilitou associações significativas para dar conta da hipótese levantada, ou seja, o papel da mídia cinematográfica na construção do imaginário religioso de um determinado grupo de adolescentes

Lo scopo di questa ricerca, attraverso l’analisi di due produzioni seriali italiane destinate ad un pubblico adolescenziale, I Liceali (2008-2011, Canale 5) e Skam Italia (2018-2020, Netflix), è di comprendere come narrative riguardanti temi di attuale interesse sociale quali discriminazione di genere, omofobia e razzismo siano andate incontro ad una vitale evoluzione, esplorandone i rispettivi contesti. I Liceali, prodotta da Taodue per la Mediaset, è una fiction italiana ambientata a Roma, con protagonisti studenti, professori del Liceo Colonna. La fiction, tocca svariati temi considerati attinenti alla sfera adolescenziale. Il teen drama Skam Italia, ambientato anch’esso in un liceo di Roma e incentrato sulla vita di alcuni adolescenti, nasce come webserie prodotta da Tim Vision, successivamente acquisita da Netflix. La serie fa parte di un franchise inizialmente ideato in Norvegia ed esportato in molti paesi. Ogni stagione della serie è dedicata ad un personaggio, che affronta problematiche attinenti all’adolescenza, trattate in chiave contemporanea. Attraverso l’analisi critica dei contenuti delle sopra menzionate serie televisive, ne verranno decodificate le modalità di narrazione secondo un approccio post-femminista intersezionale che attinge alle istanze sociologiche dei cultural studies. La ricerca, inoltre, si propone di esplorare la prospettiva dei media studies, attingendo ai concetti ideati da Henry Jenkins di transmedia storytelling e di convergence culture.

Al di là dell’adesione al mito dei “nativi digitali” come soggetti dotati di competenze e abilità superiori a quelle dei loro genitori appare infatti necessario studiare le esperienze crossplatform, contestualizzandole all’interno del set di opportunità e di vincoli, culturali, sociali e contestuali che strutturano la quotidianità dei ragazzi. L’importanza data ai molteplici fattori che, a diverso titolo, interagiscono nel modellare i consumi convergenti ha guidato l’intero processo di analisi dei risultati fin verso la definizione di uno sguardo interpretativo situazionale e multifattoriale, volto a interpretare la natura contingente e provvisoria degli equilibri su cui si reggono le differenti esperienze di consumo crossmediale. I dati descritti e analizzati sono frutto di un processo di ricerca etnografica che ha coinvolto adolescenti iscritti ai primi quattro anni della scuola secondaria di secondo grado e residenti in diverse province italiane.
The research presented in this thesis explores convergent television-related consumer practices of teenagers by mapping factors which potentially orient fruition patterns. The myth of “digital natives” as more skilled and resourceful than their parents does not suffice: it is necessary to study actual cross-platform experiences by contextualizing them within the sets of affordances and limitations (cultural, social and contextual) which structure the daily lives of teenagers. The centrality assigned to the many factors shaping convergent consumptions has driven the analysis towards the definition of a situational multi-factor interpretative view able to interpret the contingent and ephemeral nature of the balances underpinning convergent consumption experiences.

Esta pesquisa analisa como a experiência de produção de vídeo por celular é usada por jovens para representação de suas identidades culturais. Os sujeitos interlocutores são sete jovens, com idade entre 13 e 17 anos, moradores de bairros populares e estudantes de escolas públicas participantes das atividades do projeto Telinha de Cinema na cidade de Palmas - TO. Os vídeos produzidos por eles, utilizando o aparelho celular para gravar, editar e divulgar, são analisados como objeto empírico. O quadro teórico está fundamentando nos conceitos de juventude, identidade cultural, representações, mediações, produção audiovisual e aprendizagens. Para o levantamento de dados, foram utilizados fonte documental, questionário e a entrevista individual semiestruturada que, associados à observação não participante e aos vídeos de bolso produzidos pelos jovens, constituem os instrumentos da pesquisa. Os dados foram organizados e interpretados por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados e as discussões, obtidos a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa, revelam que os jovens se apropriam cada vez mais das possibilidades que as tecnologias oferecem para expressar suas „vozes‟ e revelar suas práticas culturais e cotidianas. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This research analyzes how the experience of video production, recorded by cellular, is used by young people to represent their cultural identities. The interlocutors are seven young people, from 13 to 17 years old, residents of popular neighborhoods, students of the public school, which take part of the project “The small Screen Cinema” that take place in Palmas - TO. The videos produced by them, using the mobile device to record, edit and publish, are analyzed as empirical objects. The theoretical framework is basing on the concepts of youth, cultural identity, representation, mediation, audiovisual production and learning. For data collection, it was used documental source, questionnaire and individual semi-structured interviews, associated with non-participant observation and pocket-videos, produced by the young people‟s group, which are the research instruments. The data were organized and interpreted by the technique of content analysis. The results and discussions, obtained from a qualitative approach, reveal that young people, increasingly, take the advantaged of the possibilities that the technology offers to express their 'voices' and reveal their cultural and daily practices.

A new wave of adolescent fantasy cinema arrived in the aftermath of the 11 September 2001, terrorist attacks and the Global War on Terror. Directed with themes of social fear, and dependent on digital technology, these films feature protagonists facing “issues such as the conflict between national security and civil liberties, the risk of xenophobia and entrenchment, or the consequences of preventive war.” Anchored to the Harry Potter series, this project analyses changes that occurred in the aesthetic and narrative of coming of age fantasy films produced after 9/11, and investigates whether these films incorporate a post-9/11 rhetoric within the socio-political worlds they portray. This study also examines the visual environments of these films, and how a post-9/11 lens envisions and captures landscapes for the screen. The methodology includes a qualitative analysis that assesses the Harry Potter franchise against research about the post-9/11 landscape. This investigation relies on studies that compare Harry Potter imagery with the visual landscape of post-9/11 disaster and military footage found in films, documentaries and image archives featuring the Global War on Terror. The research will use the creative method to develop a short film set amidst a visual world characterised by the post-9/11 milieu. However, this story does not conclude with an epic battle. Working within the filmic fairy tale adaptation cycle that emerged between 2005 and 2015, this thesis investigates how girlhood is cinematically constructed through the lens of fantasy, in relation to gendered representation in media. The relationship between femininity and fairy tales is well-established. By reading contemporary filmic adaptations of the tales, the thesis deconstructs gendered myth-making and reveals the extent to which fairy tale imagery and plot continue to inform cultural constructions of girlhood. It argues that by centring upon young female protagonists and often targeting a young female audience, this cycle constitutes a newly emerging young woman’s cinema. In doing so, the thesis relates the contemporary fairy tale adaptation cycle back to gendered histories of media and genres traditionally associated with female audiences (such as the Female Gothic, the Melodrama, the Costume Drama and so on). The thesis analyses their similar narrative strategies of using iconographical objects, haunted spaces and evocative settings. The cycle’s cultural denigration is critiqued for its association with mainstream and primarily female audiences. The act of adapting fairy tales to construct girlhood through fantasy thus necessitates exploring the ideological implications of gendered genres, their narrative strategies as well as complex processes of adaptation, from tale to screen. How these films, by centralising girlhood, explore female fantasies and desires, trauma, gendered violence and coming of age, is explored throughout. The thesis argues that a highly specific mode of girlhood comes to the fore in this cycle, within particular cultural (social, racial and narrative) parameters. This mode of fairy tale girlhood is imperilled, spectacular and exclusionary, generating disturbing implications of how young women are represented and addressed in popular media. As in women’s films of previous eras in film history, however, the fairy tale adaptation cycle both reinforces and challenges the rigid parameters in which girlhood is cinematically imagined.

Este estudo aborda o enlace que se dá entre os sujeitos da adolescência e as novas séries audiovisuais. Os questionamentos levantados acerca da temática partiram da escuta realizada a jovens estudantes que buscaram atendimento psicológico em um setor de Assistência Estudantil de um Instituto Federal de Educação. E a pesquisa que aqui se configura apoia-se na aposta de que o estudo dessas produções culturais possa permitir saber um pouco mais sobre os sujeitos que as acessam. Para delimitação do objeto de pesquisa, optou-se por apenas uma dessas séries: Breaking Bad. Esta chamou a atenção pelo apelo que exerce junto ao público, bem como por trazer uma trama que remete a certo mal-estar, incomum às séries habitualmente acessadas pelos adolescentes até pouco tempo. Devido a isso, além do trabalho com o conceito de Adolescência (entendida aqui, de acordo com os pressupostos da teoria psicanalítica, como operação psíquica, um período de recapitulação, um só-depois do estádio do espelho), realiza-se também a articulação teórica com o conceito freudiano de Mal-estar na Cultura. Ainda, como referencial metodológico para análise da obra, utilizam-se os estudos que estabelecem diálogos entre Psicanálise e Cinema, concebendo o Cinema como linguagem e tomando a obra enquanto texto fílmico. Com isso, embora realizem-se algumas articulações acerca da narrativa, é priorizada a análise das operações por meio das quais signos fílmicos remetem uns aos outros, suscitando efeitos de sentido. Para tal análise utilizou-se de fragmentos do Episódio-piloto de Breaking Bad e suas possíveis associações a outras cenas de outros episódios. E, por fim, trata-se de elementos fílmicos que se destacaram durante a série e de como eles possibilitam tecer reflexões acerca do mal-estar na cultura e do sujeito da adolescência contemporânea. Destas reflexões, destacam-se as dimensões espacial e temporal, que são exploradas em profusão por meio de recursos formais presentes na obra e permitem pontos de diálogo diversos com a temática da adolescência. Observa-se ainda, que conforme a abordagem dada a algumas cenas, estes aparecem de forma propícia a evocar a questão do mal-estar (aqui entendido como topológico, marca de um lugar, de algo da ordem espacial), que já está amplamente presente em aspectos narrativos da série. Assim, trazemos uma discussão que revela alguns entrelaçamentos entre as Novas Séries Televisivas, Mal-Estar na Cultura e Adolescência.
This study addresses the link between adolescents and new audiovisual series. The questions raised about the theme came from listening to young students who sought psychological care in a student assistance sector of a Federal Institute of Education. This research is based on the bet that the study of these cultural productions may allow us to know a little more about these young people that access them. To delimit the research object, only one of these series was chosen: Breaking Bad. It drew attention because of its appeal to the public, as well as for its plot that points to a certain malaise, unusual for the series usually accessed by adolescents until recently. Due to this, alongside working with the concept of Adolescence (understood here, according to the presuppositions of psychoanalytic theory, as a psychic operation, a period of recapitulation, an afterwards the mirror stage), there is a theoretical articulation with the Freudian concept of Malaise in culture. Also, as a methodological reference for the analysis of the work, we use studies that establish dialogues between Psychoanalysis and Cinema, conceiving Cinema as language and taking the cinematographic work as filmic text. Thus, although some articulations about the narrative are made, we prioritized the analysis of the operations through which filmic signs refer to each other, provoking effects of meaning. For this analysis fragments of the Pilot Episode of Breaking Bad were used in its possible associations to other scenes from other episodes. Finally, this analysis looks at film elements that stood out during the series and how they make it possible to think about the malaise in the culture and the subject of the contemporary adolescence. Those reflections highlight the spatial and temporal dimensions, which are profusely explored through formal resources present in the work and allow various points of dialogue with the theme of adolescence. It is also observed that, according to the approach given to some scenes, these appear to be able to evoke the issue of malaise (here understood as topological, mark of a place, something of the spatial order), which is already widely present in narrative aspects of the series. Thus, we bring a discussion that reveals some interweaving between Breaking Bad, Malaise in Culture and Adolescence.

El rendimiento académico durante la adolescencia es un tema que preocupa a docentes, padres, madres, investigadores, etc. Del mismo modo, un estilo de vida sedentario, propio de la sociedad moderna, está afectando cada vez más a la población infantil y adolescente, causando, entre otras, enfermedades y dolencias cardiorrespiratorias propias del adulto. Durante la adolescencia, el abandono deportivo se produce de forma masiva y la principal causa se centra en la falta de tiempo para compaginar deporte y estudios. Además, muchas investigaciones sugieren que el deporte y el rendimiento académico están relacionados de forma positiva.

En la presente Tesis se pretende analizar la influencia de ciertas variables personales, contextuales, de hábitos y deportivas sobre el rendimiento académico; así como examinar el rendimiento académico y ciertas variables de hábitos en busca de diferencias entre deportistas y no-deportistas.

Un total de 313 adolescentes de 2º ciclo de ESO participaron en el estudio, todos de centros de Castellón de la Plana, de los cuales 124 eran deportistas y 189 no-deportistas. A todos ellos se les administró el cuestionario CHTE sobre hábitos de estudio y el PFYTL sobre práctica física y tiempo libre. Además, se administró un cuestionario a los padres y se obtuvo las notas académicas de los sujetos. Los principales resultados muestran que el perfil de sujeto con mejor rendimiento académico corresponde a las variables de género femenino, centro privado/concertado, nivel de estudios superior del padre y de la madre, mejores hábitos de estudio, menos ocio sedentario, sí practica deporte, sí compite, sí practica con entrenador/a, sus padres practican deporte. Además, de forma significativa, los sujetos deportistas tienen mejor rendimiento académico, mejores hábitos de estudio y dedican menos tiempo al ocio sedentario que los sujetos no-deportistas.

Introducció: Els estudis indiquen que un percentatge molt elevat dels adolescents que viuen en països industrialitzats no assoleixen els mínims recomanats d’activitat física (AF) (Hallal et al., 2012). La pràctica esportiva no sempre és eficaç alhora de promoure altres estils de vida (Lisha & Sussman, 2010). Objectius: (i) Estudiar els nivells d’AF i pràctica esportiva entre els adolescents d’Osona. (ii) Trobar associacions entre nivells d’AF i altres estils de vida. Metodologia: Els adolescents nascuts l’any 1995 a Osona varen ser omplir un qüestionari el 2011 (n=695), el 2012 (n=668), el 2013 (n=411) i el 2014 (n=180). Resultats: (i) Els nivells d’AF durant el temps de lleure disminueixen en el pas de l’adolescència a l’edat adulta; (ii) associacions positives entre el consum d’alcohol i tabac i la pràctica esportiva entre els nois; i (iii) els adolescents d’Osona es passen > 700’ al dia asseguts. Discussió: És bàsic promoure la pràctica esportiva durant l’adolescència, però també la importància dels clubs esportius alhora de promoure l’adquisició d’estils de vida saludables.
Introduction: Global studies reveal that a high percentage of adolescents are physically inactive (Hallal et al., 2012). Sports participation in adolescence is not always better at promoting healthy lifestyles than regular physical activity (PA). Aims: To observe the tracking of sport participation and PA among a group of adolescents from high school to university and to observe how this affects their lifestyle behaviours. Methods: Adolescents born in 1995 from Osona completed a questionnaire in 2011 (n=695), 2012 (n=668), 2013 (n=411) and 2014 (n=180). Results: Levels of PA at leisure time drastically reduced from late adolescence to early adulthood. The higher prevalence of alcohol consumption was in team sport players compared to other groups. Adolescents spend >700’ a day in a sitting position during weekdays. Discussion: Sport clubs (including coaches, venue and management team) have to put more effort to avoid the acquisition and maintenance of unhealthy habits (alcohol and tobacco consumption) among their athletes.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the evolution of the teen moving genre during what Henry Jenkins called the modern era of “convergence culture”. The teen movie has always been one of the most prolific and profitable genre since the Fifties. But it went through several changes and adjustments, due to social and cultural changes and to market needs. Thus the portrayal of adolescent characters in teen movie has equally changed through the decades, but it has also maintained some specific characteristics and peculiar patterns. This because teen movie works largely by repeating systematically certain conventions and stereotypes in order to be instantly recognizable. In this sense, the character of Katniss Everdeen from “The Hunger Games” series seems to be particularly relevant because she fully embodies both the dominant cinematic trends of this period and the traditional representation of female adolescents on screen. In conclusion, I want to argue that Katniss could be seen as an emblem of teen movie genre, because she simultaneously both conform and resist to traditional stereotypes – as the genre itself.
